Agreed. Andrew is my favorite version of Peter, the vibe of his movies really speak to me. I love the scene you’ve mentioned, but it breaks my heart because of Gwen’s fate. However I would love to do that for Miles and Gwen. Right now I’ve got a lot of pieces in progress, so don’t expect it right away, but if I find a chance to do it I will ✨

I really enjoyed drawing their kiddos and had every intention of drawing them differently from the comics. I wanted to do my own interpretation of their kids since the spiderverse style if different from the comics. I actually based Gwen’s braids on some of her concept art, I loved that look (it’s viking-ish which I dig) so I wanted to do something with it.

Though Miles and Gwen 42 are not exactly canon, I still love the idea of them and so I’m glad you have enjoyed what I have made.

Mystic Messenger: Valentines Day Head Cannons

What these guys would do with you for valentines day! With valentines coming up, what better time to start putting out some valentines related content. There may be some references to the valentines dlc but mainly my own interpretation of what they'd each do/say. Also some of these will take place in the after endings and some wont.

Yoosung:

You're his first valentine so boy is STRESSED trying to plan something perfect

Will go to Zen for advice and takes detailed notes

Saves his money for a month or two to take you out to a really nice restaurant

Gets you a big bouquet of roses

When you've sat down for dinner this poor boy is sweating and a little shaky

He just want everything to be perfect

When you grab his hand and reassure him that anything he did would've been perfect because it was him, he starts to calm down

"MC you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I just wanted to make this night as perfect as you!"

After dinner, he will take you to and ice cream shop for dessert and then take you to a park nearby to walk through while eating

He'll pull you to a bench nearby and share a nice stargazing moment

Excitedly explains some of the constellations and which stars are actually planets

Ends the night back in the apartment with cuddles and kisses

Jaehee:

Valentines isn't one of Jaehee's favorite holidays but she knows you enjoy it

Decides to plan a nice valentines day in since you both have been so busy at the cafe lately

Cooks your favorite meal for dinner and pairs it with a lovely wine

Followed by you favorite dessert and a cup of after dinner coffee

Feeling a little buzz from the wine, you throw on some slow romantic music and you slow dance with each other for a bit

"I'm so lucky to have met you MC. You changed my life."

Ends the night by falling asleep on the couch cuddled up with both of your favorite one of Zen's musicals playing in the background

Zen:

If there was a competition for most romantic, he would win by a mile

Wakes you up with breakfast in bed

Takes you out to do a couples spa day

He usually treats you like royalty but today especially

Gets a call from his 'manager' and has to go to rehearsal last minute to rehearse an important scene

Super apologetic but reassures you the valentines celebration of you will continue later

Sends you to the movies to keep you busy

Flash forward and Zen is picking you up from the movies and takes you to his secret spot that overlooks the city

You notice there is a whole elaborate sunset picnic set up waiting for you

"I'm sorry I had to lie about work. I just wanted to make today as special as you are"

After your picnic you head home and find the whole house dimly lit by candles and rose pedals leading to the bedroom and covering your bed

The man really is a huge romantic

I feel like he keeps his valentines plans pretty classic

He did want to do something extravagant with you like travel out of the country was a little confused when you said you couldn't accepts something so big like that

Ultimately after some explanation from you he understood and dialed it down

Takes the day off of work to spend as much time as possible together

Asked his private chef to make you a special breakfast

In the afternoon, you go have lunch on his yacht

And for dinner, he gives you a gorgeous outfit personally tailored for you, and takes you out to and extremely upscale restaurant

After an incredible dinner and a few glasses of wine he takes you home and you guy get a little hot and heavy

After certain activities take place, he draws a nice relaxing bath for you both to end the night

Seven:

Like Yoosung, boy is nervous and has never done this before

Does a ton of research on perfect valentines dates and romantic gestures to do for your partner of valentines day.

He decides to take you to a cat cafe!

But not before surprising you with roses first

He read he's supposed to do that and he's so relived when you love them

After the cat cafe, you go check out the new show at the planetarium

When it comes to dinner, he felt too much pressure going out to a fancy restaurant, he orders in some really nice food

To really help with the romantic atmosphere, he dims the lights, lights some candles, and starts playing some of your favorite music

He looks at you with so much love and adoration throughout the night

"Being with you feels right. Like I found where I'm supposed to be. I will never get tired of being with you. Thank you for loving me MC."

You finish of the night by having a movie marathon all cuddle up on the couch snacking on honey buddah chips in true Seven fashion.

Waking Nightmare. Yan Childe x Reader

Warnings: Yandere themes and unhealthy relationships.  Word count: 1.2k. Note: i just wanted to write a little something for childe... i miss him </3

“... Ajax?”

It’s a miracle that you’re able to utter his name without recoiling, your voice a proper mixture of tender and demure. Childe never leaves room for interpretation when it comes to his preferences — he spells things out to an embarrassing degree. How he’s able to detail such intimate desires without going red in the face or getting tongue-tied is unknown to you. Understanding or not, you knew every little thing he wanted; it was impossible not to with how often he’d bring it up.

Act as a good little spouse. Kiss him on the cheek when he returns home. Ask about his day. Make him dinner. Tell him how much you missed him. Warm his bed. The list goes on and on, a cumbersome chore at best and humiliating punishment at worst. And still, you always followed through. There was no room for error if you wanted to escape scrutiny, so you put on a performance brilliant enough to dazzle audience goers in Fontaine’s theatre scene.

You smiled, you laughed, you kissed him; you loved him. Or at least you pretended to. Maybe he can tell, maybe he can’t. Whatever the case, it worked and continues to work. Tomorrow he’s rewarding you with a trip to the market, your first outdoor excursion in months. You circled the day on a calendar in bright red, a detail your husband enjoyed teasing you over.

“You’re looking forward to spending my money that much?” he’d joke, to which you’d giggle and nod. You would’ve found swallowing rusted nails preferable to that, but alas, your options were limited. Every second of every day you were monitored. The servants of his estate in Snezhnaya followed your every movement like their life depended on it.

The gardeners would tip their hats to greet you, going tense whenever you neared the tall gates that cage you off from the outside world. The chefs would ask if the most recent meal was to your liking, not bothering to hide how they’d block the sharp knives with their bodies when you went by. The maids were your least favorite. They faintly reminded you of mice, scurrying about and fussing over you in high-pitched voices.

They’d listen to you from a room over, knocking on the door when you got too quiet, under the pretense of asking if you needed anything. What conniving little liars. They could at least act like they weren’t running constant surveillance on you.

“Ajax?” You try again, your voice taking a shakier timbre than usual.

… Still no response.

You go still as a corpse. Waiting, contemplating, listening. He’s sound asleep, you can gauge as much from the soft snores and gentle sighs. The grandfather clock in the corner of the master bedroom is the only other source of noise. A gift from a Fatui diplomat for your wedding, a little over a year ago from today. Your last major public appearance before you were whisked away into seclusion.

Your arm reaches beneath the bed, your fingers blindly grasping for something to fill them.

Tick.

They brush against a wooden hilt. You grab it with sweaty palms.

Tock.

