Constellations: The Thematic Movie Sonadow song in my humblest opinion
Tumblr media
Stars as a theme are ever present in Sonic 3 and as a lover of astrological symbolism you KNOW I gobbled it up like a last meal. Shadow literally coming from a falling star then having Maria's "the star shines even if it's gone" i'm so happy they committed to this as a motif. The gold of Sonic and Shadow's powered up forms as they fly through the sky like comets, and the fact that just like stars, Shadow and Sonic are quite possibly from galaxies away. Symbolism blah blah blah.
I will now elaborate on why for me, Constellations by the Oh Hellos is on theme with movie Sonadow's story and themes. I hope it's not as boring as it sounds lol I'm just very used to writing these things in a formal essay technique.
To start, the first sound of the song is this gentle guitar, it's very reminiscent of the guitar Maria plays in Shadow's introduction scene in the movie. It's simple, gentle, just like Shadow's life before the G.U.N. Raid. The main singer is our beloved Tyler Heath, with backings from his sister Maggie Heath. I like to think in this context, it's Shadow singing with Maria joining him in the back as a little voice of encouragement. Later, more voices are added to the harmony, and maybe I'm a sentimental bastard but to me it's the new people in Shadow's life (AHEM SONIC) that join in, all of it being a warm reminder that Shadow has a place in the world with those who love him, from the past and future ahead.
Okay lyric brainrot time, I'll try to format this in tandem with the song so that the pauses happen with each separate group of lyrics (Oh Hellos instrumentals are divine by the way). As of writing this post, I'm still pondering some of the lyrics connections but I will make updates if I discover new interpretations!
In general, Constellations is interpreted as a song about breaking past beliefs and the inner turmoil that can result from the cognitive dissonance. Sound familiar?
"I can feel it on my tongue; brick and mortar Thick as scripture, drawing lines in the sand and laying borders As tall as towers I babble on until my voice is gone"
The sensory feeling of something being on the tongue; Shadow is trying to speak but he's held back by his memories. Everything he remember is in the ashes of his once home, and in a bid of self preservation he builds the walls around himself. He knows how the world sees him from all the grief it's put him through in the past, so at least in his eyes, this is necessary to protect himself from future hurt.
"This hill I'll die on is about 90 meters of bricks Coloured indigo, and inscribed with my name, and lined with cedar But the words fall flat like Cymbals crashing, like molars gnashing"
From his despair Shadow plans to die underneath the weight of his own revenge and self isolation. But he still hesitates, as seen in his final conversation with Gerald Robotnik ( "is this what Maria would have wanted?"). His love for Maria, and knowing that she believed the best in him, prevent his anger from full reaching full intensity. In the end, the weights of Shadow's past become his newfound determination. To make right, and hopefully live the life Maria always wanted for him.
"'Cause like constellations a million years away Every good intention, every good intention Is interpolation, a line we drew in the array Looking for the faces, looking for the shapes in the silence"
For a good part of the movie, Shadow is confused of Maria's intentions for him after her death. Would she be angry with her perpetrators? Would she want Shadow to die in an attempt to make right? The only thing he is sure of is his love for his sister, and the love she gave back. It's the anchor point, where all his actions lead back to.
"All that's left for me to climb to the heavens is The chasm of the night and a matter of time But I hear the rumble as the tectonic plates start to shake And I feel my blood pounding like the beat of a drum"
Going a little bit backwards but I interpret this as the perspective of Shadow while still believing vengeance is the right option. He accepts he will die and maybe even see Maria beyond life, even if he has to resort to an unspeakable act (chasm of night). But Sonic is there as his equal not just in skill but past experiences. Sonic's understanding combined with Maria's compassion are what ultimately touch Shadow and shake him from the path of destruction.
"'Cause like constellations a million years away Every good intention, every good intention Is interpolation, a line we drew in the array Clinging to the faces, clinging to the shapes in the silence"
In your classic musical fashion, the chorus returns stronger than the last, and I think of it as Sonic adding his more vivacious energy with Shadow's new confidence in what is right to do. With new perspective, Sonic and Shadow have found their constellation, the key to it being embracing their shared past as a way forward.
"Like constellations imploding in the night Everything is turning, everything is turning And the shapes that you drew may change beneath a different light Everything you thought you knew will fall apart, but you'll be all right"
I LOVE THE MOON SCENE I LOVE IT SO MUCH. As Shadow and Sonic share their past with each other in a moment of vulnerability, the stars glimmer above watchfully. And like the ever changing constellations and systems, Shadow is able to change his perspective on his past. Shadow lost his home, his sister, and his old life. But, I like to imagine it's Sonic that says the last line to him with a hand outstretched. The stars are Sonic and Shadow, aliens from far away who found their light despite the seemingly endless darkness. The stars are reminders of Sonic and Shadow's old lives, which can now be cherished in their hearts as a warm glow, despite not being physically present anymore. And as the world turns to reveal the sun, Shadow's realization of his own heart is recognized as they are both bathed in a heavenly ray. ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
Whew I did that mostly in one sitting I hope it made sense. Maybe I'll do it again with my other playlist's songs it was fun! Please do share thoughts, feedbacks, addons, anything if you have it really! Anyway back to crying to my Sonadow Playlist.

Inatober day 2!
I swear I wrote them on time, I'm just posting them now cause my anxiety was eating me up about anything I do online-
Anyway, I love this one personally. I looooved the prompt, it fit right in for me.
This includes a great deal of personal headcanons that I would love to elaborate on!
2 - constellations / darkness of space
I can feel it on my tongue
Brick and mortar as thick as scripture
Midorikawa didn’t struggle when they threw him into the dark room of what they knew as “The Hotel”. He knew it would be useless, he was done for. Might as well make it easy for them. Why should they try to break an already broken canvas of a being?
For the first week he didn’t move, he didn’t have the strength. Detoxing from daily radiation was worse than drugs. They had to connect him to some weird IV thing to just keep him alive until he could move his arms and eat.
Stuck in one place, for a week. Not moving. Not doing anything really. But thinking. Reviewing. Where did he go wrong? What has he calculated wrong? How could he disappoint Father like this? How could he disappoint… him… like this…?
Who was… he? He lingered in his memory, the very back of it. He brought colors to his sepia-colored dreams. But… where was he now? Was it all Midorikawa’s fault? Why was he always abandoned?
Drawing lines in the sand and laying borders as tall as towers
I babble on until my voice is gone
After 7 days people in suits came and disconnected the IV. They left Midorikawa a tray with some bread and butter and a flat butter knife and called it breakfast. He ate. He didn’t have a choice. After he had finished, he finally assessed how the room looked. It was dark, the walls were… weird… and only a tiny window near the top let him count the days he’d been left there.
Something touched his soul and made him do it. The little marks on the floor. They were days, for sure. All 7 of the ones he’s spent here already. But they were… in a shape, a familiar one. A one that brought… him… back.
Midorikawa sat back on the floor. His eyes flashed with images of something he knew he must know. It was a meeting. They were talking, more people than him and… him… Midorikawa was talking, or rather his mouth was. He was talking about his parents. His first abandonment. His first failure. One of them, a warm presence, said something about hoping they “got what they deserved” and everyone nodded. Midorikawa’s head did too.
