my new favourite headcanon is ace jason grace, and i think it would just fit so well into his character so lemme explain (also creds to @snoelledarts who helped me write this)
As we know, his overall character arc is about struggling against the expectations put on him because of his birthright, being the son of Jupiter.
This presented itself in two ways: The inherent stigma of being the son of Jupiter/Zeus, and the pressure Camp Jupiter had placed on him to be a perfect soldier/leader
To talk about the stigma first, I want to focus on Jason and Piper’s interactions with Achelous, because it really makes my heart hurt for him.
“Poor thing. Another girl stuck with a son of Zeus.” “Wait a minute,” Jason said. “It’s Jupiter actually. And how does that make her poor thing?” - pg. 335, the Mark of Athena
To summarize: Achelous describes to Jason and Piper how Hercules' died, how he took after Zeus by having affairs and flirting with anything that moved. Then, after catching wind of her husband's infidelity, Hercules’ second wife killed him out of jealousy. Then Achelous warns Piper about Jason being a son of /Zeus/.
Piper doesn’t even look at Jason after this. She fears for herself, and for what Jason could possibly do just because of his birthright. How do you think that affected Jason at this moment? The horror and fear that he could hurt the people he loves? That it could be inevitable for him to follow in his fathers footsteps? Especially when Piper doubts him at that moment, how could he also not doubt himself?
Even though at the end of this conflict she shows her dedication and belief in him, that she believes he is better than the people he’s related to, I fear that the doubt was already planted in his head.
Moving onto the pressures that the Romans placed on him, I think it’s important context to look at what happened BEFORE he made it to CJ
When he was abandoned by his mom at the Wolf House, she promised that she would come back to him, but she never did.
His mother’s unkempt promise was at the core of who he was. He’d built his whole life around the irritation of her words, like the grain of sand at the center of a pearl. People lie. Promises are broken. That was why, as much as it chafed him, Jason followed rules. He kept his promises. He never wanted to abandon anyone the way he’d been abandoned and lied to. - pg. 31, the Blood of Olympus
So from the absolute beginning of his time in the Legion, he felt a strong need to follow rules, even though another part of him so desperately wanted to break free of them.
And we know he struggled against the expectations about being a son of Jupiter because of the glimpses we get about his time in the Legion.
This had been the story of my life, he thought bitterly. Everyone had always watched him, expecting him to lead the way. From the moment he’d arrived at Camp Jupiter, the Roman demigods treated him like a prince in waiting. Despite his attempts to alter his destiny–joining the worst cohort, trying to change the camp traditions, taking the least glamorous missions, and befriending the least popular kids–he had been made praetor anyway. As a son of Jupiter, his future had been assured. - pg. 30 the Blood of Olympus
But I want to look at these expectations in a slightly different lens than just being destined to lead. Specifically, I want to look at this in terms of hegemonic masculinity, which is a specific social identity or performance of masculinity that is virtually unattainable.
This masculinity was very likely part of the pressure that the Romans put onto Jason. This includes the idea that men, ‘real men’, need to be physically superior, money makers, have political power, be conventionally attractive, and use those looks and charms and status to have sex, like a Real Man™️should.
You just KNOW that these warped ideals, mixed with the expectations of being the son of JUPITER aka horny menace #1 created some fucked up ideals in his head and pressure from others about how he should act.
All of this leads me to the conclusion that an ace Jason Grace would be a natural, and fitting identity, as well as add so much depth to his character
First of all, realizing he’s ace would be a huge relief
Apart from the “oh i’ve finally found language that describes me and my experience” (bc i feel like he’d hear one of his friends mention it during conversation and he’d be like what’s that? and then when they explain it he’d be like huh. interesting. very interesting. and then go home n scour the internet for resources to explain more)
There’d be that part of him that’s like, relieved that there’s a piece of him that inherently separates him from Jupiter’s legacy, in both the way way that Achelous outlined, and the one forced on him by the Romans
Jason who rejects that side of being related to his father, to being Roman, to being this glorified version of himself that doesn't exist. Jason who gets to relax and live without the fear that he's anything like his father.
Also, this could work completely with how his and Piper’s relationship played out. They truly did love each other despite the godly meddling, but their circumstances didn’t set them up to last.
And maybe… maybe their relationship worked so well for Jason, because of Piper's sexuality.
Piper isn't really into guys like that (Jason maybe being an exception because of the memories from hera or because of specific circumstances/the kind of person Jason is), and Jason isn't really... into people like that and so he doesn't see anything weird about how Piper is either?
They're both not correct about their sexualities and maybe trying to cover it up which is what made their relationship kinda functional for a while because neither of them were pushing for anything super romantic or over the top or sexual
I feel like I could even pull from the Cupid scene to support this
If this invisible guy was Love, then Jason was beginning to think love was overrated. He liked Pipers version better - considerate, kind, and beautiful. pg. 289, the House of Hades
Considerate is SUCH a specific word choice. Especially when we know that considerate is the antithesis to everything Jupiter is.
AND it’s the antithesis to everyone else in Jason’s life. Do you ever think the Romans were ever considerate to him? Likely not. They just expected him to perform, like a son of Jupiter should.
Therefore, his relationship with Piper was perfect for him, because she didn’t see him as a son of Jupiter. She saw him as Jason Grace, her best friend.
And if he ever does find a partner, he’d have the confidence and ability to be upfront about his sexuality because he won’t be pressured by expectations like that again.
The relief of knowing intimacy looks a little different for him, and the relief of like, letting people be gentle and soft, with him and that’s all that’s expected. That's all he needs, and no one else feels he needs to go further either. He can just breathe.
That’s what Jason Grace deserves.
#thank you for coming to my ted talk#i just#*takes a deep breath*#love this boy so much and think he deserves the world and he takes up so much of my brain power#let me know yalls thoughts plz but PLEASE keep it friendly#any hate will be blocked fr#jason grace#pjo#percy jackon and the olympians#heroes of olympus#piper mclean#toa#trials of apollo

Almost the same.
[Part 1] (Another fic based on a few drawings of @mas-away that I absolutely loved to be based on, and my own ideas too ofc :3)
From the moment he was born, Odysseus wings were always the same color: white and the tips of the feathers a pretty purple. It was a bit surprising, not because of the fact he had little head wings at all, his maternal grandfather and mother had wings too, but theirs were a different color. His own were the exact same as his great grandfather, Hermes.
Autolycus wings, his grandfather, were more of a brown color with different tones, related to his own powers as a thief who could make the things he stole invisible. His mother’s wings, Anticlea, were less of a vibrant color, a soft baby blue, almost too pale to be noticed and quite the contrast against her own father’s and Hermes palette color.
Ctimene’s wings were a pretty light orange, almost goldish with lighter tips, going perfectly with her personality when she grew up after being born, but Odysseus were a perfect copy of Hermes, although with only a set, it was quick to show he would have a stronger connection in the future with his great grandfather, being more alike than anyone would expect.
When he grew up, those similitudes were made clearer and the way he would spend time together with Hermes only reinforced that. Two sides of the same coin, it should be ridiculous to say that about a god and a mortal, but it was true for everyone who knew and saw them whenever the god was around, not like the two of them would deny it, but it was still fun to point it out.
He took great care of them, not displaying them off too much, of course, but he was proud and liked to run his fingers through them whenever he was thinking, or even keeping them pressed against his head so they wouldn’t flutter and puff up to show how he was feeling.
When he went to war, it was difficult to take care of them and it was troublesome to even keep them safely hidden beneath the curls of his hair, but he managed. Preening was barely done, although he trusted Eurylochus and Polites for it, they had more important matters and even he forgot to do it while planning on how to infiltrate past the walls of Troy so they could rescue Helen and manage to escape without trouble.
When trying to get back home, it was better at the start, but after Polites dead he would stress out and pull a few feathers from his wings, sometimes he would grab a handful and sob his heart out. He had not only lost his best friend, but Athena, his mentor and patron goddess, had left him too after the decision of making himself known to Polyphemus after he blinded him because he had taken the life of a lot of his men and Polites too.
Foolish decision, but he had been tired and angry, he wanted it to hurt and have the cyclop suffer not being considered because of the first “name” he had given him at the start.
When he met Aelous, his wings were not the best, he was ashamed of how they looked bald on a few spots and so kept them hidden beneath the hat that Penelope had made for him. The wing god ended up finding about them either way and gave him some oil to help the growth of feathers back in an instant, although not without some itchiness that he had to stop himself from stopping.