Slowly, ever so slowly, you lift your arm up like you were drawing water from a well. This was it. You were going to go through with it tonight. Whatever the end result is, whatever door to purgatory this would open, so be it.

Tick.

You raise up and judge him with your eyes. How deceivingly innocent someone could appear while in the throes of slumber — he’s almost like a different man entirely. Streams of moonlight illuminate the soft, messy auburn tufts framing his face, along with a line of drool falling from his slacked mouth. He’s a convincing liar, even in his sleep. That doesn’t change anything. Your mind is made up, it has been for ages, ever since you had the misfortune of meeting him.

Tock.

The knife is raised and your prayers at the ready. The gods have ignored your every plea until this point, but that’s okay; so long as this works. Then you can forgive them. Then you can forgive yourself. Just work, just work, just work—

You thrust it down and aim for his wicked heart.

Something akin to calm washes over you like spring rain. Your hands no longer shake, your breathing is steady, and your mind is clear. Clearer than it’s ever been. What troubled you the most over the past year went beyond Childe, the roots ran far deeper than that. What threatened to unravel you was doubt. Do you play along or act out? Accept your situation or continue to plan an escape? Droop low to hurting others or uphold your morals?

Doubt, doubt, doubt. There was so much of it that it overflowed from your soul, soaking into every other crevice of your person. In a way, the outcome didn’t matter. You pushed past the barrier that held you prisoner for so long.

If your heart is made of flesh after all, you think, the tip of the knife but an inch above its target, then bleed.

“I didn’t expect you to be smiling while you did it.”

He stops your wrist with a single hand, gazing up at you through his eyelashes.

It doesn’t take much pressure for your grip to slacken. The knife drops and is flung to the side with a loud clatter, going someplace where you can’t hope to reach. For some reason, you lift your fingers to your mouth to test the validity of his claim. It’s just as he said. Your lips are curled up, in what must be the most genuine smile you’ve had in months. He matches it with one of his own — though his is considerably more strained — more teeth than anything else.

“Ten days,” his grin widens, “Ten days I waited to see what you’d do with that knife you stole. I suppose this was what I should’ve expected, hm?”

You wince but offer no other physical response. “Was it not?”

“No, it was. How you went about it is what turned out to be different. I thought you’d cry, shake all over the place, and barely be able to hold yourself together… color me surprised.”

“Sounds like you don’t think highly of me.”

“On the contrary,” Childe flips your position, now hovering above you with a manic expression on his countenance. He holds your arms above your head with one hand and strokes your cheek with the other. “I wouldn’t have made you mine if I didn’t adore you as much as I do.”

At this, you look to the side, lowering your voice. “... I’m not yours.”

It’s almost imperceptible how his muscles go taut. Had you not been so acquainted with his mannerisms, you may have missed it, yet you know him too well. His silence could be mistaken for agreeing with your statement. The stillness that accompanies him is exhausting, almost worse than receiving an outright punishment for your transgression. There’s something working behind the scenes in his mind. A machine chugging away, processing the information you’ve fed it, trying to decide what to do next.

“No, you are,” he reaffirms, dragging the pad of his coarse thumb against your cheek. “It’s just your mind I haven’t claimed yet. However…”

Childe leans over to blow air against your ear.

“Let’s go to work on changing that, shall we?”

and i really love your style, it’s a mix of the og demon slayer style with some personalisation thrown in -- a bit of old 90s anime inspo i think!! and the composition is great, the shadowy hashira figures in the back (and can easily tell which one is which) that seem ominous but it’s actually the other way around cuz they’re all hella curious what’s going on with makomo and oyakata-sama

i have not put much effort or thought into super detailed descriptions of makomo’s appearance (it is detailed, but in a vague, purple prosey way) specifically for the reason that i know that every reader has a slightly different interpretation of how they read her narration in their head. and i will say, i really love this fanart, it captures the scene’s mood/tone perfectly!! slightly mysterious, a bit of a daydream look in her gaze, and the colours... just *chef’s kiss*

Fanart based on the latest chapter of I See The Ocean by lulu_lisbon (@i-hate-mushrooms) which is one of my fave Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba fics. The description in the fic alone is amazing. The outfit is based on the description of her wearing "A storm haori, a yellow kimono, and a freshly painted fox mask of forget-me-nots."

I'm sure you've been asked this hundreds of times but how did you develope your art style? I especially love the way you color your pieces. They're chefs kiss for sure lol

i think of art styles as just ways you view the world,, how you choose to emulate what you see from life. disregarding how skilled you are in art, how you draw rn is your style, it just develops over time.

if you follow artists on social media, you’re gonna see elements of their art style you enjoy and may want to include in your own art (you might copy the way one artist draws eyes, another on their noses, another for their coloring style, etc.)

(i answered a separate ask about my own inspirations that influence my style here!)

and the more you draw, you’ll slowly find out what works for you.

for example, if you copy the way one artist draws eyes and continue to use it in your own style, over time, how you draw eyes could develop into your own way. that artist was just the foundation to help pave the way for your own art style.

like, your art style isn’t just made up of your favorite artists’ styles, it’s also based on choices you make. your style can be made up of:

(1) things you find appealing! if you like sharp angles and geometric shapes, your style may be more angular because it’s something you like! it’s not necessarily because an artist you admire did it, it could just be because you like drawing things that way and like how they look.

personal example: i like drawing lines in hair! i find it really appealing and like the shapes they make when i do it. i took inspiration from a friend who drew in a geometric style, but i didn’t rip this exact hair technique from them or any specific person. i just happened to do it and liked how it looked. i find it appealing, so now it’s just part of my style.

(2) things you just have fun drawing! if art is your hobby and something you really like doing, of course you’re gonna wanna have fun as you do it! so find particular things that you really enjoy drawing out.

personal example: when i sketch, i really love little scribbles like these! it’s just so fun to taper off lines this way.

i’ve done them so much it’s practically become second nature when i sketch. i like to be loose with my lines and don’t like making them entirely clean cut. i like the freeing feeling of letting my lines go wherever, and often the result is just scribbles like these. they’re fun to do, so i keep ‘em!

(3) techniques done just for the sake of convenience. you may start to find shortcuts in drawing/coloring certain things, and over time that technique will just become implemented in your style.

personal example: as aforementioned, i like keeping my lines loose and sketchy. if you look at my lines, you’ll see that they’re not very clean; they go off the edges and are open ended sometimes.

it’s a mix of inspiration from ramonn90’s art, but also it was just convenient for me.

i’ll be honest: i’m lazy. sketchy lines are convenient because i can be lazy: i don’t have to spend time cleaning up my lines and i can leave in my mistakes.

additionally! y’know how some artists complain that their outlines look boring and less expressive than their initial sketches? i also felt that way about my art in the past, but i found a way to counteract that that worked for me:

nowadays whenever i sketch, i copy and paste it onto a new layer. i keep the parts i like, erase the ones i don’t, and then continue to outline everything else onto that layer.

for me, this is convenient because it helps maintain the expressiveness of my initial sketch, because i’m keeping parts of the sketch in the final outline.

another personal example: how i color backgrounds. again, i’m lazy. because i’m lazy, i don’t really draw out backgrounds—i don’t want to spend time drawing every little leaf and tree and detail in the back. instead, i throw a bunch of blobs of color onto the canvas and call it a day. let viewers interpret it for themselves.

this was all out of convenience because i’m lazy. but hey! it works, i like the way it looks, and i have fun doing it.

there are probably more factors that play into the development of your style, but that’s all i can think up atm.

also, if you’re curious about my coloring in general, i like impressionism and blocky coloring styles. i love traditional paintings where you can see each brushstroke and color. here’s a pinterest board of art with that kinda style that i like!

i used to get so hung up on what my style was, but as i continued drawing, the development just became natural and not something i put as much thought into.

