Ryan saying I hear this footsteps now and immediately walking over to see if it’s really him, like my boy was worried about his emotional support skeptic. And Shane hugging Ryan?! I will never get over that. They were both worried and relived when it was finally over. ;-;

Yeah.... Ryan worrying about Shane so much he goes to see him and is surprised he comes from another angle and the relief he felt. "I feel a sort of calm confidence right now." (maybe because Shane was there and came back safetly, and Ryan being self sacrificial knows that if he dies it will be a good show but at least Shane is safe now.) Also the hug lives rent free in my head, the way they have this tension of "we didn't hear you at all" like, the way they look at each other before Ryan's solo, I think Shane searches for a way to kind of calm Ryan down but the jokes don't work really, so he just. Goes for a hug afterwards because what else is there. I said it once but I really think it's one of the more cinematic hugs where the characters are finding solace & comfort in each other's arms. Like you know in movies when people don't see each other for a long time and then find each other. I think it was kinda like that.

I really mean it though like, canon's permakitten system and the idea that Bright Stream is up there, forever taking care of fetus children who were filled by sudden knowledge and yet never grow past that point absolutely horrifies me. Jesus Christ. I don't know how anyone reads that final scene in Path of Stars and isn't filled with itching, white-hot existential dread, man.
