Today's (10/30/2024) Episode: An Evening of Contests
After a morning spent gaming and learning indoors, Luigiâs family and their foundation friends were ready to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.
Heâd prepared a fun and wholesome event to cap off the foundation livestream, gathering everyone on a nearby beach. Isra, who still worked at the Observe to Conserve foundation took point, explaining a bit of the conservation work they did, and also specifically how trash left on the beach by careless Sims could harm not just the beauty of the environment, but also the health of the native plants and animals living there.
Then she and Luigi showed off a collection of prizes. They divided the attendees into small groups and promised first choice of prizes to whichever group collected the most trash over the next hour or so.
The kids of various ages were excited to roam up and down the beach, picking up anything that didnât belong and collecting inventories full of trash they hoped to exchange for priority access to one prize or another they had liked.
Some of them, especially the younger ones, were perhaps a bit more distracted exploring the pretty beach than cleaning it, but Isra had experience with this. As they got closer to the designated time she made regular announcements, and by the last 5 minutes everyone was clustered around the last few uncleaned feet of beach hunting for last minute âtreasuresâ.
Yoshi collected great footage of it all, including Israâs little awards ceremony and her final pitch for the kids to keep Sulani Beautiful as they left.
After the kids dispersed with their winnings, Luigi headed back to the gaming center where he had arranged to meetup with Professor Silva.
He wasnât the only one looking forward to seeing his old faculty mentor. A number of his old Foxbury E-Sports teammates came too, engaging in an impromptu mini-tourney. Much to the chagrin of the professional e-sports players there, Luigiâs college fling Jade won the day.
Yoshi was taking a charging break, but Skye captured several pictures of his fatherâs defeat, not that Lawbourne senior was too broken up about his loss. âSome of my fondest memories are playing games with you guys at the University commons, and this was a great walk down memory lane!â
âIf youâre up for more reminiscing, the E-Sports team has their big game coming up in just a few hoursâ Professor Silva mentioned. âIâd love for you all to head back to campus with me and cheer on my current crew; maybe pick out your favorites for the Rainy Day internship program?â
Noemi and several others were only too happy to spin into their winter wear and teleport to the stadium at their old Alma Mater.
âYour mom and I made so many great memories hereâ Luigi told his son as they walked through campus. âWhen youâre old enough we should take the college tour so you can see everything Foxbury has to offer.â Skye nodded shyly, not wanting to disappoint his parents, but in truth the big, cold lot intimidated him. He wasnât so sure about this whole âuniversityâ thing.
The game was well worth the price of admission. The two teams were neck and neck all evening, but in the end, for the first time in a long time, Foxbury won the day. âYou did it â congrats man!â Luigi enthused to his old mentor as they were leaving the stadium.
âThank you for supporting the team,â Coach Silva replied, âIâve got to get back to my champions, but your advice and help made a big difference.â
By the time the game ended it was quite late, but no one wanted to go to bed without ringing in the new year. To that end they made their way back to the gaming center to end the evening in style.Â
âShushubie⌠shushubie⌠Fleeba Zoob!â the large group of Luigiâs favorite sims cried as the New Yearâs countdown ticked over to midnight.
A recharged Yoshi was cruising the crowd with the other streaming cameras, capturing the celebration as everyone thanked their viewers for contributing to the big fundraiser earlier in the day. With hugs all around, and a strange question from Skye about how long teeth took to digest (where, Luigi wondered, did kids get these ideas!?) the large happy family started the new year off right: with a dance party of course.
Luigi didnât know how things would look a year from now, but it seemed unlikely heâd be able to top that dayâs accomplishments.

One thing I love about this series is that it infuses reality. The animators scatter things and places to make it believable like Easter eggs. It also resonates the sentiments of the characters to the audience.
1) Takahashiya Mall could be Takashimaya. The red emblem is the clue. It is a luxury store that can be likened to Selfridges where only branded items are sold. I assume they went to the Nihombashi Tokyo branch. Which gives us the impression that knowing Kazuki, this was his favorite place to buy his clothes, etc. Until Anna Hanyu told him of the wonders of the discount stores.
2) I canât believe they put âsmockâ in quotations. And Rei meant it was a cookie. What a Schmuck. Understandable as the two of them didnât have any experience with it. I wonder if they wanted us to search for the etymology of the word which is womenâs undergarment.
What it is and what is it really
3) The list of items a child needs in the daycare center is not absurd actually including placing the childâs name on every item. Iâve heard this from acquaintances who are kindergarten pedagogues about the reason it is important to write your childâs name on their things. The number of items that are lost or taken unintentionally is an everyday occurrence in these institutions (kigas, schools, etc.) bc often a child doesnât care especially if the pieces of clothing are not written with the ownerâs name. They also discourage the parents not to dress up their children in branded clothes. The number of complaints they get when the children come back home with dirty clothes is far too many. Good for the Japanese childcare system for having a foresight.
Also, I realised that there are a couple of types of childcare institutions in Japan that even the natives get confused. In the series Kazuki claimed that yĹchien (ĺšźç¨ĺ) and hoikuen (äżč˛ĺ) are the same. (âItâs the same thing with a different name.â) They were talking about hoikuen the whole time. Not sure if it was the writerâs intention. Although Kazuki got the fish difference correctly.
Hoikuen are legally defined as a child welfare institution and are subordinate to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Affairs, MHLW for short. Their focus is on the care of children whose families cannot take care of them during the day. That's why they are also the first point of contact for families where both parents work. Hoikuen therefore have long opening hours and accept children under one year of age. If they fulfil the requirements of the Child Welfare Act, they will receive a state license.
âŚ
So-called yĹchien kindergartens, on the other hand, are defined as schools under Japanese law and resemble preschools. For this reason, they are also subordinate to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, MEXT for short. Yochien only accept children from the age of three. Since they usually only offer half-day care, they are favoured by families where one parent does not work or works part-time. ( x )
Another sourceâŚ
First of all, letâs define the word âdaycare.â You might call it daycare or nursery school, but daycare in Japan is hoikuen (äżč˛ĺ) and is reserved for babies 56 days old up to 6 years old.
This is not to be confused with kindergarten (ĺšźç¨ĺ | yĹchien), which is exclusively for kids 3 years old until they enter first grade. ( x )
4) Kazukiâs attempt to fit in on Miriâs first day at the daycare was not so far from the truth really.
Somewhere is a Louis Vuitton shopping bag
Believe it or not, Japanese mothers put a lot of effort on their choice of clothing on the day of the kindergarten interview. Kazuki had probably searched for those things and encountered the webpages where mothers gave advices on what to wear on this occasion. Take a note from this social content creator who used to work as a kindergarten teacher in Japan and is also a mum.
There is an âunofficialâ dress code for these events, which is one step up from a funeral and a few notches down from an entrance ceremony. Take a look at what parents (mainly moms) should wear! ( x )
Too bad they exaggerated it on Miriâs first day. I cannot entirely blame Kazuki though. Him being an orphan who had witnessed poverty and being ostracized because of it, I guess, his opinion on how the people are treated based on their outside appearance bears unpleasant memories that he strives away from. Though it was a bit unfair to point out Reiâs social standing when K is not entirely privy to his friendâs traumatic past.
5) If the forged document below contains a bit of some facts (very important for writing fan fiction): Kazuki was born on the 16th of May, 1994. A Taurus. Miri, on the other hand, was born in 2018 November 8. They live in Naka Ward, apartment 801, 2-chĹme (city district) Natsuyoshi (<<â I donât think that really exists) Yokohama Prefecture. That is if there were some truths in it.

Food Wars! - Transforming Furikake Rice
Why did Erina fail Sohma outright, and Why did her Grandfather overturn that ruling?
The show portrays this as simply being "so unfathomably delicious, there was no choice.
...And Erina is just a stuck-up lying b*".
The characters in the show are being portrayed as being chefs with cooking experience equivalent to their character's age. So we must understand that each one has the ability to differentiate exactly how a dish was prepared, and what ingredients were used.
So why did Nakiri fail Yukihira on the spot?
First; we must remember that she went into the test as an agent to fail every potential transfer student with absolutely no way of changing her mind. Second; we must understand that she was so used to tasting some of the best dishes the world has to offer, that her standards may have been too high to proctor this test. That's not her fault; it's a product of her upbringing. And her parents didn't exactly work to help teach her that, just sort of figuring she would learn it herself. (Which she eventually does.)
Third, she literally spent the duration of the test before Yukihira showed up eating dishes that she described as Tasting "like being hit in the head with a jukebox." And "like bathing with a Westland Gorilla". Remember she had been doing this all day, and the students just now arriving also know that their entire career may be over if somebody with her clout cancels them.
And up comes this random a* chef with no clout, the first person to not recognize her in as long as she can remember. And what she feels is pity; she's worried for *him* because she's probably ruined many chef's careers and family owned diners and businesses.
She's probably seen it happen. What she doesn't want; is to keep doing that. But her she is; forced to protect her image and Tohtski Academy's image. And she has no choice but to ruin this man's whole career.
Poor guy.
And after all that, he prepared a rudimentary dish of Scrambled Eggs over Rice. He could've taken all the time in the world, and prepared *any* dish he wanted. *PLUS* IT'S NOT EVEN MORNING. WHO MAKES BREAKFAST THIS LATE IN THE DAY!?
To her; he wasn't even taking the entrance exam seriously. This demeanor told her what she needed to know; if he can't muster up enough enthusiasm to take *this* seriously, why would he take an education at Tohtski seriously?
And then she tasted his dish after being stuck in that negative mindset, and the dish Yukihira assaulted her senses exactly like the aforementioned dishes. But with that "Yukihira Signature Flair".
There wasn't even time for her to take in the smells of the food being prepared; he was so fast at preparing this dish, she didn't even see the amount of work he had put into it.
It takes gelatin 2-4 hours to set. This a*h* prepared a flavorful bone broth and turned it into jello in less than 30 minutes? As far as she knew; he pulled some random shit out of his back pocket.
In her mind; this was a defense mechanism. There's literally*NO WAY* that she knew of to prepare such a flavorful dish in such a short period of time. ESPECIALLY NOT A UMAMI SAVORY GELATO FROM SCRATCH.
He must've cheated. There's no other way. It was good, but this kid's demeanor, the time spent, everything didn't quite add up in a way that, even her experience could understand.
Remember; she literally knows thousands of dishes and preparation methods she had been training since she was born. AND THIS F* DID SOMETHING SO FAR OFF-META SHE COULDNT UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING.
He did cheat; by the way. But in a legal way. This is why Erina's Grandfather was watching the test take place. Just for something, anything that she could have overlooked.
Her grading and analysis were spot on by ANY STANDARD SHE OR THE ACADEMY KNEW OF.
But her Grandfather was watching Soma from behind, and watched exactly what he did and how he prepared everything. And seeing that, he tasted the dish and understood two things;
Why Erina failed him, AND why Soma deserved entry into Tohtski Academy.
The dish literally defied logic.

Hiiii not sure if asking anonymously counts but... I am shy. I am a lurker who came across your story and read from the beginning, (yes the whole thing) and I can't get enough. My question is- with Coraleye being Yellow's youngest child, is he protective over her at all? Also, how does he feel about all of the boyfriends she's had? I am curious about his opinion on them all. Thanks :))
omg I love this question! First of THANK YOU SO MUCH!! It warms my heart to hear you read the whole story, I know it's a lot. Sorry it took so long to respond, I wanted to do something fun with thisđ
It is true that Coraleye is Yellow's youngest child and only daughter, and of course he's generally concerned for her well-being, Yellow also takes pride in being a very progressive parent and has definitely always strived to give Coraleye the tools she needed growing up to make thoughtful, well informed decisions when it comes to love.
With that being said, that doesn't mean Lo hasn't developed some strong opinions on some of the characters Coraleye has found herself entangled with over the years.
I tracked down everyone she's actually dated (not including just flings or love interests) so let's go over her history from Yellow's perspective!
Duane
Duane Talla was Coraleye's first boyfriend, and she was absolutely enamored with him right from the start. This made Yellow very wary, since they were only just teenagers at the time, and Coraleye was certain that Duane was her soulmate.
Yellow watched Coraleye experience her first heartbreak when the convoluted Shelbi story arc came into play. Duane, being so young at the time, didn't seem to know what he wanted, and this really messed with Coraleye's heart and strung her along. Yellow doesn't hold this against him anymore, though. Coraleye has forgiven him, and they were both just kids after all. Additionally, Duane seems to have settled down and matured quite a bit since marrying Shelbi. He and Coraleye still remain friends and Duane and his family are even considered family friends of the Darlings, especially to Frieda and Charm in Sulani who see Duane and Shelbi almost daily.
Lark
Lark McCloud was a classmate of Coraleye's, and while things were off during Coraleye and Duane's on-and-off-again romance, Lark offered a reliability that Coraleye took comfort in. Lark was Coraleye's first prom date, and while that was interrupted by Duane, the two shared an unforgettable experience, worthy of the sappiest of teenage rom-coms.
Yellow could also appreciate this relationship. Lark was a good kid, aside from skipping class now and again. Yellow couldn't deny he didn't really see Lark as someone Coraleye would go for, but maybe that's what she needed. They went on lots of adorable dates and finally made things official, but Lark reluctantly broke things off with Coraleye one night, after Coraleye introduced Lark to her beloved swarm of bees, which they later discover that Lark is deathly allergic to. Yellow agrees that this (the break up) was for the best. Lark was nice, but if it weren't for the bees it would most assuredly be something else. Lark's life seems to be too tame for Coraleye, and he didn't believe the two would be compatible for very long.
Maarvin
Coraleye was just beginning her magic journey, when she crossed paths with fellow spellcaster Maarvin Stonehart. He had a charming demeanor, a captivating smile, and a barely comprehensible Henford-on-Bagley accent that Coraleye found absolutely irresistible. They shared an intense attraction for one another and bonded over their pink-adjacent eyes and hair colors. Immersing themselves in the Realm, and one another, they dedicated most of their free time to training together, quickly becoming a teenage power-couple of sorts. Yellow never had the opportunity to meet Maarvin face to face, but he could already see many red flags emerging from the situation. Maarvin often attempted (unsuccessfully) to manipulate Coraleye or seek to exert dominance. He was highly competitive, and a sore loser to boot. Their relationship ended fairly quickly, but it didn't take long for Maarvin to enter and even longer and more toxic relationship with Coraleye's rather vulnerable cousin, Robin, which only just ended recently.
Morgyn
Ahh, Morgyn. Coraleye's relationship with Morgyn Ember was passionate, long, and turbulent to say the least. I'll try to keep it concise. Morgyn was Coraleye's first YA relationship. With Morgyn being the Sage of Untamed magic, as well as Coraleye's mentor, their relationship was forbidden and they vowed to keep it a secret. Yellow clocked this immediately and didn't care for Morgyn because of the power dynamic their relationship created. Despite the secrecy, Morgyn was devoted to Coraleye and treated her with love and respect as the relationship progressed. Yellow noted this, and even gave his blessing to marry his daughter, despite still harboring additional personal grievances. Morgyn and Coraleye experienced break ups, and make ups and Coraleye happily remained by Morgyn's side as they navigated their childhood trauma, a gender identity journey, the loss of Morgyn's mother, and the most impactful, Morgyn's own brutal death, haunting, and eventual resurrection through vampirism. Coraleye figured these things only made their love stronger. Unfortunately, Coraleye was proven wrong one New Year's Eve night when Morgyn betrayed Coraleye, by cheating on her with fellow vampire Caleb Vatore.
Coraleye continues to deal with trauma inflicted on her from this young relationship, but she strives every day to forgive Morgyn and put the past behind her. Yellow, however, will never forget the pain his daughter endured by getting involved with the Sage of Untamed Magic.
Tycho
Yellow absolutely loves Tycho. He sees so much of himself in him, both being incredibly clumsy guys and devoted partners. The Darlings have known Tycho for so many years now, dating back to when he befriended Sunglo in college. He's had his screw ups, but Yellow can see how happy he makes Coraleye, and he thinks they'd make a good forever pair. Yellow does recognize that Tycho unfortunately doesn't fit into the criteria for a valid co-heir to the Darling family legacy. However, Yellow strongly urges Coraleye to not let that stop her from finding her soulmate. The family has lived without magic before, and they could do it again. Yellow knows that the legacy is important to Coraleye and he can see her apprehension when it comes to taking things further with Tycho. He worries about that a lot, and hopes Coraleye makes the right decision.
Thank you again for this ask! Memory lane questions are always so fun. Anyone who made it through this whole post, let me know, I'm sending you flowers!

