have you seen the new nightwear groovy? alas, the dream of the animal onesies or the pillow fight groovy are dashed 😞 - i have yet to see the card's story but i assume that yuu is interviewing the boys again this year like the birthday boy cards cause there's no other characters in the card (?)

I too am disappointed that we didn't get a big full-on pillow fight. 😔 but he DOES battle by throwing his pillow, so at least we get some cushion action in there!

it looks like this round of birthday cards aren't going to be interviews/conversations, at least not for most of it -- the first part was Jamil talking to Ortho (who he duos with) about what his dormmates are doing for his birthday (they're setting up a surprise party/parade (because Kalim) but they're doing an extremely bad job of it and he's having to go around making sure that they don't screw it up) (being Jamil is suffering). second part was Jamil talking to his (unvoiced mob) roommate and answering Crowley's School Improvement Survey (he wants bigger bathrooms) (also a fridge in his room) (actually, make that a whole kitchen) (but mostly bigger bathrooms). then third part was his ~morning routine~, aka talking to himself about his hair and makeup, as one does in a visual novel. it's less cohesive than the previous birthday stories, but it's all pretty chill and there's some fun stuff in there! (Najma sent him hair stuff for his birthday that's way too fancy and he can't decide if she did it to annoy him or not. truly, being Jamil is indeed suffering.)

if all the cards are going to be about nightly/morning routine though, we're going to absolutely melt when we get to Vil, brace yourselves

genuinely what is it about jimmy solidaritygaming that’s so compelling. i’m asking this as a big fan of his. he’s just a very normal silly goofy guy who really likes soccer and yet almost every man that meets him is enraptured

okay so to recap

reasons to watch mlp:

-minty, our favorite pony. she is so delightful

-derpy, our favorite pony. she is so delightful

-maud pie, our favorite pony. she is so delightful

from what we’ve seen:

-minty is very autism-coded. she is very energetic and passionate and has a nice flow to her speech. she loves her sock collection and she always tries, even if she messes up sometimes. she is wonderful and we love her

-derpy started as a joke character, but became dearly beloved by the fandom to the point that she started being referenced in the show. these scenes were later edited to remove her name and lazy eye. while ‘derpy’ definitely isn’t the best name for a disabled character, the fix is not to remove the disability. she is funny and helpful and brightens up any scene she’s in. we love her

-maud pie is much like us. she is expressionless, her voice monotone. because of this, most mistake her as being emotionless, accusing her of not even passions. to the contrary, she has a deep fascination with geology and feels more comfortable around rocks due to them not judging her for circumstances beyond her control. she’s deeply relatable, her bond with her sister is immensely important to us, and her fight to be accepted and understood is inspiring

this will probably be the last time we bring up mlp but holy shit do we need to sit down and properly watch the show. ae want to see more of these guys 🥺

Im getting tired of all the weird pregnancy movies coming out this year. Like is there a reason ? I mean I kind of expected it with Alien Romulus because duh but I didn’t expect it in Cuckoo, then there was Immaculate, Sasquatch Sunset, The First Omen which yeah expected but still, and then I went to look at what The Front Room is about and surprise it’s a movie about pregnancy ! Like one or two is fine but I’m tired of going into movies blind and then halfway through it makes me feel like my womb is twitching and I want to rip it out. We get it pregnancy is a nightmare and it fucking sucks but I don’t want it bashed into my skull eighteen million times, I already don’t want to experience it, you don’t have to keep coming up with movies about nightmare pregnancies and forced pregnancies and all that I GET IT ! At this rate I’m surprised Longlegs didn’t have anything to do with weird pregnancy stuff but the year is almost over and hopefully in 2025 the nightmare pregnancy trope is put to rest for a while

It feels like people with poorly disguised breeding fetishes were in charge of the movies this year

I love how emotional Hardy is beneath his prickly exterior?? He breaks down in tears so often. He carries the picture of a dead girl whose murder he couldn't solve in his wallet. In fact not being able to solve it literally broke his heart. I love him so much.
