Random thoughts about Dead Friend Forever ep 8:

I was waiting for this episode and I wasn't disappointed. It was a crazy ride again. So many things happened but the series never drag any plots too long. It makes perfectly sense.

Let's just start with the fact that this group of friends are the worst ever. They are all terrible in their own ways. It's infuriated to see them get away with their actions.

▪️ We start with Teacher Keng or should I say Cop Keng who tries to get into Tee's Uncle lair. I don't know why he thought it was a good idea because he wasn't very discrete and anyone with common sense would be able to see he's snooping around. Uncle's minions are not dumb and they chased him. He tried to escape while a car was coming and we got a cut right at this moment, but there are only two options: either he was knocked over to kill him or take him away. The series allows doubt to linger.

▪️ Non is having a really hard time. His video is still trending online and his parents are fighting because of it. He witnessed everything and it's taking a toll on him. This poor kid is really unlucky. He feels alone and on the brink of madness. His anxiety must not help in this situation and he has no one to talk to. The teacher don't answer him (because of obvious reasons). He is left alone with his thoughts unable to find a way out He is angry and desperate. I felt so sad for him. It was very hard to watch. He tried to call Jin also but I guess he was blocked because he never got an answer. Non wants revenge and frankly he deserves it because all these terrible things happening to him came from the shitty group of friends who used and abused him. When they called him to play again the role of the murderer for their stupid short movie, I hoped he would wreck them but in the end he was stopped by Jin (and also whatever drugs Tee put in his drink). We have no idea what happened to him after this event and that's the scariest part. He may be alive or dead... and the fact we don't know is part of the horror.

▪️ So Top and Por stayed nasty through all the episode. Their disdain for Non is blatant. He is exploited at will and they never ashamed of using him for whatever they want. Por didn't hesitated to pretend he was the screenwriter when Non disappeared to feed his little ego. He doesn't care about what happened to him. As long as he got what he wanted: his two minutes of fame and his short movie. Top is quite the same in his own way. He wanted to star in a movie and he got it, whatever it takes.

▪️ I found interesting how Fluke is always trying to stay on the sideline. It's never his fault, he never was there and he did nothing. He has always been a coward. He is always finding excuses to justify his actions. In some ways, I found him worst than Por or Tor. At least, those guys show their true color in broad day light while Fluke will pretend he is a good guy.

▪️ Tee is a different kind of villain. He is torn between what he needs to do for his uncle and his consciousness. At first, when he tried to be nice to Non I admit I got fooled. He acted like he was when he is with White. However, it was just pretending because he just wanted to carry his Uncle’s wishes. He drugged him and brought Non to him. Since then, he never got any news from him. If Por and Top never questioned Non’s disappearance, Tee was trying to know if he is still alive or not. Of course, no one gave him the truth. His Uncle pretended Non really did leave with Keng but it sounded false. I guess Tee could feel it. He may not be entirely bad but he didn’t hesitate to save his life by bringing Non to his Uncle. Also, he only got 20,000 baht for this job which means Non’s life is just worth 500 euros. Sad…

▪️ Obliviously, in this group, Jin is the most affected by Non’s disappearance. He felt guilty because of the leaked video and he also tried to apologize to Non (even if he didn’t tell for what). Jin has become withdrawn since Non is not here anymore. You can see how he distanced himself from everything. I think he really cares about Non but he wasn’t brave enough to really stand for him and help him. I felt betrayed again during the police’s interview when he pretended Non wasn’t there during the shooting of the movie. They all tried to cover up the truth. I was expecting it from all of them and I knew Jin would also do it, because otherwise we wouldn’t talk about it in the present, but I still felt let down by his action. Deep down, I want him to redeem himself. Probably, because he is linked to Phee now and I wish Phee didn’t only get with him to have his revenge. I want them to have genuine feelings for each others. Some moments in the present time make me believe in their relationship. It can’t be only fake. Phee seemed to genuinely want to protect Jin…

▪️ Of course I need to talk about Phee. When he learned about Non’s disappearance he tried to use every means possible to know the truth but he never got the answers he wanted. Keng is not here anymore, Non doesn’t answer the phone and his dad was withdrawn from the investigation. However, Phee know about the shitty group of friends and their short movie. He went to the premiere and saw all of them. I guess it is when he decided to act. Does he only want answers about what happened to Non or does he want to get revenge? We don’t know yet but I’m eager to learn the truth. At the premiere, he didn’t came alone and we don’t know with who he was. Is it Tan? Is Tan, Non’s brother? If it’s the case, why is he called Tan? In the preview for next episode, we’ll still be in the past and we’ll see how Tan and Phee became friends with the rest of the group. We haven’t seen White yet and I want to know how he joined the group too.

