Think you’ll ever do a review of Arcane? If you have seen the whole series, what are your basic thoughts on it?

OH HELL YEAH IM WRITING A REVIEW FOR IT AS WE SPEAK

Uhhhhh,,, oh man I'm gonna ramble SOOOoo much about this show it's my most favorite show of all time.

Season 1 is super solid, LOVE the character arcs and build up, they are INCREDIBLE. The animation is solid, the storyline set up is full of hype, the butterfly effect is very prominent in the story telling and I love me a good action packed story heavy series surrounding politics. Boy howdy does this show give us depthy characters, I'm LOVIN it! Season 2 arc 1 is also pretty solid.

Arc 2, ep 4,5,6 however.... they have some interesting ideas but are otherwise a complete and total mess. Our entire cast straight up disappears from the plot, rushed to all hell (we needed a season 3 SOOooo badly) Every single member of our main cast has contradicted themselves, often within the same episode. The narrator is unreliable.

The final arc of season 2 picked things back up, and while its not perfect by any means, it was breathtakingly unexpected. I enjoyed so much of it. I feel like our characters had good wrap ups, I just hate how we got here. One could argue the show also ship pandered the ending quite a bit and I'm not gonna disagree, I hate to say that was ironically the best part for me.

I was actually mentally, physically, and emotionally unwell for an ENTIRE week after the finale. I stayed up all night watching it. I've never seen a show pull something so insane in my life. I was astounded. I don't think anyone could have predicted how things would have ended up. If Arcane had a season 3 to actually sit down and give more time to explore the ideas they shoved into season 2, I feel like people would be less divided on it. Despite my disappointment for season 2, I still think this show is very good and would recommend it to everyone, even my own mom, ahahaha. ~ Spoilers below for an overall issue I have with Arcane, for both seasons. A really annoying pet peeve of mine

The writers have a problem with plot devices. There has been one per season and they're not good. Sky Young and Isha. They're used to rush a character to the next step in their arc. My personal belief is that these two are wasteful. They only exist for a member of our main cast. They are not their own characters or have any legit relevance to the overall story.

Sky Young is there as a symbol of Viktor's 'humanity' even when the methods of her death or how she's used in the story don't make any sense down the line. She's just an 'obsessed' one-sided love interest that forces Viktor into giving up on the Hexcore- to give up on Piltover and Jayce. Only for him to drop/kill her a SECOND time in season 2 regardless of his initial guilt and distress over "losing" her.

Isha is used to force Jinx to live up to a symbol of rebellion against Piltover, as well as be Jinx's "redemption arc" (she didn't NEED one??? wtf) morality pet, as well as force Jinx into a situation where she'd consider unaliving herself so Ekko can come in and save her.

I am so annoyed with how these characters were handled. Sky should have been more than a lab assistant crushing on Viktor, and Isha should have been more than Jinx's redemption arc morality pet. It's shocking we have such flat plot devices in a show with such insanely depthy characters- especially the other women! I'll talk more about them in my video, but any time I see them on screen, I just want to skip over them.

All I wanted to say is that the absolute bitch-fest that Rook and Solas are having on my screen right now is by far the best piece of fan service any media franchise has ever delivered to me personally.

Voice acting: 10/10 (Erika Ishii as Rook 💜)

Animation: wow! actually surprisingly good! Solas and his entire demeanour have been perfected over the last decade. I don’t care if you think his chin has gotten too long, I’m loving this shit.

