Watching my first watch through of SPN ever. I’m on season 9 and as someone who has been on tumblr since ancient times but didn’t actually get in to it, I think everyone DOWNPLAYED how crazy Destiel is. How did veterans survive that….. It’s just. What. What am I watching. Why does Deans voice get SOFT when he talks to Cas particularly??? Why did Dean ditch Sam to watch Cas at the supermarket???? I think because of the meme I was convinced it was cas who was the one obviously in love but. No. It’s Dean. And it’s embarrassing for him. This is crazy but Destiel fans weren’t crazy y’all were on to something all this time…..

You know what’s so sad about the whole real person queerbait discourse?
bbno$ had an interview where he was asked if he’d ever have sex with a dude and he said “I don’t know”, and said he’s kissed his male friends and he’s felt attracted to men but he’s never felt like a proper urge to have sex with a man.
People of course called this queer baiting because of course they fucking did.
But there’s something he said in this interview. That he’s gotten more comfortable with his sexuality, and 10-15 years ago he wouldn’t be comfortable talking like this due to the stigma.
It is only due to new social progress that he’s able to give this answer. That he has the space to not just say he’s straight. I’ve always said that you could not make ‘I kissed a girl’ as a dude, because a guy who made a hit song about kissing guys with a girl waiting at home, he would be pegged as a gay cheater”. And this is the same I think, back then he definitely would have just called himself straight because it’s easier and because of internalized homophobia, and it’s only due to social progress that he’s open to the possibility.
You would think “I have felt really attracted to dudes but have never felt the immediate (read: immediate as opposed to eventual) sexual desire.” would be enough of a confirmation that this person is not strictly straight. Like not “Think they’re attractive” but “Attracted to”. But apparently this is him baiting.
The fact that people are mad that this man finally feels comfortable with his sexuality, and okay being honest about his situation because it means they can’t get a straight answer out of him as to whether or not to call him queer, that’s awful.
But sure i’m a Harry Styles dick rider for not calling him straight.

does anyone realize how crazy it is to have the actor of a mostly headcanoned queer ship say the fans were never crazy and they were right all along after 10+ years of everyone just absolutely going nuts over the said queerbaited ship

they put this shot in the first episode btw. genuinely insane behaviour. "how do we let them know they're queer?" "let them gaze lovingly at each other while standing like, very close. then pretend charles is straight. they will love that"

Genuine question here !
I'm seeing a bunch of recent content creators and artists making new adaptations or media inspired by Sherlock Holmes.
There's Fawx and Stallion ( @224bbaker ) , Watson's Sketchbook by @contact-guy, Fogtown (@fogtown-sleuth-society), The Beekeeper's Picnic game (@beekeeperspicnic) and the web-series I am currently working on : @thebakerstreetproject
(Probably others too that I am forgetting about !)
I was wondering, has it always been like that ? Or has something triggered some form of resurgence of the "old-as-time" Sherlock Holmes fandom ?
Does it have to do with a story that has -rather obviously- been queer for ages but that people finally feel free exploring ?
Or is it just because everything hit public domain...?
What do you think ?

it hits me in the head sometimes that if byler is endgame, stranger things is gonna go down in queer history big time. Like it already is, but imagine if two of the main characters are queer and in love and we get mike’s internalised homophobia and will’s fear of being too much or too gay and there’s a grant love confession and they save the world fuelled by the love they have for each other and each other only? Like it’s always been Mike and Will, Will and Mike.
That’s gonna be one of the most realistic portrayals of queer struggles and queer love in modern cinema and it’s gonna be epic and if the duffers or netflix or whoever is in charge can’t see that, they just lost a chance at changing the course of cinematic history for queer people.

I've said if before and I'll say it again, they did canon destiel with the thinnest veneer of plausible deniability
Setting aside the sheer magnitude of all other things we saw on screen, let's focus on the ending. Misha described how the final scene of Dean in heaven couldn't be filmed because of covid restraints, but it was supposed to be Dean walking into the roadhouse where he sees all of his friends and family, then he would sit down at the counter and Cas would have sat next to him and put an arm around his shoulders. THAT would have made Destiel more than 50% canon, it would truly have been a haaaaair away from canon because, how intimate is that?
Sure, he didn't mention where Sam would be in the scene (let's assume he's on the other side of Dean, that'd be the closest to disparage Destiel allegations) but even then, CAS would have been the one with the arm around him. And whatever face Jensen could have made in response to that, anything short of walking away would have made them 99.999% canon. It would have been Jayvik levels of canon, which is basically 100% if you aren't actively in denial
They put every single act of reciprocation from Dean on screen. They just didn't let him say it, in order to keep the deniability
EDIT: someone pointed out it might be the other way around, Dean was supposed to have his arm around Cas. Which would be even closer to 100% canon. If you have the clip of Misha from the con, attach it to the reblog 🏻

Queerbaiting sucks... but
I find it so affirming as a person who struggles with their romantic orientatation. I just live for that state of not quite friends/not quite lovers.
Like yes, they are partners, yes, they live and die for eachother, yes, every other relationship they have loses all meaning compared to them. But also no, they haven't kissed, and they don't want to kiss, and yet, somehow, every single word, every single glance, every single touch carries so much meaning and conveys so much love because this amount of platonic love is usually unheard of and they don't want the other to misunderstand. And I just- aaah, it gives me so much hope and reminds me that romantic love isn’t the only type of love worth experiencing and showing on screen/paper.
I do wish it was done intentionally and wasn’t just a product of homophobia and capitalism. Like I really, really hate the reason I get this representation. Like, it also leaves a somewhat sour taste in my mouth, because I can see that if the world was more accepting, it would probably be a romantic relationship.
(I sometimes see people calling queercoding queerbaiting, and just to make it clear, that isn't what i'm talking about)
