The whole Once-ler family is working full tilt!

Here's my full piece for the VK Onceler Zine! I was very lucky to get to be a part of it...🥹 I used concept art as my inspiration this time: [link] Keep reading below for my process vid and all my director's commentary!

Thank you for being curious! Here's a video of my WIPs:

Deadlines were TIGHT for this zine! We were given only 2 months (compared to the 6 months I had on the previous onceler zine), so to make sure I could finish on time, I decided to do only base colours and lighting, with almost no shading anywhere. Still, trying to balance all the colours took the longest for me, as you can see in the vid. xP

Also idk if anyone noticed, but for the face I chose to use an already existing onceler doodle: [link] Why? Well, why not! I really liked that doodle and I didn't want it to go to waste. 😆

Things that I enjoyed sneaking in:

-the golden spiral! Vaguely, at least! At the very least I hope your eyes can follow the order of thneed production, from the fallen tree at the window to the tuft harvesting to the thread spinning, to knitting the thneed and then drawing up plans for bigger and better things, and then ending with him pulling on his iconic glove to show he's going to take control now

-15 cents, a nail, and a great great great grandfather snail, as well as a tin pail since that's where you're supposed to deposit your payment

-combining things from the 2012 movie and concept art, the 1972 movie, and the 1971 book (e.g. that funny wrench he uses to fix pipes)

-Miss O'Schmunce-ler! You can see from the vid that I added the bracelet pretty late, because it was a late decision to have a Miss O'Schumunce-ler somewhere. I chose her to be the one picking up the pencil in the end, since she's pretty good with a pencil in the movie hehe. You guys can pretend the arms holding the phone is Miss Funce-ler.

-a thneed, a seed, and a (grickle grass) weed on the floor. The thneed is just the first of many that will soon create a giant pile. The seed lies forgotten in the corner. The weed is foreshadowing the future.

-hinting that Lorax and Once-ler were actually good friends, like they were in the Lorax musical stageplay. 🥺 I kept this part of the script in my mind for this piece:

This was aftermath Once-ler talking to the Lorax, reminiscing on their good times...and also being stupid and inconsiderate because the Lorax was in fact there all along as his friend, trying to warn him of what was going to happen. 😔

So in my zine piece we're witnessing a peaceful time before all the real biggering really starts. I like to think that in this scene, the Lorax had been sitting on the Once-ler's lap, holding his gloves for him and having a nice chat together with maybe some harmless bickering, but then the Once-ler gets a phone call so he cuts their convo short and rolls his chair over to the window to answer it. What else...the parts that I'm proud of the most are the stool (I spent 2 days just drawing this stool), the curtains, the fact that I was able to include every truffula colour, and the Once-ler's pose. I was close to giving up on that pose because I had no idea how to draw it but I'm glad that I tried again. I wanted to show him at ease during a stage in his life that we never got to see much: the happier and more innocent days of his biggering when he only had a small shop. 😊

summary: Suddenly, Max isn't annoyed about being featured in a music video.

Max couldn't stop staring at himself in the mirror of a tent full of outfits, cameras and people moving from one place to another. In his mind he already did enough promo for the team, more than enough after being crowned World Champion for the third time and a huge contributor to the comfortable win of the Constructors Championship as well.

Maybe appearing in a music video was where he draw the line?

He wouldn't have an issue if it was him on his fireproofs doing a couple of laps in some closed circuits, maybe even some hot laps, but having to pose next to his RB19, wearing a faux leather jacket and showing one of his TAG Heuer Monaco Titan, because he was a walking billboard, was a little too much on his books, especially as a make up artist mixed different shades of some foundation, and Max was trying really hard not to take offense after he told him "his dark circles were incredibly hard to conceal".

Here he was doing favors and in return was being offended by his lack of sleep and naturally pale complexion.

He almost laughed after noticing Checo staring at himself in the mirror, the same confused and uncomfortable look on his face, and the same tight jacket as they contemplated the marina from above.

In conclusion, yes, this was well above his paycheck. Max also wouldn't deny he didn't thrill on the presence of paparazzi in quiet Monaco. granted, they were looking for the big star who was doing some shots around the city, walking hand in hand with his model girlfriend, but he could still make out some yelling for him and Checo.

Then, his day took a turn.

Some crew members wearing headphones and what he assumed were the assistants approached him and Checo, telling them this wouldn't take long since all they had to do was walk around the car, get in and out of the car, with and without the helmet, all while blasting the song.

A very catchy and good song that mentioned he was the first one to cross the finish line. At least he couldn't complain about that.

But he was internally complaining when, once again, he found himself on the make up chair with the same make up artist who had a problem with his dark circles, but this time the place was much different.

A sharp suit and this time a heavy Patek Philippe on his wrist as he walked inside the Casino of Monte Carlo. Now he was greeted by Bad Bunny himself, who thanked him many many times for being a part of this, and in return Max thanked him for even thinking of him for his song. They fell into a comfortable conversations about cars when the singer motioned for two girls to come over, one Max recognized as Kendall Jenner, the other he didn't know but was eager to.

"Max, this is mi novia, Kendall, and this is her friend (y/n). They're doing some stuff on the background, don't they look incredible?"

Max swore the designer dress you were wearing was painted on you, because there was no way it could fit so perfectly on your body, with a couple of stray hairs adorning your face and long eyelashes accentuating your eyes.

"It's so nice to meet you, I'm such a big fan of motorsport," you stretched your hand and it caught Max off guard, not really knowing what to do.

So he panicked and gave you a weird handshake before lifting your hand to his lips and leaving a kiss, and he had never felt more like a creep, but he noticed you blushing and a giggle leaving your lips.

You wanted to add something when the crew called everyone to start shooting, Benito and Kendall leading the way, and the only thing Max thought of doing was to offer you his arm which you gladly accepted.

