Alright. This needs to be my most popular post. So I’m reading Trials of Apollo rn for the first time, right after rereading Percy Jackson, and the Heroes of Olympus series, and though I haven’t gotten to the part where it says so, I’ve heard that Nico is 16 in it. And that doesn’t make any sense. By the end of Blood of Olympus, he’s 13. By Trials of the Labyrinth, he turned 11. Another January passes, and in The Last Olympian, he’s 12. He fights a war at 12. Then The Lost Hero happens in the winter, before Christmas break, right after the Titan War, and The Son of Neptune takes place a few months later, making Nico 13. If Trials of Apollo takes place the winter after that- which it does, it’s stated it’s January in the first book and Apollo’s been gone for only 6 months, that means that Nico is 14 at that point. Due to that series taking place over the course of a year, Nico is now 15. He is going to be 15 as he and his bf travel into Tartarus.

Now, when it comes to Hazel, she is 14 in The Heroes of Olympus series. We know this because she met Pluto on her 13th birthday and was in Alaska for 6 months. She’s might be 15 because we also know that she was at Camp Jupiter at the same time as Jason, but also she’s only been there for a few months, so it’s a little more up in the air. Percy, Annabeth and Frank are the only ones in the seven who are 16 during the entire Heroes of Olympus, and Jason turns 16 during the Mark of Athena. If we’re going to talk about Hazel calling Nico older in Blood of Olympus, it’s likely because age isn’t something they’ve really talked about, and after being through Hell, the Labyrinth, his mom and sister’s deaths, trying to remember his life before the River Lethe, he just looks a little older than he really is, and Hazel has a baby face that makes her look younger than she is. Hopefully, this is clarified by Rick at some point because right now I keep hearing people call Nico all different ages, but if you’re ever having trouble remembering his age— he’s 3 years younger than Percy, until August, when he’s 4 years younger. That helps, right?? Loooolll.
