OK FIRST. MIRABELLE

absolutely absolutely she is the type to spoil the kids. with candy and sweets and late bedtimes she just cannot say no to them ever she is far too fond. and yes she would read to them. she picks out book she especially likes, or ones that she enjoyed as a kid, and totally not as an excuse to talk about these characters she loves so much nooo-

(as long as the books are. age appropriate ofc. not too scary for the youngins,,)

on top of that she would be very easy to talk to! isa and sif do make sure to always be emotionally open with their kids, would never want them to feel like they cant talk about something, but even then. sometimes its nice to have someone else to depend on. just in case. and mira loves to chat with em :)

odile cares for these kids oooh so so so much. she would never admit it but, much like the rest of her family, she would do horrible horrible things to make them happy. even if she. isnt the best with kids. in general. shes trying her best and the kids definitely thinking her dry humour and sarcastic bluntness is funny as hell

also she is 100% the embarrassing stories one. the kids ask her for the same silly story about their parents again and again eeevery time she visits. they never get tired of it and neither does she. (sif and isa certainly do though fjnf)

doing some very basic math bonnie would be arounnd their? early or mid twenties when the kids are. “born”. (wished into existence). which makes me honestly so depressed and sad to thinking about ohmy god theyre growing up i might die

i think they would bond very easily with the kids though! would enjoy getting to show and teach them things- things that make themself happy like cooking etc. i do think as well bon would be trying very hard, maybe a little too hard, to appear cool and chill around them. so that they respect them. (kinda how i hc sif to have been around bon early on pre-story,, bc nothing is more validating than the approval of an 11yo lol)

loops feeling are complicated. we joked about them being a funny babysitter, the kids probably think theyre so so fun to play with, buut it might take some time to get there. its been years since the end of the loops, working through jealously and learning to be satisfied with what they do have but! this is! different!! and its hard…

Ranking The Brotherhood on how good with kids I think they are.

(Listen my homework is depressing me and I want a break so here we go)

No. 1: Demon Bull King: Listen it’s not just because he’s a Dad™️ ok! You cannot convince me otherwise that he didn’t spoil the ever loving heck outta Red Son as a baby. He loved that little boy and would not hesitate to slaughter anyone who dared even looked at his son the wrong way. Sure, nowadays he has a few missteps but the love and care is still present. He’s not perfect but he’s the best of them all. 9/10—He stumbles a bit but he means well.

No. 2: Six-Eared Macaque: He’s the Go-To Babysitter and the Designated Driver™️ of the Brotherhood. He will care for any child if he needs to. Sure he might just feed them junk food or frozen stuff but hey, that’s better than nothing. He’s the Fun Uncle and kids just flock to him. 8/10—He tells really great bedtime stories too.

No. 3: Yellow-Tusk the Wise: He’s the standard. He’ll make sure the kids are fed, clean, and content but his idea of a “fun, engaging activity” is reading the Dictionary and discovering new words or something. If you need a babysitter fast he’s your reluctant go-to. 6/10—The kids will be asleep when you get home on account of how boring he was!

No. 4: Azure Lion: He’s not that great with young kids but the older they get the easier it is for him. He can talk to them more easily. He will not know what to do with a baby. He will hold it at arms length and just be terrified out of his mind. But he will also try to speak all “hip” to the older kids and fail spectacularly. 5.5/10—He definitely pronounces Meme as Me-Me.

No. 5: Golden-Winged Peng: I know in the OG Journey to the West they have a nephew—but would you let them around your nephew? They laughs anytime the kid falls over and has insulted several children to their faces. And that’s the easy stuff. 3/10—They May or May Not have dropped a kid once and it May or May Not have been an accident.

No. 6: Sun Wukong: What is wrong with you?! You trust this absolute disaster of an immortal with your children?! Do you hate your children or something? He’s never known illness or the true concept of death so what’s he going to do. He won’t actively try and kill the kid but man he doesn’t have to he’s that bad. 1/10—The other Monkeys on FFM are alive today because of pure instinct and little to no input from this monkey and no one can convince me otherwise.

Wouldn't Bad's availability make him the best babysitter? Like he's the one always stepping up to do so when he could be spending his time on the server doing other things. But he likes taking care of eggs (and parents often DO explicitly ask him to babysit on top of this) and has the time to do so. And he does a good job at it. Which,, makes him the best babysitter doesn't it?

Roier hasn't been babysitting multiple eggs in over half a year. He may have been the first to do in the first month of the eggs being around but he never kept up with it (for understandable reason, but it doesn't make him a reliable egg babysitter) and isn't really comparable to Bad. I'm not sure by what metric you are determining babysitters at tbh

This could be about several posts so I’m assuming you’re talking about this post but if not lmk anon (time to break out the read more cause we got a lot to say 😞(this is so fricken long and basically includes all my thoughts on the “bbh is the best babysitter” thing))

I’m not sure if you missed this on the post but anon did speak about the fact that Bad isn’t the first choice for the egg parents.

For foolish, he is sometimes the first choice because he’s aware of how often Bad is online but Foolish rarely asks anyone to babysit because he knows Leo will get on and whoever she’s most comfortable with she will ask to take care of her (and most of the time Leo chooses Roier if he’s online). Then Fit who always makes sure, that he can take care of Ramon; Pomme and Richas have like 6 parents so they just hangout with different people because they don’t need to worry about tasks like the og kids; and then Phil has a myriad of people(Tubbo, Forever, Fit, Niki & ect) he asks to babysit before Bad.

Really the only way Parents ask Bad to take care of their kids is when they know their usual go to babysitters won’t be online or if the egg admin cannot get online early enough to play with the parent or someone else they would typically ask. Like the night the eggs went missing, Leo’s admin could only get on really late (which Foolish couldn’t predict because he spent all day waiting for her) when only really 2-3 people are typically online so Bad and Tubbo took care of her because they were the only ones left online and Foolish couldn’t get back on again because of preplanned stream content with friends that he can’t just drop suddenly.