“If they haven't yet, they will soon.”
He didn’t know if he said it in the past, in his head, or aloud. It wouldn’t be the first conversation he had in the past where he wasn’t sure. His throat was weaker each time.
He knew soon he wouldn’t be able to speak if he continued.
Memories made his head spin. And while the room was dark as night, there were no stars to trip over except the ones he marked on the floor. He had to get some rest…
This hill I'll die on is about 90 meters of bricks
Colored indigo, inscribed with my name, and lined with cedar
4 days after he got his line disconnected he completed another floor decoration. It was another series of day markers, but these were red, desperate strokes of a desperate person. It looked like a bird in his tired eyes, used to living in the dark after all the time spent there already. His voice was dying with every line he said to his shadow. That didn’t stop him from singing songs from his memories before falling asleep.
He didn’t know how long he’d be locked. His food was steady, but small, not enough to keep him full, but enough to keep him alive.
He wondered if he’d make it out alive.
He marked another day without a blood spill on the wall this time and went to sleep.
But the words fall flat like cymbals crashing
Like molars gnashing
On day 14 more people were brought in. He recognized the voices. All the voices. His head was clearer now, but his memories still remained in pain. But he remembered one name.
Epsilon.
“What do you mean we tied and we still have to come here?!”
“Because Father said so. Apparently, this can help us prepare for his further plans.”
“Bullshit not plans! This is a prison for losers, not us. We got off scot-free. Unlike the rest of suckers locked in here.”
“Underestimate our opponent and you may end up being locked up here as well. And when that time comes, I will not help you.”
“But-”
“And calling Gemini Storm “losers” would be highly inaccurate considering Raimon took 4 attempts to even score them a point and they only won because of that new striker of theirs.”
“You’re defending them?”
“Gemini Storm?” A short moment of silence fell, as Midorikawa felt the gaze of the… The captain stop at his door. He nudged himself over closer. “Yes. They are exceptional players.”
“And Raimon beat them.”
“There will come a time when Raimon will beat Genesis. That’s all I’ll say.”
Midorikawa wanted to scream. He wanted to shout, to make his presence known, but he killed his voice some time ago. And even if he could shout, he couldn’t be heard. He never was. But this time he had the room to fight with.
Because the room was empty, but not in a way an empty room is empty. In an empty room, the echo is unbearable, the only way for it to stop is to fill the room.
This room was so empty even the echo wasn’t there, taken away by the soft material in the ceiling and stripes on the walls.
Midorikawa slid down the door and cried.
All he could do was cry these days.
They gave him more water when he cried.
And the water kept him full.
'Cause like constellations a million years away
Every good intention, every good intention
Is interpolation, a line we drew in the array
Looking for the faces, looking for the shapes in the silence
He walked now. He would get sick when he stood for too long, but he could walk now without pain.
On day 24 he finished another piece. A huge bird that brings thunder and flames. It took up the smaller wall, the one with the window, opposite the door.
At night, he got more and more images of… him… and the Others. He still didn’t remember their names. He couldn’t remember why it hurt to see them all happy. He didn’t recall why he was so scared of them the closer to the Day it got. He didn’t know what happened on the Day, yet, but it was the day when he knew something changed.
He only remembered… him… telling Midorikawa it will all be good. That Father said they will help the world. That it all is done in good faith.
How foolish can a child be to believe an empty promise of a broken man?
Day 25 brought the voices again.
Midorikawa heard another one too. It was sharp, melodic, once again familiar. And it was hostile.
“Get them into separate cells.”
“Desarm, do something! We’re supposed to just stand down?”
“Good little soldiers follow Father's orders without missing their cue.”
“Desarm, will you just let them lock us up?! We did everything he asked for!!”
“And apparently it wasn’t enough to keep your spot above~”
“SAGINUMA WILL YOU JUST SAY SOMETHING!!!”
“Sagi…numa…” Midorikawa rasped out. His throat was getting better after his head got clear enough to talk in it. “Saginuma.” He said again under his breath. He knew they wouldn’t hear him, not like they cared anyway, but he didn’t think his voice could handle loud noises yet. Suddenly he went on autopilot while the voices waited for an answer.
“Saginuma Osamu. 19 years old. Supposed to finish high school but dropped out due to personal conflict. Forward working as a goalkeeper and captain of the Epsilon team of the Aliea Academy. Switched between numbers 1 and 11 due to the previous. Oldest in the Sun Garden orphanage to date. Joined after his… his parents… went their separate ways, the court said he would be better with… us… in the Sun Garden…” Tears came. Typical. He finished and continued listening.
“DESA-”
“I already told you, I won’t help you when Raimon finally beats us. Where to, Gazel?”
“Right, up ahead.”
“Hope you’ll handle your loss better than my team did.”
“We won’t lose. Not to them, not to Gran.”
“We all will eventually…”
All that's left for me to climb to the heavens is
The chasm of the night and a matter of time
After the Epsilon came the nights got loud. They had more power and more strength, their detox went… differently.
Gemini Storm suffered alone in silence.
Epsilon Kai suffered together, their whales breaking through the usual silence of the Hotel. All except Saginuma whose voice remained hidden, silent.
Midorikawa wished he had that power in his voice. The power to shout.
But he never had, not even in the past, much less now.
He ripped the soft material from the wall to the right of the door. He needed space for more days, another picture for his eyes.
He walked so much recently the red he used for his second work faded away. He never wanted to repeat that. little crosses on the concrete made with the metal tool they’d given him beginning week 2 was enough. He was running out of ideas anyway.
The room was still dark. That remained a constant. The perspective from which Midorikawa saw it changed, but the darkness prevailed. Darkness and memories. So many new memories…
Of himself.
Of… him…
Of the Others.
The names started coming back too. Gradually. He knew Saginuma, very well in fact. And not just the formula from the register the Father had. He knew he loved honeydew softbread. He knew where in the orphanage he kept his private box of souvenirs. He knew he played Pulitzer in their low-quality version of orphanage Newsies. He said he wasn’t happy about it, but Midorikawa remembered how much fun they all had back then. Back when things were good…
Before the other kids from the Sun Garden started gradually disappearing. It started the day before Valentine's Day when he was young, maybe 11? On the actual day… he… was summoned by the Father. He was supposed to go. Midorikawa didn’t let him, nobody let him, and the 6 of them all left together.
The rest of that day is pure pain. And darkness…
But I hear the rumble
As the tectonic plates start to shake
And I feel my blood pounding like the beat of a drum
He finished his biggest work on day 37. Or was it 38? Did he lose a day? It might’ve fallen out of his head, it was pretty busy there recently…
The counter took up the whole wall to the right of the door. The cupbearer. Where did he get all of this from? Why did he know precisely where to put the next part? Why was his mind prevailing as a minefield even when he’d run around in it multiple times before? What else was he yet to trigger?
He got used to the noise after a few days. Relatively fast. There was some comfort to waking up and not feeling the overwhelming emptiness right away. He felt bad for Epsilon, he thought. He wasn’t sure, he could never be sure. He was sure of one thing and that is he had one more to do. One more image.
