First off, I just want to recognize the AMAZING work everyone did. I absolutely adore all of your mango mews/twos! Before I announce the winners, please take a moment to give all the love to these fabulous people and their art!

This piece is by @vanessa-the-mewtwo! I love how you changed the horns into leaves, it’s such a cool idea! The colors are awesome too, the details of the spots on the tail and the fade into red at the tip just really add to the piece. Amazing work!

This one is by @definitely-not-a-mew! Ok, this is ADORABLE. TOE BEANS!!!! I LOVE THE TOE BEANS!! The colors are outstanding, I love how you have some many different shades of orange and red throughout the body, it looks super cool!

This adorable mew is by @ghost1289! I love how you went with the more red colors, it looks so cool and powerful! The energy ball is AWESOME AS WELL!! The mix of colors in it, with the black on the inside and the oranges and reds on the outside just makes it pop. Plus, having the tail be a leaf? Super cool!

This adorable ‘two is by @haycoat! First of all, that little bow is so cute oh my god. And the little smile on its face?! AAAAAA!!!! I love how you started with orange for the body, and then slowly faded down to a red-orange for the legs. And then having the yellow of the tail interrupt the orange color scheme? It’s such a good idea!

I am speechless. This is gorgeous!!!! The detail of the vines/leaves starting from the second neck and then slowly winding their way down to wrap around the tail is absolutely stunning. The pastel colors of the body just gives it a really gorgeous color palette!!!! And the name Sabine is so cute omg 😭 Bravo 👏

Indica is by @mushroom-for-art! Out of everyone who entered, you’re the one of the only ones who named their mew/two and I LOVE IT!! I swear Indica is so cute and happy and adorable- I JUST WANT TO HUG THEMMMM. I love how you incorporated the leaves not just in one place, but the whole body! Two leaves for the tail, a bit on their second next, and one the top of their head! Plus, the flowers for ears?!! Amazing!!!!!

This piece is by @ricksoo! Ok, I love the stance you put this guy in. They look read to go! And that little tuft of leaves on their head gives off STRONG anime protagonist vibes, I love it!! The colors look so yummy, out of all the art this is the one I just wanna *nom*

This beautiful mew is by @mini-frau! Oh my god, this mew looks like a god!!! The colors are stripes are of course gorgeous, but the way the fur seems to flick around like fire gives it this ethereal vibe that I absolutely adore!! Truly gorgeous job!!!!

And last but absolutely not least, we have this freaking ADORABLE mango mew by @kwispyhamburger! Oh my god oh my god this is so cute what?!!?! The little leaves around it’s neck like a scarf are ADORABLE!!! And that one little leaf on its tail is just so cool for some reason, I’ve no idea why but I love it! And those sunset colors- this is a mango mew if I’ve ever seen one.

Just like a promise I made my version Monster High characters Gaia Online edition part 2

1. Abbey Bominable

I have two things in mind that I want for Abbey's design.

Snow and Fluff

I found Abominable Cutie items for fur, arms, face and little horns. her hair and clothing colors its mostly white with pink and baby blue details.

I have this headcannon that yetis uses white clothes as camouflauge. Once that Abbey enrolls at Monster High she starts adding more colours in her outfits

I added snowflake hair pin. A snow googles who act as glasses and fanny pack (tribute to MH Live Action)

2. Spectra Vondergeist

For Spectra I thought added indigo and blue in her color scheme instead just purple and black

I found this cute black veil with purple skulls, blue dress, and indigo sandals give impression of floating, black and blue bag and lock hairpin

I keep her iconic chains, her hair and gossiping nature

3. Operetta

For Operetta. I decided keep her original hairstyle buts its black and red ombre hair

While searching scars or deformity items for idea. I came across @cherryfemm post about Operetta's shouldn't wear a mask. And she is right because that whole MH premise its embrace their freak flaws. And I thought why not keep half mask and covers her perfect face. So keeps her dad iconic mask and delivers the message: you shouldn't be shame about your scars and/or deformity

What I love about Operetta is she doesn't care about her deformity. She's not insecure or shame about her appearance.

Also I give her semi-translucent skin so that keep her status as phantom

Her outfit is simple top white and black shirt, red shorts with suspenders, black and white shoes, golden spider earrings and of course her guitar

4 Toralei Stripe

Its combination of G1 and G3 Toralei. A torned black jacket with kitty face printed shirt, pink black and white stripes pants, black and pink boots heeled, and guitar

Headcanon: There's rumor that Toralei's guitar strings are made of her werecats enemies back her criminal days. In reality catguts are not made from cat intestines.

5. Robecca Steam

As for Robecca I didn't do drastic changes to G1 Robecca. I just made her hair little shorter, give her gloves, brown and gold belt and blue and golden boots.

Also I found skin mod to give her shiny robotic skin

6. Venus McFlytrap

As for Venus. I give her blue and pink hair instead green and pink. Pink and black shirt and shorts. a missing pink stocking, mismatched sneakers and black gloves useful for picking up garbage

Still rockin and saving the earth

Oh added green vines and leafy thing in her head

7. Rochelle Goyle

As for Rochelle. I decided more softer pink and lilac color palette. I give her granite skin tone and I found this dress that fits Rochelle's aesthetic.

Its quite expensive but good thing I been saving alot all these years of playing Gaia Online

Added jewelry for her head, black stockings and boots. Lastly this amazing horns and wings the tail was included and I have no idea how to remove tail

Ik this isnt part of the ask game, but would you consider showing us how you outline in Trello?? It looks so freaking effective!

I have been waiting for someone to ask me this question. thank you so so so so much you’re going to regret asking lmao

so as I said before I use Trello - a free cloud based project management tool - to outline and write my fics (and also for my to do list and my Christmas present shopping and vacation planning and literally everything) because, to be 100% honest with you, I have no chill. I have never been relaxed about anything. ever. not a single day in my life. and therefore I marinate on fic ideas in my mind for months (sometimes years!) before I start doing anything with them. this is my process I use for everything I write and we’re using Mar[r]y Me as my example!

the first thing is the idea. I get an idea and I word vomit vibes into the closest thing (notes app, google doc, scribbling into my work notebook, texting a friend) and then I marinate on the idea. I first had the idea for Mar[r]y Me on January 25, 2023. it went through several iterations as I shaped what it was going to be and below is what I sent to Jordan in June 2023 and it’s the basis for the story we’ve all been following. (or mostly, it’s changed quite a bit since then.)

once I’m ready to start writing I create a board in Trello. think of a board like a white board, you then add “cards” which I think of as sticky notes except with a lot more features. also my process is the same no matter if it’s a one shot or a multi chapter fic, it just depends if it gets its own board or it goes into my one shot board. (which is filled with ideas waiting to be written lol) anyway. this is the Mar[r]y Me board!

for a multi chapter fic like this each chapter gets a card in the IN PROGRESS list (they move to the right as things get written/posted). each card follows a template: title, due date (loosely assigned to get an idea of what a posting schedule may look like), a label (always being with need to plan), and a checklist. also the chapter outline - obviously.

before I get into the outline, I use the labels as a nice visual representation of what the status of everything is. as the screenshot below shows, the each writing stage has its own color (and I use the color blind color schemes so I get the fun patterns too!) and it gets changed as we go along. it helps me know at a quick glance where everything is at the moment.