Sorry this might sound a bit blunt but not all of qsmp members are strictly minecraft streamers. Some of them are variety content creators and have lives outside of the qsmp so therefore cannot spend 6-12 hours everyday playing qsmp. (This isn’t saying Bad or tubbo don’t have a life but the others clearly have more strict boundaries of how long they will “work” for ie Phil rarely plays over 6 hours because it’s will end up being 2am for him or cellbit who doesn’t stream on mondays or Tuesdays )

Lowkey though I’m sick of using the term best babysitter because it doesn’t mean anything past just being an available babysitter cause literally anyone can do the tasks. So I am going to stop using it when talking about this. But when people are using this term to make Bad seem like this great person on qsmp is a bit wild. Cause saying he is “good at babysitting” or the “best babysitter” is kinda of like saying he’s the best parent which is discrediting the effort other parents genuinely put in for their egg children. Although y’all may not mean it directly like that, it is what y’all are saying cause babysitting really only involves doing the tasks, keeping the child alive and hanging out with them which is what the parent also have to do.

Like some bbh defenders will talk about bad being available to babysit as if he’s the only single parent and he’s working 3 part time jobs on top of this which he isn’t. He and Dapper just have more free time to play on the server and he doesn’t struggle with egg tasks cause of this. Like when he babysits he does the tasks and then hangs out with the eggs like everyone else would. That doesn’t make him the greatest babysitter alive it just makes him a decent person like everyone else on the qsmp who has and would do the tasks for any egg.

So when y’all say bbh is the best babysitter you are kind of blurring the lines between actually meaning babysitter and really saying he’s the best parent. Which is a stupid thing to argue cause none of them are the best, they are all just trying their hardest to keep their child that they love and care for alive.

Also I was talking about Roier mainly in the past since I’ve only really compared him and Bad babysitting Leo. But what I’m trying to point out is the inaccuracies when people talk about Bad babysitting. Like saying that Bad’s the only one that does it or that he’s the best because he gets on with all the eggs. When literally everyone gets on with the eggs and Roier who has done babysitting exactly like Bad has. Also Roier is still active on the server and babysits Leo & Richas (although it’s more Richas and Roier hanging out). I could say the same for Tubbo who took care of Chayanne and Tallulah for a week or the odd time Foolish or Baghera pick up an extra egg when taking care of their own egg. But I choose Roier because his experiences babysitting from the past are incredibly similar to Bad’s. Although I could argue about how it is different because the eggs that Bad does babysit are very independent now and he only has to do the tasks while the eggs roier took care of back then were way more dependent and needed constant supervision but I won’t because that’s useless.

Plus part of my argument about all this is that the eggs being babysat is completely dependent on who the egg is most comfortable with, who is online and who is with the parent that has to leave; which again isn’t always Bad.

So no I don’t think Bad is the “best babysitter” because any “sacrifices” bad puts in for the eggs are his own free will/doing. Anyone could do the same as him but the only reason he can make those “sacrifices” is because he has way more free time then anyone else on the server apart from tubbo so it’s an unfair judgement. Plus there really shouldn’t be the best of anything on the qsmp cause when y’all argue about there being a best of anything, it just puts down the other members who do honestly try their hardest when doing anything on the server.

QSMP Quackity Swap AU - Guapoduo

I mentioned once that El was very close with Guapoduo but I never went into detail with it.

For those that don't know, this is my swap au with Quackity and El Quackity where Elq was the OG

Elq was close with Roier from the very start of the server, and he was one of the very few people that Elq would go out of his way to spend time with/around without it involving some grand scheme. Roier enjoyed his company and how he never failed to darken up a room with only a few words or even a glance at someone. Elq thought Roier was fun and he liked having someone that just took him at face value and didn't call him emo (Shut up, MISSA-)

Elq had a tendency to make a lot of jokes about getting with Roier but Elq jokes in a very...deadpan and non-romantic way so it just came out as "[Scowling] I can't believe I married you." which Roier found hilarious but could never tell if it was flirting or jokes. If questioned on this, Elq would pretend they questioned him about something else.

Elq was the defacto babysitter of Bobby to the point where Bobby and Tilin were like siblings. He was a...odd man and honestly probably not the best babysitter, but he once took several arrows in a row without wearing armor to make sure Bobby (Who was fully decked out in armor and had a totem) didn't get hit so he was alright in Jaiden and Roier's book of who to let babysit. Elq was close to Roier to the point where multiple people on the island genuinely couldn't tell if they were dating or not (Roier had no idea either, but he was leaning towards 'No'.) (Elq acts like the question was dumb and refuses to answer).

Cellbit made things interesting because he was extremely close with him from the SECOND that he met the man, it barely took any time at all. They bonded over puzzles, scheming, and mysteries when they first met and would grow to bond over their natural lack of compassion and empathy for others (Both of them have very low empathy and have selective compassion).

Cellbit thought that Elq was fascinating and made for an amazing debate partner. Elq thought Cellbit was so interesting, he was entralled by him completely.

He had a...weird relationship with Richas that consisted of both of them threatening the other constantly but jumping to their defense the second anyone else slanders them. Richas has stabbed multiple people for making fun of Elq. He still becomes 1% of Richas's parent in this au but neither of them tend to acknowledge it to each others faces. Behind each other's backs, they'll be like "Well, MY dad could trick your dad into signing away his soul!" or "MY son is so much better than your kid. What can your kid do that mine can't do better?" Cellbit finds it adorable and loves watching the two bicker.

Elq, after knowing Cellbit for some time, does the same flirting joke thing that he does with Roier (and while it flusters Cellbit a lot more than it does Roier), and it confuses the shit out of poor Cellbit. He tried to ask the other members, but they had no answers. Neither did Roier but he found the whole thing funny from the start so it was unlikely he'd be much help either way.

Once Roier and Cellbit started dating, they both thought Elq would either get jealous of one of them or stop with the jokes (Maybe do a mock assassination attempt if he was especially pouty). They did not account for him acting as if absolutely nothing changed. The only thing that changed with his banter/jokes/flirting was that he would speak as if all 3 of them were in a relationship. It confused them so bad that they'd occasionally forget that they weren't actually dating Elq (At least, they thought so).

Elq basically lived in the castle with them for fucks sake, it was a really confusing situation that no one except Elq understood (and god knows he wasn't willing to explain).

More Raihan thoughts. Trying to figure out how the og Galar friend group went after Leon became champion. I'm trying not to go the route of "oh they don't talk anymore", but rather a "they are all still close but Life happens + Rose making Leon insanely busy/ basically controlling his life, so it's soooo hard to really connect like they used to"

Anyway.

