I'll try to put this as succinctly as I can (which I'll probably fail at honestly) to explain why fans are upset, but this

because I thought that Alicent’s actions in it made a lot of sense honestly. Idk maybe it’s because it’s different from the book and I’ve never read the book

-is most definitely part of why you may not get it (and even then non-book readers have stated it doesn't make sense either). The show has failed in so many aspects that have ripple effects, ones that are simply not undeniable anymore. If I were to put it simply, the writing is nothing less than horrible for various reasons (lack of substantial political intrigue even tho the core of the story is political, misogyny, ableism, and likely unintended racism, etc.). Like this

Ain't the case. It's not people "not realizing" this, this didn't occur at all. Her actions did nothing but result in giving up the lives of her entire family members, endangering them. Therefore the people who noticed this can tell the writers were trying to force parallels that don't work at all.

People are rightfully berating her even if it hurts me to watch because she did in fact choose Rhaenyra. She didn't choose Helaena at all, she did the opposite. No logical person would go to the woman whom (as far as you know) is responsible for the brutal murder of their Daughter's son (your grandchild) to just further give up on your family. Which is part of the reason people are angry. That and they made what was supposed to be a politically intelligent character stupid, and nothing but a mouthpiece for the writers.

A benefit that isn't going to happen. This is another reason people are mad, logistically, that meeting didn't guarantee Peace in any way. She doesn't have that authority to begin with.

This is true, and a different angle at this trope is something that could be interesting to take a crack at. It just isn't for this story at all.

And so Alicent and Helaena choosing their daughters was their rebuttal against the patriarchy, and the only one they could really make.

2 things here, Alicent didn't choose Helaena (she fucked her over instead), neither did Helaena "choose" her daughter. That's another part that the writers messed up. Jaehaera was never a factor regarding that in B&C. Blood & Cheese could have just checked which one of the twins was which (something GRRM himself pointed out because that writing choice was that stupid), but the writers decided to remove the Sophie's choice aspect of the whole event. Resulting in the entire thing being watered down and not impactful. Helaena didn't choose anything since they were always going to go after a son in the end anyhow. It wasn't a "rebuttal against the patriarchy" far from it.

I don't picture any younger version of herself setting up all her sons for murder (including her youngest Daeron and also in turn her Daughter and grand-daughter). I would love to know why you think this though.

She's allowed to be selfish in ways that make sense writing-wise. The Alicent apologists are not annoyed at not perceiving her as a "saint", they're just tired of the blatant sexist and nonsensical writing that was presented to them. Some are not going to bend over backward to excuse horrible (as well as disrespectful) writing.

And while she’s definitely not evil like her weird misogynistic haters make her out to be, she DOES have flaws.

Yeah, there was definitely a chunk of people that were like that during the first season. But if people are saying this after season 2, I wouldn't be able to say much back. Because no matter how you split it selling out the lives of your immediate family during a war (which you helped cultivate a little) for a woman who would never do the same for you, is evil.

She’s a genuinely complex character, which is the reason why I thought everyone who liked her liked her in the first place.

She is complex but this only works on a positive note if the writing is top-notch. If it isn't, all that's left is a mess of a character.

*rings the service bell* hi um i was wondering.. if there's any yakumo temperature play in here? sounds silly but i only realised after i circled the building a few times... that i haven't seen it at all. Seems to be common practice, actually- to not have it. i've visited several other buildings and there's been no sight of it.

which is... strange? if i think about it, it's surprising that i haven't encountered it yet! it sort of makes sense to have them together, you know? considering that temperature is so vital to a snake's perception of the world. and how sensitive reptiles are to temperature fluctuations.

so there's a lot of control to be had here. can you imagine controlling someone's energy level just by adjusting the thermostat? er- well, i guess we already do that. but imagine you put yakumo in an ice bath and he immediately falls asleep. brumation happens instantly now, sorry. and the only way to snap him out of it is to stick a flaming dildo up his ass

i'm JUST SAYING that since he naturally gravitates toward heat, you could put him in a hurt AND comfort scenario he could be naked and cold, banished to the distant corner of the room.. but when you offer him a source of warmth, whether that be a hot rock or a warm hand or 20 lit candles suspended above him dripping wax on him at random intervals,,, wouldn't he have a tough time turning down your generosity?

while he's half in the prison of his mind and half in the confines you've created for him, take some time to squeeze some whimpers out of him. although it pains me to cover up those soggy eyes, a blindfold may be an intriguing option. is yakumo the type of snake to rely on heat vision? WHY NOT FIND OUT! (if he's not terrified at his loss of sight, then i guess his pit organs are functioning . in which case, the blindfold doesn't really need to stay on. if he IS terrified and feels the loss of visuals acutely, this would be an excellent opportunity to soak in his panic. just for a bit though. we're not so cruel. guide him back with a warm touch. see? playing with fire temperature contrasts can bring such relief!)

maybe i'm getting ahead of myself. i don't expect yakumo temperature play to show up WITH bondage , why- that would be asking a lot, right?

but the basics are simple enough, yes? give the wretched creature the comforting warmth he wants, then perhaps inch closer to something bordering uncomfortable? Too Much? have him seek out what he craves, only to be burned (metaphorically and/or literally) if he indulges himself too much? oops! someone's become a slave to their senses!

i'm just saying that the sensory perception of yokai vs kink is (relatively) unknown territory. if temperature play already messes with humans, what could it possibly do to yakumo? he could experience it in facets unknown to others.-=- to levels others are incapable of appreciating---- like someone with synesthesia who can experience music with another layer of enjoyment.

