Throughout history, there have been two types of hyenas: bone-crushing hyenas, and dog-like ones. Spotted, striped, and brown hyenas are the bone-crushing type. Of the dog-like hyenas, the aardwolf is the only species left.

Aardwolf means "Earthwolf" in Afrikaans, a language spoken in Southern Africa. Their use of burrows is what earned them the "earth" part of their name. Although wolf is also in its name and it looks very dog-like, aardwolves are not canines. They are the smallest of four hyena species, weighing around 20 pounds (9.07 kg).

Unlike the other hyena species that eat carrion, aardwolves eat insects. If they really need to they can also eat eggs, small mammals, and vegetation, but insects are preferred. Their main insect prey is termites, and they can eat up to 300,000 of them in one night using their long tongues. Their tongues are very sticky as well, with large papillae (those little tongue bumps) and sticky saliva.

Since they behave differently and are much smaller than other hyena species, scientists used to think aardwolves were not part of the hyena family. With their striped coats, researchers thought they might have even been mimicking the striped hyena.

Aardwolves are found in arid plains of eastern and southern Africa, where they live in burrows dug by aardvarks, springhares, or porcupines. Some dig their own burrows, but taking over an abandoned one is much easier. They sleep in these burrows during the day, coming out at night to hunt for insects and to hang out with friends or whatever.

the sheets of your bed felt stiff and cold as you rolled around, mind wandering subconsciously. your skin was damp with hot sweat and your muscles tensed with terror. your limbs jerked slightly in your sleep, sending small shakes into the mattress.

you had always had bad nightmare since you were a kid. at the age of 10, you were in a pretty bad car accident that left you severely traumatized. dreams that were once filled with little kid wonders were now haunted with the extreme horror of loss. sometimes you would dream of your family going missing, one of your friends getting hurt, so many horrible things. you’d wake up the next morning completely shaken and exhausted from the lack of actual sleep. as you approached your late teens, your parents got you onto a strong sleep medication that had kept your nightmares at bay. while it didn’t completely eradicate them, they were at least more bearable.

when you had started dating your girlfriend, caitlin, you failed to mention anything about the nightmares or the medication. mainly because the conversation never came up…but also because you purposely chose not to tell her. you had never told anyone anything so vulnerable before and the idea scared you. you worried that it might make her think differently of you or judge you. so you kept it to yourself, making up excuses as to why you could rarely stay overnight at her place or vise versa. there were occasions, though, that you’d spend the night together. you were always extra careful those nights whether that meant taking your medication before bed or lying awake restlessly most of the night.

but as of last week, you two were officially moved in together. after quite some time together and a lot of intense discussions, you both decided that you wanted nothing more than to live together. and it was true, you really did want to live with her. she’s the love of your life and you couldn’t wait to share the same bed permanently. but of course, that meant you couldn’t hide the nightmares for much longer. the first few nights you were doing fine. the nightmares were small and unnoticeable, at least to caitlin because she had yet to say anything.

until tonight, unfortunately. you knew from the second you laid down in bed that it was going to be a rough night. the moment you pulled the thick duvet over your bodies, feeling caitlin’s arm pull you into her chest, you could practically sense it. so now here you were, asleep, thrashing left and right trying to shake them away.

unbeknownst to you, the slight kicks of your arms and legs began to wake caitlin up. at some point in the night she got a harsh jab to the ribs and jolted awake, worried that something had happened to you. her eyes slowly opened, blinking to try and fight the remnants of sleep way. she looked over to where your tense body lay and instantly became panicked.

you were mumbling something incoherent in your sleep. your body was trembling, the pillow your head rested against was drenched in sweat as well her tshirt you wore. it seemed as if there were tears streaming down the corners of your eyes, though they were squeezed shut in fear.

“no, no-please!” you cried unconsciously “cait-caitlin! please!”

your chest began to heave, breathe quickening at an alarming rate. caitlin, hearing her name, knew you were having a nightmare. but you had seemed so terrified that she couldn’t help but lose her composure. she hated seeing you so upset (whether you were asleep or not) and she’d never see you this distressed.

another whimper struck, making her heart ache for you “don’t leave me! no-please please caitlin no!”

she sat up so quick that the sheets fell off of her body and into her lap. her body maneuvered to hover over yours slightly, hands coming up to your shoulder to shake you lightly. you continued to tremor in your sleep, her hands now adding more force to your arm.

“baby-” she whispered-shouted into the quiet bedroom “YN, baby, wake up”

with a few more shakes, you gasped deeply, eyes opening widely. you looked around the room confused and scared. you then felt caitlin’s arms pull you closer to her, your hips touching and her hand running through your messy hair soothingly.

“hey hey, relax” she cooed, trying to help you control your breathing “you’re ok, you’re ok. i’m right here, alright?”

a deep gulp sounded from your throat as you tried to take full breathes, your arms finding their own way around caitlin’s waist. she held you tightly, running your back and kissing the top of your head to keep you calm.

“i had a really bad nightmare,” you spoke, voice shaken from tears “i-i dreamt that you were leaving me a-and i just couldn’t bare it, cait”

“i would never, never ever leave you, baby. i’m right here, i’m not going anywhere”

“i’m sorry” her arms fell down to the bed as you pulled away to look her in the eyes.

“for what? YN you did nothing wrong-”

“i’m sorry because i woke you up” shaking your head no, you kindly interrupted her “and because i never told you about the nightmares in the first place”

she looked at you quizzically, brows furrowed in concentration.

