I had a very odd dream where a train (or bus?) I was on got yanked into another world. While my dream had nothing to do with SVSSS, it did have my waking self thinking about how hilarious and/or horrifying such a thing could be as an AU.

Imagine Shen Yuan riding the subway, train or bus one day, when something happens and his whole car gets yanked into the world of PIDW. Nobody else in the car knows anything about PIDW, so Shen Yuan finds himself with the self imposed task of keeping this eccentric group of strangers alive in a weird world full of demons, monsters, and aphrodisiac plants.

The group’s first assumption would probably be that they’re still on modern earth, and just got teleported somewhere. Their second assumption, if they come across common folk, might be they somehow ended up in the past.

Then they run into some monster, or people riding on swords with specific uniforms, or a commoner mentions a name or event only Shen Yuan recognizes. The rest of the party debates what sort of Xianxia or Wuxia world they’ve ended up in, while poor Shen Yuan sweats bullets. He knows exactly what world they are in, and they are so screwed.

I have this image of poor beleaguered nerd Shen Yuan successfully protecting and leading this group of primary school kids, their cute teacher, and a handful of grannies and grandpas, while all the other adults and older teens keep wandering off and getting themselves in trouble.

Development of the meridian theoryĪccording to the ancient literature of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is hypothesized the meridian theory developed in the following ways: Physiological hypotheses such as nervous reflex models have been put forward, but researchers have not yet come up with a definitive model that can give a complete anatomical description of the Meridian System. Many meridian research projects have been carried out over the years testing different hypotheses of how this system works. Meridians are not blood vesselsĪlthough meridians work as a channel system which carries and distributes qi and blood, they are not blood vessels and have no anatomical channel structure. Both Jing and Luo mean link or connection, and they are bound closely together to form channels. Luo means network and refers to the networks that branch off from the vertical channels (Jing). Jing means to pass through or pathway and refers to the vertical channels. Those which branch off horizontally are luo meridians. These concepts date back several thousand years and are reflected in the ancient Chinese medical text, Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine), which says: Jing meridians act as the interior. “Jing luo”, the Chinese term for meridian has two interesting concepts which make up the basic structural components of the Meridian System. Philosophically, the Meridian System explains how we live, and why we become sick. Its pathways make up a comprehensive yet complex body map that supplies vital energy to every part of the body. The Qi distribution network called the Meridian System looks like a giant web, linking different areas of our body together. Inaugurated by Bernhard Böschenstein and Heino Schmull, and carried over into English by poet and translator Pierre Joris, Celan's celebration of the uncanny and transitory appears along with its several early versions and with a range of source materials that make up a poetic collage, an implicit epic, in their own right. Now, in this remarkable work of scholarship, a still greater body of poetics and poesis comes to light. To those for whom he has served as a guide or beacon, his Meridian speech from 1960 remains his most telling testament to the powers and problematics of poetry and art. "Over the last half century Paul Celan has emerged as the iconic poet of the postwar/post-Holocaust period-for some of us the greatest German-language poet of the twentieth century as a whole. The volume represents an important step in 'naturalizing' Celan into the English language and (almost) opening his creative process and universe to non-native speakers of German." In minute detail it traces the origins and evolution of Celan's Meridian speech for an Anglophone readership, thus making Celan's text as close as possible to an 'original' work in a language other than the one in which it was conceived and published. "This translation of a critical edition represents, as Joris himself notes, an epic work. Much more than a personal statement or occasional piece, it is a meditation on the state of poetry and art in general and a rigorous attempt to account for what poetry is, can, and must be after the Holocaust.
