Hello, Hezu, I hope you’re having a nice day!
I was just curious if you’ve seen the movie K-pop Demon Hunters and what are your opinions on it. If you haven’t watched it, I really recommend it, the animation is gorgeous and the music is amazing, i really liked it, but I’m still wondering what you thought of it.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!
I want to see it in theaters next weekend, but most seats have sold out!!! I love so much about it. I love the character designs. I was surprised at the romeo & juliet trope along with Rumi being a demon. The trailer was pretty tight lipped on that and I appreciate it. When I first saw the trailer I was confused at the point of a demon slayer group also being pop stars, but when the second trailer dropped where the demons decide to form a boyband, then it all clicked and it was hilarious. I wish the other boy band members had more to them, but they're dead so all well I'm hoping the sequels give us more details, because we're missing a lot of context surrounding Rumi's birth, how demon hunters are chosen, what it means for Rumi's boyfriend to now be her blade, etc. There's some people out there that think K Pop Demon Hunters is overrated or over hyped and I can't necessarily blame them for that, since its tropey and a little predictable, but I still think its a fantastic movie and I hope ot review it at some point once I finish my Owl House review.

Hey Hezu, I don’t know if you’ve beeen asked this before, but what are you’re thoughts on the live action Disney remakes?
I've only seen Maleficent and Beauty and the Beast, so I can't speak for all of them. Maleficent at least attempted to do its own thing which I appreciate it. But I definitely prefer the animated films. These just seem like Disney cash cow remakes. I'm endlessly saddened by how much America hates stylized animation and prefers to see something they think is "live action" when a majority of it is still animated, but styled to trick them into thinking its real.
Outside of the animation though, a lot of changes to the story of these movies also aren't very good and miss the point of the original media too.
#ive heard a lot of awful things about the Lilo and Stitch movie#i wish people would stop seeing these ksdjgkdlfjd#disney#disney live action remakes

Hi!! I love your videos!
Idk if you do requests for movies/tv shows, but if you do, is it okay if you watch "Treasure Planet"? It has beautiful animation, a good story (in my opinion), and it follows a father/son(ish) dynamic and it's really underrated!
[I also love your persona]
Thank you! I love Treasure Planet!!! Granted, its been a while since I've seen it, so I'd have to rewatch to do a proper structural review, but that's definitely something that could go on my list of review material!
#the animation is fabulous and i love the futuristic style#on top of the captains mentor father son relationship#its soooooo goooodddddd#treasure planet#ask#text post#suggestions

Sooo… how about that SpindleRoo new series announcement?
I'm not into Homestuck so its not something I care about. While I do think its crazy that this project is happening because of the people involved, Homestuck, Vivizepop, and Toby Fox... (a lot of big names for separate popular media ) from my understanding, Vivziepop is just a producer for the show, so I don't know how involved she'll actually be outside of funding the animation.

same anon who sent the one piece question: AGHHHH COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE I do feel like the anime is being kind of screwed over by its own animation studio- Dragging out episodes instead of refusing to take breaks when they almost catch up to the manga which leads to god awful pacing, and doesn't help that Toei Animation has a history of unneeded sexualization of female characters INCLUDING MINORS when those moments weren't even in the manga at all??? I cant deny that One Piece changed my life but dear lord everyone in the fandom hates Toei Animation. also agree with Nami and Robin. they bleached everyone :(
"Dragging out the episodes" is also why I dropped Detective Conan. That series has been going on since the 90s and it still hasn't finished. The main character is still stuck in a child body. The plot focuses more on filler detective stories than the actual villain Organization at hand.
I've also seen a weird defensiveness for shounen series online. So many people are like "THIS IS PEAK" and so often does it have serious problems as a whole. The bar for anime feels really low.
I find it super strange how fandoms can defend a show from criticism that is mostly filler.