The song was blasting as everyone pretended to talk and surround the roulette, but you and Max weren't pretending to laugh or to talk.

He even left Checo by himself, he'd forgive him eventually.

"I'm pretty sure the camera is on us in this moment," you told him through gritted teeth, trying to keep a perfect smile.

"What should we do?" Max asked, trying to hide his smile while doing his best to give you his best seductive stare.

You knew he was flirting with you and it was surprising. After seeing him on screens and social media you figured he'd be cocky, not having any trouble flirting with women every weekend on different countries, figuring out a way with foreign languages, but you never pictured him as a giddy, easily flushed, good for banter man, and the only thing you wanted was to leave this shoot and have him show you the city, dressed to the nines and maybe pretending to be cold in the end so he could put his jacket over your shoulders, and that way you could see him with just a white shirt and undone tie.

But you were getting a bit ahead of yourself, especially when you heard the director yell cut and tell you and Max to pay attention to the instructions, earning you the glare of everyone in the room.

"Ey, cabrón, que se están enamorando, déjalos solos!" Hey, they're falling in love, leave them alone. Those were Benito's words.

And God, was he right.

"c’mon, please!!" you exclaimed, your voice full of desperation as you stood at the edge of the bed, pulling on chris's arm in an attempt to get him to stand. your other hand clutched your phone tightly, the screen still glowing with the video you had just watched—a trend set to the song "disco" by surf curse. you had seen so many couples doing it, and you could already imagine the two of you pulling it off just as well.

chris, still lying comfortably in bed, let out a long, exaggerated sigh. "i told you no," he muttered, his tone carrying a hint of mock annoyance as he rolled his eyes, though the corners of his mouth betrayed him with a slight upward curve. he always tried to act disinterested, but you knew better. his smile gave him away every time.

undeterred, you pouted dramatically, your lower lip jutting out as you dropped onto the bed beside him. without giving him a chance to protest further, you began to pepper his face with soft, playful kisses. "please," you whispered after every kiss, your voice soft and pleading. you could feel him starting to crack, his resolve weakening with each affectionate peck.

chris finally let out a small chuckle, his expression softening as he looked at you. "alright, fine," he relented. how could he say no to you? you bounced up from the bed, your excitement barely contained as you pulled him up to join you. once he was on his feet, you eagerly held up your phone, showing him the video that had you so captivated. "it's easy," you insisted. "it’s nothin’, really." as you began to explain the simple steps, chris watched while shaking his head slightly at how something so small could make you so happy. but that was part of what he loved about you—your ability to find joy in the little things.

after practicing a few times, you carefully placed the phone on top of a furniture, adjusting it just right so that the camera had a clear view of the two of you. the excitement was bubbling inside you as you set the timer for 3 seconds, giving you just enough time to get into position. “ ‘kay, ready?” you asked, turning your head to glance at chris, who nodded, the corners of his mouth twitching into a smile.

with a quick tap on the screen, you started the timer and hurried into place in front of him. as the music began, you glanced up at him, a small giggle escaping your lips. you gave him a supportive nod, and the two of you started the first moves of the dance, raising your arms in sync with the beat. the rhythm flowed naturally as you both moved your shoulders, your chest leaning forward while his leaned back, your eyes never leaving his. “like this?” he whispered midway through the video. you nodded, a reassuring smile on your face, and continued into the second part, moving in the opposite direction, both of you chuckling softly.

as soon as the video ended, you grabbed the phone, eager to watch the result. “it turned out amazing! see, told you it was easy,” you commented, your voice full of excitement. chris smiled and wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, pulling you close. “perfect. now—” he began, but before he could finish, he pulled you both down onto the bed, drawing a burst of laughter from you as he tickled you and covered your face with kisses. the sound of your laughter mixed with the music still playing from the phone, the video you’d just made echoing in the background as the two of you tumbled together, caught up in the moment.

! `'what I think mha boys would be like together'` !

Just some of my headcanons of what I think some mha boys would be like in a relationship with reader :3 (might do a girl vers of this) or a part 2 of this one

contains: Izuku x reader, Katsuki x reader, Kirishima x reader, Denki x reader, fluff

Izuku :

Izuku is definitely the one to compliment/ praise you over everything, oh you styled your hair different than usual? “You look so pretty/handsome” or you finally finished that book/game/drawing you’ve been trying to complete “that’s amazing Y/N!”. Mostly uses your first name but he does have some nicknames for you; mostly being shortened versions of your first name along with “My star, lovey, babe”, is anxious to make first moves on anything but if you initiate something (holding hands, a kiss, etc.) he’ll join in when you initiate it; though when he does get the confidence to initiate something it’s mostly holding hands or snaking his arm around your waist lightly grazing your hip. Loves giving you little head kisses, cheek kisses! Makes you little paper dolls of you two for special occasions <3

Katsuki :

He’d definitely not change much when he’s dating you, maybe more softer towards you than the others but other than that Katsuki is still the same ol’ Katsuki. Gets you gifts on special occasions (he knows exactly what you like and dislike cause he’s been sneakily analysing you so he could use it to an advantage) , helps you with choosing outfits, hairstyles etc. tries to sound less harsh when giving you advice but it can be sarcastic at times, only refers to you with your first name with the slight nicknames on cards or gifts but never from his lips, ruffles your hair and plays about with your hair (pleatting it, twirling it around his finger) doesn’t wait for you to initiate anything- will initiate holding hands, kisses, cuddles first, Katsuki will boast about you, he’ll just bring you up in every conversation like “My Y/N done that too though better than you” , “Yeah Y/N knows that too, they knew way before you did extra!” Isn’t one for showing PDA but shows a lot of affection privately in his words “It’s better being just the two of us than a crowd of extras” will not admit but he loves it when he lays on your lap and you play with his hair <3