I also love the checklist feature, see below. which basically has all the steps I need to follow once I have a chapter written and ready for final editing. it may seem like overkill but I work long hours and you’d be amazed at how easily my brain forgets things lmao. so this ensures nothing is missed when I’m getting ready to post.

now onto the outline. my outline goes from something super basic, to a few bullet points, to an in depth summary of what’s going to be written. using chapter one as an example of this progression.

1. this is the og outline for the whole story. just a dream and a vibe and one sentence. literally.

2. the expanded outline for chapter one

3. just a small section of the final outline I used to write the chapter. a lot of my final outline ends up being actual sentences that I use in the final draft, I basically write the chapter in bullet points and unfinished sentences.

4. I use the very expanded outline to write the actual chapter. following along bullet point by bullet point. an example from chapter 9 since that’s what I’m writing rn.

5. once everything is written, all the bullet points have been used up or ignored, I transfer it into google docs and read it to myself, editing as I go. once I’m happy with my final rough draft I use grammarly to idiot check things because I’m an engineer not an English major. then I start using the checklist (teaser posting, creating tumblr post, etc.) and then the worst part. I walk around my home office and I read the entire chapter out loud to myself and make final edits as I go. is it excruciating to have to listen to myself speak the flirting I’ve just written out loud? yes. have I made myself cry multiple times? yes. do I find a lot of rough spots and smooth them out? yes. that’s usually done on Thursday nights.

6. from there it’s all final editing and formatting and scheduling the final post. I also have to create the accompanying recipe post for Mar[r]y Me so I do that too. and we post on Fridays! sometimes I share the google doc link with friends so they get an advanced copy of the chapter and sometimes they get to be surprised with everyone else (I’m running behind schedule and don’t have time to share it lmao)

it’s a lot of work for something I’m producing for free but I genuinely love it so much and it helps me keep everything straight. there would be so many lost ideas and abandoned thoughts if I didn’t do it this way. it’s crazy that this the first fic I’ve ever written and that I’ll probably be close to 90k words by the time it’s finished.

if you’ve made it this far thank you for indulging my very intense brain and it’s processes. I love the community we’ve created here on this blog and I’m so excited to keep writing and sharing. and I especially want to give a big thank you to my very good friends Ames, Alexa, and Jordan. Mar[r]y Me would not be the story it is without them and I can’t thank you enough for your love and encouragement during this story.

3. favorite horror film in your favorite subgenre: my favorite subgenre is probably slashers and my favorite slasher is a toss up between Jason Takes Manhattan and Slumber Party Massacre 2 (both are super fun and silly and don't take themselves seriously at all, they're loads of fun).

7. Favorite horror film from this decade: Easily Lisa Frankenstein, I could talk about how much I love it and why (and I have in the past) forever, it's so freaking cute and funny and just amazing. Everybody watch it and don't be a prude about it lol

10. Favorite horror franchise: FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH. It's been my favorite since I was a kid, Jason is my homeboy

Alrighty, these are my boys!

Let's do Ironwood first for the new ask game

1: sexuality headcanon

I headcanon Ironwood to be bisexual with a preference for men.

2: otp

Ironqrow for life. They are just so great as a ship, with all the 'mutual pining, not actually unrequited they're just both idiots, bickering divored-couple-energy that still allows for the spark of new love, the matching color scheme they had in their first looks, the way they look at each other, the freaking hug! It's an amazing ship.

3: brotp

Ironwood and Winter. A lot of people ship them and I can see why, but even though I've long headcanoned them to be the same age, in my head they're just very close friends, close to brother and sister, which makes him accidentally want to favor Weiss and Whitley when he knows them. XD

4: notp

Ironwood and Robyn. Blegh.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head

James uses the training facility at Atlas Academy sometimes and will indulge students that want to spar with him. He's always careful and takes things easy on them, and always lets them get in hits to build their self-confidence.

6: favorite line from this character

"You have two choices: Defend your kingdom and your school, or save yourselves. ...No one will fault you if you leave."

This line is so very James at his best, aggggh! Because it starts out professional and stern, not exactly harsh but more blunt, and then the students all give each other these worried anxious looks, and he softens so clearly in his tone and tells them no one is gonna think less of them, that it isn't their job or their duty or morally right to endanger themselves, and that if they make the choice to leave they can. These kids are seventeen, this might be one of the only times in the first seven seasons that anybody told these kids it's okay to prioritize their own lives.

7: one way in which I relate to this character

I am also kind of socially awkward! Ironwood with his tie adjusting and struggling in conversations and kind of stiff deliveries of things like 'it's good to see you again'... Me too, buddy, I also have no idea how to talk to people. XD

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character

The villain arc, ugh. What a terribly written final arc to have. It's always embarrassing to have to specify that I like Ironwood outside of his stupid badly done rushed villain arc that turned him into a boring two dimensional evil-laughing rando with a giant gun-gun using his two remaining braincells to do pointlessly evil things just to get at teenagers. Like??? Cringe.

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?

Problematic fave. Even at IW's very best, he still was flawed in some fun ways, he could do the wrong thing, he could do the right thing but do it in a way that makes you go 'huh.' (Gonna be honest, although I love cinnamon rolls, they're not half as interesting as problematic faves.) XD Aaaand at Ironwood's worst, he was a pointlessly evil stuck up bastard trying to kill and torture people for very little reason, and not in a fun way.

Now for Qrow

1: sexuality headcanon

I headcanon Qrow as bisexual as well, and I also headcanon him as having only realized he was bisexual as a grown adult (partially because Qrow is one of my faves and I project onto my faves, and I only realized I was bi when I was a grown adult. XD)

2: otp

Ironqrow again. XD This ship is just so good that it's my number one fave for both characters.

3: brotp

Qrow and Ozpin. This is a ship that I could see myself enjoying, but what I enjoy even more is them as close friends, with Qrow looking to Oz for guidance and as an authority figure and then the roles reverse when Ozpin gets put into a teenage body and suddenly Qrow is the guide in charge.

4: notp

Funnily enough, this one is also Robyn. Qrow and Robyn started being a ship when she caused a fight and then partially due to her actions, the queercoded Clover was brutally murdered, and then Clover and Qrow spent an entire season doing next to nothing but talking to each other despite their relationship mattering less than any other relationship Qrow had that could've gotten developed, and Robyn compared her problems with her active truth-telling semblance to Qrow's "I hurt everyone around me" problems caused by the passive semblance that makes his life harder despite him not doing anything, and then she was like "don't be sad that your actions helped the Salem worshipper brutally murder your friend, he was probably secretly evil and bad and you're better than that despite the fact that I've known you for like a day." Like, their relationship is nothing but angering for me. XD

5: first headcanon that pops into my head

I have this headcanon that Qrow doesn't realize it, but his bad luck semblance tends to react to large emotions he has. He still absolutely can't control it, but when he's calm and casual and cool, his semblance affects him and the world around him a bit less, and when he's really angry or really sad or even really happy his semblance kicks up and sometimes does really big things like cause unexpected rainstorms and make the electricity in buildings go out and stuff like that.

6: favorite line from this character

Raven: "They were your family." Qrow: "You have a very skewed perception of that word." Maybe it's just because this line fits into my headcanons, but I love it because Qrow's past easily lends itself to him having been abused by the people in the Branwen Camp, and then acquired a found family in Team STRQ and Ozpin, and now he has Yang and Ruby and he was involved in picking up the pieces when Raven left and then again when Summer died, which was probably devastating for him. I also just like Qrow's quippy nature and I like that at least someone was calling out Raven on her BS.

