Maybe unpopular but as someone who reads a ton of Jegulus, one of my favourite things about them is the way they're always just a small nothing in the grand scheme of things; they're going to die and be forgotten eventually just like everyone else.
But they still manage to make it magical, beautiful, and meaningful regardless. They get all of this beautiful symbolism and these deep mythological/literary references but they'll still fade into a speck in the universe at the end of it all. Just a tiny moment of existence.
Especially regarding the Jegulus love story and the black brothers reconnecting and understanding each other; the growth they get to experience is so beautiful and emotional to read but it's also just...human?
It kind of gives hope. If they get to live such a small existence and make it magnificent, why would there be anything scary about it happening to us?

how much do you want to bet that these flowers will be placed on one of her brother’s graves in the end
and what if, instead of a bunch of pink ones, there are dozens of pure white ones

So I've been wondering about one particuar point on the "Jiang Cheng marriage recquirement" list and it's the one about low cultivation.
Now on its face, except for the "must be nice to jin ling" point, the whole thing just looks like the most standard list of "ideal wife characteristics under a patriarchal society." naturally beautiful, graceful and obedient, coming from a good family, voice not too loud, etc. This leads to either the interpretation that jiang cheng really wants that (doubt dot png) or just... put all the most stereotypical things on a list even though that's not what he really wants.
In that context "cultivation must not be too high" sounds like a typical "men are scared of women who are smarter/stronger" thing. you know, the dudes who feel 'intimidated' when their wife or girlfriend makes more money than them.
...Except wasn't Yanli openly mocked for her low cultivation? Like, wasn't one of the reasons Jin Zixuan was such an ass to her initially because he shallowly assumed her lower cultivation made her an unworthy marriage candidate? Jin Guangshan may hate women who can read but society overal doesn't give the impression that high cultivation in women is seen as something undesirable. I mean... a wife that never looks like she's over 20 even as she starts aging? yeah I have no problem believing a misogynistic society is okay with high cultivation.
So if it's not there just to fit the stereotypical standard of an ideal wife...
Jiang Cheng, are you just describing your sister?
LIke?? Every single point on this list applies to Yanli. All of them. I don't mean this in a freudian incest-y way but in a "jiang cheng are you so unaware of what you want in a partner you just took the only woman you've had an unambiguously good relationship with and hoped no one would notice???" way. Does he know the difference in what you should like about your sister and what you should like in a spouse? Is he even aware he's doing this? Jiang Cheng answer meeeee.

thinking about the fma cast having kids is good for a number of reasons but reason number one is definitely that roy and riza have one perfect beautiful child in their late late 30s after like ten years of agonizing and by the time they finally do this ed and winry have like. five kids. six even. profound number of kids. and ed has sooooooooooo much sincerely good parenting advice to give. i think this would be a very funny thing to happen to roy.

i'm reading "dostoevskij and parricide" by freud because unfortunately it's in my brothers karamazov edition and i must say, if based on what i studied in high school about him i thought he was just a person who was trying to find some logic about the topic of the human psyche but unfortunately arrived to some deeply unpleasant conclusions that were subsequently disproven (kind of a la greek philosophy), now i have the unwavering opinion that he was a callous man, and not even a very intelligent one.
one of the themes of brothers karamazov is that people are complex, they contain both the abyss of abjection and the highs of virtue at the same time. that doesn't make you either a virtuous person or a evil one. and yet freud opens this essay (essay written for an edition of brothers karamazov) by stating that since dostoevskij wrote about "people with violent tendencies" then he himself must have been a evil individual, and therefore all the (documented) love he had for other people must be fake and simulated, and of course, "symptom of neurosis".
another theme of the book is how doctors don't really know what they're doing at best, or at worst make everything worse by ignoring facts that disprove their preconceived diagnosis. and what does freud do? he talks about dostoevskij's epilepsy (which to me is extremely absurd because how are you even trying to diagnose a person you don't know 50 years after he died), which is promptly described as another symptom of neurosis because it doesn't follow the "official symptomatology", so it's not physiological but hysterical, and it must derive from some sort of altered sexual flux (because OF COURSE it does). it doesn't matter to freud that biographical data disproves his theory of "dostoevskij's illness only relapsed during periods of emotional stress", and it doesn't even occur to him that maybe dostoevskij had an atypical epilepsy, or that freud's "symptomatology" was incorrect or lacking, or that maybe he had a totally different illness but there still wasn't a name for it so he went for the closest one. no, all this doesn't even cross this guy's mind, because he's right and the patient is always wrong. he actively dismisses everything that contradicts his premade theory with a "the patient is neurotic and can't be trusted with anything he says. also people with mental disorders are always idiots and dostoevskij wasn't an idiot so he must be hysterical".
what's really laughable (read: tragic) about this is that dostoevskij wrote a WHOLE chapter about how you can't trust psychiatrists because they will diagnose you with kookoocrazy disorder just because you looked the wrong way in their opinion, not to mention all the other ways doctors outright don't care about patients, not to mention the absolutely respectful and loving way he talked about mentally ill people, and freud wrote a whole ass essay about taking pride in acting in that same reprehensible way. an essay that was meant to be published with the book. unbelievable. tone deaf, arrogant, callous and extremely stupid too.

the thing about emu is that her life is super fucking wild and absurd shit is always just happening to her but because she’s so used to it and so full of whimsy she never acknowledges it. And so fans never acknowledge it either. Emu canonically has priceless paintings just hanging around in her house (in universe equivalent of fucking monet’s water lilies and van gough’s sunflowers iirc) and her family is Super Mega Owns A Theme Park And Airline rich and she has the ability to climb everywhere. She has personal body guards that have to wear goofy mascot costumes but are always prepared to die for her despite her not being in danger. Truly taking after her grandpa. Strange fucking creature. I love her.