Kirishima :

Kirishima would defo’s would be glued to your side helping you with anything, holding your hand and somewhat having his hand on you (shoulders, head, waist, nothing too intimate) asks you to join him when he’s working out, sometimes will ask you to even join in, non stop compliments- compliments are literally spilling from his lips he’s just so loving of you he can’t help not to tell you how beautiful/handsome you are. Matching clothes. He would love to wear those matching shirts that have the arrows pointing to left/right saying things like ‘I’m hers/his’ even if your not into that kinda stuff he’d even do things like matching pfp on socials! Kirishima would definitely listen to music with you, even if you both share different taste in music he wouldn’t care as long as he gets to do something with you and learn more about you he’d love it <3

Denki :

I feel if anything he’d just get more funnier when he’s around you, he wants to hear your laugh whenever he does something stupid, loves to play video games with you (if you like them ofc) if not he just likes to have you around him whenever he does play games, will say silly lines like “what’s cooking good looking” and other lines, loves to play with your hair, hold your hand and trace over your bones and veins, Loves to lay on your lap whenever you guys hang out at one another’s dorms. Will ask for your help with anything especially if it’s for tests, loves to talk to you about everything, literally everything there’s times he’ll ask questions that really make you think where it takes you weeks to finally answer and he’s sadly forgotten his question.

As usual: my site has an RSS feed with basically everything I’ve done back to 2020, so this will mainly be going over the same stuff from that.

I didn't do much public in the first three months of the year; I was playing a lot of games (and continued to throughout the year) and planning out a particular game project which has somewhat fallen to the wayside as of late. But guys. It's gonna be so good if I can actually make it.

In April, Kenshi Yonezu released Bye Now, See You Someday! (interview, interview, tangential interview). Then in May, it was Every Day (interview, interview, interview, interview, interview).

Then there was the lead-up to and release of LOST CORNER in August, with RED OUT (flashing lights warning), Junk, and the rest. (Interview, interview, interview.) And about a month later, the madman went and released the new Donut Hole music video.

Around this time, social media conditions spurred me to create an art gallery page on my site, to both archive notable pieces from over the years and post new ones. Truthfully, I've been doing periodic drawings just for fun for about 2 years now, just… not posting them here. I also haven't felt like I should include every new drawing in the RSS feed (partly because it feels bothersome, partly to minimize the effort of the posting process), so you'd have to check manually to keep up with it. But if you're interested, there you go. (P.S. It's called a gallery because it's fulla gals.)

In October, I posted my translation of Sugaru Miaki's first new novel in 6 years, The Town of Sakura. It's hard for it to compete with some of his past works, but it's pretty good, yeah. (And you thought there is never an interview online? Think again.)

Finally, in November, one more Kenshi Yonezu song: Azalea (interview). And of course, as per IZ's new rule, I had a fairly leisurely month to work on Wilardo's conclusion of Witch's Heart.

Nankidai did not finish Your Turn To Die this year on account of raising a baby. He recently moved residences "as part of a plan to go bankrupt if I don't finish next year." He'll… be okay, I hope.

I can't say I'm definitely going to focus on either my own games or free game translations next year, as I'm going to be busy with a certain other project for most of January or so. (I also worked on a couple paid translation projects this year that should come out sometime.) But I would still like to do those things as much as ever, of course. You and I both will just have to wonder when.

Hongjoong: relieved, lighting up “Really? That means everything. So, should we add lyrics together? Korean and... maybe a bit of Patois?”

This collaboration becomes something you both do regularly, and soon, he surprises you with a track dedicated to the beauty of Caribbean culture and his love for it.

Seonghwa is the type to become a true student of your culture, eagerly asking you to teach him your language and food traditions. His first big step? Definitely mastering a family recipe. He watches you intently as you walk him through the steps of making jerk chicken or curry goat, jotting down notes and even taking videos to get it right.

Later, he surprises you with a full Caribbean-inspired dinner, complete with homemade roti.

Seonghwa: nervously, serving you “I... I did my best. I hope it tastes just right.”

You take a bite and nod with approval, savoring the flavors.

You: smiling “Seonghwa, it’s perfect. You really got it down!”

His face breaks into a wide smile, and it warms your heart that he cherishes these parts of your life.

Yunho loves the excitement of Caribbean festivals, especially Carnival. When he finds out you’re planning to attend this year, he’s beyond thrilled and insists on joining. He goes all out, even asking for costume tips and trying to get the dance moves just right.

On Carnival day, he’s like a kid in a candy store, soaking up the colors, music, and energy. You notice how he draws people in with his infectious laughter, becoming the life of the parade.

Yunho:  “This is incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it!”

Later, you sneak away for a moment on the sidelines, catching your breath as he pulls you close, his eyes sparkling with pure joy.

Yunho:  “Thank you for sharing this with me. Can we do it again next year?”

Yeosang’s quiet curiosity leads him to ask about Caribbean folklore. Under the moonlight, you start by telling him the tale of Anansi the Spider. His eyes widen, utterly enchanted by the characters and stories.

Yeosang: smiling “And he really tricked the tiger? I love how clever he is.”

When he finds out some of these stories were told to you by your grandparents, he’s even more drawn in. On lazy weekend evenings, it becomes a routine for you both to share stories, and he insists on a new one each time, sometimes even adding his own twist.

Yeosang: grinning mischievously “What if Anansi had a little help this time?”

You laugh at his imaginative additions, feeling the magic of the tales all over again.

San is immediately drawn to your family’s warmth and community spirit. During your family’s big cookout, he jumps right in, chatting with everyone, from your younger cousins to your grandparents.  He’s fascinated by the different flavors and insists on helping out in the kitchen, peppering your relatives with questions about recipes and traditions.