I hope I will get to sass that ancient piece of shit a couple more times before the situation changes. For now he is stuck with me. Ahahaha! 🍳

What is your opinion about the rumors of Xolo Mariduena being Ace? Do you think he would be a good fit? Do you like the idea? If not, is there someone else you would have in mind? I know Lucas Amorim is another popular actor people want as Ace. Honestly, I saw Lucas Amorims audition videos...and I feel so bad to say that I DO NOT see him as our Firefist....at all. For your question, I am actually VERY GLAD you asked me. First thing, I’m a huge fan of Cobra Kai and Miguel is my favorite character AND because of Miguel I became a big fan of Xolo Maridueña. When I first saw the rumours I was like OH. I love Xolo but I can’t imagine him as Ace? So I rewatched the seasons of Cobra Kai to focus only on Xolo’s performance and…you know what? I KIND OF STARTED TO IMAGINE IT AND LIKED IT? I was just smiling the whole time AHAHAHA massive fangirl yeah erm well, anyway!

And then, I saw Lucas and…something felt off about him to me? I don’t want to be mean like dude is trying but I just can’t imagine our baby Ace like that? 😭 ALSO, one thing I didn’t liked is during the actors strike, I heard that he was still pushing to get Ace’s role instead of supporting the actors and I was like umm…ACE WOULD NEVER 😤 And the more I was watching his posts I’m like dude stop…and then I went back to Xolo and I was smiling like an idiot imagining him as Ace AHAHAHA Like…I’m already a Xolo Maridueña fangirl and I already support his career (and stalk his instagram, yeah!) and all so…YEAH I think I would love Xolo as Ace! 🥹❤️

He can fight, he’s cute, he’s a great actor, I love his face (AHAHAHA) so yeah, he got my vote and support! AND I MEAN, my expectations for OPLA Ace are HELLA HIGH, I was always saying to my boyfriend: NOT A SINGLE HUMAN ON EARTH CAN BE HIM HE’S TOO PERFECT so if I would accept Xolo, please be honoured, Xolo 😂

Whatever it was, it had managed to anger every woman on the premises. He thought it took a lot to get girls riled up this much – something like cheating on them or calling them names, you know? But without a single action on his part, he found himself facing Yuno, Muu, and Amane. All three had a fire in their eyes that Fuuta was not liking the look of. 

Mahiru had pointed him to his cell, saying Es was looking for him there. She spoke strangely as she did it, and waited awkwardly outside as he went in, but everyone around here was a little odd. How was he supposed to distinguish when people were being murderer-in-a-supernatural-prison weird from setting-a-trap-to-corner-him-in-his-cell weird?

He waved his palms in front of him. “Listen, listen! Let’s just talk, okay? Let’s slow down.”

Muu cracked her knuckles.

Amane began rolling up her sleeves in perfect creases. “You have doubted our abilities. We will make you a believer.”

Fuuta took a few steps back. His voice came out loud and frantic. “What are you talking about? If you’re looking to pick a fight, you better think twice, because I’m not gonna hit a girl or anything.”

“Oh, good!” Yuno’s voice was as bubbly as always as the three closed in. “That will make our job a lot easier.”

He felt his back hit the wall. “I mean it, let’s just talk about this for a sec! Hey!”

Mikoto’s voice came from outside the cell. 

“Mappi? What’s going on in there?”

“Yes!” Fuuta called, “Mikoto! Help! They’re gonna kill me in here!”

“Oh, no need to worry~ The girls are just teaching him a little lesson about not saying awful things.”

“Isn’t this going a bit too far…? What did he even say?”

“Nothing! Come on, get me the fuck outta here!”

“I believe his exact words were, ‘there’s no way a girl could win in a fight against a man.’”

Fuuta paled. He did say that, didn't he...

“Oh crap. Yeah, that’d do it. Carry on.”

“Wha–? Mikoto!” 

He gaped at the three in front of him. 

He remembered a hero in a video game who had faced off against an unbeatable foe; a glorious knight who came to understand that he could never conquer the world-razing dragon before him. After giving his all, and seeing his fate was sealed, the hero had no choice. In a manly show of valor, he’d lifted his chin, closed his eyes, and accepted his impending, gory death.  

Yuno's gaze was cold as she raised her arms. Muu had a hungry look in her eyes. Amane clenched her fists, her posture perfect.

It wasn’t a dragon, but Fuuta would argue this was a good deal more dangerous. He lifted his chin and squeezed his eyes shut.