7: one way in which I relate to this character

Despite the fact that I've projected onto Qrow, we actually don't have very many similarities. But I'd say that although it's not nearly to the point of Qrow's own issues, I also struggle with feeling like a burden to the people around me and too much of a mess to deal with. I like writing for Qrow partially because it's a good way to explore those feelings.

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character

"The size of the waitress's skirt length" Ulgh, gag me with a spoon. The at the time all male writers and one with a particularly bad past regarding misogyny on a show concepted by a guy who likes animating a seventeen year old woman character's boobs to bounce around to a jeering laughing cheering crowd... Yeah, no thanks. I much prefer writing my version of Qrow to flirt a lot but know where the line is and not do things like talk about how hot he finds miniskirts on service workers to his two underage nieces.

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?

Problematic fave for sure. Even at his best, Qrow is a rough-around-the-ages spy with shady connections blindly following a leader and not seeing much wrong with getting kids involved who also picks fights with people and is drowning in his own emotional problems in ways that have negative effects on the people around him. But Qrow also (especially in the third and in the eighth season) like it or not also suffers from the problems of the writers, whether that's never giving a damn about inequality, objectifying service workers in a funny story to his underage nieces, seeming weak willed and hypocritical due to the writer's misuse or retconnings or making him go along with whatever Ruby says after Argus, or actively aiding a servant of Salem in volume seven and losing all his braincells in the process so the writers can force it to happen. Either way, Qrow is very problematic, in some fun and interesting ways and some not so fun ways.

Thoughts at 2pm...

This is really a thoughts on cartography/GIS post...

W and I have been talking about GIS a lot lately. Mostly she’s been talking, and I’ve been listening lolol. Her head is full of thoughts, of ideas, of critiques, of insight and questions, and I freaking love it.

One thing that has been a big topic has been “what makes a good map?” We’ve gone back and forth about this, and it seems a simple question but for cartographers like her and I, it’s like opening a can of worms!

We see so many maps that are just ugly as fuck, deficient in information, or just make no sense. They’re bad at all levels of communication, from bad content to bad display.

And ultimately that is what we have decided makes a good map... does it communicate something?

GIS makes it so easy to just “put stickers on a basemap.” You no longer have to draw, you no longer need to have a steady hand and artistic skills to draw the coastlines, the ridges, the mountain ranges, shade the deserts, and add the roads and pathways. Nope, you just load a basemap, throw on some pre-created layers, and add some points and voila... map.

With a good understanding of cartographic principles and graphic design, you can make such a gorgeous map... but is it really a good map?

Did you do any analysis? Did you do any thinking? Did you put in any effort besides picking a font for the title, and the color scheme? Does it communicate anything?

With this lens, we’ve been looking more and more at other peoples maps, and more importantly at our own. Did we have to manipulate the data at all to analyze something either statistically, or does the presentation educate and explain something beyond just WHERE something is. Are we communicating something or are we just making static art?

Simply saying something is HERE is fine... saying it with a lot of pretty colors and shading is fine... but why should anyone care beyond “ooh... pretty!”

She’s really risen up to the challenge, especially with Novembers 30 day map challenge. She’s not just doing pretty shading and stickers on basemap projects, but starting with a question and trying to answer it spatially and doing it in a way that is also really beautiful to look at.

She has done such a great job too! Her topics, ideas, and presentations are amazing and she has grown so much since she got her diploma!

Can I make a headcannon request for Licorice Cookie with a super supportive s/o? Basically, s/o finds all the stuff he sewed, including the Werehound Brute’s princess dress, and Licorice is just dying of embarrassment but then s/o is just like “EXCUSE ME, this is not a dress, this is ART.” and starts gushing about how good his work is, and what else can he make, and he should make more stuff, and… babe, are you crying?

As Halloween approaches, you were wondering what Licorice could be up to, considering all the time he spends sewing stuff.

So one night you visit his workshop and don't find him there, which is strange but you figured he was making "evil plans" elsewhere. While the sign on the door clearly says only he and his servants can enter, you thought he wouldn't mind if you took a peek.

And you found so many amazing clothes, in black, purple, white, and gray color schemes. You were astonished at how talented your boyfriend was.

The most impressive thing, however, was a large puffy princess dress on a mannequin made of sugar cubes. It seemed to resemble Brute, but you were focused more on the dress and all its details, being so mesmerized you didn't notice the door creaking open.

"Huh? Who left this door open?!"

You hear Licorice and when you see him enter, he immediately freaks out. Full panic mode.

"Wh-What are you doing here, s/o?!!!"

"I thought you were working on a Halloween outfit...did you make this all by yourself?" You brush your hand across the dress' sleeve.

At this point, he's redder than strawberry jam as he tries making some excuse, insisting that it's just a "silly dress" and he only made it for a stupid contest he knew he had no chance of winning so it was about as useless as-

But you interrupt him.

"Excuse me? This isn't a dress...this is ART." You insist, with such vigor and encouragement that could rival Madeleine's.

And you go onto compliment all the other clothes you found in his workshop, even his unfinished projects that were just collecting dust. You even proposed several ideas on what else he could make.

But then, you stop when you hear a sniffle and look back to see him....crying?

"D-Do you really mean all of that?" He's sobbing lightly, trying to hide the tears with his sleeves--yet it fails.

Your words have melted the sinister cookie's heart. He loved praise, sure. But to get such genuine compliments about his sewing talent from the person he loves...was something entirely different.

All too often he felt like he had to act as this scary and powerful man...just to get even a sliver of attention from Dark Enchantress. Yet he fails constantly in his plans and just doesn't feel like he's good enough for anyone at all, even you sometimes.

You just smile sweetly and hug him, letting him cry into your shoulder. "I mean every word, my evil darling. You may not have won the crown, but you've won at amazing me."

You can bet he's gonna hang onto those words for the rest of his life.

Once Licorice calms down and apologizes for crying (to which you reassure him it's okay) he takes you to his desk to show you his latest Halloween project. Another robe like his own, but white and with bones imprinted on it.

"I just gotta sew the hood on. But afterwards would you care to um...ah....howdoIsaythiswithoutlookinglikeatotalweirdo-?"

"You need a model? I gotchu."

"!!!!!!"

He blushes again but sighs, trying not to die of embarrassment again.

He already did once today.

his room is very dark. It's lit up by colored LEDs, stuff like that. He also probably has a light-up green glowy lightning bolt taped to his wall. also has like his yaksha mask with glowy accents from like fanmail and stuff. also related to the event request i sent, his door is probably somewhere behind him, otherwise, how would they see the reader entering his room? also only his viewers know this, but behind him, he has a shelf with various items on it. most of the shelf. has plants. it clashes with his personality, but matches with his color scheme. he used to just not sleep (poor baby drank too much monster hehe) but his S/O helps him with it <3 also has all his g-fuel on the shelf. (secretly has one of those froggo hats) tired and cranky 24/7 but still has amazing aim even if he's tired???? trying to fix his bad posture. childe called zhongli a boomer once. xiao just- snapped. who dares to insult his dear brother like that? let's just say... childe didnt last long in the next few rounds... (totally not long because im biased)

has a very aesthetic cozy room. When Xiao, Ganyu, and Zhongli moved in, （she was 12 and xiao was 10 , zhongli was 20 at the time, Ganyu is currently 21 , Xiao is currently 19, Zhongli is currently 29） she took her time, hanging her fairy lights, carefully placing all her comfort plushies on the shelf. She recently placed polaroids of her and her S/O in a heart shape, of course with her S/O's assistance. Helped Zhongli and Xiao decorate their rooms. (Xiao used to have those giant wall stickers yk? yeah he used to have one of spiderman, dont tell anybody) Has a neatly stacked pile of work papers. Just very aesthetic in general. def makes you hot cocoa on bad days. did a stream where her viewers spent her earnings on valentines gifts for you (awwwwww) zhongli was slightly confused when there were like 12 packages at their apartment door.