“you know the accident i was in when i was little, the one i told you about?” she nodded “it gave me some really bad trauma and really bad nightmares and now i have to take medication to sleep. i should’ve told you about it when i first told you about the accident, i’m sorry for keeping it from you”

“baby, don’t feel bad about something like that” she traced gentle markings into your bare thigh, a mindless habit she’s picked up “that’s something personal and scary to share, i don’t blame you at all. whatever you’re comfortable with sharing with me…just know that i’m grateful you do share things with me and that i’m always here for you. even with the nightmares, i’m gonna be here for you every night and i’ll do what i can, ok?”

your heart fluttered. it was so relieving to get that off your chest, to hear her vocalized support and know that it didn’t scare her off.

“i love you so much, you know that?” you wiped away the excess tears that sat underneath your bottom eyelashes, you leaned in to kiss her goodnight.

“i love you, too, thank you for trusting me with something so delicate. you deserve the absolute world” and with that, you just smiled, kissing her once more.

the both of you laid back down, sheets finding their way back over your figures. she spooned you from behind, encapsulating you in her grasp. you nuzzled in close to her as tight as you coulda and let a satisfied sigh fall from your lips as you fell into a peaceful slumber.

How to loose a guy in 10 day: Clark needs to write a story to break into the main stream so people will pay attention to his more important work and after hearing Cat grant talk about her love life he decides to write about all the ways you can drive a man away in ten days. Bruce Wayne is trying to adopt Dick and sign a deal for WE and both those things require him to prove he can commit to something and be a family man so he bets he can make someone fall in love with him in 10 days

The other woman: Bruce Wayne is dating lex Luther for PR reasons. Clark is dating lex for investigation reasons. When Clark finds out online that lex has a boyfriend he's furious about the infidelity and immediately tells Bruce. Bruce, thinking Clark is a heartbroken mistress, suggests working together to get revenge. Clark, wanting to comfort Bruce through his breakup, agrees to said revenge. Shenanigans insues.

The hangover: batman, superman and green lantern are assigned to a mission in Vegas. They complete it easily and to celebrate lantern convince them to get drinks together even though the other two don't get along. When Bruce and Clark(who isn't supposed to be able to get drunk) wake up the next morning they don't know where they are, somethings wrong with Clark's powers, Hal's ring is in the bathroom sink, he's no where to be found and apparently the two of them got married last night. They have to figure out what happened and where Hal is before the next JL debrief otherwise they'll have to admit to Diana and the whole team that they fucked up a simple mission by getting shit faced on the job and Bruce would rather die than let that happen.

The holiday: when Bruce realizes he's either dumped, adopted or detested everyone in Gotham he's yearning for a change of scenery. He gets into contact with an old friend, lois lane, who's recently devorced but is still living with her ex husband. After finding out that she shares his desire for something different they decided to swap homes for a few weeks where they can both work remotely to experience life across the pond.

Titanic: a young Bruce engaged to Talia goes on a yacht cruise with the league of assassin's on the unsinkable ship designed by lex Luther by combining metals like lead with alien tech. Uncoincidentally Clark sneeks on the ship to investing in for kryptonite and criminal activities but ends up finding love as well.( Does this mean Clark has to die? Probably, but it's worth it for the plot. And Clark's sacrifice and worldview could be what inspired Bruce to quit the league and become batman)

You before me: After Bruce is horribly injured on the field he has to prematurely hand over the mantel of batman. Since his kids have done a good job at filling in for him, Bruce feels like he's lost his purpose. Alfred decides to hire Clark kent, an aspiring journalist from Smallville, as Bruce's caregiver so he can show Bruce a better outlook on life and hopefully convince him to reconsider ending his life(y'all know I had to even out the death score)

Bring it on: Bruce Wayne, owner of the daily planet, prides himself on the fact that his paper was the most awarded publication for the past 3 years. While gearing up for the 4th his new hire, lois lane reveals to him that his recently retired chef editor has been stealing stories from a smaller independent paper. That paper has been gaining traction this year and is being nominated for the same awards as them, including a pulitzer. After the owner of the rival paper, Clark, doesn't accept his apology or financial help, Bruce strives for justice and wants to make it right. During this he starts admiring Clark's work and starts falling from him. Clark,reluctant to let his guard down and be too trusting again, says he doesn't want pity from a billionaire pushing Bruce to do everything he can to turn his staff into award winners.... or atleast decent writers.(I clearly have no idea how journalism awards work)

i like how the fandom has very different views on aiden’s parents. it’s either “oh they’re just normal parents” or “they low key kinda suck”

ok so, we all know that aiden’s parents are always out for like business trips and stuff leaving aiden by himself right? that means he would probably learn to do a lot things by himself since it was just him (and im referring to before ben started living with him) which isn’t exactly normal considering that they’ve probably been doing this since he was like 10-11 ish?? and yes there’s a possibility they hired a babysitter since they’re rich, but that defeats the purpose of this post shhhhh

also even when aidens parents might’ve home, they probably ended up neglecting him, but not purposely! it’s obvious his parents are both very busy people, hence why they’re always on trips. so when aiden would want something they wouldn’t necessarily have time. they’d give him his basic needs and necessities but they wouldn’t really have time for extra things.

like they’d do family things on the occasion like sit at the dinner table and talk to aiden about school and things like that, but nothing that aiden would really want to do, if that make sense.

they love aiden like how any other parent would love their child as well, like they obviously care and all. but sometimes they just accidentally neglect him (which is like bad, regardless if it’s a accident or not)

and since aiden’s dad said he used be a quiet kid what would most likely happen was after he came back from school or something he would go to his room, maybe like read a book or something and just not bother his parents. he probably understood they were busy but he still felt like he was being ignored.

like they could take a small chunk of their own time just to do what their son wants to do and stop ignoring him. like aiden must have NOT been happy being ignored.

especially now that you can see he doesn’t like being ignored or doesn’t let go of things easily. that’s why when he first met ashlyn he kept pushing her boundaries and not leaving her alone.

he acts the way he acts as a coping mechanism from not given as much attention as he may have wanted. he not just a psychopath like half the fandom says he is.