Honestly I’m kinda boring when it comes to headcanons, they’re mostly canon compliant or I end up floating about on the general consensus of popular fanon. Here, however, is a bunch of little titbits!

~Hifumi draws like Boichi. The idea he has a super detail oriented style and not a cutesy one cracks me up.

~The difference between Taeko and Celeste; those colour contacts are prescription. (Taeko doesn’t look too dissimilar to Toko and she hates that)

~Likewise, Gundham takes forever to get ready as he re-applies the “wards necessary to allow mere mortals to withstand the presence of The Supreme Overlord of Ice”

~Kazuichi on the other hand is au naturale. He just looks like that.

~Hiro is right, where do you think his clairvoyant abilities came from?

~Taka has had to shave every morning since he was 13, (he looks like Masaaki Sakai from Monkey if he grows it out) Mondo will never be able to grow any facial hair, and he’s salty about it. His hair is naturally curly but he straightens the back for that Pomp Aesthetic

~Taka is a very restless sleeper, never wakes up in the same position as he went to sleep. At Hope’s Peak he usually finds himself waking up across the room, on the floor.

~Additionally, He eats like a gannet - maximum efficiency (until he gets indigestion) [more on this]

~Red eyes and a diabolical resting bitch face is the dominant trait of the Ishimaru Bloodline. (POV trying to have a casual conversation)

~Takaaki is a divorcee not a widower; his marriage was an arranged one organised by Toranosuke, and when the scandal went down the marriage was dissolved by the bride’s family. [more on this]

Ah! I can understand the confusion! That was actually an older Mondo, as the anon had asked about Kaito being Mondo and Taka’s kid. I’m easy going when it comes to pairing characters together, I don’t mind answering questions along that vein! I love to see other people’s interpretations, and how they imagine a relationship develops. I’ve seen some absolutely adorable art of them as a couple! Personally however, I don’t have a good idea of their chemistry in my head, so I don’t think of them as being together. At the very least not in this weird AU thing I’ve got going on.

(Thank you so much! That’s so very sweet! I’m glad you like! :D) SO I didn’t originally have a timeline when I started making the comics, but NOW I do, so it’s a bit of a mess lol! BASICALLY: ~Daiya survived the bike crash  ~Mondo & Taka go to Hope’s Peak  ~They become friends (I have a comic planned for this, and it’s NOT a sauna scene *wiggles eyebrows*) ~[The Yakuza Incident] this is when Mondo catches feelings, but chalks it up to the adrenaline of the situation ~[Mondo meets Takaaki] and [makes a great impression] ~Daiya is introduced to Taka, and gives him “The Shirt” unbeknownst to Mondo  ~Taka has his own Gay Panic™ (this is another comic comin’ in the pipeline!) but he doesn’t recognise it for what it is. ~[Takaaki finds The Shirt, and him and Daiya make their plan] ~[The Hershey’s Kiss Incident] Mondo has to ask himself some PRETTY SEARCHING questions after this, whilst Taka has to wrestle with the revelation that if Mondo asked for a kiss, Taka would not hesitate to do it. ~ and Finally, eventually, a Confession (this is another comic, but it’ll deffo be a while before this one is done)

Takemichi sees the Oowada brothers as a single unit - he is 'second’ to both of them. So, whilst Mondo is at Hope’s Peak, Takemichi defaults to keeping an eye on Daiya to give Mondo some piece of mind, since Daiya still a target for rival gangs. Takemichi’s title of ‘second’ is just a formality of the gang. Daiya doesn’t really go in for the hierarchy stuff, but it’s the gang that insists on it and Mondo unfortunately really internalised it. From the gang’s perspective, you have the suave leader, his sharp, loyal 2nd in command and his volatile brother he has to reign in, when in reality Daiya delegated a lot of his responsibilities to Mondo and Michi over time, and was more a figurehead than an actual leader by his retirement.

(I’ve got some more Leon in a future comic - have a peek, he’s got such a cheeky face) [this comic is now done!]

Mondo’s unsuccessful romantic attempts are the favourite gossip topic of a surprising amount of class 78 tho’ not within earshot of Mondo obviously - They’re secretly cheering him on but they also have a betting pool based on how quickly he’ll scare the girl away. Celeste has made a very tidy profit.

I agree, Mondo in specs is A+, but yes, ‘tis a persona reference.  I FULLY recommend Persona 4 if you get the chance! It’s a JRPG, but the ‘dungeons’ are people’s psyches, and when they’re inside they have to confront a ‘shadow’ which is basically some aspect of themselves they’ve repressed or heavily dislike. The stress of being in the dungeons causes people to get dizzy and confused, and the glasses stop that- it suggests Mondo has already confronted his own shadow, before Taka had to confront his. . .

That’s some excellent analysis right there! Taka 100% has some deep seated issues to do with his relationship with control. I think his new friendship with someone so far outside his understood norm of ‘acceptable’ would have rattled some of those insecurities loose.  There would be an inherent need for Taka to try to ‘improve’ Mondo’s behaviour - to try to make Mondo more “acceptable to society”, the way Taka was taught to be. But by doing so, he would be removing something that makes Mondo who he is. It would come down to an internal fight of being a hypocrite for overlooking Mondo’s anti-social behaviour, or trying to control Mondo and making him into something he’s not. Taka would hate himself for not being able to accept Mondo wholesale, the way he wishes people would accept himself, and the way he knows friends SHOULD do - basically a microcosm of the wider span of his anxiety with his chosen path and future.

(ahh! <3 thanks very much!) Here’s a bit of a behind the scenes! I do all my sketches in colour ‘cos I find it easier on my eyes. I have trouble telling the difference between colours of a close tone, so it’s easier to see when distinguishing between the sketch and the black lines when I’m doing lineart. Red just happens to be my go to since it’s quickest to get to on the colour slider and I’m lazy. The sketches you see are pretty much 1 to 1 what I use for lineart, minus the half tones. If I have multiple sketch layers, I’ll use multiple colours so I can see easier, but usually I do all my sketches directly on my guideline layer because I’m a madman. Here’s a coupla examples:

here’s a rare one where I didn’t draw directly onto my messy af guidelines- but I always start with red, then blue, then green and very occasionally purple if I need a fourth.

I keep the mini-comic sketches in red since I think it looks better. Black is harsh and can be unforgiving and I think it makes it easier to see how rough my sketches are. In colour it’s a little softer - and to me - more pleasing to the eye! (and even when I do use black- it’s usually at partial opacity to soften it out)

Haha lol going to talk about Yogs for a minute

Because I absolutely love reading and listening to people's interpretations of the Yogscast timeline. And I'm talking about the Minecraft shit here, as in that whole beautiful scripted era of videos they did in the past.