Have you ever read/watched One Piece, and if not, have you ever thought of looking into it? or not your cup of tea? (which would be understandable since its long af) All the naruto and bleach talk reminded me to ask lol
I tried to watch it when I was younger, it wasn’t my thing I couldn’t get into it.
But also considering the sheer length of how long this show has dragged out for, as well as the other big 3 shounen series disappointing me with their endings by turning our main characters into bad fathers with disappreciated wives? I worry for One Piece fans getting disappointed too.
That being said though hot take: One Piece may have been screwed up by 4kids once upon a time, but they made a decision that made the show Infinitely better and funnier for giving that blonde guy a lollipop instead of a cigarette
#the main girls Nami and Robin? their first designs are superior to what they are now man#long haired bikini boob girl and the other one lost her melanin#she’s so white now what happened#also can’t stand the sexualized hour glass girls man there’s way too many#Nami short hair- the shirts and the cute striped shirt#I’m not even a fan of the series but oh how I miss you#one piece

For your review on Helluva Boss, please don’t make generalizations about the fandom. You might have some points about Viv and her decisions, but leave the fans alone. Not everyone of them is toxic.
Don’t worry, I judge a show by the show, not it’s fandom
I was a fan of helluva boss too, it sucks that you have to feel insecure about liking something that gives you joy
But I will say, most fandoms are toxic. It’s 100% not exclusive to Hellaverse.
#fandoms are essentially cults man#Steven universe fandom is toxic the arcane fandom is toxic the bleach fandom is toxic#helluva and hazbin are toxic#when someone has a differing opinion and people don’t respond in kind#it’s a breeding ground for toxicity#some fandoms are certainly worse than others but#helluva boss critical

Hi, Hezu! Love your videos! I just saw the latest one, and I completely agree with all yours and Corey's points!
Personally, as someone who loves mythology and folklore. another thing I didn't like is how wasted the Biblical characters seem to be. Adam for example could've been such an interesting character if they had emphasized the fact that he had been the first husband and the first father, having been (in his eyes, at least) betrayed over and over again, first by his two wives, then by his eldest son after the first murder, with Heaven—perhaps unintentionally—encouraging his worst traits in their efforts to comfort him, until he became a twisted version of himself. But no. Instead he's a generic asshole with little to no depth to him at all.
Lucifer could've been a grand and imposing figure, maybe even serve as a foil to his own daughter, but instead, he's just an estranged father with a love for rubber ducks of all things. And I dread what they'll end up doing with Lilith. Never mind that the main setting is literally Hell, but it feels so underutilized, though Heaven is hardly better.
It just feels like Vivzie wanted to do what The Good Place did, without really understanding what made The Good Place work.
I've mentioned this before but I think Adam should have been like, an old man priest sort of guy- who doesn't practice what he preaches. He's stuck in his old traditions and is an extremist in regards to the teachings of God. He'd be so holier than thou, he'd be a wonderful villain to hate.
There's a lot Corey and I kept out of the S1 review out of fear of coming across as nitpicky, as I've been many times with Vivziepop's shows in the past, but I didn't even mention another contradiction regarding Lilith and Adam. Lucifer gave Eve & humanity "free will" and that's what shattered the peace and order of Heaven, but that doesn't make any sense because Lilith had free will in the first place since she defied Adam from the start.
/// side tangent that I think is insanely funny to me as someone currently reading the bible... God is such an inexperienced father. This man has no clue what he is doing and it's so funny to me that people spread the misinformation that God "has a plan" because he doesn't. God became so excited to make humans and animals that he forgot they needed to eat and realized the seeds he planted around the Earth would take forever to grow. So he made them pre-grown food in the Garden of Eden- he made this garden specifically for them so they wouldn't die since he didn't have the foresight in his excitement. And in that garden, he places the fig(most likely) tree of good and evil knowledge- in the garden DESIGNED for Adam and Eve and he tells them they can eat anything in the Garden EXCEPT that tree. Why would you put that there in the FIRST PLACE?! That's like a parent putting their children in a playpen, and leaving BATTERIES ON THE GROUND AT THE CENTER OF IT! These humans are innocent in the sense that they're completely inexperienced as they were just born, and don't have the brain capacity to know any better! People focus so much on Adam and Eve being tricked into eating the fruit, but they never mention God's part in all this! That's straight up parental negligence!
(Anyway I wanna review the Bible one day... it's gonna be... VERY chaotic)
#a lot of people also focus on the womans punishment for eating the fruit to “obey her husband”#but no one demonizes snakes- snakes were punished by getting their “arms” amputated#and men are punished and must work in the fields until their limbs are in agony and they come home covered in weed thorns#its basically just misogynistic gender role traditionalism#according to the old testament- god is also a fascist who believes in generational punishment#your father can commit a crime but you as the innocent kid could be punished for it#the bible lore is so insane man i need to analyze this nonsense#hazbin hotel critical

