Yes to all. We don’t have time for a Sydluca vs Sydcarmy HS 🔺and sooo many loose ends that we need to prioritize:

1- get $ and save the restaurant

2- come clean and reconcile

3- win the star and realize that wasn’t the real reward

For me, in S4 I want to skip all jealousy subplots and just get into Syd’s interior life and what she wants or wanted from Carmy. They have a lot to show/say they’ve been holding back about Syd’s interior life and backstory.

It’s bad enough Shapiro is poaching her but the real thing is: why can’t she tell Carmy what’s up? The most obvious answer is that she has grown to love him. She had a panic attack and Luca was right there and Chef Terry in her kitchen, and guess who was on her mind the most? She was acting carefree before that.

Syd is set up to be in financial trouble with the bad credit and debt, now having an apartment lease, on deferred pay, and Carmy isn’t good at running a restaurant or finances and The Bear is about to lose its backer. All those people will be out of jobs if it’s not resolved.

All Carmy has left is to finally put his heart out there, which he’s already done symbolically when Syd ate the blood orange Hamachi dish.

There’s so much more mess to deal with beyond predictable jealousy subplots, like Carmy getting square with Donna and Richie, their parents’ reactions to what is going on, the disaster wedding on the horizon, the franchising of The Beef which was discussed and never followed up on, and them both deprogramming from fine dining and getting back to what their original plan was at the end of S1.

I want real meaty stuff for Syd, to showcase her emotions, and real reconciliation and clarity being portrayed between her and Carmy after all the legerdemain of S3.

My ultra specific wishlist for season 5 which will probably never make it to screen, and will just have to live in my brain forever:

This is long.

- post getting some of the miraculous back, ladybug needs to use pigella's power on chat noir, to see his happiest memory. What do you know, it's the oblivio kiss he thought he forgot, but the fact that he forgot doesn't change that it was the happiest moment! They BOTH get to watch the kiss they forgot AAAAAAH. And the reactions on their faces would be priceless. Him simply getting to see it. Her realising "shit, I guess I did love him already" but being *happy* about it.

- even better?? A complete slam dunk, if you will? Chat Noir uses pigella on LADYBUG and SHE flashes back to the oblivio kiss. He now knows for sure she loves him. Even better, they both look like they're actually gonna kiss again before they're interrupted.

- ladybug realising "hang on, if we were about to change back when we got obliviated, that means I kissed him after I knew his identity."

- chat noir letting slip that he was actually cat walker, and Ladybug having a crisis similar to ephemeral, not knowing who he really is because he was so convincing. Also ladybug flashing back to when they hung from the parachute and she clung to his waist, and blushing.

- ladybug tells chat noir about chat blanc. This only happens when it slips out in an argument, and it makes him finally realise that she does love him, too, but that even she doesn't know.

- or chat noir overhears ladybug tearfully telling alya about chat blanc

- parallel to chat blanc, ladybug tells chat noir "you'll always be chat noir to me" to cheer him up. But somehow, there's recognition in his eyes.

- chat noir gets flashes of the future that never was, when he was chat blanc. He finally remembers what they'd have called the hamster!! He remembers ladybug wiping his tears. He remembers that he knew her name, but it drives him crazy that he can't remember.

- they flashes of get deja vu that are actually remnants of an erased timeline. -> ADRINETTE FLASHING BACK TO THE BRIEF MOMENTS OF HAPPINESS THEY HAD WHEN THEY WERE TOGETHER!! It's triggered by when they do something similar.

- chat noir looks into the mirror and for a split second sees chat blanc.

- ladybug sees chat noir looking dejected and compares it to chat blanc with the same expression on his face. "i could never bear to see you being forced to live in a world without everyone you love", she says. And this triggers an epic love conversation where he comes eerily close by saying, "even if I were akumatised, i would still love you. Even if the world would end, i would still love you. "

- ok I realise this is a lot of Chat Blanc, but seriously that has so much potential.

- an identity reveal by accident. It happens when one thinks the other has gone, and detransforms so they can break down and let it all out. Except they haven't really gone, of course.

- parallel to chat noir comforting ladybug at the end of season 4, and to the erased future he reveals himself in the rain, we get ladybug comforting chat noir after he just looses it.

- ladrien scene where adrien wears the beret and Ladybug compliments, accidentally revealing that she gave it to him. Adrien finally pieces it together that HOLY SHIT IM THE BOY LADYBUG LOVES. And this makes him deliriously happy until he goes, um, hang on. How am I supposed to get out of this? And he feverishly tries to plan with plagg, while plagg is just dying inside.

- marinette realising that ladybug is the girl adrien accidentally admitted to loving, dancing around the room. This also leads to adrien discovering he's the boy lb loves.

- plagg and tikki meet regularly as the only free kwami left, gossiping about the love lives of their heroes. Plagg even seriously considers plotting to get them to find a way to reveal to each other because he's just so SICK of adrien's density. They make a fun reference here to the erased timeline where tikki was telling marinette it's good adrien's chat noir.

- an underwater near-kiss. Like, they have to suddenly swerve aside to avoid a boat or something, but as they float weightless their faces come reeeeeally close for a few seconds, and she blatantly looks at his lips.