The main storyline I watched was the Flux Buddies story. I watched the Jaffa Factory POV when it came to Tekkit, and even further before that, SoI. I've never watched, say, any of Lomadiah's old Minecraft content, and sadly I have never watched Blackrock (although it is on my watch list.)

But even though I haven't seen anything like the SipsCo videos, or Martyn's old Minecraft videos that loosely fitted with this universe, I love to learn about them. I love reading about how people think things went down. And by this I mean the fuckin detail that some people go into when they refer to their own ideas for the timelines of events.

For example, Xephos as a character. I love it when people link him to Israphel, and I love watching people show his descent into madness from that bright eyed shipwrecked spaceman into the cold unfeeling CEO of Yoglabs. I love reading about the horrors he put his friends through, and how some part of him surely must know that it was wrong, and feel remorse.

My favourite character throughout everything is Lalna, or Duncan. I think Duncan himself is funny and entertaining in real life, but the absolute detail that has been built up over the years in terms of his Minecraft counterpart? Chefs kiss

I live for the posts people make trying to decipher the cloning issue surrounding Lalna! Some people theorise that Lalnable is a future version of Lalna that went batshit crazy and came back for revenge, whilst some people think he's a previous version of Lalna that lost his morals in Yoglabs and had to be locked away. There are too many Lalnae across too many timelines of events, and some of them overlap and meet one another in confusing events such as the Flux Buddies/Magic Police crossover, which I find hilarious every time I think about how confused both parties were.

That in itself is just baffling, because do Lalnae know there are others? They can't, right? Since both Lalnae here weren't aware of each other until they met. But Lalna is aware of Lalnable, so how is that different?

Outside of Lalnae, there's lore that I love in characters such as Rythian. I've not watched Blackrock to date, but I know enough about him from his fans that I love his character without seeing him in game. I am obsessed with his design as a whole, the fan headcannons on his enderman similarities and stuff. And his mask! God damn the amount of different sketchings and interpretations on what's under his mask!

What I'm saying is I love everyone who posts these drawings and theories and opinions on the scripted world that the Yogs built back then. And please never stop theorising.

I'm relatively new here :3 just wanted to say that I just got back into the kotlc fandom and I'm obsessed with the wings au- it's one of the first not-xreader fanfics I've genuinely enjoyed and gotten so invested in. Also welcome to/back to the fandom! It's fairly small overall and relatively stagnant at the moment (the two year gap between books has really changed things), but there's a solid handful of us who are here and refuse to let go :)

I'm absolutely thrilled that you love the dynamics between the characters because I think that was one of the things I was the most...not nervous, but unsure about? Not that I didn't want to do it, because I very much did, but it's generally a different dynamic than a lot of the other fics in the fandom. All the ship fics are wonderful, I was just very aware that I was intentionally flat out ignoring all romance in a fandom that loves it. I wanted to go for a "they're all a family and it's like they've always been a family and they trust each other and are there for each other without hesitation or awkwardness" kinda thing. I have one note from my original layout that just says "(domestic)" when talking about all of them.

The wing designs!! I love them all so much and it was so fun to try and figure out what to do for each of them. I was trying to do wings that were a little more obvious for the characters and wouldn't require anyone to really search up anything to figure out why they had them, more follow a mental association. Like with Linh's dragonfly wings, dragonfly you think water and Linh is a water person! The added detail of her wings specifically relating to dragons was a bonus play on words there, but do you get what i mean about the association? That's what I was going for.

The story line! It has developed so much since I first wrote it there are things happening that I never planned for and things that I meant to do that got completely ignored, but I love where the au has ended up and where it's going. It is still heading towards its original ending, but it's gotten there a different way and with different dynamics and important characters. Like Phoenix (the girl) originally was just a throwaway character from the first chapter that got the kotlcrew out of a sticky situation and made them face some things as they did so, but then someone asked about her and I went...wait a minute you're right why is she there? And now she's got a lot of relevance to like. Literally everything happening.

It's so cool that it's inspired you--if you ever do write/draw/make your own aus I'd love to see them! And if you ever have any questions on how I've made mine I love to talk about everything always, so you'll probably get a lot more information than you could ever want

As for fanart, of course!! I love seeing fanart of the au it always such a delight. Please do tag me, that way I can see it!! It's so cool to see how people interpret the words I've put down because I almost never have a concrete image in my head. I'm just going for vibes and then those vibes become different things to different people and it's so fun to see.

I just discovered your art recently and I love your style and composition and expressions and everything? The way you draw Shizuo and Izaya is amazing and I admire the huge project you've taken on with adapting ACI, your comics are so much and I'm so looking forward to seeing your take on certain scenes if you ever get to them. As for your question, I don't think it is my favorite fic, but it's very high up my list! I don't think I could rank them, actually. I just have some sort of big "fics I utterly love" aquarium and they're all swimming around in there, for various different reasons, tropes, scenarii, writing styles.

But there ARE particular reasons I always come back to it.

it's the most well-paced enemies-to-lovers story I've read. It's a very long book and it never takes shortcuts. It takes all the time it needs to establish the colossal character development they have to go through.

The characterization of Izaya and Shizuo feels ON POINT. They're assholes to each other, to other people, so far in their own head they don't see the big picture, they're very serious about wanting to kill each other. But they've also known each other for 10 years and you can just feel it in every interaction.

The dialogue are snappy and every line calls for the next one (which makes the adaptation job really hard btw because sometimes I HAVE to scrap bits of dialogues for the speech bubbles and 1) it breaks my heart, 2) every line is SO important, I can't scrap a sentence without having to rewrite the whole bit, or its answer, or the joke it announces for 3 chapters later)

The writing is so good. It looks pretty simple at first glance, but the description job is very effective. And more importantly everything's a mesh of foreshadowing and hidden references. The dialogues, the imagery, don't get me started I could write a paper on this. There is SO MUCH stuff you have to read between the lines to catch. Izaya and Shizuo are unreliable narrators, how they interpret the situation, what they take from it, a lot of it is incomplete. I've first read ACI in 2017, and I've read it so many times by now, both for myself and for the comic work, and every time I find something new I had not noticed. It's FASCINATING.

The scenario itself? Chef kiss. The balance between horror, angst, genuinely soft interactions and humor is great, and it's actually THE long fic I can't choose a favorite chapter from. Every chapter has at least one very good thing in it.

This is very summarized (i could go into so much depth, i'm not joking about the paper thing gdjjhfd) and of course there are things I like less in it. Stuff I already worked my way around, and plan to work my way around in future chapters (it's mostly the way sexuality is treated I'm a bit uncomfortable with, but Spoon gave me her authorization to take artistic liberties so *WINK*) What you said about experiencing the story again from me got me emotional, thank you a lot again;;

The Costuming and Coloring of JATP : Part 1 - Julie Molina

I’ve seen so many of these posts and I wanted to make my own! I love costuming and color theory in film and I thought I’d do my own take on jatp! Please keep in mind that I am by no means an expert and this is only my thoughts, and feel free to add your own interpretations and thoughts :)

Heads up this is a super long post (I won’t be coving all of Julie’s outfits, only the ones that have significant meaning)

And none of this could have been possible without Soyon An, the costume designer of jatp! All referenced quotes and information for her can be found here, here, and here

One of the main difficulties of costume design is having the clothing fit the period, tone of the piece, and the character. The characters have to wear the clothes, not the other way around. Who is this person? What are their conflicts? How do they look at the world? What do they value? How do they grow? Just some examples of what good costume designers ask. 