Thoughts on Deltarune if you have played it?
Yes, I LOVE Deltarune a lot! I'm not a fan of chapter 1. That was awkward and kinda boring for me. Chapter 2 though, ohhhhhh mANNnnn thats what got me hooked! The villain was so much more interesting, and the mysteries really started to build up after that- especially since chapter 2 is where we're introduced to the weird/genocide/snow grave route. Spamton is also a big favorite- and I adore Susie! There's a ton of parallels to Undertale, even though I know these are essentially two separate worlds. I wonder if Toby is going to connect these two, if at all- because the world building implications of Deltarune are a little concerning. Deltarune essentially implies that Undertale is actually a dark world- and there may be a possibility that everyone awake there is dead. Which doesn't make any sense and also wrecks the meaningful plot of Undertale... so I kinda hope Deltarune's lore stays away from Undertale.
That being said, Deltarune has a repetitive issue of lore dumping out of the blue. Every chapter Ralsei is like "Let me explain a sudden two paragraph lore dump to you" and it gets annoying after a while since I'd rather learn about that stuff naturally instead of being told about it. I'm curious about the prophecy, the roaring knight... it's a fascinating game to have our protagonist doing something shady behind our backs- as we are the player. Kris is really going through it, man.
I love Deltarune and the mystery surrounding the Holiday family. That being said however, I feel like we were baited. This game teaser was all about Gaster / Goners / Gaster followers, and yet, I'm starting to think this game has nothing to do with Gaster at all. Like he's not involved in the plot, he's just a narrator observing what is happening in another world. I'm concerned that's all there is to him here, like he's not a main antagonist, he's not even a main character. He was the biggest loose end of Undertale, and if he's not gonna be touched upon until possibly the last minute, I'm gonna be a bit disappointed. They keep implying Gaster, Sans, and Papyrus will become part of the plot more later, but I don't really see how. They don't have a part in the story of Dess and the Dreemurrs at all. They're just neighbors down the street.
Also, completely, totally personal opinion that doesn't ruin the experience of Deltarune for me, but still something I feel strongly about: I adore Susie, but I'm disappointed that she's fake. No one liked her (Except for Noelle for some odd reason). She was a punk, she stole, she didn't do school work, she probably has a bad family life. She literally grabbed Kris, slammed them into a locker, and threatened to bite their head off. She threatened to kill Lancer. But she's a complete, total fake. She doesn't actually have the guts to do any of that. She's bluffing. I'm lowkey disappointed in that. Ironically, Noelle is the one who is actually gonna be doing some damage, Noelle seems to be the one who is "killing" people (tho not really) I'm really sad that the genocide route has nothing to do with Susie. I kinda wanted to see her actually follow through, I wanted to see her go down a dark path, and Kris's friendship or the players influence would decide which path she'd choose, but this story is unfortunately not about her. Its about the Holidays, and because of that, the story forces you to use Noelle instead for the purpose of whatever the plot surrounding Dess is. The fact that to even get the genocide route going with Noelle, it's so needlessly complicated and strange, players would initially have absolutely no clue how to even initiate it in the first place- it feels so random until we meet the roaring knight, and realize Dess may be behind all this. But it feels like we're doing homework before we even get the actual assignment. I'm personally more attached and interested in Susie's character because she gets the most screen time with us, and she's the most interesting and frankly one of our most powerful trump cards in the game. I don't really care about Noelle at all. (She's just a "nice girl" with an over controlling mom- she's a bit flat.) For all of Susie's threats- they're ALL bluffs? Really? I want a route where she snaps!
Chapter 4 also introduced the Titans and I genuinely have no idea what to make of that at all. Why can we purify the titan babies? Why does the titan have a save light like we do? Why does the roaring knight want to leave the world in darkness? Why do Monsters create different dark worlds? What determines which worlds are darker than others? What determines which darkners can move/live in some worlds while not in others? What are the shadow pieces for- and why does Seam want us to collect them? Anyway, the gameplay is fantastic as always to me. I like how creative Toby is getting, and the animation is improving so much. Definitely playing future chapters to see where it takes us!