A list of things I don’t like about the Percy Jackson show in no particular order because I’m a hater
- Sally talks back to Gabe. She’s supposed to be a silent rebel and book Sally would never jeopardize Percy’s safety because she’s angry with Gabe. Because I think the writers forgot, the WHOLE reason Gabe is there is because she is protecting Percy with his presence
- Annabeth is too stoic. Obviously, tv Annabeth has emotions and expresses them but it’s very limited in my opinion. Book Annabeth is emotional about everything. She is quick to anger, pride, sadness and to not show it because she’s ‘too smart for that’ is dumb. She’s 12 and emotions are normal
- Instead of Percy seeing the fates cut Luke’s string, it’s annabeth. Annabeth may be closer with Luke, but it should not be her to be aware of Luke’s fate. She’s too close to Luke to be analytical. Percy seeing it made him realize the prophecy is about Luke. Percy is the main character and should give Luke the knife. Also, Annabeth giving Luke the knife wouldn’t be nearly as meaningful because she’s always had faith he would turn around; even after he trapped her under the sky in titans curse. Percy trusted Luke to do the right thing at the exact right time
- Grover is a whole different character. The only example you need to know he’s not book Grover is tv Grover straight up lying/manipulating the god of war to his face. Book Grover is brave but not like that. He has too much respect and fear for the gods. Don’t get me wrong, I like tv Grover, he’s just not accurate to the book
- Misdirect of Clarisse being the lightning thief. What was even the point? Just seemed very random
-Fight scenes were lacking. I can’t entirely explain it, but I was bored for every one of them. Hate to bring the movies into this, but at least the movies had interesting fight scenes that had me on the edge of my seat
- Poseidon was basically a saint in the show, which is a big no no. I’m not saying he can’t be likeable, but Poseidon was NOT that nice. First of all, he wouldn’t go against Zeus like that. Not for Sally, and certainly not for Percy. He would do some minor rebelling, but he would not directly fight or disobey Zeus for either of them.
- Despite the last point, they showed too much of the Olympian’s bad sides. They absolutely would do all of this stuff in the show and more, but Percy shouldn’t be made aware of this yet. Percy knows the gods aren’t great in book 1, but he doesn’t quite know the extent until he finds out about the story of the oracle in book 5. This is why he’s more bitter in heroes of Olympus. He knows more about the god’s bad sides. If book 1 Percy knew/saw all the stuff about the tv show gods, then he probably would’ve led his own rebellion against the gods and Kronos.
- Gabe’s death? Come on. What happened to ‘If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself’ (don’t know if that’s the exact quote). Sally deserved to kill Gabe. Percy could’ve done it, but Sally made the choice for it to be her. Ignoring the fact that Gabe wasn’t abusive, just a general jerk so he didn’t deserve to die, but also, the death being an accident felt easy. Sally killed her husband and she had zero remorse for it. She used his dead statue body to sell and use the money to go back to college and follow her dream of writing a book, while also meeting the real love of her life, Paul Blofis
- Kind of made this point already, but I’d like to specifically point out Athena being too cruel. Not to say she isn’t cruel, because she is. However, the show made it clear too early on. Annabeth is the favorite child up until mark of Athena, that’s why she’s so distraught over her hat losing its invisibility power. Annabeth always had Athena’s respect up until that point. Athena wants to protect Annabeth from Percy in the original series. She would not just try and kill her. At least, not in book 1
- Changing Medusa’s story. I understand to a degree why they did it. There’s been a lot of talk the past few years on social media about what Medusa’s story means to them. They did show Medusa as a victim, but immediately disregarded it because she uses it as an excuse to… kill children for no reason. Might as well have kept the original story in at that point. Not to mention Poseidon sucks, but only in this story, and he’s a saint for the rest of the show. Feels like that makes it worse
- Deadline didn’t matter. They miss it, but it doesn’t matter for no reason. Every book has a deadline, including in every spinoff so what’s going to happen with future seasons? Is the timeline going to be ignored because it was fine the first time? Or are they going to backtrack and say, ‘Ok, THIS time limit matters. Ignore the fact there was an exception the first time’
- Luke is too tamed. Too apologetic. He’s supposed to be angry. So sure he is right that nothing will stand in his way. Not any friend or family could talk him down at this point. We’re not supposed to sympathize with him. Not yet. He is the main villain at this point and there should be no sign of redemption yet. May’s story (his mom) happened way too soon. It was told in the last book for a reason. So Luke could gain sympathy and make Percy question his side; he does question it but doesn’t “trust” Luke until he gives him the knife 100-200 pages later.
- Annabeth was there for Luke’s betrayal. She should not be there because Annabeth is supposed to be a Luke defender for the whole series basically. ‘Luke was wrong, but he can change’ basically. I don’t know how she’s supposed to defend him when she experiences his betrayal firsthand instead of just hearing he betrayed everything she believes in. This is important because it’s the main conflict between Percy and annabeth through the series; Annabeth’s loyalty to Luke. Also, little side note: This is an example of tv Annabeth being too stoic. Book Annabeth would do what she’d have to in this situation, but she’d be a crying mess. Which is fine! Having emotions is normal!
- Dialogue is stiff. I don’t know why it is, but some things just don’t flow. Even direct quotes from the books doesn’t feel right sometimes. Maybe it’s because they rushed filming and should’ve done more takes to get it right? I don’t know. I don’t doubt the actors talents so I’m not blaming them. Walker Scobell did great in the Adam’s Project and he was only 12 I believe! He didn’t have a single line that felt stiff in that movie but his lines along with the other mains seemed a little off at times.
- Kind of goes along with last point; some dialogue is accurate to the characters, but not in the context it’s used in the show. Here’s an example that someone else pointed out and I agree with them completely. Percy’s line about Thalia having a pine cone’s fate is so out of character. Would Percy say that to Thalia in Titan’s curse? Probably. But would book 1 Percy insult and dishonor Thalia’s death after finding out she sacrificed herself for her friends? Absolutely not. Percy thought her story was brave and tragic. Percy would say that line in other cases, but he would not say it under those circumstance.
- Kind of the opposite of previous points, but why is Hades so nice?? They made him into a silly guy and play it off for laughs. It’s supposed to be a serious scene. There’s humor everywhere else in the series so use that humor somewhere else. Hades is angry because Percy ‘stole’ his helm and hates him for the rest of the series. How are they going to make this guy lock Percy up in the last Olympian and fight him? This is the guy Nico is scared of, which is why it was brave he stood up to him. This is the guy who told his son that he wished he died instead of his sister. Just doesn’t seem right
- They figure everything out too fast. They figured out who Medusa and Procrustes is right away. This series is kind of like an introduction to Greek mythology to kids who don’t know anything about it. It’s about learning, but also building up the tension. Knowing something is wrong, but not knowing what. I don’t care that they were all told Greek myths growing up and that 2 of them have been training for years. Learning something in the classroom doesn’t mean they will automatically know what to do in a real life scenario. Monsters are supposed to TRICK. That’s what happens in almost every book.
- Why were there four pearls only for them to lose one? When I first read the book, I didn’t think about them needing more than three so it felt super unnecessary
- I know I’m pointing out too much about each god that appears but I don’t care. Ares admitting he loves his family is soooo weird. Pretty sure he would take over and destroy most of them
- tv show watchers don’t know how close Luke and Annabeth are. Those two barely interact and they tell us a couple times they’re close from lines like ‘She’s like a sister’ and whatnot, but it doesn’t accurately portray the care they have for one another. It doesn’t help that Annabeth barely reacted to his betrayal in the show

I would love it if you could do this☺️

Masterlist
...........................................
Today was being a good day. A few months had passed since you had been transferred to 118 and you were officially part of this crazy family. You loved them. You had a special bond with Hen. Your sister worked with Karen and since the two of you started living alone after your parents death, Karen and Hen practically adopted you. You had dinner at their house almost every night and as soon as they heard that you had become a paramedic, Hen made sure to take you to 118.
And it was the best thing that ever happened in your life. You were now part of a family that you hadn’t had for a long time. Bobby and Athena loved you and your sister as if you were their own daughters. Chim and Maddie adored you, and Eddie made you babysit when he needed to solve some things or even go to dates, not that you’re complaining, you absolutely loved being with Christopher.