The day after that was violent.
“Let GO of me!! Get your hands OFF!!!” Yet another voice Midorikawa recognized. He knew him by a different name, but he was going by Burn now which seemed fitting. He was the one to be mad about how their parents treated them before Sun Garden. He was almost as mad now.
“If you resist it will only be more painful.” That was one of the guards. “And half of your team is already in pain.”
The half was brought to the Hotel a few days prior, but they were immediately taken to a different part of the building. Midorikawa heard some other people being moved from this part to a different one that day too. Most of them were from Epsilon but members of his own team were there too. After that, the empty felt even more… empty, for a lack of better word.
He was left in the corridor. He wondered if they had just forgotten about him again. They did that sometimes with food.
They abandoned him again.
He knew Saginuma or Desarm, or however he chose to call himself now, was still there. In his corridor. Midorikawa knew that after the renovations he made to make space, if he shouted loud enough he could reach him. Maybe?
He forgot what the corridors looked like out there…
“I’ll let you go for now, so play nice or play dead, not like they pay us enough to worry about one kid going missing.” Midorikawa heard the jingling of keys right under his door.
“GAZEL, NOW!!”
“WHAT ARE YOU-”
A flash outside. So bright it seeped under the door. The temperature drop came simultaneously with the light and the noise.
Struggle. Somebody got thrown at Midorikawa’s door. He fell to the floor, safely tucked into a corner so just if they broke it he’d be safe. Sort of.
“Burn, WATCH OUT-”
More crashing. Noise. Worse than the noises from Epsilon kids.
Prominence and Diamond Dust sure knew how to make an entrance.
“SUZUNO, NO! DON’T YOU FUCKING TOUCH HIM!!!”
Flames. There were flames in the corridor. Fire, flame, warmth, heat-
The metal door stood. Barely. But it stood. It looked hot to the touch so Midorikawa got closer. He didn’t have a blanket in the room to warm up after the sudden drop so some heat was a welcomed friend.
Then with a buzzing noise, it all fell silent for a second. Then the Guard from the beginning said “Take the other one to the east wing. We can’t risk them hearing each other, we don’t know how much these guys are actually worth.” and that’s how the day fell to night.
Midorikawa knew that Nagumo was locked in the room next to him. They were separated by a wall. The one with the newest picture.
He didn’t try to get close.
He avoided that side of the room as much as he could.
He was scared that if he got too close he'd get burned.
'Cause like constellations a million years away
Midorikawa couldn’t sleep that night. He got the worst amount of memories so far. All of them. Their faces were now connected to their names connected to their characters. Their characters - connected to years upon years of pain. Constant pain.
He didn’t want to feel the dread he felt when he remembered them now.
He didn’t want to be scared for his life remembering they were in the same building as him.
He just wanted to be able to call them home again.
Every good intention, every good intention
Is interpolation, a line we drew in the array
The crashing of doors woke him up. He was disoriented, what was even going on?
He looked at his final counter on the biggest wall for some information - the day, the day that was before.
His door opened. He bolted to the corner, pushing his back as much against the wall as he could.
It was an older man in a trenchcoat with a beard. He looked angry and sad and tense, but he had kind eyes.
Midorikawa could trust kind eyes.
“You’re alright now, we’ve destroyed the meteorite and the guy is going to be in our custody as soon as we get you all out of here.” He said, his voice rasp. Natural or a smoker? He didn’t smell of nicotine…
Midorikawa took a few shaky steps and leaned out at the corridor. He squinted his eyes, it was much brighter than in his room.
The corridors were thin and there weren’t a lot of doors. As soon as the old man moved on to the other doors with a crowbar to open them, Midorikawa ran.
He saw a flash of red hair. That’s why he ran.
He ran after him to see if he was real.
Clinging to the faces, clinging to the shapes in the silence
He was running after a voice. It kept calling a known name.
“SUZUNO!!!”
Midorikawa hadn’t seen him yet. But he was close behind.
The cold voice Midorikawa heard before rasped something from somewhere and the speed of footsteps increased.
Midorikawa turned the corner and he was in another part of the Hotel. The wall said “East Wing”.
It was a little bit of an open clearing. The floor was covered in carpets.
In the middle of it all were two boys, on their knees as if they just fell, clinging to each other like the world was ending. Their clothes were loose after the diet in this place, the palms of their hands griping at the fabric as if the other was about to fly away.
The rest of the world didn’t exist for them. It didn’t need to when they had one another.
They were hugging, 2 hearts beating as one, their heads fitting perfectly over their shoulders.
“I thought they…”
“I’m here, I’m here,”
“... they came and threatened you and I…”
“I’m here, I’m real, I’m right here”
“I never want to lose you like that again”
“You won’t, I won’t let them”
Suzuno extended his arms a little so he could look into Nagumo’s puffy eyes with his own glassy ones. And then he brought their faces together for a kiss, a promise to never let go. Nagumo looked startled but joined in it and when they pulled apart, they just sat there, crying, holding their faces, touching their foreheads for support.
Midorikawa left. He felt like he violated something sacred. But somewhere deep, something told him he would keep what he saw. “For later”.
He ran again.
He ran with the noise.
He ran towards where the rest had to be.
He ran towards the sun.
Like constellations imploding in the night
Everything is turning, everything is turning
They were free.
All of them.
Back at Sun Garden.
Back at home.
But Midorikawa didn’t feel safe there anymore. Not just now anyway, after all that’s happened.
So he came back. He kept coming back.
He didn’t want to so he didn’t tell anyone.
But he didn’t know any other room of his own.
And he needed to finish his work.
And the shapes that you drew may change beneath a different light
And everything you thought you knew will fall apart, but you'll be all right
19 stars. Perseus. The hero.
Yagami Reina.
13 stars. Aquarius. Cupbearer of the gods.
Suzuno Fuusuke.
10 stars. Aquila. Eagle thunder-bringer.
Nagumo Haruya.
4 stars. Corvus. The crow.
Saginuma Osamu.
7 stars. Ursa Major. The big bear.
…Him…
Hiroto.
Kiyama Hiroto.
Midorikawa Ryuuji sat on the floor he knew oh, so well. They were all there. They were always there. He knew they were and would be even if he didn’t let himself recognize their faces.
He wasn’t crying, he was just sitting with tears streaming down his cheeks.
He couldn’t see around him.
He was drowned by the silence.
He didn’t hear the door or the footsteps.
He felt support, light pressure applied all around him.
“Sorry.” filled the void the silence masked all this time.
They were still there. And they were more than scratches on concrete.
His home was there and he knew, deep inside he always knew, that they would never let anyone abandon him again.

Me, at some point probably: see they use the phase, babble on, you see, to point out society's need to talk about and enforce our own ideas and worldviews, but it's also a play on words for the word, Babylon, you know the old testament story about a society that was split up and broken apart by language differences, so it's a two part phrase that both critiques our need to always be the loudest and the most correct person in the room, and predicts how our inability to listen to each other will only further drive everyone apart, an idea that is only further expounded on in their later albums, because...