#1 Polin - Bridgerton

Did you really anticipate anyone else being at my top spot? Friends to lovers....Swoon! They have my heart, soul, and life. I literally love a girl who knows what she wants and a man who loves the fuck out of her like no other so this is like porn and comfort. Give me everything tonight and more!

#2 Captain Swan - OUAT

If you aren't going to give me friends to lovers, I'll move over to Enemies and find my kind because holy hot out of hell, there is nothing better than Captain Hook and his smolder winning over Emma Swan. Fuck that man can burn! Years after that show ended and I can still sit in them and ruminate and catch myself on fire.

#3 Clois - Smallville

There have been a lot of different Lois and Clark's out there, but none have been Erica Durance and Tom Welling. I've never been so happy and angry with a show in all my life. I used to wish so much against Lana Lang that I am embarrassed my own behavior. But I truly loved the banter and way these two brought these characters to live. It was marvelous.

Friends to lovers, he fell first, she fell harder and GOD I LOVE THEM YOUR HONOR!

#6 Starpollo - Battlestar Galactica

A couple who knew how to tear out my heart, throw it to the ground, and then trample it with their feet to ashes. While Lee and Kara were not destined to end up together, they damn sure made it hard not to want them to find a way. They truly loved each other more than anyone they were with in the show, but guilt always found a way to fuck that up for them. God it hurt to love you two.

Let's talk crack ships because oh how they break your heart. But it is glorious. This one is mine. Spoilers if you haven't seen the episode

Starting the episode off we see Brainiac putting a device on Superman's head and later explains it as the Black Mercy.

The Black Mercy makes its first appearance in Superman Annual #11 (1985) [Cover art by Dave Gibbons, yes Watchmen's Dave Gibbons] where it was a plant that grips on to anyone giving them a vision of whatever it is they desire most in life. In the comic, Superman experiences these visions after Mongul attaches the plant to Superman who sees visions of a perfect life on Krypton with his family. Batman, Robin, and Wonder Woman who arrived at the Fortress of Solitude to celebrate Superman's birthday sees this and tries to get the Black Mercy off Superman and face off against Mongul. Lucky the trio were able to free Superman from the Black Mercy and was able to plant it on Mongul who becomes incapacitated and experiences visions of him slaughtering the Justice League. You might have seen this story get adapted in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon as well! Its a very well known Superman story with the Watchmen creative team behind it. The Black Mercy plant was not intentionally used for nefarious purposes, Mother Mercy, the creator of the plants and also a Green Lantern, intended the Black Mercy to be used for those who were dying as a way to ease their death.

The name of the episode is a reference to "The Death of Superman" story arc where Doomsday killed Superman. In the episode we kinda see the death of Clark Kent with Brainiac taking over his body through the Black Mercy

In the episode the Black Mercy works a bit different from its comic counterpart where in MAwS it uses the person's memories and Brainiac is able to alter it. We see flashbacks to various episodes from season 1 and 2. First half of the episode gives us episode 2 from season 1, which I talked about here, episode 4 from season 2, which I explained here, episode 9 from season 1 which I talked about here, and episode 10 season 1 which I explained here

Later in the episode Kara name drops Kandor, the space station that Brainiac, and Kara lived at. I explained Kandor's deal here.

As Brainiac continues his gaslighting, Clark pushes back and shows him what his real memories were like showing Brainiac a moment from episode 7 which I talked about here and here.

But Brainiac still tries to manipulate Clark by altering the things Lois said in the past.

We see flashbacks to moments when Clark felt betrayed like in episode 5 of season 2 and episode 2 season 4 which I talked about here and here. We also see altered moments from episodes 5 and 10 from season 1, which I explained here and here. We also see more altered moments from season 2 episodes 1 and 5 which I explored more of here and here. All this was to break down Clark so Brainiac can take over his body.

When Brainiac takes control of Clark's body, he explains the things the Kryptonians have done, much of these things we're stuff they have done are a references to Krypton's history in post-Crisis on Infinite Earths. In the comics, the Kryptonians were able to stop aging, diseases, and perfected cloning in case of injuries.

Brainiac makes a reference to the title of Rudyard Kipling's "The Man Who Would Be King" which I explained further here.

As Kara fights Brainiac to free his control over Clark, Brainiac bests her, knocking her down to the ground and we get a reference to the infamous Yamcha pose from episode 23 of Dragon Ball Z after he died from Saibamen exploding on him.

And with that we got 2 more episodes til the season is done! Damn I wish there was more, but considering MAwS has given us all killer no filler seasons I'm ok with the 10 episode format! See you all next week for episode 9!

Today, the governor of Louisiana signed a law requiring classrooms in the state to display the Ten Commandments. According to the Republican governor, Jeff Landry, “If you want to respect the rule of law, you gotta start from the original law given which was Moses. … He got his commandments from God.”

Apparently, Governor Landry never bothered to learn that the scholarly consensus is that Moses, if he existed at all, was “largely mythical.” The governor also apparently never reflected on the fact that America is founded on the separation of church and state. In fact, you don’t even have to look at other religious groups to find improvements to the Ten Commandments. There are countless secular alternatives to the Ten Commandments, any one of which would be more appropriate for the classroom.