- one of those body slams where they *actually* look like they want to kiss, but they're interrupted. Unfortunately for them it ends up on the ladyblog. Marinette confronts alya and she's like "well you didn't say anything about future photos!'

- adrien has a scrapbook dedicated to ladybug but Gabriel just thinks he's a hardcore fanboy. That is until he starts being suspicious.

- chat noir talks to an actual cat, ladybug sees and is like 🥺🥺🥺. he tells the cat "I'm her favourite cat, actually" as if it's something to be proud about. They both purr.

- adrien punches Felix and Felix is casually like "oh so you're in love with ladybug". Adrien stutters, but Felix is clearly thinking back to their times as a group when Chat Noir looked jealous of him. So there's that identity figured out. But for now he implies "oh yeah you're a big fanboy".

- Felix lets slip he knows who hawk moth is but he won't tell them for reasons.

- after figuring them out, Felix causes romantic drama for funsies

- lady noir can't go home so they have to stay out all night and camp in close proximity, watching the other sleep. They tell each other DnMs, trying to be careful about identity. eventually one falls asleep and watches the other content.

..... that's all I've got for now? Told ya it was *ultra* specific.

My sketchpads are off-white and textured for watercolor pencils! I use Pilot pens for inking, and these pencils for sketching!

Manga Master List: Recommendations and My Personal Wish List

Below is every manga from my amazon wishlist I would recommend(as of February 11 2021) with a picture and a 3-5 sentence explanation of what the manga is about. Underneath will also be the number of volumes I have read, the number I own, and it’s status of ongoing or complete and how many volumes it has. This way you can decide for yourself if you think I have read enough of it to give an accurate recommendation.

This list only includes manga you can purchase (including digital purchases) from the wishlist. I decided that I would in fact include my personal amazon manga wishlist here and at the bottom for people to buy THEMSELVES a copy of any of these manga they would like. Keep in mind many of these won’t have volume 1 in the list but you should be able to get to the series page from the list. If a manga shows up on the amazon list that I did not include in this one that is because I have not read enough of them(or any of them) to recommend. Ok? Cool, enjoy the list!!

1. The Girl from the Other side is about a little girl living with a gentleman monster. It is a supernatural mystery with beautiful art.

Series: Ongoing at 9 volumes

2. Pumpkin Scissors is a military fantasy about a War Veteran named Randal Oland who joins the pumpkin scissors core to help with war relief and uncover the deep corruption of the government. It is similar in themes to FMA in the sense it appears to be based on a World War, and corruption of government but it more focused on the power of the noble houses in government. There is also a fun science element but it is not as in focus as in FMA. The two but are very very different overall tho. Only 5 volumes were distributed in physical English copies as the publishing company went bankrupt, all others are only available digitally. (I couldn’t get the manga vol. 1 cover to work so the picture above is a poster for the anime)

3. Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun is a slice of life about a bunch of highschoolers. Nozaki is the mangaka of a popular Shoujo manga who uses his personal experiences with friends to create his monthly comic series. It is a fun gender stereotype reversal manga with a large cast of both male and female characters (one could be HC as genderfluid but she’s still canonically female at this time) The manga is one of the easiest to read as the panels are mostly in straight down rectangles so the pages are extremely easy to follow and is very funny.

Status: Ongoing at 12 volumes

4. Yu-Gi-Oh! is well known to be about the card game yu-gi-oh, using magic and myths to further the story, HOWEVER, Yu-gi-oh! is the “Season 0″ of the series it is much darker than to be expected and there is no card game. The Yu-gi-oh most are familiar with is Yu-gi-oh Duelist (just found this out myself) and is the Yu-gi-oh you probably already know. There is no overarching plot to this mini series it is just Yugi fucking shit up playing games and destroying some bullies. I have yet to read any of Duelist as of the creation of this post therefore I cannot recommend it :/

5. The Way of the House Husband is about a former yakuza who gets married and flips his script. He becomes a house husband for his working wife and carries on doing chores and errands while still looking and acting scary unintentionally and getting himself in trouble. It is a slice of life comedy with some adult jokes but is over all extremely funny and pleasant to read.

6. Hikaru no Go is about a highschool boy who finds a haunted Go board. He meets the ghost who once was a prolific Go player. Together they work to become a world class Go champion meeting new people along the way. This series was cut short due to legal issues with a real Go player and therefore will remain unfinished but the story that is there is golden. It is still one of the most popular manga in Japan.

7. Zatch Bell! This manga is about a teenager named Kiyo who gets sent a young boy with amnesia named Zatch Bell who turns out to be an alien called a momodo. Now the two must battle other momodo in order to understand what happened to Zatch and to make Zatch the new king. Along the way they make many friends and save both the momodo and human worlds. This one is difficult because it is a classic that did not do well in America so the volumes are expensive and the series is unfinished in English. You can only buy 27 of the volumes in English and a few of them are almost impossible to find, however it is well worth the money if you can afford it and it is available online.