And there was Buck.
Your relationship was complicated. Nobody could ever contain their surprise when they realized how similar you and Buck were, your (bad) jokes, your charm, your humor. You were practically the same person. And the sexual tension that swirled between you was frighteningly visible. The jokes about you getting a room were constant. Until you got one. And you had the best night of your lives together.
The problem was the after. You didn’t know how to react around each other, everything was so uncomfortable. Until one day you realized that you were developing feelings for the blue-eyed fireman. This scared you so much, that you decided to distance yourself. You were giving him the cold shoulder for a few weeks now, and it was making buck feel really uncomfortable. He didn’t like not hearing your contagious laughter, your ridiculous jokes or not being able to have some of your warm hugs. The two of you were so confused.
“you should talk to him, I can’t stand you two idiots acting all weird anymore” Hen had been trying to make you talk to him for days and today as you were on the way to a call was no different.
“oh sure- Buck, after an amazing night together I found myself completely in love with you. How does this even make sense” you mocked as you prepared to get out of the ambulance and you heard Hen’s laughter.
“first of all, too much details. Second, you could just have a mature conversation together and it would all work out.” You rolled your eyes and Hen held your arm. “if you could only see the way he looks at you.”
Hen released the grip on your arm and you ran towards Bobby who was shouting orders to the team. Today was a tough call. A residential building on fire. You prepared triage for the arriving victims while the firefighters rushed with their equipment into the burning building.
“Cap, I need some help over here. A victim on the second floor with a piece of wood stuck in his chest. I won’t be able to transport him that way.”
You could hear Eddie calling the captain over the radio and your gaze crossed with Hen’s. When she made mention of moving, you were faster.
“Cap let me help. The wood needs to be stabilized and if that doesn’t work, they'll need someone with enough medical knowledge, or that person won’t make it out of that building alive.” Your heart was beating wildly in your chest. The adrenaline was extremely high and you could feel your hands sweating.
You noticed the look Bobby gave Hen and saw when she nodded slightly. The minute you finished gearing up, you saw Buck leaving the building with another victim and when his gaze met you, the desperation was clear on his face.
“Cap no, she can’t go inside. It’s too dangerous.” He tried to persuade the captain, but it wasn’t Buck who was going to undo his decision.
“Buck, you don’t give the orders here, she’s already prepared to go in. Either you will go inside with her, or I will”
He didn’t have to say it twice and in a few seconds you were inside a burning building. Buck was directing you where it was safe to step, when to duck or sneak. Your heart was pounding, your breathing was heavy. It was so hot. As soon as you found Eddie, he gave you the same surprised look, but let you do your job. When the patient was stable, he could finally be transported without danger.
Eddie and Ravi went ahead and you stayed behind for a few seconds. Long enough so that when you went to cross the same hallway you came in, a burning beam fell in front of you. Buck pulled you to his feet just as the beam passed within millimeters of your face. You were in shock for a few seconds.
“We have to go up, it’s the safest option.”
Before you could think, Buck pulled you in and you ran up the stairs to the top floor. As you went through the door that led to the terrace you could hardly breathe because of how many floors you ran up. All you could hear was Bobby’s orders to evacuate the building. It could collapse at any second. Buck radio him your location and the captain said that they were going to position the ladder for you to get out of there. Buck ran to the edge of the building and when he made mention of pulling you in, you could see how high up you were and you got desperate.
“cmon, we have to be prepared to jump on the ladder” He tried to pull you again but you were faster and took a few steps back.
“i can’t- Buck i can’t”
“What are you talking about, we have to-“
“Buck i CAN’T” you shouted the last word and he could see the desperation in your voice. You started to hyperventilate, your head was spinning, and you fell to your knees on the floor before Buck could hold you.
“w-what is going on? are you o-okay?” He asked holding you in his arms but could see you had difficulty in drawing in air. Buck quickly took off your mask and saw the tears streaming down your face. He started to panic.
“i-i can’t, it’s too h-high” You stuttered and he finally understood. You were afraid of heights.
“hey, hey look at me” He held your face firmly and tears were streaming down your face. “We need to get out of here, the building is going to collapse any second. I need you to trust me because I don’t want to lose you today, okay? I don’t want to lose you without having a chance to tell you how I feel about you, us”
Your eyes widened and he continued talking. “I need you to take a deep breath for me okay? Do it for me please"
You nodded desperately and drew deep breaths. You could hear Bobby yelling at you to get out of there soon, the building was about to collapse. Buck stood up and held out his hand to you. “Do you trust me?”
You nodded again and Buck guided you to the ladders.
"i need you to be brave"
He never let go of your hand, and when you were halfway down, the building collapsed. Buck held you as tight as he could as everything came crashing down behind you.
As soon as the smoke cleared enough for you to finish coming down, everyone rushed to meet you.
“What happened, are you okay? Are you hurt?” Hen ran up to you checking you out and you hugged her tight, assuring her that you were fine. Either way she put you in the ambulance to check your vitals and put you in oxygen for your difficult to breath.
“Don’t ever scare me like that again, and don’t ever try to be a smart-ass again. Next time you stay and I’ll go” she complained as you parked at the station and you smiled.
“Okay okay, sorry for the scare mama Hen.”
You scoffed as you opened the ambulance to organize the supplies and noticed when a pair of blue eyes walked past you. You quickly pulled him aside and he had his eyebrows raised. “I believe you commented something that if I didn’t die today, you would have a confession to make” you noticed his cheeks turning pink and you laughed.
“thank you for helping me there. I could never imagine I would panic in the middle of a burning building, but my fear of heights took me to a very dark place and if you hadn’t been with me, I probably wouldn’t be-“ Your eyes were watering and buck’s arms surrounded you.
“you don’t need to thank me, I will always have your back” You broke away from the embrace and you saw that damn smirk on his face. “I hope we can continue this conversation at my place after the shift?”
“asshole” You laughed and went back to the ambulance.
You were so screwed.

So I know that this is technically the first season of this show where we know going in to season 8 what the storylines will be--at least in general broad strokes and I am so excited! There's literally so many different ways things can play out and I can't wait!
Bobby and Athena -- I actually feel like as a relationship we didn't see this develop much because they literally went from like a date in season 1 to making out in between fire trucks in season 2 and engaged a few episodes later so I absolutely loved the idea of Athena's fear in season 7 of "What do we have when we're not running around?" I hope that they explore that a little more in the idea of "What does our life look like if/when we're not working?" Plus Bobby not being Captain anymore is such an interesting personal story because he literally only came back to being a Captain because he felt like he had a debt to pay. But now it's up to him to really choose whether he still wants to be an active captain or not... (Obviously he won't be Captain forever and I have Thoughts on where I want these characters to go lol) But the comedy gold of him being a tech advisor on a show is hilarious and I genuinely wouldn't be upset if it lasts a long time and then the actor keeps showing up at the fire house after the fact.
I am not a huge fan of Athena's storylines because it's really hard to root for cops in general but also she has abused her power so many times with no thoughts, but maybe MAYBE this idea with reuniting with that man from her past could be a change of, hey things are not as black and white. (I still understand why they framed Athena begins the way they did, but I think it would have been a much bigger impact to have let the man go because he turned his life around and became such a positive influence. But that's just me.)
Also give them more comedy storylines! The cruise ship stuff is one of my favorite things ever with Athena trying to solve a murder but also not wanting to be left alone with Bobby while Bobby is like "I think my wife is avoiding me." Comedy gold and I loved it. Give me them moving in to a neighborhood with HOAs and ridiculous neighborly gossip that they're always investigating and spying but like the lowest stakes possible. (Like the garbage spying Bobby and Michael did that one episode, just not always leading to a secret underground plastic surgeon.) Just give them fun stuff to do. Please.
Hen and Chimney -- I absolutely that this season is set up to sort of test that relationship in a way. Because Chimney and Maddie took in Mara as the sweetest thing to do, but how do they manage this now that Mara is putting down roots. I feel like this is something that is going to lead to a lot of emotions on both sides because Chimney's not trying trying to take Mara away but I also feel like that's going to play on the fears / feelings of Hen and Karen not having security with their children. (But it will be a happy conclusion with Mara back at Henren's as a family because I will be sad if it becomes this idea of "maybe Mara is better off with Madney" just because Henren have gone through that so many times!)