I actually think I put my finger on the thing that most bothers me about the perpetual pro vs anti Jedi discourse, which is that everybody argues for their interpretation of the Jedi as though the Jedi were a monolith. As though there were not 10,000+ of them spread across multiple temples, from many different homeworlds, with unique paths and individual connections to the Force. It doesn’t seem right to me to assert absolutes about what the Jedi code Actually Meant and whether it was too dogmatic or applied correctly by the Order or whatever when I think we can see in canon that you would get different answers about its meaning and application from the Jedi themselves, even the ones that inhabited and learned in the same temple. I feel like that’s the point of a lot of what we get shown in the prequels and TCW.

Sans: If he wasn't at the aviary, Sans would meet his darling just from living in his local forest. She has to pass through his woods in the morning to get to work, then at night to get home... though it's technically a very small patch of forest, he still has plenty of opportunities to attack her.

... But he doesn't attack. Of course. Instead, thief Sans is back! Keys, wallet, necklaces, shoes (how?!). Nothing is safe.

He plays harmless pranks by cover of night, most of which just involve stealing things from her then retreating quickly, grinning eerily from a distance until she approaches to try and get them back. The way he turns his head so slowly really freaks her out sometimes, he loves her spooked expressions... but she grows to appreciate his presence in the dark forest, the more time they spend together. He's a nuisance at worst and a welcome break from the shadows and tension at best. She knows that she's not alone, she knows he won't hurt her. And as soon as she sees the blue flash of his eyelight up in the trees, she knows she's got someone protecting her.

Red: Red fully intended to take their courtship slow. But one day, he saw her through her window, dancing and singing. And he was so lovestruck he decided fuck it, he'll just move in with her now.

... It's a perfectly natural step for a monster. Not so much for a human. But there's not really much you can do, when a huge harpy decides to make your home his home too. What is she gonna do, kick him out? His claws are the size of her head. She's got no choice but to make do.

He's... surprisingly chill, though. He gives her space when she wants it, and though he doesn't seem to be able to stop himself from preening her hair when she sits down, he shows his suitability as a mate by respecting her desire for alone time. She kinda enjoys waking up to a company in the house... she kinda enjoys how when she's sleepy, he'll lovingly play with her hair until she passes out. She likes how when she watches TV, he'll tuck a blanket-like wing over her. But most of all, she likes that since he considers her entire home his den, he's always tidying up the little things that she sometimes just can't handle.

... It kinda feels like... she accidentally adopted a massive, neat, adoring cat?

Skull: They 'met' while she was on a solo hiking trip through his territory in the mountains, and her relaxing solo hike turned into a nightmare when she realised a massive harpy was stalking her through the snow from afar. It gets even worse when she gets into an accident, becoming so badly injured she can't move... as darkness closes in around her, trapped on a cold mountain, she's convinced that this was why the harpy was following her. She's convinced she'll freeze to death overnight, and he'll pick apart her remains.

... But neither of those things happens.

Skull was following because he was crushing. Seeing her condition, he scoops her up. He finds some rudimentary shelter, a bush or a little cave to curl up in... and he nestles her close all night long. He keeps her tucked away in his thick warm feathers, where the ice can't bite her. She's even soothed into something of a sleep by the glow of his eyelight and sound of his soft, delighted cooing.

... By morning, he's able to escort her down the mountain, where he vanishes like a ghost as soon as other hikers appear. Mc wants to express her gratitude to him, though- as soon as she's recovered, she makes the same hike, this time with food gifts.

Skull is delighted she came back. Nobody has ever come back to him.

Like, it fits them so well (for the little i know still about them), but i love this music and i love them, so it would be fair to pair them together 😅

Been trying to make a thick winter hat all damn weekend and have gotten approximately nowhere very slowly.

First was gonna do some cables (good way to make a thick hat), but my brain is mush and I just couldn't get math and tension to co-operate. Then I figured, bit of single color brioche is also very thick. Can't do brioche anymore apparently, as it wasn't working. Fine, I'll just crochet it--except now it's not warm because it has too many holes. Also, I've been using a very dark yarn for this bc its what I have, but I'm starting to suspect that not being able to see my stitches has been the problem this whole time.

So...now idk what. I still need a thick winter hat. Also need a pair of mittens and a wheelchair blanket as well as to actually finish that wheelchair bag (even more important now bc I ripped a huge hole in one of my prototypes on Friday and I dont want to fix it). Augh. So much to do. So little brain and even less arm strength to do it with.

I'm going to rethink my yarn choices and try for the hat yet again, I guess.
