Cecily’s return to the Is after so long is due to a mission from the Fingerking Conclave she works under - specifically, she’s been possessed by the Conclave’s youngest born snakelet, and is tasked with showing it the other side of the glass. However the Newborn Marquis is not exactly powerful enough to properly possess Cecily’s body - far from it, in fact. So she’s mostly just bodyguarding a child-snake in her brain.

【Histoty Note】Late Warring States Period·Noble Women Fashion
The attire of noblewomen in the late Warring States period, as reconstructed in this collection, is based on a comprehensive examination of garments and textiles unearthed from the Chu Tomb No. 1 at Mashan, Jiangling, as well as other artifacts from the same period.
During the late Warring States period, both noble men and women favored wearing robes that were connected from top to bottom. These garments were predominantly made of gauze, silk, brocade, and satin, with silk edging. From the Chu Tomb No. 1 at Mashan, there were discoveries of robes entirely embroidered or embroidered fragments. The embroidery technique employed was known as "locked stitches," which gave the patterns a three-dimensional, lively appearance, rich in decoration.
The two reconstructed robes in this collection consist of an inner robe made of plain silk with striped silk edging, and an outer robe made of brocade, embroidered with phoenixes and floral patterns, with embroidered satin edging. Following the structural design of clothing found in the Mashan Chu Tomb, rectangular fabric pieces were inserted at the junction of the main body, sleeves, and lower garment of the robe. Additionally, an overlap was made at the front of the main body and the lower garment to enlarge the internal space for better wrapping around the body curves. Furthermore, the waistline of the lower garment was not horizontal but inclined upward at an angle, allowing the lower hem to naturally overlap, forming an "enter" shape, facilitating movement.
The layered edging of the collars and sleeves of both inner and outer robes creates a sense of rhythm, with the two types of brocade patterns complementing each other, resulting in a harmonious effect. Apart from the robes, a wide brocade belt was worn around the waist, fastened with jade buckle hooks, and adorned with jade pendants, presenting an elegant and noble figure.
The reconstructed hairstyle draws inspiration from artifacts such as the jade dancer from the late Warring States period unearthed at the Marquis of Haihun Tomb in Nanchang, and the jade dancer from the Warring States period unearthed at Jin Village in Luoyang. It features a fan-shaped voluminous hairdo on the crown, with curled hair falling on both sides, and braided hair gathered at the back. The Book of Songs, "Xiao Ya: Duren Shi," vividly depicts the flowing curls of noblewomen during that period. Their images of curly-haired figures in long robes were also depicted in jade artifacts and other relics, becoming emblematic artistic representations.
The maturity and richness of clothing art in the late Warring States period were unparalleled in contemporary world civilizations, far beyond imagination. It witnessed the transition of Chinese civilization into the Middle Ages. The creatively styled garments and intricate fabric patterns from the Warring States period carry the unique essence, mysterious imagination, and ultimate romanticism of that era, serving as an endless source of artistic inspiration.

