GOOD EVENING. STARBREAKER!! this is so silly because I can't stop thinking about jace influencer au, but I did just get hit with a Vision of, like, a world where that AU is true but also the Plan is still happening. so as he gets pulled more into it (knowingly or unknowingly) jace's online presence/instagram/youtube channels or w/e slowwwwwly starts to devolve from poppy pretty sponsored idealized glamorized aestheticized content into a straight-up found-footage horror story.

CHRISTTTTTT.

like okay bear with me. a shift away from regular influencer au. jace is one of those teacher influencers. his normal content is like, stuff like this. it's fairly harmless, kind of corny, mildly funny. and as he gets a bigger following he starts doing more intimate/personal content. outfit of the day/day in the life, weekend vlogs (shopping spree in bastion city! massive spell component haul!), and crucially. talking about his relationship! his partner is his coworker, they met at work! they teach a party cohesion elective together and they co-advise the wild magic barbarians! it's sooooo cute, right?

and then porter starts appearing on camera and at first it seems super sweet, he's very gruff and not very camera-trained but he seems to really care for jace. but something like... changes. sometime in between jace's annual traditions of "halloween crafts week/decorate my classroom with me" videos and his "moonar yulenear break daily vlogs" people notice that like. jace seems a little more tired. more brittle. like he's always been performing but now it seems like every single smile is forced and fake.

sometime in the summer jace does a video addressing the comments and passes it off as burnout, he's had a difficult year because of the whole kalvaxus situation on top of some... personal issues. and his audience is like oh okay that explains it. but the tone keeps getting darker. jace posts fewer and fewer videos, his schedule goes from 3-4x weekly uploads to maybe one video every couple of weeks. slowly goes silent on all his other accounts. when he does make a video it's almost always with porter, and the way porter always has his arm around jace seems less "proud boyfriend" and more "possessive creep that's trying to keep jace from saying the wrong thing and exposing... something"

there's a conspiracy that it's all an ARG because of a bunch of "clues" in the background of jace's videos - including a jar of devil's honey on a kitchen counter that when pointed out leads to jace deleting the video entirely. this only adds fuel to the fire because what could he be hiding??

jace starts slipping up sometimes, letting on that porter's maybe. making him do something that he doesnt want to be doing. this is interspersed with strange, quasi-religious, creepy shit from porter during their vlogs. these are quickly deleted/edited out. but his audience is Concerned.

at some point. jace posts one last video called "Goodbye!" and it's a farewell to content creation as a whole for him. it's recorded in his classroom, porter's absent, jace seems almost like his old self again, he's smiling, and the sky behind him is bright red. if you look closely there are wisps of smoke visible. the tone and words are so fucking off, he's talking about seeing everyone in the "next life, a better life" if "everything goes as expected"

cue ragenarok, and cue reports that "aguefort sorcery teacher and influencer jace stardiamond was linked to a plot to create a new god of war"

4. If your Tav was a companion, where would they be found?

Ranala: in the grove, honestly! she's a druid herself, and if she was tadpoled and fell from the nautiloid, she'd be looking for a calm place, and a druid grove would be a welcome sight. she would be shit talking kagha and trying to get the other druids to rise up against her, though.

Havoc: hmm that depends on whether he's a tadpoled companion or not! if so, i think he'd be like lae'zel and shadowheart, and you'd meet him on the ship, punching the shit out of some imps. if he's not, you wouldn't meet him until baldur's gate itself, playing cards in a dingy bar somewhere

Juniper: she'd be harder to find! off the beaten path somewhere, either in act 1 or maybe in the forests around the creche in the mountain pass. you hear the faint sound of flute music, and can follow it to find her

8. Who are they suspicious of?

Ranala: fuckin. everyone. but especially astarion. she's the only tav i've made so far who hasn't let him bite her hahaha she does NOT trust that weirdo!!! she also doesn't trust the emperor, or raphael, or anyone who is promising an out to the tadpole problems. she'll figure this out on her own, thank you