Thoughts on Lars Of The Stars?
VERY EXCITED! I was practically begging CN to give SU more time, especially from Lars perspective. I am hoping that, we at least get some backstory of Lars exploring homeworld more with the other gems. Because if it jumps right into Lars being captain without explaination of anything, I'd be a bit disappointed. I want to see Lars grow into a leader, I want to see Lars interact with and befriend these gems over time. Otherwise if its just Lars' space planet or space villain of the week I'm probably gonna dip from my interest. I just hope we get more inner workings of gem culture.

How far are you into your owl house video? I’m interested to see what you have to say on the show.
Haven't started yet, truth be told- I'm rewatching and taking notes. I'm half way through season 1 so far.
The next video will be the Hazbin Hotel season 1 review

It's very validating to listen to you agree with other people talking about the absolute lack of nuance in HB and HH when it comes to all of the aspects of the story, but, if you aren't going to review them now or in the near future considering the states of the shows, do you think you'd ever do a retrospective review when both are over and have their finales? (Not including crossovers that may or may not happen, like a Vees spinoff or a FizzOzzie spinoff Viv has proposed, depending on how well the shows do once they finish on Amazon?)
I'm only going to review Hazbin & Helluva season 1 and season 2. I'm stopping after that, because I'm just seeing repeated patterns of the exact same issues, I've essentially run out of stuff to talk about. It feels like milking something that has run dry, even if it claims to only be half way through its storyline.
#hazbin hotel critical#helluva boss critical#fast pacing- male character bias- illogical world building- retconned plot lines- ship pandering- missed potential-#its just the same stuff

Martha x Mayberry being confirmed and Mayberry being confirmed a lesbian makes absolutely no sense??? She had a husband, found out he cheated, had a mental breakdown and preformed a murd3r su1c1d3, paid assassins to have Martha killed after finding out she’s still alive cause she was the one that was sleeping with her husband (still unsure where she even got that information to begin with cause she’s in hell and has no access to the living world) and now they’re suddenly dating and Mayberry is suddenly a lesbian???? Wtf???
It’s very much fandom ship pandering
This is actually the same thing that happened to Stolas too, where he was implied to be bi or pan in season one, considering he had a wife who loved him enough to go to theme parks with him and slept in the same bed as him, had a daughter with him, and got rightfully upset and deeply betrayed when he cheated on her.
Only for Viv to change the narrative come season 2 and make him 100% gay by changing his marriage to be one of forced unwanted arrangement, one of such blatant hatred and toxicity that it suddenly makes it okay for him to have cheated on her in the first place.
#this sort of happened with Cheri and Pentious too#they weren’t romantically interested in the slightest in the pilot#they were total opposites total rivals - nothing more#and viv decided to ship them out of the blue for the official series#helluva boss critical#hazbin hotel critical

