Was going to write a little ficlet to go with this, but. Vaccine tiredness is killer.
A little bit of art for the FOP Nature au by @bunnieswithknives. I cannot recommend checking it out enough.
#art#my art#fop nature au#fop#fairly oddparents#fairly oddparents a new wish#fop a new wish#fopanw#fop dale#dale dimmadome#he deserves to die in a dimmaditch#body horror#blood#candy gore#Anyway the concept behind the ficlet was going to be basically about Bramble#(because im a dirty little bitch who shoves their oc where they don't belong)#setting up traps in the forest with the intention of not catching actual deer#but rather the rogue fairy disguised as a deer that the fairy council had warned her to be on the lookout for (aka Flowers)#The Council doesnt really give a shit about Bramble or her forest#they just want to make sure Flowers isn't COMPLETELY unsupervised after the Dale Incident#So anyway Bramble does catch something#and its certainly not a real deer#but he's pretty damn sure it isn't another fairy either#(idk why Dale would be in the forest I guess maybe he just went looking for Flowers to fix this and freaked out and got lost? idk)#Anyway none of that is actually canon to the au ofc it was just in my head#and it gave me an excuse to draw a fucked up deer man so like what else could I ask for

"I think..."
"...you have followed me..."
"...far enough."
Incident Report: Witness came to my office in Wailer custody. He (elezen, 45, Hyrstmill) was quite shaken and claimed to have been followed on through the forest. He described a hyuran woman (late twenties to mid thirties, long, ashen hair and skin, dirty gray tunic; no eye color givenâhe reported that her eyes were naught but whites) staring at him from behind a tree on the roadside, smiling unnaturally. As he approached the tree where the woman hid, she ran around it and, per his claim, disappeared. He had little cause for concern until she saw the same woman hiding behind another tree just a few hundred yalms up the road. Witness claims not to have seen the woman pass him on the roadside, nor did he see any usual movement in the trees. He called out, but she deigned to neither respond nor to move. He carried on down the road, keeping an eye upon the woman as he passed, then turned to check the road ahead when she was out of sight once again. He then saw her a third time, some fifteen yalms ahead, now peeking from behind Galvanth's Spire. Witness then began to run from the authorities, which prompted them to give chase and arrest him for suspicious behavior. Wailers report seeing no woman approach and new footsteps could be found.
Investigator's note: Woman loosely fits the description of a missing person report filed last autumn that the Wailers were charged with investigating. They neither found the woman nor recovered remains (attributed to wildlife; she disappeared during the peak of annual funguar activity). I'll need to confirm her identity, which means I'll have to get close, and that presents a problem if she slips away whenever someone draws near. I have a hunch she is simply a pawn for a much larger threat that will only reveal itself once a potential victim follows her deeper into the wood. Wonderful. I leave in the morning.
#[ veiltreader ]#[ incident report: smiling woman ]#not 100% happy with these but oh well#we're experimenting#io (forest name pending) goes by they/them!#starting to build up some of the... characters? they encounter in their line of work#do not call them a paranormal investigator#they WILL walk away from the conversation#it's not paranormal if it has a perfectly logical reason to exist by way of aetheric disturbance okay???#also...#:)

I've been thinking about how to push Hornblower to his breaking point recently and I think the best way to do it would be to put his compassion and his duty in conflict in a way where he could either be a good person and put his naval career in jeopardy, or be a tyrant but maintain his position. I think that these often come into conflict in the narrative, but he always finds some sort of loophole and manages to worm through without having to sacrifice either ideal. I think that it would be really fun to push him into a corner and make him choose, though. I can see both scenarios leading to interesting results.
#personally i do think he is actually often guilty of being less compassionate than he thinks he's being#which is also why i think he has a negative character arc. but that's just me#i do think he needs to be forced to choose between System and Ideals though i think that would be fun#i think you could make him desert like that it's the best i've got as a way to get him out of there#i understand that this is anathema to the adventure story protagonist who needs to always come out on top in every way#however. hornblower should not have been stuck in an adventure book he's wasted on it#perce rambles#percy yells at cecil scott#sorry for posting so much weird meta i just have a lot of Thoughts#side note: the doughty incident is one of the few cases where i think we nearly get this. however he doesn't ever face consequences#there's a couple of other points where i think it gets kind of close but cs forester always swerves at the last minute :/

i wonder if dev will be sad when dale finally dies. after all, no matter how bad he treats dev, he's still his father
Oh, he will be very sad indeed
After all that Dev is bound to go through, having a loving parent, someone proper to count on, that's something he truly wants
It's something he's always wanted
Yes, Dale might not be perfect, but at the very least Dev knows how he works and the worst things he can do
He understands Dad
He knows Dad is mostly just busy
Dev does care for his father, especially if he feels like Dad is trying to get better
Well, hopefully it won't be a gruesome one And hopefully Dev doesn't have to see anything of it
Then again, what is it we say about hope? It's not always compatible with reality, isn't that so?
#Do apologize for how slow we were in getting to this one#It is a fun oneâ and *trust me* I have quite a /fun/ idea for how his death will come#But alasâ it will be so very long till we get there#Stillâ you all have chapter 11 and the forest incident too look forward too#Oh! And the fun body swap thing!#Thoughâ that one is also has a long wait till we get to it#I'm sure you'll enjoy it#Then againâ you seem to enjoy most of what I write#So I guess that doesn't really tell you too much#hehehe#Anywayâ as always#Thank you dearly for the ask#Always so nice hearing what you have on your mind#a little ask in my valley of despair#fop what it takes#fop what it takes ask#fop#fopanw#dev dimmadome#dale dimmadome#dev fop#fop dev#dale fop#fop dale#fairly oddparents a new wish#fairly oddparents#fop a new wish#fop anw