Go to Asia with your family: Today was a good day
Since departing with a baby and a toddler on a three month journey far away from home, a lot of people have been asking my partner and me what it's like to do all this traveling with two small kids. It's not just our friends asking. We've often gotten the same questions from people we've met while we're out and about wearing our kids on our bodies, carrying all their stuff, and doing whatever we've decided to do that day.
Like most aspects of having children, traveling with them is.... different. For a start, as two working people, neither of us is used to spending the whole day with our kids. As troubling as this may sound, that was actually what I was the most worried about before the trip. In Berlin we rely heavily on daycare to store positive parenting energy that can then be discharged in the afternoons and evenings when we see our daughter for the first time in 7 hours.
Turns out, spending every day together has mostly been really fun (phew). Looking after a 2 1/2 year-old and her baby brother all day is still a lot of work. The thing is, the hard parts really aren't that much different whether we're at home or somewhere else in the world. So while each day for us still typically includes its fair share of little kid problems, we've still been enjoying a lot of what travel typically has to offer. If you are the type of person who likes the experience of traveling (we both are, not everyone is and that's okay too!), doing it with your kids is just another thing about your life that changes when you have them.
This next post talks about the experience coming to terms with that realization while on a beautiful island in Thailand. Be sure to read until the end for the true story of what happened at the end of one of our beach days last month. I think it sums everything up quite nicely.
Sunday 12 February 2023
Koh Lanta
The great sage Ice Cube dedicated one of the most famous hip hop songs in history to the importance of appreciating when one has had a truly good day. A lesson to live by â especially when oneâs days consist of looking after small children and all of their attendant hopes, dreams, and physical needs.
Going on a beach vacation with kids has necessitated coming to a new understanding of the word ârelaxationâ. To begin with, Zara and I arenât really used to taking trips where the goal is do nothing. Before kids, it was common for us to fill a weekend or 5 day or 10 day trip with as many highlights as we could comfortably (and sometimes not-so-comfortably) see during the time available. Maya slowed us down a bit, but not that much if we are being honest. On the trips we've taken since she was born, we were consistently going on some adventure or another almost every other day. Partly out of circumstance, both of our trips back to the US with only one child have featured significant to-ing and fro-ing, as we try to pack in as much time with family and friends and other special people as possible. And the first month of this trip was like the Pakistan version of those visits to the US.
So as much as we were looking forward by the end of January to the promise of our month on this very relaxing island, I think it took us a few days to really come down. The same may well have been true for Maya and Camino. What I can say is that few things feel less conventionally relaxing to an adult than feeling irritable while cajoling a misbehaving toddler through a succession of beautiful and interesting places where you canât stop thinking about how you really should be having a better time. For all the heroes out there who cast dirty looks at parents struggling to manage their kids in public situations, I can guarantee that no one is having a worse time than the parent who is the object of such foolish and undiscerning scorn. Â
After a few days of feeling this frustrating dynamic repeat itself (minus the dirty looks â people here are nice), I think a few things happened. First, I asked myself if I really wanted to be the person I was seeing myself become. Toddlers need boundaries, but at the same time I knew that we had to find an outlet for Mayaâs physical energy that would be more fun than getting annoyed over and over at her frequent testing of limits. Second, I think we had to discover a good routine here. We started doing some "yoga" on the beach in the morning, which involved some actual yoga and a lot of redirected toddler energy, but overall it set a good tone for the day. Hanging out at the beach and doing yoga were two things that I was looking forward to about being on this island before we came here. Each day spent without doing yoga and without enough beach time therefore made me feel as if I was missing out, further fueling my cycle of being a grumpy papa on vacation. Â
Finally, I think it dawned on Zara and me that we had to accept the pace of this trip for what it is. I spent the first few days here feeling various additional levels of FOMO from looking around at all the interesting places to see on this island that would be either impractical or impossible to explore with our children at their current age. The best way to get around Koh Lanta is via motorbike, which plenty of families do but is not really something that we have a desire to try. We needed to acknowledge that against all of our previous traveling impulses, we would have to be okay with not doing as much on this trip and just be a little bit more strategic about what we do want to see.Â
Which brings me back to Ice Cube. Since adjusting our expectations of what we will manage to see and do while weâre here, weâve discovered more of the charms of Khong Klong than ever. On Friday (maybe it was Friday?) we decided that our big adventure would be to walk slightly further down the beach to a slightly different beach bar with slightly different loungers and hammocks, affordably priced food and drinks, and all of the other key features of just about every beach bar in Koh Lanta. Zara had spotted this one a few days earlier after yoga and noted that the abundance of umbrellas would make it a good place to try if we wanted to go for a full day at the beach. So we left in the morning with all of our beach stuff in hand, and a plan to stay out as long as we were all still having a good time. I brought Mayaâs backpack so she would have a place to take her nap in the middle of the afternoon. We prepared as many things for both Maya and Camino as we could possibly think of. And I gotta say it was a good day!
Maya is a lot of fun right now at the beach. Sheâs really into her sand toys, and loves filling the bucket with anything from sand to rocks to water to, naturally, a combination of all three. She also really likes going into the water with us, and so far itâs been a good place to teach her about some important boundaries. It would be interesting if there were any scientific information on how many times various guidelines about safety must be repeated to a child between the ages of 2 and 4 for them to reliably internalize it. But itâs been cute and reassuring to hear the way that Maya, who is repeating everything right now, repeats lessons like âwatch out for rocks in the water!â and âonly with mama and papa in the water!â to herself even when I am not putting her on the spot. In all, the combination of perfect sea temperatures and Mayaâs general willingness to take safety guidance has made going into the ocean together a great experience that we can share. When Iâm lucky, after weâve been in the water for a while Maya will go play with her sand toys on her own and I can submerge my entire body in the waist-high shallows of the water while watching her from a distance. I keep hearing that parenting does get easier.
We went on like this for the entirety of Friday (?) afternoon - me getting into the water with Maya, us playing in the sand together, me washing off again in the ocean and relaxing while she busies herself with sand, us going into the water together again, walking back eventually to Zara after Iâve had enough and then letting them repeat the process together after a while. We had managed to score a great home base on two loungers underneath an overhang, where we were fully shaded until the sun started to dip over the western-facing sea in the mid-afternoon and gradually chased us back. All day we ordered a succession of fruit shakes and pad Thai and had a nice view of the comings and goings of this interesting beach. Camino, for his part, seemed to have an enjoyable day lying in the shade while playing with sensory toys and getting his bare body cooled off with water every hour or so. He got to go in the ocean a couple of times too. Like his sister, he seems to really enjoy water.
That night I brought Maya back from the beach far past her bedtime, carrying both her and the backpack (why?) and also pushing our stroller. Zara had gone home earlier with Camino, wearing him home in the wrap after heâd had some trouble going to sleep. Maya and I had stayed late at the place we had wandered to for dinner, running around with Nola and Juno and the nice Swedish-American kids that we met on the beach earlier that same day. By the time we walked up the hill to Pinky it was almost 21:30 and I was tired physically from carrying Maya and the stuff home for almost 20 minutes, but lifted by the adrenaline of a day where almost everything went right. We read books and had a nice bedtime together.Â
The next morning we continued our beach routine and had another really lovely time under the shade of a banyan tree at Meeting Point, the closest beach spot to us at the opposite end of Klong Khong. In the evening, we went back to the beach to get some barbecued tuna. We let Maya roam naked on the beach for awhile as she played with her toys. We ate at a table in the sand.
At some point I stood up and saw what looked to be a small brown turd. I immediately thought the worst, but Zara confidently reassured me that it was not from Maya. She pointed toward the three dogs from one of the beach bars that were running around. Both of our stress levels were starting to rise with the sound of Camino fussing from again being overtired. It must have been one of the dogs, she insisted.  Zara said she was sure Maya hadnât pooped on the beach. I thought it unwise to push back any further. Â
Clearly not fully sure of herself, Zara went to ask Maya if she needed to make poo poo. It was at this point that Maya pointed back in the direction of the turd and Zaraâs adamant denial was overridden by the rapid realization that Maya really had pooped on the beach. She came back and told me the news. I tried not to gloat about being right. I was busy soothing Camino, so she was the one who had to use Mayaâs toys to clean the turd from the sand.
Parenting. Sometimes you have a great day and sometimes your kid takes a poo on the beach. Sometimes, these two things happen in the same 24 hours.
What better metaphor exists for the experience of having small children?

Don't get me wrong, I really like the twins and the 4 winds, but the more time passes, the more I wished the DLC had a different story, cause while I love Nel and Rafal I don't think their own experience as Fell children can be read as an extension of the main story but moreso as mirroring it. What do I mean by this ?... well, remember when Nel and Veyle have a problem knowing who is the oldest one because they are born and have been raised in different world ? THAT'S exactly what I am refering to cause it doesn't matter how similar Sombron and Xenobron are, even then Alear, Veyle and the Fell twins didn't had the same childhood. I already explained it many times but because the twins seems older then Alear that means chances alternate version of themselves existed are low and the devs aren't gonna confim it anyway due to hum * check notes* Ah yes, the Twins becoming irrelevant once you completed the DLC ha, ha, ha ! ha...
But because of this, it means that literally anything they can say about their world might not apply 100% to Alear's childhood. So the whole "Oh Nel and Rafal might help providing more about how Sombron treated his kids" falls flat, heck the main story hides behind that to justify the utter irrelevance of the twins in the main story since otherwise they could create so many plot holes Engage's plot would look like gruyère cheese. Moreover, the Fell Xenologue's story feels a bit too much irrelevant since it doesn't bring much to the main plot and it's basically like running in circle when you end up recruiting the one person that started everything!!!
Now, my personal wish for a DLC story, especially since Engage's cut content revealed they intented to put a playable Past Alear would be a bonus DLC about Alear's past. The Story would have taken place once Alear saved Veyle and regain their memories but instead of accessing it through the Somniel well, you can acess it on your chamber, you select play the story and then we are shown Alear sleeping and dreaming of their past and you live again the war of 1 000 ago. Like this Nel and Rafal would have been Alear's sibby and they would have had more relevance in bringing on the Sombron drama family, like this we see Alear in the past fighting with them and maybe another bunch of Fell siblings like this we get a better picture of why Alear cared about their siblings since they were sad for all of them being dead, we could see them intereact and then we have at some point the occassion to see Alear meeting Lumera for the first time!! Because it's obvious that Alear betrayed Sombron to save Veyle and at that time they were the only sibling so, they didn't had any other siblings to protect which means we could have also see the reason why Alear completely turned their back on Sombron !! And then when you finish the last paralogue, Alear comes to see Veyle and tells her about their siblings and tells her she remembers everything and share their memories. So you of course, wouldn't get Nel nor Rafal as units to join you nor the Winds, but like this the story would have contributed to the main one, we could have had even more sympathy for Alear and their siblings by giving them a proper identity (and maybe it would have helped Sombron beat Hilda at worst parent tournament ) because... I like to have dragons units too but with this story DLC YOU COULD HAVE HAD ALEAR TURN INTO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cause we could have seen how Alear meets with Veyle !!!!! And when they gave her the dragonstone !!! So sure, you would have had to fight Sombron since you could have had the cinematic at the end of chapter 20/21 but just imagine. The story for Xenologue being this offered so much opportunity to expand more on Alear's family and live as a Fell child and I know, I know that the Alternate world was obviously though seriously since the DLC Emblem are bracelets from XenElyos and this is clearly explained from the get go, but I can't help it, I wanna know more about Lulu's sibbies, even if you can't recruit any of Alear's sibling due to it being a dream/memories because it would have helped bring more to the story. Now you can argue that for the 3DS game, the DLC didn't had that too, but Future Past did provided some material for explaning how Morgan even exists, Heir of Fates did deepended more on Anankos lore and helped flesh out the Fates 2nd gen even if it was just a Future Past clone story (and more intersting and better writtent then the main story) and Ashen wolves... huh, brough some informations about Byleth's mom ? (what was the purpose of Ashen wolves again ?)

