Remembering John Barbata 1945-2024

Drummer John Barbata has died at 79. He has quite a discography from the 1960s and 70s!

He was the drummer for The Turtles from 1966-1969 (that's him on "Happy Together"), Crosby Stills Nash and Young from 1970-1972 (that's him on "Ohio"), Jefferson Airplane in 1972, and Jefferson Starship from 1974 to 1979 (yes, that's him appearing with the band in The Star Wars Holiday Special). He also played on Neil Young's live album Time Fades Away.

This news follows the passing in recent years of CSN&Y's David Crosby in 2023, Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner in 2016, and Jefferson Airplane and Starship's Marty Balin in 2018.
