I get the thing of wanting to be as harmless and uncontroversial as possible in your craft. I understand white witches trying their best not to encroach on closed practices or cultural appropriation. I understand wanting to cancel problematic occultists and generally push the witchy community away from its history with white supremacy and racism. I get it, I really do.

and I say this with love and try to come across as gently as possible.

Some of you, though your intentions may be pure, don’t seem to recognize the difference between genuine caution and concern and blatant white saviourtism. Saying shit like “using magick with a k is just as antisemitic as using a swastika” completely waters down what real antisemitism is, and makes the matter less serious than it actually is.

Saying “working with Lilith is just as antisemitic as working with the Tetragrammaton” is just a complete slap in the face to practicing jews, and you don’t know why because you don’t understand Judaism or the people who created it. You can’t understand it because you’re so busy talking over them that you never took the opportunity to listen.

Before you make the decision to run these mass cancelation events, take a second to consider if you’re doing this because it’s actually important and something you truly understand, or if you’re just doing so to feel morally pure and accepted by your fellow politically correct white peers.

His voice almost startled you completely from your thoughts. The two of you had been laying in bed for ages; understandably so, as there wasn’t much else to do. Tomura said it’d be good for everyone to have a break, so here you were. Mind you, Touya had his grumblings about it, saying that the League took too many breaks, but you could tell by how his shoulders slumped as he spoke he really didn’t mind the idea of some rest.

Still, despite knowing so much about him, being able to read him so well, and being so close that he’d lay so trustingly with you for hours on end, you still had trouble speaking to him without completely blowing it. It’s hard not to, especially after he rolled over next to you, looking down at you with those pretty eyes, and that silly smile. He raised an eyebrow, bringing to your attention that you’d laid there quiet and staring for way too long. You furrowed your brow, a nervous smile crossing your face.

You blurted this without much thought, blushing at how random and ridiculous you sounded. Touya raised his other brow as well, nodding. “…what about em?” He smiled a bit wider, like he just wanted to hear you talk, like he just wanted an excuse to get closer. That thought made you blush even more. “they’re cute” you replied, the blush on your face slowly deepening.

He chuckled, and you couldn’t help the way your breath hitched when he lifted a hand to card his fingers through your hair. “Cute huh? Never thought I’d hear someone say that about those things” he replied, his eyes filled with a fondness that made you feel so warm all over it was almost terrifying. “They’re not so bad” you replied, your voice quivering slightly under your own nerves.

He laughed again, before gently flicking your forehead and burying his face in the crook of your neck. A simple yet so daunting gesture that you froze up. “Tell me about it” he said quietly, sending a shiver down your spine. “Well… for one, they don’t…um, they rarely attack people… it’s just when they do it’s blown out of proportion…” you said nervously, stuttering over your words as one of his hands trailed up to your waist, tracing circles on your side.

You found that leaving the door to the small balcony in your apartment unlocked was becoming routine- you can’t blame him for not wanting to take the stairs or the elevator, not with those big wings making the spaces more cramped then they already were. So he’d usually come in through the balcony, his entrance often not making a sound. He was always careful not to be too noisy, in case you were already asleep, which he found to be the case more often then not. But this time, you weren’t.

You stood in the kitchen doing late night chores, cleaning and putting dishes away so it wouldn’t be a hassle tomorrow. Keigo slipped in without a sound, having already quietly shut the door of the balcony when he turned and saw you. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t stare for a moment, just admiring you before a warm smile crossed his face.

Your back was turned to the door, so you didn’t notice him. At least, not until he was right behind you. He whistled, startling you just enough to make you gasp and turn around, relaxing when you saw it was him. He stood, leaning against the counter, that pretty smile of his lingering just for you.

That smile could win awards and yet you seemed to be the only person he ever wanted to show it to. That fact alone- that one of the most sought after people in the world said he ‘only had eyes for you’ and actually meant it- that fact could make anyone crumble, which happened to you frequently.