8. Fullmetal Alchemist is a cult classic most have read it, watched the series, or heard of it at the very least. This is one of the most popular Manga of all time and for good reason. The manga is about 2 brothers Alphonse and Edward on a journey to return their bodies to normal after committing the taboo of human transmutation. The manga has themes of racism, government corruption and manipulation of the military. The versions on my wishlist are the special Fullmetal Editions so they will have a different price point and volume number than the regular volumes or the omnibuses’

9. Princess Jellyfish is about a young woman who is sort of an outcast otaku living with 5 other otaku women. She has a deep love for jellyfish as they remind her of her late mother. She meets a beautiful woman who turns out to be a male college student and slowly comes out of her shell making new friends and growing with old ones as well. This manga is very sweet and I really don’t know what else to say haha.

10. !!!HUGE TW FOR EATING DISORDERS!!! In Clothes Called Fat is a, oneshot, non romanticizing story of an office woman trying to lose weight and developing several eating disorders in the process. She goes through hardships in relationships and bullying as well. It has a bittersweet ending and should be read with caution but it is beautifully done. Please do not read this if you are under the age 16 at the very youngest there are NSFW moments as well as just generally not being a topic for younger audiences.

11. My LOVE Story!! Is an adorable Slice of Life shojo about a highschooler named Takeo Gouda, his girlfriend Yamato, and his best friend and hear throb Suna. This series is rather refreshing as the relationship starts pretty much immediately, the best friend is very supportive, and it is focused on Takeo’s personality over looks as he is often compared in manga to a gorilla or bear. It is a generally heart warming story with some emotional side plots. The ending is sort of sudden but it’s really enjoyable.

12. Soul Eater is pretty popular but if you don’t know what it is about it is about a Weapon named Soul and his Meister Maka. They attend a school that teaches them how to defeat people before they turn into Demons, saving the world in the process. Once a weapon eats 100 evil souls and a witches soul they can become the new death Scythe! That is the plot presented, and it of course goes off into a much more complicated storyline. It is super fun and engaging with a fascinating plot near the end.

13. D. Gray-Man is a little complicated. Similarly to Soul Eater D. Gray-Man is a story based around defeating people turned demon and the saving of the world through an organization, however the plot gets very complicated very quickly. The art is some of the most interesting and beautifully fun art I’ve come across and the characters are (so far as I’ve read) all amazing. The story has a lot of christian influence and is one you have to really keep up with to understand but I recommend it regardless!

14. One-Punch Man is also very popular and is about a man who becomes so strong he only needs to punch you once to completely annihilate you, and it greatly annoys him. This manga greatly touches on the themes of self worth as Saitama becomes a hero that no one seems to want. The fights are fun and engaging, tho at times can be difficult to read. The art is gorgeous, with some of the most heavily detailed work I have ever seen.

15. The Boy and The Beast is the manga adaptation of the movie by the same name. This is a bittersweet story about a boy who finds a family in the land of the beasts and the repercussions of this intermixing. It is sweet and sad and there’s not much else to say, but that it is a beautifully crafted story.

Read: 1 (but I’ve seen the movie and read the light novel)

16. MAR is not a manga I should be recommending as I genuinely don’t think I have read enough of the story to do so but I love it so much I’m going to anyway. MAR is a classic Isekai Shonen, a kid goes through a door into another world and has to fight a war to save it, there is a super fun magic system and some wonderful story building with genuinely enjoyable characters and battles. I am recommending this more based off the anime than the manga itself because it was one of my absolute favorites when I was younger, so take from that what you will! This manga has the same issue Zatch Bell does however, the series did not do amazingly so the volumes can be expensive!

”Venix Savreux. My last name is Mornese, I guess that must be where my mother was from. Its a country a bit to the east of Xanica.” - When is your birthday? Do you know where you were born and at what time?

”I’m actually not sure. I know that my birthday is a few weeks before the first snowfalls, but rangers didn’t really have calendars out in the Wyrmswood.”

- What is your star sign? Do you know your Chinese Zodiac too?

“I don’t know what that means.”

- What is your earliest memory that you can remember?

“My... Mother wiping a bloody scrape on my cheek. I’m really young, can’t be more than 4 or 5? It hurts a lot but I won’t let myself cry. Babies cry, but I won’t. She’s chiding me for getting in a fight, especially with two boys that are bigger than me. But I think a little part of her is proud. They were making fun of me for being a whore’s son.”

- Where was your childhood home? Was it more urban or rural?

“I was born in docks quarter of Esklay, one of the big port cities in Xanica.”

- How was your childhood in general? Did your parents treat you well? Did you have a lot of friends?

“My mother and I didn’t have much. She was a whore, no idea who my dad was, and I wasn’t exactly around there long enough to make friends.”

“Things got a lot better when I joined the rangers though.”

- How was/is school? What is your favorite and least favorite subjects? What were your grades on average?

“I didn’t go to school, but I was trained to be a ranger from the time I was... 8, 9? Something like that. I know I was ranked pretty high among the cadets, I was the top in sword skills, but everyone else that would join my pack was better than me in at least one thing.”

- Did you have a best friend growing up? What was their name? Are you still in touch?