How exactly was Jon Kent’s introduction handled? Did Clark essentially just bring him out like “hey guys, here’s my 10 year old son I haven’t told you about” ?

Thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about this, because it is Extremely Comics and I love it.

The short version is that Jon and his parents are from another dimension.

The long version is that prior to the New 52 in 2011, Lois and Clark had been married for years, so when that marriage was erased in the reboot, fans were pretty unhappy.

Then in 2015, DC published an event called Convergence. The plot isn't important, but basically they pulled in all these different versions of their characters from different universes: pre-Crisis Green Lantern, vampire Batman, 70s Wonder Woman, etc. And they brought back a LOT of pre-Flashpoint versions of characters. (I've always assumed it was a test to see if they should undo the New 52 and that the answer was a resounding yes.)

And so they brought back the pre-Flashpoint Lois and Clark just for this one event. In the four years since we'd seen the characters, Lois had gotten pregnant, and during Convergence, she gave birth to Jon.

At the end of the event, the pre-Flashpoint world was destroyed, but the Lane-Kent family was able to travel to the New 52 universe. Of course, the New 52 universe already had a Superman and Lois, so the pre-Flashpoint Clark and Lois decided to just...live like normal people, which they'd never been able to do before. They changed their last names to White and moved to California to raise their son in peaceful anonymity.

So Jon spent the first 10 years of his life in California as Jonathan Samuel White, and has no idea that he's from another dimension, that he's half alien, or that his father is Superman. But then his powers start to manifest, and it turns out it's really hard to keep a secret from a kid with X-ray vision, super hearing, and Lois Lane's smarts. Eventually, his parents have to 'fess up.

Here is the key point: when the Lane-Kents came to the New 52 universe, they arrived 10 years in the past. So if that story took place in 2015, when it was published, they actually arrived in 2005. Meaning that Jon developing his powers at 10 is happening in the present day. Does that make sense?

Soon after this, the New 52 Superman dies, and pre-Flashpoint Clark is like, "Well, someone should be Superman," so he puts his costume back on and introduces himself to the Justice League/the world as the Superman of another dimension.

A bit after that, the 2016 Rebirth reboot happened, which was deliberately designed to push DC canon closer to pre-Flashpoint canon.

Then the New 52 Lois also dies, and pre-Flashpoint Lois is like "I guess I'll just go to the office and pretend to be her," which is wild because she is at least 10 and probably more like 15-20 years older than New 52 Lois. Lois Lane ages like fine wine: confirmed.

THEN Mr. Mxyzptlk kidnaps Jon and traps him in a featureless void and makes his parents forget he exists. In that void, Jon encounters the souls of the dead New 52 Clark and Lois and accidentally swaps them with his parents. Then he yells "NO YOU LOVE EACH OTHER" until they remember who they really are and merge with their pre-Flashpoint counterparts to form new, cohesive versions of Lois and Clark who are simultaneously from the current universe but also have been married for years and love their son.

This also, you know, just casually reboots the universe so that everyone remembers Lois and Clark having been married with a kid for years. So Jon was incorporated into continuity as a 10-year-old, but then the rest of his life was retconned into existence so that, like, Perry and Jimmy remember holding him as a baby and stuff. (And Jon has no memory of living as Jon White or anything like that.)

Anyway, very straightforward and normal, not completely bonkers at all.

3. due to this, apollo and midnighter never have their marriage or dating or adoption of jenny q. ever retconned. due to this, their backstories are the original. due to this, swift and the doctor are never retconned. due to this, the authority is still functioning but go semi-retired because honestly they deserve a break. they show up for world ending or multiversal ending events and also specific things they want to be involved in but aren't present for every single event.

4. due to this, tim is still red robin and never goes back to robin. he either sticks with red robin or explores another identity (my vote for fanmade is blackbird based off red-winged blackbird, which is a bird family still somewhat related to robins). ummm. timkon happens (timives first and they date and then have a cordial breakup inspired by rimi's idea i love it).

5. i bring back garth. love you booboo. he mentors kaldur who gets to become the new aqualad under garth's tutelage.

6. because of this, oracle babs wheelchair forever. you will have to pry it from my clammy disabled hands and if you do, i will bite.

7. dick goes back to living in new york city, perhaps the place he left when he moved in with starfire. tim bothers him there. it's beautiful.

Having opted to stay in this evening for date night, Victoria wondered what Ethan had planned. He always suggested fun ideas but Victoria usually found herself out exploring Boston. This time, she was in her own home.

The meal was delicious having opted for a spaghetti bolognaise, there was just the right amount of flavour in the meal. It was definitely better than going out and spending a lot of money. Whilst the Ramsey’s weren’t struggling for money, they still liked to spend it wisely.

The deal this time was that Ethan would choose the meal and Victoria would choose the activity afterwards. Ethan thought that would mean going to the bedroom, however Victoria had other ideas.

She had found the Monopoly board game in a toy shop in the city centre and knew she had to instantly buy it. Victoria hadn’t played the game in years but she thought now would be the time to start introducing Ethan to some childhood memories. She kept it in her part of the wardrobe until she had a good opportunity to bring it out. Tonight was the perfect night and Victoria couldn’t wait to show Ethan what she had bought.

“I think it’s time to stop leaving you in suspense.” Victoria winked.

“I don’t even think you’re planning what I want you to plan. But I want to be proven wrong.” Ethan said.

“I think you’ll like it either way.” Victoria got up and headed into the bedroom. She got the game out and headed back to the living room.

Ethan laughed when he saw what was in her hand. “You really know how to excite me.”

“It doesn’t take much, let’s be honest.”