Maddie and Chimney--would love to see them talking about the future of their family, are they having more kids, do they even want more kids? They've never talked about it and I think taking Mara in is the perfect excuse for them to bring it up, have those discussions that I feel like they've never been that great at having. And give them the wedding reception they deserve! Just let them be happy and in love.
Eddie... what can't the do with Eddie this season? Of all the characters, he has had the least amount of growth / development in the show. He's stagnant, unchanged, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's that he's been put in situations where there should have been some growth or change but it's never actually happened. I still think of Lena calling Eddie out on being a terrible friend (which is why I actually don't think he hangs out much with the rest of the firefam because he is incredibly self-centered so much and completely unaware of it.) I really want this separation with Chris to force him to deal with Shannon's death and everything that led up to that--he ran away from his responsibilities as a parent and a partner, he just moves passed anything that's difficult for him until it seemingly works out again, or just acts like nothing's wrong. I just want to see some development for him--I'd take anything at this point lol. I want him to acknowledge his flaws and failings and then work through them, because that's where the story lies--whether that's through reconnecting with his religious roots or deconstructing, or intensive grief counselling and therapy. And no romantic relationships for him this year. Part of his growth NEEDS to be that having a romantic partner is not going to "fix him" or "cure him" and apart from having sex with the women, he never seems to be happy in those relationships. Now that could be him being aromantic or just putting way too much pressure on every relationship to immediately be lived in and like his rose-colored view of his marriage to Shannon--which shockily doesn't happen because the women are not Shannon?
Buck, my boy, I am so excited for this season for him! I feel like they might be leaning into the potential of an ADHD diagnosis for him--just purely based on the slow-mo, overstimulated shot of the camera slowly zooming in on his face. And the idea of that on top of him just realizing and discovering his bisexuality could be a really interesting storyline to explore. Sort of a parallel to Buck Begins of him "not knowing what being Buck means" again but different. It's less he doesn't know who he is but he's just gotten so much new information about himself and he's struggling to place the pieces and how much that changes his perception of himself--if it does.
Add that to his new relationship with Tommy, the story that could come of that! Or literally any potential hurdle a new relationship deals with. They were both so open and vulnerable when they had that conversation but it's not a stretch to think that Buck might pull back a bit from sharing that stuff with Tommy because he's so terrified of being too much and/or being abandoned. And even if Tommy tells Buck he's not, there's a very good chance that Buck just won't be able to believe him. Or their hurdles could just be general communication issues or realizing they have different communication styles or moving in together. Or it could be the giddy excitement of being in this new, fun relationship might mean they've moved away from some of those more heavier topics. So many options!
The absolute only thing I don't want is any form of jealousy on Tommy's part that's because he's dating a bisexual. I don't see them going that route and how regressive and bi-phobic it is, but that's my least favorite thing ever in the limited bisexual representation we have and that would genuinely upset me. Totally fine if Tommy has jealousy based on his insecurities--like why would Buck be serious about him, maybe it's too soon to settle down, maybe it's just Buck is so effortlessly charming that it's sometimes hard for Tommy. All totally fine, even if I would prefer that to not be the case.
All this to say, I'm so excited and literally want to both see how this season plays out and also write every version of this!

I JUST LISTENED TO THE ENTIRE ITHACA SAGA SO SPOILERS AHEAD
The Challenge:
We start off with a Penelope song! And I swear she eats this up!!! She only has 2 songs but she goes crazy with the vocals!!! Her voice is genuinely like lotus, I am just absolutely entranced and just cannot stop listening for even a moment!!!
Penelope saying “husbands old bow” while the suitors say “old husbands bow” is subtle but so meaningful and shows how differently they think of Odysseus!
The “Waiting” callback from the underworld!
————————————————————————-
Hold Them Down:
I’d listened to sneak peaks and snippets from like a year ago but hearing the actual version!!!! Antonious’s voice in this song is insane!
Don’t you dare hurt my baby Telemachus!!
What is their problem with his bones!!! “You’ll have run out of bones to break when you and I are through”(Little Wolf) and “Hold him down while I slowly break his pride, his trust, his faith, and his bones”(Hold Them Down)
The way they talk about Penelope gives me worse shivers than the beginning of Thunder Bringer. But it’s also very telling of what the suitors actually think of Penelope!! They don’t care about her as a person. They just want the crown, and the power.
Bye bye Antonious!!
Overall great villain song. One of, if not, the best I’ve ever heard. I feel conflicted about liking this song because the lyrics are so dark but the song itself is sooooo good!!!
————————————————————————
Odysseus:
Right off the bat, I love the name. The only names in song titles are monsters(Polyphemus, Scylla, Charybdis) so the title being “Odysseus” indicates that he has become some sort of “monster” and that’s a really cool form of symbolism to show it!(you can also hear the monsters names in the background throughout the song)
DO NOT talk about his family like that!
I like the “Where is he?”(Legendary) reverberation. It’s a nice touch!
He stole their weapons!!! This is some Athena level stuff!!
“You don’t think I know my own palace? I built it!” no notes! That line is one of the most perfect lines to ever grace Spotify!
It’s interesting that the suitors asked for mercy. They know as well as Odysseus does that if he didn’t show up who knows what they would have done!! It’s more of an attempted trick than it is an actual apology.
The way the suitor suggests “open arms” and Odysseus doesn’t even let him finish!!
Odysseus shows his cleverness and why he deserves the title “Warrior of the Mind” in this song.(though he is clever in many other songs).
DONT YOU DARE TOUCH TELEMACHUS!!!!!
Again with the bones!!! “I’ll break the kids hands”. Just leave the kids poor bones alone!!!
That voice after Odysseuss says “mercy”!!
This song was brutal, perfect and I get why Athena told Ares the Odysseus “wanna gonna make everybody b|eed”
————————————————————————
I Can’t Help But Wonder:
Heartbreaking!! So cute!!
They both just want to be good enough for each other!! They missed each other soooo much!!
I’ve never cried during any movie, play, book, anything and got almost got me
ATHENA!!!!
The Queen has returned!!!
All the “Warrior of the Mind” callbacks!!
She’s sorry for what’s she did to him! She feels like she turned him into this. This is the the closest thing Athena’s ever gotten to an apology.
He forgives her(or close enough)!! He’s not gonna dwell on all the things he could have done differently, he just wants to see his wife!!
————————————————————————
Would You Fall In Love With Me Again:
Again Penelope ATE THAT UP! I still cannot get over her voice!!
She acknowledges that he’s a bit different but to her he’s still the love of her life!!!
THE WEDDING BED!! Odysseus seems hurt when she asks him to move it. She proved that he’s still the same man!!
The “Waiting” callback again
So cute, so romantic, so beautiful!
————————————————————————
Perfect ending. After everything he sacrificed he was able to get back to the people he did it all for.
10/10 no comments, no suggestions, absolutely nothing!
I’m so excited to see what everyone does next!! I hope Epic grows bigger than I could ever imagine!
I still think the play should have ended with “And that’s my Journessy”

THE LAST SAGA OF EPIC RELEASED
(I’m going to lose my mind sen help aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA)
It sounds so amazing and I’m so happy and I’m also absolutely like what am I even going to look forward to now but omg it’s been a journey and the Ithaca Saga sounds so amazing
More thoughts when I don’t have tasks to complete on a time crunch
(Okay one final note, I understand Odysseus entirely I too would sacrifice much life for Penelope)
Turns out I lied I’m putting off the tasks because EPIC
!!!!! The way I’m in love with Hold Them Down like I cannot put words to how much I love low harmonies like that
And his voiceeeeeee
And the song is just so cold like, it’s threatening in the same way we know that ice can burn. Like this shouldn’t happen, ice shouldn’t burn since it’s cold, and the suitors shouldn’t hurt Telemachus because they’re going after his mother, and yet ice burns and the suitors are cruel
The way the third song is just titled “Odysseus
Odysseus’ theme is so perfectly human and yet feels so unattainable.
NOT THE WAY FOR A HOT MINUTE I HEARD THE GHOST OF EURYLOCHUS
Gotta love Odysseus’ name being changed in the background (10-10)
The gruff and rough tone of the voices in this song is giving me so much life (unlike what Odysseus is giving the suitors)
Not open arms returning and then being outright denied, like every other time Odysseus turns away there’s something separating Odysseus from the open arms verse, but this time he just directly said no to the phrase.