By the time Leon is champion both Naomi and Hop are 5. I want them to meet Raihan, since I don't think they got the opportunity to do so before? Maybe during a phone call they heard him but never met in person. So when Leon comes back home to celebrate ( after having to do some convincing to Rose maybe?) he brings Raihan along. Or, if Raihan needs some time to come to terms with his loss, a year after everything has happened. Hop is excited to meet Leon's friend and rival. Naomi is a little shy mess ( I think this was before Naomi realized she was trans too so Extra Shy). She. She was scared of Raihan at first yes. Raihan may have scared her with his hoody. Leon may have knocked the shit out of Raihan for that.

I think when it comes to Leon's visits, he tries very hard to make visits home every year. It becomes increasingly hard when Rose keeps him so busy, but he really truly tries ( what I'm saying is that sometimes Leon genuinely can't make the yearly visits a thing but he really tries to. Though phone calls, when he's available are often). This goes for Raihan too, as a gym leader. But I like to think that sometimes, Raihan would tag along with Leon when visiting Postwick. Or, in the cases where Leon couldn't make it, he'd go to Leon's place and visit the two rascals ( number one babysitter) ( <- self proclaimed)

Minor Nessa thought: she would do the same thing as Raihan ( visit the country side) but mostly for Sonia lol. I'm currently thinking she's either an only child or has an older brother, so I don't think she has much experience with people much younger than her. So she gets Stressed when babysitting Hop and Naomi. Naomi is relatively easy, though she doesn't always voice her concerns and is prone to cry. A lot. And Hop.....Hop has limitless energy and it's hard for Nessa to keep up. She does not know how Raihan is able to keep up with both.

The biggest thing that Raihan struggles with is the fact that he is a big ass city kid. And his 2 best friends, and one best friend younger brother and his best friend, are all country folk. Waking up at the crack of dawn? Honest to god, could not be him. Knowing different types of berries and shrubs? He researches. He does. Doesn't know shit( the kids know more than him, the kids ).

Finally, cause I feel I always come back to this, the few times Raihan visits, Naomi likes it when he does her hair. He does these fancy styles ( read: honestly simple styles but with accessories that Raihan brought) that Naomi loves and it makes her feel pretty :3

I didn't do much writing this year (grad apps,,,,why) but I can put some things in a list to kick off a brand new writing season!! So here: top three list of most fun i've had working on a fic this year! 1. Sunset Bridge, part 2 of the mirrors of god series (Persona 5/Death Note crossover, where Akechi was adopted by the Yagamis)

What a series. What an idea. 'Haha Goro Akechi and Light Yagami look the same' we said. 'They could be brothers', we said. 'Wouldn't it be funny if that were a thing', we said. And now we're 10 pages deep in an outline for the ages, both screaming and shaking and sliding down walls as we accidentally write the most Sibling relationship to ever sibling. A hug and a bow to Writeous for your wit, cleverness, and sheer brass balls to smush the Death Note timeline, which is a swiss watch of a thing, with Persona 5, a fucking 100+ hour free choice JRPG, but it has been so much fun writing these guys!! "Why do you resent the fact that you love your family?" and we keep getting different answers every time,,,,man. Man!! i legit cant say too much because godDAMN did we go crazy, but MAN!!!! 2. The Hippocratic Oath (Revised) (the premed!kaneki ken au)

I can't exactly say it was 'fun' to write this so much as it was meaningful to write this fic lol. Tokyo Ghoul was one of my first fandoms (back in...middle school holy shit), and I was chomping at the bit to play off of the anti-martyrdom themes rooting around in the og series for a while. Is it my best work? Debatable. Is it my most well-plotted? Depends on your version of plot. Did I go fucking batshit insane, black out, awaken to a 20pg outline, and subsequently drag Misery Man Kaneki Ken kicking and screaming towards some semblance of a recovery arc by (among other things) making him a STEM major? yes. and i regret none of it, because i tbh needed to write this fucker anyway (changed my major, gender AND sexuality!!! the fuck!!!). aaaaaa the paradox of 'do no harm',,,,,the problem never ends because martyrdom was never the solution from the start,,,,,,,the asymptotic condition we're all saddled with where yeah we're burdens on eachother but that's like cool and shit because it's not about deservin it's about living aaaaa anyway yeah only time i wrote a fic and got knocked flat on my ass into a different career track so yep it goes on here! i also decided to make every chapter 10k like a fool, so pray for me. oh vocaloid-stan kaneki we're really in it now,,,, 3. Flock Together (Persona 5/BNHA, an Akechi-in-BNHA au)

I have nothing big about this fic. It's fun to write a dumbass getting jumpscared by a child. Man makes One (1) good decision and is now a Babysitter. The child being Babysat is also ready and willing to throat-punch people. i cannot stress enough that I am writing this fic to make Eri go fucking insane, and for every chapter I post there are three scenes of eri just going fucking bonkers hitting kneecaps, swearing, and doing normal girl things like reminding people to wash their money because 'money laundering' is v important. stress ball fic thank GOD. don't worry about the plot shhhhhh i dont have plot dont worrrry about it-- but yeah!!! That’s my top three most fun fics this year!!!!!!! i’d like to @yellowocaballero, @ragnarokascendant and @bitemeilovewaffles to reply to this ask, if willing and able! lets celebrate what  we’ve made and make room for more to come!!

Ok. Ok. You wanna start a debate? That’s fine.

1. Idc whether Leonidas is Leo’s real name or just a nickname, she’s still calling him a name he asked to not be called, which is incredibly disrespectful and just plain shitty. You, like the narrative, have completely ignored the object of the post, which is to point out the red flags in the relationship.

The reason why it’s called a “red flag” is because it’s big and bright and shouldn’t be ignored. “Red” connotes danger. This behaviour is a sign of something bad. Don’t gloss over it.

2. I know that Leo also doesn’t treat her the best. This is your argument telling me that I should ship them?

Saying “oh but Leo does it too” doesn’t actually excuse the behaviour, and you’ve even admitted that this kind of treatment doesn’t respect boundaries and isn’t okay.

3. I am not “hating on Calypso just because”. I have literally just given you at least two reasons in that post why I “hate on” her. That is far from “just because”.

