Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye (The Lost Reels)

The Lost Reels are a reprise for Echoes of the Eye. When I wrote Outer Wilds - Reprise, I wanted to share my memories of the game as a drifting emotion - a fainting thought that could have been lost in a signal further than ever in the distance. When I finished writing the music for Echoes, these characters felt like friends that I’d never see again. It has been a wonderful experience to enter their world again and revisit them. Lost Reels jumps head-first into the Outer Wilds idea of an existential awakening, as well as the alternative Echoes of the Eye touches on - a descent into madness. The most exciting thing for me to think about was, “What if the Outer Wilds universe was real and we heard an alien Voyager sending out their own Golden Record message as signals found deep in space? How would we translate them and how could we connect with their melodies as a reflection on our own lives if we are already living them?" The new compositions are a reminiscence of everything that Outer Wilds and the community has meant to me, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. Andrew Prahlow - August 26 2022

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

man, i don't usually talk about bumblebee, but

imagine bumblebee having a difficult time recharging and coming to you for help. you join him in the garage, concerned for this poor bot. he looks somewhere between embarrassed and exhausted, optics downturned, his antennae pinned back like a sad puppy's ears. he's beeping something at you, and while outsiders might not know what he's doing, you've learned to decipher what he's trying to say by now.

grabbing a blanket to make yourself more comfortable in the cold garage, you take a seat on the hard linoleum. bumblebee curls up in the fetal position with his head on your lap. the moment his head rests on your thighs, you hear him exvent deeply, something like a relaxed sigh.

you already know how to help him relax by now. you smile as you start gently massaging his head, neck, and shoulder plating, your tiny fingers reaching spots between his seams which his thicker fingers just can't. you can always tell when you've hit a good spot by his happy little trills. as you work, you hum to him a sappy love song he plays to you on his radio whenever the two of you drive together. you have a suspicion that it's one of his favorites; his excited beeping confirms your suspicion. every once in a while, between rubbing the dust from his head vents and tracing your thumbs along his cheeks, you sneak a hand up and playfully toy with his antennae. this usually gets you a surprised crackle of static, followed by a flurry of flustered beeps. you always laugh and apologize with a kiss.

how long it takes for bumblebee to enter recharge depends on the day. sometimes it's a minute or two, sometimes it's half an hour. but either way, eventually, his optics offline, his vents whirring softly in what can only be called robotic snoring. you're careful to work yourself out from under him without letting his head thunk against the linoleum and possibly wake him up. once you're certain that he's in recharge, you gently kiss him on the cheek one more time and drape the blanket you were wearing over his still form. it's not big enough to cover him, but having something of yours there with him soothes him if he emerges from recharge after a nightmare. besides, the sight of a giant robot tucked under a blanket is cuter than words can say.

with one last whisper of, "goodnight, bumblebee. i love you," you close the garage door behind you and go to bed, ready to rejoin him in the morning.

I headcanon Edwin's birthday as December 24th. From there I realised today that 2024 would be his centennial champagne birthday. As such, Charles is researching some way he can celebrate since his best mate was uhhhh preoccupied during his actual champagne birthday.

as someone who has worked in influencer marketing i do think all sponsorships are some level of ethically iffy but for the most part i dont have an issue with influencers taking them bc you gotta pay the bills somehow so idc. but putting dragon city and adobe on the same level of morally bad is just disingenuous because while dragon city has its problems at the end of the day its just a mobile app and theres not really a bigger societal problem associate with it. adobe on the other hand is a major company thats been bad in the past and its now pushing ai and whether or not the people taking the sponsorships agree with it, theyre being used to push ai too and its still guilt by association. just because dan and phil dont personally agree with it or use it doesnt mean theyre not doing anything wrong. i understand theyre just trying to get the bag but maybe they should look into what theyre supporting

Soap having a soulmate string for ghost.

Ghost not being able to see that string yet for some reason or another. (Hasn’t realized feelings yet, just can’t see them, something on his end has to happen first. Whatever the AU dictates)

For years soap has been notoriously awful at finding exfil without being explained the directions like 3 times.

But now that ghost and he are on a team?

Soaps just starts using the string to get to exfil.

He doesn’t tell anyone why his sudden and significant improvement to finding the RV, but Price sure is wondering.

Also the fact that this new found ability seems to “randomly” completely disappear sometimes (on missions without ghost) I bet the first few times the Sargent regressed to his old ways Price nearly threw a fit.

God on the one hand this image of young Toshinari is so good

All Might was never just a quirk. The greatest hero in the world was always standing in the shadow of his childhood self, gripping heroism like a metal pipe and swinging. He never lost that innate drive to help. And that's why he's on the battlefield again, decades later, beat down and powerless. Because there's no where else he could be. Because he is a hero.

On the other hand, this whole chapter feels like a mourning song for the story we might have had about Quirkless Hero Deku. So I'm a little sad.