They can also be used as a subtle tool to show who each character is; how we dress is a reflection of ourselves.

JULIE MOLINA:

Ok so we all know she is an absolute queen with AMAZING fits, even from the start of the show! I’m going to go chronologically, just to make it easier on all of us!

Julie starts off the series in a baggy yellow sweatshirt over her blue and white shirt, her painted jeans, fluffy slippers, and a set of necklaces! (Actually we first see her at school, where she wearing a flannel instead of the sweatshirt, but the same concepts apply) This already gives us A TON of information on her!!

Her necklaces include a Virgin Mary pendant, a nod to her heritage and religion and one of her own name, which we can assume is a gift from someone special to her

She puts on the sweatshirt after she gets home and bombed playing in front of her class. Idk about you, but I always want to wear sweatshirts and comfy clothes whenever I feel down, so I infer that that is what Julie is doing! 

There is also something to be said about the visual irony between bright yellow smiley face on the front and Julie’s own grieving

(Also can I just say that I love that Julie is allowed to be a teen and wear silly slippers because their comfortable clothes. I am so tried of teenagers being over sexualized and as a brown girl myself, it’s wonderful to see these multidimensional non white characters!)

Her own painted jeans, (also pretty baggy) and sneakers as said by Soyon An, are painted by Julie! (We also see her creativity later when drawing a cupcake on her mic for Luke’s bday, but that’s another post)

Her creativity seems to have no bounds, and it’s obvious that from the start that this is how she expresses herself!

If you want to get really analytical, one could say that the bright yellow covering up her blue collar could show how Julie herself is trying to cover up her own sadness

The blue and yellow also come up in another scene of hers with Luke, but that is another post entirely

JUST FROM HER CLOTHES ALONE WE, THE VIEWERS, ALREADY SUBCONCIOUSLY KNOW SOOOO MUCH ABOUT JULIE:

She’s most likely Catholic and cherishes her religion and family

She’s not feeling too confident in herself

She’s crazy creative and talented

She’s trying to mask some sort of sadness

ISN’T THAT INSANE??? A TELL TALE SIGN OF A GOOD COSTUMER!

Julie then moves to plaid pants and a cropped lavender blouse (Which I absolutely adore!!!) 

She has just met the boys, and Luke gave her that little pep talk in front of the studio and is now wearing form fitting clothes!

DON’T TWIST THIS: She’s wearing these clothes because she now feels more confident in herself and is ready to sit down and play Wake Up

Julie is wearing more subdued colors; the focus isn’t on her outfit, that’s not where the color is. The color is lighting Julie from behind. The focus of the moment is Julie and her music.

You’ll also notice the lighting behind her shifts from the cold early morning, to the sun rising behind her, again, very poetic. The sun is literally rising on Julie and it is a new dawn for her, and the start of the show itself

Not to mention Wake Up which is literally about moving forward and... waking up lol

This is maybe one of my favorite performance outfits of her! (Who am I kidding, all of them are my favorite)

Julie is wearing a camo jumpsuit with patches and her signature sneakers

The patches, once again, show us that Julie is creative in many ways along with her shoes

I love that all of her outfits seem like the average person could make them and wear them. Yet, these characters are still teenagers and are discovering their own personal style, which can be sort of outlandish. It really works to ground the show in reality with all of the kooky happenings

Julie is once again wearing her necklaces, and we can infer that she wears them all of the time

In this outfit (with an added Double Trouble tshirt underneath), she also sings Flying Solo. The jumpsuit is a reflection of her friendships with the guys and Flynn!

And this outfit with Bright??? Chefs kiss. This is the subtle characterization I live for!

Julie’s actress, Madison Reyes’, mother is in the armed forces. She and Soyon wanted an outfit to pay homage to her, and I think the camo works perfectly

By this time we already have a good grasp on who Julie is

Julie is wearing a neon blue leotard, silver white pants, fishnets, her drawn on white sneakers and a rainbow chunky sequin cloak. She also find a drum major’s cape from the music room. She has her hair in the same cornrowed way as she does in Stand Tall, with pink, red, and blue ribbons.

While I may be jumping the gun this early in the post, I love this detail. This is her fantasy which ends up coming true in the final number and that is just beautiful

Julie’s fantasy outfit in I Got the Music is so extra and wonderful

This is Julie’s idealized self; it is bright and unapologetic and you can’t help but notice her. The outfit is purposefully outlandish and completely unrealistic

This is the first thing that clues you in that this is a fantasy; she does a quick change from her previous outfit. You can also see that her trio of necklaces aren’t there.

She keeps some elements from her actual school outfit, the pants and presumably the leotard, they just get an upgrade

Ok now onto the breakdown:

These are her school colors

This is the first time we see Julie in blue since the first episode. So far, we have seen her in muted tones. This time the blue is vibrant. This signals to the viewers that she is not hiding anymore and has almost reclaimed the color

Soyon specifically said she wanted a hood for Julie such as the Virgin Mary is traditionally depicted with a head covering

Julie is wearing her school colors loud and proud with a cropped LFHS reddish hoodie, underneath is a bright blue leotard, a blue belt, and white distressed jeans and fishnets

Julie is now fully in her element and has formed a band with the boys!!! Woohoo!

If you recall, in this episode, Julie also interacts the most with Carrie and Nick up until now; the two characters rooted in her school life.

Most everything I said in the previous section is here too, just a little toned down.

One thing that I see in this outfit is that she’s wearing a little bit of the boys’ themes; Luke’s blue, Reggie’s red, and Alex’s denim and grey. 

This is also the day that she gets into the conflict with the boys, they go to Bobby’s to get revenge, lie to her, and bail on the dance. I see this as them becoming closer and then falling farther apart.

Julie is also wearing fishnets and socks, which mirrors Dirty Candi’s performance of Wow. This is a wonderful detail to show that the two aren’t so different after all.

I love this outfit and I will forever be mad that we never got to see her perform in it

Julie is wearing her mothers mesh tie dye top, a black tank top, and loose black striped pants

THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT: This is the first time we see her wear her mother’s clothes, a physical representation of her coming to terms with her mother’s death!!!

This is also when Flynn comes up with Julie and the Phantoms, another big milestone. This is when they were supposed to make a mark on her school

(Ofc we all know this is when the boys bail...)

The next day, Julie is wearing a powder blue floral dress, sneakers, with a white t shirt and a cream colored cropped fluffy jacket (this is most aligned with my aesthetic)

Again, this shows that she is experimental with her clothes

 It is also worth noting that Soyon does a good job with establishing that she is a sneaker head, I mean have you seen her kicks????