Havoc: ooo hmm. honestly, for a self-proclaimed asshole, havoc is pretty trusting! he was absolutely not on board with ethel, though. she gave him the immediate creeps. he also doesn't like ulder at ALL, and he has a general dislike for rich people and people in positions of authority

Juniper: tragically, lae'zel, but in a specific kind of way- "suspicious" isn't exactly the word i'd use, but she's constantly afraid that lae'zel is going to leave the group behind, even after she turns against vlaakith. juniper just doesn't think she's doing a good enough job as leader, and that lae'zel will wise up and leave eventually

Ranala: the chariot

29. Does your Tav want to utilize the tadpole powers or not?

Ranala: absolutely the fuck not. she is profoundly uninterested in them, and did not use a single one.

Havoc: at first, yes, though he used fewer and fewer as things progressed! he liked the idea of more strength and more skill, and figured that if he was dealing with the tadpole anyway, he might get some use out of it. but as it became clearer what the Absolute was all about, he started to regret that decision

Juniper: she used a couple! she originally wasn't going to, but then she talked to all the companions about it, and wyll mentioned that he had some interest in them (a character choice that i laura find very interesting), and juniper, who is head over heels for wyll, took that as a sign that it was the right choice! but she was still hesitant and a little scared of it, so she didn't use many

i actually don't know if i do use a lot of layers? but i think it's a lot bc i dont like to merge my lineart and colors so a full colored piece gets around 30-50 layers? then a simple lineart is about 10-15

🐻 Your go-to things to draw when you need comfort?

sometimes you just want to draw a bunch of 3/4 angle portraits of your faves, y'know? maybe a silly little chibi of them :3

🌗 Is night or day better for drawing?

night time for sure! living in a tropical country makes it so difficult to do anything in the morning so i like to work at night when it's colder and quieter !!

i am privileged to be surrounded by ppl around whom i've been slowly. learning to unmask a little more so genuinely have been finding a lot of calm and comfort in jumping around in circles or rocking back and forth a little bit. it's great. proprioception!

2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?

Peregrine: he’s a theater kid! he wanted to be a bard soooo bad or at least multiclass a la Fabian but due to the [gestures at his neuroses around his masculinity] he never did. i think in terms of levels, he ended up a level 20 fighter until he did some paladin training as an adult that put him at like, a 17/3 split between fighter/paladin. in a kinder timeline he’d be doing community theater and taxes with jace. in blood and turpentine. well no spoilers for what im currently writing but it’s not that.   

Dagbert: out of everyone in the group hes the one thats into musicals unironically. and not even good musicals. like picture this massive goliath that’s taller than porter and just as broad, i think i have him as like 7 ft 1, and he just fucking loves Cats. he’s obsessed with fantasy andrew lloyd webber. has a jellicle-sona. 

Ysvelde: she’s somehow got even less of a solid grasp of her identity than jace does. part of it is that she’s an actress, part of it is that she’s never really lived for anything besides the approval of other people (first her mom, then her adventuring party). she has no idea who she is without the approval of others. if you put her in a room alone she’d start climbing the walls instead of sitting alone with her own thoughts. girl who is constantly experiencing The Dread but she covers it up with a winning smile + really cool artsy makeup. 

Aurora: [dan howell voice] one time she had a MESSY night out in [bastion city], kissed a GIRL, and SMOKED A CIGARETTE. no but seriously she has a secret wild side that she rarely lets out, especially as she gets more and more into fundamentalism and what she believes is sol’s true word, the very early beginnings of the harvestmen cult. during their first year adventuring, shes the one that suggested matching tramp stamps while they were all wasted. 

Invidia: she’s a romantic. she really does want her friends to find love. she’s at aurora and peregrine’s wedding as a bridesmaid, and when she realizes that jace and porter are serious about each other, she’s genuinely happy for him. underneath all the cattiness and jokes she’s so glad that everything “worked out” (woman who does not know jace is a dead man walking)

10. What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?

not to keep talking about this but my infidelity fic which is an au of blood and turpentine? i have so many dramatic scenes from it that i rotate in my head. when peregrine finds out that jace got promoted to vice principal and starts a huge fight about it. dagbert’s father’s funeral. invidia and ysvelde’s falling out. when peregrine finds out about jace’s affair and subsequently gets murdered by porter. aurora’s creepy midsommar-ass family hosting everyone for fantasy easter. 