Zhongli

Very beige and vintage. He just has a lot of shelves. Like a lot lot. He collects teapots, and just interacts with chat while sipping tea. If he's lucky enough to get a donation, he spends it on new tea sets or tea that his chat chooses. But the tea set choosing has rules!! Rule 1 is no NSFW (if nsfw teacups even exist), Rule 2 is no Gore(if that even exists), and rule 3 is has to fit the budget. He also has a wishlist of tea sets he wants to get, and his viewers can donate to help him get the tea sets on his wishlist. Is very grateful for every donation he gets. Has fairy lights and a lot of different types of tea on the shelves. Also has a lot of books on the shelves. idk what else to write other than he collects tea sets and also tea.

Anon!!! AAA ur going to be in for such a treat because i will unapologetically write a longass essay as to why i frikin love nh. Im not even gonna use read more. You'll have to scroll thru the entirety of this and im not sorry abt it :^)

Why do i ship naruhina?

Let's start with Naruto. An orphan who grew up with no actual experience of love and family, was forced to fend for himself and yet he still saw the beauty in everything. A guileless kid who never once gave up even if you forced him too. And here we have Hinata. An abused little girl who was pressured into becoming something she wasn't. Even at a young age, she was already carrying the weight of her clan's expectations, receiving her father's harsh words, draining her of her confidence and self-esteem, turning her into the anxious, broken little girl they made her. She had nothing. He had nothing. They both had nothing. Hinata didn't have a single speck of confidence inside of her until she saw her first ray of sun. Her sun that brought her out of the hole she had been sulking in ever since she was little. He helped her push forward, motivated her and supported her until she become the strong kunoichi that she was. I mean, can we talk about how much he hypes her up?? She sought to him as an inspiration, not a goal. Not an obsession, not possession but a harbinger of light that could pull her out of her shell. She wanted to become someone who was worth standing beside him, someone who she can consider as Naruto's equal. Not a burden, not deadweight, not a rival but a partner, a partner who could support him through all else.

While all Naruto wanted out of life was acknowledgement and love, Hinata already accepted him for what he was. With Hinata, he never tried to play the hero, he never placed on this mask or become the strongest shinobi just to be recognized. He never tried. Because he doesn't have to be. Because whatever he'll do, whatever he does, whatever he did, she'll love him. No matter what. Hinata treats him with so much love, kindness, patience and consideration, something he never once had as a kid. When everyone around him berates for even the sillest and dumbest thing, she'll still smile and look at him with so much love in her eyes because she loves and accepts him for who he is. But that' not to say she's "submissive" towards him. She's kept him in line and has been his confidant ever since.

Naruto is Hinata's sun and Hinata is Naruto's anchor. He's brightened up her life more than once and she's always kept him grounded. She's his rock, his pillar. Like can we talk about how much Hinata comforts him?? Throughout the years, she's ALWAYS been there for him. He's always so levelheaded and calm whenever he's around her. And the juxtaposition of their personalities makes it all the more adorable. They complement each other so perfectly that even their freaking color schemes match!!

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THESE SCENES??

This has been in the drafts for too long. I really love the absolute mood switch between Lucifers and Mammons. And just Satans in general ig.

Lucifer

After years of religious trauma at the hands of his father Lucifer finally thought he was free of any connection to the church. Summoning a flaming seraphim at 3 in the morning was not a pleasant way to find out that he was wrong.

As for you, being summoned for the first time in your long long life was an unwelcome surprise. You were a seraphim for heaven's sake. The cream of the crop, highest of the high, and that wasn’t pride speaking only facts. You were crucial to running the celestial realm.

But somehow you’re undeniably tied to his human. You could feel where his soul became intermeshed with your very essence. How wrong it felt to be tied to something so mortal, and delicate, and free.

Any attempts to leave would surely be met with disaster.

So you stay. Lucifer is cold. You can’t blame him. Being there reopens old wounds that he’d rather have remained closed. But just ignoring each other isn’t going to work.

He’s not interested in the celestial realm, and despises any blessing you try and give him, but a fresh cup of coffee during an all-nighter seems to make him brighter than any magic you could do and when you run your hands through his hair he looks at you with more fondness than you can comprehend.

You learn to be more human. He learns to let go of the past.

And one day you find that you don’t want to leave anymore.

For celestial sake that thought should as well be treason! But it’s true.

It’s a spring afternoon and Lucifer plays celestial lullabies on his piano and you want nothing more than for the beautiful night to come so you can sweep him in your arms and remind him how he glows.

You don’t know what is right and what is wrong anymore, but you know that this human is yours and you are his. To rip off your wings would be to find solace in his arms. But you can not give him that. This he knows.

So you promise to protect him, in words he can’t hear but he understands. The spread of your wings shield him from the world and you press blessings to his skin in the shape of the crescents in his back and your lips on his neck. If nothing else you’ll keep him safe. When the world seems too big and the stress of his life gets him down you’ll always be here for him to crawl back to. You can give him that much.

Mammon

That was it

You had to have been assigned the stupidest human in the world

When you were promoted to guardian angel you kinda thought it would be more ‘protecting orphans’ and ‘guiding lost puppies back home’ NOT watching a grown man spend his last paycheck on his eighth Nigerian prince scam

Seriously mammon? Did the prophetic dreams you sent mean nothing? The visions of the future he coincidentally had after hitting his head on a light post, only simple illusions? What more could you try beyond simply marching down their and clocking him on the head yourself?

...unless

Raphael would have your wings if you went to the human world. But that would be a lot less painful that having to watch whatever Mammon was going to do with all the rubber cement he just bought.

The next morning you decide to sneak down. The city was amazing, all colored light and fun machines that whizzed by you on the streets

But you had to stay focused

You were an angel on a mission

You made your way towards central park. Mammon went there every morning to swindle tourists out of their wallets. If you were fast you’d get there before the first patrol office started chasing him.

Spotting the albino you marched straight towards him, readied yourself, and smacked him over the head.

Maybe not very angel-like but it worked.

One introduction later and you're officially a guardian angel

Mammon’s actually pretty nice once you get to know him. Sure he may be a bit too obsessed with lining his pockets but for all his talk he never hesitates to try and help you out.

Consistent affection and care is good for him. He never really knows how to react when you wrap your wings around him but even with his tsundere objections it's obvious he’s pleased.

He’ll take whatever scraps of affection you’ll give him and practically beams at every little gesture you do, no matter how small or insignificant.

You do have to be careful though.

At his request you had attempted to bless him with a bit of luck. An easy enough spell for an angel like you (even if you were 90% sure he planned to go gambling after). Whatever scheming he’s doing immediately stops the moment you cup his face. He seems to freeze when you lean in, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek

You were about to congratulate yourself on a spell well done when you noticed the condition he was in. He was like a living statue, a statue with a very very red face

Before you can ask what was wrong he flails pushing you away and darting off to his room

Any attempts to speak to him the rest of the day were met with incoherent shouting.