“Why Monopoly? Where did you find one and how much did it cost?”

“A shop in the city. They did all different kinds of old board games and I thought it would be fun.”

Victoria set up the game in front of them. It was just like reliving her childhood. She loved seeing all the pieces and cards and the board game had that familiar smell of a Sunday evening as she knelt on the floor and played with her family.

“Do you remember how to play?” Ethan asked with amusement in his eyes.

“Of course. This was a tradition in my house. It’s like I’ve played it all the time. I haven’t for years, but hopefully I’ve still got it. It was always fun as a kid.” Victoria smiled.

Ethan took ahold of the instructions. “Well to be sure, let’s read through the instructions.”

“Oh Ethan-“

“No no. If we’re going to play, we’re going to play it properly. No cheating and definitely no bending the rules. I don’t want any Clarke tactics.” Ethan replied.

“I’m a Ramsey now. Or did you forget?” Victoria held her hand up, her rings glistening in the living room light.

“Never forget. But I know where these tactics came from. And they’re not allowed in the Ramsey house.” Ethan said.

Victoria rolled her eyes. “Fine. Have it your way then.”

It took Ethan around 10 minutes before he finally got through the instructions booklet, Victoria decided that he had deliberately read it out to annoy her as she got up halfway through to make a drink and he followed her to the kitchen.

Victoria started the game. It took a while to get going for both her and Ethan but they were soon laughing once they got into it. Victoria took great delight in counting the money that was dished out. It was something she did as a child and she loved doing it as an adult.

“You’re enjoying this way too much.” Ethan chuckled.

“I am. But it’s all part of the fun. I wonder if there are any other versions.” Victoria grabbed her laptop.

“Do we really need more than one?” Ethan asked.

“You can get lots of different versions! Or maybe we should buy more games. Maybe I’ll get you into chess.” Victoria laughed.

“Hell will freeze over before I do that.” Ethan said.

“What about checkers? Or trivial pursuit? Dominos? How about marbles! I used to have a set as a child and I loved building them.”

“I have a feeling our bank account is going to be taking a hit.” Ethan laughed.

“It’ll be worth it. We’ll have fun. That’s all that matters.”

And for the next few weeks, Ethan and Victoria found new games to try. These ranged from battleships to cards and marbles to checkers. At times, it was a lot more fun than going out.

Nights out turned into nights in. They would order a pizza and have a bottle of wine. It was certainly less expensive, although Ethan would disagree given how much they had spent on new games. He did insist on making sure that all the rules were followed and there would be no changing them under any circumstances.

“Cards against humanity? Wherever do they come up with these ideas?” Ethan said.

“They do different versions of this one too. You’re not gonna like some of these answers.” Victoria laughed.

He found out he didn’t. Ethan much preferred chess. At least he could be taught how to play that. He much preferred marbles although grumbled every time his one lost.

“I think we’ve exhausted the world with every game possible.” Ethan collapsed on the sofa one evening after a long game of Pictionary.

“I still can’t believe you agreed to that one. That took some persuasion.” Victoria giggled.

“Anything to make you smile.” Ethan laughed.

“All in a days work. I can’t believe you’re that tired. Maybe I didn’t work hard enough?” Victoria wondered.

“Oh you did work hard. Although, I know another activity that will tire us both out.” Ethan grabbed Victoria.

“Oh yeah? And what would that activity entail?” Victories grinned.

“Why don’t you let me show you?” Ethan said.

And he picked up his wife and carried her to the bedroom, her laughter ringing out throughout the house.

If Ethan is going to play a game, he’s going to take it seriously lol

Gregor would be a dust phantom in these which informs how he interacts with some characters. He and Chris are the only ones who can directly converse with Mon whenever. Gregor would still have an edge to him and have the whole complex he had in the original story - amplified by the fact that he is currently in some half-dead half alive state due to his powers

Johny would be jealous of other people still having their powers. Johny and Gregor would argue the most out of all his siblings but he's closest to Gregor

Cir would mostly be how she acted in the original run. No Mia though since they were somehow able to split apart so Cir tries out different secret identities but she's not very good at it despite everyone's help. She's probably the most positive one here

Jon Lane. he's mostly the same, still has some edge after development, Cir and Jon Lane found themselves in the same plane of non-existence and were somehow brought back idk. Anyways he mostly keeps to himself since he feels guilty about his past

Secundus: give him all of Kon & Jonathan's insecurities multiplied by 10. Since he's kind of a combination of both AND there's plenty of other people who'd accept being Superman

Chris Kent: he still has abandonment issues. Due to Nightwing powers he can directly talk to phantom zoners without the phantom zone viewer.

Jonathan Samuel Kent: feels a bit awkward about all this. The Ultraman thing happened so he has trauma from that. the others don't understand why he went with Jor in the first place. Jealous of the twins the most

Otho & Osul: still have Warworld trauma. still a bit worried about the old god thing. they tend to get along with everyone well, but all their siblings have hangups with how Clark handled being a parent or how Clark wasn't able to be a parent to them, which leaves them a bit confused on how to feel about their siblings

Thara Gem-Zee; likes learning about Kryptonian history, which is why she likes talking to Ak-Var who lived on Krypton before it blew up

Don-El; he's more serious and tries always being professional. Unfortunately he's also the first to suspect Ak if there's any a slightest chance of Ak-Var becoming a criminal again, which is unfortunate for Ak-Var

Rad-Zee; generally keeps to himself in a lab. doesn't like Van's twins because of their shenanigans

Kara Zor-El: more brash than Clark. Due to having both sets of parents alive and being in a different city, she doesn't visit often. More likely to be seen in Kandorian or Kryptonian celebrations than Earth ones though sometimes her whole family visits Clark's on Earth holidays