11. What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?

Peregrine: a lance!! by the time he’s a full-time adventurer i’m sure it’s a magical weapon too, probably has like a +2 or something. hes definitely used it before love a martial class. 

Dagbert: his battle axe, absolutely has used it. he’s definitely got a magic weapon too, i think i call out in love’s never meant much to me that it has magic runes on it so yeah let’s call it the same level of magical as perry’s lance

Ysvelde: so she’s a college of eloquence bard and a fiend pact warlock, so i think she probably has a shortsword as a backup weapon but honestly that eldritch blast cantrip is getting her through most of her fights juuuust fine. 

Aurora: circle of life cleric, definitely has a crossbow that she’s used a couple times in a panic early on but she’s more a healer than anything. i picture her spiritual weapon (the cleric spell) as a scythe. 

Invidia: she’s a circle of the moon druid so i think she’d have a pair of broad claws that do some sick slashing damage, plus obviously her wild shape forms, and her animal companion (a wolf but for funsies ive flavored it as a husky named luna and she loves her so much, she treats her like a child, has little bows to put in her fur, etc. luna is fantasy instagram famous)

14. How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?

ohhhh this is sosososo juicy 

Peregrine: the true driving force in his life is to be seen as a protector, as a provider, as a good fighter and a good man. he will Freak Out if he perceives anything as getting in the way of that. especially if its his own actions that make him look weak or immoral in any way, i.e. sleeping with jace when he and aurora are on a break. 

Dagbert: truly. genuinely. from the bottom of his heart. he could not give less of a shit. he wants to be known as a goddamn professional, unlike the rest of these people, apparently. he’s out here trying to earn a fucking paycheck meanwhile everyone else in his party is ensnared in insane psychosexual drama. he’s angling to get a raise to buy out his ailing father’s construction business from him and let the man retire and this clownshow of a party is fucking it up for him.

Ysvelde: she’s not real unless youre clapping and cheering for her if you dont clap and cheer for her she’ll die. she lives and dies on the approval of an audience. she’s a star. but like for real she needs validation constantly, it doesnt matter where it comes from or how she gets it, she just needs to know that she’s getting a good grade in existing, something normal to want and possible to achieve. 

Aurora: her main thing is being right. she’s a cleric, she receives the divine word from sol, she’s his hand upon the world and she’ll spread his light to the darkest corners of spyre and consecrate it for him, make the world holy. she has her convictions and is firm in them, and she wants everyone to see her as a source of good and truth, both in battle and in spirituality. i think after a certain point she couldnt care less what her party thinks of her, she’s mainly looking for the approval of higher-ups in the church of sol to further solidify herself as a priestess and help shape the vision and direction of the church. 

Invidia: her and aurora butt heads a lot because she also is very into being correct, but in a way that is entirely divorced from divinity. instead, she wants other people to see her as observant to a scary degree. she wants you to know that she sees what you do, knows your habits inside and out, all your secrets, and is taking notes and filing them away for blackmail purposes. and when you slip up she WILL brag about predicting your downfall to your face. it’s why she and jace are the ivy-and-oisin of their party, they both love gossip and reveling in the misery of people they dont like.