Thanks for engaging with my post. I hear you. Wilhelm is still a kid, on some level. So is Sara. Theyâre both teenagersâwhich is a different stage of being a kid than being a prepubescent kid. Itâs sometimes uncomfortable or difficult to think about teenagers making big decisions about the future, especially when itâs something as fraught as parenting. And itâs definitely uncomfortable and difficult at times to be a teenager and be in those decision-making moments. Nonetheless, we ask teenagers of Sara and Wilhelmâs ages to think about decisions that affect their future all the time. We ask them to consider what career theyâll pursue or what university to attend. Teenagers who grow up in various denominations of Christianity consider whether theyâre going to go through with Confirmation or sometimes Baptism. Other religions (ones where I canât speak from as much personal experience) have various other rites of passage around this age, and various cultures have coming of age rituals. For some teens, they do these things willingly and with their whole heart, whereas for others, they do it to please their parents or families or for the social norms of it all.
Itâs also common to talk to teens about reproduction and parenthood in a variety of ways. Itâs common because most teens are capable of making babies, and many teens are sexually active. Sometimes these conversations happen in sex ed classes when contraception is discussed. Sometimes other classes focusing on life skills talk about household budgets and how having kids can impact that. Sometimes talking about parenting happens in religious setting. Sometimes this is just an older adult, well-intentioned or ill-intentioned, saying âwhen you have your own kidsâŚâ I heard that all the time at Wilhelmâs age. (At that age I was also visiting and applying to colleges, and working on my grades to get into my college of choice, and refusing Confirmation because I had questions about my religion. All of these were plans for my future, even though those plans have evolved since then. Back then I wanted to be an archaeologist or museum curator and thought I might want kids someday. My plans have since shifted, but the decisions I made back then still shaped me moving into adulthood.)
We also have to acknowledge that some teenagers are already parents, and that those teens are often making decisions about their kidsâ needs. I donât want to make generalizations here, because thereâs such a diversity of reasons that teens end up as parents, but I want to acknowledge the truth of teen parents existing and that theyâre young people whoâve had to think about parenthood.
To that end, YR reflects the real world in terms of what it asks teens to contemplate about their future. The choir teacher talks to Simon in a way where she wants him to think about a future music career. Nils references his plans to be a CEO and takes action based on those plans. Itâs never shown onscreen but based on vibes I feel like Feliceâs mom has asked Felice about her dream wedding (and then micromanaged any ideas Felice offers, if Felice manages not to roll her eyes at her mom.) August knows exactly what university heâs going to, what he plans to study, and how heâs going to use his degree to renovate Ă
rnäs. When Sara asks August about protection, whether they realize or not, they are implicitly having a conversation about parenthood and reproductive autonomy. Kristina talks to Wilhelm about his future, tooâboth in terms of when he follows her onto the throne and âwhen he has children.â While Kristina is far from an A+++ parent, her mistake is not in talking to Wilhelm about his future at all and asking him to think about it, but rather in presupposing a strict future for Wilhelm while ignoring or downplaying Wilhelmâs input in the process.
Young Royals is beautiful and unique because it captures a time in peopleâs lives when theyâre first starting to think about their adult futures, but donât quite have the emotional toolbox or wisdom or experience to navigate everything yet. Instead, theyâre putting together that emotional toolbox in that moment. Itâs not irresponsible for adults to ask teens to think about what they want to become somedayâitâs actually developmentally appropriate. Whatâs important is being honest with teens about what those decisions actually involve, while also honoring the gradually increasing agency teens get in making decisions. Wilhelm isnât being asked to think about whether he wants kids tomorrow, but people are assuming heâs going to have kids, which means heâs had to think about it.
Iâve learned a lot from my discussions with @heliza24, who writes awesome plays in her spare time and often thinks about stories in terms of dramatic questions. The central dramatic question of Young Royals is whether Wilhelm accepts, rejects, or reinvents his role as future monarch. Because of the way the monarchy relies on reproduction to continue existing, Wilhelm, teenager though he may be, is implicitly being asked to surrender his future reproductive autonomy if he wants to serve the system as it currently stands. Whatâs interesting to me about this is we donât usually see cisgender male characters in a teen drama in this kind of decision making or future planning. Wilhelmâand Augustâare being put in this position by the story and I think thereâs something quite unique about that.
As for a potential pregnancy storyline with Sara, Iâm not saying it will happen. Iâm not saying it wonât. I want to be clear that this is in no way a prediction post, nor is it my wish list for season 3. What I am saying is, if a pregnancy plotline were to happen, it would fit in with themes already established by seasons 1 and 2 and effectively raise the narrative stakes. There are other ways of doing thematically resonant plots as well; there does not have to be a pregnancy or abortion storyline in season 3. Itâs just the idea I chose to write about today, because Iâve noticed the reproductive subtext in YR and how itâs always lurking in the storyâs background, and because Iâm interested in how YR talks about the decisions people suddenly have to start making in adolescence. I hope I was able to clarify some of my intentions and why this analysis is meaningful to me!
Young Royals, parenthood, and reproductive autonomy (a meta I guess)
Especially with season 3 approaching, people talk a lot about whether or not Wilhelm will accept or reject the throne. This is often framed in terms of Wilhelmâs love for Simon, as well as his ability to own and express his queer (albeit as of yet unlabeled) identity. We also discuss this in terms of what sort of symbolic leader Wilhelm could be for Sweden.
Thereâs one question I want to add to the mix, when we consider Wilhelmâs future: to what extent is Wilhelm willing or eager to become a parent someday?
To build upon that a little further: to what extent is parenthood a choice for Wilhelm in a system where he is expected and required to father an heir, and probably a spare as well? What does his reproductive agency look like in that situation?
Now, I donât want to turn this into a discussion of the reproductive mechanics of the line of succession. I know a lot of folks have speculated ways that can or canât be addressed, and have talked about issues like surrogacy laws and adoption and whatever else. I also know thereâs the possibility of the throne going to some relative or another. Iâm not interested in that right now! Instead, I want to focus on the practical and emotional aspects of what it means for Wilhelm to contemplate future parenthood.
So letâs ask some more questions: does Wilhelm actually want children? If so, at roughly what age does he want kids? About how many kids does Wilhelm want? If he wants more than one kid, about how spaced apart does he want to have them? What are his views on how to parent? These are all questions that Wilhelm should have a choice to contemplate on his own, but likely wonât as long as he remains crown prince. The social norms of the monarchy likely dictate that becoming a parent happens at a certain time and pace, in a particular manner. Moreover thereâs a certain prescribed way it has to all be presented to the public. Finally, Wilhelm knows that by having a kid while in the role as monarch, he would set that kid up for some of the same things he went through as a child, unless he takes extra care to break and dismantle toxic cycles. His child would be an heir to the throne and certain things would be expected of that child, the way they were of him.
The upshot of all of this is that YR raises questions about Wilhelmâs reproductive autonomy and future in a way we donât usually get to see for cisgender male characters in teen dramas. (I would also say we get an intimations of this with August and Erik, as wellâweâve seen the way the royal court has exerted their influence over both when it comes to relationships and sexuality.) These kinds of conflicts and dilemmas usually only come up when they involve characters with uteruses. So itâs interesting to see the way that YR plays with this idea of reproductive autonomy, and extends the discussion.
Possibly a take that will bug some of my fellow fans, but Iâm going to say it anyway: this is why I think Sara having a potential pregnancy or pregnancy scare could be on theme for season 3. Iâm not saying itâs definitely gonna happen. What I am saying is that if it did happen, it would fit in with the showâs themes and dramatic questions as already established and would be more than just âdrama.â (Drama in a program classified by its genre as a drama? You donât say!) Sara would have to contemplate some of the same questions that Wilhelm contemplates about parenthood and parenting, and you could parallel their two arcs quite effectively.Â
Now, obviously they would also be in very different situations with different things at stake. Wilhelmâs class situation and reproductive organs are naturally different than Saraâs, so theyâre naturally going to experience this parenthood differently. Sara would also have to engage with this question on a bodily level, as sheâd be the one carrying a pregnancy to term, and that is a nine month process that takes a lot out on the body even in âhealthyâ pregnancies. (Pregnancy tends to be tougher for people with autism, too.) Finally, Sara will have to think about her own parents a lot, and what she absorbed from them. What does it mean for Sara to contemplate parenthood when she herself is the child of an abusive relationship?
Now, I want to point out that weâve also seen YR use this strategy of parallels between characters for exploring other issues. Felice and August both struggle with perfectionism and body image, but that plays out differently for them due to differences in gender, race, and family structure. Simon and Sara grapple with similar questions about relationships and being in love and season 2, but experience that differently due to gender, sexual orientation, and neurotype. Simon and August both struggle with trauma around fathers with drug addiction, that causes them to engage with drugs in unsafe ways (August mostly by using, Simon mostly by dealing), but we know theyâll be seen differently by others because of their class. And so on. Part of what YR does so well is the way it shows how human beings can hold experiences in common, but still be divided in how they experience them based on systems that reinforce a social hierarchy. Paralleling Wilhelm and Sara around dramatic questions of future parenthood and reproductive autonomy could be really illuminating.
While I firmly believe that, if Sara has a pregnancy situation/pregnancy scare, Sara herself should be centered in that particular plotline, we also know such a plotline would likely involve August as the person who donated half the DNA of the fetus in question. Which then throws Augustâs arc into a suddenly very real and frightening place: heâs in a position where he could perhaps in the most basic sense fulfill the âdestinyâ ordered of him by the Society and by the machinations of the royal court members who want him as Wilhelmâs backup. (We know what that phone conversation he has with Jan-Olof is really about, and again I remain grossed out.)Â
And yes, we also know that August has exercised his capacity to seriously harm others multiple times throughout seasons 1 and 2, and that he is about to be in serious legal trouble for leaking the video. Even without that, what would it mean for him to have to think about these questions of parenthood when he hasnât fully processed the trauma and grief of losing his own father, or had a chance to heal his fractured relationship with his mother? Whether you come at the horror of August fathering a child from the angle of August as someone who has relentlessly hurt others, or from the angle of August as someone with deep, parent-related pain of his own and minimal support to navigate that pain, I think ultimately what weâre being shown here is the ruthlessness of monarchy as it relies on reproduction to keep itself going. Does it matter that an heir to the throne is loved and celebrated for who they are and given therapy for their trauma, as long as the heir exists, reaches adulthood, and one day produces another heir?
Which then opens up another question that I think once again applies to Wilhelm, and maybe Sara as well. If having children is a way to maintain and preserve status for the upper classes, what does that mean for Wilhelm? Can Wilhelm believe his mother loves him, if having children is more a mandate for someone in her position than a choice? This may be a question Wilhelm has to sit with, and itâs possibly something Kristina needs to sit with too. Has Kristina ever considered Wilhelm a loving choice sheâs making, rather than a destiny? I think this would be a great opportunity to explore Kristina as a person, and not just as a royal or a mother.
Meanwhile, having children is expensive and consumes time and energy, and someone who is working class and autistic like Sara is going to have fewer resources to deal with this situation. Luckily, as someone who lives in Sweden, she has safe and reliable access to abortion (glaring at my own horrendous country here) which I imagine will be the option she would end up choosing in that kind of plotline. But that doesnât mean she wonât have to stress over her situation or face gossip or even negative press attention because of it. Not to mention the way Saraâs own conscience may weigh on her, if sheâs pregnant with the child of someone who harmed her brother, her (ex?) best friend, and other people so dramatically? Is there a part of her that would kind of want the child anyway, perhaps in another circumstance? What would it mean, to want that child? This sounds like something Sara and Linda could discuss, and maybe come to understand one another on.
Lisa once said one of the dramatic questions of Young Royals was whether or not people become their parents. If we are going to engage with that question, one way to raise the stakes around it is to make the question of parenthood and reproductive autonomy more real and urgent. Again, Iâm not saying this will happen. This is not a season 3 prediction post. But I do think if it did happen, it would be in line with what weâve seen from the series and its exploration of families and privilege.

Hey comadre! I saw you asked for a fluff request, and I came to deliver đ I think you might be intrigued by the idea!
Shinsou who has been bullied his whole life, with the bullying growing harsher his middle school years. When he begins his high school life in UA, he remains distant, not allowing himself for others to get close to him, and for them to hurt him, because he has developed that trauma. He then successfully transfers over to the Hero Course, and his seat partner is the chubby/curvy girl of the class. She is friendly and welcoming towards him, but he remains to give her the cold shoulder, although he saw her intentions genuine, but he still keeps his guard up. She then goes and sits with him during lunch, her explaining that she understands why he gives off the cold shoulder to his peers. She explains she has underwent being bullied herself, by her weight and such. She tells him that as time passed, she learned to love and accept herself for who she is, and offers to help Shinsou in a similar manner. To help him learn to trust people and she asks if he puked accept her as a friend. He accepts and their friendship grows, with him starting to develop feelings for her, and wants to spend more time with the person who saved him from his own troubles đ
My heart and soul needed this, thank you comadre!đ
(I may or may not have used some of my personal experience being body shamed in here so....yeah, thats your heads up.)

TW: Mentions of bullying, Mentions of Body Shaming, Leading on
He remembered the constant laughter that was present in his life. Everyone would assumed it was a great childhood but to him, to someone like him, it was never the paradise that it was thought to be. The laughter was at him not with him. Kids pointed their fingers towards him and blamed him for all of the problems that would happen throughout the school day.
âI didnât do it!â As a child, he didnât know any better. He assumed that he could scream and yell like every other kid and be listened to. He found out quickly that he didnât get that right. The teacher quickly told him off and called his parents. They came to pick him up from school and started to ask all kinds of questions. Did your quirk go off? Why did you do it? Is it that hard to listen? He didnât bother to try to make connections after that. Friends were a waste of time. A liability. An opportunity to suffer unnecessarily.
When Shinsou reached middle school he suffered from the increase of villain comments. His quirk became the center of attention, it didnât matter if he had good grades or was nice to people. His quirk was the focus, always was.
âYou can get away with everything you want!â Heâs heard that one about a million times already. It always managed to irritate him how much people cared about what he did with it. He hated the eyes. The voices. It only made his internal monologue become aggressive with himself. The constant reminder that he was less than the others for being born with a quirk that used people. It made him want to scream his head off.
âYeah, Iâm aware. Um, can we stop talking about it now?â He wasnât a pushover but he knew that he could just say what he wanted. He purposefully asked a question to get the other student to stop talking without using his quirk. The last tithing he wanted was for someone to accuse him of using his quirk on them.
That night, Shinsou worked on his homework at his desk. His parents were away on a work trip so he had the entire house to himself. He looked at the time and groaned when he realized it was already one in the morning. He walked into his bathrooms and looked for his toothbrush. When he looked up at the mirror, ready to brush his teeth, he couldnât help and stare at himself. His eyes held bags under them, dark and heavy as if he hadnât slept in days. The faint smudging of the eyeliner he put on only making his eyes look even worse. He was tired and alone. His parents werenât there to comfort him and with his quirk making it difficult to connect with others, he had no one to speak with other than himself. He dropped his hand down and just stared at his reflection. The image became hazy as he continued to stare back at it.
His face felt warm. He couldnât stop the river that flowed down his face. He didnât ask for his quirk, he also didnât ask to be born. Shinsou couldnât stop the rattling within his chest nor the stuttered gasps as he tried to breathe. He looked up at his reflection again, this time noticing the red and swollen eyes that belong to him. That night, Shinsou laid down to sleep on top of the covers and stared blindly at the uncovered window. He vowed to never become attached again. Not to classmates, not to family, and definitely not any possible friends.
Going to UA was a dream come true for him, the ability to be closer to your heroic dreams was closer than ever, but not for him. Shinsou had to watch as the heor course students acted like entitled brats, everyone in the school bowing to them like they were some great thing. He hated watching them boast, hated everything about them, to be honest. He wanted nothing to do with them, so why did they want something to do with him?
âUh, sorry but I was wondering if youâd like to sign this petition?â Shinsou looked up from the book he was reading and stared straight towards the holder of the voice. It was a short chubby girl with a clipboard in her hands. She looked at him expectantly, waiting for his answer to her question.
âNo thanks.â
âItâs for a local shelter, itâll help abused and abandoned pets find a good home-â Shinsou wanted to be left alone. He sighed out loud and closed his book while rubbing his eyes, the eyeliner smudging.
âI said no. Now leave me alone.â Shinsou watched as the girl flinched at his annoyed voice.
âS-sorry, Iâll just leave you alone.â She quickly walked away from him, nearly entering a jog as she left him behind. Shinsou couldnât help but become disappointed with himself. The girl was being nice to him and he snapped at her. She wasnât even benign annoying, he just felt tired. He could hear how some people around him mumbled about the exchange he packed his things up and left towards his class.
He did see the girl again from time to time. He found out she was in the hero course and that she was in the A class as well. He would spot her on occasion but he did interact with her during his hero course admissions test. She wore her hero costume with pride and honestly, he had to look away for a moment, she looked like power itself. He couldnât help feel intimidated in her presence. She didnât come up to him yet so he had to come up to her. He intended on apologizing for his behavior a few months back, he didnât mean to snap at her and he never found the opportunity to do so.
You watched as the indigo-haired boy awkwardly made his way towards your group. He wouldnât meet anyoneâs eyes but instead focused on the floor below him.
âHi, Iâm Shinsou Hitoshi.â He extended his hand out to you but you just stared at him like he grew a second head. He felt awkward again, he was expecting you to at least call him a dick but the silence made his stomach become tight.
âNice to meet you Shinsou, Iâm L/n Y/n.â You felt bad for being quiet for too long, you couldnât help it. He was really pretty to look at especially since he wore eyeliner that sharpened the appearance of his eyes.
âOh, uh yeah. I um, wanted to apologize for my attitude a while back. It was rude of me and uhh, I know that saying I was in a mood isnât a good excuse but-â
âItâs fine, I get it. I can be annoying so itâs ok.â You gave him a bright smile and a clap on the back of his shoulder.
He tensed when he felt the heat of your hand on him, he couldnât help but lean slightly into it. His ears reddened and not wanting to embarrass himself more than he did already, he quickly pulled his mask up to cover his ears and face.
âNo- yeah- I mean no, you- you werenât annoying, I was just in a mood and it accidentally let it out on you. Sorry about that.â He rubbed the back of his neck and looked at you briefly. You just smiled at him again and got closer to his person.
âHey, do you mind if i-â You grabbed the bottom part of his mask and pulled it down slightly, your face closer than ever before to his own. He stopped breathing as you got closer, he couldnât help but feel self-conscious about his breath. He smelled like coffee and for some reason, it made him feel embarrassed if you were to found out about his dependency of it.
You reached out with your pinky and brushed some of the black flakes of his eyeliner away from his upper cheek. You blended the smudged eyeliner on the bottom of his eye out and pulled his mask up again to cover his face.
âThere! Just wanted to clean up your makeup. Itâs really well done, by the way, wish I could do my own eyeliner as clean as your own. Do you wear eyeshadow on the bottom lid or is it just eyeliner with you?â You werenât mocking him for his dressing and styling choices, many of his old classmates did.
He told you about what products he uses and yes, he did use eyeshadow for his bottom lid. You just smiled at him and occasionally added what you used. He enjoyed talking to you, you were nice to him and allowed him to speak his mind. He couldnât help but want to know more about you. Unfortunately, your conversation had to come to an end since his group was the first one up, but you both agreed to talk after all matches were over.
His second year at UA was better but he still felt awkward around everyone. Everyone, discluding Bakugou, was nice to him. You especially made it your duty to be around him all the time. He enjoyed your company but he found himself still pushing away from him at times. The constant lingering feeling of possible betrayal being prominent in all of your interactions. It didnât matter how many times you helped him do his makeup or how many times he did your own, didnât matter if he showed you his favorite video games to play, nor if he introduced you to his parents and had you in his room playing those same games with him for hours. He was still nervous, paranoid that youâll stab him in the back. Scared that youâll turn around and show your true colors. That youâll take everything you know about him and tell everyone so you could all mock him again.
Shinsou, due to his fears, started to pull away from you. No more hanging out with him, no more doing each otherâs makeup, no more eating lunch together. Shinsou ignored you every time you tried to speak with him, always turning himself away from you or being rude in some manner. It did discourage you at times, made you feel like you were back in middle school with the cute guys in your grade only speaking with you to make fun of your interests afterward. You thought that maybe he was going to be different but you guessed not. You kept away from him as you processed the situation but that also gave you the chance to watch him. You noticed that instead of sitting with your guyâs other classmates he would op to sit on his own within the cafeteria at a faraway table or somewhere else. You noticed that he not only avoided you but the rest of your classmates. He was back to how he was in his first year.
You couldnât keep watching him be alone again, you didnât want to leave him alone. You made up your mind and made your way towards Shinsou. He was sitting outside of the cafeteria eating his lunch while reading a book that was placed on his lap. He looked tense as he continued to read and nervous at any sound that made itself known. You felt bad for him, from what he told you about his own school experience, more of the lack of, you assumed that he was bullied for his quirk. He never used it on you and he never spoke much about it. He never gave you any details and never told you how his quirk activities, he just avoided the conversation entirely but he was always excited to listen to your own though.
âShinsou.â You watched as the male jumped in his spot on the floor and direct himself towards you.
âShinsou, can we talk for a bit?â He averted his eyes and began to pick his things from the floor, shaking his head as he did.
âN-no, sorry. I have to go-â You got in his way and crouched down to meet him at eye level.
âI know you have nowhere to be at. Please, talk to me for a bit.â You placed your hand on his own and stared at him. Shinsou didnât want to meet your eyes. He didnât want to see the disgust in them or the hatred you felt for him.
What he didnât expect was for you to place your hand on his cheek and gently guide his gaze to your own. His eyes were wide and watery, he didnât understand why you were being so gentle, so kind with him. Didnât you want to be angry with him? Your own eyes were soft, a small smile present on your face.
âShinsou, whatâs wrong?â Your voice was gentle and your touch never leaving him. He took in a breath and spilled everything and all of his troubles to you. Once he finished, he was welcomed by a hug.
You pulled him into your own body and shared your warmth with him. You gently brushed his wild hair as you allowed him to cry to his heartâs content. He needed someone to listen to him, someone who would just let him talk. You were that person for him. Once he felt better, he pulled away from your person and rubbed his eyes. His eyeliner was running and smudging severely on his face. He pouted slightly at his destroyed makeup but then looked at your uniform. You had black smears all over your jacket and shirt.
âI-iâm sorry L/n. I didnât mean to ruin your uniform.â You just chuckled and shook your head at him.
âItâs fine Shinsou, you needed to let it all out.â He began to take deeper breaths and eventually sat next to you. His head gently laying on top of your own.
âIt⌠it was frustrating you know? I thought that I was the problem and I still feel like I am at times.â
âI get what you mean, I also had to deal with bullies.â Shinsou lifted his head and looked at you confused. You had to deal with bullies? Why? You were nice to everyone, why would anyone want to hurt you?
âI think itâs obvious as to why Shinsou.â Shit, did he say that out loud?
âYes, you did.â You gave him another smile and took his hand. You compared him to your own. Your hand was smaller than his own but it was rounder, chubbier, just like the rest of you. You found it adorable how different the both of you were.
âIâm overweight, man. People tend to hold a preconceived idea of what overweight people are like.â Shinsou still couldnât understand.
âSo? Why would anyone bully you for something you donât have all that much control over?â
âBecause theyâre mean. Itâs a power trip for them.â You began to play with his fingers, taking note of the muscles that you werenât aware existed within them.
âI used to have a crush on this guy and for the longest time, my classmates made fun of me because of it. They always said that I was too fat for him or that id hurt him if I leaned onto him. Typical mean comments about my appearance and how I was unloved.â Shinsou began to frown and got closer to you. His body heat becoming a welcoming presence to you as you recounted your own struggles.
âThen one day he asked me to hang out with him. We ate lunch together and we spent time together. I thought he was interested in me just like I was interested in him. He once got close to my face and made it look like he was about to kiss me before reaching for something behind me. We laughed it off as an accident but I noticed the small blush on his face. I was excited.â You pressed on each of his fingernails and wiggled his fingers in between your pointer and thumb.
âI thought that this was it, he liked me back. Our school dance came and everyone was asking out their dates for it. I thought he was going to ask me to go with him but that didnât happen. He pulled me towards him in the middle of class with everyone watching us, a lot of the other girls were jealous of me because of it.â You noticed the chipped nails polished on his nails and began to scratch it off.
âHe cupped my face and pulled me closer to him. We were going to kiss.â You stopped playing with Shinsous hand. Your hand falling onto the ground limply.
âHe gripped my face and pushed me away saying âDid you really think id like you? Youâre such a joke L/n.â â You pulled away from Shinsou, your hand rested on your lap instead of anywhere near his.
âI felt so alone, so gross, soâŚ.fat. It hurt but it was made worse because it was in front of everyone. Everyone saw how he treated me and made fun of me. No one did anything, not even as I ran away crying. Instead, I got comments about my weight. I got called some really mean names that day and the following. I didnât go to my schoolâs dance, I didnât want to be made fun of again.â You didnât hear a thing from Shinsou. He just sat there looking at you like you were crazy.
âTheir assholes.â
âI know.â You looked at him and smiled. He came closer to you, grabbing your hand from your lap and interlacing them in one another.
âBut I donât feel like that anymore. I donât care is a better way to phrase it. People can have their opinions, either nice or mean. I canât dictate that.â Shinsou scooted closer to you as you continued talking.
âBut I can dictate the way I think about myself and the people I want to be around me.â Shinsou couldnât help himself anymore.
He leaned in towards you and placed his hand on your cheek. His lips gently pressing onto your own and unmoving. You felt your heart fluttered but it quickly turned to amusement. He just pressed his lips to yours and wasnât moving, He wasnât moving. He had his eyes closed and pressed into you, it was beginning to bruise your lips. You pulled back slightly and looked at his face. He had his lips still puckered and his eyes closed. You giggled and quickly kissed him again before he pulled away. You on the other hand did move and deepened the kiss.
Shinsous heart soured as you kissed him back, his lips no longer hurting but feeling gently caressed by your own. He couldnât help the small gasps that escape him nor the way he pulled you closer to him. When the two of you parted, Shinsou looked at you with sleepy eyes. He wanted this and he wanted more.
âI like you L/n.â
âI like you too Shinsou.â