It might be best to withhold any magic until you can figure out how humans work

Levi

Once again Levi’s dedication to anime gets him into trouble

It started with his most recent obsession, a new anime that follows a group of angels, produced by the famous company, Dove. The plot, the animation, the soundtrack, all of it was amazing so when they came out with a new limited edition item featuring the very symbol that the main character wore he just had to have it

The moment it came he was setting it up on its own altar, a handmade replica just like in the show only for- Oh no

Before his eyes burst a shining visage of light and then you

You blink in surprise, whether it's from taking a human form for the first time in decades or the strange new room you were in, only you know

The scene may be foreign but the guy quivering on the floor was not

BE NOT AFRAID

Your booming voice echoes around the room

For some reason the guy begins to freak out even more

Didn’t he see your halo? You even told him to not be afraid. Were humans really so strange? :(

Oh well. You hum making your aura as comforting as possible and slowly the guy calms down enough for you to coax him into a seat as you begin to explain.

Which might not have been the best move.

The moment it sunk in he was bombarding you with questions

Yes you were an angel, no you didn’t know what anime was, yes you had wings, no you didn’t have any secret ultimate moves...whatever those were

He ranted and raved over this and that and you let him. He seemed like he needed someone to talk to. It also let you piece together what had happened.

He seemed to be a natural sorcerer, and a powerful one at that if he could someone an angel with no training or even knowledge that he could do magic

Just a few minutes in his presence made his self loathing obvious. Mix in a bit of anxiety and envy and you essentially have Levi in a nutshell

So you decide to stay

What kind of angel would you be if you just left him here? Michael would understand.

Or he wouldn't, it didn’t really matter because you already made up your mind.

Living with Levi is an experience for both of you.

He introduces you to so many new things. He had little boxes that could control light and screens containing actual people to talk to. It was all quite fanciful

In return you act as his friend, encouraging him to go out with you and attending cons with him, even if you still weren't exactly sure what cosplaying is

Slowly he begins to open up for you

He’s still nervous to go out in public, and a complete introvert at heart.

But that was fine. You could both figure out this new world together, at your own pace

Satan

Definitely was not trying to summon a demon to lay havoc on his enemies

Nope, not him he says all while trying to casually kick away vials of mysterious fluids

...Right

You’ve been down to the human world enough to know a demon summoner when you see one

Or in this case a failed summoner

He has no excuse for why he called you and instead seems more insistent that you leave

As much as you you might like to return to the celestial realm, you cannot in good conscience leave a man that you know is going to try and raise hell on earth the moment your gone

So you stay, and it's a good thing you do

This man has anger issues like no other

You thought Raphael was bad this guy is like a demon himself

However he seems willing to try and make the best of what he considers a bad situation

He asks you a lot of questions on the celestial realm

For a guy who knows so much about the devildom he seems to really be lacking on any knowledge on the other celestial beings

He mostly asks you questions on the celestial war, which is a touchy topic at best and downright upsetting at worst

He’s very interested in your opinions as your point of view is very different from his own, what with being a different species and everything

You learn things too, mostly about humans and cats but you suppose its a fair trade

Because of this you become close friends

You really win him over when he finds out your calming aura naturally attracts the stray kittens Satan's been trying to pet for the last few months

It’s not uncommon to head out to late night coffee shops and discuss the merits of different aspects of your lives

But maybe you’ve gotten a bit to close when he starts asking you to revise his summoning notes

Asmo

Apparently a lifetime of partying has prepared Asmo for some very weird discoveries

When you're sent down to the human world you have one job, find and keep an eye on the potentially dangerous summoner who's been in contact with multiple high level demons in the past few days.

Instead you end up meeting Asmo

You were prepared for a fight, not to be tackled into a hug the moment you revealed yourself

Asmo on the other hand is squealing with excitement

Sweetie, he's been waiting for this moment! This is his first time meeting an angel after all

He immediately begins talking about everything he wants to do

You quickly find out that he hasn’t made any pacts...yet, if only because he “couldn’t bear to damage his skin with such an ugly mark”

...Well you suppose that's a reason to not sell your soul

Even thoughts he's aware of the three realms it doesn’t make him any less enamoured with you

He’s never met an angel, he’s quick to mention. He’d love to get to know you, if you get what he means ;)

Are all humans so upfront?

If you decline he still wants to see your true form, even after you explain that no, if you transform you will not just be a beautiful angel with wings but instead a glowing mass of eyes and feathers and angelic light that will probably end up blinding him

Blinded because of your beauty ;) ;) ;)

That said he’s easily satisfied when you just bring out your wings.

He loves fussing with them and decorates them with jewelry and roses whenever you leave them out

He even starts an angel trend on insta after posting a photo as if they were coming from his back instead

Claims your glowing aura is great for his skin

You’re not sure if that’s a pick up line or if he’s serious but he definitely basks in your presence

Loves when you talk about the celestial realm, somewhere he desperately wants to go

I mean it's the only place that's fit for a beauty like him right? But of course he can’t die yet, his fans would be sooo upset

You agree to bring him up there one day, even if that sounds a little morbid

Of course he asks you to become his guardian angel

That may not be your actual job but you can’t resist his puppy dog eyes

You and him go pretty much everywhere together, bar some more xxx rated sites

He introduces you to parties and bars, and while you don’t indulge it's enjoyable to see humans in their natural element. They’re so fun and free spirited just like Asmo

Maybe that's what attracted you to him in the first place

He loves life for what it is, something so admirably human

But you don’t slack off either. You take your role as Official Guardian Angel seriously. You guard his drinks when he goes to the bathroom, and hum celestial lullabies when he’s sad and escort him down dark alleys when walking home. He has nothing to fear with you around.

You’ve become very fond of this human. Perhaps you’ll stick around a bit longer than you planned

Beel

It’s rare to be assigned to a human so...mundane

But that’s exactly what Beel is. He goes to the gym in the mornings, works a nine to five, and comes back home to his dog

He even has a good relationship with this family, do you know how hard that is to find in this day and age???

The only thing even slightly abnormal about this guy is his appetite

He could put a gluttony demon to shame with the way he eats

But the point is you really can’t figure out why you’ve been assigned to him or how your supposed to guide him

Eat a little less? Stop stealing your brother's lunch?

It’s the first time in a long while you’ve been so stumped

So you do what any sane angel would, go down to the human world to meet him yourself

He’s a likeable guy and it’s easy to get close to him, more so do to your angelic status

Although it’s surprising how well he takes the whole angel revelation

To be honest your pretty sure he forgets most of the time

He tends to follow you around, especially at night when he insists on walking you to wherever you need to be. It’s sweet even though there's little that can really harm you in the human realm

You quickly realize that he’s the type to have nightmares, usually calling out for one of his brothers or his sister

It’s become habit to wake up and head to his room

Just being there seems to calm him down

The first time he wakes up when your doing this he ends up asking you to stay

Isn’t shy about sharing the bed either.

He’s easy going so goes along with whatever idea you have

Especially when he starts finding snacks in his bag, each one blessed for a good day or to stay full or whatever little thing you thought of that day

Belphegor

Humans can’t see angels. Not unless they want to be seen, you remind yourself for what must be the tenth time.

But you’re almost certain that guy is looking right at you.

Step to the left, his head follows

To the right, his eyes narrow looking at you like your some puzzle he just hasn’t figured out yet

…this was fine

You turn around pretending to just not see him in hope that he’ll get distracted by something else

...you glance back. Why was he still looking at you? What is with this creep?

