why does the dance of fire and ice dlc have banger character designs? in a game about circles going around each other?

Note
I went to replay Pokémon Scarlet from the start because my brother went and got the DLC, and I finally managed to fully evolve my team. It's not competitively ideal due to being my adventuring team, but it's balanced. More or less. So, how would Kakashi and Gai fare against my current team if facing it without a level difference, considering I'm one of these trainers who likes baiting opponents into using attacks that won't hit the switch-in as hard? (Like, if I open the battle with Quaquaval and I suspect the opponent knows Electric attacks, I call it back and send out Garchomp. If I notice the opponent might know Ice-type attacks and Garchomp can't one-shot it before getting hit, I call it back and send out Lucario. If I notice the opponent might know Earth-type attacks, I call it back and send out Jumpluff. The team doesn't have a defined ace, meaning that I'll switch based on the situation.)
Quaquaval (Torrent): Low Sweep, Aqua Step, Aqua Jet, Liquidation Jumpluff (Leaf Guard): Bullet Seed, Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Giga Drain Raichu (Static): Nuzzle, Thunderbolt, Charm, Nasty Plot Lucario (Inner Focus): Swords Dance, Force Palm, Metal Claw, Aura Sphere Arcanine (Intimidate): Play Rough, Flamethrower, Extreme Speed, Bite Garchomp (Sand Veil): Slash, Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Crunch
So the way that i play the characters would be that their pokemon have diverse elemental pools
For example Gai’s Electabuzz has fighting type and electric type moves, while his Torterra has dark, ground and grass type moves
Kakashi is similar in that his Pokemon would have a diverse move
Kakashi given that he’s a tactical trainer (very aware of what his opponent is doing, always adjusting his plan) would pick up on the bait and switch after the first time and start using moves that might not be expected while continuously switching it up (Rather than just using one move continuously) so it would be hard to pull the bait and switch on him.
Gai on the other hand might stick it out with the stubborn style of fighting using what works best with his Pokemon, but he’d also be pulling out surprise moves (like he def has an electabuzz with egg moves like fire punch and ice punch) when it’s least expected. So if you expected his electabuzz to use an electric type and switched to garchomp it’s very possible you’d be hit with an Ice punch instead of that electric type move

Fire Emblem Engage Review and Thoughts
Fire Emblem Engage is legitimately my comfort game I don't think any other game has helped my mental health improve as much as this game. The amount of negativity I've seen surrounding Tears of the Kingdom made my mental health and sanity deteriorate to the point where I lost a friend. Engage is the only thing keeping me somewhat sane, genuinely my favorite game of all time thanks to how impactful it has been to me. I wanted to write a piece about this game because of how much I appreciate what it has done for me.
The story is simple and not the best thing ever, but its still the most fun I've had with a story before and its serious moments really hit for me. I quite honestly do not think this game's final battle will ever be topped for me because of how much fun it had with itself, especially with that absolute masterpiece of a song. The characters also are really simple but man do they really help the story hit. I don't think I loved a cast as much as this game's because of how funny they are, especially Pandreo and Amber. Alear is an excellent protagonist as well because of their growth throughout the story. They start off extremely cowardly when they just wake up to courageous but still somewhat scared but willing to do whatever it takes for the safety of the world and its people.
The music in this game is genuinely incredible... and very cheesy (which is a great thing). Whenever I feel horrible, I listen to Emblem, Engage! and all my worries go away. The map themes are also really, really good as well such as the Solm one and Tear Streaked (Ice). This game's soundtrack absolutely lived up to the expectations set from Three Houses and Three Hopes to me.
The gameplay is definitely a vast improvement over Three Houses' which I still enjoyed. Bringing back the weapon triangle helped give the game more of a challenge and strategy. The addition of the Break mechanic also makes following the weapon triangle more important, however you can't break armored units (unless magic does that). Also bosses no longer feel like a slog to take down like they did in Three Houses. Emblems also add fun gimmicks to battles, such as Warp Ragnarok with Celica and Goddess Dance with Byleth.
