I was watching the episode where Lloyd ages up and guys-

Like. This is probably the only kids show that I have seen that teaches about how maturing too early can lead to severe mental health consequences. How missing out on your childhood is devastating.

But the fact that the ninja were more upset about it than Wu was…it must have hit especially hard to them since with their parental situations they probably had to grow up too early too. They didnt want their baby brother to have to go through what they did.

Would you like to enter Prime Empire?

I made these sprites in the style of the Prime Empire portraits that show up momentarily in S12 E12, but only Jay, Nya and Lloyd are shown in this style in the show. I absolutely loved this pixel style, and thought all the ninja deserved to be in this style, plus Kai and Jay’s custom avatars! i know tlnm is non canon but i wanna talk about how they actually give the best explanation for lloyds element, that we actually never really got told straight up throughout .. all of the series? actually?

like in the show we know the green ninja is ultimately the most powerful, the teams leader, the one that brings all elements together, yadda yadda.. but we don’t actually know why it’s . green. like. why are we the green ninja? why are we green? what is this mountain dew power exploding out ur palms?

but the movie hits the nail on the head.

the ending scene really sums it up. and it’s such a beautiful scene. i’ve actually memorised his monologue,,ahem,, allow me

“green is the colour of life. it flows through all living things, connecting them all. just like I..connect the ninjas.”

it’s so ..to the point? it’s so simple. but that is his element. life. vitality. growth. he allows all of the other elements to flow, and live and thrive by connecting his team together. and this is apparent in the shows canon, especially as lloyd grows older. it’s such a random one off line from the movie but it means so so much to me.. such a defining moment for lloyd as a character i fear.

So, I had a dumb au idea:

The AU is basically: Morro gets adopted by the Smiths (instead of dying)

When their parents disappear, Morro is the one to raise Kai and Nya. It's easier for him than it would've been for Kai, because Morro's a full grown adult with a stable job.

When the events of the pilot happen, he's the one who gets taken because he's not going to let his siblings get hurt, and he accidentally befriends Garmadon, who asks him to take care of Lloyd.

He adopts Harumi after the Great Devourer incident (it's a coping mechanism for accidentally letting her parents die 😔)

I'm working on a fic for this au right now (not posted yet) but here's some silly doodles:

You know, I've been thinking a lot about the Lloyd and Arin/Wu and Morro parallels lately, and I can't decide which outcome of that is more gut wrenching.

Arin running away like Morro did and Lloyd not chasing after him (therefore repeating the same sins as his mentor, one of the things he fears the most) or Arin running away, Lloyd following after him, and not being able to bring him back home (he failed his student and even once he realized and tried to help, it was too late).

"Wu doesn't care about his students or Pixal" mfs when I make them watch anything past season 10: (they realize that Wu has grown and changed over the series and that the way the ninja raised him in s9 really reshaped him as a person and hes since been there for his students and he weeps and mourns for them)

Everyday i pray that they give more interests to Pixal and Nya that isn’t engineering, like caring for water life or enjoying video game and designing stuff.

And everyday i pray they bring back Jay’s old interests like how he LIKED POETRY.

Evil Jay but its him sounding like Shakespeare explaining every evil plan he has.

I desperately needed some fluff so I drew Jay with a Blitzle! Idk what it is about Blitzle specifically out of all the electric type Pokémon that screams Jay to me but it does and it’s very important to me that you know that

Rewatching the earlier, and even pilots episodes, of Ninjago are so WILD man. First of all, you notice all the things that are just plain forgotten about or pushed aside in later seasons. Kai originally being the main character, sure, we all know that one, but Cole was heavily implied to be, or become, the leader of the Ninja, that was Cole’s thing. Zane was automatically described with having a sixth seer sense, when nowadays it shows up very, very infrequently. Lloyd used to basically be the Avatar, does anyone remember that? This kid was just the Avatar.

And then you remember the silly things. Like how the skeleton army was once a threat. Like...the skeletons. We battled a giant snake, smaller snakes, robot armies, sentient video games, Garmadon a billion different times, the Overlord, Oni...and the skeletons used to be a worthy adversary. The skeletons.

Did you all remember that Cole’s earth dragon used to...breathe earth? I’ve been forced to remember. Rocky used to breathe earth as a form of attack. It was shown through brown swirly wisps in that beautiful, incredibly shitty 2011 effect. The Underworld used to be implied to be the place where all dead people went, or at least the bad ones. We never heard of a Departed Realm. Do we remember the time Cole had a scene that was a direct parody of Michael Jackson? I sure do. Genuinely the highlight simply because I don’t know how to describe the emotion I felt upon seeing it.