San: enthusiastically, to your grandma “Can you teach me how to make this? I want to learn everything.”

Your grandmother takes a special liking to him, calling him her “honorary grandson.” Later, as everyone gathers for music and dancing, San joins in effortlessly, even trying out new moves.

San: whispering to you later “This is one of the happiest days of my life. I’ve never felt so at home.”

Mingi’s excitement is contagious as you both head to the beach for some snorkeling. He’s insistent on diving right in, and his face lights up at the coral reefs and colorful fish beneath the water, even though he fumbles a bit with the snorkeling gear, he’s quick to laugh at himself.

Mingi: coming up from the water, laughing “Did you see that fish? It looked straight at me!”

Afterward, as you both relax on the shore, he chats non-stop about the experience, already planning the next adventure.

Mingi: smiling, eyes bright “What’s next? Paddleboarding? Steel drum dancing?”

His energy makes every outing feel like a new adventure.

When Wooyoung joins you for a family event, he’s instantly in his element, charming everyone. Your aunties can’t stop laughing at his jokes, and he has your cousins teaching him local dances. As the evening goes on, he’s fully immersed in the festivities, asking everyone about their favorite memories and foods, making each person feel seen and valued.

Wooyoung: dancing with you, laughing “Am I doing it right? Just don’t let me embarrass myself!”

The night ends with everyone declaring him an honorary family member, and he whispers to you as you both leave.

Wooyoung: gratefully “I’ve never felt this welcomed. I love your family already.”

Unlike the bustling gatherings, Jongho’s favorite moments are the quiet ones spent exploring secluded beaches. One evening, he brings a picnic, and you watch the waves together, taking in the night air. He’s amazed by the serene beauty of the ocean at night, and it inspires him to open up to you in ways he usually doesn’t.

Jongho: softly, staring at the ocean “I’ve never felt this kind of peace before. It’s like the ocean is holding everything we’ve been through.”

You: nodding “This is where I feel closest to home.”

He squeezes your hand, grateful to share these peaceful moments with you, bonding over the beauty and simplicity of your island home.

I’m so happy this is finally finished! It took awhile to finish but i’m so happy!!

This is just a fanart of a headcanon i have of MC in a transformers fanfic i read in quotev where in the future she becomes a rebel against the senator council and goes threw out Cybertron graffitiing peace protests against the government and puts up hologram posters of facts and the lies that the council puts up to propagandize Cybertron’s population.

Honestly the hardest part on MC’s design is the shoulder and legs wheels cause i’ve never drawn transformers so i was racking my head on how to draw them. And also is it just me but why are transformers helms so hard to draw?!! Like i know it’s a helmet but just kept feeling like i just made them bald. But it’s so much fun trying to draw something that i’ve never tried before and so glad that there’s a concept art for the MC of the story in chapter 18 cause if there aren’t any i’m an absolute goner to draw this!!! And I mostly drew this in the Transformers animated style cause primus save me it would have took me ages of life to draw this in like prime or IDW style (to those who can transformers in that style, i bow to your superior skills cause most people would think that drawing detailed blocks are easy but PITS NOPE!!!)

And i gave little reference on the paint that’s inside the paint spray gun where the colors i referenced to the cover of the fanfic (and i also made MC holding a car spray gun to do her graffiti cause i kind of thought that no one in Cybertron have graffitied yet so for MC to do it in Cybertron like back in her life as a human she uses spray guns that are used to paint cars/alt modes in transformers. And if someone ask on why the spray gun is attached to a hose on MC’s bag thing, the black part of that bag is to storage paints so like the bags used by graffiti artists that i found and the red bottom part of the bag is an air compressor thing like it’s used in car spray gun but in a more portable size. And honestly not sure if i should call it bag cause, atleast in my headcanon on how MC made her handicraft bag, technically it’s just a metal box that MC found that she attaches a cut hose for the sling and maybe and old used air compressor she fixed cause if I remember correctly bags aren’t a thing in Transformers so i tried to incorporate that). And in the background is actually those colored beats like in videos where each music beats the video shows it as a reference to MC’s love of music (and the blue pink colors are not only referring to MC’s optics but also cause in the fanfic she has the power to open a portal to the void/shadow realm so i was referencing that). And the white lines on the edges of the drawing is a referencing to MC hacking and putting up hologram posters cause i thought that if MC is going to get the truth from the government she will need to be able to hack computer systems and such to get them. And it’s just a tiny detail but the curves inside of Nebula as she swirls behind MC where it’s sharp is a reference that she looks like flowing flames but I didn’t want it to be too obvious so i just decided to make her a flowing blob (cause i thought that that’s what she looks like in the solid world if MC isn’t in the void) shadow with slight sharp angles like how stylized fires look like. Also can someone tell me if there’s a device in Transformers to make hologram posters? Cause I wasn’t sure what it would look like so just made it look like a flat disc in MC’s right servo. And just a headcanon as well, MC’s will absolutely splatter herself with colorful paints as not only as protest against the government that tries to make her to convert to their ideals but also just as a fun self expression where while MC is covered it messy paints it’s also made her beautiful with her confidence on not being afraid to stand out and be different (tho i have a feeling that if Knockout saw her like that he’ll have a spark attack) kind of like a transformer’s version of tattoos and such. The feathers on MC’s helm i intentionally put rainbow colors on them cause i kind of thought that the feathers are holographic so every time MC moves her feathers reflects and changes color. And the reason why i made MC and Nebula surrounded with so many colors is sorta kind like a representation how went from just living by under the rules of Cybertron to taking charge in trying to help Cybertron by doing things that’s different by the standards there and giving color to the lives around her. And i made Nebula with wings as a little nod on her connection with Unicron and i just made her sparkly cause i thought it’ll be pretty hehe~ along with the mismatched mascaras that MC uses cause i just thought it adds abit of that rebellious allure especially since the colors that are used are the shade of the other optic’s color!

