I also think Aemond comes to Sylvi only in moments of some intense inward emotional upheaval. When he needs to calm down, when he seeks solace.

My sense is that the creators decided to show his tender soul through the fact which comfortable space Aemond has chosen for himself. Because Aemond does have a tender, hurtable soul. As Ewan Mitchell said, Aemond is a character full of grudges, and very old ones at that. And grudge is not a feeling that thick-skinned people have. Grudge is inherent in sensitive ones. So it's possible Aemond is emotionally involved in some events at a very deep level. Like the murder of Jaehaerys, for example.

When I first watched the second episode, I thought... I know I was wrong, but I thought Aemond is so dangerous that even the death of the child disturbed him not at all. It's a strong theory, a possible theory, but it's hardly true. It's just when one watches the episode, one sees how everyone is grieving and weeping, but Aemond. So it looks as though he doesn't care.

Helaena cries, Aegon cries, Alicent cries, Otto has tears in his eyes, Criston almost shed a tear when the blood-soaked mattress is carried out of the nursery. They are all grieving. The whole green family, and even outside: Rhaenyra feels sorry for the child too. The only one who does not react outwardly is Aemond. While they are all of them in mourning, while Aegon is tearing his hair out, while they are trying to do something, Aemond glances from side to side and not saying anything betakes himself to Sylvi.

It would seem that he's doing something strange at first sight. But then one realizes that in the backdrop of the green family's grief, the way Aemond is acting is rather alarming. The child was brutally murdered there, but music is playing here. Everyone is sobbing aloud there, but it's quiet and peaceful here. Aemond does nothing and shows his feelings in no way, so one falls under the impression he has no feelings, although he does. He just lies on the madam's lap and thinks about what happened, but he looks so calm and cold that at some point it becomes scary.

I wrote a whole post about this on Tumblr before, about that while the madam pats him on the head, and while the audience thinks how pathetic or hard-boiled he is, Aemond is actually planning to uncoil Daemon's guts around the country. When looking at it from that perspective, it's a very scary scene. Not stupid and not pathetic, but scary. Because Aemond plans something terrible in cold blood, and does not act impulsively, as he's done in the Shipbreaker Bay. And the softer that scene in the brothel looks, the more ruthless his future actions will be. The examples are around us – Rook's Rest.

There is another way to interpret this scene. It doesn't change what I just said. These two interpretations are not mutually exclusive, but complementary. They are not in parallel universes; they are kind of inextricably intertwined. Both are possible at the same time.

Aemond is grieving too, he has a heart, he’s having a tough time of it too, all this weighs on him too. He also said he regrets Luke's death, maybe he feels responsible for the child's death, because it is a consequence of the murder he committed. That is why he did not go to Helaena. How can he go to console her in her grief if he considers himself responsible for this tragedy? If that’s how he thinks. But he may not think so. Aemond is a very ambiguous character.

He understands his family goes through a real nightmare now, but he does not want to deal with it so much. He has a good understanding of the situation and all problematical character of his family, all their inability to take compassion on each other, even if they have a longing to do that. Aemond realizes they will start blaming him for Jaehaerys's death, maybe he blames himself, he feels so bad as to go into shell.

He's like a coconut. Aemond is like a coconut. He's so bulletproof on the outside, but he's very soft on the inside. Everything presses on him so much that he wants to get away from it. And he does. At the brothel. At his comfortable space, where he abstracts his mind from the whole world.

He has probably more intelligence than all of them put together. Breaking things and screaming as Aegon does, it will not solve the problem. One may only has a spat with someone in the process and becomes a cripple. Alicent is not doing anything useful. Neither is Criston. Otto is still trying to somehow hold all these crumbling pieces together, but it's impossible. Everything in the family is falling apart at the seams, and Aemond... he doesn't want to be part of this disintegrating world.

So he just cut himself off from it.

He does not respond at all to what's happening in his family not because he doesn't care, but because he cares so much that if he takes a dive into the midst of things, he will go off the rails. Aemond is just saving his nerves. That's the point of this scene.

Aemond is grieving too, but he is a person who places great importance on self-control and privacy, so he express his grief in no way. For his own sake. The only one Aemond can save from pain in this situation is himself.

And he knows it.

an angels perfect winter morning: a guide . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

hi angels! this winter i want to perfect my morning routine. i struggle alot with sleep and energy levels, especially during the first few weeks of winter so this guide is a perfect way for me to ensure i have enough energy to get on with a busy and full day and achieve all my goals! while i cant do all of this every day what i try to do is pick a few things to prioritise daily. i hope you enjoy this and find some good routine inspo! especially if you struggle a bit with slumps during the colder months. enjoy.

school/work days - 20 step routine . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

wake up at 6:30 - 70:00.

open curtains and window (if not raining), let air circulate.

do a quick five or ten minute yoga/stretch routine while you watch the sunrise.

make bed (studies suggest its better to let your bed freshen with the sheets unmade first thing to stop the growth of certain bacteria etc).

dress.

clean teeth and floss.

drink glass of lemon water and salt (for natural electrolytes).

start packing lunch or snacks needed for the day.

make a cup of tea (my favourites are chai, green tea or matcha).

make breakfast (my go tos at the moment are turkey bacon and scrambled eggs, sautéed apple and yogurt or a porridge/oatmeal bowl).

clean teeth and mouthwash.

do am skincare.

style hair and jewellery.

make sure bag is fully packed.

journal for a few minutes and plan day.

read or listen to a podcast.

ensure all school work is up together/everything prepared for work.

fill up water bottle for the day.

set up room for when home, leave a cute lamp on, make sure your desk is tidy, lay out evening clothes etc.

put on motivational/winter playlist!

weekends - 20 steps . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

wake up at 8 - 8:30.

open curtains and window.

ten minute yoga/stretch routine.

tidy room and make bed.

get dressed in workout clothes.

do a five minute oil pull then clean teeth.

drink glass of lemon water with salt.

make breakfast and a tea (i normally put mine in a travel mug).

fill up water bottle.

clean teeth and am skincare.

if weather nice go on a little morning walk (half an hour to forty minutes).

journal and light a candle, plan day.

workout (i aim to workout for an hour to an hour and a half now weekends).

have a shower.

body lotions/moisturiser.

file nails.

start any work/projects needed, aim to get all finished by end of morning.

during breaks read or listen to podcast.

start weekend clean of room, change bedsheets, clean surfaces etc.

spend time with family or friends!

i want my winter mornings to be slow and mindful, focused on caring for my body and mind and doing what i can to make this time of the year easier and gentle on every part of me! there are lots of complexities within these routines so consider this a fairly basic, un-detailed guide. i might try to make a guide for any changes i make during the winter/as it gets colder if that would interest you angels? thank you for reading and have a great start to winter!