Enough is enough.

You march over there ready to ask what his problem is. Instead he beats you to it.

Eh? You’re an angel right? He asks before you can say anything.

???? Shouldn’t he sound more shocked.

The guy just sleepily blinks. He doesn’t look like a sorcerer or a witch, in fact you can’t feel any magic from him at all.

You go to ask only to realize he’s sound asleep. It’s not like you could just leave him here. And at the same time a human who can just see angels is an oddity of itself.

You decide to hang around for a while. Belphegor doesn't mind. He only says something about it being "too troublesome to drive you off," and "you'd look like you'd just come back anyways"

Belphie sticks to you like glue, if glue was absolutely insufferable and seemed to enjoy annoying you at every possible moment

You would think this would be easy. I mean he sleeps all day and when he’s not sleeping he’s napping. Simple enough right? Wrong

When he was awake he was committed to pushing every single button you have

If it seemed like it might inconvenience or annoy you he was already doing it. Trying to smack your halo, pounce on you, or even jump off the roof just to see you scramble to catch him. He was like some terrible terrible cat

Luckily he was never energetic for long. When he wore himself out he’d retreat to the roof of his crappy one bedroom and wait for you to join him

He liked to look at the stars and he’d point them out to you. Orion, Polaris, Sirius, he would mutter, bringing you back to the days when Michael, who was once so fond of you, would sneak you down to the human world just to show you the stars and darkness the celestial realm could not offer

When he finally got tired you would take over reciting Celestial names and marking the sky with your finger just to show him where they’d be.

Those times were pleasant. Even if they were brief.

“I’m gonna jump.”

“Do it.”

“You’re an angel. Aren’t you supposed to stop me before I do something stupid?”

“You won't.”

“Aight. Bet.” Belphie pitches forward and you just manage to catch him by the leg before he falls off the roof.

Brat.

Always ruining a good moment.

You can’t even be mad. The moment you pull him up he’s already resting his fluffy head in your lap waiting for you to pet him.

He may be the most troublesome human in the entire three realms, but he’s your human

Why am I obsessed?: The way of words this author has it's wonderful, it's truly something else. This is a very underrated story and most people should know about this beauty and this author. Her writing style is really deep and I absolutely adore the way she writes Klaroline, their scenes always get stuck in my mind, it's the perfect mix of intense emotions and sweetness. This is an emotional story, but it's precious.

WHITE WINDS BLOW — perfectpro

Summary: Caroline Forbes waits anxiously in the Riverlands to hear of the return of her betrothed, Elijah Mikaelson, from the uprising against the mad King Silas. Instead, a letter arrives from his younger brother, Lord Niklaus, telling her of Elijah's death and offering to uphold the joining of their houses himself. She will become the Lady of Winterfell, but Lord Niklaus, waiting at the heart tree, is a stranger. [One shot]

Why am I obsessed?: I'm trash for GOT au's, and the univese building in this one is exceptional. The narration it's so genuine, I honestly felt like I was watching a show and it was really magical. The way the KC relationship evolves is full of tender, how they slowly built up a bond despite the tragedy it has behind was such a joy to read.

QUIET LIGHT — coveredinthecolors

Summary: Caroline Forbes sets off to the Bahamas with her boyfriend, Elijah, where she'll finally meet his brother for the first time. But as it turns out... she knows Klaus Mikaelson a little too well.

Multi chapter: 1/10 (in progress)

Why am I obsessed?: This is a love triangle between our favorite originals and it's genuinely amazing! By the time I got to the end of the first chapter I was freaking out, and now, the anticipation is consuming me. Plus, Luiza's writing is the most glorious and poetic thing ever and adds so much climax into the story. It's filled with drama and I want all of it!

TOMORROWS THAT FOLLOW — sunnydaisy

Summary: How was she supposed to know that the cute guy she had seen on her morning run was a prince?

That’s what she gets for deleting her Instagram.

Multi chapter: 3/? (In progress)

Why am I obsessed?: Modern royalty fic with prince Klaus and actress Caroline it's everything to me! It's beautifully written and the story is so intriguing and charming. It's super fluffy and it's the perfect one to put a huge smile on your face. Besides, this was the story that made me obsessed with the modern royalty trope. It's so good and brings light to my life.

WAITING FOR YOU — misssophiachase

Summary: Detectives Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes are forced to work together on an organised crime case. Given their growing attraction and close proximity solving a murder is the least of their problems. [One shot]

Why am I obsessed?: The world building here is so good, it's an amazing story and although it's about detective KC it goes beyond that. The importance the author gives to all the chacarcters, how she lets them grow in so many aspects, the details, the dynamics, everything it's sensational. I love this one so much.

PICTURESQUE — supernutellastuff

Summary: She doesn’t talk to Klaus about feelings. Ever. Or at least when she’s sober. Sure, there are times when their friends pass out and the two of them lie on the rooftop, looking at the stars, and talk. Or times when they go to clubs and instead of trying to pick up people they find themselves in a corner spilling their guts amidst the pulsating lights. But alcohol or some other form of intoxication is definitely involved.

Klaroline (with a little Steroline) AU/AH where it's a miracle the gang still have working livers seeing that they spend more time than they should at the bar.

Multi chapter: 7/7 (completed)

Why am I obsessed?: This is a really engaging story and one of my favorites parts it's the dialogues. The pining was there but also some angst that show how an incredible way with words the author has. The chemistry between Klaus and Caroline is so real and it was delightful to get to read all their progress. It is fantastic!

Both in my heart and soul I believe The wolf by Yokan is canon, so these posters are everything I needed to complete that happiness. It's not only an amazing idea but the edits are fantastic! She captured the essence of the story so well and I can't stop staring at them. They are so stunning!

Is this one of the most stunning moodboards I have ever seen? Yes, is it. I adore the black and white aesthetic and the intensity of the pics. It's absolutely and perfectly gorgeous, it's so evocative and the overall atmosphere for the are it's inspired by it's unbelievable.

SHE WILL NEVER FORGET HIM — klavscaroline

This edit is stunning, I really love the inclusion of those pink roses and the overall aesthetic of it, but one of the reasons I'm obsessed with it it's because it's filled with so many deep emotions and feelings. It's beautiful and tragic, and I'm a mess everytime I read the little drabble it has. I adore it.

BIG BAD WOLF — lyannainsomnia

I could stare at this edit and everytime I will find something that I love. I consider dark aesthetics and color scheme a little bit tricky, but this one is perfection. The manip is so well done and the moodboard it's quite unique, I got goosebumps for how amazing it is.

MAGIC OF PEGASUS AND TANGLED FUSIONS by klarolineagainnaturally

We should be all thankful for having Lottie's talent and creativity on this fandom. I mean, KC x Barbie fusion? I never thought I needed that until I knew it was happening! This gif set it's stunning and has all the barbie vibes, and combining my younger self favorite story with my favorite couple it's a dream come true.

The tangled manip it's so realistic, like how? The color scheme just screams fairytale and I'm trash for it. I know everytime I'll watch Tangled I will only think about this beauty.

Her gifs are everything to me, they are so realistic, so aesthetically pleasing, so cohesive and perfectly made. I could spend hours and hours in her blog and I will never get tired, there is so much art to look at and it's unbelievable how talented she is.