romanced hancock reacting to pregnant sole? (obviously not his baby, but a donor's haha)
Hancock x Pregnant! F!Sole Headcannons:
Oh look! I've been enabled yet again! No, but this is great though, I love thinking about happy companions starting a family with Sole â¤
Also, if y'all want any headcannons or anything for companions as parents please hmu, cuz my brain just naturally seems to consider that after doing these pregnancy prompts anyway đ
Anyway, thanks for the ask, I hope you enjoy!
The ghoul always wondered whether or not his tear ducts would still work after his whole ordeal, and the news that the love of his life was ready and willing to start a family with him would certainly seek to find out. As soon as she gave the word that the donorship had worked, Hancock would be grinning wide and tearfully, with upturned brows and a trembling lip. Unable to speak at first, he would pull an equally tearful Sole into the tightest hug he could muster, their bodies flush, his arms enveloping his love as his roughened cheek pressed insistently against her smooth one. âYou just made me the happiest ghoul in the whole damn world, you know that, sunshine?â Heâd say just before touching his lips to her cheek in a long, drawn out, tender kiss. (The action may or may not escalate into a long trail of kisses spanning across Sole's entire face as mirthful giggles escape her lips.)
Who would've thought that this was in the cards for him? Certainly not Hancock. He thought he was lucky enough just to be in the presence of someone like Sole, but for her to return the feelings he had for her? To enthusiastically agree to being in a relationship with him? To want to start a family together? Hancock was sure he was dead, or riding the wildest high of his life, for how could this be reality for someone like him? A junkie, a bachelor, a coward, a ghoul, a flimsy torn page with "bad news" written all over it. Nah, he didn't deserve this, but damn was he overjoyed at the fact that Sole thought he did, and who was he to question her judgement?
Hancock had never thought this would be possible, the whole "baby" thing⌠even though he knew about donors and such, he always thought it would be too painful for Sole to consider having a family again. And with him? Of all the folks in the Commonwealth and beyond, she wanted the infamous ghoulified mayor of Goodneighbor to be a father? To her kid? He was fucking ecstatic. He didnât quite understand why she wanted to raise a baby with him, why she thought heâd be any good at it, if she thought that. He knew he wouldnât be the perfect fit for this kinda lifestyle; that he knew for certain, but the fact that she wanted him to try⌠that shit made his whole body tingle with warm gratitude from the inside out.
He would try to be calm, collected, and altogether nonchalant about the whole process in order to keep Sole relaxed. From finding the donor, to the fertilization, to the pregnancy, and all the way through to Sole going into labor, he would try to be as calm and cool as a November night. And on the outside, he'd do a damn good job, but inside? Nah, inside, this ghoul's worried sick. If anything went wrong with his sunshine, he wouldn't know what to do, he's not sure he could take a blow like that.
So, heâd try not to think too much about what could go wrong, since he knew that would only make it harder for him to be there for Sole in the way that she needed, but occasionally heâd just have those kinda days. A bad trip, a fitful night fraught with horrific dreams, a bout of horrifying overthinking as Sole uttered a pained sound from one little thing or another, or a stint of morning sickness that seemed to last just a bit too long for his liking. All of these would have the poor mayor on edge. Normally, when he was stressed, Hancock would try to chill out with some jet, or calmex, but he really was trying to give up the junkie life to the best of his irradiated abilities. It was a vicious cycle of anxiety every once in a while, but Sole was always there to help him through it. To remind him that this wasnât her first experience with having a baby, to tell him that he was doing a wonderful job, despite his anxieties, and to remind him that they were the Sole Survivor and the Mayor of fucking Goodneighbor, and that they could face damn near anything when they were together.
Those were only the bad days though. On the good days, oh, hon... Hancock was simply blissful. Sole really is in for a treat, as she is absolutely 100% pampered and loved on, coddled and looked after for 9 months straight, and then some (minus the couple of bad days, where she has to be the one doing the coddling, but really, how could she mind?). As soon as the pair finds out that Sole really is going to have this baby, Hancock is already offering her anything she may need in order to stay safe and comfortable for the next 9 months.
Hancockâs chill personality really shines when it comes to any mood swings Sole may have, and a lifetime of chem and alcohol use has rendered the ghoul particularly skilled at cooking foods that are comforting and easy to make/eat that come in handy after bouts of morning sickness. Who knew that all of his hangover experience would come in handy like this?
While Hancock loves nothing more than going on adventures in the Commonwealth alongside his beloved, he wouldnât say it in so many words, but would be more reluctant than usual to leave Goodneighbor or Soleâs house. When, before, he would have leapt up at the prospect of hunting down some goons and making the world a better place through some good ole fashioned violence, Hancock couldnât think of anything worse than having Sole get injured, or potentially losing the one he loves more than anything in the world, and the possibility of a future family with her if some shit went wrong. So, while he absolutely knows she is capable and an complete beast in combat, and he recognizes that Sole canât stay cooped up indoors for the whole 9 months, (and letâs face it, he certainly doesnât want to either, but heâs not about to leave his love behind so he can get outta the house once in a while) he definitely steers the pair away from the areas he knows to be more sketchy than others.
Hancock just loves showing Sole off. He did this before the pregnancy as well, but man, now if anyone comes up to the pair when she starts showing, you know Hancock is already beaming as he tells the inquiring stranger just how far along she is, whether itâs a boy or a girl (if they know), or even what they think the babyâs gender is if they donât want to know/canât find out, how often the baby has been kicking, and he may even ask for opinions on baby names from certain kind folks who come up to chat with the parents-to-be. Itâs also quite likely that he uses these passer-byes as an indirect way to further compliment Sole, saying things to them like, âDoesnât she look gorgeous?,â âJust look at how she glows,â or âItâs just incredible how you/these ladies do this, isnât it? Damn it if she's not the strongest person I know,â just to showcase his admiration for her. Does it sometimes result in strange looks from the strangers? Of course. Does Hancock care, or even seem to notice? Not remotely. He's too busy gawking at the love of his life and her blushing, embarrassed glory.
The mayor tends not to be rude about it unless the person ignores him, but if he notices someone smoking nearby, he will ask them to put out whatever it is, or to simply move if he and Sole were there first. In addition to that, he will make quite the lifestyle change for himself, voluntarily giving up chems to the best of his abilities so long as withdrawals don't prevent him from caring for Sole, and when he does partake, Hancock wonât do it around her, heâll move outside or to another room. He would also offer to give up alcohol, since he knows that she wonât be able to drink with him anyway, and leave it up to her if she wants him to go cold turkey like her. Even if she doesnât mind, he still wonât drink in excess around her during her pregnancy. It's kind of a respect thing for him, and there ain't no one he respects more than the future mother of his child.
(little bit of NSFW content here) When it comes to sex, Hancock is even more generous than usual in the bedroom (if you can believe it's possible). His every movement acts as a tribute to his appreciation for the woman he loves more than life itself. Heâd be sure to be gentle, but in all honesty, Hancock wouldnât change anything too much (no need to fix what ain't broken, ya know?). He has always paid particular attention to Sole beneath the sheets, since heâs quite experimental, and comfortable with most kinks and things himself, so he tends to let her choose positions, location, duration, and pacing, and would definitely keep it this way during the pregnancy. You think this man used to really get into body worship before, this is just a whole nuther level. As Sole puts on weight later into her pregnancy, he takes full advantage of her swelling plushness, running his hands over her body, taking the time to squeeze and palm every bit of her growing softness, constantly complimenting every bit of her as his starving eyes eat up every inch of her beauty. Especially if Sole is self-conscious about any of the changes in her body, Hancock will be sure to constantly remind her that sheâs the most captivating and gorgeous person heâs ever met. No stretch mark appears on her body without being lovingly kissed, no soreness will develop without the offer of a nice, long massage (this perhaps is just another excuse to get his hands on her), no tenderness will go unnoticed and will be accounted for when his hands are roaming her body. In general, heâs as loving and doting as ever, but he's also on high alert for any signs of pain or discomfort coming from his other half.
Heâd be SO excited every time the baby kicked. For some reason, the babe seems to wait until heâs around to do it, and heâs thrilled. Sole is a little weirded out by it, but she honestly takes it as a good sign. But oh man, Hancock's hands will be all up in that shit, not wanting to miss a thing as Sole smiles at him like this isn't the fourth time this has happened in one evening (does he use this as yet another excuse to touch Sole? Hmm, who knows [the answer is yes]). Sometimes he forgets to be sympathetic when Sole can't sleep due to the fluttering in her belly, but his roughened hands smoothing rhythmically over her stomach throughout the night might just help her catch a few Zzs after all.
Heâs admittedly quite nervous as she approaches labor, becoming ever more protective as her belly swells to its largest point, ensuring she avoids any kinda gun fight, crazy high heights or unneeded stress, and he would be adamant about Sole sitting out any outings, missions, or other activities in the dangers of the Commonwealth. But man, would he make an environment she didnât want to leave. Pillows, snacks, dim lighting, good conversation, music, soft touches, compliments galore, and a man who is at her constant beck and call, willing and happy to do anything and everything she might need or want? Yeah, hereâs to say, Sole didnât really want to leave anyway.
By the end of the pregnancy, Hancock has a strange mix of apprehension and denial going on. Heâs used to Sole being pregnant now, he knows how to deal with everything, how to take care of her, what makes her uncomfortable and how to fix it. But a kid? An infant? He doesnât know how babies work, doesnât know how to tell what they want from him. Heâs excited beyond belief at the thought of being a father, but he just doesnât know how to do it. He tries to think back to his own dad, and the way that he was brought up as a kid, (though, he's not sure that's a great frame of reference given the way he turned out) and definitely goes off of Soleâs judgement, but he canât shake the feeling that he was never meant for this. To settle down and have a family. He isnât his dad, heâs Hancock. Heâs not a âfamily man,â not a picturesque pre-war looking man with a normal job and a cookie-cutter backstory; heâs a self-made ghoul, a junkie, a deadbeat whose earned his position of power by bathing in the blood of tyrants who died by his own hand, and shooting his veins up with every kinda poison the wastes have to offer. How do you explain that to a kid? That he made himself the way he is, cuz he couldnât stand the man heâd grown up to be? What the hell kinda example is that? He wouldn't doubt for a second that his baby would be the center of his world from the moment he sees it, but if anything, that only ups the anxiety that he'll do something to mess the kid up. Hancock would be nervous as shit, but if Sole had confidence in him, well⌠he trusts her judgement more than he does his own, so if she thinks heâs "daddy" material, he ainât gonna argue with that. All he can do is hope sheâs right, follow her lead, take it one day at a time, and hope that him trying his absolute hardest will be enough.

