Can someone who is well-versed in Witcher lore confirm or deny whether Geralt has albinism? He is listed on the wiki page for characters with albinsim, but seeing as every character with albinism that I know of isnt included, I dont trust the list very much…
#the wiki says that experimental mutagens caused geralt to lose all of his body pigmentation#but is this process more similar to a character whose hair goes gray under stress than someone with albinism?#i mean youre born with albinism so having it be the result of experiments later in life is highly unrealistic#but this is a fantasy series we are talking about so i accept that logic works a bit differently#but im tired of seeing characters “with albinism” who only have the appearance of a PWA#while things like vision issues and light sensitivity are completely ignored#i never wouldve guessed that geralt has albinism tbh#probably because of his yellow eyes#i just thought that he had a fantasy characters color scheme with wolf like features and whatnot#but if hes actually a PWA then i would consider reading the books#i am so starved for (good) albinism representation#bunny babbles#geralt of rivia#the witcher#albinism

Rebelle 7 tiny test
ID: a digital painting that mimics a small gouache and colored pencil painting on dark paper. A seated figure with pink hair, cat ears, and tail is facing away from the viewer. Their body is covered in plain clothing: a green scarf, a blue jacket, and red-brown pants. The figure is sitting in sparse grass and rim lit in orange as though they are facing a campfire out of frame.
#rebelle 7#what do you mean I can't export any height information at all#I was so excited to make a VR gallery with normal and metallic maps#program you are raytracing height info and it is glorious to paint with but please please please let me export it#thankfully I got it on super sale but I was ready to pay full price for pigment color mixing and height or normal maps + metallic maps#rebelle#anthro art#mx kit digital

so are we just going to keep ignoring how blond people don’t fucking exist
#okay i actually don’t know if this is 100% true#bc the friend who shared this info doesn’t even have blonde hair#nor does anyone in their family#but i do have white people in my family and it’s quite suspicious that my mom dyes her hair#she insists it’s to keep the gray out but now i’m not so sure…#we didn’t go to hs v many white ppl but now that im in college that has changed so not to sound like a creeper#but i have been paying more attention#oh important clarification when i saw blond i mean BLOND. like kinda white/very much yellow#my friend said the pigmentation goes away as u age so ppl w hair color like that when they’re older are prob dyeing it#which does match up w my observations#bc so many of the “blond” ppl i see have dark roots#also i know i can just look this up but i dont really care that much#but yeah. tumblr said there was like a week gap between my last few posts but i don’t think it’s been *that* long#so i’m gonna round down and say that i get to make 4 more rant posts without feeling bad about it#sorry everyone#and blond ppl

So, you don't believe in races, as like, a social construct to separate people based on skin color and where you were born, because racism is the hate of all races that aren't your own, and "race" can be a blanket term for both skin color and ethnicity, but race can also be a quick way to say "I wasn't born here." So the term isn't inherently bad, i just want to specify, do you not believe in races due to the social construct aspect, or just refusing to acknowledge races as a general thing? And no I'm not trying to start anything, im just a little confused about this, the context is lacking...
I can try to summarize this with my poor English:
It's a fabricated thing to categorize people and empower groups! In the 16th century, when race was first conceptualized, the "white saint" (white European) was thought to be smarter, more civilized and therefore superior in comparison to other "types" of people by "default". At first Christianity justified this by saying the white European is closer to God:
It started as a tool to justify european superiority, the white skinned, civilized man of God. Pure and right. (Christianity began depicting angels, saints and Jesus as white, blonde, blue/green eyes europeans.)
Later on, people began assimilating that concept in a deeper way, thinking that the Ethiopian is enslaved and exploited because that's how things are naturally. Colonies were a thing also, cementing this idea further.
And Darwinism made all of this even worse. It's when very smart people would compare the skull of a chimpanzee with the one of a black person, thinking "damn... so the Caucasian is evolved! Now it all makes even more sense!"
Historically, previous to the 16th century people would not use the word race to classify people, but ethnicity, religion, beliefs. Race is a very recent thing and it all started with the necessity of allowing the European to do whatever they wanted with others. Race didn't only make them feel inherently superior, but also convinced the people, of different skin color or features, to believe that they are different.
And I'm very against this! not only races aren't real in a scientific point (genetically we are NOT that different to be classified in such way), them were invented to divide people, to oppress, and to make you believe that whatever good or bad thing happens to you is because of an inherited right or curse.
And this is something that I want to end, somehow, because I come from a man who was a Nazi.
#you should read about this#its a lot to unpack#just because your nose has this shape or your skin looks like that doesnt mean you belong in another group#it doesnt mean you are different in my eyes#its the foundation of hatred#and i wish I could express better how I feel about someone with “different features” because most seem to take the word “differences”athear#for me pigmentation and facial structures dont feel like differences#i am not comparing the color of my skin with yours to find a difference#this is another thing that feels very wrong for me