Speaking of gameplay, the Somniel is fine. Its far from bad, especially after all the quality of life improvements added post-launch for free alongside the DLC updates, but it definitely gets repetitive after a while. The lack of New Game+ also hurts replayability for this game for me, but I heard that wasn't really a thing with earlier FE games so its not a big deal. Also the bonds between characters and emblems are extremely short for whatever reason, two lines for C and B bonds and four lines for A bonds.
Overall, Fire Emblem Engage is my favorite game of all time and the most important game to me. I love this game to death despite my few issues with it (because to be fair, every game ever has flaws). This game has been a massive help to my mental health and to that, I say thank you Intelligent Systems for this wonderful, silly game.

Indigo Disk E4 (plus Champion), their Trials and Party Members
I was hoping to help people as I didn't have any real help during the DLC, so I wrote a rough list of each of the Indigo Disk's Elite Four and their teams, trials and whatever moves I was made aware of during my battle with them. So here it is below. Be warned, this is unbelievably long as I also make notes at certain points for tips and help
Chrispin, the fourth and lowest member of the Elite Four:
Trial before battle; make a super spicy sandwich (as written by game08 below)
Onion Chili Sauce Jalapeno Chorizo Mustard
After the trial and onto the battle under here;
Party Members: Talonflame (uses sunny day, perfect for WW and Hydro Steam and also uses Brave Bird too, so no Ogerpon during the beginning), Fire-type Rotom, Exeggutor, Camerupt, Magmortar, Blaziken (Teras into a fire type, speed boost, focus blast and a real ass tbh)
Best Pokemon here would be, at least from my experience, Walking Wake (if you have it, that is, I don't know of any good replacement for WW if you don't have him. Maybe Azumarill?) and Garchomp (Ground Tera type and Adamant nature: Bulldoze (or Earthquake), Sword Dance, Rock Tomb, and Dragon Claw) alongside maybe Water type (Wellspring mask) Ogrepon.
AN: I say maybe Earthquake as it will also hurt your second party member you throw out unless they're a flying type, so that's why I mentioned Bulldoze instead as a less strong alternative making sure you do accidentally KO your own Pokemon in the process.
-------------------
Drayton, the dragon-type elite four is the second rank under Kieran.
Trial: Use no Pokemon that weren't from the Terariaum or weren't caught from you (like Pokemon from other games for example) and fight three people. From my experience, have a Duraludon and an Abomasnow. Both are at level 80-86-ish for being able to beat this easily.
AN: Abomnasnow (Lax nature with Ice Punch, Blizzard and Sheer cold) should hold Leftovers and use Ingrain every time you enter a battle to slowly regain health and then take it from there whilst the Duraludon I used has a Quiet Nature and has: Dragon Claw, Flash Cannon, Metal Busrt and Breaking Swipe. I hope this has helped a little, and if the Pokemon you catch don't have those above natures you could either use a mint or just hope it doesn't play any part in the battle :p
Party members: Dragonite, Flygon, Kingdra, Haxorus (focus sash, earthquake), Sceptile, Archaludon (dragon-tera type)
AN: Zacian is perfect for most, if not all of these people with small bits of tinkering, obviously. But Zacian is literally unstoppable.
--------------------
Amaryas: the steel type elite four (she is fucking weiiierdd…. like real weird.)
Her trial: Fly through rings on your mount around the terrarium and there are Magnemite ones that add more time to your counter. Get to the goal in time and you succeed.
Her party members; Skarmory (rocky helmet, stealth rock), Alolan Digglett (focus sash and earthquake), Scizor (bullet punch), Runiclus (leftovers, protect), Empoleon, Metagross (steel tera type, headbutt, hard press)
(AN: Be very careful when going against her Metagross, it knows Hard Press, a move that could more than definitely OHKO and likely could since it does the most damage with full health. And if you aren't fortunate and or weak to it? She'll likely sweep you clean. I used my Zacian (Adamant Nature, Crowned: Sword Dance, Sacred Sword, Behemoth Blade and Crunch) and my Slither Wing against her (Adamant nature: Superpower, Leech Life, Low Sweep and Bulk Up) for the most part before having to eventually bring out Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon to take over due to Cranberry fainting who helped ease through Metagross and Runiclus while Zacian handles Empoleon and some of the others.)