My best friend, probably: cool *thumbs up*

I’VE FALLEN DOWN THE RABIT HOLE OF DANNY PHANTOM AND NOW I CAN’T ESCAPE
Once the Justice League was losing. It was the end of the world. No seriously, the world was an hour away from being blown to bits.
-
Constantine sighed and rubbed his face, he had just ran out of cigarettes and it was making him more jumpy than was truely necessary in any given situation. Him and most of the bigger heros in the Justice League sat in a cave and were forced to wait out the apocalypse, well, the hour left of it anyways.
Constantine sighed and looked up to what you could see of the sky from inside their cave, he was almost… afraid. Afraid of what was going to happen, afraid that it had come to this, afraid that the rumours were true or even worse than they seemed, Pariah Dark was not known for caring nor his mercy.
Honestly Constantine was going to consider it lucky if he died and got to rest in peace, even more lucky if the world actually got saved! This was a last ditch effort.
Constantine grabbed a piece of chalk from his pocket, it was worn from years of carrying it around. He settled it on the flattest piece of stone he could find and started drawing the circle he had memorised. “John what are you doing?” Wonder Woman asked, he ignored her and took a deep breathe
“Oh dark king of the ghosts.” he prayed, there were truely only a few necessary words but Constantine felt like he needed to add a message, so he kept speaking as he drew the intricate patterns of the circle “My world may be of no importance to you, but I am willing to make a deal to save it. Please accept my summon, please be merciful, please save earth, please K I N G O F T H E G H O S T S.” Constantine begged, Wonder Woman and most of the others sat up or got more defensive, it truely said something that Batman didn’t bother.
-
Danny Phantom sat playing DOOM with Sam and Tucker, cheering when we got to a higher level. Suddenly something tugged at his core and a voice whispered through his ears
…oh dark king of the ghosts. My world may be of no importance to you, but I am willing to make a deal to save it. Please accept my summon, please be merciful, please save earth, please…
“-anny? Danny?” Sam asked “Hello?” she said in a sing song voice
“Still with us Danny?” Tucker asked, Danny swallowed,
“I- I’ve got to go.” he said
-
Constantine sat on his knees in front of the circle and… nothing happened, Superman glanced at him and started to sit back down when suddenly the stone inside the circle fell away into a green spiral.
Superman gasped and jumped back up
“Don’t attack him, bow.” Constantine instructed, reluctantly Superman and everyone else did, except for Batman of course, what’d you expect? Him to change? Just because the world was ending?
A pale hand reached up from the circle and grabbed the edge; whoever was in the circle pulled themself up slowly and as they came closer to the mortal realm Superman got a sense of dread, of death, of… something else, of authority, and everyone in the room seemed to find themselves bowing lower. Superman couldn’t help but think, had Constantine double-doomed the world?
-
Constantine looked up as the figure hovered above the circle, he was the first to move from his bow. This… wasn’t what Constantine expected Pariah Dark to look like, he was still imposing but didn’t fit the ghost kings reputation.
He had a cape as dark as the shadows with glowing constellations and stories sown into the fabric. He had a crown that burned with green fire and floated above his head, his eyes glowed the same green as the crown and his hand had a single ring. He wore royal looking clothes, white boots and gloves with a black shirt and pants.
This was the ghost king “Pariah Dark, King of Ghosts. I am Constantine-”
“Pariah Dark? I dethroned him years ago! I’m Danny Phantom.” the ghost king introduced.
“I meant no disrespect your highness.” Constantine quickly said
“I don’t- never mind. You asked for me to save earth?” King Phantom asked, Constantine gulped
“Y-yes, we can’t win, please, I- I’ll do anything.” he begged,
“A favour.” King Phantom said
“What?” Constantine asked
“A favour, I’ll save your world for a favour from you and your friends.” King Phantom said.
A favour to a ghost king who was probably very evil, that is so stupid and such a horrible idea, who in their right mind would-
“Deal.” Constantine agreed.
There was a flash of bright light and King Phantom disappeared, after a few seconds of him being gone the sounds of a battle echoed through the cave.
“Constantine what did you just rope us into?” Batman asked. Constantine really, really needed a cigarette.
-
Years ago, the world was ending. In a last ditch effort Constantine summoned… something. Superman didn’t know much about the ghost king that had appeared, just that he was powerful, and that the better half of the Justice League owed him a favour. It had been on everyone’s minds for a few months after that deal, waiting for the day they would be called for something horrific and hoping it wouldn’t ruin them or their morals. But truthfully, after a few years everyone sorta forgot about it; it was the type of thing no one remembered unless the subject at hand related to it, and even then you were uneasy for a day and forgot all over again.
So when a scroll appeared in a flash of green light during a meeting one day, Superman would like to say that the freaking out was justified.
Batman (who seemed to adopt everyone he met in one way or another) shushed the group of panicking superhero’s and picked up the scroll “I am calling in your favour, when you finish reading this you will all be teleported to my aid. Signed, Phantom.” Batman read. Oh no.
In another flash of green light they appeared in a park with a few heros who hadn’t even been in the room. Everyone immediately put up their defences and raised various weapons, then they realised the park was empty. Superman looked around using X-ray vision, he had no clue what was going on in the seemingly peaceful that could make a ghost king ask for help, then he looked through a hill and saw a giant green dog running with two kids gripping it’s lead.
As the dog jumped on top of then off the hill and ran in front of them Superman could make out the words in their screams
“Sit boy, sit!” the Batman looking one called
“I’M TOO YOUNG TO DIE! NO OFFENCE DANNNYYYY!!!” the one with devices falling out of his bag and pockets yelled.
Everyone lowered their weapons and Flash relaxed and scoffed
“This is what that ghost guy called us in for? This is going to be a breeze!” Flash said happily
“Don’t judge a book by its cover Flash.” Constantine warned. Superman was about to agree with flash when the ghost king suddenly appeared in the air in front of us, dripping in something green which looked alarmingly like blood- oh god the ghost king was dying!? Re-dying?!
“Forget I said anything,” Flash raised his hands in the air and got ignored as we rushed over to the ghost king who had fallen out of the air and onto the ground.
Before anyone could do anything though another person appeared out of thin air and then floated down
“Join me Daniel! Together we could rule the world!” he asked, okay that was an evil guy if Superman had ever seen one, he even had the looks to go with it, you could mistake him as Dracula … was that Dracula?
Suddenly another guy who looked like the ghost king body slammed Dracula from the air
“I WILL RULE THE WORLD AND ME ALONE!” as he stood up Superman noticed he looked just like the ghost king only older and more evil looking. As if the mention of look-a-likes summoned her, a small girl who also looked just like the ghost king only younger and female body slammed evil twin number 1.
“Not on my watch you fruitloop!” she yelled. Suddenly a woman in a track suit with ridiculous looking googles and carrying an oversized gun jumped down
“Get away you evil ghosts!” she yelled and fired some energy weapon at the small group, they all scattered and the four of them fought when some girl on a hover board swooped in and pointed her hand at the ghost king
“Danny Phantom! You and all of ghost kind will pay!!” she yelled, something on her wrist started glowing when
“GET AWAY FROM DANNY!” a school girl yelled. Her orange hair swung around as she discus threw her books and bag right into the girls face. They also ran off into the distance to fight.