They’re toxic- bordering on abusive- she treats Leo like dirt, and actively tells him she hates him. I know it’s played as banter but there’s a line and I feel like they crossed it. Not to mention she’s thousands of years older than him (In TOA it talks about it being iffy if Lester dated teenagers, so why is it not the same for Cal, who is old enough to be Apollo’s babysitter?) and in the original myth dated heros much older than Leo or Percy.

They just make me so uncomfortable, so sorry if I don’t wanna root for them as a couple.

4. Do I really need justification to dislike something? I can give you several, and I did in that post- but I shouldn’t actually have to prove to you my reason to hate things. So yes, I can hate on Cal “just because” if I wanted to- even though, as stated above, that is not what I’m doing.

If you don’t like it, just keep on scrolling. Did you really think that saying “stop doing that” would legitimately make me stop doing it? When in the history of the gods’ green earth has THAT ever happened on the Internet?

5. The whole point of my og post was to lay out a concise argument why they’re toxic, using reasoning and evidence from the text. You haven’t actually given me a reason why they’re a good ship, just pointing out that Leo is shitty to her too. Actually give me a reason to like them, with analysis, supported by evidence from the text, and maybe I’ll hear you out. But right now, you haven’t given me a reason to not hate them.

6. My main gripe with Caleo is that, not only are they toxic, but the way the narrative is written doesn’t explicitly paint that as a bad thing. And since this is a series aimed at children, I’m very conscious of the fact that the lesson that kids will take away from this is “Hey you can’t have a “happy ending” unless you find your life partner at sixteen- and it doesn’t matter if they treat you poorly because anything’s better than being single!!” Because that’s a narrative that’s been pushed for centuries by this stupid amatonormative society, and Rick is just part of the problem.

Frozen got it right by teaching kids how to spot red flags, instead of telling them to ignore them for the sake of “true love”

Thinking about names having power in the Riordanverse- because it’s exactly the kind of literature motif that I LOVE.

Thinking about “Leo” being short for “Leonidas” who was a Spartan King who sacrificed his life fighting to save his people in the Battle of Thermopylae.

Leo, similarly, gave his own life to stop Gaea and save the world.

That comparison has already been made before, but there’s more-

Leo rejects the name “Leonidas” and chooses to go by “Leo”- in a way, rejecting the fate he’s assigned to. And he doesn’t suffer that fate in the end. He lives.

Yeah, names have power. But what you choose to name yourself has even more power. For example, the fact that Thalia rejected the last name “Grace” because it associated her with her mother, but then taking it back up again when she found out Jason was alive. And Leo chose to not go by “Leonidas” and he also chose to take the physician’s cure and come back.

And here we get onto what Calypso’s doing. By calling him something that he asked to not be called, she is taking away that agency of choice. She is taking away that power.

It’s a small moment, but it REALLY bugs me. Because, like Leo, I go by a shortened version of a longer name, and often one of the ways bullies used to hold power over me was by calling me by my full name repeatedly, even after I asked them to stop. It’s also a way a lot of transphobes hold power over trans people- by deadnaming. By taking away the power of their name, their choice, their identity, who they are, who they’ve built themselves to be, and their right to control all of that.

Now, I’m NOT saying Calypso is going as far as deadnaming Leo, but it’s a similar premise. It’s a manipulation tactic used to knock people down.

Now friendly nicknames -e.g. “Seaweed Brain”- are different, because Percy consents to it. It’s a term of affection between them (and notice how it’s different when Thalia used it. It’s a name that symbolises percabeth’s love, and it’s a name only Annabeth can use). But this is a name, while said in a jokey, banter-y manner, that Leo has SPECIFICALLY ASKED to not be called. And she does it anyway, ignoring the boundary he’s set, ignoring his choice to shape his own identity, ignoring everything that symbolised INCLUDING the fact that it’s literally Leo saying “I choose life” by rejecting the name that fated him to death. It’s just a big red flag for me. And if you put that on top of the fact that she also physically hurt him in this (enough to make him say “ow”) then you just get a whole host of Reasons Why This is NOT Leo’s “Happy Ending”- which the narrative paints it out to be.

Growing up in Hawkins was hard; not much to do and pretty far from everything, it was a small town where gossip spread like wildfire. It was hell.  

And the first time you experienced hell was already at age 7. When some girl named Jessica started telling everyone you liked Steve Harrington, your best friend Steve Harrington. 

It was true of course, but that didn’t mean you wanted everyone to know, especially not him, or his friends for that matter. 

You weren’t a loner, but you weren’t miss popular either, and though people might think that hanging out with “cool Steve” would make you instantly popular, it didn’t. And that made you wonder why Steve hung out with you at all, but you never said anything. 

It was easy to crush on little Steve, of course, he was always so stylish and cute with his shiny hair and his very cool limited edition Mystery Inc. lunchbox. Not to mention he was always so nice, looking out and protecting you from anything that could possibly harm you. 

School was unbearable when everyone started teasing you about liking Steve. You would hear kids throwing air kisses all around or even singing the whole “sitting on a tree” song, mocking you. 

The teasing lasted for a few weeks and then suddenly stopped overnight; it was weird but you didn’t question it — you weren’t gonna go around and ask people to tease you again. 

Steve seemed to be very chill about it because he never brought it up or even asked about it. You wondered if he was uncomfortable around you, but you were just a kid, so you didn’t bring it up either. 

Many years later you were still very much best friends, hanging out whenever it was possible. Your schedules were complicated since you were both working most of the time, you at the library while he was in Family Video, working with Robin. You had different work days and times, so whenever he was off he would hang at the library to be with you and you would visit at his job. 

You were saving up for college and that meant working two jobs. That's why after high school you had gotten the extra job at the library, but your favorite one was still the babysitting. You had been doing it since you were 16 and had grown pretty attached to the kids you babysat

You started watching Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin back when they still played D&D in little Mike’s basement. And then El joined, and eventually so did Max. And even though they pretended they didn’t need you anymore, you knew those kids would be dead if you weren’t around to save their asses. You loved them. 

One rare night when all the “grown-ups” were free, the kids demanded a movie night at your place. 

“C’mon guys we haven’t seen you in forever!” Dustin said over the phone. 

“Hey you know I’d love to, but have you asked the others? What did Steve and Robin say?” you asked him. 

“Shit, I haven’t asked,” he whispered and you chuckled. “Let me call you right back,” he said and hung up the phone before you could say anything else. 