@likemypulse I recently found out this blog and I have spent so much time on it. Their edits are full of colors and they are super eye catching. The way they match the pictures and made such beautiful edits it's something that I really love and that I look up to. It's such a gorgeous blog!

What makes The Rebel Princess so special?

First, to the Anon who asked if I was going to watch and I said I wasn’t. I’m sorry. I was wrong. Mea culpa. After seeing @dangermousie post about it, I got intrigued enough to start it and, man, this show is a masterpiece.

I don’t watch a lot of Chinese dramas because of two general reasons. First, the length. They are, for the most part, upwards of 60+ episodes and honestly, that’s a lot for me. Chinese dramas generally have an episode a night with a small break and when I’m watching a lot of KDramas (like now), keeping up with a show that long is difficult. Second, I like happy endings unless I really know what I’m getting into (*cough*TheWolf*cough*). If I’m going to invest 60 or more hours in a show, I want my OTP together and happy in the end.

But I thought, hey, I’ll give this a try and if I like it, I’ll just watch when I can. By episode 6, I was pretty solidly impressed and now at episode 14, I’m in hook line and sinker for this show and this OTP.

Why? I’m so glad you asked even though you didn’t but I’m going to tell you anyway.

The OTP. These two. Boy howdy, y’all, I didn’t think I would have this couple on my top 5 OTP of all time list by episode 14 but here we are. Zhang Zi Yi is amazing. Period. I don’t give a rat’s furry behind that she’s supposed to be 15 in the first couple of episodes even though she’s obviously not. Because she’s magnetic. She plays lighter scenes with a sweet innocence but she absolutely shines in the quiet, strong moments of her being a princess. And, man, is she a princess. Even though she’s supposedly a ‘pampered’ member of the royal family, she’s not immature, selfish or annoying. She’s kind at heart but she’s not putting up with anyone’s BS. I don’t think I’ve ever loved a CDrama heroine this much.

Zhou Yi Wei honestly isn’t my ‘type’ in a guy. He’s ruggedly handsome in his way but when I started the drama I was kind of like, ‘eh he’s fine for the part.’ But now? Friends, I am shook. He portrays Xiao Qi with such a gravitas that is, to overuse the term, magnetic. The character isn’t cruel or dismissive, he cares about his men and adores A’wu. And I mean ADORES her. He talks with her, is open and protective but pushes her when she needs it.

This is a ride or die OTP and that is my ultimate favorite thing ever. (Look at how he stares at her and smiles! Dead. I am dead.)

This show isn’t dubbed. When I watch dubbed CDramas, I get this sense of disconnection from the characters because it’s not the actors voices. Not here. The scenes feel grounded because you’re hearing the actors talk and emote rather than having a high pitched actress voice the female lead and a husky guy do the male voice. Zhou Yi Wei has a nice, soft voice and I’m so glad I get to hear it because it makes the character so much more real.

The most important aspect and what makes this show so special for me is that it thrives and relishes its quiet moments. That is not a usual thing for longer dramas. Normally, there’s lots of plots and scheming and it feels chaotic and loud. Sure, there’s scheming and plotting in Rebel Princess because palace politics and all but that’s not what drives the show. This drama isn’t afraid to spend 3 minutes on a scene with no dialogue showing A’wu embroidering a cloak for Xiao Qi. It’s beautiful and intimate.

The scene where Xiao Qi tells Awu the truth about why he married her and the fact that her father is a scheming jerk is rooted in the softness and quiet of the moment. No yelling or screaming. She’s not freaking out or taking the acting over the top- she’s heartbroken and you feel her pain as she sits and cries softly. When she breaks, at first she wants to cry alone but then gently calls his name and he’s instantly to her side holding her. He helps her shed the rose colored glasses in which she viewed her family - particularly her father - and he simply holds her. And she holds him back, clinging to him because he’s utterly hers now.

There’s scene after scene like this. Just the two of them together - sometimes alone - where they just talk and it’s captivating. The two of them are literal magic together. They play off each other perfectly - flirty, soft, fun...you can feel how much they love each other in those moments.

There’s plenty of action to come and I know from Mousie’s post there’s some great moments of Awu being even more of a badass and I can’t wait for that.

So, yeah, it’s not just a great show, it’s an amazing show. This couple has captivated me as much as any OTP I’ve loved up to this point.

Here Comes the Bride (and the Boys)

Pairing: Frankie ‘Catfish’ Morales/Reader

You’re is getting married! But, to get married, you need a dress. And instead of family at the dress appointment, the Reader brings some rather unusual guests. Her fiancé’s three weird best friends.

“First of all, you’re wrong!”

You laughed, bent in half and gripping the dashboard for support as Benny and Will argued in the backseat. You were taking the boys dress shopping, and you hadn’t anticipated the disaster that would be the Miller brothers sitting in the car together.

“Fuck you, a single Twinkie is absolutely bite sized!” Benny said angrily, taking a Twinkie out of his pocket and ripping the package open. “See?” And then he stuffed it in his mouth, proving that it was, in fact, one bite.

Will laughed, punching his brother lightly. “You’re disgusting. We are on our way to a distinguished wedding dress appointment and you’re here stuffing your face with twinkies.”

Santiago, who had the misfortune of driving, sighed. “Lord help me,” he said, turning into the parking lot of the bridal place. “I am surrounded by morons.”

Still smiling, you texted Frankie, who was sitting at home and trying to decide what the wedding’s color scheme would be.

You: Your bffs are fucking idiots

Goldfish: I’m sorry?

You: Benny just ate a whole ass Twinkie in one bite

Goldfish: Wow. Tell him he’s disgusting

You: Will already did. Gtg, we’re there

Goldfish: love you

You: Love you too babe

Getting out of the car, you suddenly rethought your decision to bring the boys to help you choose a wedding dress. But you really didn’t want to do it alone and no one in your family could make it. So you’d grabbed what you hoped was the next best thing. Frankie’s friends.

But it was too late. You pulled the door to the place open and walked in, smiling at the receptionist. “Hello! I’m here for an appointment.”

The receptionist eyed your group and nodded. “Of course. Last name?”

“Morales.” Technically that wasn’t your last name yet, but you’d been engaged for almost a year now and using Frankie’s last name just felt natural.

Once you were checked in, you waited on a couch with the boys.

“So what kind of dress are you getting?” Benny asked, looking at a dress that looked, and this was the nice way of saying it, like an overly decorated pastry.

“Not that,” you said. “I dunno. Maybe A-line? The last fancy thing I wore was when Frankie and I went out to that restaurant last New Years, but that had no back, and I’m not going that slutty for my wedding day.”

Will snorted. “Okay. So the requirements are currently as follows. It must have a back, and it cannot be, in your words, slutty.”

“It has to be white,” you added. “And I want a floor length dress.”

“Well that’s not enough to work off of.”

You shrugged. “It’s what I got.”

Your consultant came in at that point. “Oh! Well, I guess I don’t have to ask who’s the bride!” She said. “I’m Zoe. Who’d you bring with you? Any family?”

“Nope!” You said, looking at the boys. “These are my fiancé’s three best friends, Santiago, Benny, and William.”

Zoe nodded. “Okay. How long have you been engaged?”

You shrugged. “A year, give or take. My fiancé, Frankie, was military until about four months ago, when he went on his last mission.” You could still remember how defeated he’d been coming home, the pain in his eyes as he told you about Tom and everything else. “We’re getting married in September.”

“Awesome!” Zoe said. “So, budget?”

“Frankie and I put aside about two thousand.”