They are so many things to say and debate about this episode. I really want to be next week to learn more. Dead Friend Forever is a real gem at the moment.

The solar flare meant Mechi was doing boring stuff like mining, so every time the cooldown for The Monolith or Ms Clarabelle (our sightstealer) was up, he sprinted to do that instead. I don't think he likes manual labour lmao

Some wild people came onto the map, which Mechi was not thrilled about because one of them was a taukai xenotype (cancer people, I think), and he thought they were hella ugly. A bit rude, but Mechi hates everybody anyway, so it's understandable.

The grass is quite literally greener on this side of the fence, boomalope (the boomalope is now named Butter, and he is a very good boomalope)

More silver is always nice, and foggy rain isn't so bad.

didn't Ron chernow basically disprove the idea that Hamilton was referring to that savius when calling burr that?

I’m assuming this is what you’re referring to. Now, Chernow did mention the nickname but he didn’t really disprove anything. I mentioned this in the comments of the original post as well but Chernow basically claims that three classicists just “convinced” him that Hamilton wasn’t referring to that Savius. But who else could he be referring to then? Besides, we see in the same letter Hamilton spelling “Scaevola” as “Scavola” (referring either to Quintus Mucius Scaevola Augur or Gaius Mucius Scaevola, personally I think it’s the latter since GMS was a man renowned for his bravery and valour and we see him connected to G. Washington). So it would make sense for Hamilton to spell Saevius Plautus as Savius. Aside from that, Chernow doesn’t say what the classicists said to dissuade him and we’ve seen time and time again Chernow pretty much defending Hamilton regarding most things so I wouldn’t really be surprised if he’s doing that again here. And there really isn’t anyone else that I can think of with the name Savius or Saevius except for Plautus Saevius.

Hamilton John Doe (2007)

January 09, 2023

On April 7, 2007, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the skull of an unidentified man was noticed by some neighbours at the end of their driveway. At first, one neighbour believed the skull was an animals. Not thinking anything of it, another neighbour kicked the skull across the road where it went into a ditch. 

On April 9, 2007, at 6:30 pm, a Glanbrook resident was walking their dog on Glancaster Road when they saw an object in the ditch just off the west side of the road. The individual looked closer and saw what appeared to look like a human skull. A forensic anthropologist was eventually called who came to help identify the skull. 

On April 18, around 10am, the Hamilton Police searched the area for any clues that could be related to the skull found, calling on the Ground Search and Rescue Team as well as cadaver dogs and volunteers in the community. 

One hour into the search, cadaver dogs found additional human remains near the intersection of Glancaster Road and Fiddlers Green Road in a forested area in the community of Mount Hope.

An autopsy revealed that the additional remains belonged to the skull that was first found. The date of death was estimated to be the Summer of Fall of 2006. However, it is possible the death occurred as early as Fall of 2005 or Spring of 2006. Foul play was not suspected. 

DNA was extracted from the femur of the remains however police have been unable to match this individual to similar missing persons cases. 

Hamilton John Doe has been described as having grey/white hair, 2-3 inches in length, likely wearing an upper full denture and possibly a lower partial denture. The man’s teeth were poorly cared for and he had no upper teeth, likely for many years before his death as the sockets had been healed. 

Hamilton John Doe had 6 teeth present, one canine and two premolar teeth on each side of the lower jaw. He had a chronic abscess on both the right and left teeth, no fillings and had untreated cavities. 

The John Doe had blue denim “Wrangler” brand jeans that were a size 34x34, a “Fitrite” brand shirt in a size large, blue denim “Kinswood” brand, long-sleeved button down shirt, size large, a black belt, white “Fruit of the Loom” brand underwear, white left running shoe in a size 9 and a half, a blue face “U.S. Army” brand wristwatch that was silver, water resistant worn on his left wrist. 

He also had a silver folding knife in a black sheath attached to the belt, with a 7.6 cm blade, and a stainless steel, black handle. The wristwatch has been available since 2003 and is believed to have cost between $300-$450 at the time. 

The man also had a “Bic” brand lighter, chrome “Zebra” brand pen, “Trim” brand nail clippers, a pack of chewing gum, and $12.99, with one discoloured coin of unknown denomination. 

Hamilton John Doe is a white male estimated to be between 40-65 years old at the time of his death, but likely 50-65 years old, between 5′6-6′ feet tall with other sources saying between 5′7-6′1 feet tall, and his cause of death is currently unknown.