HEY YOUR DRACULA ANIMATIC IS SO SO GOOD I can't comment on youtube (bc I have no account) but I've watched it like 10 times now, the song fits so well and the art is incredible, I love all your character designs and the way you portray all the scenes is so spot on!

I just finished re: dracula and idk how you managed to tell the whole story so well in under 4 minutes but it was amazing I love the way you use color in the animatic, the use of mostly black/white/grey is so good for evoking the specific type of horror story this is, and it makes the red in the blood and in dracula's eyes stick out in a way that is absolutely brilliant and that last shot with the sunset is GORGEOUS and then the epilogue!!! I love that you did the epilogue to and having the gentle piano music and doing it in full color gives it such a peaceful and comforting feeling, the drawing of quincey and lucy in it in the afterlife together is so sweet <3 the detail that went into this is amazing, like the captain of the demeter having the rosary even though we only see it for a second, I keep wanting to pause on every single frame so I can properly admire all the cool art lol, also the things like jonathan's beard growing out after dracula breaks the mirror, and the rosary hanging above his bed, and dracula still having the scar from the shovel in the final showdown

AND THE PART WHERE DRACULA CATCHES THE LETTER... literally the way you tell the whole story with (almost) NO WORDS in not even 4 minutes and the whole thing flows so smoothly is incredible I love the way you do like the zoom out thing on some places, it adds a whole new dimension to it visually also the way you draw mina and jonathan after the october 3rd bit is lovely, your jonathan looks so cool with the white hair and i love how you did mina's scar, and the part where her scar disappears at the end was such a cool way to depict that and the difference between human lucy and vampire lucy is done so well, like it's so clearly the same character but you can really see how she's not herself anymore, and the way you used that when they kill vampire lucy and show arthur's resolve to use the stake bc he's now seeing her as a monster who replaced and essentially killed the woman he loved and he wants revenge, literally I will never be over how much story and emotion you managed to fit into a single music video and the way you did quincey's death? crying at that part tbh.

AND THE FRAME OF DRACULA GETTING BEHEADED WITH THE RED BACKGROUND.... IS JUST *chef's kiss* I was going to say I have no words for how much I love this but clearly I have quite a lot of words lol, thank you tumblr for not having a character limit anyway have a good day/night :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed the character design!! It's not my strong suit at all so that's reassuring. The colour scheme lowkey started out as a timesaving measure, but it also allowed for me to render scenes with detail that I otherwise couldn't've with the tight time frame I had, since at the time I was also juggling university assignments. I'm glad the sunset scene hit as hard as it did, since I had also just discovered Disco Elys/ium, so it was an attempt to emulate Rostov's illustration of Harry on Filippe III's statue). It worked out in the end anyways, since the grayscale + red accent combined with a colourful epilogue gave a "the horror is now in the past, and we are in a (literally visually) livelier future)" <3

I've seen so many people say they want to pause on each frame to examine it in detail, and guess what, you can get a zip file of them all as watermarkless pngs in my kofi! For free! It's pay-what-you-want since I just really wanted to get as many eyes on this as possible, but any tips would definitely still be appreciated.

It was fun mapping out the match cuts and transitions e.g Dracula catching the letter, Mina and Dracula with Lucy in the churchyard, since the previous semester I'd taken a storyboarding class that taught that, so I HAD to include it. Zoom outs helped add visual interest to otherwise still shots, so I'm glad they didn't come off as overdone haha.

It was tough mapping out what storybeats to include, but I'm super happy that the angst for all the key moments in the video hit right :D Was worried about losing momentum after leaving the Jonathan in Dracula's castle bit, and so I really wanted the ending of each verse(?) to correspond with a red screen injury— notice that "you'd better let yourself off and, while you still have strength in your legs, escape from this horrible hell/你最好放过自己 趁双脚还有力气, 快逃��这可怕地狱" always ends with some character harming another, and when the verse repeats again but with the ending lyrics changed "you’d better let yourself off, rather than crying out to another, “Save me!”... Save me!/你最好放过自己 胜过跟谁叫救命... 救命!", it still ends with Van Helsing staking the 3 vampire women. And of course, the ending "escape from this horrible hell/快逃出这可怕地狱" ends with the sunset, its red now replacing that of the blood the characters had to spill previously, signalling an end to their necessary monstrosity (and also a literal monster with Dracula dying).

Like with the frame of Dracula getting beheaded, the timesaving measures, limited skills (plus lack of any sort of storyboarding software, I was just ""animating"" the movements with Shotcut) forced me to find creative workarounds. I could fill at least 3 pages with writing dissecting all my choices lol but idt therell be much interest in me analysing my own art. Thank you so much for watching my animatic :)

Hey star! I really want to get into writing, but ive never been the best at it. Do you have any tips?

hi anon! good question! ^^

since i’ve started writing, i realized that it’s a skill similar to drawing, so you have to stay consistent if you want to see improvement. if you want to improve, i recommend writing as often as you can, even if it takes you out of your comfort zone or you’re not super happy or impressed with the result. also, just like drawing, it can be really hard to write without research and references! don’t be afraid to stop and reference online sources or your books for inspiration.

here’s my method/some extra tips for writing and editing!

1 ☆ have a general plan of how you want your story to go. i make a bullet point list of every event and/or dialogue i’d like to include. this makes it easier to stay on track and keep writing when i get stuck on a certain part.

2 ☆ when i write i like to listen to ambience music that matches the scenario, so for horror i’ll listen to suspenseful music and sad scenes i’ll listen to sad music. if i write for mcd i’ll even listen to medieval ambience videos lol (if you want some recommendations lmk!)

