Concerned Felipe + Angry Diego

*Diego grimaces in pain as he fences with Felipe. He grabs his right wrist with his left hand before blocking Felipe's sword and doubles over in pain. Immediatly Felipe, concerned, comes near - but Diego straightens back up and angrily slices at a plant several times with his sword, before throw it away.* Diego, as he grabs his right arm: This arm is practically useless! It's no where near healed!

I watched The Discovery last night.

I love Redford! It's about a doctor who finds absolute proof that we go on after death. This Discovery causes 4 million people to commit suicide.

That's nothing I would do. I'd just be a lot more OK with dying naturally. I wouldn't rush to speed up the process.

THE FLORIDA PROJECT is back on Netflix!!

It's one of the best films I've ever seen!!

The story of very young children of poverty left on their own by parents scratching to survive by working themselves to death and griftung and the toll it takes.

The cinematography is dazzling and how these child actors were overlooked for awards I can't understand.

Animorphs #20 The Discovery

Summary

Marco is out in the world vibing when he sees a new kid at school, David. Not really much going on there until he realizes he's got a blue cube with him. Marco instantly recognizes it as the morphing cube that helped create the Animorphs. How the heck did he get that, lol.

He tries to be subtle about it and offer to buy it off him but David thinks he's got something valuable. Feeling the urgency of the situation, Marco convinces the Animorphs they need to get it from David as soon as possible. The attempt goes spectacularly bad and David becomes convinced that whatever he has is so valuable that someone has sent their trained birds to steal it.

Things get even worse the next day because David lets Marco in on his plan to sell the morphing cube to someone he met on the Internet. It's kind of sweet that he trusts Marco at this point. Marco starts to freak out a bit and the Animorphs try and stop the transaction.

Somehow this plan works out even worse because the mysterious buyer is of course Visser Three in his full on andalite form. The Animorphs are able to save the morphing cube (officially known as an Escafil device) and David but his parents are taken as controllers.

Now they have an orphan they need to take care of and only Marco notices he seems kind of evil. Anyway time for a new Animorph and oh yeah to be continued....!

Thoughts

I don't remember much from this book. As a trilogy I remember a particular battle in the next book and sort of the way it ends. I also remember it being really stressful, haha.

This book reaffirms Marco as my favorite Animorph

I love his rivalry with David

I got a new MacBook for work last week. One of the "new" features is the ability to send a timed email. Something David is able to set up himself way back in the 90s.

I love how Marco tells David what his parents will say before he calls them from a payphone.

I was really hoping that the book would magically change and they wouldn't vote David into the group

I always thought of him as evil Marco

But the problem now is that I did not make the video when I had the chance, so it's not a thing that exists that I can inflict on other people. It is only inflicted upon me, and it's sort of a closed loop. Since it's (APPARENTLY) a popular/current song, I almost always hear it at least once, just flipping through my stations in the car. And then that reminds me of the "very funny video" that "would do numbers on tumblr" or whatever that doesn't exist and then it's a whole thing, but it just keeps happening, and it is so dumb, and that is why I woke up with whatever the fuck that song is on a loop. I don't even know. I've probably heard it (in reality or internally) over a hundred times and I don't even know the name of the fucking song, I have to go find it now, Jesus Christ. What a nightmare. Truly the Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006) of songs, a comparison that likely makes as much sense as whatever I end up cutting for brevity, but it makes sense to me. The song is Unholy by Sam Smith, by the way.

Oh, so the Discovery is that an afterlife exists. No details on what it is. As Robert Redford told us "if you see a train leaving the station, do you need to know where it's going?"

It is the tv flashing blue lights and static. The hunger that sits in your belly.

You will claw through skin that will not give to touch him. Eat yourself sick and never know full. Devouring a flesh never meant to feed you.

You will stick fingers in your mouth, pick at the back of your throat to know the taste again. Spread the slick concoction of your body up your thighs. He will tell you to stop and you will cry for him.

There will be blood again. You seek Providence with bared throat and open mouthed.
