do you ever think that the ending of six hundred strike, actually added to the poseidon & athena beef? like i can just imagine them both in beds in apollo's olympus infirmary, just arguing with/at each other! meanwhile poor apollo is just tying to heal them both.
athena: *ranting* i've been odysseus' mentor/friend since he was a teenager! and he still didn't listen to me!
athena: i told him to put his emotions aside but noooooo, he had to let the cyclops live!
apollo: athen-
poseidon: are you forgetting he literally stabbed me? repeateDLY? WITH MY OWN TRIDENT?
apollo: poseid-
athena: *ignoring poseidon and continuing her rant* ruTHlesNEsS iS meRCy UpOn OUrseLVEs. isn't that what you said?!
poseidon: well yeah, BUT HOW WAS I TO EXPECT THAT SAD WET CAT OF A MAN WOULD BE FILLED WITH SOME FORM OF DIVINE RAGE?
apollo: please you two are gonna open your stitche-
athena: oh you deserved it. you literally showed the man his island before trapping him AND THEN you started THREATENING his wife and son? oh that was your final mistake.
poseidon: whatever! so much for you calling him a warrior of the mind. he's a monster!
athena: *wipes tear away* i know, im so proud.
apollo: *tired of their bickering & now glowing in anger* please for "dad's"sake will you two just shut up and let me heal you both?!
poseidon & athena: *shuts up immediately* o-ok

dancing with our hands tied, feat. the incomparable brooke eyler and bluejayonx
not quite a one-to-one but I hope the feeling stays the same anyway—the lighting and the atmosphere held me captive for a solid 7 hours but alas it’s time to let it go

Was in the car with a few of my brothers when I (oldest, riding shotgun) told one (upper middle, driving) that our mutual brother (youngest, back seat) had Damian Wayne vibes.
This started an excellent conversation about the virtues of various Robins that abruptly ended when I admitted Jason Todd was my favourite, upon which my brother (the one driving) groaned loud enough to alarm truckers in the other lane

So this was a one-and-done beat from Marvel Zombies 4, by Fred Van Lente and Kev Walker, which featured a zombie outbreak in the quote-unquote "regular" Marvel Universe, on the fictional Caribbean island of Taino (not sure if this is a deliberate historical reference or not.) Two panels after being introduced, these three are annihilated by an airborne cloud of zombie virus and stitched together into a shambling monster that rambles about how it fights for Truth, Justice, and the Corporate Way. That's ancillary to the point. Ignore that. What this gets me thinking about again is this concept that I have of Super Hero "Dark Matter" worldbuilding, which is the fact that basically every horrible deconstructive beat, every subversive cynical implication of the existence of superheroes you can think of, everything you'd associate by default with The Boys or Invincible (or, on the lighter end of the spectrum, Astro City,) all of that is probably already canon within the DC and Marvel Universes; canonized in niche little miniseries or cult-classic runs of niche characters. Often, canonized in ways that imply the existence of common, broad dynamics that exist within the world, outside the protagonist-centered provincialism of New York or Gotham or Metropolis; all sorts of shit going on that we don't see until it comes into fleeting contact with Spider-Man's knuckles. In this case, the logic is that if superhumans exist- indeed, if superheroes exist- then superhuman-backed neocolonialism would follow. These three aren't here to protect Taino; they're here to protect a fucking resort from the people of Taino, in the event that the American tourists need to leave in a hurry. They work for Roxxon, which is the by-default evil Marvel corporation, the name they break out whenever they want to quickly signal that they're doing a story about corporate malfeasance; what are the odds that these were the only three like this that Roxxon had on Payroll? The one corporate holding being protected this way? That'd be a hell of a coincidence. You can infer an entire ecosystem of these corporate thugs floating around in the background of Marvel, becoming an explicit presence in ones and twos when Mark Waid or Al Ewing need some vile corporate sellouts for a quote-unquote "real" hero (someone with their name on the cover) to beat within an inch of their life. But you start doing the numbers on how many times this kind of plot beat comes up, and you start to come to the conclusion that the Marvel and DC universes have, in fact, always been exactly as dystopian and fucked up as something like The Boys. It's just that in a single-author dedicated deconstruction, the story is allowed to actually notice and remember.

no i’m with you! i was one of the few people who didn’t think that kstews character should dump her partner and date aubrey plaza instead. don’t get me wrong i loved her character i just didn’t think that was the right move for the narrative and i didn’t hate harper like seemingly most people did
I really love all the characters, honestly. I felt like Harper’s mistakes were rooted in understandable fear, and that was…kind of the point. To have Abby dump this woman she loves at the first sign of trial would have sent a pretty awful message. Like “better not fuck up, or she’ll ditch your ass for AUBREY PLAZA—and she SHOULD.” That would have really bummed me out. I loved that Abby could just rely on this cool new friend, and we didn’t have to venture into the usual wlw-all-have-to-bang-each-other (often-by-cheating) territory that scarred me as a young gay.

i hate the fact the term karen went from describing a bitchy entitled customer to basically the modern day equivalent of calling a woman a harpy (misogynistic as fuck) and that people use the term on people out in public who are at the end of their rope emotionally from stress or a shitty day. I get it just because your having a rough time doesn't mean you get to be a dick but sometimes I think people are seriously lacking in empathy and I get it a lot shit the customer might be dealing with isn't your responsibility but like if a customer is struggling with something simple maybe don't be a dick? Just a thought.

I know I keep drawing Apollo with a knife (specifically the GYAXA knife, which has interesting implications of its own), but as I offhandedly mentioned before, it's slightly more reasonable for me to see him using atroquinine as a killer.
Not only does he seem to harbor slow-burning, relatively hidden anger as compared to suddenly snapping on people- regarding the time period around Dual Destinies, anyways- but we also get another fun parallel to Kristoph. Apollo would likely be aware of this, it even being where he'd likely get the idea from.
Even though they really don't talk about it at all in-game and there isn't much of an insinuation that the man left that much of a mark on his lapsed mentee, I do feel like Apollo saw Kristoph as a vague father figure for the short time they worked together, and still misses him to some extent even following his conviction. And maybe, as the world around him grew less reasonable and more frustrating, the killer's thoughts and methodology started to grow on the man?
With that bottle of atroquinine, lent to him as evidence but mistakenly never returned, growing more and more tempting as the days drew on...