Coronis had always wanted to come to Wrath. To visit. Wrath was a wilderness with a capital W. The desert that stretched off into the horizon, it's many suns and volcanoes, and it's people...wily, strong, and with quickfire tempers. She had seen it replicated on TV, with adventures in the lawless lands, cowboys and the like.
Well this was an example of; be careful what you wish for.
The transport going through the desert likely boasted some stunning views, but Coronis wasn't seeing any of them. She felt out of place, paralyzed with terror. Her high-society gown was completely unsuitable to the rough terrain, and every time the vehicle jostled over the rough robe, she felt her breathe catch and her pulse quicken.
Andrealphus looked unconcerned. Why should he? He wasn't the one about to become a meal.
"You're so overdramatic. It could always be worse." That was what he said. That was the fucking audacity the Marquis had when Coronis was strong-armed to the ground, hands and feet tied and the horrors explained. "You will be remembered as an exalted martyr, and spare the family a terrible fate. What more could a noble want, really?"
To live, goddammit! To actually live, and not get eaten by a fucking snake-god!!!
Cori had tried to protest. But apparently such attempts at mercy were unpalatable to the ears of her brother and her fated executioner. A simple gesture was all that was needed to tape her beak shut, unable to make a peep aside from muffled whimpers and cries. She wasn't even given the courtesy of knowing what she was being sacrificed for.
The convoy stopped outside of a volcano. A lone cave awaited, with a rough looking imp in a robe bearing a serpent with terrifying eyes. He looked displeased to see the Marquis and Coronis, but nonetheless gestured to a lone minecart. "This will take her right down." He explained gruffly. "Beware Goetia. The Great Destroyer does not take pleasure in meager offerings."
"Rest assured, my heart breaks to see her go-" Andrealphus had said with a long-suffering moan, wrapping an arm around Cori's shoulders, even as she wriggled to break free. "-and I will mourn her passing every day for as long as I live."
A very scripted, very insincere answer. The imp must have sensed it...but didn't question it. "Right. Down she goes."
Andrealphus had brought two large hellhounds for security...and a sack. Coronis fought to break free as hard as she could, but she was being wrangled in with the ease of manhandling a baby chick. The Marquis gave her a last long look.
"I will miss you, you know." He said. Trying for once, to actually sound as if he meant it. "There will never be a soul as easy and soft as you."
Don't! Don't! Coronis begged with all her might, trying to plead with her eyes. Please, please, I don't want to die!!
But as she was dropped into the minecart, everything went very dark. There was a moment's stillness, and then a jolt as the cart went sailing, the sound of the wind whipping past and a heavy dip-
And Coronis entered Wrath's underworld.
______
C'mon, c'mon! Get these stupid things offa me!
The cart whistled down the track at speeds Coronis could only imagine. But within the sack she was trapped it, she pushed her arms around her back legs as far as they would reach until they were capable of being severed by her talons...as fast as she could anyway. It was slow work, and each second felt like it was passing at breakneck speeds.
I-I have to get out! I'll be killed if I don't get out! What would happen should she escape the sack, much less the cart, she had no idea. Run away and join a rodeo? Become an itinerant wanderer in the desert? Turn into a cave dweller?! That could all wait until the ropes-
Snap.
To her great relief, her hands were freed. She tugged and tore at the ropes binding her feet, then clawed at the tape that kept her beak shut, shredding it off. "I gotta get outta here!"
CLANG!
The cart stopped so short that the sack...and all it's contents, rolled out. Coronis yelped in surprise and pain, bruised by the rough landing. She frantically felt for the opening, pulling it open as fast as she could-
Only to wish she had stayed in the sack.

In ancient Chinese culture, pearls were used in artwork, folktales, and charms to represent wishes, fortunes, gratitude, and even the moon:
Marquis of Sui’s Pearl, a gemstone in a folktale dating back to the Warring States period (475-221 BCE), is given to a leader, Sui, from an injured snake that he nurses back to health, as a symbol of gratitude.
In Hindu and Buddhist traditions, The Chintamani (equivalent to the importance of The Philosopher’s Stone in alchemy) is known as a wish-fulfilling jewel that is sometimes depicted as a pearl.
In Chinese artwork, dragons may be seen holding or playing with a “flaming pearl” – in this context, some believe the pearl may be representative of an object of great value that enhances the benign dragon who treasures it”, however it is more commonly (especially in Westerners) believed to be a cosmological symbol of the moon – in fact, there is an ancient belief that full moons are solid pearls, while new moons are hollow pearls.
In holistic circles, pearl powder is also known to help you with longevity, beauty, bone-health, among many other (non-FDA approved) benefits – and in Ayurvedic medicine, pearl is said to be an antidote for poison, and it was also used in love potions.
Knowing the traditional symbolism of pearls in Chinese and Eastern cultures, as well as its (supposed) medical benefits and Ayurvedic uses, we can create our own Correspondences for Utilizing Pearls in Witchcraft:
The Moon
The inner/subconscious-self
Wishes
Gratitude
Abundance
Love
Beauty
Longevity, good health
Pisces, cancer
Hidden knowledge
Uses for pearls (or pearl powder) in modern witchcraft:
Use pearl powder as highlighter in makeup for an easy glamor-spell
Mix with salt and other herbs associated with abundance to make “money-salt” for money spells
Add whole pearls or sprinkle pearl powder in your money bowl
Blow pearl powder onto your front door at the beginning of each month to bring abundance to your home
Write down a secret or something you want to get off your chest, and bury it with a pearl to keep it ‘hidden away’ from others
Make a wish with a pearl by leaving it out in a rainstorm, or dropping it into a natural body of water (pond, lake, etc).
Offerings to sea-related or beauty-realted deities
Tumblr media
Fun pearl facts:
Genuine pearls (and pearl powder) doesn’t burn! Pearls may discolor, but they shouldn’t go up in flames.
Pearls are made as oysters try to protect themselves from irritants or parasites – they add layers and layers of this ‘pearl’ coating to intruders, and viola!
Pearls are the only gemstone that come from a living creature
Pearls come in many colors
Pearls are obtained from oyster farming – which is actually beneficial to the environment! Additionally, pearls can be harvested without killing oysters.
Be careful when shopping for pearls – many places do not sell genuine pearls and they may be fake. Use caution when looking to purchase!