“hey sweets” he said quietly, tilting his head as he took a few steps closer. And so the crumbling begins. You smiled, your cheeks tinged pink as you took a moment to respond, your words failing you as you could only reply with a quick breathless “hi”

He chuckled, wrapping his arms around you. He was well aware of how flustered you’d get, and you were well aware of how much he enjoyed using that to his advantage. Couldn’t hurt to mess with you a little. “How was your day” he said softly in your ear. “Uhm.. it was great.. I.. how was yours” you fumbled nervously, wrapping your arms around his in return. “It was fine… but I wanna hear about yours” he replied coolly, trying to contain his teasing smirk.

“uh…well..” “anything interesting? Come on, spit it out” “I don’t know! I mean not much happened…I watched a few cat videos when I got home, I guess that was interesting..” you trailed off, laughing nervously as you looked back up at him, but at your reply, he gasped rather dramatically. “You were watching cat videos without me?!”

After that, seemed he forgot about trying to fluster you now. Plus, he pouted until you watched cat videos with him, but at least it gave you the chance to catch your breath.

i think as viewers we find it easy to sit back and judge each character until their motivations are explained to us in detail like with purple and king and chosen. even with victim its fairly easy to guess a portion of why she is doing this. and that's partially because avam is just made to be like that so all audiences can understand it and why the characters do what they do, and also partially because it's a little difficult to do more subtle storytelling when you can only express character feelings through their body language (and the body language has to be fairly exaggerated so that everyone can understand how the character is feeling).

so then as a result when we see green falling deep into the hole of social media it's easy to scoff and judge and say come on green, do better. we see it as him just getting too cocky again- look at green with his ego and his need to seem cool, he's sucking up to people again so he can get validation. and people understand that, they're even comparing his arc to purple, but they're forgetting to actually see things from his point of view.

like yeah. green was mean to yellow! and that was a kind of assholey thing to do, agreeing with people when they say yellow didn't do much. but like people do stupid shit all the time, especially to get approval. green hearting mean comments wasn't him on his villain arc, he probably barely thought about it. haven't you ever done anything without thinking or made a joke in bad taste. honestly it's a little ironic how quick people were to jump on him when he did something kind of mean, it reminded me of actual cancel culture! fascinating shit. we really are a part of the story.

anyways green started off as the weakest. he tries his best to be good at other things, first building, then music, but for some reason whenever he does well in something his friends get jealous or upset. (he pours himself into that thing and unintentionally ignore s or snaps at his friends--- its a repeating pattern at this point). it's mostly because their competitive spirit, something which is seen in a lighthearted manner but has gotten them killed or hurt on multiple occasions and i feel like they're going to have to address that at some point. whenever green sets boundaries, they're ignored, even if cg think they're just acting in the greater good.

hell, even purple, we've barely seen them interact after s3- who's to say purple wouldn't just scoff at him as well? she's already not very experienced with actual friendships (based on the way they just expected green to brush the betrayal off in parkour, they acted more like it was a small disagreement than a full on issue), so he may just assume this is how friends are.

basically the point of this is to say, no one ever celebrates his success. obviously he's competitive with his friends too, but having been at the bottom of the group from the start, he's visibly very insecure about this stuff, and having people attempt to kick him down during every success he gets (which he works very hard for) will lead to him needing validation from elsewhere. clearly, social media is supposed to give him this.

but like someone in the community pointed out, now he's appealing to hundreds of thousands of people instead of just 5 or 6. the praise is awesome, but seeing that people still have criticism of him just makes him throw himself into his work even more. it also probably functions as a form of escapism for him; he's so busy working, editing, writing, he barely even notices that his friends are avoiding him. it's possible he's purposely using youtube as a way to ignore his gut. anyways, blue's still willing to hang out and record with him, so what's the issue? (it's not as if blue is the least confrontational of the cg lol)

i have. been in this exact position. the moment you make anything, you're looking straight at the numbers. it becomes what you think of in the morning and during the creation process. you're skimming comments for keywords--- good, bad, more, less, etc. you listen even when you don't mean to. yeah maybe the guy was a little mean about one of my friends but ultimately it's just constructive criticism! it's not like she'll see this anyway. it's fine.