Part One | Part Two
_____
Graduation.
Through Beatriceâs 18-years of living, she did not think that the celebration of liberation would be so sour. The day started off like any normal day. That is, except, she did not have to deliberately avoid the areas of the house that her dad, Harry, was in. It was strange that she had to feel uncomfortable in her own home.
For this special event, Beatrice had initially bought only three tickets for Ruby, Caleb and her mum, Y/N. Her dad had a packed schedule of promoting his newest album anyway so Beatrice thought that it wouldnât even matter. She didnât think he would want to come anyway. If Beatrice knew anything about her father is that he never really cared much about what went on in her life.
Beatrice supposes that it was okay. She had a whole lifetime to get used to it. A full lifestyle living on the edge because she didnât know when her dad would clap-back with an insult for no reason. However, it didnât mean that the spike in pain hurt any less. Donât get her wrong; she was grateful for Y/N being around and involved. But Beatrice sometimes wondered how it would feel like to be wrapped in a fatherly embrace or be guided with wisdom and courage.
She really couldnât remember the last time Harry did anything that made Beatrice feel like his daughter. Aside from the family photos they took on during the holidays or when celebrating whatever work achievement he managed to snag--that was the only time where Beatrice would feel Harryâs hand resting on her shoulder.
___
âCan I get one?â Ruby asked, tugging on the coloured strings of Beatriceâs cap. Her small body was being held by her older sister while Y/N took photos of the three siblings.
âCaleb, put your phone away please,â Y/N requested, shaking her head at the way the young boy groaned. Nonetheless, he followed the instruction.
"Youâre lucky I love you or I would not have shown up,â Caleb grumbled, offering a sweet smile afterwards to suggest that he was joking. The three siblings posed for the camera, Beatrice trying hard not to let Ruby tilt her square cap.
Between a plastered smile, Beatrice replied, âProbably why dad isnât here,â
Caleb widened his eyes significantly. Though, it seemed conspicuous to Y/N who was busy figuring out how to brighten the screen.
âThatâs not true, sissy. Heâs just busy,â
Beatrice chuckled, shrugging off the comforting hand of her younger brother, âAlways busy but never when one of you have something going on,â
âItâs just a coincidence,â
âYeah, sure,â
Caleb frowned at her response, focusing her attention on Rubyâs babbles. He almost spilled the surprise that their dad was going to watch Beatrice cross the stage. Caleb knew how his sisters felt about Harry and he hoped that his appearance would help patch things up between them.
Caleb walked over to Y/N, âAre you sure that Dadâs coming?â
Y/N nodded, âYes, he said heâs looking for parking now,â
Caleb bit his lip nervously, âDo you think sheâll be surprised?â
ââ
âGraduate with honours, Beatrice Y/LN,â
Applause filled the venue as Beatrice walked up the steep steps of the stage. A shy smile was placed on her lips when she caught sight of the projector screen showcasing her achievements for her senior year.
In the audience, both Harry and Y/N were confused as to why Beatrice used her mother's name to be announced. The cinch in Y/Nâs brow smoothed out when the principal continued speaking. Harry, however, couldnât help the questioning frown.
âTop Chemistry. Top Biology. Overall Best Science Student. Gold Volunteer Badge. Level 4 Music Theory. Beatrice has been excelling both academically and musically while serving the community,â
Beatrice squinted at the bright lights, placing her diploma and speech on the podium. She had never been good at public speaking. However, her announced name gave Beatrice newfound confidence. Itâs just her. All her achievements wouldnât be credited to her father just because he was Harry Styles.
âHi, uh,â She cleared her throat, âIâm Beatrice Y/LN and Iâm very honoured to be standing in front of you today,â
Her speech was short and to the point; thanking her fellow classmates even though there were very few to thank personally. There were a few jokes in between and some nostalgic memories about various school events throughout the year. Beatrice mentioned remarks to her teachers who helped her achieve high grades. Lastly, she thanked her family for supporting  her
âIâd like to thank my family. My brother, Caleb. My sister, Ruby and my Mum. You guys have been so wonderful to me and I hope that I made you proud,â
Y/N was tearing up with a hand clasped over her mouth. She could not believe that her oldest daughter was off to university in a few weeks. Beatriceâs work ethic was unmatched and it showed in her getting the recognition that she deserved.
There was a pregnant pause before applause filled the space again. Despite switching her name last minute, everyone in her school knew that Beatrice was a Styles kid. They were probably waiting for her to mention him in her speech. But Beatrice felt no need to mention the man that had done nothing for her. He wasnât even here.
âThank you and congratulations, everyone!â
Harry slumped lower in his seat. He could feel Y/Nâs worried eyes and Calebâs observant gaze inspecting his face.
____
Beatrice stood beside her family, watching Harry a few metres away who was currently busy attending to the fans that recognized him. Even with his graying hair, many parents greeted him with a reminiscing statement about how they âsaw him in concert back in the dayâ, to which he would chuckle at and proceed to converse for a few minutes until their child--Beatriceâs age--tugged them away.
All that Beatrice wanted to do was to get home and interact with her online friends. She had mentioned that she was graduating today and they were all very proud of her. Beatrice would rather take the peace and quiet of her own room than a bustling party.
âYouâre invited,â Emma, a popular girl, stated while handing her a piece of paper with all the details of the party. Beatrice mumbled a hushed âthanksâ, despite knowing that she wouldnât even attend it in the first place.
âAre you going, Tris?â Y/N asked, holding Rubyâs hand so the youngest child would not get lost in the crowd.
Beatrice shook her head ânoâ, explaining that there was no point.
âI donât know anyone there anyway,â
She was kind of a loner, but Beatrice was happier by herself anyways. âBesides, I donât think dad will agree. Itâs way past curfew,â
Y/N nodded in understanding. The curfew set for their eldest child was at nine in the evening. Y/N was sure that Harry would be lenient to let Beatrice go; it was her graduation after all. Sooner or later, Beatrice would be leaving for university.
____
Beatrice should be grateful. She should be happy, yet somehow those emotions were non-existent to her brain right now. She should be smiling, eyes brimming with tears because her dad actually cared to throw a party for her. But all she could feel right now was a pure disappointment and agonizing anger because Beatrice knows that he was trying to make up for years of mistreatment.
At this moment, the rowdiness of the party only proved that Harry really did not know anything about Beatrice. She did not know over half the people here, aside from the few relatives they see during the holidays; her grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. The rest were recognizable from Harryâs industry. Beatrice swore she saw Lizzo sipping a cup of liquor in their kitchen.
Aside from the initial greeting of âcongratulationsâ, paired with the large banister taped on the foyer of the house, this party wasnât much of a celebration based on Beatriceâs milestone in life. If anything, it looked like a regular get together for celebrities and industry people. Frankly, she had no interest in interacting with them. As rude as it may sound, the swirling turmoil of emotions beginning from her stomach made Beatrice push past the packed crowd with a tight-lipped smile in order to get to her room.
She felt like she couldnât breathe, especially knowing that these people in her house absolutely adored Harry. They saw him as a family man, loved and appreciated by his kids. It wasnât a complete lie, per se. Beatrice just didnât have much experience to confirm that he was, in fact, a lovable and caring person.
If she had to put a finger on it, Beatrice was feeling utter disgust. She was disgusted because Harry was the perfect person in their eyes when everything he had shown her was that she was someone that didnât deserve any of his attention. It felt like this was a celebration of her dadâs façade--he was not actually proud of her. He was just making it seem like he is so he wouldnât be perceived as the dead-beat dad.
A knock at her door sounded. It was almost as if Beatrice could sense her dadâs presence without turning around to look at who just entered the privacy of her room.
âTris?â Harry whispered, hesitating on mumbling the nickname. He had never done it willingly before, much less not as bitter as the previous times.
Beatrice swore that she could practically see the venom slithering on his tongue every time he said her name. But maybe that was just her skewed perception.
The chair that she was sitting on creaked as she shifted her weight, leaning her elbows on her desk.
âWhy did you even throw a party, dad?â
It was merely a genuine question that held so many underlying meanings. Why now? Why not earlier when there was still hope to fix whatever sort of broken and fucked up relationship they had with each other?
Harry fully stepped into the room, observing the walls decorated with art and artists whom he recognized were his friends. He didnât realize that she was a fan of Florence Pugh.
He cleared his throat with a fist to his mouth, âI wanted to celebrate your graduation,â
Beatrice internally rolled her eyes, âDid you really? Because you havenât been there when I needed your help with my homework or assignments or anything. Now, Â suddenly you want to act like you were a big part of how I achieved my accomplishments?â
It was a sour realization. It was accurate that Harry refused to help her with schoolwork. He swore that he was busy looking over new options for his upcoming projects. Retrospectively, he might have subconsciously spewed out excuses so that he wouldnât be able to help his dear daughter.
Beatrice sighed, flattening the balls of her palms against the edge of the sleek wood, pushing the rolling wheels of the chair back. She stood up.
âJust admit it. You threw the party because you felt guilty and you think that somehow, everything will magically be okay between us?â Beatrice shot him a questioning look, chest-puffing when Harryâs lack of words confirmed her theory.
Beatrice propped her feet in the middle of her room, twisting her body so that her back was facing away from the closed-door; from him. She breathed heavily through her nose, lungs rising up and down as she gathered her thoughts.
Unbelievable.
Harry stood with his arms by his sides, staring at his daughter with curious compassion. He did not know what to say, nor did he know how to act because he didnât take the time to get to know her. He didnât spend time with Beatrice; nurturing, caring, calming or comforting her because he simply couldn't get over the fact that she was once a person that caused calamity in his life.
âTris,â Her dad spoke, earning a pinch of her facial expression from the familiarity of the nickname. Yet, it was unfamiliar because Harry used it mundanely.
Beatrice cut him off, âIâll be leaving for university in a few weeks. You can quit pretending like you care. You say this graduation party is for me but I donât even know most of the people here!â
The volume of her voice reached a threshold that should warn both of them to keep quiet. However, Beatrice knew that with the hustle and bustle of the celebration going on downstairsâno one would hear her honesty except for her and Harry.
Harry blinked twice, mouth dropping slightly agape. Why did he throw this party? He knew his intentions; he was proud of his daughter. He wanted to show her off to everyone he knew about how intelligent and well-rounded Beatrice was.
The girl continued speaking as if reading Harryâs train of thought.
âThis is for you,â She spoke bitterly as if her tongue was left with an odd taste in her mouth. âShowing off a âtrophyâ daughter who graduated with honours but that doesnât matter, does it? Nothing I ever do will match what youâve done.â
The accompanying laughâalbeit, sarcasticâ left Harry confused.
âWhat? No, this is for you. Iâm proud of you,â Harry quickly disagreed with Beatrice, gesturing his large hands in a wave to emphasize his words.
She turned around with gentle disbelief; her features were hardened yet Beatriceâs eyes gleamed with hope. She wanted so badly to believe her dad, but his lack of attentiveness to her led Beatrice to roll her eyes at him instead.
âCut the crap, Dad,â
âLanguage,â Harry added, pursing his lips when Beatrice scoffed.
âI canât believe this,â Beatrice muttered, she stared at the ground as if picking out the words to say.
As bad as it sounded, she wanted to hurt her dad the way he did to her. Years of being treated like an unwanted child slowly built up inside of her and Beatrice wanted the pain to end.
âYou wanted to be everything so bad that you forgot to be my Dad,â
âI am your dad, Tris,â Harry watched as she walked over to her desk. Fingers cascading the glass picture frame which held a still of their family.
âDonât you think I know that?â Beatrice turned around, throwing the edged frame on her bed in a fit of anger.
Harryâs brows shot up to his forehead, watching his daughterâs eyes well up with tears.
âYou are my dad but youâve never been one to me! Why is that? Huh?â Beatrice pressed, crossing her arms and digging her fingernails on the skin of her bicep.
âIâm sorry that I took those opportunities away from you. You got movie deals, You had an album coming out. Tours, shows, moneyâyou had everything and I ruined it, didnât I? As you said, it wouldâve been better if I wasnât born,â
Harry was no stranger to not interrupting someone when they spoke. However, he couldnât let Beatrice believe the words she spoke.
âDonât say that! Thatâs not true,â He stuttered over his words, heart-shattering under the weight of Beatriceâs truthfulness. Sure, he had everything, but it didnât mean that he was satisfied.
âBut you thought about it right? You wondered how different it would be if I wasnât born at the wrong time. Maybe you wouldâve loved me moreâlike you do Caleb and Ruby,â Beatrice smiled sadly.
She was glad that at least her siblings would not have to experience the searing pain of being unappreciated. They did not deserve to be seen through like a ghost.
âMaybe you wouldâve paid more attention to me. Maybe you would have cared that I was hurting every time you showed me nothing but disdain,â
Beatrice used her forearm to wipe away the tears beginning to soak her reddened cheeks. She sighed, plopping down at the foot of her bed, watching Harry look at her with an unreadable emotion on his face.
âYou know, Itâs not my responsibility to ask why,â Beatrice whispered. Though, she wondered what would have happened if she did question her dad why he looked at her as if she was a burden in his life.
Beatriceâs monologue crescendoed as utter pain cracked her voice every now and then. Her figure slouching as she truly experienced what it was like to let go of the turmoiled affliction soaring through her body.
âIâm your child! Youâre the one whoâs supposed to be looking out for me. Youâre the one whoâs supposed to show me what love is supposed to feel like. Iâve always wondered how youâd react if I came home with a boyfriend like all the movies and books talk about. But, all youâve shown and made me feel was my first heartbreak when youâre supposed to be the one nursing me from it,â
At that point, Harry could not remain the eye contact he shared with his daughter, gazing down at the floorboard in shame.
âYou were supposed to scare guys off because Iâm your eldest daughter. Youâre supposed to protect me from everything that could hurt me, even when itâs irrational because that is what Dads do,â
That same bitter laugh that pierced Harryâs ears earlier echoed again.
âBut I guess you never really wanted to become one to begin with. Or maybe just not with me.â
Harry took a few steps back. Her words figuratively churned and twisted his gut. He caught his balance on the doorknob that moved feverishly under his weight. Sure, he didnât want to be her dad at first. And he had many chances to fix a strained relationship, but he never took them. So really, he had no shield at denying the truth. He was simply a father who failed to be the dad to Beatrice.
âI-I do! I want to be--if you'd let me,â He hated the way his voice became weary.
Despite their differences, Beatrice and Harry both mutually hated the way his tone pinched. The way he had to plead and beg for his daughterâs forgiveness when it seemed to be too late. This could have been avoided if Harry took the chance to become the dad that Beatrice deserved to have. The dad that her siblings--Caleb and Ruby--saw and spent time with while Beatrice watched behind, wondering why she was never treated the way they did.
âFor years, I wondered what was wrong with me. I listened to the music that you liked. I asked mum what you enjoyed doing because you never talk to me. I wanted you to see me as a daughter instead of this--this invisible speck that you shrug off your shoulder every time I needed you!â Beatrice cried out, hugging herself for comfort.
The worst part was that she could see Harryâs legs buckle in hesitation to come closer to her or not. He shouldnât even have to think to comfort his daughter, but he did.
âI wanted you to like me as if I even have to do that in the first place! Youâre my dad, donât you get it? Because I didnât. I spent so much time being the perfect child in hopes of you giving me an ounce of your attention aside from the face you put on when I walked into the room. Why did you have to treat me this way, huh?â
Tears spilled from her forest-green eyes, identical to Harryâs glazed ones. His mouth parted in retaliation. As if he was plopped in quicksand, Harry had no idea how to defend himself.
âI know that you didnât want me in the first place but--,â Beatrice sniffled, wiping the salty liquid to her damp temples, âI just wished you treated me like I wasnât a burden to you,â