Beyond Duty
(((Thread for @lady-phenix , in which Striker is a captain serving the Ars Goetia, Royal Captain AU.)))
Handpicked by King Paimon of the Ars Goetia, Captain Striker was tasked with a role of significant prestige, albeit one he privately deemed somewhat degrading: serving as the captain of the guards for the Marquis Andras and his wife, Lady Phenix, daughter of King Paimon.
Despite his personal reservations, Striker knew better than to voice his disdain.
To be chosen for such a role was an honor, King Paimon had assured him, but the prospect of, well, babysitting two nobles left a bitter taste in his mouth.
He should be either on the battlefield or on the streets, defending the denizens.
Striker arrived at the grand palace of the Marquis atop his formidable hellhorse, Invictus. The creature's hooves struck the ground with a resounding power, sending sparks flying with each step. Invictus, with his midnight black coat and eyes that burned with an inner fire, was a beast that commanded respect and fear in equal measure.
Dressed impeccably in his elegant uniform, Striker cut an imposing figure as he dismounted. His attire spoke volumes of his rank and the high expectations placed upon him: black trousers tucked into knee-high boots adorned with golden and red decorations, a dark red coatee uniform with golden shoulder pads and intricate embroidery, a pair of black gloves and a short, black and golden cape that fell just to the middle of his back. At his side hung a golden rapier, its blade forged from angelic steel, its guard decorated with golden feathers and entwined snakes. A wooden and golden cavalry pistol completed his ensemble, symbolizing both tradition and authority.
Striker approached the palace's entrance and was greeted by the butler, a dignified figure whose demeanor radiated calm efficiency.
“Good afternoon.”
Striker began, his voice steady and formal. Since his academy days, he forced himself to lose his Wrathian accent, considered too crass and informal to use with the nobility.
“Captain Striker, reporting for duty. Please announce me to his Lordship, the Marquis Andras.”
The butler gave a curt nod, acknowledging the request.
“Of course, Captain. Please wait here for a moment.”
With that, the butler turned and disappeared into the opulent interior of the palace.
As he stood waiting, Striker kept his thoughts carefully guarded. He was a soldier, a protector, and now, the personal guard to nobility. Whatever his personal feelings, he would fulfill his duty with the same excellence that had defined his career thus far.
With a final, calming breath, he steeled himself to meet his new charges and masters, ready to present himself to the Marquis and Marquess with all the respect and professionalism his position demanded.

I don't think them incorporating history into the miraculous lore is inherently BAD but the way they went about it is definitely not good and not thought out. Conversely I do like that one headcanon about the Buddha having been a snake wielder- we know he was definitely a real person, and it would even tie directly into how the legend claims that while he was undergoing his journey towards enlightenment, he had a serpent familiar who helped protect him from evil. That would've been fun. Instead we got the Marquis de Lafayette with the eagle miraculous
Wasn’t it Jefferson? I just know it was a Daveed Diggs character
But anyway
There are fun ways to do historical tie-ins without completely butchering the figures involved

