i will say that it is very interesting to watch river mature as a spy and as a man, as he unravels more about reality if the service and his family history. which are intertwined.

he clearly wanted to be mi5 agent as as webb said to be special. and as louisa pointed out recognised (also by river himself asking lamb multiple times if he should not be applauded). it is seen clearly right until the end of season 3, when finale is just a game between lady di and ingrid; and slough house is a collateral to protect service's reputation. then he get his hand on the file this whole ordeal was about and seeks his grandfather's guidance who tries to protect him but is impaired by dementia so a lot is lost in translation.

and he’s just getting sadder every moment since s3 finale. his life is aimless, his job is a collateral, his only family is slipping away. and then in season 4 at les arbes when he starts connecting the dots little by little: his grandfather and mother’s estranged relationship, his mother's hippie phase, his own abandonment, the alternate reality where he was raised at les arbes and what it does to a man.

and when he gets to someone finally gets to be recognised by his own father it means absolutely nothing given the idk 72 hours(?) river just went through. and yay bad guy is taken down, but he’s river own father.

his grandfather won’t be able to tell his side of the story as there is a wall created by dementia. and he’s in his 30s with fucked up family, fucked up career and fucked up life. because maturing in a way is to stop romanticising reality and just seeing what you are up against.

My biggest gripe with anti-ai discourse is all the solutions seem to work on the assumption that all AI is just for GPT and art-generation. If we seriously requires AI models to get permission from every source then that would make it effectively impossible for all the researchers who are doing non-profitable shit like, say, medical research or language studies to use the technology. I'm very confident these people don't know essentially every translation tool these days uses LLM.

something something something loki's love for sylvie more appropriately manifesting as platonic rather than romantic because his love for her is a lesson in healing--particularly the inner child that still holds resentment towards a lying, unaffectionate father. loki's heart breaks for sylvie because it breaks for him too. he sees her and views the version of himself that is still angry and deeply, deeply wounded. his affection stems from the empathy of understanding what it is to have had a narrative for their life controlled/manipulated for them. in their sameness, loki offers the compassion he wishes he would've gotten or would've been able to receive. and because to turn back on her would be to turn back on himself. loki allows himself to be something other than the trickster god he made himself out to be in a desperate plea at taking back control. it is mobius that tells him he can be other than what he was and offers him another mode of survival, all of it a lesson in love. sylvie teaches loki radical self-love, how to show up for himself and others, and mobius is the conduit through which loki practices this healthier way of loving.

i wrote this as a joke because I wanted to strangle a guy watching tiktoks without headphones on the bus, but im genuinely disturbed that we've gotten to a point where convenience comes first. and it depresses me even more that its used to justify and monetize greed

Minos and sisyphus argue over who visits who. Minos dislikes greed, it is too hot and dry and everything burns into your skin, sisyphus thinks lust is very cold and the winds and temperature are not nice to his hair. But minos agrees to travel to greed with him. Sisyphus covers him over with the fabric wrapped around his waist, picking him up and protecting him from the unforgiving sun. Sisyphus crosses the sands. Minos questions it. Is it not supposed to melt skin off bone? 'You grow used to it.' But he wasnt going to put minos through it.

They get to sisyphus' place, there is a pool in the lower floor, out of the sun and comparably very cool. The snakes seem to be enjoying themselves however. They enjoy sisyphus' presence, resting around him to soak up his body heat and the sun.

It is not an entirely private area, anyone is free to enjoy the water here. But its empty and just private enough for the two of them. They share drinks, minos enjoys the pool and sisyphus sits on the side. He just has his legs in the water and he leans back on his hands to watch minos in the pool, jokingly chiding him for how little he visits and how much he enjoys his time here.

Minos eventually makes his way closer to sisyphus. He takes sisyphus' foot into his hand, running his hand over it as he remembers their conversation earlier. It is terribly scarred and hurt looking. No wonder he doesnt feel it anymore. His whole body is like this, and they are not even scars from his actual punishment, just the cruelty of hell and its elements. Sisyphus brings his own hand to minos' side, soft unscarred skin, a testament to how different they are, how their treatment differs. Minos is brought deeper into his thoughts. He has never been treated like that. Not by hell. Not by anything. His hands travel to rub sisyphus' calves, working through the tense muscles as he thought, hands sinking into his damaged skin.