Now is a good time to talk about character colors: good media will establish a color per character. This helps viewers easily distinguish who they are and how they connect to others. Characters may wear these colors a lot or have significant moments in these colors

The colors also have their own meanings which apply (we’ll look more into this in the Stand Tall dress)

Luke is blue, Julie is purple (as we will see later on), Alex is pink, and Reggie is Red

When characters wear another character’s color it signals to us that they will be having a ‘moment’ with the other character (getting along after fighting, learning something new, etc.)

Alternatively, if a character is wearing colors opposite to another, you know they will clash

In this episode, Julie goes to Luke’s house and learns more about him and Emily AND SHES’S WEARING HIS BLUE!!! BIG MOMENT!!!

ONCE YOU NOTICE COLOR IN FILM, YOU CAN LEARN TO PREDICT WHERE THE STORY IS GOING. THESE ARE SOME HELPFUL HINTS:

Notice a character’s colors and when another character wears them, they will be having a ‘moment’

If the color in the scene isn’t on the character, the focus isn’t on them, maybe it’s on the emotions of the scene or other characters

Colors WILL signify emotions; yellow is happy, blue can be sad or calming depending on the shade, red can be passion or anger. If a character wears a lot of one color, you can predict their emotions

Ok no hate, this is definitely not my favorite outfit. It gives me mad Shake It Up vibes, not that that’s bad, just not my thing.

Julie performs Finally Free in a teal and black dress/shirt, silver biker short, a black vest, and arm bands

It has been confirmed by Charlie and Madison that this is when Luke realizes he like Julie, which makes sense as you see that she is wearing blue (She will now start wearing more of these cool tones)

She is also wearing arm bands, something Luke does often

Her vest is also the same one as the girl from the beginning, which we all know by now is Rose, her mother!

She has upcycled the vest and added her own special twists to it! It also helps for us to see connection between Rose and performing

You can also see a dahlia pin, her mother’s favorite flower. These often make an appearance! (They’re also purple)

It’s Edge of Great Time!! This is maybe the most iconic outfit!

Julie performs in a white blouse with butterflies, her hair also with butterfly clips, her pants are constructed beautifully with black and white panels. She finished the outfit with black and white combat boots and more butterflies!

Soyon specifically said that the butterflies represent Julie coming out of her cocoon and coming into herself, like a butterfly would!

This is truly her most powerful and performance worthy outfit and sucks all of the attention to her

Julie’s clean contrast of black and white also make her stand out from the rest of the band! The combination is often a symbol of power and truth! (Think judges robes)

Time to get some tissues, Unsaid Emily, it’s your turn!

This is what I consider Julie’s most average and basic outfit, but there is a lot to analyze here: A magenta sweater and jeans.

This sweater is her mothers; meaning it is probably a comforting item for her, seeing as she is about to have a very emotional moment, calling back to that yellow sweater in the beginning!

Also see how this has blue, pink, and red designs, and I’m sure by now you can tell what I am going to say: These are the guys colors! 

She’s going to have a heartfelt moment involving them, and it fits. This is one of the emotional climax’s of the show and this is when she becomes even closer with the Phantoms

You can tell, just from her standing on the steps of Luke’s house what is about to go down (Well maybe not all of the tears, but still)

Julie goes to check on the guys in the studio in a blue floral shirt and blue jeans

These are once again, Luke’s colors, but are slowly becoming THEIR colors. She wears these when she is saying goodbye to her best friends

This is also the outfit that Julie’ wears when she finds them after the performance and they haven’t crossed over. 

It makes perfect sense that she is wearing all blue when SHE AND LUKE HUG!!! (And then all of the boys too in the best group hug ever)

Of course we’re gonna end the post with this absolutely ICONIC outfit!

Julie is wearing a purple dress with purple tulle, a bedazzled leather jacket, and her hair IN THE SAME STYLE AS I GOT THE MUSIC!!!

Lets go one by one:

The dress is a Balmain dress that Soyon got for $500, then she completely deconstructed it and made it to fit Madison! that’s incredible

This is the climax of the show: the boy are ‘doing their unfinished business,’ Julie is playing the Orpheum, and what color is she wearing but PURPLE! What color are dahlias? PURPLE! What color has had the most significance? PURPLE! What do red, blue, and pink make up? PURPLE! PURPLE IS JULIE’S CHARACTER COLOR

You’ll also notice that her jacket has pink, red, and blue accents, the colors of Alex, Reggie and, Luke, to show that they have become a part of her and she is now a part of them

That’s the same for her hair

It shows how she has now achieved her dream, her make believe world is now her reality

I really think we’ll see more of Julie in purple in the seasons to come, now that she has found herself

I hope that you all have learned a little about color and costuming in this post! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes really fun, like a puzzle!

Star Wars Inspired Outfit Concepts 1

Jango Fett / Boba Fett / Din Djarin

Jango (Kamino)

I was inspired by Jango’s outfit (pjs?) on Kamino. The power that scene where he rolls his sleeves up has over me is just chefs kiss. Tbh I just really like rompers and the gunslinger aesthetic of his belt(which I was actually more inspired by Ahsoka’s belt for but shhhh). Ahsoka also inspired adding the kar’ta to the design as her outfit during the seige of Mandalore had one snuck on there!

Jango

I really like the aesthetic I achieved for all the mandos though this one I’m still uncertain of. Maybe the color balance is a bit off? The color of his kute is different in comics sometimes so I did make a version with that coloration. Idk I really do like the whole fishnet/keyhole/crop look, maybe I’ve just been looking at it for too long lmao. Anyway this one is just like a “wearable” interpretation of Jango’s armor. I tried to keep this one kinda spicier because the bts of AOTC says Jango’s armor supposed to have a new millennium chic kinda look.

Boba

I love this look, it think it’s the first one where I achieved the perfect mix of SW and an outifit that could conceivably be worn. I gave this one a hood solely because I though it made it seem a bit edgier (although I did consider it a sorta joke before I drew up the rest- Boba has a hood but Jango doesn’t). I think this one just really really work and captures what I want exactly.

Boba (Tatooine)

I also very much love this one. Boba just looks so great in The Mandalorian. I forwent any fishnet in this so it would be distinct and have more of a updated/restored vibe to go with the fact that Boba repainted his armor. I thought a clasp near the collarbone would just make it a bit edgier. Tbh I was absolutely just going to do a skirt bc I thought Boba was wearing one in the show and was very disappointed to find out it was more of a Rey situation, so I settled for 3/4ths of a skirt. I also had the pants be gathered at the bottom like joggers instead of open like the cargo pants of the past incarnations to create another difference in silhouette and detail. Also, I brought the keyhole back because I wanted to (honestly that’s where like 90% of my design choices come from lol).

Din Djarin

This one is the most covered up of all of them so it’d look unique but also because of the creed (you’d have to pry cute crop top beskar’gam with my cold dead hands though). I love love love the look of long sleeves with thumb holes so thats absolutely what’s happening here. This one I’m iffy on the references for this one because I looked at pre beskar and post beskar images so it might be slightly off? I’m not sure. Also I just really wanted one deep pocket to double as the thigh plate and sling he keeps Grogu in (I absolutely just used a photo of the Grogu ityy bitty plush bc I couldn’t be bothered to actually draw him oops). I really do love this though I might mess around with the left leg a bit?