Help the little slide up on one of the notes (I love singing and hearing those types of notes so much)
Lowkey this song is going to be so dope in animatic form
Odysseus vs the crimes committed under his own roof over the past several years (spoiler, Odysseus wins)
Me versus the little deep low note resonating at the end of the song who will win who will win not me
Telemachus and Odysseus reuniting is so sweet (me when I see my older sister legit just once every couple years)
Odysseus being so proud of his son just from seeing him <3
The show yourself theme and Athena returning in such a light instrumental means so much to me. Like returning to where Athena and Odysseus started as Odysseus returns to his home.
Would You Fall in Live with Me Again having such a transcendent opening instrumental aahhhhh
Penelope observing Odysseus’ differences upon seeing him again and Odysseus laying out all his changes and actions for her to see and choose to or not to accept ahhh, they’re so sweet
And of course she would fall in love with him again and again, over and over
And the little test she does for him to make sure it’s truly him, regardless of how much he’s changed
“Don’t tell me you’re not the same person, you’re always my husband” because before all else, he is the person of her love and adoration, before his actions and his changes, he is the one she is so truly fond of
Aaaaaa
Side note kudos to Penelope because I would’ve mourned over an empty grave far before she got to see her husband

I am partway through Ace Attorney Dual Destinies and I have...mixed feelings, to say the least.
First what I like. I really like Athena! I think she's a cool character with a bright personality that contrasts nicely with Phoenix and Apollo, who are more deadpan and sarcastic. Her specialization in psychology is interesting (although I wish it was used more organically, more on that later). She's also "not too skilled", in that while she is talented and well-meaning, she still makes blunders and doesn't always think things through.
The interactions between the three lawyers (Phoenix, Apollo and Athena) are really fun. All of them play off each other nicely and their discussions are fun and engaging. Phoenix seems to have come into his role as a mentor now that his name has been cleared but he still tends to be rather hands-off and lets Apollo and Athena figure things out by themselves, which is understandable and which I prefer to him constantly looking over their shoulders. The decision to alternate between the three as to who is the defense leader and the co-counsel is genius ! I suppose it is controversial in the fanbase, but I like seeing the different thought processes and energies brought by each character.
Simon Blackquill is fun! He took a little getting used to, but after a few trials I am starting to like him. Putting aside the whatthefuckitism that Japanifornia apparently allows convicted prisoners to serve as prosecutors (there's so many things wrong with it I don't know where to start...), he's a good opponent, not too unreasonable, I love his pet bird, and his interactions with the judge are fun! He's so obviously done with Fullbright which is absolutely hilarious (I can relate buddy).
I really enjoy the quality of life improvements, like the investigation part being more linear so that I don't have to go back and forth between settings and present all the evidence in the court record to every damn character to get hints as to what I have to do next (to be honest, aside from a few exceptions I don't enjoy these parts that much and largely prefer the trial part). The checklist is also a nice addition (although with the investigations being more linear it is mostly useless, but still a good addition).
The transition to 3D is... mweh. The new characters modeled in 3D are great, but the old ones... tend to go between "okay I guess" and fucking bad! The models for Klavier and Trucy are atrocious to see! The new models for the settings are gorgeous though, especially the court setting.
Now for what I don't like. This game feels very anime-esque. Ace Attorney has always been unhinged in terms of characters, murders, reactions, etc and I love it, but this game has brought some of anime's worst trend, like the "overtalking", where characters talk without giving any new information and without the dialogue being very interesting or even funny. Like for example, "She would never do that!", "But she did it! And I have evidence!", "Your evidence is bullshit! You're being mean to my friend! She would not do that!" and it makes the cases drag so much! The first case took me a while to get through simply because of that! They also brought more insistence on the "power of friendship" especially in the third case and it completely took me out of the game. The first trilogy also had friendship moments but they were more subdued and more organic. When it comes to character relationships, I am a big supporter of the "less is more" and "actions speak louder than words". If you need your characters to loudly and repeatedly proclaim the existence of their friendship for the audience to believe it, chances are you messed up somewhere. It was especially egregious when Professor Means crushed Athena's spirits in the trial and when practically every character involved in the case had to cheer her up. That was such an awkwardly brought moment. I also felt that it devalued Athena as a character to have her so easily crushed by the words of a witness, words that weren't even so bad in context. If she had been shown struggling all throughout the trial, losing confidence, slipping up, getting flashbacks and all, then yes it might have made sense, but as it was done it was more like
Athena: I have finally found the real muderer! He's slippery and clever but I know I can prove that he did it! He and his philosophy are going down! 😤😤😾😾💪💪 Pr. Means: You suck lady! You can't defend your friend and you also almost got her friend accused of murder! You can't protect anyone! Athena: OMG it's true 😭😭😢😢😩😩I suck and I am going to fail!
I am making allowance for Athena clearly having trauma and it being her first trial, but it could have been written better is what I'm saying.
Finally, the mood matrix is... a thing. I like it in theory but it is so awkwardly introduced. It feels so obviously tacked on for it to be Athena's "thing". Compare that to the Magatama, that reacts when people are hiding things, and the "Perceive" mechanic that allows Apollo to see when people lie. Yes these are obviously outlandish and brought it to add a game mechanic, but they feel more organic that Athena just pulling out a holographic computer and reading people's emotions.
I am not discounting the possibility of me being a tad too harsh on the game. I do have to say however that it is the first one that feels like a chore to get through to get to "the good stuff" (meaning the last trial because I know it will have Phoenix and Edgeworth facing each other in court and Athena and Simon's backstory). So far, I am afraid to say it is my least favorite of the bunch....

assigning the characters from 9-1-1 my tattoos—
buck: the sexy little strawberry in cowboy boots on my bicep aka the only tattoo that’s usually not visible. it’s a tattoo just for him, it’s inspired by drag queens and queer culture and it’s also just a little fun and silly. he definitely got it a little while after coming out as bisexual. this was a very cathartic tattoo for buck, he definitely had got it with eddie at the appointment with him.
eddie: the word “human” tattoo above the crease of my elbow. this tattoo has a lot of personal meaning I won’t go into but for eddie, I could see it have a very strong meaning too. no matter the fuck ups, no matter the jobs, he’s human. he’s just human and that’s more than enough. frank was very supportive of the tattoo after he showed up with in one session.
chim: the eyeball in a candy wrapper aka “eye candy” just below crease of my elbow. it’s absolutely a pun and a silly tattoo for him.
maddie: the stages of growth of a pumpkin (from seed to sprout to full grown pumpkin) on the back of my arm. for her, to would be able her growth as a wife, an ex-wife, a mother, and a remarried woman, and mostly importantly, her growth as herself.
hen: the fern tattoo on my side of my hand and up onto my thumb (though I could also give it to buck since oliver has a very similar tattoo on his arm) now, there isn’t much meaning in this tattoo for myself personally but for hen, it’s her reminder and connection to the world. that no matter how bad or scary a job gets and it feels like the calamity is all she can focus on. she is still carrying that bit of nature and the real world with her.
bobby: the three eyes on my upper arm, to bobby it would represent the three kids in his life; may, harry and buck. and in the third eye, there are three pupils to represent his two lost children and his passed wife. this was an emotional tattoo for bobby to get, and he cried explaining it to buck who went with him for emotional support to his tattoo appointment.
athena: the ferns, mushrooms and buttercups on my forearm. now to me this tattoo represents my childhood and now adulthood through the plants from my favourite video games in both stages of my life. i could see athena assigns different plants to the stages of her life like pre-motherhood, motherhood and even to bobby and michael and even emmett.
(the only other tattoo i have that i can’t think to assign a character to is the tooth tattoo on my upper arm. there’s no real meaning to it but i love it so much yknow.)

