OKAY BUT DO YOU KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THE PJO BOOKS ARE cuz I really hope that this tv series becomes a jumping off point for kids with ADHD and dyslexia and other ND stuff to finally find a book series they love, not just because I loved it myself but because ND kids deserve to fall in love with books!!!
My brother is a genius, super smart guy I am so proud of him every single day, but he was always so behind in school because his dyslexia went undiagnosed for ages (my whole family’s dyslexic but his is the worst case by far) and compared to me who was a complete book worm my whole life, he had NOTHING to love in books because every time he read them, he just struggled over and over again. He had given up on books, learning, everything because no books spoke to him and made him WANT to keep trying. Jump cut to me introducing him to the PJO book series!! I was probably ranting about them because I was just an AuDHD girlie hyperfixating and I don’t even remember how I convinced him to read it but you know what happened when DID start reading it??? HE NEVER STOPPED! THAT HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND IT WAS SO EXCITING FOR MY FAMILY (MY MOM IS LITERALLY A READING SPECIALIST FOR KIDS SHE WAS SO FUCKING STOKED) THAT THEY GOT HIM THE PJO BOX SET FOR CHRISTMAS AND THAT IS THE MOST WELL-LOVED, YELLOW-PAGED, FALLING APART AT THE SEAMS BOX SET IN OUR HOUSE FULL OF BOOKS BECAUSE MY BROTHER AND I KEEP READING THEM!!!!
I WANT THE SAME FOR THIS NEW GENERATION OF KIDS!! I WANT SOME OF THESE GEN ALPHA BABIES TO STUMBLE UPON THE SHOW, WATCH IT, PICK UP THE BOOKS, AND HAVE A COME TO JESUS MOMENT JUST LIKE MY BROTHER DID BECAUSE THAT’S WHY THEY’RE SO IMPORTANT!!! BECAUSE THERE IS A BOOK SERIES (SEVERAL EVEN) THAT SPEAKS SO WELL TO THE KIDS THAT HAVE GIVEN UP ON LISTENING
anyway here’s to the anniversary of getting our PJO box set, Merry Christmas :)

Sometimes studying can be difficult. I feel like I'm late for everything. But I have to try. Maybe the end of the road will be beautiful, we can't know until we try.

Finally a peice that talks about how 5 of the 6 in the people killed in the sydney stabbings were women. And yes he was mentally ill but he felt entitled to a girlfriend.
By Victoria Smith 16 April, 2024
Did Joel Cauchi, the man who killed six people in a Sydney shopping centre, do so because he was mentally ill? Or did he do it because he hated women?
Five out of six of Cauchi’s victims were women, which does seem targeted. Nonetheless, according to his family, Cauchi, 40, “battled with mental health issues since he was a teenager”. For this reason, some have found talk of misogyny unseemly, if not exploitative. To categorise Cauchi’s act as male violence against women, if not terrorism underpinned by misogynist ideology, can be appear dismissive of genuine sickness. Sometimes, bad things just happen because people are unwell.
For women who live with men who have severe mental health diagnoses, there is little comfort in discussions such as these. On the one hand, there is an enormous amount of pressure to downplay the idea that mentally ill men are more likely to be violent than other men (they are, but to say so is viewed as contributing to stigma). On the other hand, is it fair for a man with severe mental illness to be judged by the same moral standards as other men? Shouldn’t we be recognising that they cannot control their perceptions and fears?
See rest of article
The Sydney attacker was desperate for a girlfriend, his family has revealed as police confirmed that he had targeted women.
Joel Cauchi killed five women and one man during a knife attack on the Bondi Junction Westfield shopping centre on Saturday.
Karen Webb, the New South Wales police commissioner, said: “The videos speak for themselves. It’s obvious the offender had focused on women and avoided the men.”
The majority of the 12 people Cauchi seriously wounded were female, including a baby girl.
Andrew Cauchi, his father, said on Monday he knew why his mentally unwell son had targeted women. The 76-year-old told reporters outside his home in Queensland: “Because he wanted a girlfriend and he’s got no social skills and he was frustrated out of his brain.”
Describing his son as “very sick”, he described trying to deal with the feelings of “loving a monster”.
A “heroic” policewoman who stopped a lone knifeman mid-rampage during a killing spree in a Sydney shopping centre has been named.
In one of several heroic attempts to disarm the attacker on Saturday, Amy Scott, a NSW Police Inspector, walked up calmly behind the attacker and ordered him to drop his weapon.
When he refused to do so and lunged at her with a knife, she shot him.
Six people were killed after the culprit – later identified by police as Queensland man Joel Cauchi – went on a stabbing spree in Westfield Bondi Junction, including a mother whose baby is reportedly now in a critical condition.
“She is certainly a hero. There is no doubt that she saved lives through her action,” Anthony Albanese, the Australian prime minister, said on Saturday.

