#the fifth marauder

So Amias' character kinda came from my lack of shit I want to write so I'm tryna set one up that I can get more excited about. I wrote a long ass story a bit ago called Mozzafiato/Alternate Reality and I loved the hell out of it before I lost interest. So I'm trying to start a new story that I also enjoy writing.

Hopefully this one can kinda evolve with me like Mozzafiato did. Mozzafiato was kinda a bit of everything. It had 3 main characters that went through every fandom I've ever been in. I'm kinda gonna do something similar with Amias. Starting with schooling at Hogwarts and seeing where it goes past that because I don't tend to plan it out when I write things for fun like that.

This might be a long post btw. There'll be a lot of reposts.

But I do reccomend that people who love writing do this sort of thing because it's nice to just let go and do whatever you want. Kinda stress relieving. Especially if you use it as an escape generally.

I've never posted Mozzafiato permanently but I do plan to post the one that I'm working on. Mozzafiato was much more personal and I just didn't want to post it. It's also over 800k pages by now so if I did post it and all its versions, it'd be hell to try and read.

Sirius is such an icon. He literally just turned up at his “best friend’s” house with practically no warning to stay indefinitely, without talking to his “friend’s” parents first. Then, after they didn’t immediately tell him to fuck off, he started an affair with said friend, their only son, while they slept across the hall. I aspire to be that guy the way Sirius is that guy.

Lilys least favourite class was Transfiguration. She liked the subject itself and did it for fun sometimes (to freak her sister out when the tableware turned into animals) but she couldnt stand the lessons because James and Sirius did so well in them without ever struggling and it frustrated her that they got Minnies praise for so little effort on their parts.

so true. i feel like one of the subjects she was most excited to learn was transfiguration, from severus' descriptions of each subject. but from her first lesson, she learns Professor McGonagall is James' godmother and that he's like a transfiguration protege, and him, sirius, and peter are all the best in the class which annoys her so much because they're so loudly obnoxious about that fact. and she quite likes the subject and learning it and she does like McGonagall a lot, but every class is like an hour long james/peter/sirius show where they can show off as much as they like and although the McGonagall won't allow their misbehaviour, she praises their talent and doesn't care about them showing off

Sometimes Sirius needs to be reminded who he is.

It doesn’t take much: pulling a prank with James, a tight hug from Remus, a tousle match with Peter for the last drop of pumpkin juice, karaoke night with Marlene, or even just a hard glare and disappointed sigh from Lily.

But sometimes Sirius gets caught up in it all. In what he was, in who they want him to be. In who he tried to be for them for so long. He gets lost in it, gets angry too. It pours gasoline on the fire that is his soul whenever who he actually is is shut down or hidden away. He hates it when he doesn’t have his leather jacket because it feels like he’s lost a part of himself, he hates it when first years think he’s pretentious and cold and mean like the rest of his family. He hates it when he realizes he’s fallen too far into it, taken five steps back and he’s teetering on the edge of a cliff to fall all the way back down to the cage and the pressure and the titles and the conceptions and what he was supposed to be.

It makes him collapse in on himself, so angry it scorches everything around him. It makes him mad that no matter how hard he tries to be himself, like really himself, all it takes is five steps for him to be all the way back.

And it doesn’t take much: a snicker from James, a piece of chocolate from Remus, a sarcastic glance from Peter, a noggie from Marlene, or even an exasperated point from Lily, to remind him that he’s Sirius.

He isn’t that. He isn’t what he used to be. He isn’t what people think. He isn’t what he was taught to be.

He’s so utterly defiant and stubborn and rebellious and burning and glorious and him that no matter how may steps backwards he takes, he’s a fucking dog, and he’ll sprint so fucking fast towards who he is on all fours and at full speed that he tumbles and gets up and keeps running.

Because he’s Sirius Fucking Black. Disappointment, blot, pain in the ass, worthless, disgrace, Gryffindor. He’s Sirius Fucking Black and he’ll be every single one of those things and he’ll shove it down his mother’s throat that he’s Sirius Fucking Black and she can’t do a damn thing to control him.

And even if it does get to him, and he does fall into it, it doesn’t take much to remind him, and it never will so long as he is who he is.

And he’ll never be anything other than Sirius Fucking Black.

oh I see! No, as far as I know there aren't. I mean we can deduce that Lily is a character who wouldn't tolerate certain behaviour; on the other hand we know she's pretty capable of forgiveness, as she displays this towards Sev and James. I think it's fair to assume that she wouldn't be going out with James if he was still behaving the way he did in SWM.

Honestly I think that conversation with Sirius and Remus should be taken somewhat with a grain of salt. We don't know how much exactly they were aware of, theirs is very much an outsider perspective on James and Lily's relationship and they just seem to be speculating. Sirius is guessing, from what he knows, that Lily was mostly unaware of any confrontations with Snape during 7th year. It's possible she found out at some point and Sirius just wasn't privy to whatever conversation/conflict James and Lily had about it. It's possible she was aware of some instances but not of others. They seem to have been dating pretty casually during this period, it also seems likely to me that Lily didn't know about the marauders being animagi at the time even though she clearly found out later.