“No, no I’m not in contact with any of them. Vex, Rand, Mako, Velite, Ilia. They.. They aren’t around anymore.”

- Were you in any cliques?

“We were encouraged to become close to small groups, they would become our pack once our training was finished.”

- Best childhood memory you can recall?

“The day my pack became full rangers.”

- Worst childhood memory you can recall?

“... My mom dying.”

- Name an event in your childhood that has shaped you into the person you are today

“Probably the day I was found by the rangers. After my mom died I ran from home, didn’t know where I was going, too young to think beyond getting away. I think it was a few weeks of being on my own, barely surviving on scraps. I guess I was going north, because I eventually ended up in the Wyrmswood. I don’t know how, it’s hundreds of miles from where Esklay is on the coast, must have ended up in one of its southernmost reaches. I.. I ended up passing out around a ranger campfire, barely noticing the people watching me. A lot of lost kids, orphans, bastards, and street rats end up as rangers, but I’ve never heard of any others stumbling on them like I did. Its probably happened, Xanica is pretty big, but I’ve never heard of it. Anyway, when I woke up they fed me, tended to my wounds, and teased my story out of me. I remember one of them asking me if I would like to be strong enough to never let something like this happen again. I took his offer without a second thought.”

- What is the dumbest thing you have ever done to impress someone? Were they impressed or was it all for naught?

“I guess there was a couple times when I was still training that I tried to go off on my own, hunt things I wasn’t ready to to impress our masters. Only took a couple beatings before I stopped doing that though.”

- Did you ever have any sweethearts or lovers? Do you have a boy/girlfriend?

“Not really. I’m on the road a lot, going from place to place. I don’t get time to get close to a girl like that. There is this one bard I seem to keep running into though..”

- Are you a virgin?

“No.”

- Do you ever plan on getting married in your life? Do you want kids?

“I’ve.. never really thought about that. I guess no. Having a family or getting married doesn’t sound like something I can do.”

- Would you rather have your own kids or adopt? How many kids would you want?

“I don’t really have a preference, its hard for my to imagine doing either.”

- Do you think you'd be a protective parent or a relaxed parent?

“I don’t think I’d be a very good one.”

- How would you prefer to pass away? Surrounded by loved ones and at peace, or while doing something heroic?

“Definitely fighting. I want whatever takes me down to remember how much of a struggle it was to kill me.”“

- Generally, how healthy are you? Do you get sick or injured easily or are you fit?

“I do everything I can to stay in peak physical condition. Doing otherwise would mean I end up dead in my line of work.”

- Have you ever been badly injured before?

“Several times. You don’t fight monsters for over a decade without collecting a fair share of scars.”

- What is the worst injury you have ever gotten? What was it and how did it happen? Were you ever close to death?

“This one right here. Those three slashes across my chest? Those are from a Wyrmling. Its like a wyvern but flightless and with four legs. I had to hunt one on my own once. Those claws destroyed my armor, but I would have been turned to paste if I hadn’t been wearing it.”

- How many times have you been to the hospital/doctor's?

“I haven’t been to many hospitals. Those are for sick people, but I’ve had to visit a lot of surgeons and healers over the years to get stitched up or have other wounds treated. I’ve never tried counting how many times I’ve been to those.”

- Have you ever had a concussion or brain injury? Have you ever had amnesia?

“I’ve had more than a few concussions, but I don’t think I’ve ever had amnesia or a serious brain injury, thankfully.”

- What was the worst illness you ever contacted? Do you know what it was? How long were you sick?

“I don’t know what it was, but there was one time that I was stuck in bed for over a week as a child. It happens sometimes to cadets, they weren’t sure I’d survive, but I proved stronger than they expected.”

- Ever had any extended hospital stays? What for?

“Didn’t I already answer this?”

- Have you ever had to give yourself or someone else emergency first aid? What happened?

“Multiple times. Sometimes they lived, sometimes they didn’t.”

- Are you employed? Where do you work and who do you work for? What do you do?

“I guess you could call me a mercenary. Since leaving Xanica I’ve made my living going from place to place dealing with bandits, poachers, and monsters. Once or twice I’ve been hired to stay on a noble’s estates for a season to keep it guarded. Those jobs are boring, but pay best.”

- Are you happy with your current job?

“...No. Most of it is just busywork. I do it because its what I know, because its closest to what I used to do. But I wish I had something more meaningful to use my skills for.”

- Did you have any previous jobs? What were they and what did you do?

“I was raised to be a ranger. Its what I did until leaving Xanica about 2 years ago.”

- Most dangerous thing you have ever done?

“That’s hard to say. I’ve been involved in a lot of dangerous things. The expedition into the Divide might be at the top though.”

- Do you consider yourself a more active person or a more relaxed person?

“Definitely more active. I’m not good at sitting around doing nothing for than a day or so.”

- What is your dream come true? How about your worst nightmare?

“My... My nightmare already happened. My dream would be for my pack to be alive.”

- What is the biggest and most important goal you have set for yourself?

“To never let what happened to the rangers happen to someone else.”

- How persistent would you say you are? How much does it take to get you to give up on a task?

“I’d like to say I don’t give up easy, but I guess I’ve already given in on the stuff that matters.”