------------------------
Lacey, the fairy type elite four, and the third strongest:
Her trial: A Pokemon quiz!
What part of the body does Pikachu store electricity in? Answer: cheeks. Pikachu stores the electricity in their cheeks.
What part does Venonat's body act as a radar? Answer: The eyes. Its eyes are like radars!
Which Sinistea is an antique and not a phony? Answer: the middle one, the middle has a mark of authenticity on the bottom when it spins around.
Which minior is the pink one? Answer: the one on the middle-ish bottom right-hand side of the screen.
Which part of Granbull does Lacey use as a pillow? Answer: the tummy/stomach area.
Team/party members: Granbull, Whimsicott (focus sash, light screen), Slowbro (quick draw, tailwind, flamethrower, sitrus berry), Primarina, Alcremie (alluring voice, leftovers) Excadrill (fairy tera type, high horsepower)
(long AN: Again Zacian comes in helpful here, while i'd also recommend also having a Tinkaton with you to help try and sweep her, while trying to take as little damage as possible. (Tinkaton, Naive nature with Steel Tera type: Gigaton hammer, Metal claw, Draining kiss and Sword dance) whilst Zacian has an Adamant nature like earlier with fairy type: Behemoth blade, sword dance, metal claw and play rough in case. She does use her Excadrill as mentioned before and I recommend having something that can be strong against fairy but not faint to ground as I was lucky enough to have high friendship with both and they dodged it and was able to KO the ground type. Or you could give Tinkaton a Focus sash in case it does hit and be left with one HP while Zacian still holds the Rusted sword
---------------
Champion Kieran:
His team: Dragonite, Politoed, Incineroar, Grimmsnarl holds a Focus Sash, Porygon-z, Hydrapple (Teras his Hydrapple to become a fighting type; an Iron Valiant or Zacian does wonders with his team is used right)
AN: I literally had no business beating his ass with two Fairy types but succeed. Iron Valiant (Adamant Nature, Fairy Tera type: Moonblast, Sword Dance, Spirit Break and Drain Punch) with my Zacian now mainly running Fairy and fighting over steel instead. (Adamant nature, Fairy tera type: Sword dance, Sacred sword, and Play Rough with Poison Jab)
And unfortunately, your Pokemon don't get ribbons or anything of the sort from winning so a major bummer, but whatever I guess. Plus, Kieran has no right to walk about with Pokemon who literally get for the most part OHKO'd, seriously. It makes you wonder what the others who fought him were using to get him to such a high ground or grandeur to think he was unstoppable.
#help#guide#i know this is a bit late but to those who don't want to accidentally run into spoilers#here you go#i hope i helped a little. and you have any more to add you're than welcome to add#ashestoshadows#pokemon violet#nintendo#pokemon#scarvio#indigo disk#long post#very long post

VANNI’S PALDEAN ADVENTURE: CONCLUSION 💖
After many months of toil (and procrastinating and distractions) I’ve made it through the main story of Pokemon Violet and I wanna show how my babies have grown. (long post warning sorry)
Here’s Isla Dawn, my sort of wild card spot. I picked her up pretty late in my journey which is why she has the 6th spot. She was my compromise of between something defensive and something I thought was cute… and honestly she struggled and still does now in post game. Most she does is set up a screen then get two shot by super effective moves. But she’s pretty and took me a week to get.
