Bloodlines Indigo - GHB

The Grand Highblood for the Makara edition of the Homestuck Bloodlines Zine. I based his teeth off of a combination of musk deer and warthogs. He was fun but tricky to do; I am not quite fluent in Blender, especially posing and the fancy modifiers and math and whatever, which was instrumental in this piece. With any luck I will be able to remember how I modelled his horns, since that will be a very useful skill in the future. It involved 3 parts, IIRC: modelling a small trisection, using a curved line to indicate the general horn curve and having the section repeat along it, and applying a spiral. There must have been a taper function used as well, I think that might also have been a curve? Looks like I have forgotten it all already! Oh well, I will simply have to re-learn it next time!! omg sparrow fur just got confirmed to become the second leader of skyclan

Ok, that's good. I'll have to think of how to go foward from here.

If Sparrow Heart had died before taking leadership, I was going to write that as her being INFURIATED by it. Remembered forever as Skystar's stooge, his general, his loyal servant, but never having power of her own. And, generations later, she'd grab for it in any way possible.

With her being Sparrowstar, I'm going to keep her ambition and desire for power, but she had a chance to enact her vision in life. She was the first cat to inherit 9 lives, even, with how BB!Skystar is the first leader to die. She continued his "legacy," not out of any actual love or respect to him, but because it's HER TURN.

All these years of groveling, of having to bend and bargain around the desire of stronger cats, now it's HERS. She is the one who bargains, who makes others grovel. No one will make her scared and powerless ever again.

It's going to continue the ferocious rivalry between SkyClan and ThunderClan, especially as Owlstar takes power. Sparrowstar is definitely gone by the time of the River Kingdom's succession crisis, though, she's too battle hungry to rule for so long.

Or maybe Sparrowstar will end up inventing some kitty war crimes and become one of the first Dark Forest cases. After all, it's very in-character of BB!Skystar to not officialize an heir, and force Sparrow Heart to have to carve a path through his bio-kits for the power she is owed...

(Mumbling to self: and then that makes a pretty interesting claim for SkyClan during the River Kingdom succession crisis... "we need no claim to your throne to take it from you")

We'll see!

GHB Sketch

Sketch for my GHB piece for the Makara/Purple edition of the Bloodlines zine. It was interesting trying to make him look Absolutely Massive while not straying into what I consider to be Zahaak or Maryam territory. And I think the end result, which is a mixture of jacked and twiggy, worked quite well in the context of what fanon thinks a Makara should look like, too.

💫 ― an obscure memory.

Vix

Vix was in the dream scape attempting to remember a certain memory, one that eludes her to this day. The High Queen was only ten at the time, her royal escort in shambles from an attack and her magical comms being blocked. Even at this age the fennec was still a dangerous threat, though there were so many and some strong too.

Vix could remember all that up to this point, then everything got all blurry. Why? She focused, taking a deep breath and finally remembered something new. She'd take a hit to the head, enough to cause bleeding. That must be why the fennec struggles with this memory, though that's not the important part.

Then flames surrounded the area, pitch black, though with what looked like stars in them. Through them she could barely make out the source. A warrior who fought so fiercely without any regard to defense. Why? Why was that? She focused more, then saw any weapon or magic just, vanished upon contact. Was it a Lucky Star? Was it some sort of enchantment? Was their magic energy that strong? More importantly, why did it seem like they were protecting her?

Vix then saw the battle end, so she tried to focus once more. However, everything just got more unclear. It was always at this part, the part where she was sure she could make out this warrior's face. The fennec tried to focus more, though it became too much, and she was found herself awake once more. Back sitting in her meditation chamber.

"Who are you? Why did you protect me? And what magic was that?" Vix had reached the highest level of magic and her Lucky Star, yet the lever that warrior displayed was something she's never reached or seen. Was she remembering it wrong? Did she imagine things and they simply countered all those strikes? No, though what was that magic?

Vix had access to the Mothers of Magic library which housed every magical secret ever to exist yet found nothing. She's traveled the world seeking information. From the many ancestors of powerful magical fight forms to the criminal underworld with forbidden magic, though still found nothing. She's even consulted the Keeper of Lucky Stars. One who comes from a long line of people who's job is to record every Lucky Star, yet even they had no answers for her.

Vix knew the only answer's she'd get was to remember that day and what she truly saw. Though for now she had more important things to do. The fennec stood up and exited the room to finish her royal tasks for the day.