- Would you surrender yourself to your enemies or fight to the very end?

“Fight. I won’t run again, not while there is something I can still do.”

- When do you usually do your shopping? What is currently on your shopping list?

“Usually between jobs, or right after I finish one. Right now I need to get myself some new rope, hardtack, my cloak stitched, and a pan for cooking.”

- Top three things on your wishlist?

“Wyvernhide leather cuirass, a pair of those new glyph inscribed boots that resist water, and a warm chocolate mint drink.”

“I don’t know if I like shopping, but I don’t dislike it either, its just something I have to do.”

“My mail shirt. Absolutely worth it, saved my life more than once.”

- What would you do if you were suddenly given one billion dollars out of the blue?

“I’m not sure. I don’t really buy a lot of luxuries. Maybe I would purchase a keep or something? A place to winter at when the roads get snowed over.”

- What would you describe your style of clothing as?

“Practical.”

“I can make simple woodcarvings, I play the flute, and I guess I’ve dabbled in falconry.”

“Eagles, Hawks, and Bears. Most rangers would probably say our spirits are most like wolves.”

“Red, white, and I guess yellow or amber, though that last one is really just with eye colors.”

- What is your favorite season? Do you prefer hotter or colder weather? Do you like snow at all?

“Spring. I can’t stand the snow, it makes it easier to be tracked, and the work always slows down during the winter.”

- What kind of flavors do you prefer: Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Spicy, Dry, or Umami (savory meat taste)?

“Savory is my favorite. I’m not really a fan of sweets aside from fruits. I like mint a lot as well, but I don’t know what that falls under.”

- Can you cook at all?

“Yes. Everyone in the pack took turns cooking. So we all got pretty good at it.”

“I don’t know if I have a favorite, but I do like going to new places and trying their foods.”

“Strawberries and onions.”

“Choclate is just about the only sweet I enjoy.”

“Both are good, as I said earlier I like mind a lot.”

“My skill with a sword. I’ve always been good with a blade. The best of all the rangers in my age group.”

“Everyone pays respect to the gods, but I wouldn’t say I’m really religious. I’ve had to go to a few services when going to priest or nun healers. They usually make that their payment.”

"Tricking my pack into helping stoke the fires of a civil war and then getting them all killed. Anything that’s been said to me doesn’t even come close to that.”

“I’m not really sure. I tend not to talk much unless I have something really worth saying, insults are usually not worth the effort.” “Worst thing I’ve ever done to someone is definitely kill them. I’ve had to kill quite a few people.”

“Garmr. My sword. Over a thousand years old. I’ve heard some people say that its worth a kingdom, I wouldn’t know, and I don’t plan to sell it.”

“Rubio. He’s just a kid, got a lot of heart but a chip on his shoulder too. He’s had a rough start to his life, and I’m hoping to teach him a few things so he can make the rest of it better.”

Summary:

That afternoon, Grace meets a wealthy insurance executive who offers her a sizable art commission. He’s intelligent, interesting, and easy to talk to. His name is Harold.

(A different-first-meeting story, in which Harold ignored the Machine’s attempts to set him up with Grace in 2006, only to receive her number in 2012 after he and John have been working together for over a year.)

Warnings: inexplicit references to child abuse and alcoholism

Art Wishlist: Grace’s paintings and sketches, and her feelings about the art and artists she admires, are pretty important to the story. There are passages where I describe pictures and paintings she’s created, or beautiful objects of various kinds that she and Harold both admire. An illustration of any of that stuff would be amazing, or maybe a kind of Pre-Raphaelite picture of the characters. Also, kingfishers are kind of thematically/symbolically important, and very beautiful, and would make lovely art.

The marks aren't what bring John and Harold together. But they might end up tearing the two of them apart. Warnings: Choose Not to Use Archive Warnings (this fic should be tagged for some of John's suicidal ideation pre-season 1 and in the fic) Art Wishlist: Looking for visual media/graphic design. Since this is a soulmate/soulmark AU, I would be very happy if someone could design the tattoos I have in mind, in their medium of choice. As Harold handles mysterious cases on the outside of their new organization, he works to repair his relationships with both. Sameen, who doubts his commitment, will be hard to convince. Lionel, who bears deep emotional scars, will be impossible. Warnings: Canon typical violence, drug/alcohol use Art Wishlist: I’m super flexible re: medium. I’m very into the idea of space-centric or detail-centric art, as opposed to character-centric art, if that makes sense. Re: space-centric, a lot of the fic is about loneliness and puts the characters in empty, uncomfortable, or sad rooms and the vibe is very like these Edward Hopper paintings, I think. Alternatively, it’s Finch POV and he’s doing a lot of focusing on tiiiiiiny details and significant objects, and I’d love some fancypants studies or edits of those.

He and John go on their walk with Bear, but Harold keeps what he’s feeling to himself. Years later, after all of Team Machine survives the defeat of Samaritan, Harold comes across Edwards and realizes he never talked with John about all of the emotions that number still fosters, specifically regarding Nathan. Root gives him some advice, and they all work on a happiness that encompasses the past, present, and future. Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Art Wishlist: I’m open to anything, from digital art to fanmixes and anything else, really. This is a rinch fic but it’s also basically a Harold character study (entirely from his POV and a lot of internal narrative) so any art could probably focus on him.