Judy/Equila gained her powers back and her grandparents started living on Earth as well. They take care of Judy while Kara is busy since Judy likes being with Kara

Clark's siblings (& their kids):

Cory Renwald; since he's a government agent, he's usually busy. Doesn't know Clark is Superman, but knows they have a connection. Trusts Clark's judgement on things, but feels Clark's too much of a goody two shoes. Doesn't really visit due to being busy but he'll try if he has time

Kral of Titan: succeeded in his revolution on Titan, which feels awkward for him since he feels guilty about thinking of betraying superboy (clark). Since everyone's a telepath on titan, everyone there knows this, but they built a statues to honor him anyways. Also learned that the temperature control gene is recessive (this is to connect it better to losh). Tries visiting often to escape the awkward situation he put himself in, but has to deal with making sure things don't go back to how it was during Clark's Smallville days

Kathy Warren; busy with Cadmus work usually. Doesn't feel like she has to hide her super intelligence anymore and feels like Cadmus has people she can relate to that don't alienate her

Kon-El; tries to be his own man, still has some of the complexes he's had before but he's getting better at handling them. Specifically remembers the Kents being alive so it's weird that he finds that in this continuity they're dead

Martha: time travel brings a future version of the baby that Kon was co-parenting on gemworld. She feels like Kon abandoned her. Kon can't really argue against that

Mighto/Tim Tate: Blames Clark/Kal for the death of his parents. Generally unpleasant to be around. More reserved on the Kents' death day (most of Clark's siblings meet up at their graves), Mighto does not attack on that day, despite all his flaws, Tim loved the Kents

Varl Quoz: Sometimes either he or the Kents/Els travel to Xenon though they make sure they always have enough fuel and spare parts to travel to and from it. The former weakling world is also used for people to live on. Varl and Kal get along well but due to Clark's privacy, the rest of the family is unsure of the whole situation (Varl explains later during their second or third vacation there)

Mon: he's still stuck in the phantom zone. Sometimes he makes asides, or attempts to help the family. Gregor and Chris are closest to him due to actually being able to talk whenever with him. Mon is grateful for this since this means he has more to do than absolutely nothing

Halk Kar: a bit insecure due to having lesser powers than Superman and thinking he was stronger when he thought he was Superman's brother. Is usually space traveling so he only visits on rare occasions

Mae: generally the same, except she lives with Linda. also in this continuity she's made by this universe's Lex (he was using an alternate identity) & Kathy while they were both working at Cadmus

Linda: generally the same except she keeps the Earth Angel powersTwilight: lives with Linda and Mae. uses her darkness powers similarly to how the Earth Angels use their powers (wings and blasts)

Blithe & Comet: live with Linda & Mae

Ariella: raised mainly by Linda and Mae. she's worse than Van's twins in how much chaos she can cause, which is, at least one of, the reasons why the others live with Linda and Mae

H'El: hates clones. has super op powers. Respects Jor so he doesn't attack on days that Jor-El discovered something which luckily is a lot of days. nobody likes him which makes him even mopier. Sometimes he crashes on someone else's couch just to angst about it and complain about everything. everyone else here finds him annoying

Rogol Zaar: everyone else here hates him - including Mighto and H'El. it's because he's the only one that doesn't care for Jor or the Kents (Mighto thinks you should respect your parents; despite H'El's breakdown he still is kryptonian and respects Jor). He is never invited

Lanes:

Lois: rash and more bold. Takes charge

Sam: war criminal

Lucy: somehow a combination of post-IC, Pre-crisis & Post-crisis Lucy. I'll figure it out. Anyways she has supernaturally white hair due to some jimmy olsen stuff that happened. In the end she married Ron and has a son with him

Sam Troupe: friends with the super kids, most notably john and chris. Is really confused about everything since john and chris are suddenly older than him, so he hangs out with the super-twins now

Leonardo: has a bit of a rivalry with Cory. Cory tries to ignore it

Legion stuff:

Laurel Kent manhunter and Laurel Kent real person coexist. the manhunter decides to be an antihero and later hangs out with Dev-Em

Kent Shakespeare: generally how he acts in 5YLXTC and Jonathan Samuel Kent cousins that bicker; idk I'd have to think more about it

Due to Bruce not only being older than her but one year ahead of her, he ended up graduating before her. They didn’t end up meeting each other again for another 10 years at a banquet involving the medical field.

30 - (when she met bruce) - She met Bruce again around this time at a banquet of sorts. He honestly had forgotten her for a moment till she had reminded him of her name. She looked quite different then when they were in college. After that they kept in contact. Especially because of her ties to criminal and forensic science.

40 - (Currently in timeline) - Around this time they would have been dating for at least a decade. Married after 5 years. They would have been a temporary break up in between due to some emotional conflict but they evental stay stable. In this time she also switches careers and becomes a surgeon.

They stopped having contact with each other after highschool however because she ended up going off to college and moving to gotham after. They don’t end up seeing eachother again until they run into each other during one of Mala’s family visits.

BIOGRAPHY

{Birth~Highschool} Maliaka Davis was born and raised in the Smallville, Kansas area where she was born from a Veterinary and a Lawyer. Many of her family are of successful roots and/or involve themselves in law so it was no surprise that she ended up taking interest in forensic science. Because of this career path she strived herself with pride and consistently put herself up to high expectations resulting in her not having much of a social life up till high school. It was until she met Clark Kent and started connecting more with her grandmother that she started to break free of her toxic lifestyle and live more free. In the process learning about the legendary Kaskara that was passed down through generations. By the time she graduated high School however she still followed her roots to becoming a forensic scientist and accepted a scholarship to a prestige college outside of the Kansas area.