Not even five minutes later the phone rang again. 

“They said yes,” Dustin reported back in an excited tone. 

“Great! Then come on over, my parents still haven’t come back from the cruise trip, so I got the house for myself,” you said, matching his excitement. “I’ll call Steve and tell him to bring the movies, you bring some snacks,” you spoke again. 

“Cool, bye.” Dustin hung up again. 

You sprang out of bed and squealed in delight. 

Half an hour later, your house was being invaded by excited teens hugging you tightly. They would never admit it but you knew they had missed you just as much as you had missed them. 

Max and El started telling you about the plans they had made for Saturday, shopping at the mall and teaching El how to skate. You smiled fondly at them — oh how your kids had grown up. 

“Ok snacks are set and the groove is on, the only thing missing is the movie,” said Dustin with a smug smile. 

“Ugh who even says groove anymore,” Mike answered, rolling his eyes. 

“Cool people, but you would never know, would you?” Max spoke up, defending Dusting. 

Raucous laughs and howlers echoed through the kitchen so loudly you almost missed the sound of the doorbell. 

“All right all right nerds, settle down,” you chuckled to yourself as you moved to the door and opened it, finding Robin and Steve arguing about something. 

“Just tell her! I swear you over complicate your life!” Robin said, facing Steve, not realizing you had opened the door. 

Steve elbowed Robin in the ribs as he realized you were looking at them with a confused look in your face. 

“Oh heeeeeeey,” Robin said nervously. 

“Hey guys!” You greeted them warmly but couldn’t avoid asking, “what was that all about? Tell who what?” 

“Nothing!” both answered in unison. 

You gave them one more suspicious glance and let them in. 

“Finally!” You heard Lucas’s voice say as you closed the door behind them. 

“Yeah yeah yeah, pipe down Sinclair,” Steve said pretending to be annoyed. 

“What even took you so long?” Will spoke then. 

Steve and Robin exchanged a look and then Robin answered nonchalantly, “Oh we were just talking about first crushes.” 

Steve’s eyes bulged so much you thought they would fall out of place. 

“Oh,” El said, suddenly very curious. “So who was your first crush?”

Robin panicked, so you covered for her, “Oh probably Johnny Depp, right Buckley?”

She exhaled and gave you a grateful look. “Yeah totally."

“Oh c’mon that doesn’t count! It has to be a real person,” Mike said. 

“Johnny Depp is a real person!” you said, again trying to defend your friend. 

“You know what I mean!” Mike said again and the girls giggled. 

“How bout you, huh?” Dustin asked you. 

“My first crush?” you asked him back. He nodded. 

“Oh, Steve,” you answered casually. 

“WHAT,” everyone yelled. Robin was silently smirking.  

“Yeah, back when we were still in elementary school some girl told everyone I had a crush on Steve,” you chuckled. “I was pretty mortified at the time.”

You sat on the couch, every pair of eyes still on you. 

“What?” Now was your turn to ask. 

“That was true?” Steve asked in a soft tone. 

“Course,” you answered. “I figured you knew.”

Everyone was silent, but you weren’t uncomfortable. 

“Hm.” Robin said, “What about you Harrington?”

All eyes focused on him instead, even yours. 

Steve scratched the back of his neck nervously.

“Oh you know, Olivia Newton John” Steve answered casually.

“Huh uh, not this bullshit again” Mike said with an unamused look on his face. 

“Language!” both you and Steve admonished. 

“So?” Max asked, smirking. 

Steve looked at you nervously. 

The kids figured it out before you and they started to scream and laugh hysterically. 

“Oh my god just tell her!” Robin said as she slapped the back of Steve’s head. 

And then it clicked. 

Oh. OH. 

“Me?” you asked him with a bewildered look on your face. 

“Yeah, is that so hard to believe?” he said defensively. 

“Well, yeah,” you said just as defensively, “you never said anything back then.”

“Of course not! I was a dumb little kid back then!” Steve answered. “I was scared and thought it was a lie! So I told everyone to stop messing with you because I knew that if they kept that up, I wouldn’t have been able to handle it,” Steve rambled exasperated. “I’ve always loved you but you never really flirted with me like all those girls in high school, I thought you didn’t feel the same and now I look like a complete idiot because–” 

“Hold on,” you interrupted, completely shocked. “You love me?”

Everyone was watching this unfold as if it was way better entertainment than watching a movie, but you didn’t really care because all you were focused on was Steve and these newfound feelings.

Steve slapped a hand over his mouth, but it was too late, the words had already left his mouth. 

The room was awfully quiet and you could’ve cut the tension with a knife, until Robin, as ever to your rescue, ushered the kids to your backyard. They all protested and whined but left the room. 

Then it was just you and Steve looking at each other. Time had frozen, minutes feeling like hours. 

After what felt like eternity, Steve finally spoke up. “Yeah.”

He stepped closer and closer to you while you remained frozen with shock. 

“Do you, uh,” he said slowly, his voice but a whisper, “still feel the same?”

You chuckled softly and whispered back, “yeah dumb-dumb, I still feel the same.”

A giant smile started to take over his face, his little dimple making its appearance. You mimicked his expression and started laughing at how ridiculous the whole situation was. He joined you before asking you what was so funny. 

“Well, nothing, I was just thinking about how we love to over complicate our lives,” you joked. You started laughing again and he did too. 

Slowly, he placed his hands on both sides of your face, cradling you as if you were the most delicate thing in the whole world. He looked into your eyes, and then your lips, silently asking if he could kiss you, he would never force you to do something you were uncomfortable with. You glanced at his soft looking lips and back into his eyes, nodding. 

He sighed into your mouth as if this kiss was the only thing he could ever want and you tangled your fingers into his huge, shiny, soft hair. 

Moments later you smiled into the kiss, making a mental note to thank Robin for pushing Steve to confess. 

“I love you too, by the way.”