The 101 Deaths of Danny Phantom
AO3 link
One of the first things people learned about dealing with ghosts, other than not to try and date them, is to never asks about their death or obsessions. That doesnât mean the citizens of Amity Park arenât curious though, especially about their resident ghostly hero and the confusing and concerning comments he sometimes makes.
âAre you okay?â Phantom asked Maisie as she shook and tried to hold back tears after that car had almost slammed into her. She sometimes joked about getting hit crossing the street of her college campus to pay her obnoxious loans but it was another thing entirely to almost experience it herself. Maisie was nearly twenty, she shouldnât be comforted by someone younger than her little step sister but here she was, shaking like a lead and leaning into Phantomâs comforting, chilly touch.Â
âSorry,â she stuttered, âthank you, Iâm sorry Iâm just-â
âHey, itâs okay to be upset that was very scary. The thought of dying is very scary.â Through her adrenaline and her tears, she took in the ghostâs unnatural glow, his faded, barely visible appearance and the fact that he was floating a foot off the ground. Maisie knows this ghost, this boy, knows more than she ever could about death.Â
âAnd getting run over by a car sure is a bad way to go,â the ghost kid chuckled awkwardly, taking his cold hand off her shoulder to scratch at the back of his neck. âYou should see how my dad drives or my mom or my sister if sheâs running late enough,â Phantom paused in thought. âNo one in my family should have a license now that I think about it. Anyway,â he dismissed with a wave.Â
âMy sister and I were getting ready to head out to school and my dad was backing out of driveway too fast and didnât see us and uh, luckily I got my sister out of the way in time haha,â Phantom trailed off awkwardly. Was it because of the uncomfortable conversation or because he noticed her dawning horror.
Her best friend ran the community collegeâs Phan club so Maisie was a member by default. Phantomâs death was sometimes talked about late at night, everything from wrongful murder to a freak accident. She never in her worst nightmares imagined being him being runover in front of his own house by parental ignorance. It was so normal, a quick mistake and a life lost.
âOh my god,â he said with an adorable little green blush. âWhy am I babbling about that? You almost got hit by a car, Iâm probably retraumatizing you or something. I should probably go get the jerk who almost hit you,â he said before disappearing into thin air.Â
âTia is not going to believe this,â she whispered to no one. All she knew is that for the rest of her damned life she was going to look both ways when crossing the street. Sheâd seen first hand what a single moment of reckless driving could cause.

Matthew, not Matt or Matty or Hughie, Matthew shivered from the cold. He was only in his boxers with little Pacman on them. It had been fine when heâd gone to bed considering it was mid-August but Phantom and this stupid flaming mecha ghost had tussled outside the summer camp he was working at. He could see some of the kids snickering at his state of undress though he was just extremely glad they were alive enough to disrespect him like this.
âOh man, Iâm sorry,â the ghost kid said with big, sad eyes that looked so human despite the fact that they were literally glowing. He looked around at all the snow and ice left over from his fight. âJeez you guys must be freezing, I wish I could warm you all up but all I can do is make things colder.â
âSâokay,â Matthew said through his chattering teeth. âTeaching the kids how to start a fire was supposed to be next week but we can get a jump on it.â That got a smile out of the ghost and within a half hour, the other counselors were distributing blankets and hot beverages to the kids clustered around multiple fires. They didnât seem particularly upset by the potentially fatal attack, Matthew will breakdown about that at a later time when he was alone. For now, he just smiled as the children chattered happily with the ghost while he cleaned up as much of the damage as possible.
âSo you spend all day fighting ghosts?â Zoe asked with stars in her eyes.
âA lot of the nights too,â Phantom nodded, âI do other stuff but yeah it seems ghost fighting takes up most of my time.â
âWhereâd you learn those cool powers?â Zuri asked, miming a punch.
âComes with being a ghost,â Phantom shrugged, âmy ice powers came in later though so I still struggle a bit with them but Iâm getting better every day.â
âWhy ice though?â Morris said with his cocked curiously to the side. âI see some ghosts use fire or shadows, why do you have ice?â
âAh thatâs a little personal,â Phantom chuckled but his posture was easy despite the invasive question. âSpecialty powers like my ice require special circumstances and a certain uh connection to the ghost. Someone like me couldnât use fire or electricity or plants, ice is in my soul, itâs who I am.â
Matthew paused in drinking his lukewarm coffee as a horrible thought came to mind. Heâs been an outdoorsman all his life, practically from the time he could walk. Heâd been a deep woods camping guide for a decade before switching to working at summer camps. But the years working in the relative comfort of a stable camp didnât erase his knowledge of how unforgiving and deadly the woods in the winter could be. A grown man, much less a young teen, would freeze to death in 20 minutes if it was cold enough.Â
It made sense for ghosts to develop powers related to their deaths. Had Phantom been one of the dozens of unfortunate kids he read about every year who ran away in the middle of winter only to found later as a frozen corpse. He eyed the boyâs snow white hair and frigid aura he exuded with mournful trepidation. God, what a horrible way to die.Â
âIâd get chilly with ice powers,â Tabby said with a shudder, she held out her cup of cocoa. âYou want some of my cocoa to warm you up?â
âNo thanks,â Phantom said with a soft smile that was warm despite everything. âThe cold hasnât bothered me for a while.â
XxX
Ghost attacks may be the norm but, if there was one good thing that came out of whole mess it was the fact that violent human crimes went down drastically. So when the rare murder did happen, the shock and fear rippled through the whole town.Â
Stanford Newton had only been sheriff of Amity Park for eight months after the last guy had gone gray overnight and moved to Florida the next day. It was a daunting position but one he bore proudly. This wouldnât be his first murder investigation having initially cut his teeth as a beat cop in Chicago but it would be the first in Amity. And it certainly was the first in which the dead served in an active capacity.
âAmanda Chastain, 27. Officially she was a waitress down at Spenglerâs Diner but sheâs been picked up for prostitution twice in the last year,â Stan said calmly, ignoring the cold, angry presence over his shoulder. âHistory of polysubstance abuse as well, not that either of those things mean she deserved this.â Used, beaten to death and then dumped in the trash like yesterdayâs paper.Â
He wondered if sheâd come back a ghost or if sheâd finally get some peace this world hadnât offered her. âWe donât have many leads right now, Iâm afraid. Acting illegally as they are, thereâs not a lot of resources these poor girls have to turn to.â
âIâll find them,â The Phantom said with blazing conviction, his voice thick and sharp as ice. âIâll find and bring them to justice and make sure no one else is hurt again.â
âI believe you,â Stan nodded, shutting his notebook as he finally turned to face the teenage superhero haunting his town. He canât say he liked what he saw. The Phantom looked even less human than usual, his aura flaring and flickering like the foggy mist before a heavy snowstorm. His unnatural green eyes glowered, painting his too young face in a terrifying light.Â
The kid looked furious, clearly taking this death to heart. Heâd read the Fentonâs memos about obsessions and such but this seemed beyond that. âBut donât hurt anyone to do it, or yourself while youâre at it.â
âI wonât, Iâll make sure theyâll face human justice and donât worry,â Phantom gave a snarling smile. âNo mortal can hurt me, not like this,â he growled causing the hairs on Stanâs arms and neck to stand on end. He flew off after that, presumably to track down Amandaâs killer.
âNot like this,â Stan mumbled to him, pulling out his handkerchief and wiping his brow where a cold sweat had broken out. âJesus Christ that poor kid.â Stan had seen plenty of murdered and mutilated bodies in his lifetime, some of them even kids. He just never got to talk to them after theyâd had their life forcibly snatched away. It would explain the ghostâs near fanatical determination to save others, why he took a strangerâs murder so personally.Â
âI hope your own murderer is behind bars,â Stan said as he tucked his handkerchief back into his coat pocket. âOr even six feet under, for killing a good kid like you.â Stan made his way back to his squad car so he could head back to the station and move forward with the official investigation. But heâd eat his hat if there wasnât a stammering lowlife there by tomorrow ready to turn themselves in.
Maybe after all this was settled down, heâd delve into some of the cold cases stacked in the cellar. Maybe in there heâll find a picture of a smiling, carefree teen whoâd disappeared and returned with the power now to ensure no one else suffered as he had.
XxX
âYes, I know about the Phantom,â Luis Oliveira will say to anyone who so much as brings up the ghost kid. Locals know better by now but the tourists eat it up every time. He twists his finely combed mustache and gestures to the floor where his audience is standing. âHe died right there oh ten or eleven years ago.â
Luis has worked his way all across the the United States since he emigrated from Brazil in the 70s. He finally settled in Amity Park about twelve years ago. Heâd never intended to stay in the small Midwest town but the fatal shooting of a young customer kept his little corner market open.
âHe was a nice kid, always said hi to me and paid in exact change. Was big fan of the snacks I made, would stop by after school and take half my inventory. He had big brown eyes and a crooked nose,â Luis would smile at the memory before closing his eyes and frowning sadly. âOne day, he came late. His teacher made him stay after to go over a failed test, I remember he complained. He was pulling out his money when robber burst in, demanding my money. I fumbled for the register key, dropped it. I bent down to grab it and I hear shots going off. Two over my head, another right into the boyâs throat.â
Luis will hear the sound of that sweet boyâs guttural choking sounds as he drowned in his own blood until the day he himself died. The robber left after the shot, Luis called the police and held the young manâs hand as he died. The would be thief were never found and Luis never did learn anything about the boy whoâd died on his floor for getting hungry after school.
âAs soon as I saw Phantom on the TV,â Luis would say, perking up after his moment of somber grief, âI knew it was that boy come back. Those kind eyes, Iâd recognize them anywhere. Heâs never come here but one day he will and I will be able to pass on my regret on not being able to save his life that day.â

âI think he killed himself,â Mikey whispered to Lester during lunch period, angling his voice low. âThe jocks may love Phantom for his powers but I just know he was one of us, an unwanted nerd. Iâve seen him chatting up a ghost Iâm pretty sure is Poindexter, Casperâs suicide kid. Theyâre probably bonding over their similar deaths and the circumstances that led to it.â
âThatâs pretty dark,â Lester whispered back. âI also get unpopular vibes from him but I donât think heâs the time do uh do that to himself; heâs too stubborn and protective. But I bet he was the victim of a prank gone wrong. Dash locked Fenton in the Janitorâs closet last Wednesday, he got out okay somehow but maybe something like that happened to Phantom. He always looks kind of annoyed at the A-listers, maybe they remind him of old bullies.â
âNuh-uh,â Clara said, pushing up her glasses with her middle finger. âThe ghost kid totally got electrocuted or something. He was fighting that weather ghost and he sent lightning bolts his way and Phantom flinched. He fought the Ghost King and yet a little electricity scares him? It might notâve even been a lightning strike but something manmade like a machine backfiring or something.â
âGet real,â Mikey scoffed, sipping his milk with an eyeroll. âIâm sure weâd have heard about some poor kid getting zapped to death; this town isnât that big.â
âWeâd have heard about a suicide too,â Lester noted with a wry grin.
âShut up Mr. I base my theories around Fenton whoâs a known weirdoâ.
XxX
âIâm telling you, the ghost kid died of some debilitating illness,â Abbie McMillian, retired school teacher and three year reigning champ at the Tristate areaâs Daylily Competition. She sipped her tea and spoke with as much confidence as she had back in the day wrangling Amityâs impressionable youths. âThe superhero thing is clear wish childhood fulfillment, a chance to live and be free like he never got to in life. You see how happy and carefree that young man looks while flying? Clearly he spent his formative years sick and weak.â
âNo way,â Greta von Martin frowned as she aggressively stirred her own tea to show her displeasure. âI worked in a hospital for close to 30 years and I know what chronically sick kids look like and Phantom doesnât fit the bill. I will agree heâs carefree when heâs not battling spooks but he acts like a stupid teen. Iâm telling you, the boy got into his parentâs liquor cabinet or took a few too many of whatever pill was going around his school. Tragic but something that happens every day.â
âGreta, dearie,â Abbie said with a pinched frown. âWeâve been friends since grade school and I love you like a sister but you are wrong and until you admit it, I wonât share anymore of my recipes.â
âYouâre just being stubborn because you canât see whatâs right in front of you even after working with kids half of your life, Abbie, love,â Greta sniffed. âAnd you can kiss my grandsonâs help weeding you garden goodbye until you relent.â
XxX
Perhaps one of the most human traits is curiosity, especially about what comes after death. Now the good people of Amity Park know a great deal about the dead so the lives before is what attracts their attention and none so more than the ghost boy. Maybe itâs because heâs their hero or maybe itâs because heâs so young. Or perhaps itâs because Phantom is such a mess of contradictions that itâs very hard to guess how the unfortunate boy met his end. But everyone has their own theories, from the mundane to the fantastic, some with evidence backing them up and others pure poppycock.Â
But for all their curiosity, as much as it burns them to know, theyâll never ask. They donât want to risk the powerful ghostâs wrath but, moreover, it seemed in poor taste. The boy risked his afterlife to keep them safe, they couldnât ask what traumatic and miserable circumstances had led to this point.
And besides, it was so much more fun to look up at ghostly figure as he sped through the skies and wonder.
#danny phantom#my writing#i made a headcanon post and immeaditly said 'i have to write this'#and then I did#tw: suicide mention#there is a non described background death of an OC#opinions are like assholes#everyone has one#and *everyone* has an opinion on how phantom died#some are reasonably close and some are waaaay far off#but they wonder and gossip and argue when the kid cant hear#its human nature