Why does everyone who make "genetically correct" warrior cats make them brown, when domestic cats can be the most orange fucks on earth
You're telling me my man Firestar isn't this orange?? Why should Firestar the orange cat be a black/brown tabby
#hollow.txt#warrior cats#cat genetics#phaeomelanin is literally one of the like 2 cat pigments#cats they come in black and red and other colors are variations of them or a lot of white#I'm begging everyone who makes these things to at least know a little bit of genetics#SCIENTIFICALLY CORRECT DOESN'T MEAN MORE BORING#or more neutral colors#also what I THINK they're going for is black tabbies#which can look kinda brown gray black ish depending on the cat and stuff?#but they're drawn light brown with slightly darker brown stripes#which is. Not really similar to most actual cats#They just look like breed specific colors of breeds that don't even have tabby patterns#Or they could be a decently badly portrayed dilution? I guess?#but dilution is recessive I believe why would all the cats have it#rant ig#hollow.q

Oh ooh ooh i actually have future!Silverlight design ideas!
So some of the optic ideas were Megatron style optics but blue, and Optimus style optics but red. I've been leaning towards the latter option, with Megatron's drifty optics oh naturally.
Think about it for a minute
#transformers#tfp au#oc talk#ship kid#tfp Megatron#tfp optimus prime#that kid is going to be so expressive it's insane#because i really love optimus's optics in tfp and i think about them but in red sometimes#ohhh I've also got way a lot of other possible optic designs (some having more rid15-eske styles and a few even being DE purple!)#but the telescopic optics in red is currently my favorite#... maybe i should make another poll?#as mentioned Silverlight's optics currently are pure white but will gain their adult pigment as their plating will later on#though we can decide optic design now and the colors later?#i don't think Silverlight will inherit her carrier's vision problems but he'll definitely have ~moments~ like carrier does#... if Silver has telescopic optics that are also drifty optics does that mean they can possibly move them independently like a chameleon?#Silverlight

part of me wants to invest in a few Good Watercolors part of me is like 'I don't DESERVE good watercolors I haven't EARNED THE RIGHT to get good watercolors'
#how do I balance 'you're an adult you don't have to preemptively punish yourself for your shortcomings forever'#against 'I have an awareness of my shortcomings and one of them is if I buy expensive paint in an adhd passion I might not actually use it'#I mean-- I won't NOT use it EVER like it won't go BAD or anything#but I've had this same cotman pocket set for like fifteen years#and on the one hand okay! if I buy high quality watercolors and they last the rest of my life then that was a pretty good investment!#but obviously on the other hand if I use watercolors so infrequently can I justify getting better ones... it's not like I really need them#I dunno. I dunno!! I feel like my colors are really dull and unsatisfying and more densely pigmented paint would make me really happy#but I also feel guilty about going into these adhd manias that last JUST long enough for me to Buy Things#I'm in a 'wehhh I wanna life sketch more' phase right NOW but will it even last the rest of the week lmao :')#about me

unironically this is a very good, very fast explanation of color science, as it pertains to physics, optics, image capture and digital art (color science for analog artists is a bit different)
#the same tiktok account explains why in other videos#“artist” primary colors are supposedly blue yellow red#but a lot of it is based on how old pigments used to work#mildly offtopic but ultramarine blue pigments are very hard to work with#you add one grain of it and it turns everything dark blue#color science depends on your medium#and I mean specifically your medium#the brand the quality the density the additives#the color of the canvas#the amount of water#people who try a little hard to point out things like YELLOW IS A PRIMARY COLOR AKSHYUALLY#usually are just full of themselves and not full of knowledge#don't get me even started on the color science of digital cameras#and digital formats and color gamuts and OOTF and Rec.709 and HDR and the quality of TVs#if you learn anything about it you will get upset

