just wanted to say that i'm seeing headlines everywhere say "floridians rejected an amendment to secure abortion rights" and that is NOT TRUE.

we voted ~57% to enshrine abortion rights in the florida constitution. amendments for our state require a supermajority, aka 60% to pass. this is bullshit and we were set up to fail.

the entire time, our governor Ron Desantis' officials were pressuring and threatening media outlets for publishing anything supporting this amendment.

don't believe the bullshit headlines. floridians wanted abortion rights.

There's an idea going around about how kids should sing the national anthem at the start of the school day. Some people agree for some godforsaken reason but those who don't are literally going "like americans? i don't want to be an american! this is america type shit" And yk what yea. For a country complaining so so so abysmally much about the "american values" that had "poisoned the nation" [usually literally meaning very european values like equality and autonomy but ok], this sure is a strictly american move

My boyfriend was shocked that anyone wouldn't know their national anthem in full, he just assumed I'd know the whole of God Save the Queen King. I had to explain that like, he's Welsh, his culture is extremely big on rugby, Welsh identity and male choral singing, like it's not surprising he knows his but that's not a universal experience.

I know "God save our gracious [monarch]" and that's kinda as far as I can get. Like I know one word more than is in the title. Because it's a fucking awful song that no English person knows and I was raised anti monarchist.