3 ☆ dont worry too much about it being perfect as you write. a rough draft is a rough draft for a reason. still, sometimes when i’m finished with a paragraph i read it over, and reference to synonyms and replacement words from google or pinterest to do a quick edit. (i also have a pinterest board of references i use, so if you’re interested in that, lmk as well)

4 ☆ if you’re having trouble or you’re stuck on how to construct a sentence, take a break and reference how an author you like writes. if you can, taking a few laps around your room/house while imagining how you want to continue helps a lot.

5 ☆ after you’re done, take a few moments to look away from your work, watch a video or episode and then come back to it with fresh eyes. if you have a friend, ask them to read over your work and suggest edits if they want. reference back to replacement words once again, and add extra details if the story seems to have moved too quickly. sometimes i repeat myself over and over in the same sentence, and i have to completely reconstructed a paragraph hahahha

i believe in you!! good writing takes work, but i believe everyone can be a writer, and everyone can be an artist. keep at it, and if you need support or more advice feel free to dm me! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و

Happy 2025! [RainSpice Studios plans & updates for the new year]

Hey everyone! Happy 2025 from RainSpice Studios. I hope this year will be kind to everyone and that many good things will be coming your way.

And speaking of good things, I'm cooking some projects that are just itching to be released and available for download. But before we get into that, let us talk a little about the games that were released in 2024.

This won't be a lengthy recap of 2024, as the games speak for themselves, but I am still proud of myself for releasing a full game, a chapter one, and a demo, during a very stressful year both in terms of world events and my personal life (I graduated college, I'm moving, all of that good stuff).

Stardust★Arcadis was my first ever release, and a game I struggled to finish. I lost all of my progress because of PC issues, I rewrote the story a few times, and I released it after working on it since 2019 (2022 if the moment when my PC broke doesn't count). However I love the characters, I love the setting, and despite the many hardships of game development, I had a fun time working on it.

I'm planning to release more games in this universe in the future, including a remastered version of St★Ar.

The Code of Crystals started as a novel collaboration with my best friend. Said collaboration never got finished, and I had a lot of inspiration for stories I could tell with these characters, most of these darker than the original project. Thus I used the characters I made for this former collaboration and started crafting this narrative, and the release of Stardust★Arcadis AND the 2024 edition of Phantasia Jam was a perfect opportunity to get started!

Chapter one will be re-release this January and Chapter two will be released in either late 2025 or early 2026. Stay tuned for more info!

Enter the Eternity, oddly enough, also started as a collaboration, but the idea of a dating simulator with magical girls was too good to let it collect dust and never get finished, especially since its inspiration board kept drawing me in.

With my best friend's blessing, I could re-use the idea, so I created a new cast of characters and got to work, and had to do even more work after I found out that the backgrounds I bought from someone on itch.io were made with an AI image generator, which disgusted me so much it powered me to redraw every single background by hand and I will keep doing so for the entire game. While it is more work to do on my part, RainSpice Studios will never endorse AI generation in any shape or form.

At first I worked on it while I worked on Stardust★Arcadis, which explains why the demo was done on such a short notice, but it has now became my primary project for 2025 and I am aiming to release it around November/December at best.

What's the plan for 2025 then?

My primary goal is to release Enter the Eternity and my secondary goal is to release The Code of Crystals chapter 2.

I aim to finish all first dates for Enter the Eternity AND re-release chapter 1 of The Code of Crystals in January. The dates are already written and coded in the script files, so my focus is to add in all the sprite expressions, draw CGs and backgrounds, and add all the necessary music. As for TCOC, I wanted to remake its menus and add a scene with Eranis that I did not have time to add before the end of the game jam. While the UI code I bought doesn't work, its images are pretty, and I am happy with the result.

2025 will be another busy year for me as I try to find a full-time job to sustain myself, launch some new projects more-or-less related to video games, move out again, among some other irl things. But here at RainSpice Studios, I love making games, and will keep making them for the foreseeable future.

So... long time no see?

I know people won't really be interested in this, but I really want to talk a little about the reasons, that made me "quit" art.

2023 wasn't really a great year and neither was 2024. Personal life gets very stressful and things happen that take away the motivation to do things you once loved so much.

2024 should also be a year for personal celebrations. 2024, my 10th anniversary with One Piece. That’s wild… I had so many ideas, wanted to make some nice drawings… but life had other plans.

I thought about a lot of things this year. Not just about the things that happened to me personal or the cruel things that happen in the world. I also questioned myself a lot. Both. My private self and the one I present to the outside world.

For me, 2024 was also a year full of new things and firsts.

I went to my first concert, traveled to a faraway city with a new and very important friend to go to the theater - twice - and I decided to move out of this house. (still in progress)

I've found interest in drawing more than just One Piece - more than manga/anime.

I don't know if that even matters, but I'm not really a manga/anime fan anymore. It's not something I decided to do, it just happened that I lost interest. One Piece were the only exception. But sadly, 2024 wasn’t our year...

Don't get me wrong, I'll never completely lose interest in One Piece - it's such a big part of me, but I've learned that sometimes you have to take a step back in order to not lose the things you love. Just because I'm no longer head over heels doesn't mean I've lost my interest for the fandom. Quite the opposite. If anything, it helps me not to lose that love. That was something I had to learn.

2024 was also a year in which old interests paved the way for something new. Something that is now very important for me and my mental health.

I first became interested in BL K-drama in fall 2023. I started cringe-watching some series until I finally came across some good ones. Something like “To my star”, “Semantic error”, “the eighth sense” and “a shoulder to cry on”.

“A shoulder to cry on” - or ASTCO for short - wasn't really that big of a deal for me personal. But there was something about it that appealed to me. I really liked the title track and there was also something special about the two main characters. Something about them stuck to me. So, I looked them up. I learned that they were both from the same band. The Band, who also participate in the titel song.

