there’s few things that are more disappointing than when you finish a really good book, go online to find fandom content and there’s maybe 3 fanart pieces, a dozen fics and the most of the posts are from three years ago when the fandom was actually active.

Stormlight Archive brain mush. SPOILER THOUGHTS.

Sylphrena has storms in her eyes.

She's the Ancient Daughter. The only spren created by the Stormfather. So precious and unique, the Honorspren felt justified imprisoning her rather than allowing her to endanger herself. And when her father dies, she feels it, AND THERE ARE STORMS IN HER EYES.

Then she and Kaladin together were able to create a new TRUE honorblade??? Made of Honor??? After Taravangian took on the Honor Shard and became Retribution and threatened all of the spren???

Syl had her own arc coming to see herself as more separate from Kaladin, as independent with a destiny of her own. She's cosigned this new evolution with Kal, but it feels like she's got another independent evolution happening.

I believe entirely that something was passed to her in that moment when the Stormfather died. Maybe that independent part of Honor that infused his Avatar? Maybe something bigger that Taravangian can never reclaim with the Oathpact reforged?

Cannot wait to see her 10 years down the road.

anyways, just some thoughts to go with some things i did

"I can't believe Szeth got married and has a wife in the 6 years post Wind and Truth" yeah I get it Masha's a surprise to everyone but also consider

you're a historian living in a time of upheaval. You're specifically a scholar on the Recreance. 18* years earlier there was a civil war in your country and the past 2 years the next desolation you've all been aware of has begun again. The Honorbearers are kind of being weird currently and you're pretty sure it's the end of the world. You move back into your parents farm in an isolated area near the Bondsmith's monastery. You hear stories of other farms being attacked and are worried but are trying to help your older parents, continue your studies (hey the past isn't going to reveal an unbiased truth by itself), and not worry about how current events parallel past ones and times of political strife and all.

You decide to sleep in one morning. When you go get breakfast, your parents mention that your cart and two horses were borrowed by some nice young men early in the morning. You make conversation- hoping that your mom won't mention that one was just your age (seriously mom?) and seemed nice- and somewhere in the conversation it's brought up that the "nice young men" were the Assassin in White, now on a pilgrimage, and the former high-marshal of the Windrunners, and that Nin-son-God was also with them, but he was sitting with a blanket around his shoulders looking sad and you're trying to get your parents to back up hang on they lent your cart and horses to the guy who started that civil war 16 years ago, one of the first radiants of the current generation, and a herald??

And then a few hours later you hear a knock at your front door, and it's the assassin in white the guy who started a civil war in your country at 19* and he's now missing an arm and wow that scarring does not look good and he asks if someone could help him bury his friend and glories above you have written at least two papers on this guy and he looks like he is about to cry on your doorstep and you have several questions you want to ask about the accuracy of reports from the civil war that happened and if the radiants have better records of the infighting that happened before the Recreance than most scholars do and also all the various murders but that would be a bad thing to ask now, right?

The current leadership in your country are apparently all dead, and have been for a while it seems. Szeth's decided, once he's recovered from almost dying, that he'll do what he can to help in Shinovar, along with living for himself and being his own law. And you're a historian, who has just entered into a new era of history. You start to help and slowly get to know him. To hear about the quest for Wind and Truth.

*I might be getting the year wrong. I think it's 16 or 18. Szeth was 19 or 21, I think.

The timeline after the hero of time is split into three

And we know for sure that twilight is related to time

But because sheik x link x Malon is a ship that the fandom has quite a bit of content for and people theorized that legend is a part of the royal family

Let’s add him as well as related to time lol (and by extension as related to sky)

Why..

Because it would be very cursed and therefore hilarious (two kids from different timelines that the parents happily share together)

Because that makes any interaction with lullaby and Malon very cursed

Malon was understanding off timeline differences and after finding out about her children / descendants

She was happy to let legend be part of her family(he was absolutely not crying about it at all when she said he was welcome any day)

lullaby was insisting that legend can stay if he wants

Because his life sounds like a crime she has to fix

Because any member of the royal family would be accepted as a heir

Then proceeds to straight up make it official no matter how many laws of nature it breaks (she already broke enough of those so what’s a few more…)

Twilight was also happy to have lots of parental figures

And wind was considered as adoption bait for a while because they wanted the full set of the hero of time successors

And then also dragged along only not officially adopted because he had warriors who very much wanted to stay parent lol

The entire trio is just so casual about their secret kids that apparently came out of nowhere but are actually genuinely real

Lullaby: “yeah this is My son and I was totally hiding him .. but no longer with it now he is officially part of the royal family.. no time travel or anything”

Malon: “and I also have a son he also was totally being hidden as well… they’re both our sons …. No other reason you haven’t seen them like ever””

Talon : “I really don’t know how that happened but I guess I have grandchildren now”

Time was just chilling as it went down and was relishing in the chaos that the public brought

He was born to be cryptic his entire existence was based around it

He is a fairy child at heart lol

How do you feel about your blorbo getting married? My aroace headcanons have gone down the drain

Oh my aroace headcanons are still alive and well. Aroace people can and do get married. I have a lot of thoughts that I’m trying to work out, but here’s what I have so far

First, I think Szeth is solidly sex neutral ace. It’s never his preferred expression of closeness and intimacy, but he’s willing to do it from time to time. He definitely prefers things like hugs, meaningful conversation, and sharing dances though

Second, the way his feelings and thoughts toward Kaladin change over only ten days has convinced me of demiromantic Szeth. It would take time for him to build up to that kind of deep, abiding connection and emotional closeness, but he could get there, especially as he continues to heal, rediscover himself, and grow

Third, I really like that it’s mentioned that the in world KOWT was written/published six years after the events of WaT. That gives demiromantic Szeth plenty of time to get to a place where something like marriage might make sense or feel right to him. It gives plenty of time for a meaningful relationship to form between him and his wife. I’m currently imagining that the wedding happened very shortly before the final edit/publication of the text, so it was like a five and a half year slowburn leading up to it. I’d be a lot more skeptical if it was revealed that the marriage happened within the first year, but since we only know that it happened, that longer timeframe feels most likely to me

I definitely was not expecting this at all, and it did come out of nowhere, but I’m pretty sure I can come up with things that make it feel right for Szeth’s character and the ways his journey might continue after the end of WaT. I’m planning to work out a whole fic/series of fics exploring this, really digging into it, and helping me (and maybe you and other people) grasp the situation

Tl.Dr: in my head, Szeth is sex neutral ace and demiromantic, got married like five and a half years after the events of WaT, and there was an entire slowburn leading up to him being ready for and wanting to get married

She feels absolutely awful about it! She realizes she wasn't at fault for what happened, but she did make it worse for everyone involved. And so uh she's quite scared.