John has his happily ever after: got his nursing degree, married a great guy, lives in a beautiful house. Jess is glad. He should be happy with Peter.

When she bumps into the mysterious Harold Finch, who knows too much about everyone, he tells her the unpleasant truth about John's dream marriage. Jess must face up to the fact that John needs her help to find safety and happiness. Warnings: Show level violence, some medical detail as John is a nurse. Art Wishlist: I am open to any medium except audio.

Random info that could mean nothing but 🤷‍♀️ JAW is filming in Newark, NJ today and coworkers met him while they were out on a walk. He was chilling by himself and was super nice. Thanked them for saying hi and said he was there filming a movie, as if the entire state of NJ hasn’t been on high alert.

One of my coworkers said he loved the Bear and JAW said they were filming more seasonS soon. I clarified like 20 times that he said seasonS plural and he swears he did. There is a slight language barrier so still could be a misunderstanding but I’ll take it.

Honestly if they are all coming back to film 3.5 episodes, just keep them there a little longer. They filmed 16.5 in like 16 weeks, they can definitely squeeze out like 6 to 8 additional episodes.

hey, so, some of you guys know, but me and @candy--bear are in a kind of tight spot right now.

we both had to leave our jobs because the company's management was being erratic and threatening, and then after we quit they took money out of our paychecks because they "had to pay others for the shifts (we) didn't work". we're reporting them to WHD but this kind of thing goes at a snail's pace and i don't see us getting the money back very soon.

we've more or less scraped up the $800 for rent + utilities due by 11/4 and have both gotten new jobs but between Zoë's school schedule and us being considered "casual" employees because of the holiday season, even with better pay, we're barely getting hours. we both get paid next week, but I'll have maybe 10-15 hours on it and they'll have maybe 30-40 for the 2 week pay period. I'm looking into getting a second job but this season is crazy and employers love not calling back.

i know everyone's broke and has their own issues, but if you can spare anything, it would be a huge, huge help. we have very few groceries in the house (a couple of sprouted potatoes, pb, pasta, some rice, maybe 1/4 container of oats) and with two people in winter that's not going to prove to last long.

i could use semi-nice clothes for work, the dress code is fairly lenient but we're expected to look nicer. i could also use money for bus fare. we do share a pass but cant both use it so for days the other needs it, we cant go anywhere unless we're willing to walk long distances in the city in the cold.

What general area do you live in? Dominican Republic

How long have you been in the Daredevil/Defenders fandom? Almost a year and a half.

What is your season 4 wishlist? Karedevil (duh!) glowing at its fullest in EVERY sense of the word. Marci and Karen being friends, Marci and N, M & P working together. Lots and lots of N, M & P. Marci and Foggy getting married. Foggy and Matt being badass lawyers. More trials, please. Bullseye, of course. There has to be an amazing villain. Ellison figuring out Matt’s identity but keeping it secret obviously. The Defenders finding out Matt’s alive. A little cameo would be cool too, especially JJ. An all the DD awesomeness that I can’t come up with but Erik O and all the genius writers can. I want the show back!!!!

What is your favorite thing about Karedevil? Jesus, this is the most difficult question! The slow burn, the fact that they are so similar, both broken, flawed, stupid, lonely yet they’d give their lives for the people they love. The angst, the awkwardness, ALL THE FREAKING SPARKS whenever they’re together. Their friendship. How they have helped each other, their arguments, all the softness and how sexy they are together. Their whole arc S1 all the way to S3. I could continue here, but I think you get the idea ;-)

How many Karedevil WIPs do you have? Hahahaha! I am cracking up at this question! Hey, kudos to whoever came up with this one. I have approximately 14 *facepalm*

What are your favorite creations that you’ve done and why?

Reveal(s) - I loved writing this one because of how I had to get in their heads in this hard moment of their relationship (Matt’s confession) and it was inspired by a dear friend’s comment and love for the flashback scene. Plus, angst.

Steps - This one was fun to write because it was supposed to be a one-shot and then a friend prompted me to go on with step 2 and then this happened. It was fun to get in their heads during the rebuilding of their relationship in S3.

12 Midnight - I was suffering writer’s block after the cancellation and had no idea how I would write the secret Santa fic for which I had already signed up because I was so down. With the encouragement/help from some friends, this happened. It’s my longest fic so far and the whole process of writing it was very fun. And my secret Santa liked it which is even more important.

Do you have any advice for other creators? Enjoy the process. Have fun. It doesn’t matter if your idea is not the most original one. Create it anyway. It will be your own way. Find at least one friend you can share your work with beforehand if you’re not sure. Trust me, it’s amazing how helpful and encouraging people in this squad can be. We all love kudos and comments, but that’s not the purpose of this. It’s for fun. And if YOU and at least one more person liked it,  then it was all worth it (And most of the time, a lot of people like it). Yes, I am giving this advice to myself too.

What do you look for in a story? Truth to its characters. I could say a lot more, but I think that sums it up.