NO WAY I HAVE A THOUGHT HOLD ONN
I just saw this TikTok of this girl that has a bf w a lot of tattoos and she gets this colourful eyeshadow pallet from her makeup bag to COLOUR IN THE TATTOO if u get what I mean like the tattoo could be like a butterfly or a dragon AND SHE COLOURS IT IN WITH HER COLOURFUL EYESHADOW PALETTE and omg I IMMEDIATELY thought of SUKUNA it’s be such a cute interaction 🥹🥹
-Anon🥢
GOD THIS IS SO CUTE-
——
Sukuna naps. More than he should.
He can fall asleep anywhere and everywhere, for long stretches of time that you should be concerned with, had he not been doing it since the beginning of your relationship.
Your first date was not worth paying for a movie, candy and popcorn, when he merely slept the whole time. You could’ve done it for free at home.
Regardless, here you were, repeating history as he snores loudly next to you, his arms crossed as he sleeps soundly, lips parted to let out small little huffs. You sigh and grab your phone to scroll, no longer interested in the movie without having someone to talk to about it.
The first thing to pop up, has you smirking, with a girl shading in her boyfriends tattoos with eyeshadow. Granted, sukuna doesn’t have shapes of tattoos, but he has plenty of tan skin to cover.
You squeal and run to grab your palette and a brush, suddenly more excited than you realized to color in your boyfriend.
You start with a gentle touch on the circle of his shoulder, dipping into a peach that looks enough like his skin tone if he were to wake up.
When he doesn’t, that’s you’re cue to keep going. It doesn’t take long before he’s absolutely covered in pigment.
The small bit of skin between the tattoos on his chest are quick to be colored in, your brush gently dusting over his skin to apply the color. His face twitches but ultimately, he stays asleep. You deem him out of it enough to straddle his lap, allowing you more access to his tattoos and tanned skin, nearly laughing as he stays asleep, arms laid limp at his sides.
Bright pink blends into bright purple in the gaps of his tattoos, and in the gap of skin below the ink, mint green turns to light blue. You smile and clean your brush with another swirl on a paper towel, dipping into a lilac color and swirling it on the slender bit of skin on his bicep above the skin not needled with ink.
Your brush trails a tad too close to under his arm, and he scrunches his face and shakes you off. You pause, holding your breath, but you’re out of luck as he screws his eyes tight and grunts in exhaustion.
“Whyre you tickling me?” He grumbles, stretching awake and smacking his lips together. “I’ll kill you. We’ve been over this.”
“I’m not,” you hum, pressing a kiss to his cheek and brushing a lock of hair off of his forehead. “How was your nap?”
“S’good.” He rubs his eyes with the heels of his palms, and when he blinks his eyes open to look at you, his brows furrow at the colorful eyeshadow palette on your lap, “you doing some makeup shit?”
You sink your teeth into your lip, “uhm… kind of?”
“The fuck you mean kind of? It’s a yes or no-“ red eyes fall to his arm, face flat as he eyes the colors splashed over his body, some blended in together, others just solid colors filled onto his skin. You laugh nervously as he continues to look down at his torso. “So, you want me to beat the shit out of you?”
“No,” you giggle. “I wanted to make you prettier.”
“I’m already pretty enough, don’t use my body like a damn coloring book, you freak.” He stretches his arms out, brows furrowing as he sees the full extent of your coloring, “fucking- how mUCH EYESHADOW DID YOU USE?”
“Not a lot!” You defend. “It’s a pigmented palette.”
He glares at you, “and you’ve got the nerve to ask me to buy your fuckin’ makeup when this is the shit you pull!”
“You’re the one who fell asleep in the middle of the movie!” You whine, shoving his chest gently. “I needed to entertain myself somehow!”
He catches your shoving hand into his big one, and you gulp nervously, “I’m old. I sleep a lot. This ain’t news.”
The fact he hasn’t yelled at you tells you everything you need to know, and you grab your brush again to continue. “Hey! I’m scolding you, dickhead!”
“Im listening,” you assure, popping the brush into the yellow and moving to the other tattooed circle on his shoulder. “Youre old, I know, you like sleeping, I know-“
“That was not an invitation for you to keep coloring!” He hissed.
You look back up at him though your lashes, pouting subtly, “aw, jeez- fuck you, you know that?” He snarls, and when you blink at him, he rolls his eyes and sits up to be nose-to-nose with you. “Stay out of my armpits. Do not color my face. And so help me, if you take any pictures-“ when your pout deepens, his lip curled into a snarl, “fuck you. ONE. picture.”
“You’re the best!” You mewl, peppering his face with tiny kisses. “The best boyfriend anyone could ask for-“
“Shut up and keep coloring before I change my fucking mind.”