“What?” Flash asked,
“When he said.” Green Lantern agreed.
“The Dracula looking one is Vlad, he’s a bad guy, so is my evil self from an alternate timeline, we call him Dan, Dani is the small girl who looks like me, that’s because she’s my clone, she’s on the good side but she might steal your stuff just because she can so be careful,” he took a wheezy breath “My sister Jazz is the one who hurled her books into the air to protect me, she’s good. The girl in the red suit is Red Huntress, she’s good she just doesn’t understand -same with my parents, the couple in the jumpsuits, their ghost hunters.” the ghost king explained
“Wait, your parents are ghost hunters?” Flash asked
“Yeah?” the ghost king asked- oh I see.
“But you’re a ghost?” Flash said
“I’m technically a halfa actually, but trust me I know. It’s all ‘we’re going to tear apart the ghost boy molecule by molecule’ and never ‘is the ghost boy good or bad’.” the ghost king groaned, I reached out to help “I’ll be fine go fight or help!” he said

everything i loved about "the little mermaid" live action
Ariel's melody being her siren song!! that little new bit of lore!! i also really liked that it added more depth as to why Ursula wanted her voice in exchange for her becoming human
the way Ariel became almost angry during the bridge of "Part of Your World", she was so frustrated that she couldn't do the things she was dreaming about, like YES let her be mad!!
full body chills during "Part of Your World" + the first reprise
Ariel helping Max onto the boat 😭😭😭
I've mentioned this before, but Ariel hearing Eric's voice before seeing him!!! hearing him sing before seeing him!!! agh!!!!
Eric holding Ariel's hand on the shore after she rescues him 😭
the detail put into each of Ariel's sisters was so stunning, i'm so excited to read more about them in the books! i loved that they each had their own specific vibe
THEY INCLUDED THE FACT THAT URSULA AND TRITON ARE SIBLINGS YES THANK YOU VERY MUCH
"For the First Time" being a voice over, as Ariel's thoughts, and then the scene shifting to complete darkness except for her to represent us being in her head and hearing her thoughts, and the way it gets cut off when she realizes she can't say "hello" to Eric? i cried
The Jodi Benson cameo and her giving Halle!Ariel the fork 😭 literally her passing on the mantel of Ariel 😭😭
Eric and Ariel being total nerds with each other??
The way Ariel "told" Eric her name using the constellations???? and him saying it was written in the stars???? hello????
Also Eric saying "my little mermaid" made me so soft wtf
Eric and Ariel running around and giggling in the castle and being the definition of puppy love like they're so goofy and in love i adore them
the "Part of Your World" reprise after Ariel sees Eric with Vanessa shattered my heart, the MOST heartbreaking song
Grimsby kicking the ring away after it falls near him, my man knew exactly what was going on, he's known Ariel for three days and is already a ride or die
just Ariel and Eric holding each other so tightly after she gets her voice back, and Eric refusing to let her go until Ursula literally has to throw him away
ARIEL BEING THE ONE TO KILL URSULA USING THE SKILLS SHE SAW ERIC USE OH MY GOD IT WORKED SO SO WELL
i like that they added a chunk of time passing between Ursula's death and Eric and Ariel reuniting, it added a little extra drama and emotion when they finally saw each other again!
listen i'm an absolute sucker for a "hug before kiss" reunion and i was SO happy that Eric and Ariel had that, it fit them and their relationship perfectly, the way Eric just clung to her, and Ariel's happy smile as she hugged him back 😭
The mermaid statue and the dress representing the land vs. the sea???? and both returning back to where they're supposed to be but having new meanings????
Ariel's wedding dress being pink to (probably) pay homage to her pink ballgown in the animated movie was such a good touch, and i loved the length!!
Triton and Ariel's goodbye, where he says "you shouldn't have had to give up your voice for me to hear you"???? hello my father issues jumped tf out and had me sobbing in the theater
literally the entire movie was so beautiful, i could talk about it for hours, this is the best live action remake honestly, and Eric and Ariel (specifically the live action version obvi) have moved up to become my favorite Disney Princess/Prince pairing, just behind Belle and Adam (bc let's be honest, nothing can top them)
@queen-with-the-quill bc i know you're seeing it soon! more things i forgot to tell you lol

hi, i wonder if you have recs for fanfics written after the release of season 2 which are set in the time between s1 and s2? thank youu
Hello. Here are some fics set between series one and series two...
To the World by mehrto, SkysongMA (G)
"Really, Crowley, it's bad enough having everything replaced without you moving things. Don't tell me you're still tired after that nap you took." "After the events of the last eleven years, I believe I will be tired for the rest of the century." Crowley's voice turned uninterested, but he shifted his weight in the chair in a way that had nothing to do with the angle of the sun and everything to do with the topic. Aziraphale studied him. Crowley was still relaxed, ready, as ever, to slip into a nap wherever he was, but something was off, exactly like the arrangement of the bookstore. It was no fun to complain if Crowley wasn't immediately rushing to fix everything, even as he pretended he wasn't. Aziraphale drummed his fingers on the box, then clucked. "Well, if you're still tired, let me freshen up the spare bedroom. I ought to see if anything's changed there anyway."
Conversation on a park bench by CatelynStark956 (G)
Aziraphale is sitting in the park, reading and watching all the humans that pass by. Crowley suddenly joins him, furthering his musings on this and that until they’re interrupted by a gentleman who seems to have got the wrong impression
i come home, she lifted up her wings by junoshusband (G)
Oh, he could remember. Before everything, when angels groomed each other's wings in Heaven. Even after Heaven and Hell split into different factions and started their bickering, some of them would bask in the Earth's young sun as it fell between Eden’s verdant leaves and preen. But Gabriel usually chased them off, telling them they had work to do and that they didn't have eternity anymore. Whilst writing his account of the Apocalypse That Wasn't, Aziraphale broke his quill and then broke down. Crowley offers a feather and some comfort. Or, the story of how Aziraphale got the black feather seen in the Good Omens: Lockdown video.
Under the Stars by rockinellie (G)
Crowley sets up a stargazing picnic for Aziraphale, and they spend an evening enjoying one another’s company.
sense my heartbeat chase your constellations; burn but never fade away by Shaleschnueffler (T)
“Why don’t you drive us somewhere?” Crowley could not help his lips from parting and his brows from rising in heartfelt bafflement. Aziraphale- actively asking to endure Crowley’s driving that he despised so fervently? Intrigued, he jolted into motion, turning his entire body to face Aziraphale fully now. “...really? Like where?" Only upon saying these words out loud did Crowley realise that he’d already swung his legs around and placed his feet on the ground. Following this, there really was no use in letting Aziraphale answer his question. Crowley was going to go along with it, with anything, either way at this point. Less than a minute later, they were speeding past dangerously yellow lights with an unreasonably high number on the clock. or: Having successfully averted the end of the world, one night, Crowley proposes they do something nice. Aziraphale has a suggestion. Crowley rolls with it. They talk, and drive, and sip wine under the star-covered night sky, getting lost in their own world.
