Romantic moonwater but it’s regulus pouring his feelings into poetry like the little goth fuck he is and letting Remus proofread it because he’s the only person he trusts to have a cultured opinion on it and doesn’t think Remus is self aware enough to figure out it’s about him and he’s right because Remus reads it and just thinks ‘huh regulus must know a lot of werewolves.’

“Coffee.”

“Coffee.”

“Coffee.”

Those were the only words exchanged between Remus and Regulus as they sat in the café, poring over their textbooks for hours, night through morning and repeat.

Every once in a while, Regulus or Remus would take their turn to get up and bring each other their much-needed coffee.

For example, at four in the morning, Regulus got up to order black coffee for himself and caramel coffee for Remus’s early sweet tooth. He set them down on the table with the short, curt announcement, “Coffee.”

Remus nodded his thanks, equally brief and firm.

At five in the morning, Remus got up to order iced coffee for Regulus and a spicy blend for himself. They were attuned to each other’s needs like that, knew what each other was in the mood for, detecting changes in preference based on the other’s expression.

Remus set the coffees on the table with the mild, plain statement, “Coffee.”

Regulus gave him a small smile in thanks.

When Sirius walked in to check on them, his baffled reaction was, “What in the love language—”

Not looking up from their papers, in sync, Remus and Regulus responded, “Coffee.”

I get embarrassingly irritated when i look up moonwater (on any platform) and it’s full of platonic stuff.

Petition to cease & desist using WATER as a ship name for Regulus Black because:

It’s slander

It’s the location where he d!ed, not the (kinda metal) thing that caused it.

It don’t make no sense.

That twink didn’t “drown”— he breathed in water while monsters ripped his flesh from his body (there’s a difference.)

He was taken down like a thirsty gazelle drinking @ a watering hole that gets ambushed by an alligator, dragged into the water, & chomped on 2 d£ath.

Canon: After drinking the poison (to switch out the locker horcrux) he was hella thir$ty -> bent down to drink the water in the cave -> he was ambushed by water dwelling monsters that can only be killed with Fiendfyre (like mf-ing horcruxes) -> dragged into the water (still alive) by their creepy skeleton hands -> ripped his flesh from his bones while breathing in water -> he ☠️.

Out of all of that 🔝 this was the thing we latched onto?

His most likely causes of d£ath (ranked in order from ‘ofc its this one’ to ‘interesting wrong opinion’):

The Inferi injuries/attack.

The mf-ing poison he’d already drunk.

Lack of oxygen; water into the lungs.

Romantic Moonwater but instead of them meeting and bonding in the library like usual: it’s a half horror, half grossly sappy romance that switches point of views between Remus who believes he’s being actively hunted by a stranger who knows his furry little secret. And regulus, who is experiencing a crush for the first time (full stop, honestly) and has no idea how to admire people in a normal way, making himself the worlds most harrowing secret admirer
