When King Asty′ages was laid with his father, Cyrus the Persian received his kingdom. And Daniel was a companion of the king, and was the most honored of his friends.

Now the Babylonians had an idol called Bel, and every day they spent on it twelve bushels of fine flour and forty sheep and fifty gallons of wine. The king revered it and went every day to worship it. But Daniel worshiped his own God.

What is Bel and The Dragon

Bel and the Dragon is one of several additions to the book of Daniel. The original book of Daniel ends after chapter twelve. The extra material is found only in translations, such as the Septuagint, but not in the Masoretic Text. Bel and the Dragon is a later addition most likely derived from various legends and folk stories about Daniel. This non-canonical material includes chapter 13, known as the “Song of the Three Children”; chapter 14, known as “Susanna”; and chapter 15, known as “Bel and the Dragon.” The fifteenth chapter is a single narrative in three parts.

Her law-brother rests a hand on Morwen's arm, and Rían bends down hastily, not wanting to see what lies in his eyes, to bury her hands in the blanket, and its rich, white wool. She smooths down the little pillow carefully, taking care not to brush against the dead, cornsilk curls.

“Tell me —” Morwen is saying, “Tell me it is some deep-seated custom of your people that cannot be reasoned with, but held some meaning once. Tell me you know it is foolish to an outsider.”

“You are no outsider here.”

“Húrin!”

Rían winces at the edge in her voice and the cornsilk curls shift and fall across the white linens, as if when a child stirs in sleep, but only with the movement of her hand.

I don't debate who would've won when Terry was about to throw hands with Robby at the S4 AVT, because the image of The Terry Silver consistently feeling threatened enough by this three apples tall ball of childhood neglect and anger issues, to treat him the same as his main adult enemies (squaring up, making a point of laughing him off like "look how not threatened I am by you") is too hilarious to be a practical question.

In the story of Terry Silver, his biggest adversaries are a middle-aged New Jersey-Italian twunk, a barely functioning alcoholic, his own repressed homosexuality, a man who would rather go on a revenge quest on another continent for his old twink fling than confess his feelings for a woman, and a Literal Teenage Boy

Sveyko struggled a lot with her emotional control as a child and often had apparent mood swings where she'd become incredibly violent or fearful for reasons others couldn't understand. She herself couldn't understand it most of the time and being so young it was difficult for her to articulate what was wrong. Her twin sister S'veyk did not seem to suffer from these issues, causing Sveyko feelings of deep inadequacy. Like she was stupid, a failure, no-good. She often thought to herself that if she weren't born and it was just S'veyk, everyone would be happier. The above illustration is a moment that happens after Sveyko attempts to run away. While bringing her back home, Sveyko starts fighting back against Sek and ends up striking him. Fearful and guilty, she immediately begins to cry and Sek wordlessly carries her home. At home, just outside the door, Sek tells her she shouldn't hit people and she apologizes. She won't look at him, trying to hide her face because she's still crying and thinks she'll be scolded for it. She worries that the only adult who's ever been kind to her...this is it. This is the moment where she's tried his patience for the last time. She wants to be better but doesn't know how and she's done it, this is the end. He's going to be angry with her. He's going to abandon her. Sek calls her name and she reluctantly looks up at him, apologizing again. But there's no anger in her father's face as he sinks down to one knee, looking her in the eye. "Sveykokam," he says, staring at her earnestly. "If it were possible for me to love anyone, it would be you." It's a moment Sveyko thinks of often and never tells anyone else. Even as an adult. She'll think of it until her dying day. "If it were possible for me to love anyone, it would be you."

I was thinking more about how Yokai life stages are so different from ours and what kind of effect that would have on everything else. Like, if we assume their life cycles is similar to that of a human, just on a much longer scale, then a Yokai could be in their 'child-bearing years' for literally centuries. (I mean, it all depends on the Yokai and the life cycle of their source DNA and how much they inherited from that, but assuming most of them are more human-like) And their kids do take slightly longer to mature, but not by that much.

I've already figured that there's much less of a push to get people having babies as soon as they can-they've got so much time, and especially since Yokai are generally healthier and less susceptible to disease they're expecting most of those kids to survive to adulthood. That would just be a lot of babies, and rapid population growth would really put a strain on resources. So even though Yokai are legal adults at 20 and probably reach sexual maturity around the same time as humans, having kids before you're a century old is considered super early. Like, Bella is 45, and she would practically be considered a teen mother if she had a kid now. "You're not even fifty yet, oh my god, you haven't lived! You need time on your own to figure out who you are!" (ironically, there are kids she went to school with who are grandparents now)

But anyway, considering the baby-having window is so wide and Yokai kids don't take that long to grow up, I feel like it would be the norm to have one, maybe two kids and then raise them to adulthood before having the next. That way you're not splitting your attention between a bunch of kids and can devote all your energy and resources into the one you're working on right now. Then once the kid is a young adult and doesn't really need to be actively parented anymore, then they can move onto the next one.

This also makes Draxum's decision to mutate and raise four mutant children at once even more unhinged.

Going feral for Bway The Pitiful Children rn like it’s SUCH a villain song it’s so good especially that instrumental break after Jenna’s part like omg… when u can hear the Squip in the back faintly singing ‘the pitiful children’ in the cast recording scratches an itch in my brain I didn’t know I had… Jeremy’s little voice growl(?) thing (idk what it’s called) on “LEt’s teach the pitiful children who haven’t a clue” after Jenna gets squipped in the cast recording… the official cast recording in general… THE LIGHTS AND CHOREOGRAPHY ONSTAGE O EM GEE!!! Dare I say it’s the most visually appealing song??

And the way the “everything about us is going to be wonderful” part and onward is calling back to Be More Chill Pt. 2….. and how switching from “everything about you is going to be wonderful/we love everything about you” to “everything about us is going to be wonderful/we love everything about Squips” is only reenforcing how at this point it’s like the Squip is literally a part of Jeremy now like it’s made itself into him and is taking full influence and control of him…. ITS JUST SO GOOD GUYS I LOVE THE PITIFUL CHILDREN!!!! THE PITIFUL CHILDREN!!!!!!

for the past few days i've had the same few lines of Strange Frontier by roger taylor stuck in my head, which is mostly fine except for those lines being, y'know, the ones about an ever present threat of nuclear annihilation, and the fact that i often switch between humming the melody and singing the words quite at random. so i'll just be sitting here, absently humming to myself, and then "but there's nowhere you can run" *back to humming again*

i hope one of my annoyingest traits is my tendency to sing along to a song but in harmony and not melody. i dont even do it on purpose if im honest its just on instinct half the time. even if it doesnt sound good