In The Next Room by maidenimage (M)
Crowley doesn’t know it yet, but this is going to be the first, last, and only night he spends in the bookshop.
In which Crowley and Aziraphale get drunk, play poker, and then everything changes. Or: Why TF is Aziraphale giving Gabriel his spare room while he let Crowley live in his car for years? Oh, this is why.
Set in canon between season 1 and season 2. Title lifted from a Neon Trees song of the same title.

In honor of my atrocious spotify wrapped i went and checked lovejoy to see whats changed other than my opinion and:
• in WU&IO, literally only portrait of a blank slate and call me when you like are good. That part at the end of Warsaw where the fella is like "it doesnt get any better" is good i like that but thats it and the rest was infinitely overhyped.
• Consequences fucking sucks idk what we were thinking
• One Day is still holding the number one spot for top lovejoy songs(unsurprisingly and deservedly), seeing as it is still a banger and was one of my greatest sacrifices, along with Perfume and The Fall(i love you and i miss you... muah)
• the new song is out. I already forgot what its called something to do woth sobriety and ill be honest its so mid. No KSI Thick of It and No JSchlatt Christmas Album, it sits rather uncomfortably in between. Like i wish i could think of another thing to say other than it invoked no emotions in me and i even tried to like it but i couldnt.
• they have EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND LISTENERS. tbf in the golden age it was well above 10mil im sure but also 800k is far too many people they are sooo mid. Go listen to Pact guys they have 2 monthly listeners and theyre married. Go listen to James Marriott he used to be buds with lvjy(cant be bothered) but now he doesnt like them(YIPPEE 🥰🥰🥳🥳🥳) AND HE MAKES BANGER MUSIC!!!!!! LISTEN TO DENIAL BY JAMES MARRIOTT!!!!!! DONT BLAME ME!!!!!!!!!! THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!!! GOING POSTAL AT THE PARTY, GRAPES, FUCKING CAR LIGHTS GO!!!!!
• so, i love you, artists to listen to other than lvjy if you still do
James Marriott, Pact, The Crane Wives, Clem Turner, 'You Can't Win, Charlie Brown', Sammy Copley, The Amazing Devil, The Oh Hellos(ik stupid you probably already know these guys but DO YOU KNOW CONSTELLATIONS. ITS GOOD. LISTEN TO IT), Florist, CAIO, honest to god go listen to anything and youre off the hook big dog you got this

Time to be long-winded about music again featuring the Four Winds albums by the Oh Hellos. I desperately hope this one will be shorter given how bloody long the thing about Coyote Stories ended up being so to somewhat ensure that this will be split up into four separate posts, one for each album. I’m going in chronological order of release. Come one, come all, but especially @writer-of-random-things, to see me put more effort into tumblr posts than my english essays.
Part 1: Notos (you are here!)
Part 2: Eurus
Part 3: Boreas
Part 4: Zephyrus
Before even getting into the songs, let’s look at the album art. A cicada, the hallmark of summer, buzzing in chorus for a few days before dying. They are a horde, second only to their cousins the bees, wasps, and locusts, but a horde nonetheless. The cicada blindly sits underground for most of its life, growing in solitude and waiting for its cue to escape to the sunlit world, mate, and die. A cicada does not question it’s place in the universe. A cicada harbors no thoughts of doubt in its mission, and holds no grudge when it dies under the sky. But humans are not cicadas.
The first song of the album is “On the Mountain Tall”, a relatively quiet start. It’s very biblical in its symbolism and imagery, but perhaps the most important lines are when the singer calls out, “Still the wild wind blows / Up our of the grave of an angry ghost / Firing bricks from broken canon and prose / To build a wall so high it reaches the heavens in the sky”. The spelling of “canon” is not that of the instrument of warfare on the high seas, but that of generally accepted truth when it comes to creative works, as well as religions. But it is used to describe an action much more befitting the weapon, as the “wild wind” is “Firing bricks from broken canon and prose”, a metaphor for using hypocritical or untrue logic and facts to defend itself. Whomever the singer is singing to, they want the singer to fear them and love them in equal measure, but the singer doesn’t. This nebulous thing is described as being “Quiet as a candle and bright as the / morning sun”, not unlike some angelic thing from on high, and yet whoever they are, they are not “He”, who is “not within them, the clatter of / brass and drums”.
“Torches” soon follows, a quicker paced tune of a back-and-forth between two singers. Each alludes to the other, “Father Ignorance” and “Mother Fortuna”, matching up with the leading male and female vocals. Both figures are referred to by the others as making either “Brothers of us all” or “Sisters of us all” through their actions, though neither seem to be very virtuous people. “Father Ignorance” seems to feed people’s anger and fear, setting “our torch aflame” and burning someone at the stake, no matter their innocence. “Mother Fortuna” turns “shadows into shapes”, stoking paranoia and encouraging violence despite the fact that “the faces in her wake / Look more like our own than the / effigies we immolate”. Neither singer seems to be the one from “On the Mountain Tall”, as the previous song was about someone resisting the carrots and sticks offered by someone quite similar to both Ignorance and Fortuna. And yet these two beings still have power, as they sing together, “We keep that old wheel turning / Over and over, again”, maintaining the endless cycle of fear, paranoia, anger, and destruction.
The next song is an instrumental interlude, “Planetarium Stickers on a Bedroom Ceiling”. It’s a gentle tune that slowly builds into the next song, “Constellations”, but the name alone indicates that whatever stars exist far above are not real things, but rather facsimiles. Pretty things, sure, but nothing like the real, burning, blazing balls of gas that dot the night sky.
“Constellations” begins slowly, as the singer describes the sensation of speaking something that takes their voice away and feels upon their tongue like “Brick and mortar, thick as scripture / Drawing lines in the sand and laying / borders as tall as towers / I babble on until my voice is gone”. The clear and more cloudy references to the Tower of Babel and the Empire of Babylon show how the singer has been confounded and confused by that thick and choking scripture. Everything good in their life, everything good done by them and to them are “like constellations, a million years away”, no more real than those “Planetarium Stickers on a Bedroom Ceiling”. What few pieces of joy they have are no more real than the lines drawn to create “Constellations”. But by the end of the song, those good stars are “imploding in the night / Everything is turning, everything is turning / The shapes that you drew may change beneath a different light / Everything you thought you knew / Will fall apart, but you’ll be alright”. The singer has realized how much they have been smothered by thick scripture, how little they know about the world, how much they want to be free, and how they have been denied their freedom by the world they grew up with, by Father Ignorance and Mother Fortuna.
The titular “Notos” is next, starting with the singer describing the world in the moments before the clouds break and a storm crashes down. The world is holding its breath, waiting for “A thunderous disturbance”, the inevitable response to what the singer has done to those “Planetarium Stickers on a Bedroom Ceiling”. But whatever the world is expecting is not what happens, as the rush that comes “will take you away / Like you’re caught in the undertow / And you will drown in the wake / Of the things you lost to the winds of Notos”. Everything the singer has lost to the thick scripture, all that the spent in hopes that the “Constellations” of good intentions would become real, is now being repaid tenfold over. Their realization is as strong as a hurricane, as untamable as the sea, and more furious than a thunderstorm in this moment. They’re drowning Fortuna and Ignorance in “the wake / Of the things you said that you can’t take back”. It’s a beautifully poetic description of the pure, flaming anger felt by someone in the moment they realized their betrayal, but as the final line of the song says, “You gotta let go”.