At the time, I never really liked KPop. I tried it several times, but the music never suited my taste. And it was the same this time. I searched for the band on YouTube and listened to their last two songs. It wasn't my thing. I turned it off. That was that.

I finished watching the series and then a few more until this hobby also took a back seat for almost a year.

Summer 2024, not a very good time to remember. Stress was eating me up, my mental health was at another low and my body was in poor condition. As I was scrolling through social media, I stumbled across something that reminded me of an old interest. I think the video I saw was an edit about the series “Jazz for two”. Another BL K-drama.

I had nothing else to do anyway, so I started watching the show. And it happened again. Something about it stuck in my head. But this time it wasn't the titel song or the main character, it was the blue-haired guy on the site. I don't know why, but this guy became something special to me so quickly that to this day I have absolutely no idea what happened.

And you know what? This guy was also a member of the same band as the two from ASTCO.

It took some time, and a few other shows, but in the end I gave the band another shot. This time I listened to their older stuff and really liked it. I had never heard anything like it before. To me it sounded like a mix of different genres in a very cool way.

So that's how it all started. After that, I listened to their music on such a crazy basis. I watched their stuff on youtube, learned all their names and fell in love with all 11 members. I also heard about the horrible things that happened to them, the lawsuits and that they had to take a break before coming back with new management. The same one that produced “ASTCO” and “Jazz for two”.

These guys have been incredibly inspiring and motivating for me. They gave me something back that I had lost for so long.

Life started to get better. I started exercising again, eating better and was generally in a more positive mood.

Of course I still have my ups and downs, that's normal, life isn't easy. But on the whole I'm feeling much better.

So... what does it all mean? Well, to be honest, I don't know. But I just wanted to get it off my chest.

I think I will continue to draw in the future and would like to share it sometimes. However, my focus will shift. I just want to post what I feel like posting and not just what “fits”.

Since it still feels a bit like saying goodbye, I've decided to close all my open “projects” and share them with you here. So that means a some unfinished drawings in various stages that I didn't want to just throw away.

On that note, I wish everyone a healthy new year and that we all spend 2025 doing what we love. Please stay healthy and save!^^

a snapshot in time of my CALM orchestral arrangement

so I just discovered that this is a thing you can do on tumblr and i've been debating putting it up here (i'm not even sure it's legal) but at this point, to me it's worth the (very slim) lawsuit risk to show you guys the inspo behind making this blog. for @bluewrite who i've been meaning to email this to for ages but never got there. for @tleeaves who i think got a slightly older version as did @ghost-of-you but this is also for all of you who've heard me rattling about music things, for people i've gotten into 5sos by talking about this project such as @thevagabondexpress (thank you for drawing the U2 link).

anyway, as you probably know i'm a classical violist. i know my instrument and i know a fair amount of music theory and i know how to play the keyboard/piano as well and at the start of this project i knew very little about building orchestral scores or anything about wind instruments at all. i'd written arrangements and original pieces before but only for strings-only orchestras, and though i'm alright at pulling out instrumentation from songs my experience is largely in the more classic 2000s pop/rock/worship with very minimal synth activity and max 3 part harmonies. to say this was a challenge is an understatement.

it's also not finished yet. i've gone back and forth on this getting feedback from a bunch of people, much of which i didn't understand and wasn't ready to implement. i've also found ashton and calum's videos explaining these songs in more detail and the acoustic version of teeth and best years with the actual chords of the songs and now, differently to the week tfofu came out but similar, i'm on it again, noticing things. noticing musical trends. most of this was done by pure sound intuition and a handful of piano scores arranged by @/keudae on youtube i bought and played to get a feel of the songs. I feel really stoked to have picked up on the whole lover of mine setting us up for lonely heart and being a bit like ghost of you and some of the themes within the album!

but there is a lot i didn't pick up on. especially in the last movement i don't truly feel like i did any of those songs justice. nor lonely heart. and there is a stark difference between the quality of the songs that were played at the RAH and the ones that i only had a studio version to work off (my strings background comes out here). i've also looked at all the 22 individual parts and realised, hey, i want to be in the 5sos spirit and make every single one of these fun to play and right now the only one that is is the cello which carries luke's main melody line but it's also kinda working too hard.

and that's the thing i know, probably apart from that one keychange into lonely heart from ghost of you, this for the most part sounds good and i want to share it here before i rejig it too much, make it too much more orchestral, so we can remember it and see it evolve. because i have a bunch of juno and guitar and percussion and harmony parts i haven't put in. general song vibes. shake up the choruses and make them a variation on themselves each time. maintain the atmosphere it's got but add more layers to it, be more true to the original songs. make something i would be proud to show 5sos if the opportunity ever arose, something that would actually astonish them and I think I can. because their musicality in this album is astounding, and something i haven't seen in heaps of other artists, and i want to recognise that and draw it out in something that can do it justice like an orchestra.

In the official video Rin and Len have their default outfits so i decided to make my own desins for this, I'm actually really happy with these minus the chalky color of the hair.

I tried to give them a cozy feel because thats the emotions the song gives yknow and i think i pulled that off, the color scheme is also reddish brown because the song is about a coffee shop so i think that is a cool detail. I tend to avoid color schemes like these but I think i managed to make it work. Also I was cookin with Rins hair its so nice, I allways like messing around with the Vocaloids designs when I do this sorta thing I think the curls and making it slightly longer really work with this song. I've never made a len desin for anything so his is more meh lol.

this was for the "eiga mite mo ii ne, karaoke demo ii ne, aiteru ka mite miyou ka" part, rin was gunna do a little bounce and len would pop up when his line happens. The mv mostly would be in my normal style rather than this chibi one I think i also planned to use chibis for the part about rain idk

Like I said already, I graduated high school this year. So naturally, because I'm somehow both lazy and busy at the same time, I don't draw anything for the occasion like I wanted to until the literal DAY before I start college. (Yeah, I'm not joking- my first day of college is tomorrow.)