“Get ‘em, girls!”

Kotoko approached just as the other girls filed out of Fuuta’s cell. They had giddy looks on their faces. They giggled and whispered in a huddle as they walked around the panopticon. 

“Wow, Muu!”

“Haha, I didn’t know you had it in you!”

“That felt amazing…”

Kotoko didn’t know what kind of game they were all playing in there, but Fuuta was in for a big surprise now. The fun was over. Today was the day she acted out her responsibilities as Es’ fang. Today was the day she delivered justice. 

She swung the cell door open. Her eyebrows shot up. 

Her head whipped around to take a look at the girls, still complementing one another and laughing lightly.

Hell, her work here was already done.

Looking back on it, Team Fortress 2’s ‘Meet the Medic’ video has got to be one of the most spectacular character introductions ever made:

Plus all the little non-verbal character moments, like his attachment to his birds, being barehanded for surgery but putting gloves on to go kill people, pushing up his glasses before getting down to business. It’s such a fantastic little 4-minute character précis.

Yeah she had been tickled before. Hadn’t everyone at one point? Memories stretched as far back as the beginning stages of her trio of Marcy, Anne, and her. It was a normal kid thing to do, tickle fights.

But those times have passed now, right? That doesn’t happen anymore in your teen years.

She had an army now. An army. Who could think of something so stupid when she had soldiers to train and plans to draft?

That didn’t stop her from remembering those times, though. Late at night..

“Mar, you’ve been on that thing all dayyy!” A younger Anne whined as she tugged at Marcy’s sleeve, whom of which was engrossed in a major video game round of.. well, Sasha could never remember what it was Marcy was always playing. All three of them sat more or less comfortably on Sasha’s bed. another sleep over. One where times were easier and mental wounds weren’t burned into anyone’s heads yet. Innocence.

“Oh, let her Anne.” Sasha scoffed playfully.

“Besides, you gotta know by now it takes more than that to break her focus.” She gave her friend a knowing look, and Anne returned it. She knew. They both knew. And, if Marcy was present mentally, they would all know. But Marcy wasn’t present mentally, and Anne took full advantage of that, squeezing her sides gently and laughing along when Marcy let out a surprised string of giggles. It wasn’t long until Marcy returned the favor out of revenge for Anne letting her lose her game.

Sasha watched both of them and shook her head out of charm for her two silly friends. She didn’t expect however, to be brought right into the middle of it. Their playfight-wrestling knocking into her causing her to properly fall on the bed.

“Heh- Hey!” She was giggling now too out of the silliness of the situation, attempting to get back up until he was pushed back down, albeit, gently, by Anne herself.

“No fair! You never join in, pleeeease?”

Sasha sighed.

“Fiiiine.” She has grumbled, and as soon as the word left her lips, it was replaced by girlish laughter as she was mercilessly attacked by not just Anne, but Marcy too.

One of them got her sides, the other her stomach, and then Sasha finally realized how screwed she actually was.

“W-Wahahait! T-Thihihis ihihisnt- ahahaha!”

She laughed harder than ever before, and the other two watched in awe, never seeing their friend in such a state. Minutes later she would beg for mercy, and minutes later her friends would oblige.

But Sasha never forgot the way it felt afterward. A tired. A good tired. Not the kind of tired she now felt after days of work and leadership. Worried about tomorrow tired. No, this tired was perfect. Safe. A night that was somehow both restful and full of activity. Nobody had to say they loved eachother, they all knew.

She sighed and turned over in her bed, her face blushed from the memory. She could never admit it aloud, at least, not now. But she missed her goofballs. Even now.