ScalieArthur (Arthur for short) is my baby, hatched from an egg. Raising him from lvl 1 while also trying to EV train him in HP (because I was desperate for some bulk on anyone) was genuinely worth it, but changing his terra type to normal was not. Genuinely don’t remember my reasoning, I just like the big ass gem head. But he was a late game powerhouse I really liked using (mainly from the ice typing)
Miss Roberta, one of many name changes. And a special place in my heart as my first shiny in Violet. She never disappointed me in battle, but of all of my team, I gave her the least amount of battle time out of fear she would just get bulldozed.. but she never actually did. Every battle she came out, she dominated. Didn’t give her enough credit, really.
Jellyway… an interesting case. Youll see the OT is Jeff. Jellyway was a surprise gift from my boyfriend, but came at a sad time when I had already had a Clodsire leveled up pretty high (Puddingway, for those who remember.) Jellyway was always the highest leveled on the team and was definitely one of the more frequently used on the team (Ground types are just sadly very useful despite me not liking them much.) But Jellyway was a pleasure to have and you cannot go wrong with toxic spikes!
My sleepy buddy Ardbert, I would die for him. I put in so much work making his terratype fairy and all that work just made me love him even more. I really got in my head when I would terraform him like “oh my opponent definitely thinks this is just a fire tera… but they’re WRONG!” It was also a makeshift way to get a fairy type because theyre just so good, ugh.
And finally, we have the star- Sylvando! Another victim of a name change (once named Riqardo, Sylvando was just way better with how much I like DQXI) he still was my true powerhouse. But unlike Roberta, I put Sylvando through the ringer and he paid the price. He was absolutely the team member who got taken down the most. But he was also the one who dominated the hardest. He was the one who took down Nemona all those times, defeated Geeta's ace, and finished off the true final boss- all in one fell swoop. But he was defeated by Clavell's Meowscarada and Arven's Mabosstiff. Using Sylvando was like a dance, when things go right and all we hit all our moves, it feels like the best feeling in the world, but even one misstep can send us tumbling off the stage like fools.
can't wait to see what's in store for me and my babies in the post game and DLC! And what new friends we'll make along the way.

My 2022
I see a lot of people writing posts or threads about things they did in 2022. I don't usually do this sort of thing for a few reasons. One is that I'm aware that it can be a bit pretentious and a bit frustrating for others to read if they had a really bad year. For that reason, consider this a soft content warning for "yet another post reflecting on 2022." The other reason is that I don't think I've accomplished anything worth reflecting about, and am quite disappointed in myself and my 2022!
But...maybe that self-conscious feeling is exactly why I should force myself to write this.
A few things I accomplished in 2022:
I wrote some stuff
I put up the final chapter of my Sonic fanfic [although not the epilogue yet, sorry readers!] titled "Have You Heard From Sonic Lately?" Of all things I did this year, this is probably one of the things I'm most proud of? I think I'm decent at writing these characters and I like playing in this world in a mostly-canonical way, following guidelines painted by the games, the IDW comics, and ironically now Sonic Prime.
I put up Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of Soul Symphony: Abandoned Encore. SS:AE is prose sequel story to my 2010-2015 webcomic Soul Symphony. These characters and this story mean a lot to me, but I left them behind as relics as 2015. I decided that the year of my 10-year high school reunion would be a fitting time to look back on these characters.
Side note: The comments I receive on Ao3 are so nice??? They're so heartwarming, they make my day. Something about someone enjoying my writing is 100x more satisfying than someone enjoying a drawing I did, and the way people express their feedback is really meaningful. I wanna cry every time. Thank you to everyone who has read my stuff.
I put out two meaty pieces: a review of Cam Marshall's comic "Matchmaker", and my year-end reflection titled "I Forgot How To Climb The Mountain."
I've wrote a few mini blog posts scattered across Cohost, Tumblr, and Patreon, which you can find in the #blogofkylelab tag.
Behind the scenes, I've continued my work as a Writer working on Rhythm Doctor as part of 7th Beat Games.
Art and Game Dev
I...barely drew anything, so that was kind of a disappointment. But the few things I did draw I mostly liked! The very little time/energy I have for drawing these past few years is always a tough pill to swallow, but I'm glad that when I DO make time for it, it is still pretty fun.