Just because I've come this far since I joined Wattpad as a 7th grader doesn't mean I know how I did it. Oh, wait- yes I do. I do know. I guess I don't know my own brain. Anyway, it's because I had, and still do, a burning desire to reach out to you and tell you about all the silly little stuff I had on my mind. I also wanted to get to know people all around the cyber world who liked the same stuff I liked. (I hope I can find someone who does in my art college.) I wanted y'all to know that Unikitty and Minecraft: Story Mode were (and still are) my two most favorite things ever. For months, I begged my parents for it, and I eventually got it for Christmas. Over the years, I've come to like more shows, games and movies. I even realized that I liked doing musical theater, too. Since I joined Wattpad, I've expanded my posting to DeviantArt, this site, YouTube, and more.  I've probably told you all of this many times before, but I say it for a reason.

As I also said already, high school was as fun of an experience as it was... interesting. I couldn't finish my freshman year, and I missed my entire sophomore year, and if you survived 2020, you probably know why. I still passed, though. I think that junior and senior year made up for that. I was in the school musical both of those years, I got to attend my first prom junior year, and I went to Thespian Fest senior year.

Maybe the real high school experience was the friends we made along the way, as I've joked. But I wanted to surround myself with people I could get together with. As SpongeBob said, "I only want to hang out with my friends." And I did, 'cause we made every day the best day ever, especially the night we graduated. (The trampoline park we went to afterwards had some killer chicken tenders!) I took one of my friends to see Elemental before she went out of state for her college. I still keep in touch with a lot of them. Still, I'm really gonna miss everyone, and I wish them luck in their future endeavors.

As soon as school let out, my family took me on a trip to celebrate the fact that I graduated, and I made a video about it. You can watch it on my channel if you'd like.

But, I digress! There are a bunch of people here who I've just gotta show my gratitude for. You guys are part of why I keep going in life.

buuuuuuut they also all have at least one pick that's wildly different that i kind of think as the standout/signature song. i wanted to represent that theyre all Of the same guy (jaceprime) but theyre different facets of him: devotion, hedonism, rage. also because i'm insane they do have an order to them and there's an arc within each one

theyre love songs!! ringtone, too, that's the one i think of as j2s signature song, since it's in a wildly different genre. ringtone is also where the playlist kind starts to get an inkling of despair and tragedy, too

spellbound + heaven, iowa + closer kind of make up a weird trilogy in my head of "j2's thoughts when he and porter are alone together" since it's like, feeling an inexorable pull towards him, feeling so so so weak for him, and of course: religious devotion mixed with intense horniness.

i feel the need to justify the "closer" pick for j2 and not j3, i did go back and forth on it but honestly it's like... j3 doesnt worship the same way j2 does. j2's the acolyte, not the whore. thats also why tourniquet, shame, and all again for you are on here.

lastly for j2: drowning lessons is the unofficial j2porter vegas wedding song to me. the imagery of it is so evocative. look at this.

for j3 (the whore), obviously the vibe is like, getting railed within an inch of your life. but i also wanted songs that conveyed a sense of desperation + misery and self hatred. because j3 has issues and problems.

give 'em hell kid + celebrity skin + ponyboy are like. the Fuck Me trio. j3 wants you to want him, he looks good, he knows he looks good, what are you gonna do about it? he's got a half-life of his own and he's gonna spend it with the hottest people he can.

for j4 (the devil): the main thing here was like. rebellion. going against the narrative that's trying to draw her in. she's gonna escape the cycle or die trying.

i think my favorite pulls for this were playing god, losing his touch, and going under, which in my mind made up like a trio of being fed the fuck up with someone and walking out for good. there are also a couple songs on here like dead throne and IAGTKTPOTUSOA (cant type out the song name now jic the fbi is watching) where i was like... j4 would listen to these while she's mad. she deserves to have her metal and harsh noise moment.

ofc j4 is still Of Jace so i had to include i hate everything about you, whore, and noise and kisses because unfortunately he's still attracted to porter. why is whore on here but adrenalize was on j3 (the whore)'s playlist? well. whore is WAY more of a Fuck You than adrenalize.

and j4's signature song is ofc ptolemaea. no matter how hard she fights back and how close she gets to escaping, she always ends up back at porter's side. it's inevitable.

aaaaaaaaand lastly for jace's playlist (the one): i think everyone's already noticed that half of this playlist is where the titles for my fics come from but i did want to say that explicitly.

jaceprime's playlist is very much about devotion even when it hurts. giving up parts of yourself to make someone else love you. being doomed. not being understood even by the person who knows you inside and out.

its also like. sleepless nights and waking up disoriented and unsure of who you are. feeling crushed and abandoned but too proud to do anything about it. brain stew, i slept with someone in fall out boy, and broken bones are very that.

i did include drowning lessons on this one again, i think it's the only repeat i have, and i didnt want to but man it's what i listened to while i was writing jace getting strangled to death in his marital bed so i HAD to. i also think it fits because j2 and jace are funhouse mirrors of each other and it's fun to think about how they're both interpreting the lyrics in very different ways.

for jace's signature song, it's dig up her bones. he got brought back wrong in service of an evil plan! it doesnt matter what came before, who he used to be! that jace died and now this one's here to stay. it's similar to j3 on purpose, but j3's more jennifer check while jaceprime is more bride of frankenstein.

lastly, white crosses is kind of the bookend to this whole deal because of the i'll make my way back home to you chorus. that's very starbreaker to me. at the end of the day, theyre each others' homes. theyre all they have left, even if they hate it.