Tbh I fucking hate how Blitz was talking to Stolas on the balcony at the end of Sinsmas. When he said that “Octavia will understand eventually” and when he talked about Barbie Wire he stated “if you hurt someone and they don’t want to forgive you, then you just gotta keep trying”
Um??? No??? Your actions have consequences, and forgiveness is up to the victim. If you do something shitty and ask for forgiveness, and the victim chooses not to forgive you and even cuts you out of their life, then they are completely in the right to do so. It doesn’t even matter if you “didn’t mean it”, you still fucked up either way. You ESPECIALLY do not constantly chase after said victim and try to pressure them into forgiving you, when they want nothing to do with you and they want to be left alone. That is literally HARASSMENT AND STALKING.
It just left a really bad taste in my mouth, because all it did for me was further prove just how toxic Blitz and Stolas’ relationship is. I think Stolas should just get a job somewhere else and get his own apartment so he can properly heal from loosing his daughter and do some self reflection, being coddled by Blitz constantly clearly is not healthy for him especially if Blitz is just going to say shit like that.

Why does the narrative say that when Adam kills sinners it’s bad but when Blitz kills humans it’s totally fine?
Blitz kills people constantly whether they are innocent or not for money. He is actively going against the balance and sending people to hell constantly and is also actively contributing to the over population problem in hell. He also takes great pride and sadistic pleasure in his work and he swears and makes d!ck jokes constantly.
Adam is also killing people, the difference however is that these people are already in hell and from what I’ve seen everyone in hell is either an asshole like Angel or genuinely evil like Alastor. Adam was also assigned to do it by the angelic council themselves because of over population and is not doing anything illegal or interfering with the balance. He also takes great pride and sadistic pleasure in his work and he swears and makes d!ck jokes constantly.
I’m not saying Adam is good person. I’m saying Adam and Blitz are very similar to each other, and imo Blitz is way worse than Adam, yet Adam is seen as the only villain here for some reason…
That's actually an issue Helluva Boss has, where they make the antagonists worse than our main characters to excuse our main characters' bad behavior. Most of the people Blitz & Co are up against: Annoying jerk kid in the pilot, satan worshippers, rich money hoarders, hollywood obsessive weirdos, bitchy alcoholic ex-girlfriend Verosika and her band of sexual harassers, asshole ex-friend robo Fizz who is absolved of any wrong doing the second Viv wants him as a main character, power imbalance black mailer demon Prince Stolas who cheated on his wife- forcing Blitz into a relationship only to absolved of any wrong doing now that Viv wants him as a true main of the show; jerk father Paimon, jerk father of Blitzo, jerk father of Moxie, jerk shark exboyfriend of Moxie and Millie, shallow bitchy sister Barbie, shallow bitchy twin clown girls, shallow bitchy teenage girls from camp... and then there's the two embodiments of sin- gluttony and lust, but they're treated like a good thing in comparison to the others for some reason. "We just want to party and be sexually free!" instead of the point of them being sins is overuse and abuse of those concepts...
The government agents and the Cherubs are the only non-evil antagonists in the show, but they're overlooked if not ignored. (and even then, the Cherubs are made to look like racists I guess?????? and well, its the US government, so... that's an impossible thing to not be evil or corrupt in some way... these are pretty low bars here)
Hazbin has a similar issue, where they need to make the antagonists look worse than our mains to excuse our main characters bad behavior or beliefs. That's one of the biggest problems Viv faces as a writer, is keeping her characters complex. It's very hard for her to have them do something aborttently wrong or unforgivable, which is unfortunate, because that's the entire point of the show. That's what the characters are in hell for. That's what made it so intriguing in the first place. Watching someone take the worst of the worst and redeem them? What a writing challenge! What a complexity! What a concept for an adult show, this I had to see!
But low and behold, in the end... :/ I was disappointed
#i heard that show good omens might have done that too#where they made heaven evil too??#but ive never watched that show and probably wont so#but yeah i saw the spoilers for how one of the characters got into hell#apparently they just witnessed a murder but didnt tell anyone about it#imagine you witness a murder and you dont say anything out of fear of being killed and the cops are corrupt and unlikely to do anything-#and in the afterlife you're sent to hell with them like you did something just as horrible#that doesnt make any sense to me#but yeah have blitz and co kill good people man!!!#i wanna see them be actual demons they are!!!!#helluva boss critial#hazbin hotel critical