Is there something else you’d like from your squad? I’m not on Tumblr or any social media anymore, I’m very in the background, but please know that I miss you all a lot <3 Thanks for keeping the squad going! :)

What are your favorite kinds of prompts: I don’t really have much experience with prompts. What I love to write the most is canon compliant stuff, whether it is things we didn’t get to see in the show or things we could see in the show, if that makes sense. Other than that, anything that comes to my mind. Maybe someday I’ll get creative and write an AU or something like that. 

How do you come up with ideas for creations? Wow. Tough question. From the show. From whatever comes to my mind. Songs. Random quotes. Even gifs have inspired me. Ideas come from everywhere, really. 

What is a fun fact about yourself? I watched the show I think in Feb 2018. I joined Tumblr just so I could see all the nice KD posts that I found on Google which happened to be shortly before the Karedevil Week in August and was FANTASTIC. Met two amazing girls on Twitter who happened to be creators and were also on Tumblr. Then I opened an AO3 account just so that I could subscribe to my favorite authors and bookmark fics. Started interacting with more KD squad members through posts. The S3 hype was HIGH! Ended up writing my first fic inspired by the coffin scene in S3 and I haven’t stopped ever since, although I have had many writer’s block periods ever since the show was cancelled (I barely slept that night). I also have met more incredible people. Bottom line: DD and Karedevil have a very special place in my heart.

How many times do you think you’ve watched the show(s): I don’t know! Not because I’ve seen it so many times, unfortunately (I wish I had the time!), but because for sure it’s only once (generally speaking), BUT I did rewatch S1 almost entirely, and S3… Oh my God… I’ve written a lot of fics based on S3 so I don’t know how many times I’ve rewatched some of the episodes. S3 EP1, S3 EP6 (My very favorite to write about), OBVIOUSLY S3 EP11 (<3), EP 12 and EP 13 are the ones I’ve see the most. Do all the videos from the show on YouTube count? LOL Seriously, with all of that plus the gifs that refresh my memory, and all the meta and endless articles I’ve read, I honestly feel like I’ve seen it a hundred times.

KH4 Wishlist (SPOILERS)

Finished Kingdom Hearts 3 and I have to say its a stellar game.  Definitely the gave we’ve been waiting for years to arrive.  And I’m looking forward to the second installation, though I do have a wishlist.

Below are spoilers for Kingdom Hearts 3.  Do NOT read any further if you haven’t finished the game and/or don’t want to be spoiled.  

THERE BE SPOILERS BELOW!!!!

1.  A Smaller Cast of Characters (excluding World/Disney characters)

    Don’t get me wrong.  I love the characters of Kingdom Hearts, but the problem is that it became congested with too many characters with their own stories and plots.  Some characters are actually extensions of other characters.  Roxas/Ventus/Sora and then there’s Naimine/Kairi.  Not mention Riku/Replica Riku/Darkness Riku and Xehanort/Ansem/Xemnas/Young Xehanort and so on.  You see where it can get confusing.

The cast needs to be reduced by about 75 percent so we have a more simple story that’s not convoluted web of plots and backgrounds.  The best solution to this is to let these ‘cut’ characters retire to their happy endings or be reduced to background or minor characters.  Let Lea/Axel, Xion, and Roxas live happily together in Twilight Town with Haynar and the gang.  Have Ansem and the redeemed members of the Organization do research on Radiant Garden.  Pick a core cast and expand that cast’s backgrounds and slowly introduce new characters. 

 2. New Protagonist

    I might get flamed for this, but bear with me.  I like Sora as much as anyone, but while playing KH 3, his personality grated on me.  I understand he’s the protagonist with the heart of gold and boyish charm, but watching him interact with the other Disney characters was like eating spoonfuls of sugar and washing it down with syrup.  I understand that his ability to make friends with whomever he meets is a special ability that makes him stand out in Kingdom Hearts, but it gets annoying after a while to constantly hear him introducing himself and his companions over and over and over and over and over again and again and again!    

Don’t get me wrong, there were good moments such as when he, Donald, and Goofy jumped on Davy Jones for stabbing will Turner and when he was upset at the idea of losing his friends showed a rare depth of character for him.  .  

But for too long Sora has been like this KH savior with no flaws save for not being as bright as others.  His personality has changed very little since his first introduction way back in the first KH.  In fact, he was more interesting in KH1 because he had self doubts about his capabilities which he overcame to confront Riku and regaining the Keyblade.  

I feel that Kingdom Hearts series is in dire need of a soft reboot, and the best way to do that is to replace Sora as a protagonist.  He’s had a good long run across six games and 17 years, but now it’s time to pass on the torch to another. 

3. Aqua as the Next Protagonist

 I adore Aqua.  She’s a mature, beautiful, talented, brave, and loyal female character in Kingdom Hearts.  My favorite play through of BBS is playing through her storyline and I wish there was more worlds for her to explore.  I enjoyed the scene when she insisted on trying on the glass slipper in Cinderalla’s world to buy time for Jaq to free Cinderella.  When she went to Olympus Coliseum she was flirted with by both Zack and Phil.  