day 1/123
hi! little big update in my life, I finished university! well, almost, I need to finish my masters thesis and I'm not gonna lie, it´s a bit scary, so here I am, starting to upload again to get mysfel working!
Today is the first of july and I need to submit my tesis on october 31st (the reason for the 123 days) so the plan is to write a chapter a month or so. I've already organized my schedule so I can create deadlines for myself, take a week off (I don't know if I'll really be completely disconnected or if my computer will go with me) but we'll see and try not stress too much.
I'm a very anxious person and I'm going through a breakup after finishing college and I'm already thinking about doing my internship abroad, it's been a lot, I just can't break now, let's be positive and I'll believe in myself and my abilities! let's do it!!

Every child is obsessed with fantasy, and can you blame them? With a limited understanding of the world, unlimited creativity, a reality based on experience instead of logic, and no indication of laws, fantasy explains everything to them while allowing the imagination to remain uninhibited. Yet, as we grow older, fantasy fades. We learn laws, we are given rules to how the world operates, we are taught logic and scientific causation, but the desire for the unbridled joy of fantasy never fades. Therefore, the general population enjoys movies and books and art and other works that indulge them in fantasy, let them live a little in the shoes they once had. It's brief and fleeting and isn't as powerful as when one was a child, but it is a glimpse and that's enough.
However, there are two populations that are not satisfied with only reliving fantasy briefly, they want to create it. They want to take the magic they once experienced and bring it back. Those are society's engineers and artists.
Engineers believe that fantasy can be recreated through mastering the world. Engineers believe that if they know enough about the world, they understand all the logic, all the science, all the physics, all the math, all the things that killed fantasy, they can bring it back. Not through undoing, but through shaping to their will. After all, if one can master the logic that defines reality, then one can bend that logic into any reality they want. Essentially, if they learn to create everything, fantastical reality is included in that everything and thus, they can create fantasy. Engineers root their search to create magic in their understanding of everything else, believing that at some point, a human must possess enough knowledge to change their logical reality.
Alternatively, artists do not subscribe to that worldview. They diverge from engineers in the methodology of creating magic. Where engineers believe that magic has to adhere to the logical understanding of reality we are offered, artists believe they can create magic through an experience based reality. Artists know perception is reality, so if they can simply make their subjects perceive magic, they can make their subjects believe in that magic. No regard to the rules engineers cling to is given from artists. No, they need not worry about actually changing their world, only the feeling of such. Minds like Christopher Nolan or Hans Zimmer never let go of the magical feeling they experienced as children, thus they know what their goal is. After that, it is just finding the right chords to pluck and colors to show.
Two entities walk towards the same goal, but their paths vary greatly. One knows what the other does not, though neither can say who lacks. Both never let go of their childhood dream, instead they work tirelessly to revive it. While everyone else watches them and reaps their benefits, two wild minds redefine reality.

Wait. But what if Henry is majoring in architecture.
#it makes SENSE#because i was like okay he lives in Hardwick House alone because he and Sabrina convinced her parents to rent him a room#but also with this economy it would be silly to just rent out a single room in a multi bedroom house that’s perfectly livable#(if a bit outdated and incredibly dusty)#and i feel like maybe the point is that a) he loves old buildings like we established#and b) maybe they just let him live there because he said he’d take a look at the house and check for structural integrity#and things to be repaired and fixed up to make it a good place to rent#like to be able to rent all the rooms out to college students or young working people#maybe they let him live there for free in exchange for him restoring the house slowly#of course that still kind of raises the question of why he’s there alone when there’s probably other people who’d be glad to#participate in the same kind of project#because the Hardwicks do have money they just haven’t cared all that much about the old house to restore it to its former glory#and by doing this they are essentially getting free labor (which might be morally dubious but like they ARE reimbursing him#for the materials)#like idk it just sort of becomes his pet project and he gets to live there for free for the duration of college or even the duration#of the project if he wants but he has to work at it in his spare time#though that comes down more to acting as a contractor and decorator than an architect#I don’t really know I’m just spitballing#because the more I think of it the weirder it is that a uni student can rent a house like that by himself with no catch#like originally the catch was that it was just dusty and neglected for twenty or so years#and he had to stick to a single bedroom / sitting room / bathroom / kitchen#and basically the ground floor with the drawing room and the library and stuff isn’t in his jurisdiction#and he just stays upstairs in his little area that he’s cleaned up + the kitchen which is downstairs#like he definitely snoops around all the rooms in the house but he doesn’t *live* in them yk#but like yes what if!!! he was there to remodel! like on the weekends and stuff!#and it became his passion too#and MAYBE he finds the portal while remodeling instead of by just accidentally tripping and falling through the wall#that would be cool actually!!!!! oooooh#elly writes!#hardwick house