So out of nowhere I was tagged and quoted by a SR shipper for a blog of mine posted in August of last year. Talk about throwback but, hey, gotta appreciate that level of snooping. 😉

Back in the day I actually used to encourage discourse amongst Inuyasha fans- both shippers and antis alike- but I've since realized that it's a lost cause. But for you, @feministmetalgreymon , I'll grant this exception. Just 'cause it's been a while so why the hell not. haha

I want to assure you, however, that nothing you say will ever convince me that Sesshomaru and Rin are meant to be together romantically or that the story intended it so. Nor will you find any validation here. You can ship them for all I care, but please for all that is good and holy while I have your attention try- I mean really try- to understand why it is so many of us Inuyasha fans are so against this pairing in the first place (newsflash: it's not about ship wars), and why we believe a romance between the two of them is completely and utterly out of character.

For those of you interested in reading this, the blog of mine in question that the above shipper mentions in their counter-argument is here for reference. It's titled "Jaken = Rin's Dad?" I'm going to try and keep this short, but I'm also making no such promises. After all, I'm not exactly known for my brevity. haha Now let's get crackin'!

I worked with kids for many years as a teacher, and many people in my family have too or still do. Two of them happen to be just over 5 feet which is quite short for the average adult woman living here. I've also worked alongside many a women of short stature, and never did I hear any of them complaining of issues with their students having difficulty differentiating them from their own peers just because they were short as well. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. Kids are quite smart and pick up on a lot more than you seem to give them credit for. Height is not the only characteristic they look at to determine who's an adult and who's not, and it's foolish to suggest otherwise. So unless you're a babysitter who's still in their teens and/or who has very childlike features or behavior then I'm afraid what you're getting at is total hogwash. This is just another example of how you shippers offer nothing of real substance to your reasoning, it's only ever cherry-picking or strawmanning from you guys. Stop deflecting from the real issues please, because this certainly isn't one and only winds up being a complete waste of time for all parties involved.

Okay, calm down now. I wasn't insinuating that relationships between parents and children can't change over time in terms of how they get along. Of course that's possible, as all families experience their fair share of estrangement and abuse. What I was speaking about was in reference to the overall dynamic between the two. Because a bad mother or father can still be viewed as a parental figure to their child even if say they're not in said child's life anymore. Since Sesshomaru and Rin share a healthy bond- and just a friendly reminder that in my blog I even said that he doesn't have to necessarily be labeled her father but that a romantic relationship later would still be inappropriate- I didn't deem it necessary to address what you brought up. Plus, it kinda, umm, misses the point?? Please, let's stay on topic. And it's not captured in the screenshot, but stop acting like there isn't a small part of them that idolizes their parents at some point during childhood. Just like you mention later on how it's normal for kids to have innocent crushes on adults that they eventually grow out of? Well, guess what, the same concept applies here. Kids eventually learn that their parents are far from perfect and make mistakes too. Rin is so damn young in the OG series though that we never even get to see her reach that maturity level.

LOL! Alright, okay, so the "unbreakable bond" bit you're mentioning was actually me quoting you sessrinners. Did you not catch that? I literally spelled it out. *sigh* The whole point I was making is that shippers like yourself make hypocritical and contradictory statements all.the.goddamn.time. One moment you guys claim that Sesshomaru and Rin were essentially strangers and meant very little to each other, only to say in the same breath a few seconds later that they were destined to be together and their bond is like no other. I agree, their bond is special, but why must that mean they're going to fall in love?

That is the root of the matter here. Too many animes/mangas have romanticized this older adult man & young girl growing up falling in love trope that it's become way too normalized and widely accepted across the world- and yes, in some cultures more than others. Sadly, you lack the awareness to recognize how this all works. You know how we know that? When we see that you shippers are so desensitized to sexualized images of girls in the media that you share posts like this one below which *subtly* imply a future romance although one half of that pairing is still just a child in the pic and then try and pass it off as cute. That's like super fucking problematic and it scares me that you can't see that (or deny you do). 🤢

After all that's said and done, Sesshomaru leaving Rin in the village with Kaede is to me the strongest indicator more than pretty much anything else he's done for Rin that proves he is her adoptive father. It's so funny to me how you somehow see the exact opposite though. 🤔 What I think is happening is that you got yourself on some squeaky clean ass shipper goggles fresh out of your little echo chamber. Because I hate to tell you, but what you're fantasizing is what you want to see and not what's actually there on screen or was written into the story. I'm strictly talking about Inuyasha and the manga of course. [For the TL; DR version skip to the last paragraph.]

Parents looking after their kids is what parents are supposed to do. A good parent will do anything to keep their child safe and ensure they are cared for, so what he did for her by leaving her there was in her best interests clearly. Besides, as a babysitter, you more than most people should understand that parents aren't always able to be there for their kids so sometimes others gotta step in to help. Haven't you heard of the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child?" Which in Rin's case is literally true! 😂 Sometimes kids are even sent off to stay with grandparents and that's who raises them instead. Or maybe they have to temporarily live with an aunt or uncle because their single parent's job requires they work out of town 4-5 days of the week so they're hardly home. But that doesn't mean that the parents care or love their kids any less, and it's foolish to assume that Sesshomaru must have thought very little of Rin simply due to the fact that he made the decision to leave her in the village. Come on, y'all are acting like he abandoned her there!!

It's just given the circumstances Sesshomaru finally came to learn that Rin traveling with him was no longer safe. I also like to think it's because he wished for her to live a more normal life and to learn how to fully trust humans again. Plus, continuing to travel with him as young as she was would have proven dangerous and unwise. Now for you to know all this and still manage to turn his past actions towards her while she was just a child into a romantic gesture is what boggles my mind. Regardless of how you look at it, from my perspective or your own, Sesshomaru is in the wrong. Either he's a father figure who impregnates his daughter at the young age of approximately 14. OR he's this man she used to travel with who maybe isn't a father to her but who nonetheless basically rapes her since kids her age can't consent to sex with an adult. Idk about you but it sounds to me like nobody here wins with either scenario we're given. In other words, you should be just as mad as we are. If only one side didn't choose to forsake their morals they know we both have in common for the sake of a ship. Welp. 🤷‍♀️

I agree, incest is disgusting but that's not the only problem we have with this pairing. A romantic bond forming between Sesshomaru and Rin would also constitute as grooming.