thatâs all {din djarin x reader}
(iâm reposting this bc it wasnât showing up in the tags and it was stressing me out)Â
summary: youâd saved din djarin from himself before. now, with the pain of losing his kid, youâre about to do it all over again. (kinda based on find me here by hayley williams)
warnings: this is...flangst. fluff and angst. swearing. mentions of depression but itâs also a bit â¨positiveâ¨
this is just me trying to be the emotional janitor to...that. iâve tried to keep it as gender neutral as possible but some of the conversation might imply an afab reader but hopefully itâs vague to be completely objective!!
- jazz
anyways i know i already said it but !! spoilers !! spoilers !! spoilers !!
p.s spot the titanic referenceÂ
Grogu was tiny but the whole he left in your lives was massive.
You always knew you were going to have to give him up - hell, that had been the job in the first place - but you hadnât expected it to hurt so much. He wasnât your kid but at the same he completely and entirely was. Youâd never expected your first parenting experience to be with a tiny green Jedi but at the same time, you wouldnât have had it any other way. The next few months were going to be hard; accepting that he wasnât yours to keep and that he was in a better place was guaranteed to be a long process. It would be worth it in the end but the initial pain was bordering on unbearable.
Din was better at hiding it than you. Admittedly, he did have a thick beskar layer to shield his emotions and pain from the outside world but he couldnât hide it from you; never from you. Even behind the metal, you could read him like a book. It was a product of spending every waking minute together (his overprotective doing, not yours) and in return, he had learnt every habit and every quirk of yours. He sometimes cursed your ability to read him, especially when it lead to you saying things like you did not just tilt your helmet at me like that, Din Djarin.
Heâd been quieter in the days since Luke Skywalker had taken the kid - quieter than usual, at least. Din was already a pretty taciturn person; compared to how he was with other people, he practically spoke your ear off but since youâd landed back on Nevarro, heâd completely kept to himself. It was painful to watch, seeing him rise at the crack of dawn to take a bounty, only to return in the evening with a few more bruises than heâd had that morning. You wanted to say something to do something that would make him snap back to reality, but this was probably his grieving process and you had to respect that. Or, you had to at least try to.
That was, until, it felt like Din was killing both you and him; working himself to the point of exhaustion, barely sleeping and refusing to even acknowledge Greef or Cara. You could deal with him being angsty. You could deal with him grieving. You couldnât, however, deal with him ignoring you. You had literally vowed to go through all your bad times together and Din Djarin was nothing if not a man of his word. He knew it. You knew it too - and youâd be damned if youâd let him forget it.
It was on a cold - at least by Nevarro standards - morning that you decided it was time to show him some tough love. The Mandalorian had decided to hole out on one of Kargaâs old ships that morning, claiming that he wanted to fix it. You were no engineering genius, but given that the old jetâs wings had fallen off, you could see it was past the point of no return and that Din had just been looking for an excuse. He was good at that these days.
âDin!â You called. The bay doors were open, but the ship itself was dark and dusty. Tinkering, my ass. As expected, there was no reply. âDin! Donât ignore me.â
Silence.
âPlease?â
You grumbled to yourself, walking further inside the dimly lit ship. Tiny specs of dust were floating in the streams of thin light, leading your path further and further towards the cockpit. Who ever it had belonged it, it pre-dated the Republic, let alone the Empire or new order. You tried to resist the urge to cough, instead choosing to focus on your mission: hunting down the Mandalorian. The tables really had turned, considering he was very rarely the prey.
âI was talking to Karga.â You continued - as far as you knew, you were talking to thin air, but you liked your chances. âHe offered me a bounty puck for...Corellia, is it? For that big, bad guy we didnât catch last year. You know the one that nearly killed me?â
There was a crash from the cockpit, and you grinned to yourself. It was a little unethical to scare the man out of hiding with your bullshit, but you were getting desperate.
âI figured it would be good to get out a bit, try and distract myself, you know?â You continued. âSo I was gonna borrow a ship and head out there tomorrow-â
â- like hell youâre doing that on your own.â Â
A six foot mountain of beskar suddenly stepped out from the darkness. Normally, that would have been enough to scare anyone, but not you. Youâd married that six foot mountain of beskar. That probably gave you more guts than anyone in the damn galaxy -- until they found out he wasnât actually that terrifying. Not many people would have taken the Mandalorian seriously if they knew he enjoyed having his hair played with.
You held your hands up in the air, stretching out your fingers to show that there was no puck in sight.
âYou lied.â Din grunted.
âAnd you were ignoring me.â You shot back. ââS going on?â
âI told you. I was working on the ship-â
â- nope.â You cut him off. âTry again.â
âKarga asked me to fix it-â
â- Still no!â You snapped. âWe gonna go three for three or are you gonna finally pull your head out your ass and stop lying to me, Din?â
There wasnât a single person in the galaxy who dared speak back to the Mandalorian - except you. That was what had made him fall for you in the first place. It was like you couldnât even see the beskar. Youâd always seen him as Din, and never as the Mandalorian, or a warrior. Youâd made it clear from the day you met that you wouldnât take any bullshit from anyone, him included, and heâd always respected that.
âYou have been holing yourself away for weeks.â You continued. âI know itâs hard but you have to accept it. Grogu wasnât ours to keep - he never was.â
Din didnât response, instead dropping his gaze down to the floor.â
âHey.â You put a finger at the base of the helmet, tilting his head back up to look at you. âLook at me. Talk to me.â
âI miss him.â He stated; short and blunt. Fitting, really. âAnd it hurts.â
âI get that.â You gently placed your hands on either side of his helmet, fingers splaying out over the cold metal. âBut itâs better to hurt together. Can I?â
Din nodded, signalling that it was okay for you to take it off. You gently tugged at the helmet, momentarily breaking away from him to place it beside you. It was a relief to see his face after so many weeks of having the beskar between you; the soft brown eyes and slightly crooked smile that met you on the other side felt like home. You could have stared at him forever if the galaxy wasnât so fucking demanding of your presence.
Youâd spent far too long on the other side of the beskar, waiting for him to let you in. And now that youâd got him, now that youâd promised yourselves to one another forever? You werenât going to let it happen again.
You gently pushed back a few tufts of brown hair, offering him a sad smile. âYou know we made the right decision, yeah?â
He nodded, leaning into your touch as your hands carded through his hair. âI know.â
âSo you gotta stop beating yourself up, baby.â You stressed. âStop shutting people out - stop shutting me out. I know we donât have the kid anymore but we are still a family.â
âI lost the ship. I lost the kid.â Din quietly spoke. âIâm just worried that-â
â- Iâm not going anywhere.â You shook your head, knowing what he was going to say before the words even left his mouth. âEven if you paid me. You are stuck with me, okay? Cursed with me till the day I keel over and die.â
Finally, Din smiled. He looked you dead in the eye and he smiled, eyes creasing at the side as he peered down at you, eventually tightening his arms around your waist. He held your head to his chest, ungloved hand gently clutching you as he rested his chin on your hair. The first time heâd clung onto you like this had been after a rough mission; neither of you had been sure if he was going to make it back and when he did, the first thing he did was pull you into his arms and you stayed there for what felt like hours. That was when Din realised for the first time that he loved you - and now, after weeks of isolating himself and shutting you out, this didnât feel completely different from that. It was just that this time, it was less of a realisation of more of a reminder.
âI didnât expect it to be this bad.â Din quietly admitted.
âI know.â You whispered back, voice slightly muffled by his chest. âBut pain is only temporary. Dark times pass and weâll learn to look back on this and enjoy the memories. They wonât always be tainted.â
Heâd been in a dark place when heâd met you. It was like heâd been treading water, waiting for the riptides to take him, to stake their claim and remind him of his mortality, to remind him that not even the bravest people can forfeit their ability to hurt. He tried. Maker, he had tried. The icy and emotionless impression he gave to strangers wasnât an accident. It was a survival mechanism; a defense mechanism. One that youâd chosen to ignore. Youâd saved him in every way a person could be saved.
Just as the waves were pulling him under, youâd dragged him out; dragged him to the shore and reminded him that pain was merely part of being human. Most importantly, youâd called his attention to the fact that no matter how much beskar he wore or how impenetrable he acted, that he couldnât avoid being one. He could run away from bounty hunters and Imperials and the thousands of enemies heâd made but the fact of mortality was always hot on his tail.
Now, you were pulling him up for air all over again.
Eventually, pain stopped being a reminder of his humanity and instead, it was replaced by his love for you. His ability to feel things for you. Youâd saved him then and now, you were helping him come up for air all over again. Being human didnât always mean to hurt - it could just as much mean to love.
âIâve got you, okay?â You tightened your grip on him, eyes meeting his. âWhatever you need.â
âYou.â Din replied. âI need you. Thatâs all.â
a/n: ok i realised i published an identical but slightly different imagine to this in october but...clearly i have a type and that type is imagines where the mandalorian confesses that youâre the only thing he needs because i eat that shit up. consume it whole. i am telling you. i have no regrets. my content might is predictable but HELL at least u can rely on something in these wild timesâ¤ď¸

Batshit AU Pt #2: The Grandkids
So I mentioned in the last post Batshit AU Pt. #1 that I cover Dick and Jason's kids but since I've been thinking (read: fantasizing) about the future of the Batfam I figured I'd just do a post with ALL the grandkids!
Just a heads up: this is a LONG post.
First we shall start with the Grayson's:
Mar'i and Jake (Jake is not my original name I've seen it pop up in other media- dunno if it's canon in any timeline but I'm going with it).
Mar'i Grayson: Mar'i is the biologically daughter of Dick Grayson and Koriand'r of Tamaran (aka Starfire). Kori is unknowingly pregnant after one last one-night-stand with Dick before going back to her home planet to take over as queen. Unfortunately, because of Kori's sister Komand'r (aka Blackfire) causing civil unrest to try and usurp the thorn from her, Tamaran becomes unsafe for Mar'i as she is Kori's only heir.
-Kor'i goes back to Earth with an infant Mar'i and begrudgingly hands her over to Dick so she can live with him and be safe from Blackfire.
-Kori of course visits while she can but has a lot of responsibilities on Tamaran. When Mar'i is older she is able to go back to Tamaran to visit her mother.
-A few years later when Dick and Barbra get married, Barbra officially adopts Mar'i. Seeing both Kor'i and Barbra as her mothers Mar'i decides so call Kori "Mama" and Barbra "Mom/Mommy".
Jake Grayson: don't have much of an exciting backstory for him. He was basically just an orphaned infant Dick and Barbra decided to adopt after his bio-parents had been murdered.
Now he have the Todd family:
Because I am a heartless monster I decided that since Roy died in the comics without any sign of Lian and Jason was pretty fucked up about it, I would have Jason adopt Lian because Roy wasn't round to take care of her. So this is basically what happened:
Lain Harper-Todd: 1 year or so after Roy's death, Jason is visited by Jade Nguyen (aka Cheshire) who is carrying an infant Lian. Jade explains that she hadn't realised she was pregnant with Roy's child until after he was already dead and since she is not ready to give up her life as an assassin she states that Lian is better off without her. She then asks Jason if he would be willing to take Lian in as Roy's former partner (read into that how you will).
-Jason agrees, and decides to hyphenate her last name Harper-Todd so that she will always have a piece of Roy with her even if he can't be there for her in person.
it's not that I don't think JayRoy is cute! It's just that I honestly I don't really picture Jason dating anyone in my mind and the thought of him being a single dad is just precious. I'm also allergic to OC's (of my own making) so I usually try to keep to characters that are at least canon in some timeline and Lian was the first to come to mind.
Also I'm a angst-hungry monster so...
Drake-Wayne/Dowd/McGinnis household:
Lol, this family has too many names.
I already went over Terry and Matthew McGinnis' backstory in Batshit AU Pt. #1 but if you are too lazy/ don't feel like reading it I'll try to make sure to cover the important details.
Terry & Matthew McGinnis: A few years down the road, Tim is the current Batman and married to Bernard Dowd (my new fave batship). One night on patrol he finds the boys hunkered down behind an garbage container and approaches them.
-Terry is extremely protective of his younger brother Matt and becomes immediately aggressive, swinging a baseball around and threatening Tim to leave them alone.
-Tim finds it admirable/endearing that Terry is willing to face Batman alone in order to protect his brother and tells him so. He then asks them where there parents and and Matt (trusting Batman) tells Tim that they were killed by the 'Bad Men' who are now looking for he and Tarry.
-Tim is worried for the boys safety and offers to take them to the Police, but Tarry only says that they already tried that and that there are spies in the GCPD who ratted them out to the 'Bad Men'.
-Tim figures out that the boys are in more danger then he first realized and takes them home with him in order to protect them.
-Tim eventually finds out about Project Batman Beyond, an experiment orchestrated by A.R.G.U.S. in order to create the perfect child to usurp the Cowl and give A.R.G.U.S and 'in' with the Justice League and the super-community as a whole. A part of this project is making sure the children are biologically Bruce Wayne's in order for them to also gain influence over Wayne Enterprises.
-Tim realizes that there is no real safe place that he can send the boys and after discussing it with his husband, Bernard, the two decide to adopt the boys.
I think this adoption story is one of my favourites. Especially because I find the idea of Bernard not at all being surprised by his husband brining home black-haired blue-eyes orphans, hilarious.
Bernard: I figured since you are now Batman it was only a matter of time.
Tim: >:(
Wayne-Kent situation:
DamiJon is one of my absolute favourite ships in existence. But since both boys are so young in canon my version of their future relationship truly is creature of my own design, I will explain them a little and then the kids. I'll be quick about it. Promise. (There is also a 2 part series I'm working on that goes into my version of events called "Jon and Damian" if anyone is interested. Jon's chapter is done but Damian's is still in the works).
Jon: he is the one that I really have to explain. I call my version of him "Dark-ish Jon" or 'dark ish jon' for the tags. For those of you who already know the deal (or don't really care) y'all can skip to the *** for the kids.
-basically Jon was kidnapped by Jon-El (Clark's Kryptonian Bio-dad) in order for Jor-El to mold Jon into the perfect weapon for his plan to conquer the universe. They have a machine that Jumps through various timelines so no one can find them, and Jon-El trains/tortures Jon for 2 years.
-Jon eventually discovers new powers that allow him to kill Jor-El and escape but he ends up spending the next several years trying to find his original timeline.
-He eventually meets the Legion of Superheroes that help him get home, but once he arrives home he realizes that for him it has been 7 years since he was kidnaped, but only 2 weeks for his family/friends.
-Because of this he and his family find it hard to adjust to the new situation and Jon ultimately decides to return to the Legion but visit occasionally.
Damian: Honestly I don't think I really have to explain much about Damian for y'all to get the kids but I do want you to know:
He has long hair
He has peirced ears
Possibly tattoos?
He's has more of a slim figure than Bruce's bulky one
He is a fashion icon and kinda has 'bitchy white girl' energy
Bacically he very pretty and looks a LOT like Thalia
And yeah. The two eventually reconcile after Jon is done moping in another timeline and they decide to retire from crime fighting and build a cottage/farm and live in peace.
***
Athanasia: So she is actually Bruce's bio-kid from the Injustice timeline. And for my AU she is still Bruce's biologically and she does recognize him as her father, but because she and Damian are 13/14 years apart and she knows him better she lives and defers to him as her caretaker. I shall explain:
-Athanasia was created by Thalia in a fit of madness after Damian's death. Because of what happened to Damian, and because Athanasia turned out to be a girl (and therefor Ra's would have no use for her), Thalia keeps the little girl locked away and a secret so that no one can harm her.
-Years pass and Athanasia has never seen the outside would. Eventually something happens (will depends on the Fic -because I will get around to writing this shit eventually) and Athanasia is given to Damian (the only other person Thalia ever told her about.)
-At this point Bruce is getting older and most of his current children already have their own kids, so both he and Damian agree that because Athanasia is mostly attached to Damian and doesn't really know who Bruce is outside of being her father, that she will live with he and Jon.
-Athanasia get's older and eventually meets another girl at her school named Carrie Kelley. The girls form a quick bond, Carrie's louder personality complementing Athanasia's more quiet one.
Carrie Kelley: being best friends with Athanasia leads to Carrie spending a lot of time over at her house. This allows Jon and Damian to get to know the girl and become quite fond of her.
-one night after a sleepover at Jon and Damian's house with some of their other friends, Carrie's father comes to the house drunk and carrying a shot gun. He accuses Jon and Damian of being pedophiles because of their sexual orientations and calls them a variety of homophobic slurs.
-It's his attempts at shooting Jon that leads to Carrie calling 911 and having her own father arrested.
-Because her mother had already left and Carrie only had her dad to take care of her, Jon and Damian offer her a place in their home and eventually adopt her along with Athanasia when the girls are teenagers.
So, yeah! That's it for now. I am absolutely obsesses with this AU. I just love the idea of Bruce deciding to take in Dick leading to him having an army of children and grandchildren so large that all family gatherings have to happen at the Manor because nowhere else is big enough.

Autumn Leaves
A/N: Autumn prompts are an excuse for me to write stupidly cute fluff, so thatâs what I did. This is a Sonny Carisi x reader fic that covers the Autumn square in @adarafaelbarbaâ moodboard bingo!