11. Weapon of choice?

I decided from the jump that I wanted Robin to be a support caster--I actually enjoy that role a lot and the versatility of clerics, being able to focus on support while still having damage dealing options if necessary, is part of why they're my favorite class. That being said, I absolutely have a weapon of choice for Robin and it is the Blood of Lathander. I don't think she ever hit anybody with it, but with the amount of fiends and undead we encountered, blindness aura was a godsend (haha). Plus her damaging build was focused on inflicting radiant orb so always being illuminated helped. Plusx2 it gives you free once per day better than Death Ward! Would companion!Robin deeply disapprove of you stealing this holy relic? Sure, but see I wanted it super bad so we rescued it from being taken by the gith or something. She'll give it back to the church of Lathander when she's back from Avernus dw about it 👍

Woe's weapons of choice are 🤛 and 🤜; unarmed strikes baby! This Durge is running around punching people to death and goddamn does it feel good. They are equipped with Corellon's Grace (the staff you can buy from Auntie Ethel way back in the Grove) for that unarmed strike and saving throw bonus, and even that might change bc I do remember coming across some good staff options in act 3, but for now it's just fist time.

13. What are their thoughts on killing? Is it a necessary evil or do they enjoy it?

I genuinely don't think Robin had killed anybody before the start of the game. It's a miracle she knew Sacred Flame and had had more than rudimentary self-defense lessons tbh. Which is to say, she hates it and we talked our way through as much of the game as we could. Although, especially by the time we reached some act 3 bosses, over time Robin did become a little more on board with the idea that some people just need to die. She got the killing blow on Raphael and let me tell you, there was some vicious glee involved. It's tough to go through this game and hold on to your morals.

Whereas Woe...oh Woe 😅 This bitch loves murder! They love feeling someone's life slip away beneath their bare hands. Even as they grow some boundaries about who they want to kill and why, I don't think they ever even get near the point where they think murder in and of itself is inherently wrong. It's very much reminiscent of something Astarion can say at the reunion party at the end of the game: "It turns out no one actually cares about murder, as long as you murder the right people." Woe believes that as long as they point their desires in a good direction, they can be a murder gremlin And a decent person.

24. Does your character believe in the afterlife?

My understanding of Forgotten Realms lore is that the afterlife is just a fact? It's like believing in the Earth being round--sure there are people who don't, but all serious people recognize it's how the world works. Now, Woe probably doesn't like to think about the afterlife much, since what happens to you depends on what god you've pledged yourself/betrayed your faith to and...well. Bhaal isn't happy with them to say the least and Woe isn't interested in following anyone else. Although I suppose Withers could do another hail mary and intervene with Kelemvor, shuffle them along to somewhere decent. Woe isn't thinking that far ahead tho lol. And for Robin, she knows she's going to reside with Mystra. Even with all her faith angst, I think becoming part of the Weave (an interpretation I've seen for where Mystra followers go that I really like) is a fate she'd welcome.

26. What animal best represents your Tav?

I had to wrack my brain for this with Robin bc it's Not a robin lol, but turns out it Is another bird. Did you know doves and pigeons are the same thing? That's what Robin is. A dove: beauty, peace, love and loyalty. A pigeon: scrappy, tenacious, and surprisingly intelligent. Both, even when seeing one side would seem to preclude the other.

Funnily enough a few months back my partner and I tossed around ideas for a bit for a daemon au of the bg3 au we're already working on (I know). Which means I can say off the bat that Woe is a hyena, specifically a spotted hyena! They're powerful and clever hunters who have a complex social hierarchy based on competition, rather than the cooperation found in most social species. Woe actually isn't a solitary person, but they mostly only know how to engage with others through violence, so this is a really good fit.

7 - what color brings you peace?

My favorite color is yellow but I think the most calming and peaceful color is a light shade of green.

17 - fairy lights or LED lights

Easy, fairy lights, they don’t trigger my migraines so long as they aren’t like the kind that blink or flash between colors. LED lights are hit or miss, but they’re infinitely better than florescent lights.

27 - which character would you want to be?

My first choice would be any of my own OCs lol. But then again most of them are traumatized messes so maybe not.

I think it would be cool to be The Doctor. Traveling all of time and space, seeing the wonders of the universe. Sure there are downsides (lonely, friends always die, depending on which Doctor last of their kind and trauma from being the one forced to genocide the Daleks and the Time Lords), but like, all of time and space!

(Yes I would be the dumbass to join the Doctor as a companion without a second thought and stay until something inevitably kills me lol.)