You realize that over the years he visited her in the village that he brought her gifts too and essentially watched her grow up right before his very eyes, right? I mean, I know you do, but I really shouldn't have to explain further why pursuing a romantic/sexual relationship with each other is plain and simple wrong. And before you say it's not because he didn't have any malintent, please understand that considering their history and power dynamic up to then that yes this is still considered grooming even if Rin supposedly "wanted it" or "made the first move." Whether you consider him her father or not, as the adult who took on a role resembling that of a caretaker in her early life- a critical developmental time for a child- Sesshomaru is obligated to turn down any advances by Rin and most definitely should not initiate any himself. As the first close adult figure she's had in her life since her parents died, it's unfathomable to imagine how Sesshomaru could go through with taking advantage of this young girl who was under his care and supervision since they met. To think he could be capable of betraying that trust sickens me to the core.

This. Now THIS is how a parent/guardian or a similar adult caretaker (babysitter, teacher, etc.) talks to a child. And, in turn, this is how some young children talk to adults. You'd be insane and delusional to deny it! We see it in our everyday lives, do we not? From where else do you think our stories draw most of their inspiration? Yes, obviously these fictional universes have aspects of fantasy that don't exist in the real world, but so how then do you suppose we're able to relate to them? The reason for that being is because these stories are written by people for people, so naturally there are going to be real life aspects embedded throughout. Sure, a little escapism doesn't hurt as we don't need to take everything so seriously, but ultimately we all need to recognize that the messages in the stories we tell matter. Most stories possess a combination of both light and dark themes, but when it specifically comes to the latter we gotta be careful with how we tackle this in children's media since kids are far more impressionable.

So if at the center of a story we have two of the main protagonists whose mom is basically their same age and to top it off she knew their dad when she was just a girl and who just so happened to help raise her, wouldn't you say that's beyond fucked up or at the very least so fucking weird? Like why would we think it's even remotely okay for our children to watch this garbage?? Really think about it. Try and be objective for once and think about how it would sound explaining this storyline to an outsider who's never watched IY or HNY. Well, antis have tried this before many times and we always get the same reaction: Ewww!

Like I said earlier, if you wanna ship it then fine, but 1) please stop seeking our approval or trying to change our minds - your ship wish came true didn't it, so why do you need us to validate it? 2) even though it's not canon, respect that we don't support this sequel portraying pedophilia in a positive light. It's harmful af to not only allow but glorify the continuation of sexualized images of young girls everywhere. And I shouldn't have to say this, but just because this trope is popular as you say does not make it right. Lolicon themes in the media have been an issue forever and it needs to stop. Yes, even some people in Japan or "the East" would agree. Shocker!

We're pissed off and rightfully so because Yashahime's TV rating is 14, not to mention it airs at the prime time kids in Japan watch TV after getting home from school. That's Towa and Setsuna's age, true, but if Rin being the mom when she's like only a year older than them (please don't argue w/ me about the math- antis have so far been right every time with it) is straight-up disgusting and not something we should be supporting or endorsing. Rin's a whole ass child!! Please don't start with the "but times were different then so her having kids at 15 is acceptable" argument either, because we've already debunked that and every other single excuse you guys throw at us. Besides, how or why would you expect young viewers to know these historical "facts" anyway, especially if as you suggest fiction doesn't affect reality so what does it matter? Yet here we are, arguing over a fictional show in real life almost a year and a half into the "Sesshomaru fucks?" sequel being announced. My ass, your ass, hell all our asses fiction doesn't affect reality!

I do not wish you any ill will, it's just I'm not really sure what you expected to get out of all this besides maybe getting on my nerves perhaps. haha A lot of you shippers have been desperately scrambling to interact with us, lurking in our tags, jumping onto our posts screaming canon and getting so defensive even though you sought us out first. We've been sticking to our tags, so how about you stay in your lane too. By the way since we're on the topic, have you seen Twitter or Reddit?! SR shippers there are the actual worst and many Inuyasha fans (not just antis) have complained of not feeling welcomed to engage in fandom spaces anymore. Shippers swarm them and scare them off simply because fans don't like your ship and refuse to accept it. It's pathetic, really. No one should ever be bullied or harassed just because they don't like something you might. We're all fans of Inuyasha, aren't we? So let's act like it. Yashahime on the other hand, you guys are welcome to that pungent heap of trash. Fans have a right to criticize it too, but if you like it then good for you, so keep on liking it and don't mind us.

I'm almost done, but real quick back to Jaken! Let's not forget about how the official Yashahime website- which came out after my blog, mind you- described Jaken. This translation isn't the best one available but it's the only version a fellow anti friend could track down. The over hyping and so much glorification of Steve Harrington has led me to dislike that character. I used to like Steve in season 2 and season 3 so much but now I m getting a little bit annoyed with his character.

Like yeah, he is a great character but there are other characters also that are so much greater than him ,has so much potential and growth than Steve.

And so much memefication of Mom Steve like he is the best mom, best babysitter and what not. Like compared to Joyce, Mom Steve is nothing. Also referring him as the best character where there are other characters like Hopper, Max, Dustin, etc.

On top of that since season 4, some of the fans are also referring to him as the best brother, he is a brother that Max deserves etc,etc

Like seriously ???

And to add that Jimmy and Megan saying Steve fights for everyone and saves them everytime, have they even watched the show ?

The mom memeification and memeification of Steve has been bad and overhyped and imo also hasn’t served his character well, altho it’s served his popularity. Also the whole thing with making him the best brother and caretaker is annoying when he occasionally babysits them and is a friend to Dustin, which is not the same as Jonathan being parentified and helping to raise Will.

But I like Steve even if he’s not my fave character; he has a charm, if he used to be more layered and isn’t now. I’m loyal to the OG characters and he’s an OG.

~Controversial take~ If anything, the glorification of Eddie is perhaps weirder, as it’s happened so close to the final season. It has also made the audience literally no longer include Jonathan in teen edits or be thought of as one of the teens. He’s been very overhyped and I don’t like new characters overriding any OGs and mains. He’s was a good character and I like Joe Q, but I think people hoping Eddie lived and Max died is ridiculous. It’s also only just dawned on me that because we had “the fruity four” we prob won’t get the four teens as a group in s5, and won’t get the monster hunting trio. So Eddie served as a weird substitute for a lot of things, including development of already existing characters.

But yes, the show both needs to give Steve more layers (not powers!), and balance his screentime so other characters have a shot at being written.