Anyway I’ve got a TON more of these concepts in the works so feel free to talk to me about them. Maybe if my sewing machine was working I’d actually try to mess around and make these but for now they’re just concepts. One day though...

7.  Name your favorite fancreator(s)

Gosh there are so many....

First a foremost @asking-gereng/TeethHoarder: Like obviously. They are one of the biggest GerEng creators who is still active. Their ask blog is so cute and sweet and funny. I love their characterizations of the characters though they do differ slightly from my own interpretation. And their art style is so cute! Also their writing is *chefs kiss.* “Are Friends Electric?” has to be my most favorite fanfiction and I can’t wait to see what happens next in it. 

Second is @kyokyo866 and @thriftlita: I love when they do let’s plays of Hetalia games. They are such a joy to watch with their voices and improv and bounce off each other so well. Also, Kyo’s fangames are amazing with Dreamtalia being my favorite fangame of all time (also Erroneous Epilogue...for obvious reasons). And Lubo’s art is just...so pretty. Like, I’d love to draw like that.

Third is  @iship2muchshit: I love their fanfiction so much and not only because I love the ships they write. Like all their fics are so sweet and funny at the same time and very much appreciate those who write GerEng (and by extension, those who write GerFrUK). 

Then there is @chiring-art: Like their art so pretty. I look at it and I’m like...how do you art? Its so detailed and pretty and their main ship they draw for is amazing!!!

I also love @thatsamericano: Romerica isn’t a big, big ship of mine, but their fanfictions are amazing and I love to read them. 

Lastly there is @modernday-jay: There Aus are amazing. Their office Au and Beatlemaniac/ directioner Arthur have to be my favorites. 

And that’s all I can think of off the top of my head, but there is plenty of others. 

12. Whose stronger; Hungary or America?

That’s a tough one. America is obviously abnormally strong being able to pick up a buffalo as a child and pull a car as an adult. At the same time Hungary was able to take down a whole army. I wouldn’t say she’s as physically strong as America (since I tend to headcanon him as physically the most strongest), but she is very skilled and very agile. She is definitely physically strong as well. 

19. Nations you want to see receive and character design.

First that comes to mind is the other members of the UK. I mean we technically got designs, but I don’t think we know for sure whose who, so I’d like that cleared up. Also would love to see them in the series interacting with Arthur.

Untamed rewatch Episode 20

Wei Wuxian is back, and would like Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan to know that he’s completely, totally fine, and not torturing people to death to cope or something

-my mom says wen chao is really good at looking crazy lmao

-I GASPED WHEN WWX SHOWED UP WITH THE FLUTE HE’S SO HOT

-god I love this music it’s so eerie and evocative

-the way it’s shown that jiaojiao and wen chao are being tormented by the spirits of people whose deaths they were responsible for...that’s so spicy. shout out to wei wuxian and his deeply twisted, horrific, but powerful sense of justice lmao.

-the scene where lwj and jc investigate all the dead wen cultivators is nice and spooky. I love the horror aspects of this show

-my sister pointed out that when someone tells jc that a woman hanged herself inside the office, he might’ve reacted as he did because he thought it was wen qing :(

-my mom complained about Netflix not translating the seal script on the talismans but my understanding is that it’s not language, as such

-oh I forgot about jiang cheng’s conversation with wen qing here. this is gonna hurt.

-“you have saved me after all” she has more than you know, jiang cheng

-hearing her very deliberately call him sect leader jiang is such a punch in the gut, both cause it’s a reminder of the fact that this man’s whole family is dead now, and because she’s drawing attention to the political situation that means he can’t reasonably help her. I think at this time in his life, jiang cheng really might’ve done everything in his power to protect her and her family, but that’s a narrow window of time, defined by the unstable situation of sunshot, his inexperience as sect leader, and the fact that he’s lost so much. once wei wuxian comes back, I think jiang cheng steps more fully into his role as sect leader, until the idea of protecting the wens is unthinkable.

-“you can save me but you can’t save them all” fuck this hurts so bad looking forward. another way jiang cheng is shown up by his brother - wei wuxian did manage to save wen qing’s family. but it didn’t and couldn’t last, just as she predicted. 

-“he bled from all the holes of his head” is such a cool and gross thing to say lol

-okay again wen zhuliu is funnier on a rewatch. he hates this so much.

-the problem with the soundtrack here is that you sometimes can’t tell whether the flute is meant to be diegetic or not

-god the slowly ratcheting tension of wwx’s entrance... *chef’s kiss*

-when he starts playing, the background fades into the burial mounds for a few moments, and wei wuxian just smiiiiiles...fucking superb you funky little necromancer.

-love this random ghost lady we never see again

-oh boy. oh man. the first time I watched this show I spent episodes 14-19 yelling variations on HUG YOUR SIBLING GODDAMN IT, so when we got The Hug I broke. I think I may have actually cried.

-oh god, an arrangement of the lotus pier theme plays during The Hug

-just as wwx reaches up (slowly, uncertainly) to return the embrace, jiang cheng pulls away

-“how could I have been in the burial mounds? no one can survive that place” that’s as close as you’re going to get to a cry for help huh

-wei wuxian is so much...stiffer, less relaxed. his movements are more controlled, his gestures less expansive than they were pre-burial mounds. he does a little bit of the brat act when lwj talks to him but it looks artificial. he smiles earnestly when jiang cheng talks to him, but it doesn’t last long.

-“as for my temperament, I’m in control of my own mind” famous last words, my dude

-this argument is. oof.

-I’m not clear that it would’ve helped, I don’t think wwx trusted him enough, but if lwj could have just said “I care about you and I want you to be okay, I don’t think you’re in a good place” in so many words...Mm. But he would have to be a very different character. lan zhan is so defined by what he can’t say, what he doesn’t know how to say, and what he does say that gets misinterpreted because he’s expressing himself through the prism of the inflexible rules he was taught. concern on lan wangji looks too much like disapproval for poor neurotic wei wuxian to take it gracefully, and they both suffer for it!

-like, what’s happening here is that to lan zhan, wei wuxian is visibly Not Okay and is using resentful energy, which is fucked up, and jiang cheng is too thrilled over having his shixiong back to really notice. so he points out that resentful energy is really dangerous for the person who uses it, because he’s afraid for wei wuxian. and wei wuxian, on a hair trigger because he just barely survived three months of torture and sensitized to anything that even looks like disapproval by his shitty adoptive parents, interprets this as an insult - how dare you think I can’t handle this? how dare you see I can’t handle this, how dare you see that I’m suffering? and so he gets nasty and cutting, and lan zhan, who i’m absolutely sure doesn’t understand why wei wuxian is angry with him, gets angry right back. and wei wuxian says the most cruel thing he can: “this is an internal measure of yunmeng jiang, it’s none of your concern.” or, the way he’s intending it: i don’t care about your opinion and i don’t care about you. 

-and lan zhan, unable to deal with it anymore, walks out, which we know he does when he’s angry, to go turn the words over in his head. this...honestly gives me autistic lwj feels. he’s trying so, so hard to reach out to wwx when that’s a really hard thing for him to do! he has a hard time relating to people! and he gets rebuffed in a way that makes it clear he’s failed to be a friend like he was trying to be and he doesn’t even know why. (which is not just on him, wwx is Not being forthcoming) and that sure is..an experience. which i have had.