The second instrumental interlude of the album is “Mandatory Evac / Counting Cars”. Finishing the wordless cry that began in “Notos”, the song is a slow, gradual build up from gentle guitar strums to the beautiful melody that has haunted the background of the rest of the album, a promising echo that reminds the listener that they’ve come quite far since the beginning of this 20-minute journey, and that they’ve still got plenty of road left to travel.
The final song of Notos is “New River”. The singer’s tune is one of gradual change, of how “though the eons may pass as slow as the sands of an hour glass / Every grain that we’ve counted / Claims that even the mountains can change”. This promise that even the most permanent parts of the landscape can slowly but surely change, that the very land itself can bend to the power of a “New River”, is a powerful metaphor for the prospective journey of the singer. They yearn to carve out a new path, to rise with the tide and bask in the “rain for forty days and nights”, to embrace the change so abhorred by the “Planetarium Stickers on a Bedroom Ceiling”, to erode away where they had once stood “On the Mountain Tall”, to extinguish the “Torches” and prove the “Constellations” to be naught but lines drawn in the sky. Within this wind of “Notos” will they rise and remake themselves anew, casting off the thick scripture and ignoring the roaring fire and wind. The fiery Southern Wind of Summer has risen and raged, tearing apart the walls of “broken canon and prose”, and as stormy Notos leaves, Eurus of Autumn and the Eastern Wind will blow in from the horizon where the sun rises, bringing cooler times and heralding yet more change as migrations begin and more questions are asked.

Song Game
I was tagged by @renninflight
Rules: Put your repeat playlist on shuffle (I'm using my Spotify repeat playlist) and list the first ten songs, then tag that many people.
This is gonna be interesting.
Sunlight by Hozier
Inkpot Gods by The Amazing Devil
Whoreson Prison Blues by Joseph Trapanese and Joey Batey
Oak & Ash & Thorn by The Longest Johns
I Am The Doctor by Murray Gold
Constellations by The Oh Hellos
Misty Mountains by Richard Armitage and the Dwarf Cast
For the Dancing and the Dreaming by Erutan
Here's a Health to the Company by The Longest Johns
Teir Abhaile Riu by Celtic Woman
Well, I can't say that isn't accurate, although I'm surprised there weren't more instrumental songs. I've been doing a lot of writing lately, and that's what I tend to listen to. Honestly, this is more just the music I listened to in the airport on Wednesday than anything representative of say...the last two weeks. Idk how the algorithm works. Anyway, tags under the cut.
Tags for anyone who wants to! @and-claudia @ahahahayk @marlinspirkhall @lyriumlullaby-ao3 @seagull-energy @asoftunkindness @wheresmybloodynauglamir @nonbinaryvulcan @dearspockart @trivalentlinks

Stop trying to keep us alive You're pointing at stars in the sky that already died Stop trying to keep us alive You can't force the stars to align when they've already died Oh, we've died
“But we were supposed to be together! You said it yourself!” He yelled, his tone accusing you of the promises you failed to keep.
“And I know you don’t lie.” He closed the gap between you two, exhaling the words desperately. He held your face in his warm, large hands, which you could only weep into.
“I know,” He whispered, eyes boring into you, searching for answers. “I know you wouldn’t lie to me.” His cracked voice felt like a sharp blade that pierced into your heart. His welling eyes wrenched it in further, cautioning you to break.
“Please don’t do this.” You sobbed, words coming out as gasps of breath, despondent beside the furious crashes of waves behind you.
“Don’t make this harder.” You shivered under his touch, on the edge of collapse.
“I love you. Please, I love you.” He begged, pulling you into his arms. He caged you inside his embrace, and as much as you couldn’t, you wanted to stay there.
You wanted to stay here and keep all the promises you made him. You wanted to love him, just as you did that night you taught him how to read constellations, and when you told him the stars were aligned for the both of you. You wanted so much more. As much as he did.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered into his ear, your arms fighting to not hug him back.
“I’m sorry I lied.” He seemed to only hold you tighter.
“Please, don’t go.” He sobbed.
“I have to darling, I have to.” You could only wish he understood what you meant. That this wasn’t your choice. That if you could, you would fight for more. For more time, for more moments, for more touches, kisses, and gifts.
For more with him.
“Please forgive me.” You fell into his embrace and finally wrapped your arms around him. One last time. Just one more minute of this rich love that you felt seep into your bones. Just one more minute of this scent that you didn’t ever want to forget. Just sixty more seconds of being so close to him, and knowing that he felt you too.
Please, I don’t want to go.
“You have to wait for me. Say you’ll wait for me.” He whimpered, his hold still strong around you.
“I’ll be the first you see. I promise.”
“You promise?” He pulled away, tear-streaked cheeks, shining under the moonlight.
“I promise.” You kissed his cheek gently before you pulled your arms away. Slowly, hoping he wouldn’t notice.
“I’ll be with you. Always.” You whispered one more time and took your steps backward. You didn’t want to turn away from him. You wanted to see him until you faded away forever. You wanted to imprint the image of him waiting by the beach forever in your mind, his beautiful face memorized, memories stored with you.
They say ‘till death do us part’ but with him, it was different.
With him, you would want infinity.
a/n: hello!! i hope you enjoyed this! i am trying to get back into the writing groove and this is what i have come up with after listening to sad songs hehe. i’ll see you soon!

omg YES JOIN US IN THE OH HELLOS INSANITY.
some of my personal favorites (excluding dear wormwood): hello my old heart, cold is the night, like the dawn, the lament of eustace scrubb, i have made mistakes, the truth is a cave, in memoriam, torches, constellations, new river, o sleeper, grow, hieroglyphs, rose, boreas, glowing, theseus, soap, rounds.
(but genuinely you should listen to their entire discography it’s all so good. particularly the anemoi albums (notos, eurus, boreas, and zephyrus) are best heard in order because the songs/instrumentals flow into each other)
I was literally just on Spotify thinking hmm I need some good new music for my book soundtrack AND THEN I REMEMBERED THIS ASK so time to yeet some of these in the queue and hopefully come back with thoughts shortly. I do get VERY in the zone whilst writing, so here's hoping

SBI SCP AU character playlists
Tommy:
Rose by The Oh Hellos (I mean I'm doing an entire animatic wip, it fits and I have essays to prove it. Anyway violence, the power of names/narratives, truth, hypocrisy, how sacrifice and love tie together.)
Sunken City by David Wirsig (Tubbo associations, mostly symbolic/vibes past the prison break. The euphoria of escaping and how the world beyond is confusing and unrecognizable. The idea of journeying with a friend to the ruins of what was once your life. 6th verse as finding a new home in found family. 'God free me from the burden of my thoughts')
Never Love an Anchor by The Crane Wives (Tubbo, and how Tommy tries to distance himself to protect them/is the only reason Tubbo stays in a group with people they abhor. Touch starvation, hands as dangerous, seeing himself as a monster/burden. Again. Did an animatic for this one.)