Ok quick rant about the attempts at portraying "girl power":

Honestly idk about D'jok being annoyed they're all girls, this with the Elektra's comment earlier are examples of S3 being more heavy-handed like, “yeah these players are girls, but ACTUALLY that doesn't mean they're not good players!”. Compare this to the previous seasons where we just... had players that were really good and happened to be girls, and no one needed to comment on it? Like, Kernor is the top goal keeper and Lun-Zaera is the best striker for the Wambas, plus Tia was the Snow Kid's biggest weapon in season 1 so I don't think D'jok would immediately dismiss the girls like that. Maybe he would be disconcerted at being the only boy, but still. It's like in the lego n/in/ja/go movie where they were like “she's a GIRL, but she can still be a NINJA!” which has a weird psychological effect of actually enforcing to kids that there is some sort of disparity between men and women, when instead they could just portray her as an equal and let that do the talking, no need to manufacture sexism so you can call it out like “hey, we're so progressive!” (not that you can't have stories with that too, I just don't think it makes as much sense in this situation and shows a different approach than the first two seasons).

being observant is one of hiori's major traits. he's extremely good at reading people and understanding how they're thinking without even having to ask, which would be extremely beneficial whenever you have those nights where your mind is running wild and you can't seem to sleep. hiori is right beside you, asking you what's wrong, and talking you through your feelings in the gentlest way he can. your happiness is of utmost importance to him, and he can't rest until he knows you're feeling better. he's also a great communicator. he knows how to explain his emotions and understand other people when they struggle to do so. with that observance and communication, he's the perfect boyfriend for you.

your hobbies also really align with hiori, considering that gaming is also his usual go-to when he doesn't know how to spend his free time. the two of you could be on a discord call together, in the middle of the most difficult rpg campaign that either of you have ever played; yet somehow still manage to complete the hardest task possible since you have such great teamwork. if either of you wasn't feeling up to play for some reason, you could simply watch the other livestream and lowkey backseat game if that's what your into— though hiori wouldn't mind. he just likes to hear your voice, no matter if you're telling him what to do or simply giving him some helpful advice.

"happy anniversary." hiori smiles at you softly as the glow from the dim over-head lighting casts dancing shadows across his face.

the atmosphere of the familiar restaurant is so comforting. it's almost like a warm blanket enveloping the both of you and squeezing tight until you're fast asleep. it's been a year since you first came here, having walked through the doors on your first date and choosing to come again and again to make more memories as the time goes by.

"happy anniversary to you too." you grin back, shining your bright teeth at him and mouthing a quick 'i love you' as you begin to look at the menu.

there's a smooth piano track playing on the speakers, so lovely that you'd think it was a live band if you hadn't asked a few months ago. you and hiori love this place for the intimacy the ambience brings. you don't have to shout to hear what he's saying and he doesn't need to be overly outgoing to get your attention. it's almost as if this place was made just for you two, and you were so lucky to find it so soon after finding one another.

"you gonna get the same thing as usual?" he asks. he knows you so well.

Piece of my Heart

This is another fig set where the name is too multi-layered and nuanced for me to understand. 悠悠我心 machine translates to Yoyo my Heart, which is pretty funny considering these two are on swings!

As far as I can tell, after some significant falling down rabbit holes, the name is part of a quote from a classic love poem (which is also referenced in another poem). 悠悠 seems to have connotations of 'leisurely' and 'over a long period of time', which when combined with 'my heart' seems very sweet.

I was very tempted to call this "Junzhe on Swings", like the literal American I am, but I found one reference to 悠悠我心 quite possibly, maybe, potentially meaning, 'piece of my heart', and my own heart went, awww. So here we are.

These figs certainly do have a piece of my heart. First, because I absolutely love the inspiration for Zhehan's fig. I'm not a fan of this crazy shirt by itself, but he looks AMAZING in this outfit. It's actually one of my favorites.

His waist. His hair. His forearms. His mile-long legs. His face. The whole look is very casual yet stylish. It highlights how strong and beautiful he is, while also making him look huggable, at the very same time. It's that perfect combination of strong and soft, which Zhehan himself said is a beautiful thing to be.