Collection of wisdom saga thoughts:
(None of these are in chronological order it’s just whatever pops in my head :P)
- Athena calling ody her friend in we’ll be fine vs ody calling Athena his mentor in monster????? That compared to my goodbye???? Fucking brutal. They’ve both changed so much after losing each other bro. OW
- LOVE that in little wolf the suitors are always using the chorus as like a taunt, bit it never fits into their dialogue it just kinda interrupts it but then Athena comes along and the chorus ties directly into what she’s saying, like “don’t go down without a- fight little wolf fight!” It’s really cool how it shows his opposition vs his allies I love it
- also just. so many shrimp emotions brought out during legendary and we’ll be fine. guh
- the video game aspects were so cool!!!!!! Love the one on one with Telemachus and antinous with the mortal combat-esk animation that went along with it!! And in god games how every time Athena convinced a god it played like a level up sound effect!!! Suuuper interesting :D
-CALYPSO!!!!! HER!!!! The first time ody has faced an enemy that doesn’t mean him any harm (harm as in like. trying to kill him, obvi she still did some fucked up shit to him) but might actually be the worst one out of all of them because he just misses his wife so damn badly. Don’t even get me STARTED on the fuckin “ody” and “open arms” shit bro that HURT
- Did I mention I love Telemachus? I love Telemachus. He’s so ambitious and so so kind and has such a good heart I adore himmmmmm <3 Despite never really being able to meet his dad aside from as an infant, he looks up to him so much and respects him and wants to be like him, and I’m sure that’s all Penelope’s doing <333 the wife and husband ever, actually. they invented heterosexuality and true love
-GOD GAMES!!!!!!! While I’ve seen plenty of understandable criticisms, like it being too short or fast-paced, I think jay did the absolutely best he possibly could with it!! It’s so fun and gives us such a good glimpse into the thoughts and priorities of all of the gods and ATHENA!!! WHAT A QUEEN!!! UNMASKED WITTY AND QUEEN OF THE BEST STRATEGIES WE’VE SEEN FRRRRR!!! Also I’m fuckin obsessed with ares’s voice it sounds so coollllll AND ZEUS’S GROWL BROOOO it’s so impressive I wish I could do that. I’m also gonna have the way they say Aphrodite and hera in my head forever I owe them my life
- I know jay talked about it in a short, but I actually really enjoyed the differing perspective!!! Don’t get me wrong I miss my boy ody and I’d love to know more details about his situation but I’m so incredibly happy we got an Athena pov I have so much more appreciation for her she might be my favorite character now
- I’ll never get over all of the unique character motifs and just how unique they sound. Like how Circe and calypso sound so similar yet so incredibly different, just like their stories!!! Jay you legend
Ok that’s all for now back to listening on repeat

Quick Question: Why are there so many people who describe gods as "feminists"?
I remember myself writing last month at 2AM while drunk (romanians are just built different) an entire Bible about why Athena being labeled either as a Feminist or a Misogynist is wrong in both cases and that because we're talking here about a figure that was firstly mentioned hundreds of years ago when people had a completely different mentality than ours and blah blah blah. Yes, I'm the idiot who brought back the "Ovid is a faniction writer meme", but I'll let you beat the shit out of me later.
But I've discovered how a lot of greek gods are suddenly labeled as "feminists". And my genuine question is... how?
Ares: Many people claim that he was the protector of women and that he never raped any woman in his entire life just because he murdered his daughter's rapist. People forget the fact that just because there are few to no surviving written works in which he rapes women that doesn’t mean that he didn't do that at all; there are already two discovered myths in which he rapes a woman disguised as a shepard despite the fact that she was one of Artemis's huntress and one in which he sleeps with another woman in secret, respectively. Also, aside from his mother, lovers and daughters he doesn't protect any other woman that isn't close to him from being raped.
Apollo: Many people consider that just because he was a certified bisexual who deeply loved his mother and twin sister (and saved both of them from being raped in different myth versions) that makes him a feminist as well. Wrong: he raped Chione in her sleep and Dryone in the form of a snake.
Hermes: Hermes raped Chione in her sleep and Apemosyne after slipping on skinned hides that he placed on her path.
Dionysus: He raped Aura while she was drunk and Nicaea while she was unconscious. Also, people often forget that his own cult itself is the main reason why he cannot be a Feminist in the first place, and that because his priestesses usually had to get drunk during the festivals and rituals dedicated to him, which made them completely vulnerable to any man who wanted to take advantage of them.
Hades: On one hand, he lets his wife rule over the Underworld and have just as much authority as him. On the other hand, he still kidnapped her and then forced her to eat those pomegranate seeds. And because it's very uncertain wheter or not he actually raped her in Homeric Hymn to Demeter, some people may argue that the pomegranate seeds are supposed to symbolize his seed, and by extension him forcing Persephone to eat them is a metaphor for him forcing himself on her.
What is next: Telling me that Zeus was a feminist as well?
Now, I know that Greek Mythology is completely messed up and the desire to either change or erase some myths is justified. Also, it's really hard for a person who feels deeply connected to a certain deity to recognize that the respective deity has done some things that by modern standards would be considered immoral and/or completely disturbing. But that isn't an excuse for not admitting that yes, [Name] has done some horrible shit just like any other deity from the Pantheon. Save for Hestia, we all love her and she must be protected at all cost.
Now, I have absolutely no problem with your headcanons about the greek gods or depicting them in a better light in your fanfictions, comics, fanarts etc. etc.
However, claiming that your headcanons or retellings are mythologically accurate is a problem.

This episode.
First I need to talk about Henren and how I am absolutely heartbroken over them having endure more loss in their family. Like they are the best damn parents, stop taking their children away. And having all of those cases twisted on Hen like that as ammunition and evidence to take Mara away from her. Diabolical. Just a gut punch, I cried so hard.
There is so much about Bobby that I don’t even think I can get into it all. But I was so worried about him, I AM so worried about him. The beginning of the episode feeling like a goodbye, to him having to save Athena, and then having a heart attack. The emotional whiplash of it all. I’m so afraid to learn anything more about how that fire got started. The guilt this man has carried, and continued to carry without leaning on his wife for support. Still bottling it all up until it was too late. Just heart wrenching, and I feel for Athena, it is so hard to watch your significant other struggle like that and not know what to do but to just love them and hope it’s enough.
Buck, getting the chance to cook for the team from Bobby. He was so happy about it, so proud. And his moment with Bobby after shift was so sweet, they have come so far. He is going to be so gutted if anything happens to Bobby. That’s his dad.
And then Buck running into Kim like that, oh my god. And immediately going to Eddie’s to figure out what the hell he just saw and figure out what was going on (despite whatever his plans were for the evening). That kitchen scene was so great, they are so vulnerable with each other, so patient and understanding. Buck using the back door to be considerate of anyone else in the house because he knows how crazy and fucked up it all is. But he’s so calm and gentle with Eddie about the whole thing.
Which leads me to Eddie. My guy, you have come so far, but you are still so delusional. Shannon was not the love of your life, she was your first love. And there is a difference. Kim is insane for coming back to pretend to be Shannon to try to give you closure without all of the context, because Eddie you omitted a few key details in your retelling of your relationship’s history. And to get so wrapped up in this fantasy to allow yourself this weird moment of skewed catharsis and have Christopher walk in (with your girlfriend, which where were they without you?) and witness this woman in your life who confusingly looks like his DEAD mother. How painful for him. That kid has been through enough, and I can’t fathom how he will view you going forward and I am so scared for that. It’s so twisted. How do you explain any of this to your son? How?
I can’t stop thinking about it. 7x09, I wish you were longer.

aphrodite’s anger
“You have angered Aphrodite,” the Goddess Athena stated, lips pressed into a thin line as she stared at the subject of her patronage, Remus, who was scribbling away ardently on a piece of parchment at the rickety wooden desk by the slit-sized window.
He looked up with a furrowed brow, then squinted slightly as the sunlight shining through the slit hit his eyes. “How?”
Athena shot him a withering look. “I don’t know how to make this more overt. You are Remus Lupin. You are brilliantly sharp-witted and daring. You should therefore be living life to its fullest, taking courageous risks, making wild discoveries… and yet, you insist on cooping yourself up inside this shambolic shack, doing absolutely nothing. I only remain your patron in the hope that you somehow unlock your potential.”
Remus blinked. “Um. Sorry. Thank you, Goddess. But… how does this affect the Goddess Aphrodite?”
If possible, Athena looked even more annoyed. “Aphrodite does not understand why I stick with you. She has seen you rejecting adventure, never utilising your power, and, worst of all, seen you turn down love. She’s furious.”
“Oh.” Remus paused. “When did I ever turn down love?”
Athena looked like she was combusting out of frustration. She gritted her teeth. “I have helped you all I can. It is not my fault you are oblivious.” With that, she disappeared, leaving Remus to his old, derelict hut.
He wasn’t alone for long though, because only a few seconds later, the fisherman from the other side of the island swung the door open, calling, “Come out for a stroll, my love!”
Remus rolled his eyes. “For the last time, Sirius, I am not your love.”