Literally the older teens being protectors to the others is actually so important to me and the characters! Idk Steve gets the rep of being the babysitter but at this point they’re all older siblings and one big family. They just really want to protect the others and I think it’s so nice that they’re actually getting this chance to show it. In season 1 the older teens were mainly off on their own separated but still connected to the others by some threads. In season 2 it was more of Steve being with the kids of default since Nancy and Jonathan were off trying to get justice for Barb. In season 3 I think they did play a protector role but also in the most chaotic/unpredictable way. Now they’re really trying to show how they’ve developed in those roles and are actively doing what they think is best for the kids and having sweet moments with them. I just want a moment for them to realize how much they’ve grown and I think it shows in Nancy’s comment of how they aren’t babies anymore. Like I think she realized it more than ever but since Steve sees himself as a babysitter he still think that they’re young. It’s kind of a unique part but I also think it’s more unique because she has a brother of Mike meanwhile steve kind of just was thrown into being friends/protectors/brother to the party but still ultimately choosing to do so.

Also I love that the teens being the muscle like yes!!!! They so are but I also love how the party is also kind of being thrown into that muscle category!! Especially Dustin with being with Eddie and having to fight!! It’s just yess!! Getting rid of their roles as only brain people is such a good way to not normalize everything!! Them being at the center of fighting along with the teens is honestly so amazing! And I’m glade that they can get rid of just being the brains. Also the teens also being the brains with some of their theories! Like Steve questioning the why when it’s something that Dustin who is the main brain person didn’t think of. Steve and Lucas meeting in the middle to be like yeah this makes no sense. Nancy and Robin putting both of their knowledge and getting into pennhurst! Doing the heavy lifting while also the knowledge part. Using their own experiences to get through to victor when he most likely didn’t tell anyone else about what had happened that night. Honestly Lucas and Dustin taking a step back to realize how much they’ve gone through is so good. Nah legit the og gang going back to that night and realizing how much they’ve gone through would be so amazing. Like they were so young and going back to realize they’ve gone through all this shit to still being treated like losers would be amazing!! They’re so mature and don’t fit in with their peers that it would be an eye opening thing for them like idk it’s so personal. Especially considering that majority of the gang’s trauma hasn’t been addressed since that night. Now all I want is the og group to look at each other and just have fucking tears in their eyes. Like an ‘I can’t believe we came this far’ sad way but also like ‘we had each other the whole time and we need to be on the same page’ way. Like then realizing that even though they’ve gone through life changing shit and that they’ve grown closer but that they also grew apart. Them realizing that their trauma doesn’t define them but also that they need to all have a talk and communicate clearer to one another. Them coming together at the end and really truly becoming a family that no one expected. Lol now I’m getting emotional at what I wrote

the growing and changing of all of their roles within their group is so interesting. like they’ve grown from these kids playing a game of make believe that then become very real but they’re still so young when that occurs that they don’t really process it. but then they shift from “this is just like our game!” to “our game has become our reality” but in a much darker sense as they realize that there is a line between what is real and what is fictional, unfortunately for them they don’t get to live in the same ignorant bliss as everyone around them. and they know that things that aren’t supposed to be real are indeed real, and they’re out for blood.

Soooo decided to watch stranger things (binge watch actually) and here is my commentary that no one asked for :

El: This character needs something that is less centered on her power and more of her traumas. I mean okay her power are important. But she's also a girl who loves her father, math, her friends, max and trying new things. Who tries to look at the positive side. Also I don't love how they portrayed her relationship with the others. Like how everytime Dustin or Nancy or Steve talk about her she's just the girl with the "superhero" power. Not Jane our friend. Or smt else. And her relationship with Mike was doomed since season 1. Like she always loved Mike as a friend, her first, while he was attracted to her ... Supernatural? Did he ever show an actual once of love towards her, her hobbies, her body.... Also give us emo El back. Hate her brown/ boring style. It's not her.

Joyce : she is definitely a hidden genius and I feel people do not recognize it. She was one of the first to find clues, and to actually search for them. And a lovely mom even tho she's quite.... The mess

Murray: I love him. That's all I have to say. Best character ever written in the history of chaos.

Hopper: He is one of the best character and the only "safe" one. But he needs to check his temper. Or try a different coping mechanism. Or have more social skills

Robin: cool character, not my fave but love the friendship we got with Steve. Feel like the fandom is too focused on her sexuality ( Wich I love the representation) to actually see her as she is. Which is a geek. Actual courageous. Where are her parents?

Max: she's a badass but has the emotional range of a spoon. Really beautiful. Good taste in music. Love the depth of her character. Once again a shared trauma. (The show should have called "Why therapy when you can upside down ?") Does she skate still ? The fact that their is no scene of her and El in a skate arena is surprising. For real.

Lucas: one of the few rational character of the show. Loved his septic persona. Season 4 (at least half of it) was not his best. Again, feel like his character is quite simple . But it's good. His best friend is Dustin.

Dustin: cutest motherfucker in the show. Love his randomness. Love that his personality is not based on his love life (unlike a lot of male characters) If he weren't their they would have died the first season. The actual leader of the gang.

Steve: love the sarcasm. Again overlooked role. He goes way over being the mom/babysitter cause he actually cares for the kids safety. Actually not depressed or traumatized by the events (which is weird) parents...are MIA ? Should not end up with Nancy in season 5 ( I think he should move on or not actively search for a gf every five seconds)

Mike: a mess since season five. Has a surge of leadership/ rationality than goes back to being a vegetable. Get jealous easily...(perks of being the middle child ?) Needs to seriously think about his relationship with everyone. And learn respect. I don't believe he'll end up with Will because I think he needs to work on himself before trying anything with anyone. Fix also his obsession with El. Making out all summer (every Day) is NOT normal.

Will: really needs a hug, and a wake up call. His place in the OG d and d club is invisible. Love his art focused character. Again, his sexuality is NOT his personality. Should focus on himself and finding a new goal. Being overly controlled by everyone is not a good thing, even if you have been in hell. Most action seen in season 3, waits for more in season 5.

Nancy: the epitome of good girl Gone Bad. Or tried to. Anyway girl boss all the way. GIRL CRUSH too. But need to stop being self-centered. But than again am the same so.

Jonathan : he's as cowardly as a cow when it comes to his feeling. Didn't felt him in season 4, unlike season 1 2 where he actually did smt. Also, doing weed is not going to help you fixe your Relationship and esteem problem.

Anyway that's for now. Need to finish season 4.