The interactions with other World characters would be far more interesting when the protagonist is a capable young woman and not a ragamuffin boy who gets slotted as the new kid and friends.  

What Aqua has that Sora doesn’t, is that she has more of an edge in her backstory.  She spent ten frickin’ years in the Realm of Darkness!  That has got to carry some scars for our blue haired warrior maiden and it could have even corrupted her.  The experience could have given her PTSD, (GASP!  A female character with PTSD that isn’t the result of sexual assualt?).  She could go on a journey to other worlds to find a way to remove the corruption or to find Sora who has disappeared at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3.   

By extension, Aqua need not go it alone . . .

4. A New All Female Trio

Again, assuming they go with Aqua (or a female protagonist), instead of iconic Disney characters like Goofy and Donald accompanying the lead, let’s have female characters go on the journey instead.  Of course, your first thought would be Minnie and Daisy, but they wouldn’t be well suited as Aqua’s companions.  

For starters, both characters are female version on their love interests.  Hell, they were originally created so Donald and Mickey could have girlfriends.  Besides, both of them are rooted in the Disneyland world with their respected paramours.  The more suitable companions would be Disney women who don’t have love interests tying them down and would make for excellent comrades in battle.

Merida from Brave could offer range attacks and support.  She has a bold spirit with an impetuous nature that could offset the other women and sometimes get them into trouble.  I can see her hopping on a Gummi ship just for the adventure of traveling to other worlds.  

Elsa would be the ‘mage’ of the group with Ice magic.  She would bring diplomacy and calm that could clash with Merida’s fiery personality.  You’d have to convince her to leave Arendelle behind for advantage, since she’s the first Disney Queen who isn’t the mother of a princess nor evil.  

We need more positive female friendships for young girls to emulate.  Setting aside Disney characters, the bromance in Kingdom Hearts has been done to death with Riku/Sora, Riku/Mickey, Sora/Donald/Goofy, and many many others.  Very rarely so we see the female characters together in the same room and hold a positive conversation with each other.  Yes, we know, guys can be the best of friends to each other and girls, but how about we see girls being besties with each other.

5. Maturer Storylines that aren’t so Heart centric       

That being said, let me explain.  As I mentioned before, watching Sora interact with Disney characters has been like eating raw sugar.  It’s sweet, but sometimes it was terribly too sweet.  

When I say mature, I don’t mean Adult Situation, Sexual Content, or Gore and Violence.  I mean a story that deals with darker themes than just the power of friendship.  Just as dealing with loss, betrayal, self-doubt, trauma, and conflicted feelings.  

Aqua could go from world to world to experience an array of emotional problems and come from it a stronger woman, mentally and emotionally, with the support of her companions.  It would give her the strength to overcome her past traumas from her time in the Realm of Darkness.  

We keep getting hit over the head  about Hearts connecting people, which is a powerful message, but good grief, it gets old after a while.  I get it, it’s in the title Kingdom Hearts, but can’t we focus on something other Hearts?  Connection between people is important, but there are other connections other than friendships.  Brotherly or sisterly love, parent/child, rivals, enemies, lovers, comrades, coworkers, etc.   

6. Let the Protagonist have more Influence in the Worlds

In Kingdom Hearts 3, the worlds I enjoyed most were the ones that didn’t follow the central plot in their respective films.  These are all popular movies most people have already seen prior to playing the game and I found myself becoming a little bored when I see the same scenes replay themselves in the game.  

On a side note, I really appreciate the care and detail that Square Enix put into recreating these iconic scenes.  I REALLY REALLY DO!!!  Especially with Pirates of the Carribean.  But I wanted to see more interaction between Sora, Donald, and Goofy and not have them be observers to the story.  In some worlds, they were outsiders looking in, especially in the Frozen world or tag alongs as they were in Tangle and Pirates.  

The best worlds were Monster Inc, Big Hero Six, and Toy Story which didn’t follow the movie plots, but had their own stories for the game.  Sora and gang has better interaction with these groups of characters.  Buzz was suspicious of them, they were practically adopted by the Big Hero Six, and helped Sully and Mike protect Boo and save the company. 

Best moments for me was when Sully and Mike threw Vanitas through the doors and Jack Sparrow’s bad breath sent Luxford overboard.  

  6. World Wishlist

Assuming that I get my dream team of Aqua/Merida/Elsa, these are the worlds I would love for them to explore.

Tron Uprising - it’s still considered canon, though it lasted one season.  I can see Aqua wearing blue circuits, Merida green, and Elsa with yellow. 

Zootopia -  A world with a transformation magic. Aqua is a blue bird, Merida a bear, and Elsa as a snow leopard.

Heroes save worlds and people, but the hero’s journey is about discovering what one is capable of.  Discovering and drawing lines, overcoming challenges and fears, and finding inner strength.  

Let’s see a protagonist learn a lesson from each world she visits and take that lesson into her core and reaches the end of her journey as a stronger person.  Let this journey be one of self-discovery and not just to oppose a growing threat, though it would be alright if there was one lingering in the background.

Aqua’s journey could be to conquer her own darkness, much like Riku had in his own journey.