Sirius mock-pouted. “Fine. But it’s not healthy to just stay in here all day! Come down to the coast, Remus.”
“I’ll pass.”
Sirius frowned. “What’s wrong?”
“…Nothing? Don’t I always turn you down?”
Sirius shrugged. “Yes. But usually you only look slightly pathetic, still convinced that you’re happy to live vicariously through your imaginary stories,” he explained, gesturing to the scrolls strewn across Remus’s shack. Remus frowned, but before he could defend himself, Sirius cut him off, “Now, you look like you’ve completely given up, even on your stories.”
Remus realised the truth to this observation, and he squinted at Sirius, not because of the sunlight, but because Sirius was confusing and strange and… different. A good different. A different which made Remus want to explore it, except Remus wasn’t an explorer, no matter how much Athena insisted he was. Really, he didn’t know why the Goddess still stuck with him. Or why Sirius did, still barging into his hut every evening without fail.
Finally, he admitted, “No point in writing anymore.” He shrugged in the most careless manner he could muster. “The Goddess Aphrodite is angry with me.”
He glanced up at Sirius, whose face had immediately fallen. In fact, Sirius had completely deflated, no longer looking animated and cheerful, just lost, like he’d been punched in the gut.
Quickly, Remus added, “Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s all fine. I’m fine.”
Then Sirius broke out of his frozen state, and threw himself at Remus, gripping him by the shoulders, shaking him, hugging him, vociferating, “No, this is not fine! She could kill you! Turn you into a monster! Drive you to insanity! Remus!” Remus listlessly nodded, and Sirius sighed, slumping into Remus. “I’d still love you, though. Even if you were dead, a monster, or insane. You’re already insane.”
Remus laughed at this, gently pushing Sirius off. It was a thoughtful joke. No one could really love someone like him. He was already dead: he was barely living his life. He was already a monster: every full moon since childhood, he turned into a wolf, not that Sirius knew that. And he was already insane, yes. His mind was a mess, churning with incongruous thoughts, forever spiralling and multiplying.
He looked thoughtfully at Sirius, out of his window, at his scrolls. He decided, fuck it, I’m going to die anyway, “Could I borrow a boat from you?”
Sirius raised his eyebrows, before his face split into a beautiful beam. “Come with me, my love.”
Again, Remus rolled his eyes, but this time, he actually followed the skipping Sirius out of the hut, as he frolicked like a dog through the woods, along his well-trodden path between the coast and Remus’s shack.
Remus meandered after him much more slowly, taking in the smell of the scenery. Pine, smoke, fresh grass, soil… he hadn’t been outside in so, so long, and it really showed. He had simply locked himself up in his small wooden lodge, and stayed there, even through the full moon. Ashamedly, the only food he ever ate was the fish Sirius sometimes brought up to share, when he sacrificed his time to sit cross-legged with Remus on the stained floorboards and talk about meaningless musings. Maybe even more ashamedly, those times were Remus’s most treasured.
He made it down to the coast, where Sirius was waiting, with a huge, handsome masterpiece of a boat behind him. Its prow was a tall, regal wolf, which simultaneously terrified Remus because that couldn’t be a coincidence or maybe it could, but also made him gape in awe, because it was undeniably majestic. Who ever saw a wolf in that way? Sirius just grinned at him. “She’s been waiting for you so long, dude.”
Remus blinked. Sirius looked down at his feet and bashfully hesitated, “I— I built her while I was thinking of you, just a few months ago. I didn’t think you’d ever sail her— but, now, maybe, you… could? If you wanted. There are other boats—”
Remus pressed a finger to Sirius’s lips. To silence him, but also because he just wanted to get closer. “Sirius. I love it. Thank you. I wish I could give you something this amazing too.”
If possible, Sirius grinned at him even more than before. He burst out, “Let me come with you.”
Remus frowned. “What?”
“I want to go with you. On your journey. It can be your gift to me.”
“No, coming with me won’t be a gift. I— I’m going because… either way, I’m going to die. I might as well live a little first. But if you come with me, you’ll surely die too.”
Sirius shrugged. “What if I want to live a little with you?”
“I don’t want you to die.”
“I don’t want you to die. But everyone’s going to die at some point. So let me live with you for as long as you have left.”
“I— I want to live with you too,” Remus confessed softly, to both himself and Sirius. “But it doesn’t matter. I won’t let you come.”
Sirius’s eyes flashed. “I won’t let you go without me.”
“And how will you manage that?”
“I built the boat. I know her better than you do. Don’t think I won’t be able to sneak on.”
“I’ll kick you off.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because,” and Sirius sighed, shaking his head slightly, looking up at Remus with a soft gaze, his previous temper melting. “Be safe, Remus.”
With that, he walked away, and Remus felt his chest ache, longing to reach out and pull Sirius back. But it was okay. He could now set off on his travels in solitude, like the lone wolf that he literally was. He clambered onto the boat, and realised he had no clue how to actually sail.
However, Athena was his patron for a reason, and he quickly got the hang of things. He figured out that he could untie the fabric neatly twisted around the central pole through the middle of the boat, and that it unravelled into perfectly square sheets which billowed in the direction of the wind. The boat was then propelled by the invisible force, and when the force changed direction, he could also rotate the mast so that the sails changed in the same direction.
When there was no wind, he realised how useful the oars were, and expeditiously learnt that this way meant he would go forward, this way meant he would turn left, this way meant right. He ended up in the middle of the still, open ocean, feeling incredibly accomplished. Aphrodite, he thought, I wouldn’t mind if you killed me now.
Remus stood in the middle of the deck for quite some time, arms outstretched on either side of his body as the wind blew through him, ruffling his hair and filling his nose with a pinch of salty air. He closed his eyes, relaxed, letting himself feel, without the constant pressure of thoughts.
It didn’t last long though. Because at the noise of a door banging open, his eyes immediately flew open too. Right in front of him, from a small hatch in the floorboards, three fishermen stepped out, and Remus stepped back.
“Sirius,” he stated dumbly.
Sirius grinned. “Nice to see you too, Remus. This here’s James.” He pointed to the fisherman beside him, who shared his dark hair and height, but was wildly different from him in all other aspects. While Sirius’s eyes were a metallic grey, sparkling near-white in the light, James’s were a dark brown, so dark that Remus couldn’t see what was within them. James’s hair was a bird’s nest, and Sirius’s hair was a waterfall. Sirius’s skin was pale, James’s skin was brown.
But then James smiled, “Hi,” and Remus saw it match Sirius’s mischief almost identically. This was going to be trouble. Ignoring the trouble, he turned to the other boy, raising an eyebrow.
The short, plump fisherman just hesitantly smiled at him, and Remus deemed that he was probably more sensible than the other two, but equally clueless.
“That’s Peter,” Sirius pointed. He added, “Are you going to say anything?”
Remus simultaneously wanted to remain in unresponsive silence forever, and yell his head off at Sirius. Compromising, he turned around, and said, “Get off.”
“No,” Sirius sang. “You’re stuck with us.” He paused, adding more solemnly, “We’re just here to help.”
Remus’s shoulders slumped, and he turned around in a way that he was still pointedly not looking at Sirius, but at the other two. “And you both are here because…?”
James smirked, eyeing Sirius, before saying, “We’ve heard so much about you, it’s like we know you personally. Basically, we’re already friends.”
Remus considered this, quickly realising, “You’re the two best friends Sirius is always on about!”
James muttered, “Not in the same way he’s always on about you,” while Peter smiled, asking, “So… we’re already your friends too?”
Choosing to ignore James’s nonsensical comment, he addressed Peter, shaking his head and deciding, “Yes.” Yes, they were indeed his friends.
Sirius clapped his hands together. “That was heart-warming,” he declared, juxtaposing his statement by glaring at James, for presumably more nonsensical reasons. “Anyway, we are on a mission. Onwards! I think the next island is in a couple twenty miles.”
Remus threw his head back in frustration, before turning to face Sirius, who was already glaring at him with daggers that dared, “Fight me and you’ll lose.”
“Fine,” Remus spat. “Stay and die.”
“Thank you,” Sirius spat back.
Giving up, Remus walked to the trapdoor and disappeared below deck.
“He means well,” Remus heard a voice say, maybe twenty minutes later.
He turned from one of the mattresses to see James, nearing him with an amiable smile.
