"Dang, Shadow was callous. He just let Sonic fall to the earth! I mean... at least let him try to save him for a bit or something. Then Knuckles and Tails appeared, telling Shadow to focused on the Eclipse Canon for now while they handle Sonic. This way, we could see that Shadow did try to establish a camaraderie with Sonic. That he did try to forgive and change."

These were all the scenes I wish were existed in Sonic Movie 3#the film is good dont get me wrong#but if they fix the pacing then it'll be perfect#hey at least I can draw Shadow now hahaha#next I'll have to learn how to draw Sonic#idk why but he's kinda hard to draw too :')

What..... what was midas man. Like, sure, competent biopic but also so....man....
#like dont get me wrong it was enjoyable#but now i know why people called it unremarkable#for a film about brian i felt it said really very little??????#also i loved the beatles dynamic but both the beatles and cilla kinda felt a bit one dimensional?#cilla less so though because the scene with her and brian at the wedding was very sweet#but i think briand actors performance was very good especially looking at what he was given to work with#you can kinda smell the changes in directors#also tex dont piss me off can we have one biopic without a fictional guy who plays a major role in the story#i know he's inspired by brians lovers but did they have to be meshed into One very annoying Guy#i should read up more on brian because this has told me basically nothing#actually it dis say a lot but to the point it yapped on and on and didnt show????#come on movie#okay thats the breif thoughts#midas man#the beatles#brian epstein

i think it is silly when people act like studio ghibli is the end all be all of animated filmmaking and writing when in fact every film will have a different combo of writers and directors and when marnie was there is a movie that cannot execute the basic tenets of "show dont tell"
#DONT get me wrong its a good movie and a good story#but i would love if someone could explain to me Why they chose to do ALL the exposition as narrated flashbacks#also why did they have the audience put together who marnie was SOOOOO much earlier through flashbacks we assume anna as the pov character#is also having only for her to apparently not know who marnie was until the moment her mom hands her that photograph#i also dont get why everyone at the school would be like UGHHHH SHES SO QUIET like they SAID she used to be bright and happy and expressive#and it was only after she found out about the govt subsidy that she got upset and quiet. how long ago did she find out.#where are her friends. i'm curious about the book and how similar or different it is from the movie. i'm curious how much the author knew#about foster care in japan. also is anna in foster care or has she been adopted? i guess foster care if theyre getting subsidies.#a (children's) book BY a japanese foster parent called ぼくのかぞく has an afterword by the author (idr her name) about the foster system in japan#and just the afterword was a really interesting read. i am wondering how much the people (be they original author or screenplay adaptor)#who decided anna should be a foster child knew about foster care in japan. i dunno. again i liked it well enough#but something something interesting trend in most recent ghibli films about accepting a mother and again. if someone can explain to me why#there are so many narrates flashbacks explaining the story instead of.....idk.....anna investigating further.....her flipping through the#stages of marnie's life at the manor like a broken vhs#something like that#t

I am reading The Shining for the first time in earnest (bc it scared the piss out of me when I was like 13) and am about 40% of the way into it. I know the main story beats from pop culture osmosis so I wasn't worried about spoilers and decided to ALSO watch the movie foe the first time.
Mr Kubrick really said, "Actually, fuck the source material! I'm going to tell a different story!" huh?

do NOT take this as "g3 bad g1 good" i love g3 and they both have their strengths but god i miss g1 monster high
#spouting to the void#i wish they could coexist yk#as in the accompanying media ik the dolls actually DO coexist#im glad i got into it when i did though cause i still got the excitement of new films and dolls coming out#and in a way im glad g2 exists because i would probably be way more unecessarily bitter about g3 if it didnt#i think where g1 is good for the actual fashion g3 is good for representation (ESPECIALLY bodily representation)#i also thing the cg in g1 is more unique and charming BUT that's personal preference (probably influenced by nostalgia)#g1's tackling of social issues is also way more bare bones too. like i mean dont get me wrong a lot of the first few films are decent#ghouls rule is a bit dumbed down but i think they did the racism story fairly well#why do ghouls fall in love + friday night frights are both quite feminist in their writing (not even in a typical 2010s pop feminism way)#(ok maybe friday night frights is a *little* bit pop feminism but it still makes a good point)#but at the end of the day its all NOTHING on g3 which is not only more in depth but also outright names what they're on about#which i think is kind of important for stuff aimed at kids#yes i do think it can be a bit *too* in your face but i dont really mind