His smile. His jawline. His waist. I've always loved the cinched paper bag waist look, but I'm nowhere near tall enough to pull that look off. I really, really wish Tumblr let me have more than one video, since I absolutely love the video of him on the red carpet for this event. But, I have to keep single my video slot for a very special video.

After all, who can forget Zhehan telling this story:

Junjun...well, the Damier Azur pattern is not one of my favorite Louis Vuitton patterns in general, but he looks great! Beautiful people are beautiful. They're obviously not going for "elegant yet huggable" for this look - they're going for full-out supermodel smolder.

Finally I can use one of my favorite photos of him! His face looks incredible. It's so sculptural. An absolute work of art. This photo also shows off his forearm here to excellent effect, AS you might have noticed, along with his elegant fingers. What a gorgeous pair they are.

Onto the figs! It'll be a bit of a mish-mash, photo wise. I actually got these figs a long, long time ago, and took various pictures in different points in time.

As you can see, they come with their swing bases, but no chains on the swings or a swing set, so I was waiting to post until I figured out how to display them.

The figs just push right into the pegs - they go in easily, but fit very securely and firmly. A+ fig engineering!

Here they are. And here they stayed, for a very long time. I searched around on Taobao, on Amazon, at Target - trying to find a plain swing that would match the figs. And by match I mean, not hot pink or a very baby version. Just something plain. I kept searching, getting distracted and then forgetting about it, and then remembering and searching some more, not finding anything and forgetting about it, etc etc. Until finally I found something that I thought would work:

I ended up with this little doll swing from Taobao after all. It came with a swinging bench, but of course, I didn't use that since my figs are the swings!

I wasn't sure what to use for the rope part of the swing, so I ended up using some embroidery floss I had around. I thought it matched nicely, and would be a good look.

And ta da! Not terrible, huh? Pretty cute! But wait. You might be asking, Lelanthe, why are the swings sitting on the ground instead of, say...swinging? It is a swing set, right?

Well that's a VERY GOOD QUESTION.

Let me illustrate. The figs, if suspended at all, even an inch, topple right over. The off-center weight of them pushes them right over. The number of times I tried to make this work, and a fig bonked right over and hit its precious little PVC head...why, it doesn't bear repeating. I certainly wouldn't want to hypothesize that there was any loud squawks of horror either, it just seems uncivilized.

So, dear figthusiast, I just took off the ropes and my figs are just standing by themselves on their boards on my display shelves, hanging out.

However, as I am sitting here tranquilly typing vs swearing sweating over these figs, I just now realize that the actual fix is to wire the ropes. If I have thick enough wire it'll hold the swings firmly in place, and the little platforms will not have to balance on their own.

Sheesh. Well, better late than never to figure that out. Alright, well, moving on to all the photos:

Very, very cute! I love the replacement of the LV logo on Junjun's outfit with the J&Z logo, and I love how they made the cinched waist look with Zhehan's belt.

Bring it in for a big ol' hug, you two!

Zhehan stands up just fine like this, which may surprise you because of all that ponytail he's got going on. You'd think the weight of that would topple him over, but it's actually Junjun that isn't very steady on his feet. I haven't wanted to stick these figs to standees of course, because I want them to go in their swings, so I've just used a bit of museum putty to hold him upright.

I picked a poor choice of background for these figs because of Zhehan's white outfit, but we'll just keep plugging away!

We can really see the fig forearms here! This is a well-matched pair indeed.

Zhehan's hair looks fantastic, as usual. You can see how the fig maker designed the whole top area to look pulled up, and the shorter hair below.

They're SO CUTE. Junjun looks a lot like his pictures here - the fig maker really got his hair. The detail on these figs is so good. You can see Zhehan's earrings well from this angle, as well as more of the details on their outfits and shoes. And of course, the blush in their faces.

This is actually one of my all-time favorite fig renditions of Zhehan that I have. Just a ton of personality.

Oh, I forgot, another reason I love these figs is that they can hold hands.

They can swing each other around in a circle!