Zoe nodded again. “And are we looking for any specific style of dress?”

You shook your head. “Nope. I just know I want it a bit more conservative, but not something that covers every inch of skin I’ve got.”

“Okay then,” Zoe said. “Let’s go look at some dresses!”

Unsurprisingly, the boys were apprehensive about this part. Benny was the first to recover, happily diving in and pulling a few dresses to ask you about them. Once he found his groove, Will and Santi quickly followed suit.

“What about this?” Santi asked, showing you a dress.

“Eh,” you said, looking over. “I don’t like that feathery bit on the bottom.”

It was interesting, shopping for a wedding dress. You’d only wear it once, but it was so damn important. You passed over dress after dress, dismissing most of them. Eventually, after a fair amount of searching, you and the boys had picked out a few dresses that were all decent contenders.

Trying the dresses on, that was a completely different story. The first dress Zoe brought you, which was one of Santi’s picks, was gorgeous, and actually made your tear up a bit.

“Oh dear, tears already?” Zoe asked, handing you a tissue.

“I just,” you said weakly, wiping your eyes. “I love Frankie so much, and I can’t believe after everything we’ve been through, I’m finally able to officially call him mine.”

Zoe rubbed your back. “I get it hon,” she consoled. “He must be one hell of a man.”

“Oh he definitely is.”

After a few more minutes of admiring the dress and composing yourself, you walked out to show the boys.

Immediately, they went quiet, admiring your dress. You stood on a small pedestal, turning and admiring the dress in the big mirror. “I like it.”

“But?” Santiago prompted.

“I don’t get that big wow feeling,” you finished, almost guilty. “Sorry Santi.”

Santiago shook his head. “It’s okay,” he promised. “But you do like it?”

You nodded, swishing the dress around. “Yeah. It’s got the right amount of pop.”

“Pop?” Benny asked.

“Details,” you elaborated, running a hand along the subtly flowered waistline. “Flair. Call it whatever. And the shape is nice.”

Will nodded. “The sleeves aren’t your thing, are they?”

“Yeah, absolutely not.” You put a finger under the short sleeve. “It’s tight across the shoulders and I feel like I can’t lift my arms.”

“So no short sleeves?” Santiago asked.

“We can eliminate short sleeves,” you decided.

The next few dresses were all like the first. Decent and very pretty, but not your dress. You managed to eliminate a few other things you weren’t too fond of, like the super tight mermaid dresses and the overly poofy princess dresses. Sleeveless was still on the table, but you were hesitant about that. The boys gave amazing criticism, and no one started any drama, which was nice. But still, you found yourself wishing Frankie were here. He’d know exactly what to recommend. You could almost hear him whispering in your ear as you examined yet another not right dress.

“I’m sure you’ll get it eventually, margarita.”

You sighed, deeming the dress a flop and heading back to try something else on.

And then you passed a dress on the way back to the changing room that made you stop in your tracks.

“What is it?” Zoe asked, stopping right behind you.

“What’s that?” You asked, pointing to the dress.

Zoe followed your finger. “Oh. That’s a dress we just got. It’s from a small designer who specializes in unique dresses.”

“Can I try it on?” You asked, still mesmerized.

“Sure.” Zoe grabbed the dress. “It’s not floor length though.”

You shrugged, still watching the dress with nothing short of awe. “I’m willing to bend for this dress.”

The dress fit you perfectly, and when you turned around to look at it for the first time, you were dead silent for a whole minute before starting to cry again.

“Still good tears?” Zoe asked hopefully, helping you step back into your white flats.

“This is my dress,” you said softly. “This is my dress.”

Zoe smiled. “It looks really good on you,” she said. “Shall we show the boys?”

You nodded, smoothing your hands down the textured fabric of the skirt.

Walking out to show the boys was the hardest thing you’d done in a while. The dress was perfect, it was definitely the one, but what if they didn’t agree?

You heard gasps from the group when you stepped onto the pedestal, back facing them.

“So?” Zoe prompted. “What do you think?”

“It’s my dress,” you said yet again. “It’s perfect.”

“It is,” Santiago agreed. “C’mon, turn for us, let us see.”

You turned, facing the boys.

Immediately, Benny, who was smiling, threw his hands up. “Okay, so we threw all the rules out for this dress.”

You laughed, feeling the skirt swish around your calves. “It’s perfect Benny. I had to break the rules for the daisies.”

“I don’t get it,” Benny said, leaning back. “Why daisies?”

“That’s what Frankie calls me,” you said softly. “I’m his margarita. It’s Spanish for daisy.”

You turned to examine the dress again. It was still white, which would placate your mother and gave you that bride feeling in the pit of your stomach. But the thing that sold you was the thin layer of sheer white fabric on top, the layer with the small daisies on it. The sleeves were nice, loose without being a hazard and tight without being too restricting. The V neck was modest enough for a wedding, and the smooth white ribbon around your natural waist really helped define the shape of the dress.

Zoe came out with a matching flower crown and placed it on your head, causing you to tear up when you faced yourself in the mirror again.

“Oh honey,” Santiago said, standing and wrapping you in a hug. “Is it group hug time?”

You nodded, feeling the warm embrace of the boys around you. “Thank you,” you said softly, surrounded by friends. “My mother would’ve had an aneurysm if I tried this on for her.”

Benny laughed, rubbing your back. “We get it,” he said. “And trust us, Fish is gonna adore it.”

Seven months later, you were freaking out, trying not to cry in your small tent, twenty minutes before you were supposed to walk down the aisle.

“What if he doesn’t show up?” You asked one of your bridesmaids, Luca. “What if he doesn’t wanna get married anymore?”

Luca put her hands on your shoulders. “Hey. I’m sure he’s just as nervous as you, and I’m absolutely positive he’s sticking around.”

You took a breath, anxiety spiking again as a knock echoed on the door.

“Can we come in? We have a gift for the bride.”

You eagerly accepted the boys in, embracing them each in turn.

“You look like a goddess,” Will complimented, holding you at arm’s length and smiling. “He’s so nervous.”

“Told you so!” Luca shouted.

Benny laughed. “He told us to give you this.”

You took the small box, opening it hesitantly and pressing a hand to your mouth before the tears bubbled over. It was a necklace, nothing seemingly expensive or fancy. It had a thin silver chain, and on the end of the chain was a circle of resin, no bigger than a quarter, with a beautiful pressed daisy in it.

Luca helped you slip the necklace over your head. The daisy pendant sat on your skin, just above the V neck, barely visible.

“Are you ready?” Santiago asked, placing the necklace box down.

You nodded. “As I’ll ever be.”

The next almost half hour of waiting was agony. You texted Frankie, both of you anxious and both of you very ready for the ceremony to be over. Then, Frankie stopped responding, and you heard the music. It was time.

You father took your arm and guided you out of the tent, into the park you’d picked for the venue. Plenty of people were waiting for you, but you only had eyes for one of them.

Frankie turned, his entire face lighting up as he saw you walking towards him. He looked amazing, all clean and neat in a suit with a small daisy tucked into his lapel. He wasn’t wearing his hat, but you almost wished he was. He’d shaved, but that tiny spot where he constantly complained about the lack of facial hair was still there and obvious.

You father smiled, placing your hands in Frankie’s. He squeezed them, and you felt pure joy humming through your veins. You were getting married.

“Ready?” Frankie asked you softly, so softly you almost didn’t hear him.

You didn’t even hesitate to answer. “I’m ready.”
