sorry but asks phrased like this rub me very much the wrong way... i think a lot of you would benefit from learning to be a little more respectful in the way you talk about these kinds of topics, i.e. the language you use. it's not a big deal to enjoy playing with these kinds of topics and obviously I'm a firm believer in that. you don't need to meet some kind of standard or whatever to "earn" the license to talk or make art about any given topic. but if you want to do it in a way that doesn't make you look like an absolute tool you should probably learn to talk about it in a way that isn't outwardly unselfaware and disrespectful.

art can be a lot of things but fundamentally what matters is how you treat other people. needless to say, how you talk about them is a part of that. a little tact and half a google search go a long way.

i don't get "mad" at a lot of asks (speaking of: i haven't had a lot of time to answer asks lately but hopefully I'll be back soon... I'm working on projects!) but this one is just inherently disrespectful to a group of real people... is "junkie" in your lexicon? do you regularly refer to people as that in your head? i think it says a lot about your inner monologue, this is the lowest possible group you could possibly be punching down on.

besides all that, I'm kinda scratching my head on this message... because so much of hospital dirks formative life involved the concept of bro being addicted to methamphetamines. pretty sure i talked about that here extensively? to some degree maybe. my memory is quite bad maybe I didn't. personally I don't think he'd use downers... he's an active party, if you look at his behaviors in the comic he's just ridiculously aggressive, flashstepping looks like "tweaking" to some degree, he's always on the move he's always doing something. he would look very, very different if he was on downers. that's a completely different type of functionality, and one that I'm pretty sure he wouldn't enjoy much at all.

The animation quality compared to the manga is–#definitely noticeable and it's nice to see. That said... I still like the season 2 art style more? And I'm speaking strictly of art style.#The s2 one looks more soft and smooth while the da one is so much more rough.#The plot is... Very bsd-esque I don't think there's anything to add.#In my opinion Kyouka's arc is the one that turned out best tbh. I really like her narrative development and personal growth in this movie.#I like the complexity of her state of mind. how full of contradiction she is. I especially appreciate the recurring small changes of–#expression that indicate how she thinks differently from Atsushi even if she doesn't voice them. The fight between her cynicism and her–#kind nature. It's all very interesting.#Atsushi's development is interesting too. Although all the open questions about his ability we still have kind of leave me frustrated #I don't feel very strongly about Akutagawa in this movie? I mean‚ he's there. The ss/kk scenes are always great and in character and a joy–#to witness no matter what they do. He just doesn't shine particularly? Or at least personally I dont find the “proving my strength against–#myself” narrative arc to be particularly interesting. Imo it was a lot better flashed out in the da stage play! With the complexity that–#the dialogues with Chuuya added to the character. Dazai attacking him. And especially Aktgw understanding that Rashomon wasn't testing Aktg #but rather only expressing that unstoppable rage that is also Aktgw's own. About that I checked out the play and I really liked it!!#I only watched highlights (aka: ss/kk and chuu/aku scenes) but there's some stuff I really like. I like the conflict between Aktgw and–#Chuuya and how Chuuya messes up with Aktgw at first maliciously and then amiably. It's interesting how Atsushi himself observes that Kyouka #and Akutagawa get along. And especially the sskk almost-handholding and Atsushi saying Akutagawa has a nice profile were cute akjdhbsawhjb #Next. Da really is shipping paradise (╥﹏╥) Sorry but... It is. oda/zai. daz/atsu. ss/kk. s/kk. fuku/mori. chuu/aku. It really has everythin #and the moments are so good!!!! What else. Wish we'd see more of Tsujimura. And Christie. And women in general tbh.#Also‚‚‚‚‚ Atsushi's tiger form in this movie is ATROCIOUS. I've said it before but it's crazy how a franchises that relies so heavily on–#fanservice came up with something this hideous. Man the movie overall was pretty but Atsushi sure wasn't. #dungeon meshi #shuro #toshiro nakamoto #look you can hate him for other things but this is very clearly a case of cultures (& personalities influenced by these cultures) clashing #shuro is japanese/east asian-coded and laios is european white boy #i am not japanese but i also come from a collectivistic society #pakikisama is a filipino value both prized and abhorred #it relies heavily on being able to read social cues and prior knowledge of societal norms #shuro being from a different country/culture is important to his character #his repressed nature is meant to contrast with laios' open one like that's the point #they both had similar upbringings but different coping mechanisms #shuro explicitly admits that he's jealous of laios being able to live life sincerely #anyway the point is they were operating on different expectations entirely and neither had healthy enough communication skills #to hash things out before they got too bad #re his attraction to falin i personally believe he unfortunately mpdg-ed her #she represented something new & different. a fresh drink of water for his parched repressed self #alas not meant to be #i'll be honest the way ryoko kui handles both fantasy & regular racism in dm is more miss than hit for me #i don't doubt that a lot of the shuro hate is based off of marcille's pov of him #marcille famously racist 😭#characters' racist views don't often get (too) challenged #practically everyone is casually racist at some point #anyway. again if you're gonna hate shuro at least hate him for being complicit in human trafficking & slavery #he couldn't help falling for the wrong woman goddamn 😭#calemonsito notes #edit: upon further reflection i take back what i said about toshiro mpdg-ing falin!#i'm sorry toshiro 😭

Sketch dump! Since my handwriting isn't the best, I'm gonna transcribe what I've written under the cut :)

[Generation 1 iterators are the stocky initial proof of concept. There's only a handful of them, even fewer are still alive for the events of the game.

Gen 1's have very basic fashion. Long Robes and all that. NSH was the first to really personalize himself with a scarf. He was very proud.]

[Generation 2 are the most... abundant iterator model. Able to mechanically outpace the gen 1's, gen 2's were the start of the ancients' technological renaissance. Since there are so many of them, not all of them really care about staying in touch.

They take a lot of their fashion from the ancients. Some more than others.]

[Generation 3 were going to be the great new step foward technologically. As you can imagine the ancients disappearing gave them a lot of emotional issues.

Gen 3's tend to talk to other iterators the most, though they are... very easy to upset.

They base their fashion on their fellow iterators! They draw inspiration from those they are close to or idolize.

Chasing wind looks up to SOS but doesn't know her personally.]

[The next image is general design notes for myself when drawing iterator bodies, no big lore there.

The last image is how i imagine their suspension arms and umbilical attaches to their backs. How they connect through their clothing? I don't know and I don't feel like trying to figure it out. Also I drew Moon with her dress bc I think it's real cute :)]

Hmm, no guarantees I'd write these, but they've been on my mind the last couple days. But, if I added a couple more chapters to AWLB: Remnant's, namely, one wherein Jen talks a bit about her relationship with the Afton's, and another that talks more in depth about the incident mentioned briefly in part 1 with Roxy, would those be of interest?

I'd also like to say in regards to the Roxy one, I'd do my best to tie it to what's already been stated in the fic, but my ideas with her have changed a decent bit since then, so there may be some inconsistencies. ^^; I really do need to go back and re-do part 1 eventually. The overall story would stay the same sure, I'd just like to try and tell it a bit better and rework a few details.
