South Park AU

Hello, hello, I'm back again with a bit more infodumping. I'm honestly struggling with the proper name of this AU but let's get to that later! If you're here from the one half rambling post, well, you're in luck because I explain things better here so!

The idea is loosely inspired by TFBW but it's more of its own thing since I never got into the major AU's when I was into the series a while back. Now, as mentioned before - the idea itself is a bit more darker and angsty though here's how everything went down!

The kids are now older, and will be in high school for most of the AU, but the whole thing is... when they were about to enter their freshman year, a strange cosmic event hit South Park and well, it caused unexpected changes. As a bit of additional background, I always imagined the former elementary students were pretty much just roleplaying when they adopted their superhero personas which meant no real powers (except for Mysterion-); that is until something strikes the town and all of a sudden, they have powers beyond their imagination.

Reassuming their old identities, South Park is thrown into chaos and of course, not everyone knows the others are; none of them are truly open to harming each other, let alone kill. Not even Cartman, but of course, word travels outside of the town and things get a little... complicated.

I'm going to purposely leave that vague for now, but let's get to the fun bits... which means read below for more juicy tidbits!

How the Teams Formed

Everything is technically owed to Mysterion. He had donned the costume one night and well, his fame skyrocketed after he singlehandedly dealt with a gang attempting to cause trouble. Mysterion had never been one to work alone, though of course, this ultimately changed... and he founded the first team of superheroes. They have each other's backs for the most part, but due to Mysterion's sheer stubbornness, sometimes he handled crime on his own.

His actions went noticed by other former members of the original teams, and it led to smaller teams forming; on occasion, the teams found themselves capable of working together, but as one would expect - sometimes they bickered and made working together on missions a whole lot harder.

In a way, Mysterion was the reason they took on the role again but controlling their powers wasn't as easy as it seemed...

Names & Powers

Since South Park is South Park, I took it upon myself to alter things around with some of the names, and even when it came to powers so, I decided why not share my current thoughts and ideas. These aren't complete though! They will be updated eventually, I promise but that will likely be with a different post.

I'm going to start from Cartman because why not-

Raccoon Man: Instead of answering to his original name, Cartman- that is to say, a very normal vigilante now goes by Raccoon Man. His powers consist of enhanced sight (more so at night), claws (which I'll explain later!), as well as others. I know this has been done before, but I can see him being a literal raccoon hybrid. He has an excellent sense of hearing, and can fight in hand-to-hand combat, more specifically with punches.

Static Point: The former "Toolshed", now known as Static Point. Despite his original abilities, Static Point's powers manifested as control over lightning and having the ability to manipulate any tool. His design is still being developed, though I can imagine he has some form of gauntlets which allow him to charge the lightning a lot better. Yes I know the lightning comes from "Wonder Tweek" but shhh.

The Harpy: Better known as "Harpy" (and the former "Human Kite"), the Harpy's a member of Mysterion's team - much like Static Point - though his abilities a little more... different. As a result of the accident, Harpy became a mutant/hybrid of sorts; he has wings and a tail, resembling a sort of harpy-esque figure. There's a comic on TikTok which I love, but there's going to be differences from that. I think Harpy would have talons and he needs tufted ears or something. Because yes

Mysterion: Saving the best for last because yes. Mysterion's powers are rooted in two different things: for one thing, he has the ability to control shadows (something akin to Nico from Percy Jackson but a bit different-), and of course, his immortality. He does have other abilities, but they're more mundane (hand-to-hand combat, parkour)

The other characters are still being developed and since this is an AU, and the circumstances are a bit different, well, I'm trying to decide quite a bit! I'm going to make a separate post for the Mystechaos idea, so stay tuned for that!

Controversial opinion: I do think Gortash bathes, actually. Does he forget to shave? Yes. Put too much product in his hair? Sure. Abuse eyeliner? Obviously. But I don’t care how good his robots are he’s not the one who’s getting made the face of the Absolute hoax if he smells worse than Orin.