-(i’m also imagining he picked up this method of handling his anger from xichen, personally. just walk away, wangji. don’t fight, no matter how much someone hurts you, no matter how wrong it feels :’)

-lwj’s expression when he listens to them killing wen chao reminds me of the rain scene ._. 

-yanli as a medic feels kind of stereotypical but she’d be good at it

-the way yanli’s face changes when she hears wwx’s voice...i kind of haven’t liked her performance (mostly, i think, because she’s been given so little to do) but this little moment...wow

-my mom really wants to know what happened in the burial mounds! we had a conversation about dizi (wwx’s flute) vs xiao (lxc’s flute) also because. i looked it up lol. I might make a meta post since there’s some interesting details

2019 Megaman Valentine’s Day (Talent) Contest Results!

Part two of results day, even though I always label the Talent category as Cat. 1, these results are in reverse. Category 1 (Talent) - The Way To A Mega Man’s Heart Is Through His Stomach

This category had the larger amount of participants, and was honestly a lot harder to judge. I really was going back and forth on where to place people, because I love so much about all of them! Your delicious culinary character combos were all delectable in their own right, whether they were actually edible pieces of art or not. I did leave this category up to interpretation a bit more, despite the initial description wording it as a food-themed pinup. As long as it contained some sort of food with a character, it technically fit the theme.

1.) @prar-draws​ - Zero and Ciel

While most entries focused on sugary sweets, such as pastries or candies, prar thought outside of the box just enough to stand out against the rest. Taking Zero and Ciel’s already long hair and turning it into ramen and soba noodles, the pair are relaxing together in an overflowing hot tub bowl of their pasta-y strands, broth, veggies and then some, while they enjoy their own bowls of noodles. Despite being heavily layered in clothing, *warning* this is one steamy, saucy pic! XD

2.) @digitallyfanged​ - Tron Bonne and Megaman Volnutt

Ever the tease, Tabby’s Tron is wooing Volnutt with a sugary-sweet sensory overload at the hands of both her, and her Servbots. Or maybe at the head, too, based on that 2-tier strawberry cake that doubles as a hat on happy Servbot. While including so many treats were definitely eye candy in this piece, so too is Tron in that dress, causing Volnutt to deeply blush. 

The soft glow of the lighter transparency background, along with the usual shine of your lighting on the pair in the foreground, help them stand out. Even if my mouth is watering more at all the Servbot’s treats. Hahaha.

3.) @irischroma​ - Nana

Nana is ready to split her banana split sundae with you. I see what you did there. Your mission is to follow her every command as she feeds you, in her bonus rpg/sim screencap. I really liked the use of multiple halftones to accent the shading on both her and the background of the full image. The background itself is really cool, to incorporate the ice cream mounds, syrup and sprinkles, which also actually align nicely with the sprinkles on her apron. Truly adorbs.

The first entry to embrace food-themed clothing, Marino is the living embodiment of the chocolate peppermint sundae she is holding. I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, so Marino’s green hair and clothing accents fit that ice cream color perfectly. Also while tying in your traditional peppermints as accessories on her, as well as the sort of melty pinkish mascara dripping down the side of her cheeks.

@drewblossom​ - Ice Man and Roll

Another great use of food-styled clothing, Drew made a precious cinnamon roll dress for Roll, and an ice cream cone vest with a more whipped topping trim for Ice Man. Ice’s hair also adds to that whipped cream feel, yet despite dancing around, does a good job keeping that cherry from falling off the top of his head. XD This is a super cute scene, and has even better apparel style.

@hyperbole1729​ - Tundra Man, Top Man, Snow Robbit and Eye Ice

The first of two yummy cookie entries, which I’ll assume were baked around the same time, feature both real world treats, and 2D ones. I give Hyperbole big props for making the Snow Robbit and Eye Ice enemies into cookie shape form. They look super delicious, and I’m a guy who loves cookies with tons of frosting. XD Taking the pic on a wintry snowflake plate makes them stand out even more, so I totally loved your creativity with that. 

That baking didn’t only take place in Hyperbole’s kitchen, as Tundra and Top also spent the day making the same treats. I think their cookie cutter shapes have given me a clue to how you made yours. LOL Very cute!

@larytello​ - Zero and Ciel

Strawberry cake seemed to be the most popular choice of romantic treats, and here lary has Zero feeding Ciel her slice. Your digital airbrush shading has really improved, and it shows in this piece! It really gives a nice depth and definition to their arms and legs, not to mention the folds in Ciel’s dress, or the shine off of their helmets. Even with the heavily pink background, with all the hearts, they both still stand out nicely against it, despite their color schemes. Super cute!

@papillonthepirate​ - Roll.EXE

Our other real world food entry is a sugar frosted Roll.EXE cookie, complete with rosy cheek sprinkles and lemon-flavored ribbon candy antennae attached to her. Again, like Hyperbole’s submission, Papillon had the perfect heart decal plate design to help accentuate her creation, along with the doily it’s sitting on. I’m sure she was delicious! I appreciate the extra creativity taking the theme of the contest literally and making an actual tasty Mega Man character treat!

@peach35​ - X and Zero

A very cute scene of X and Zero sharing desert and a drink with swirly-shape sippy straws at a quaint little bistro off the shores of Dopple Town. And I’d imagine the pair of strawberries left snuggling on the table also sort of symbolize the hunter couple cuddling up after their cake and conversation, too. Pardon the pun, but I like the slice of life feel to the scene, that sort of gives it this Norman Rockwell-styled feel. The detail on your strawberries and lemon slices really turned out quite great; they look pretty real!

SockMonkii - Ashe

Ashe is so busy devouring that chocolate/strawberry filled cake slice, I don’t know if she fully realizes how much she has missed on her face. XD In fact, I think she’s likely eyeing the rest of the whole cake as the booty she’s after, rather than of any admirer. LOL The ribbon and bow background, along with all the hearts, help emphasize the cake as a romantic gift. Again, I see a lot of growth and improvement in your art style after a year’s time, and I think this pic turned out great!

@star-crossed-swords​ - Blues and Tempo

While definitely a sweet and romantic drawing, this entry felt like it fit in more with last year’s humor category theme, Beauty and the Beastman.EXE, that I almost wondered if you got mixed up with an older contest post. ^^; So I decided to go with the assumption that Quake Woman/Tempo had something delicious leftover on her hand that Blues was kissing off of her, to fit it within the content requirements. :D Their formalwear looks very nice on both of them. I like the sparkles on her dress coordinating with the starry sky outside the window. 

SubZeroIceSkater - Tundra Man

I totally read that tagline in Tundra Man’s voice. And the more bittersweet, the more pure chocolate, so it sounds good to me! Containing most of his stage enemies in cacao form, this box of chocolates is like a your chances at an extra life in item roulette. You never know what you’re gonna get. That’s sort of reverse Forrest Gump logic...right? I love how the box is designed just like his helmet’s rupee with icicles protruding, along with all the beautiful sparkling snowflakes and hearts in the background. I want a box, badly!
