idk why people get super pedantic about the movie logic in Home Alone and start and try to pick it apart, because like, its a Christmas movie about a child accidentally being left home alone, the premise isn't exactly asking us to suspend our disbelief that much, and yet nearly every single "gotcha" question I see people bring up about this film is literally answered within the first 15 minutes :/

People are severely misunderstanding the caitvi prison scene.
I’ve seen so many people complain about how it was sudden and weird, it was fan service, it was out of place etc. It wasn’t out of place nor the timing was off. If you ask me it literally couldn't be more perfectly placed. To start with the setting, in a prison mirroring the first moment they met. Cait indirectly tells vi she moved the guards out of the cells so vi could break jinx out and if they were to choose to leave, or just jinx herself, they literally could. Cait basically indirectly tells vi she would be willing to do this for her, taking the risks of what it could entail. She chooses to let her resentment of jinx go for vi, this is basically a testament of her love.
Vi had just said she chooses wrong all the time, that she lost everyone, let jinx slip through her fingers once again, and cait says this to her that sparks the hope inside vi that no, she didn't actually lose everyone. And that after all the times she chose wrong as she said, someone chose her this time. And vi kisses her for it.
They do it in a place that is an exact parallel to how they met but this time cait is behind the bars with her.
Anyway thanks for listening to my TED talk ig :D

The attraction towards forced feminisation by a large amount of prerealised trans women (known colloquially as "eggs") is a reflection and manifestation of the dominant narrative form of The Hero's Journey, in which the significant life-altering journey requiring great strength is at first compelled by an external agent tempting into the unknown, and must be met initially by Refusal of the Call.

I will duel anyone to the death that says AFTG was written badly. I’ve tried explaining the plot four different times not even minding for spoilers, just full run down of the story, and it’s physically impossible
How Nora did that And made it interesting And gave us fluff, comedy, loveable characters, complex personalities, And Perfect**** Neil Pov, I’ll never know. I’m starting to believe she’s inhuman
Idgaf that there aren’t metaphors or that I don’t need a thesaurus to read it. I can genuinely for hours every day of my life pull apart every part of this god damn book series and I’ll never be bored
This post was meant to be funny, idk how we got here. But it’s time we admit that yes, the self-published team-sport mafia romance book with simple language was yes, in fact, amazing and needs to be studied

sometimes i think about how batman (not always, but usually, and to my preference) calls the rogues by their name. surnames, mostly, but sometimes their first name. while others around him use their chosen names, their tabloid given names, the names they use when they're committing their crimes, the names that take away their humanity
and then i think about liz lochead's poem, revelation. about loss of innocence, childhood fears, facing the unknown (or the sort of known), the line about the giant, menacing bull that the child is afraid of:
"They called him Bob – as though perhaps you could reduce a monster with the charm of a friendly name."
and then i get sad, about batman reducing the monsters by using their names. does he do it because he knows they're not monsters? because he's trying to take the monstrosity out of them, for their sake? to remind them of who they are, beneath it all? or is it because of his own fears? a child, scared of the monsters? trying to reduce them to their humanity so they're not as monstrous too him?

we're at that time of year again where people start whining about how the Polar Express is "creepy" and "unsettling" as if that's not exactly what makes it the perfect Christmas movie.

People say Oscar is a cat, a quokka, a koala, but no. You’re all wrong. He is the capybara of the paddock, with equivalent status to the one it occupies in the animal reign. He is chill, unbothered, not necessarily outwardly friendly (he prefers to just sit there), but for some reason he has everyone wrapped around his dainty little finger.
The big bad caiman Max vibes with him, wouldn’t dare show his teeth because he’s great company. Princess mouse of the monégasque lands Charles offered adoption to ensure a bond through citizenship. The younger fluttery febrile birdy rookies flock to him for reassurance of entering a new environment, for a rock to anchor themselves on who’s also experienced this fire baptism recently. Lando with his catlike malice has bonded with him and sticks to his side for his listening ears and gentle directions.
Despite the chaotic friendships and hateships of the paddock, wether Oscar the capybara hangs out with George the deer or Max the caiman, at the end of the day he is just there to vibe which everyone respects and isn’t that beautiful.

I still think about how Leo’s ideal day out for the fam’s venture into the Hidden City was basically just an effort to get some rest and relaxation because boy does he never get that ever.

a huge point in orv is the relationship between parents and their children, creators and their creations, writers and their stories, and i think we need to talk about how just as a child's parents cannot dictate who they become, just as god cannot rob humans of free will, just as a writer cannot control how their story is experienced, yoo joonghyuk is no less real just because he was created