In one of the novels ( maybe 11) katarina is worried for when she gets locked in a prison so she wants to be able to mold a key to be able to get out. Raphael taught her how to mold a key with dark magic. I was thinking could this be some foreshadowing? Will something happen that will mean katarina would be locked up somewhere and would need to escape. I feel like the stakes are getting higher each volume. I wonder if she is getting targeted bc of her knowledge or who is going to figure out or be told her secret. What do u think?
Yes, it was in LN11 that she learned how to mold a key with dark magic. I don't know if it will be of use at some point but I don't think she will get locked somewhere, it's most likely that someone will be kept captive (maybe human trafficking again) and she will use this spell to help rescuing them or rather maybe she will use it but to mold something other than a key. (like how she spent all these years praticing how to throw toy snakes to scare Geordo and at the end she used it against a DRAGON)
I think that because, even if she is already being targetted by the dark magic organization I doubt they will do something as simple as just locking her somewhere, after all Catarina wields (apparently) strong dark magic and the dark convenant so it would be too risky to try and being found out by the authorities of Sorcier like in LN3, and the mastermind is quite smart so I don't think he would do that.
And strangely it doesn't seem like the organization is targetting Catarina now, at least "Marquis Dieke" didn't even mention it in his thoughts so maybe it's not the case yet.
And they are three reasons why Catarina may get targeted by this organization :
She has strong dark magic powers but she is not on their side and she uses this magic to ruin their plans
She has the Dark convenant and she is the only one who can read it so even if they steal it it would be useless.
They suspect that Catarina is a reincarnated and that, by some way, she can know ahead what will happen (I still think that Catarina's ability to "see the future in her dreams" will be back in one of the next volumes)
About the one who will found out about her secret, I think it's most likely Keith, Raphael, Geordo or Sora (in this order)

Orias - Day 112
Race: Fallen
Alignment: Neutral-Chaos
September 24th, 2024
Tumblr media
Ah, back with the demons of the Ars Goetia. SMT obviously takes quite a lot from several traditional demonic sources for their compendium, with the Goetia being the most prevalent of the bunch; as a collection of 72 demons with wildly differing concepts, designs, and abilities, it'd be silly to not take from it for filling out a roster. However, this isn't to say they don't do a lot with the goetic demons they pick, as the standouts really do stand out. Case in point, today's demon of the day, and an incredibly odd demon at that- the leopard headed, horse-riding, snake-limbed Orias.
As the 59th spirit of the Goetia, Orias is rather esoteric in many ways, fitting for how late in the document he appears. All of the dukes in the document are strange in their own ways, but as it goes on, the Goetia gets more and more bizarre and specific with its demons. The obvious example of this is, of course, the bird-enjoying Decarabia, whose abilities are so strange and specific that they baffled even Tony4You, but this isn't to say his lower-list contemporaries are also incredibly strange. Orias is actually among the stronger of the demons within the Goetic text, though his influence is rather hard to parse.
Orias's domain encompasses the stars and planets, and his ability to the summoner's gift is related to that as well- as a marquis, his strength is obvious, but with only 30 legions of spirits, one may underestimate him- do not let him fool you, though, as Orias is able to gift the summoner with the ability to understand the planets themselves. To quote,
His Office is to teach the Virtues of the Stars, and to know the Mansions of the Planets, and how to understand their Virtues.
...I dunno, seems rather underwhelming for anyone who isn't an astronomer. Did I talk this guy up too much? I dunno, I like the inclusion of being able to understand their virtues- it's an interesting nod to Roman mythology, though probably unintentional, given that the Goetia was likely written before the planets were named.
Vee-ho, there's more to him!
Oh, right. The part where he actually gets powerful is in his other abilities beyond just being able to read the planets- he's able to either transform the summoner into another form, or allow them to gain favor with anybody around them. Jesus, yeah, I can see why you talked him up, now... the ability to transform would obviously already be incredibly powerful, but being able to force those around you to like you as well could quickly get the summoner to an incredibly high place of power. Orias seems to be built off of manipulation- the demon is even able to turn the tides with your foes to get them to give you favor. To quote,
He also transformeth Men, and he giveth Dignities, Prelacies, and Confirmation thereof; also Favour with Friends and with Foes.
Seems a bit strange that they-hee made this the second part of his abilities, no-ho?
Yeah... still, I'd trust the Goetia's authors. Solomon probably didn't do anything wrong.
You still haven't read the bible?
No. Wait, when the hell did you get in here?!