I've continued working on Rhythm Doctor and A Dance of Fire and Ice as a part of 7th Beat Games. We put out some cool collab levels.
I helped launch ADOFAI's paid DLC expansion, Neo Cosmos! Directed by TaroNuke, it's a really cool expansion with its own identity and I love the new mechanics and focus on character/narrative.
I worked on Squeak N' Seek, a short gamejam project we made as a birthday present for Giacomo, the Lead Programmer at 7th Beat Games.
Other Stuff
I've been running @IndieGamesOfCohost for a few months now! Shares of indie game posts on Cohost, posts spotlighting new releases of lesser-known titles, and a series of Indie Interviews with fellow gamedevs. This has been very satisfying for me, and I hope I can keep the momentum going in 2023.
I'm forcing myself to write these things down to convince myself that I accomplished something, because for the past few years I haven't been able to shake the feeling that "I haven't accomplished anything." I miss the days where I drew quite often, especially between 2015 and 2018, and I made illustrations that I still cherish to this day. I feel like a "shell" of my younger self still, which is a ridiculous thing to say. Someday, I'll find my way back to a place where I'm satisfied with my output.
I hope your 2022 was bearable! Let's all work together in the new year.

uh stark trek and a dance of fire and ice. If we go by the dlc it just means that space gods will just screw around with the crew of whatever ship the adventures follow. but this time it's a rhythm game so business as usual, i guess.

A Note On... Dancing to Fire and Ice
A Dance of Fire and Ice is a rhythm game by 7th Beat Games!
I love rhythm games and ADOFAI is one of the smoothest games out there. The music might not be everyone's taste, but each one is a bop.
The tracks have a clear increasing level of difficulty and the bonus worlds and DLC provide a great challenge. The gimmicks in each level are bearable at worst and fun at best. I found the white out in one of the bonus world levels to be both challenging and fun!
I'm not super familiar with the workshop levels, but it seems to be going strong as the devs just pushed out an update for their level editor (along with some featured levels).
Can't wait to play the studio's other game, Rhythm Doctor!
As always,
Enjoy gaming!

so geometry dash has been getting weekly artist reveals for different folks being added to the music library and as a geometry dash fan of varying capacity over the past years and now getting into more "true" rhythm games seeing frums being one of the artists in the library is like hohohohoho yes
it's a shame the one frums song i'm Really Obsessed With right now is tied to a dance of fire and ice bc of it being specifically made for the dlc but i'm sure robtop will eventually get to doing crossovers with other rhythm games... maybe we could even get a GD-X in adofai for geometrical dominator lol (i doubt tho)

Since way more people than I expected have responded to this, I'm gonna ramble/flex about it
And I'm gonna put it all under a break because it's gonna get long and I haven't had the chance to nerd out about this game to anyone since I didn't think anyone else had played it and I've put way way way way way way too much time into it lol
The tier list ranking of the classes is as follows (in the base full moon mode, accounting for Red Hood Diaries DLC cards, ordered by how much I like them):
S Tier
Apothecary: Weak starting deck, but can get really fun with the various potions and throwing new funky equipment. A bit of a rough start, but if you get it rolling, then you can make some real rollin' (especially if you get the Selected Recipes card from the DLC....ESPECIALLY especially if you also get Annihilation, because that combo is so fun) Also a girl wearing red throwing potions as her main form of offense? I'm biased.
Mechanic: My favorite of the three Action-based classes. I very much like how it holds multiple different archetypical mechanics (heh) that all synergize well with one another between Mechanical Explosives, Exhausted, exiling enemy cards, fun with frailty, mid-battle upgrading, and the lame one.