Wilbur (yes they're all by Will Wood for the bit):
Misanthrapologist by Will Wood (Philza, for their light/dark dynamic and untangling of Wilbur's loathing of society and himself. WHiT Constellations interlude. I imagine 'can't keep a straight face while I'm praying' as Phil trying to get Wil to meditate but they end up laughing + 'don't you revolve around someone else' as a chide to Philza post Anderson's death)
Love Me, Normally (If he were honest with himself. Wilbur is wracked with jealousy for humanity that he disguises as hatred. Die young mentality, insomnia, bridge 2 addressed to the void, 'Is it courageous or escapist to leave the quarantine when you’re contagious?' as a comment on the danger of anomalies and if they should be contained)
BlackBoxWarrior (An entire life spent running from the Foundation and their experiments + trauma, repressing the past, general void madness, 'a map to every victim of his love' as the scars the void has left)
The Blade:
Red Water Dreams by Aviators (The sea motif of the voices, being a vessel for The Blood God, finding blame in those who unleashed his apocalyptic revenge. The entire chorus fits so well. 'Vicious thoughts are stirring/And I hunger for their power')
Paralyzed by Aviators (He's just an Aviators boy, what can I say, it's the violence and upbeat tempos man. Really this is The Blood God's song. His challengers as a duty to cull, as he's forced to hunt down every last foe that laid a hand upon his vessel. The thrill of battle, impending doom, 'I will give you one fair chance' because he really does seek a good fight. The Blade is the one paralyzed, unable to do anything but watch as his body is used for destruction)
Turn Out the Lights by The Crane Wives (Because The Blade does actually handle The Blood God/voices pretty well. I feel this song captures the way he just sorta rolls his eyes and shrugs off the intrusive thoughts most of the time)
Philza:
Rule #9 - Child of the Stars by Fish in a Birdcage (Wilbur as a wanderer, but works for any Collected for fostering their growth. Father vibes. Philza raising his children to be strong, independent people. A gentle expectation of greatness, because he picks out the exceptional among humanity)
Hot Tea by Half Alive (His sheer adoration of his Collected, also fun to swap the roles so that it is the god showing devotion. The pure warmth and sweetness matches Philza. In retrospect I need a song about protective violence but eh I set a 3 song limit.)
Time Machine by Miracle Musical (Amnestic arc. Particularly with loneliness and the vehemence in 'look at what you've done now to me', as well as 'I'm leaving today, today' with his confused insistence that he leaves at the end of the week. The way Philza is dragged in and out of grief at the whims of the Foundation, left free floating and disorientated)
Tubbo:
Soap by The Oh Hellos (Actual perfect Tubbo song. WHiT Croplands interlude. Themes of pacifism, how Tubbo is made of pieces, the separation between humans and anomalies and how the Hivemind can cross that barrier. Learning when to let go/hold on with the Tommy, Hive members, Willow. The 2nd chorus as Rhodes trying to convince Tubbo to leave Tommy in Jasper, with the response of 'I think that you’re worth (keeping around/holding onto)' to both Rhodes and Tommy's Never Love an Anchor. And imagining Tubbo saying the last stanza to Tommy makes me so soft)
Escapism by Rebecca Sugar (Dissociation. Grey chapter in general, specifically Pewter for being firm in convictions: 'shouldn't show a trace of doubt' and telling Rosalind the sacrifice won't hurt them, as well as trying to force a dissociative episode when their hand is sawed off)
Saint Bernard by Lincoln (ok this is a troll but also fits well for Cinnabar and Old Gauze. The guilt of failing one's morals. Technically Tubbo is in Indiana satanic and chained up, but I'll let it slide. The Saint Calvin verse is so good for the Rhodes-Tommy tension + Foundation destroying families. Also the way Tubbo blames their self-loathing on Rosalind, making the chorus apt for the Hivemind mess) (but also its funny to give Tubbo the classic edgy character song)
(Bonus) Dr. Blake:
Take Me to War by The Crane Wives (She sees herself as forced to be ruthless to survive against powerful anomalies. 'And I'll rankle the beasts with words' for her manipulation. Also epithets in the dehumanizing way the Foundation avoids names. Verse 3 is Tubbo 'corrupting' the guards when they saved humans from Philza)
Solaria, Kevin / End-World Normopathy by GHOST (Tommy, with religious themes and verse 5/Kevin understood as The Blood God. The cold cruelty of the Foundation, sentience as a failure/flaw in a tool (Tommy), Dr. Blake completely separating her personal and professional selves because to have humanity is only a weakness anomalies will exploit. 'Though you’ll never die, you’ve found that/All eyes are staring at your hands' is an absolutely perfect line for summoning sessions)

☄️, 🩹, 💥, 🔭!! for the emoji asks!
HELLO BELOVEDS YAY YAY!! :D ☄️ Do you have a favorite stuffed animal? !!!!! yes!!! :D his name is Ceru, short for Cerulean! he's a blue teddy bear, he's been with me for 12 years, but he's got the energy of a 27-year-old transmasc guy hgkjgk he's stoic with a heart of gold <3 he's old and his fur is matted by now, but he's still very comfortable to hug or to cradle like he's a baby lmao :3 <333
🩹 Have you had any injuries with a funny or amusing story behind them? oh lmao, okay, so one time my mom dropped me off at school. this was during 8th grade, which was a pretty terrible year for me, so i was trying to hype myself up for for the day. imagine everything is awesome tween dream remix or a similar sunshiney happy song is playing. Ready to take on the day and laying it on heavy with the "fake-it-til-you-make-it" optimism of a 13 year old, i leap up and out of the car like a cartoon protagonist :D!! ✨✨✨
...my head smacks directly into the roof of the car, and i immediately ragdoll to the sidewalk. my newly scraped knee bleeds profusely as i sit there, stunned. tween dream remix is still playing loudly, as the whimsy is too shocked by the turn of events to leave.
eventually i get up and mom hands me one (1) old dunkin donuts napkin to wipe off the blood, but she's got other kids to drop off at different schools so. uh. lmao. bye.
i hobble into the nurse's office, which is on the second floor of the school, y'know, to spite me. they're like "voli, what the fuck, why are you bleeding at 8 in the morning?" and im like ":) please help." (tween dream remix is like, distant and slightly distorted by now.) the wound needs like three bandaids and its still bleeding as i stumble into class lmao?? well anyway, don't got time for that, late for a math lesson hgkjgjk...
looking back its just like lmao???? why'd i do that kgjkjg should've just gotten out of the car like a normal person lmao??? ANYWAY thats how i got a scar on my knee </3
💥 If you had to battle the person asking this, what weapons would you both use? spacehead my dearests, may i challenge yall to a pokemon battle? :3 i am fully prepared to lose, but i think it would be fun hgkjgkj <33 <22
🔭 Do you have a favorite constellation? i have a particular fondness for both Pegasus and Ophiuchus, i relate them to old blorbos <3
asks here!!