Remus snorted. “To who? Himself? No, he’s going to get himself killed. To you and Peter? No, he’s put you both in danger too.”
James shrugged. “He’d never let any of us die. And he means well to you.” James then looked at Remus very intensely, and Remus’s gaze skittered across the cabin, unable to handle it. Finally, James spoke, “He loves you.”
Remus just turned around on his mattress and tried to sleep. He couldn’t. But soon, sleep didn’t matter, as the boat began to rock violently, and Remus’s mattress full-on slid to the other side of the cabin. He shot up, and hurried to the top deck, where… there was nothing. In fact, the boat was still, empty, completely silent. But before he could question everyone’s disappearance, he saw it.
The most beautiful… creature he had ever seen. He was immediately enamoured with its long, scaly body, rising up over his head as it opened its lovely jaws, which were really so mesmerising. Its roar was mellifluous. Its eyes were so yellow and shiny. The creature made him feel so calm, peaceful, and he stepped closer and closer—
“NO!” The ferocious cry cut through Remus’s thoughts. His head jerked to the side abruptly, trying to locate its source as he deliriously concluded that actually the thing that made that cry had the most mellifluous voice in the world… so magical…
The beast roared again. No, that was the prettiest—
“LEAVE HIM!” No, that was the prettiest—
Roar! No, that was the prettiest—
“YOU VILE, REPUGNANT MONSTER!” A series of grunts, accompanied by the slashing of a sword. Remus shook his head, eyes landing on Sirius as he lunged at a giant serpent, which hissing at him, poised to kill him…
Remus didn’t know what to do. Well, there was one thing. He’d never done it before. It required a very strong emotion. And Remus didn’t do strong emotions. Only, he did, he just bottled them up and pretended they didn’t exist. But, looking at Sirius, he felt it churning within him, bursting from the seams of his skin as it exploded, erupted, surged out from the depths of his heart. Love.
Yes, okay, kill him for it — he was irrevocably in love with Sirius. Happy? The wolf within him was happy, at least. He let it grip onto the powerful emotion, let it overcome him, let himself transform, forcefully, willingly, in the light of a crescent moon. Before he was fully transformed, still with a grasp on his consciousness, he leapt onto the serpent, to ensure that it was the thing he would attack.
And attack it he did. They tore at each other, roaring, howling, ripping off chunks of flesh — no worse than what Remus did to himself, really, locked up in a tiny shack. Soon the wolf realised the serpent’s weakness: every time a claw swiped near one of its eyes, it would flinch, blink rapidly, reel backward. And so, the wolf quickly pierced its two bulbous eyes with a flash of claws, and suddenly, the serpent collapsed, and both of them tumbled into the sea.
Remus transformed back as he broke the surface, broken, defeated, with viscous yellow pus coating his hands, and blood dribbling from the cuts all over his chest, swirling in the dark blue water. He didn’t have the energy to swim back up. And he wasn’t sure he wanted to, anyway. Sirius had seen him as a wolf. As soon as he emerged, he’d be slaughtered. And he wouldn’t let the man he loved get any blood on his sweet, innocent hands.
But apparently, he didn’t have a choice in the matter. Because arms were wrapping around him, pulling him up to the surface, and as soon as they reached air, he heard two desperate inhales. One was his own. The other was… Sirius.
Sirius stared at him, breathing heavily into his face, and Remus knew he was doing the exact same. Their arms were wrapped around each other, and they were impossibly close, and Sirius looked relieved, not disgusted.
“So,” Remus caught his breath. “I— I’m a werewolf.”
Sirius released a breathy laugh, gesturing to the prow piece. “I know.”
“What? And you still… did all this?”
Sirius nodded, eyes sparkling, a small, shy smile on his face.
Remus blinked, squeezing Sirius to make sure he was real, which caused Sirius’s smile to grow less shy, more wide. “But— but you called that monster,” and Remus pointed below, “vile, and—”
“Shh,” Sirius whispered, breathing into his mouth, and Remus immediately shut up. “You’re not a monster. I distinctly remember being concerned that Aphrodite would turn you into a monster. Why would I be worried about that if I thought you were one already?”
“Oh.” Remus paused. “Well, your concerns were erroneous. I think Aphrodite’s punishment was to enchant me with a monster.”
Sirius grimaced. “Don’t tell me you were in love with that thing.”
Remus shook his head. “I broke the enchantment.”
“Uh… how?”
Remus sucked in a breath. “Well, real love usually has the power to overcome fake infatuations.”
“Oh? So, who are you really in love with, then? Hmm,” Sirius teasingly pondered.
Remus tightened his hold on Sirius. “You know who.”
“I’d like to hear you say it.”
“Fine.” Remus stuck his chin up defiantly. “I’m in love with you. Happy?”
“Very,” Sirius responded, immediately crushing his lips into Remus’s.
Although Remus broke away when he felt a presence looming over them. Sirius looked dazed for a moment, before his eyes also landed on the Goddess hovering over them.
“Aphrodite,” Remus acknowledged wearily.
She simply grinned devilishly. “Finally.” And then, she grumbled, “And I suppose Athena was right about you. Daring, smart, worthy of her patronage. I thought you might let the beast kill you all. But no, Athena was right. Damn you, now I’ve lost a bet. Although I believe I’m winning the bet on Marlene and Dorcas…” With that, she disappeared.
Remus blinked, before bursting into laughter.
From above, on the deck of the boat, James and Peter looked down at them. “Should we haul them up yet?” Peter asked.
“First I have to check something,” James responded. He dramatically cupped his hands around his mouth, and yelled, “HAVE YOU TWO SNOGGED YET?!”
Remus smirked. “Not yet.” And then he captured Sirius’s mouth in his own, and they snogged senselessly.
- - -
Back on the deck of the ship, Remus sighed and said, “Well, I suppose I should return to my writing.”
All three heads whipped around to face him incredulously.
“Excuse me?” Peter burst out, while the others seemed too speechless.
Remus frowned. “What?”
“You must keep adventuring!” James eventually cried.
“Remus.” Sirius stated gravely. “You don’t need to write stories anymore. You’re living the stories. With us.”

Maurauders Era Characters if they were Demigods (with explanations) pt.2
find part 1 (the main 4, Lily, Mary, Marlene) here and then pt 3 here
Christopher (ATYD):
I'm not sure but its giving... minor god with interests in education. not athena. someone other than athena. Honestly? I wanna say Iris. Iris is a minor goddess, but important in symbolism. Chris has a lot of feelings of.. insecurity, and while its not necessarily a trait Iris has, a lot of "minor" demigods sometimes have that issue. Also rainbow... insert gay joke here
Severus Snape:
ok i know this may just be my thirst for symbolism but if he was a son of poseidon it would be so cool especially since I had Lily as a daughter of Athena (and Athena and Poseidon are constantly at odds). Poseidon was known for his intense jealousy-- "better than Zeus!" but not by much. And he can really wreck your ships if he's unhappy with you.
Regulus Black:
Okay I know I said Sirius was a son of Aphrodite. And I know this is going to sound... odd. But. given that this is headcannon and they only need to share 1 parent, I'm actually going to say Athena. This kid is a child of thought. He was a major turning point in the war. This would also explain some of the times he and Sirius butt heads, because of the difference in the way they think. Regulus lays low and changes the course of the war with one move.
Arthur Weasley:
... something something, im honestly. not sure. Athena, perhaps, because of his absolute thirst for knowledge about his special interest (that being muggles) so much so that he hoards the objects and stays in a job that does not pay him nearly enough because he gets to mess with them all day
Gilderoy Lockhart:
oh. this one is tough. I consulted people and they said Hermes. I think we can see why but its so odd to say that when I also said James and Peter were Hermes kids. Hermes just has HELLA range. Lockhart is clever enough to act dumb. That sounds like a Hermes thing to do.
Pandora Lovegood:
I wanna say Iris, goddess of the rainbow, for the aesthetic. But something in my heart says Hephaestus. She was so curious and dedicated to her experiments. I feel like it's "unexpected" but she doesn't really listen to other's judgements and kinda does her own thing. Like making magical experiments. It's great.
Grant Chapman:
this man is the sun, his father is apollo. theres no discussion about it hes just like that. If I wanted to give reasons, he's got this motivation (eventually) to make the world a less s**tty place, he loves music, also in the future he fosters children with his life partner and that seems like an extremely Apollo thing to do (considering he's the protector of young boys and men)
