people are forgetting that the straight man / comically serious person is a classic comedy archetype. It takes great comedic timing and wit to deliver absurd lines in absurd situations like,

"You cocked it up, you're gonna caulk it out!"

and

"Surge rates, fucko!"

and

"You're a child asshole."

and

"I'm not gonna drop this ass, Richie.."

I have watched comedies where they make fuck up things seem light and funny

How is that in The Bear the comedy serves to make the fucked up situations feel even more fucked up?

The combination of Carmy being too focused and trapped in returning to a more toxic version of himself to care about his birthday + that piñata and Richie singing in Spanish is peak The Bear. Most comedy ever.

something about carmy yelling "GET SYD, GET SYD!!" in the walk-in but getting claire instead and breaking up with her is so funny. and then upon realising he's making dishes based on syd's bandana, that somehow motivates him to take a trip back to the walk-in to try and fix his relationship with claire. but then he fails? 😭