{College Years} Living outside of state would end up being a huge change in her life as it would be the first time she would end up being away from her family for such long periods of time so she had to learn for the first time in her life how to make decisions based on her instincts and logic rather than what she would think her parents would say. This would of coarse take a long time to process as she would try to do what she thought her parents would do but realized that as a college student and an adult that the ways of her parents were not always logic to every situation and that decisions were best made when you consider what is best and safe for you rather than what she thought would be right.

In the process of her new found thought process she would end up befriending a man named Bruce Wayne who, despite being more in the socialite part of society was a kind and considerate man. They weren't really close at the time however, they do become comfortable enough to help each other with homework on occasion and secretly meet up at each other's dorm. Other than that they weren't so close as to know each other's favorite thing from the back of their hand and their history of their life. Matter of fact Malaika knew very little about the situation of the Waynes as her family were not much gossip consumers. Especially due to her Mother being a lawyer and didn’t like being influenced by the media when it came to her own work.

In the process of all this she would also end up taking classes in swordman ship and several combat styles such as Nguni stick-fighting and Musangwe. She would learn these from her cousins who lived outside the city of where her college is and still lived by the traditions that her grandmother had told her about during her high school years.

{Graduation ~ Now} Bruce ended up graduating 2 years before Malaika so by the time they graduated they lost contact with each other. Especially because during this time period Personal cell phones and computers were a new and experimental thing so calling or emailing were not an easily accessible thing. Especially to a Richman. However after graduation Malaika would end up moving to metropolis were she would rekindle her friendship with Clark Kent who she ends up having an off and on flirty relationship for 5 years . However they never really end up dating as he would eventually get into Lois Lane who he would end up dating at some point throughout Malaika’s time living there. Things would eventually get complicated however with the two as the thin line through romantic interest and desire start getting complicated between the three. Luckily this would end not only due to Malaika having to put her foot down but also eventually moving out to Gotham as more work was offered there. Upsetting to Clark it would end up putting a hold on their friendship.

Moving out to Gotham would eventually change her life especially due to the high amount of crime. This was once again another life change for Malaika as despite being a forensic scientist Metropolis crime was never to the extent that Gotham had, especially when it came to death of this caliber. However despite all this she still tried to continue to have a positive life out there. Continuing to practice Nguni stick-fighting and Musangwe for her own protection. In the process of all this, due to her good reputation and her being really good at her skills she ended up getting invited a lot to banquets and rich world activities. One of them ends up leading to her old college friend, Bruce wayne.

As a result of this new rekindled friendship they ended up learning much more about each other, even having Malaika learn more about the Wayne's' past and what his goal for Gotham is. Due to this she ends up appreciating him more and oddly ends up having a 3 year long friendship, unknown to his true identity who she was also helping solve cases behind the scenes with Gordan. Eventually a year in she would find out he was Batman. This of course ends up putting a hold on their friendship, but she eventually ends up accepting this factor of his life and devolves it into a romantic relationship. At some point she would introduce him to her life as a Kaskara wielder and she would teach him some of these and she would eventually, herself, get into the life of being a crime stopper. However, not being as active as ‘Batman’ and the others. As for their relationship during this time, they would end up having their ups and downs but they would eventually get married and live a life of being crime fighters and lovers.

She would end up rekindling her relationship with Clark, who she would be forced to find out was superman. She speculated but like most she rarely saw superman up close like Lois so she never could make parallels to their looks.

Salina Kyle and Malaika have a frenemies like relationship to Selina being Bruce's former lover. Malaika usually does not let jealousy get to her but she is aware that she was there for him before Malaika ever was. She missed a chunk of Bruce's life where Selina was so she wasn’t as emotionally connected to Bruce pass as Selina was. Something that Bruce would eventually express was a good thing.

When it came to the boys there relationship was less odd then it was with Bruce other lovers as she wasn't around the same age as them. So it was easier to see a motherly role to her compared to the others who felt weirdly like sisters than anything. Regardless they weren't really looking for a motherly role to begin with but it was nice to have someone else be home other than Alfred and the collection of animals they had. It makes the house less empty on certain days and she's able to make things more interesting with her own family traditions and foods.

Malaika is mixed with several different African Nationalities but her mothers side of the family specifically comes from Eritrea. Her father's side are African Americans who have been there for several decades so the origins are lost to him.

Sorry it took long to get to this @pin-crusher2000 but Ill try answering it as thoroughly as I could ;-)

1) If we talk about the StarKnights, as of this writing, Jasper Logan has a small budding crush in Mar’i that’s been there ever since the two were little though she doesn’t notice it even after all this time. Jai (like he does canonically at this moment) has a small innocent crush on Maxine Baker, the daughter of Animal Man and the Avatar of the Red. Cerdian might not have a full blown crush on anyone just yet but there’s a tight platonic bond he has with Robert Long. If it does develop in romantic feelings, they’ll kick in sometime when the two are starting high school.

2) As per usual since he’s often close to Chris, Jon Kent is also considered akin to an honorary Grayson of sorts. While not formally taking complete training from Dick, Jon often accompanies Chris when the latter attends another superheroics lesson. In addition, he has a good friendship with Mar’i and is considered an honorary Tomorrow Titan with all his interactions with them and the amount of times he’s step in to help out.