/showleft anyway itâs all of eyrieâs children !
from L to R: aoife, sver, olâver, bijou, bisha and halvi
#ffxiv#I should have a gpose tag#aoife lives in ishgard where she does a lot of work with the astrologians in an academic sense#she also makes frequent trips to idyllshire to visit the gobbies#sver still lives in the forest and was trained as a wood warder. heâs a skilled whm however#and does much of his warder work far to the north#olâver does gleaner work but heâs frequently found at home in kugane#he does a lot of work in aetherology and religious studies#he also accompanies eyrie on the occasional adventure#bijou spends most of his time helping out the restoration of doma following the events of stormblood#eyrie visits him often#bisha is eyrieâs co-WoL in their shared universe#halvi did a lot of combat work with the bozjan resistance#but as events have unfolded she now does a lot of restoration work#putting her home back together is going to take a long time#but Aoife is the oldest and sheâs like. maybe a 100? I would have to do a lot of math that I donât wanna do#and Halvi is less than 25 years old as she was born after the incident at the bozjan citadel

#AnneBoleynWeek, Day 2: Monday, 25 September â favorite historical Anne quote (either by Anne herself or about Anne)
"Once she was a wise woman, [endowed] with [many] outward good qualities [âŠ] and such [...] courtly graces [âŠ] as few women were of her time; with such an outward profession of gravity as was to be marvelled at [...]" William Thomas (1524(c.)-1554)
"Had audience of the King this morning and thanked him for the love he bears the State, and did the like by the Queen, who said she knew that God had inspired his Majesty to marry her, and that he could have found a greater personage than herself, but not one more anxious and ready to demonstrate her love towards the Signory." Carlo Capello, 1533
"As supper prevented further conservation I returned to my inn, and went next day to Court to pay my respects to the Queen, who, after keeping me a long time, being reminded by her attendants, sent for me, and received me very kindly, saying to me, âI am aware, my dear Winter (Vintere carissime) that you are beloved by the King and have many friends who wish you well. Reckon me among the number.â And then she added that she would not fail to serve me wherever she could." Thomas Wynter, (1510(c.)-1564)
"Considering the Word of God, to do good to one's enemy, I wished to warn her before hand, because I have daily experience that the King's wisdom is such as not to esteem her repentance of her rudeness and unnatural obstinacy when she has no choice." Anne Boleyn, (1501-7(c.)-1536
"[...]Given her great faith and wise patience, which rose above womanly courage. [...] Such that everyone [...] judges her life to have been prudent, and believes that they have committed a great offense in having thought so ill of her." Lancelot De Carle (1508(c.)-1568)
#chose some quotes that really counter the more popular narrative that she was; idk...volatile and frivolous?#anneboleynweek#she was a bon vivant but it seems she also had this depth#they need not be seen as mutually exclusive#as for the quote from anne's letter that's probably a controversial choice#since paul friedmann it's been termed 'pathetic' which is like...why?#she was right? that is quite literally what happened#i chose it bcus although it seems harsh to our standards it does seem also demonstrative of that 'prudence'#there also seems to be this tacit misunderstanding of what contemporaries meant when they referred to her 'grace'#it wasn't usually about skill at dance unless it was explicitly connected to this (although they praised that too)#grace was a manner#a way of being#a sense of composure#AB is not typically thought of someone with composure because her biggest detractor wrote with unsparing detail of all the times in which#she lost it#to the extent that i think we're losing the forest for the trees even to focus so much about the extent to which dispatches about incidents#concerning AB were 'accurate'#even if they all were which seems unlikely. they're not the sum of her life or character#they are just these snapshots#chapuys didn't attend court events with anne. he was personal witness to her demeanour literally only once when she was queen#(by which he remarked she was 'gracious enough'. so. there's that word again)#and once before (if he could have been a great judge of it from that one moment in which she's watching his conversation with henry above#from a hanging gallery of sorts)#the images chosen are more the vibe for the quotes but the one from BSR is very specific#it's a great scene and it's so well-acted bcus she feels BAD for him here. she pities him.#she feels bad for him because he's losing her bcs she's not going to settle for these terms#because she knows she's amazing and she's so self-posessed in the scene#and he cannot handle this and so it manifests in the reaction#(you're making a big mistake; except that is his own big projection)#she's willful and knows her worth and won't diminish herself for anyone

The Rendlesham Forest Incident
Using a modified magnetic junkyard crane, Russian spies were able to listen in on encoded signals, sent via underground cables and using an electron gun, a type of microwave emiter, they were also able to send signals as well, when the radiation produced decayed into a magnetic field, therefore sending an electrical signal down the wire.