âMy family is insane, especially the kids,â Sonny explained while he drove you to Staten Island. âThey donât know how to sit and eat food without screaming.â
You chuckled, "it's fine, Carisi, I promise; I'm kind of used to this type of stuff already."
âWhat? You are? You donât even know whatâs awaitinâ ya, yet,â he replied, scoffing.
While in the precinct, you overheard Sonny on the phone with his ma. He seemed upset and perpetually tired when he hung up. When you asked him what was wrong, he told you that his ma was basically guilt-tripping him into visiting on Saturday, to help with the Autumn Feast his family partook in. And when you asked why that was so bad, he complained that no matter what they cooked, the kids of the Carisi Clan would hardly sit still long enough to eat, and would scream and cry if it wasnât something they wanted.
âIt justâŚitâs a handfulâŚand not my ideal day off, even if I do get to see my family,â Sonny finished
You had nodded in sympathy before offering to go with him; you had a pretty big family with a lot of kids, too. Plus, you could never turn down Sonnyâs amazing cooking, and now, you were getting a chance to taste his momâs.
He had picked you up that morning, and now, you were on your way to Staten Island, Sonny warning you the whole way. You laughed and shrugged it off, but he kept giving you a look like youâll see what I mean.
 ********************
He pulled up to his childhood home, and your eyes sparkled at the state of the townhouse. Not only was the building itself quaint and adorable, but there were decorations everywhere. And not just Halloween, but general autumn dĂŠcor, as well. There were wreaths made with leaves of reds and oranges and yellows, there were scarecrows against the walls, there were fake pumpkins on every step leading to the house. And looming over the house from out back were two enormous trees, their branches almost completely bare, the leaves scattered on the roof, the front yard, and the back.
Sonny led you up the stairs to the front door, opening it for you. The first thing to assault your senses was the cacophony of noise. Children screaming in delight as they ran through the house, chatter and laughter from the various rooms as people talked. There was a tv on somewhere, with what sounded like a sports or news reporter blathering on and on.
The second thing you noticed was the wonderful smells. Your mouth was almost instantly watering as you caught the smell of garlic, potatoes, some sort of roast cooking with assorted spices, as well as cinnamon, sugar, and apples. It was so much at once; it was hard to differentiate.
But the third thing you felt was a type of warmth that comes only from a loving home. It bloomed in your chest, and you found yourself smiling as you stepped over the threshold, Sonny following and closing the door. It reminded you of the holidays at your own familyâs place, and a calm washed over you.
In all of the chaos, Mama Carisi mustâve heard the door open and close, because she stuck her head out of the kitchen. Once her eyes latched onto Sonnyâs, her smile grew to blinding proportions.
âSonny, my little bambino! Come see your ma,â she cooed, arms open as she came out of the kitchen fully.
Sonny scooted passed you and hurried to his mother, wrapping her in a tight hug and kissing her cheek. You smiled at the reunion, and Mama Carisi opened her eyes to find you.
âAnd who is this?â she asked, releasing her son and coming over to you.
Sonny followed, looking more relaxed than you had ever seen him; getting a hug from your ma did that to a person. âAh, this is my partner in the department,â he explained, introducing you.
You went to shake her hand, but Mama Carisi wrapped you up in a huge hug, kissing your cheek and whispering, âitâs nice to meet you. Welcome to my home,â into your ear.
âThank you for having me,â you replied, easily melting into her embraceâokay, maybe it wasnât just hugging your own mom that relaxed a person; maybe it was hugging Mama Carisi.
She pulled back to give you a look, a warm smile on her face. âAnyone whoâs a friend of Sonnyâs is welcome here.â
The next hour was a flurry of meeting family member after family member. Even with your detective skills, you quickly forgot most names, and your cheeks started to hurt from smiling. You and Sonny had started in the kitchen before he shuttled you through the house and out to the backyard.
âAnd these are all my cousins and second cousins; Iâm not gonna bother introducing ya, since they wonât pay attention,â Sonny said, chuckling.
You didnât blame him; there was a gaggle of children running and playing in the backyard. The oldest looked maybe ten, the youngest around four or five.
âAre these the ones that give you such problems?â you asked as a joke. Itâs true that they were loud and crazyâas most kids are.
Sonny smirked, nodding. âSure are. Watch; I bet ya twenty dollars that at least half of them will complain about dinner.â
âYou got yourself a deal,â you replied, shaking his hand. Then, you scanned the expansive backyard. Leaves were covering the ground so completely that you could hardly see the lawn; kids were slipping on them all over the place. In the back, left corner stood an apple tree, bare of fruitâyou assumed theyâd already been harvested. And opposite the tree sat a little toolshed.
Grinning, you made your way through the throng of people and screaming children until you reached the shed. You opened the door and leaning just inside were two rakes: one huge one, and one medium sized. You grabbed the bigger of the two, then went to a small section of the backyard that somehow had no kids.
You glanced over and saw Sonny giving you a weird look, wondering what you were doing. Then, you started raking the leaves. You didnât expect to get very farâthe first pile rarely did. But there were so many leaves that you quickly had a pile up to your hip. As soon as one kid noticed, though, it was on.
The pile was quickly demolished as child after child flung themselves into it, screaming with laughter. But you had already moved on, starting another pile where they had just vacated. This one got a little bigger than the last, since they were distracted with the first pile. But once it was seen, it, too, became a new playground.
As you started on the third pile, another rake joined you. You glanced over and Sonny was there, smiling wide as he helped you rake. This pile got to be huge before little bodies flung themselves into it.
You quickly lost track of time, had no idea how many piles you had built only to be destroyed. But that was the point of the piles in the first place. Soon enough, the children started to become too tired, their little legs worn out. Your own arms were burning, but it was a good burn, and you continued until the piles started to outnumber the children.
By the time dinner was announced, there was not a single child running and playing anymore. They were scattered along the ground, panting, and smiling at each other with a job well done. Their parents all either ushered them to one of the various tables, or simply handed them a plate. Sonny, as well as the rest of his family, watched in stunned fascination as the children ate, too tired to complain or throw a fit about what they were given.
âHow the hell did you do that?â Sonny asked in a hushed voice.
You chuckled. âI told you I had experience with this; youâre not the only one with a big family. And besides, no child has ever turned down the opportunity of crunching leaves.â
He gave you a look full of awe before he broke into a wide grin. Then he reached into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and grabbed a $20. You huffed out a laugh as he handed it to you, and you tucked it away.
Mama Carisi walked up then, looking at everyone enjoying her hard work in the kitchen. âYouâre a miracle worker, dear,â she said to you before looking at Sonny, âplease tell me youâre keeping her?â
Sonnyâs ears turned a bright pink. âMa!â
âWhat? Sheâs helpful, knows how to play with children, and is a beautiful, young womanââ
âMa! Stop talking, please!â Sonny whined. You felt a heat in your cheeks as Sonny avoided looking directly at you. It wasnât like you never thought about dating Sonny; on the contrary, you found him incredibly attractive. But you were partners; there was a line there that you didnât know if you could cross.
Mama Carisi scoffed before walking off, leaving you and Sonny to stand awkwardly next to each other. He glanced at you out of the corner of his eye before he turned and went into the now mostly empty house. You gave a sweeping look at the party guests before following him in.
You found him standing in his old living room, idly looking at childhood pictures on the wall. You watched him for a moment before you moved closer, within armâs reach.
âIâmâŚsorry about ma,â he muttered, eyes still focused on the pictures. âShe keeps trying to hook me up with any woman around my age and justâŚIâm sorry.â
You gave him a soft smile that he didnât see. âItâs okay, Sonny, really. I donât think anything less of you or anything. Weâre partners, and damn good ones, if I do say so myself.â
âYeah, butâŚwhat if I donât want to be just partners?â he asked, voice soft.
You froze; what did he say? Sonny slowly turned to look at you, saw the shock on your face. Then he was shaking his head, quickly saying, âlook, forget I said anythingââ
You cut him off with a gentle kiss, your lips soft against his. He let out a little gasp of surprise before he was kissing you back. One hand came up to your face, cupping your cheek, while the other went to your hip. You slowly wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling him closer to you. You felt that line that defined you as partners only start to fade away as your mouths moved against each other.
Gently, you pulled away from him, just enough to look deeply into those blue eyes you loved so much. âMaybe I donât want to be just partners, either,â you said softly.
Sonny grinned, his thumb rubbing your cheek tenderly. âCan I take you out to dinner tomorrow, then?â
âSounds like a date,â you replied, smiling up at him. His grin broadened before he dipped his head, kissing away any fears or doubts you had about this.

SO MERLOPIAN KAI PART 2Â ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
So, with Kalmaar, he ofc immediately goes to his parents about his feeling, slightly placing his revenge on hold. They are...dubious about it, but Maya raises the point of how there has never been a human/merlopian hybrid before, and from what Ray has told them about having two EM parents itâs possible for Kai to have some water abilities himself, which could be what gave Kalmaar his feeling. So, they agree to look into it.
Moving on..... Uh. Kai doesnât have a fun time in S6, as briefly as heâs there. You see, Nahdakahn knows exactly what buttons to press and is able to get Kai into a panicked state where he, on the verge of a panic attack and mental breakdown, just says âI wish that I could just be normal! I wish I could just go home! I wish I could be with dad and mom and father and Kal and Bentho and Nya!!!â
The ânormalâ comment comes from how they werenât able to completely hide Kaiâs heritage since yeah, there were other people on the boat who saw him. That and he also tried a lot less to keep it hidden. And because some humans are assholes, he has to deal with that.
So ofc, Nahdakahn interprets it in the worst ways and as two wishes. Kai is now a full human yesâŚ.but was also sent to where the fish fam currently wereâŚâŚwhich just so happened to be at the bottom of the ocean.
So yeah, double trauma for both groups. Kai got to experience what drowning felt like, and his fam was essentially forced to watch him die since there was nothing they could do. They were too far under to take him to the surface and too far from the palace to take him there.
But dw, it gets even worse.
You see, the whole reason Nahdakahn is being this malicious about Kaiâs wishes is because he learned that Kai was the reason the Preeminent was destroyed, thereby destroying Djinjago.
Nahdakahn is then able to do a âoh? Is this not what you wanted? I thought you wished to be normal.â Which ofc sounds really bad since itâs in front of his family. âBut, I understand. You grow tired of the stares in the street, how they whisper behind you back about what you are. Not human, not merlopian, not normal. Just a freak masquerading as one of them.â
This ofc supremely pisses off the fam. Like, weapons drawn ready to commit murder.
But then Nahdakahn stop them with a âah ah ah, I wouldnât do that if I were you. After all, I am the only way your son has a chance at living. So go ahead. Make a wish.â
Trimaar ends up being the one to do it, and is smart enough to know this uh will twist it in anyway he can so says. âI wish for Kai to be sent safely to the surface without harm done upon him.â
Blah blah blah, your wish is yours to keep, Trimaar realizing âwait thereâs a lot that could be interpretedâ but too late BAM now Kaiâs kinda stuck on the Misfortuneâs Keep.
And he....generally has a pretty bad time. Think Jay but this time itâs personal.
However, Kaiâs appearance had Trimaar get the Merlopian army and start heading to the surface. The remaining ninja have a brief moment of âare you kidding me two enemies at onceâ before learning that this is Kaiâs lost family and theyâre here to help.
So now the ninja have a whole ass fish army to help them, plus a very protective, very angry fish family.
But for the rest of canon, the only difference is that when theyâre leaving Tiger Widow Island, Nya gets snatched along with Jay(who was taken because he hadnât used his wish yet) and they arenât stuck on the island, and then later that Kai gets sucked into the sword when the ninja launch their rescue mission.
But yeah, it gets all Un-Happened by Jayâs wish(which at seeing Kai physically hurt and being emotionally torn apart at his baby sister dying, wished that none of this ever happened and that Nahdakahn was never found), only like canon Nya and Jay still remember what happens.
Nya is now firmly on team Kai Is Alive and tells her parents everything about what happened and the wish Jay made, and more importantly where Kai is.
Unfortunately, they need to take some time and prepare. Trimaar and Maya have been doing their best over the years to open the populace possibly making bonds with the humans, but now itâs finally happening. They canât just go up there out of no where, since from what Nya has told them 1) most humans donât even know they exist and 2) in the past few years they have been subject of many attacks, mostly from non-humans, so they need to make sure the humans understand they donât mean any harm.
So DotD happens, then the beginnings of S7 :)
Right out, Kai never liked the museum curator. Up to that point heâd only ever caught fleeting glimpse of him but something about him Kai just despised. As a result, he also visited the museum as scarcely as possible, and thus didnât notice a very interesting painting containing a two very strange figures.
When he learns his name was Dr.Saunders.....things donât go well.
It happened when Kai brought the helmet with his dadâs symbol on it. As much as he disliked the curator, he was the most likely to be able to recognize what kind of helmet it was.
Then in his anger he gets himself captured.
Heâs taken to a special cell lined with vengestone and has guards around the clock, and Krux takes extra care to make sure Kai doesnât know where Ray is.
ofc itâs around this time that the Merlopians arrive and express their wishes for a possible alliance between their two races. Unfortunately they showed up at literally the worst time, and double unfortunately the people in charge of diplomacy decide to bring some of the ninja in as an extra precaution because of the villains have been running around.
So the people who join the meeting are Lloyd and Jay from the ninja(they wouldâve brought Kai but he hasnât returned from his missions yet and isnât answering their calls) as well as some police officers and from the Merlopians is the whole royal family plus a few guards.
Both Jay and Nya have a silent moment of staring at each other since âI know and Iâm not sure you know but I think you know but I donât want to say anything since you might notâ
And just as theyâre about to start, The Time Twins attack. Because why the hell not.
Theyâre actually able to hold them off for a while, but unfortunately there are too many Vermillion. Then Kalmaar whips out his Water Powers which causes him to get kidnapped since they need both Fire and Water masters for the blade.
While theyâre recovering, Lloyd then gets a panicked call from Zane saying that he checked the museum footage and Kai has been captured. The gets overheard by the royal family, and then Lloyd asks why they looked so upset at which they learn(sans Jay since wish) that Kai is royalty. The eldest son actually, and thus first in line for the throne, as well as being presumed dead for the past five years.
So basically Krux has kidnapped the King and Queenâs husband, the crown prince, and the second in line prince(if anyone knows a more fancy term for this please let me know)
Maya, Trimaar, Nya and Benthomaar are not happy. Not with the Ninjagian people, no theyâre fine, but theyâre bout ready to murder Krux, and they donât even know about Ray yet.
So they offer any help they can.
Zap back to how Kai and Kalmaar are doing.
Kalmaar isâŚ.kind feral tbh. Like, heâs biting, clawing, trying to strangle them with his tentacles, and before they got vengestone cuffs on him was trying very hard to drown anyone.
Ofc, this does little to the Vermillion and soon Kalmaar finds himself in the cell right next to Kaiâs. Heâs overjoyed to see his brother again, albeit upset that this is why.
They both reluctantly come to the conclusion that there isnât much they can do at the moment, and there are many Vermillion guards right outside their cells, so they decide to start catching up.
And for pretty much the rest of the season canon is pretty much the same, just shuffle around the characters a bit and add a protective Fish Fam.Â
Though their little trip back in time is quite sight for the Past EMs, especially because of how Kalmaar is using his powers, which leaves Kai mostly stuck in his Fish Form. This time they donât even bother trying to explain, just give instructions on how to defeat the Vermillion and jumping into the battle.Â
And I mean just imagine that from the EMs perspective. An enemy you thought you defeated just returned with a giant metal creature and an army of snake things that donât look like any kind of Serpentine theyâd ever seen. Then a shark person and squid person??? show up and not only do they know how to fight the snake things but they also seem to be Elemental Masters???? Despite the fact Ray is very much alive and they didnât even know there was a Water EM. Then the two not only summon dragons but they also fuse their dragons into an even bigger one with two heads.
And then all of them disappear into the sky without a trace.
W i l d
But yeah, after that it calms down quite a bit. Kai spends the time skip before S8 reconnecting with his family and his dad, and through some tech courtesy of Borg they're able to bring Ray with them :D
And Kai actually goes to meet the Jade Royal Family since yâknow. Heâs the crown prince. Heâs kinda important and legitimately forgot about it. Luckily Kalmaar is able to help coach Kai through it, but is also a bit smug about how he finally has something to teach to his older brother. Kai was actually the one who suggested asking the ninja for help protecting the mask.....but we know how that inevitably ends.
Bentho, Kal and Nya were actually on the ship for this particular adventure, and then Nya and Bentho were dragged along when they got sent to the First Realm. Bentho, despite being the youngest sibling and to the surprise of literally everyone, was actually really good with kids and spent the most time with Little Wu, right behind Cole.
But yeah S9......Nya and Bentho have a really bad time in the First Realm beause of the heat, but at least they donât get captured. Kai on the other hand....
Yeah at some point he gets accidentally splashed with water and well.....it definitely doesnât help with the Oni accusations. The Dragon Hunters decide to burn him along with the Wind Dragon, which moves up their Build Our Own Dragon time table.
After they escape Faith is actually pretty chill about the whole fish thing, but she does ask a lot of questions.Â
And then S10..... kinda the same. They end up dropping off as many people as they can with the Merlopians since the smoke canât reach them.
I might make a Part 3 for the rest of the seasons, but yeah. this is where weâre at.
