Last week was great for me- because not only I finally got volume 8 (in english) of mdzs manhua, but also, FINALLY AFTER WAITING FOR ETERNITY FOR A MIRACLE, I got my paws of first volume of manga "The Teen Exorcist" (og. SHOUNEN ONMYOUJI).

Like, damn, I waited 17 years for this moment.

Imagine loving series so much, but not hoping for a miracle since fabdom is SO SMALL.

AND THERE BOOM.

Suddenly someone picks up that series and makes new manga version.

reading this now i can see why the exorcist world was gossiping abt it so much lol two past matoba rivals from "failed" clans suddenly working together would definetly be concerning to the status quo, but bc it's natsume's pov we only get a passing comment here, in miharu arc and most importantly in homura where natori actually is helping matoba instead

now i'm rethinking some things abt this situation, like seiji pointing out that natori was working with yorishima was pretty run of the mill bc he spies on natori ever since world unbent (and loooves some gossip as we know it), but having matsuzaki comment on it in the first homura chapter kinda implies that natori and yorishima getting closer recently is well known amongst exorcists and when you top this off with matsuzaki conspiring with shinobu and offering patronage to natori, well it puts things into perspective

which makes me think if natori was sly enough to make his new association with yorishima obvious to other exorcists on purpose, bc let's face it, if what you see on the surface is this would you ever think natori was matoba's personal informant? like idk if he was thinking abt "sharing burdens" ever since yorishima's introduction chapter, but these circunstances definetly make, i'm assuming, majority of exorcists not even consider him as a "support" for the matoba head, but maybe not shinobu tho

#also it's pretty in character for him to be this sly when it comes to the exorcist world #he is natori “shady” shuuichi after all (at least according to nyanko sensei lol)#also idt natori started seeing yorishima for this purpose but i am starting to think he took advantage of the situation #but if shinobu was still around to see natori and matoba together during their teen years #i wonder if she would fall for this #that includes ban as well since he used to work for the matobas #it all depends on the timing of their departure from the clan i suppose #natsume yuujinchou #horrible exorcists #exorcists politics continue to fascinate me #and i actually love the fact we get almost nothing of it from natsume's pov #bc i like deducing and theorizing when it comes to this part of the manga #also natori got the whole “a burden can be shared” thing from natsume's influence #and the fact he trusted him with the truth abt the book of friends #so i do hc he started reflecting abt matoba (and heritage and legacy in general) after the first hakozaki arc

for the record high teen boogie (1982) is not natori's favorite movie, but it is the only movie matoba ever successfully dragged him to see in high school. therefore matoba assumes it's his favorite movie.

It’s the fact that he didn’t have to be miserable.

All of his agonies about his weakness and monstrousness and lack of control was self-constructed, self-inflicted and he didn’t need to be miserable.

#fuck man if I could show it to 14 year old me #I might’ve had a wake up call much sooner #yukio is so interesting in the way his trauma is formed. he’s physically weak he’s a gifted kid and a perfectionist meant to be a protector #he has too much responsibility on his shoulders and he’s mourning and he can’t trust his stable-pillar (the true cross org)#his brother is working against him at everystep and he’s having a (high stakes) teen identity crisis #and he didn’t need to be miserable #he isolated himself thinking that to open up was to burden others and that those around him getting stronger made him weak #bc they no longer needed protection #it’s the realization that at a certain point he was the one making up these ideas of his inferiority and his unforgivablity #and god when it cracks it feels awful and freeing bc #it’s vulnerable-awfully so-and it’s overwhelming bc you are suddenly open to all the love you have felt cut off from #and it’s sad. bc again. you didn’t need to feel the way you did for so long #so seeing it played out. seeing him wake up in that moment of ‘I decided it was unforgivable and no one else feels that way’#and then seeing him sit down for a meal with ppl who know and love him through his mistakes #him deciding he wants to be able to forgive himself one day??#it’s so much to me.#yukio okumura they could never make me hate you #blue exorcist #my post #yukio okumura #ao no exorcist

one of my favorite senarios to imagine to put yukio in is sending him 10 years into the future (with the exwires usually) and everyone from their class are like chill adults including himself working their boring ass exorcist job and hes trying to assert dominance over them as the teacher™ but they're all like bro why so serious?

#somehow in my future au i accidently made only the boys active exorcists im so sorry to all the women in aoex #they all passed but i think shiemi and izumo would leave to persue other passions but still be in ajacent fields #like shiemi still runs her exorcist shop #idk what izumo does maybe she still is an exorcist but shes on leave trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life #cuz so much of her adolescence was focused vengence for her family i think she would be kinda lost as an adult #ive said this a bunch of times but rin isnt actually an exorcist for the same reason izumo isnt #ive been kinda muddy on my own timeline but either he passed and left or he dropped out of school and ran away #i think hes like an independent demon slayer like a contract worker #so he still is basically an exorcist but not sanctioned by the vatican like as part of a mercenary guild or something #but he can still take exorcist missions if he wants to but usually its not worth it so he just helps out yukio or bon on their missions #i think after being a literal terrorist yukio got demoted and lost his license for a bit so hes still the same rank as he is now #but now hes medicated and he went to therapy #he has like no memory of highschool to almost a concerning degree and hes generally pretty muted but is still well liked #bon had a completely normal exorcist experience against all odds actually so did koneko except koneko went back to the myoda #and then shima got scouted for his amazing spy skills and works overseas #sorry shima ur not allowed to be an idol that might be the trigger for the bad end #anyway i think teen yukio would hate adult yukio because he thinks hes not allowed to be normal and happy #this is like the 4th time ive made this post like i said its one of my favorites #the reverse is rin going to the past and like tutoring the exorcist class #nobody wants to do yukio psychoanalysis but me so i gotta step up to the plate #jk theres a lot of good yukio fanfics #blue exorcist #ao no exorcist #yukio okumura #rin okumura

It is the best show of friendship and humanity I have seen on tv. It deserves poetry and even then not even the most eloquent of words could describe what they have. Love is not a big enough word.
