#i won't always put my custom card bullshit over here#but look at possession#yes i messed up the phrasing a little. but so did the original monarch token

Wait a minute, does that mean there's gonna be an in-universe "infinity stone"?
Hell are they gonna do?

I'm gonna assume there's something I don't know.

Is Infinity Stone another two-word type?
No, they are two separate types.

not saying this on rosewater's actual post bc he's not making the decisions ultimately and he gets enough misdirected shit as is. But surely, surely, in any sane world this would have been a sign that this was a fundamentally bad idea for a set...
#completely true for a premier set#i'd argue precons would've been fine for spider-man#the protagonists are the faces they go on the boxes#each earth has enough moments and populace to pull from#if you allow for more niche worldbuildy stuff that doesn't have spider-cast on it#daily bugle reporters and taxi driver are the right thing for commons here#not to mention the higher complexity allows for more representative designs#even still that's all a bandaid#UB is kinda doomed with this as MTG isn't too common with its cross-sectional narratives. no wonder most crossovers have been other games

New Miles Morales dropped. Tell me if it's accurate. (@txttletale)

#now that we're seeing the chase cards from SPE i'm a little more hopeful#it still feels kinda flavorless

Was Spider-Man originally slated to be a smaller set like Assassin’s Creed?
Yes. I talk about it in my Spider-Man preview column.

I swear this should've been done before, but I can't find it.

#mtg custom card#i think “you've revealed this” is something the game can reasonably check for#this card is probably far more busted than bridge from below#but i didn't promise balance

Okay, let's sort this out.
The previewed cards for the two Spider-Man sets, Marvel's Spider-Man (SPM) and Marvel's Spider-Man Eternal (SPE), are primarily from the welcome decks.
The cards from SPM are from the main set and legal in standard, with printings in the welcome decks
The cards from SPE (that we saw yesterday) are welcome-deck exclusive and not standard legal.
SPM has legends from common to mythic, and major characters are represented on multiple cards (see below), including those that also helm a welcome deck.

The things still questionable:
Why do the welcome decks have cards that can't be played in standard?
Why are some card titles absolute balls? (See Spider-Man, Peter Parker)
Why is the flavoring so off? (I've been told Tombstone is nothing like what his card represents)
Why does every version of Spider-Man call itself only Spider-Man in the rules text? (I know that's standard formatting, but it's gonna get confusing for new players)
What on earth is Through the Omenpaths gonna reflavor all these Spider-Humans as?
Why is SPM so small? (The set's Plains we've seen has collector number 194. The last few sets' Plains: EOE at 262, FIN at 294, TDM at 277. That's at least 70 cards short, or about 25%)

I will again point out that Final Fantasy was a standard set that was not this. I know nothing about Spider-Man, and still it all seems off.

There is another Miles Morales card.

It's nothing.

this is like. What is this man. this could have been a random 5/5 dinosaur in lci. literally What about this screams 'miles morales' what a generic and boring design
#glad i'm not the only one confused on the two sets#also To my knowledge this is miles. i ain't familiar.#but all the other main names have commons in the set#will there be more? maybe. edge had a low- and high#-rarity version of the big characters

I have been informed that they did indeed spoil starter decks.
Is it just me, is it just the fact that mostly commons have been spoiled so far, or are the Spider-Man sets really underwhelming? Like, starter deck level in terms of complexity and power.
