I’ve been getting back into drawing stuff for Rhythm Doctor again because of the Act 5 hype, so here’s a silly comic based on Mic Check by ReneeDekobora2042!! It was one of the first RD fics I read when I first got into the fandom, and probably one of the best (definitely up there with Clipboard Notes, victor if you’re seeing this hi LOL) so I thought it would be nice to make a short comic of one of my favorite parts. More ramblings & bonus doodles under the cut :]

I started working on this about a month an a half ago, and initially I just wanted to work on this as a small silly wacky fanart project that was supposed to look more like this

So like every sane artist I decided to make it harder for myself

Also some unused sketches based on the Rollerdisco Rumble Reprise custom level by Kabii!

These were my favorite panels during the sketching phase but I had to change the last couple panels to reference 2-3N instead because it made more sense timeline wise. Might render these someday tho because I'm still attached to them lmao

i paint because a witch has cursed me to, if i don't i am tormented until i put stylus to tablet. this is a really dramatic way to start off a post with 'joy' in the title but anyone who knows me knows i say it all the time.

anyway i want to talk about the fun things this in process:

getting inspired people in completely different????? and then getting to laugh with myself about it. 

j cole re: the off season (i think?) and the dreamville doc like i look at him and im like i cannot wait to have my own little 'the secret recipe' but if we wanna talk BISNISS it's -

schoolboy q's work - every time i listen to one of his songs or watch one of his videos i hope that one day my paintings could be as fire his like i want people to look at something i mae and feel liek they are activating and dusting off parts in their brain and soul that hadn't been connected to before.

kobe bryant's work ethic... what can i say except wow. so from like 3 to 5 hes already awake and jogging, then after that he goes to work out in the morning BEFORE PRACTICE???? then his coworkers show up for practice nad theyre liek what the fuck how he always here before us?? then after practice i cannot remember what he does but allegedly he was going to work out some more. idk this is all alleged im not going to go out and watch him all day. so i draw nearly every day. i paint nearly every day. if im not making im looking at it. but most of the time im making it.

traditional and digital artists:

watching digital artist's and learning from them (ex: michulrichdraws, sermna who i recently just did a study on with their OC horror stuff, rozenkranz-does-things, ratajota, 8pxl, frannie, [dude who i can never find but draws a lot lot of dragons like individual scales possibly by hand? then colors it in digitally in usually nice gradients])

i have friends who also are artists but i dont feel like complimenting them right now so shout out to bifi. ifi can find aleks and junes @'s one day i'll throw them here.

having a moment and accidentally writing an essay wow its great to be able to paint and be good at it and make lovely stuff like idk guys isn't it kind of sweet that we exist in a way that can jsut create beautiful things around us and share it with each other? anyway im done being sappy.

**clasps hands together** it's time... to return the favor. i would love it so much if you drew cole and kai being absolutely adorable together, flirting and stuff and trying to one-up each other like "no ur cuter" "no u" because idk i'm just really feeling lavashipping recently. you don't have to!! but i would absolutely adore it! :D

Uhh Kai’s shirt is a reference from the musical The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals and Cole is wearing a Les Miz hoodie because thiS BOY LOVES LES MIZ!

For the “I love you more” aspect, I couldn’t think of something super cute, so I decided to go with lyrics from the song A Thousand and One Nights from the starkid musical Twisted! I wanted Cole to be singing the first line, but I had already drawn the picture when I decided to use that and it would’ve looked weird because Cole is on the right, but ya know! Also it’s part of the “I love you more” aspect because Kai was singing to Cole and earth babe interrupts him and finishes!

(also they’re both pulling each other in which is why they’re not super close together... because they’re like come here babe)

I hope you like it!!! Sorry it’s not liek the best, but it was fun to draw! Colored pencils drawing requests are always open! I’m trying to improve my drawing because it greatly relaxes me and I find it fun so I’ll do almost anything! (P.S. this drawing is on the back of a theater paper since I drew it during school✌🏼)