i already was seeing a lot of Jason with albinism stuff but there's been a significant uptick in it since the Thalia casting announcement and I wanted to say: please please PLEASE do actual research about albinism if you're gonna make headcanons about Jason being albino. I have already seen so much ignorant and ableist stuff about it because nobody is bothering to do any research and it's really annoying.
A couple of major notes:
There are different types of albinism!!!!! and no i'm not referring to vitiligo or etc. Just straight up albinism there are different types. There are two main types (oculocutaneous albinism types 1 and 2) plus ocular albinism, and then some other types as well that are even rarer. It is also possible to have only partial absence of melanin. (Vitiligo is a form of partial absence/loss of melanin, and often involves loss over time)
Albinism is a lack of melanin/pigmentation. This affects sensitivity to light and UV rays a LOT. Like a lot a lot. (This also applies to vitiligo btw! Melanin protects your skin from the sun, so a loss of melanin even in patches means those areas are more sensitive!)
Skin sensitivity to sunlight does not only apply to when it is sunny out. People with albinism have to take a lot of steps to protect their skin because they are SIGNIFICANTLY more susceptible to sun/UV damage. It doesn't matter if it's overcast, raining, snowing, whatever. They are putting on sunscreen, and they are putting on a lot of it. Sun protection can also come from just covering up. Big hats are also popular choices.
Sensitivity to light also applies in all environments. Transition glasses are common and sunglasses are common.
People with albinism do not have red irises. A lack of pigmentation in irises (referred to as ocular albinism) appears blue, usually a very light blue (less melanin/pigmentation in the eye, the lighter blue it appears). The red appearance comes from more light entering the eye than usual, causing a red eye effect like you see in flash photography except with the naked eye. This can make the iris appear slightly pink/red-tinted and will more often make the pupil look reddish instead of pure black because you are seeing into the eyeball itself and the muscles and veins within it. Not everyone with albinism has blue eyes depending on how much the pigmentation in their eyes is affected, but a lot of people do.
Albinism basically always includes the individual having vision problems, usually low vision or outright being legally blind. They are not completely blind but it is very likely they are legally blind. We're talking very thick glasses (though glasses don't always help because of what causes the low vision), requiring enlarged text, i know somebody who had a little glass block that magnified text underneath it and they used that a lot, etc etc. Depending on severity they may require other assistive devices. Albinism affects the optic nerve, so other eye conditions like strabismus and nystagmus (and more) are also extremely common if not a guarantee (nystagmus is basically always guaranteed).
Nystagmus, for those who don't want to bother googling it, is uncontrollable eye movement in the form of back and forth shaking. Strabismus is when your eyes don't align with each other. These also cause vision impairment.
If you are writing Jason as having poor vision from albinism, he would KNOW he needs glasses. Literally everybody should know he needs glasses/is blind. He would likely be legally blind and would have been pretty much his entire life. He would also almost definitely have other eye conditions as well. (Also rip Jason being raised by the wolves, poor guy is gonna have the WORST sunburn)
People with albinism have different skin tones! And different hair colors! A lack of pigmentation looks different depending on your individual genes and what type of albinism you have! Look up photo references!!!!!
There is also a lot of fetishization of albinism. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL when you are making headcanons about it, or creating/designing characters who are albino.
Here's a couple of short tiktoks that go over some basic information and other stuff about albinism if visual-auditory learning is more your jam: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] (Kayla_lud has a lot of videos going over information about albinism)
okay now everybody take your notes and go tweak your headcanons yeah? yeah. okay good.

I will forever appreciate a theme in my fictional stories, & that’s exactly what Wind Breaker (by Nii Satoru) has, so, I present:
Wind Breaker characters have a theme to their names.. a thread:
Bōfūrin / 防風鈴
so, even though our protag group’s name is written and visually represented as “wind chime”, Bōfūrin’s name is where this group’s theme of trees/plants start:
防風鈴 (“prevent/protect” “wind chime”) has the same reading as 防風林, a type of forest planted strategically to prevent wind erosion of soil — much like Fūrin’s mission of protecting and serving their town
all of Bōfūrin’s named members (and close associations) so far have some element of tree/plant/wood in their last name (if you look at the kanji of their last names, you’d see a lot of wood radicals/木字旁):
桜 遥 • Sakura Haruka: 桜 / cherry tree
(fun fact: his name 遥 / haruka means "far"; also it's commonly a feminine given name)
蘇枋 隼飛 • Suō Hayato: 枋 / sandalwood (?) or tree used as timber, general term for wooden beams in houses
(fun fact: his last name 苏枋 is the Chinese name of a traditional reddish brown color, named after a pigment made from 苏木!)
(fun fact: his name 登馬 means "to mount a horse"; no, not that kind of mount, the regular horseback riding kind)
梅宮 一 • Umemiya Hajime: 梅 / plum tree
(fun fact: his name 一 is just "one")
This association also extends to Kotoha, who is very closely associated with Bōfūrin:
橘 琴叶 • Tachibana Kotoha: 橘 / orange tree
now, Bōfūrin members yet to be featured in the show: (spoilers below the break)
(if you want to go to later parts: part 2 - shishitoren & part 3 - noroshi!)
梶 蓮 • Kaji Ren: 梶 / paper mulberry (broussonetia papyrifera)
(fun fact: his name 蓮 / Ren means "lotus")
椿野 佑 • Tsubakino Tasuku: 椿 / Japanese camellia
(fun fact: their name 佑 means "to help/protect" or "to bless"!)
桐生 三輝 • Kiryū Mitsuki: 桐 / empress tree (paulownia tomentosa)
柘浦 大河 • Tsugeura Taiga: 柘 / mandarin melon berry (maclura tricuspidata)
There's also 桃瀬 匠 (Momose Takumi, "peach tree") & 水木 聡久 (Mizuki Saku, "wood"), the two other Heavenly Kings
I hope I have rly driven the point home here,, /lh