A Tier
Werewolf: You can play as a boy in this game? What kinda forced diversity is this??? My runs with this archetype always ends with me either trying to pop off with the Rage mechanic or snatching Paranoia and making every enemy fear me (because even though it only affects 3 cards, god those cards can do a lot. Hey Wolf Roar how you doin). Between those and also some fun with exiling attack cards, you can have a super fun time (even if you can't fight Forest Guardian. Very cringe)
Soul Hunter: Honestly, I think this is the weirdest class in the game, and I mean that in a nice kind of way. The judgement mechanic, life-spending cards, and the siphon mechanic can work together really well to make for some VERY VERY fun outcomes if you can stretch a battle out long enough (Death Comes can get absolutely BONKERS). The flaws come in at the fact that while you completely wall any enemies that run on mana, siphoning doesn't do much against anyone else. You're gonna end up doing a weird dance between managing your own health like it's mana, which is very odd, but also very fun.
B Tier
Witch: Hey, finally have one of the four free classes! Witch can be pretty tough when you first start out since she is incredibly squishy, but once you get ahold of the right cards or blessings, it becomes a walk in the park (especially with DLC which lands you the Hurricane Staff). Witch has easily the most game-breaking blessings in the game, between Ice Flame Bonfire (which not only freezes enemies, but gives you additional fire damage....which stacks per turn) and Absolute Zero (which just lets you skip your opponent's turns. It's stupid busted if you have enough frost spells on you. I love it.)
Knight: The first class in the game! Now, there are two ways you can play as Lady Knight. Either you can do an equipment build, or you can play Lady Knight incorrectly. As someone who loves those kinda Passive ability builds (Power/Orb Defect in Slay the Spire my absolute beloved), I'm definitely not complaining. I'm sure there's other ways you CAN play Lady Knight (like, uhhhhhh armor? or just Hitting Them So Hard Over And Over?) but come on. Let's be honest with ourselves. Equipment Build Knight is the best.
C Tier
Ranger: I've never done well with the "death by a thousand cuts" type characters in these kinds of games (I'm the same way with Thief from Dicey Dungeons), so my overall disdain doesn't shock me too much. I do grant that the most notable archetype for this is "For The Love Of God Just Keep Drawing Can't Stop Won't Stop Drawing Forever Until The End Of Time" which can be fun if you can set it up right, but I find that to be very difficult. In my opinion, Ranger is saved by the Red Hood Diaries DLC, since it adds a couple new mechanics, between expanding on the usefulness of Gold (which I've only used in the Diaries game mode, so I can't say how I feel about it in the main game yet) and Archaeology, which, as a lover of chaos, I have no choice but to respect and love.
Magician: I'm really conflicted about Magician. On one hand, I am a Bastard and therefore, nothing brings me greater joy than seeing my opponent's hand fill with Prank Cards and in the event that they can play a card, one of my 72 Counter Cards in play flip over, revealing that I had 1 Resonance and 71 Chain Gangs. But not only is getting to the point where an opponent's deck is mostly pranks a journey that takes a long time, when you have the whole counterset ready, what do you really do? Yeah, you've got em all triggered.....now what? You just kinda throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then use all your mana reducing cards and find a way to reduce Poker Dart's cost to zero!! Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your Poker Dart. Then throw your-
F Tier
Nun: No.
Okay to be somewhat charitable to Nun, she's got Confession, but other than that, yeah, no.
Anyways there's my take on Night of the Full Moon's playable classes. I consider myself qualified to speak on this since I have defeated both the game AND the Forest Guardian Bonus Boss with every class on Nightmare mode, and for fun I've been trying something I call the "Nightmarathon" where I play through every class on Nightmare mode back to back only resetting if I lose to the same enemy three times in a row (to allow at least some leniency). I am also thinking about trying other hardcore self-imposed challenges, where I can't use the "try again" feature the game provides you (which is where most of the usual leniency comes from)
For those who have played this as much as me, feel free to discuss your rankings and tell me why I'm wrong, and if you haven't, then I recommend trying it out. It's free on the Android/iOS store along with Steam. And while I do love the base game, it does do the DLC thing, but for a price tag of about $25 for Literally Everything Else, and considering you get three additional game modes (with VERY different playstyles) and the highest ranked classes on this tier list, it's worth it if you ask me.
I need to know out of curiosity, but does anyone else play Night of the Full Moon?