3) Maybe the whole Agent 37 stuff for Dick….yeah for one thing even if he did get captured by an alternate evil version of the Justice League (in this case the Earth 3 Crime Syndicate), for one thing he’s not getting his secret identity revealed to the world and even if he’s force fed a heart paralyzer pill by Lex Luthor to get him off a universe destroying device, he’ll let everyone in the hero community know he’s perfectly a okay and he can resume his Nightwing duties without any issues.

Basically undo that whole silly nonsense of needing to go into hiding as a super duper secret agent and leaving everyone else in the dark about where’s he at until they have to find out themselves cause seriously he didn’t need any of that.

4) Very similar to the comics basically of his powers starting to kick in when he’s around 9-10, starting with enhanced hearing and durability followed up with his heat vision (though he would not accidentally fry the family pet Cat, Goldie cause I admit the way they handled that little plot element in the course of the Rebirth was a bit tacky) then comes in super strength and ability to leap great distances. Afterwards he’d sneeze out his freeze breath before being able to control it. Finally he’ll gain the ability of full flight. Of course these are developments that even in a scenario with Chris Kent present, Lois and Clark were still not entirely prepared for since while Clark and Chris had their powers from basically the onset or at least at a very early age, Jon was a relatively late bloomer. Nonetheless they were able to adjust and help him control said powers.

5) Chris: Easily returning to his life under his broth Father and helping him ruthlessly conquer the Earth, betraying everyone he lives and cares about, culminating with seeing himself as Lor Zod incinerate Dad Clark, his brothers, Jake and finally impaling Thara which gets him snapping awake and screaming in utter terror and tears.

Jake: Similarly simple yet still as haunting, rather than possible scenarios, it’s a full blown flashback to his fateful duel with Victor Zsasz and reliving all those pounding brutal hits with that crowbar and all those painful slashes and stabs with that rusty butcher knife, all over his pinned down self as his family and the kids still alive in their cages all watch. He snaps awake at the vital moment Zsasz lunges his blade right into the appendix region, causing to Jake gasp fully awake while instinctively clutching onto his side where his appendix used to be. Even if it doesn’t actually hurt…he can vividly remember when it did.

6) Despite the numerous close calls and even Jake confronting Zsasz after that particular incident with his emotions rising an all time high, nope the Duo haven’t taken another’s life and they have strong desires to not do so.

Okay so I just watched Heroes and Huntsman part two and we'll I have opinions. Again. Also This is pretty much composed of a rant I sent to my friends As soon as the credits rolled so I'm sorry if this is a bit everywhere.

Firstly, they fixed the problem with Yangs characterization. Pretty much in volume 8 - 9 maybe even 7-9 it was like the writers forgot that SHE IS RUBY'S SISTER!! Like everyone was so obsessed with the bees that they forgot RUBY TRIED TO OFF HERSELF. Which I know I mentioned on her already but it just bothered me so much. And like in the latest season Ruby was going through her trauma arc and it was like no one gave a shit. Like Yang did not give up her entire childhood to take care of Ruby only to shrug off when she drinks a cup of poison.

And I'm sure there is no way Yang wouldn't go fucking crazy in that scene because (1) THAT'S HER SISTER (2) SHE GAVE HER LIFE TO PROTECT HER (3)SHE'S HAD AN ENTIRE ARC ABOUT HER BEING SCARED HER LOVED ONES WOULD LEAVE HER. And guess what? RUBY WAS READY TO WILLINGLY LEAVE HER. It was like the writers were like "okay so we either have gf Yang or Sister Yang" INSTEAD OF REALIZING THAT THEY ESTABLISHED EARLIER THAT A LOT OF HER FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIPS IMPACTED HER ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS.

But in the new movie we got cute scenes of Yang not knowing how to talk to her little sister to establish how worried she is for her, While also getting scenes of Blake expressing how much she loves her. And even as a bonus we get to see her going back to her original pattern of being the one to take on everyone's problems or to just give a pep talk and listen with her talk with Berry. We finally got to see her not having to give up one part of her for another or ignoring one characteristic to emphasize a different one.

Not to mention Ruby! They characterized her so well in this movie. Like you can tell she's trying so hard for things to go back to notice but she just has so much shit and baggage weighing on her. She claims that she's better yet she running blindly into danger. It's like just because she's no longer actively trying to die (hopefully) she's still not fully sold on living, so instead she's taking down leviathans blindly wailing her scythe around claiming that it's confidence but it's just a death wish. Like I wanna get into her conversation with Clark but real quick one more Yang rant.

There was this scene towards the end of the movie where Yang was finally expressing how much she's worried about Ruby and she's about to start raising her voice when Blake puts a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. LIKE THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!! SHOW HER AS A CARING SISTER WHILE ALSO ACCEPTING HELP FROM HER GIRLFRIEND!!Back in season 7 Blake was empathizing more with Ruby than her own sister and it just made no sense to me. Okay sorry Back to Ruby so she has this conversation with Clark that is absolutely stunning because I just love their dynamic and the added ability of him being able to understand her pain is just amazing. And he says this one line that's basically like "I try not to dwell on my parents too much because I know that they wouldn't want me to join them too soon" and like I just love that line because it's exactly what she needed to hear and when she promises Yang "I won't be joining anyone too soon" as Clark is watching approving from the side!!!!

Like it's such a simple movie but it's just soo much better than then the volume before in my opinion, and I'm so glad that it wasn’t the last we'd see of the team even if they don't greenlight volume 10. Also the struggles with Whise and Barry was also so good but I'll save that for another day. The only thing I'd say I'm disappointed about is Blake Yang and Diana scenes because in part one they made the absolute entire movie for me. Oh and als GIVE BLAKE HER CAT EARS BACK sorry I just missed them so much throughout the movie 😭😭
