I want an AU where after Jason gets brought back to life, he channels his inner rage and turmoil into the academics instead of murder

Talia has like infinite money and a crap ton of influence, so she can absolutely get Jason the best tutors and can easily get him into the most prestigious schools if Jason wanted to (she doesn't need to do that though because Jason's just smart enough to get into them on his own)

The major he chooses? Med.

Why? Because Bruce dropped out of med school.

Jason practically flies through all the secondary education that he needs to catch up on and is already en route to earning his bachelor's AND his master's.

And it'd be so incredibly funny if the way Bruce and Jason reunite in this AU was purely by coincidence.

Bruce (as Brucie Wayne) offers to show up as a guest lecturer at Hudson University (the school Dick attended but dropped out of so double points for Jason), maybe to talk about future career paths and job positions at WE idk

So as Bruce is just wandering around the campus, he randomly bumps into a student and immediately puts on the Brucie act and is all "Oh my, I'm SO sorry, I'm just a klutz haha" only to stop dead silent when he makes eye contact with a very alive, very grown Jason Todd, who also stops dead in his tracks, mouth agape, staring at Bruce like the world's about to end

And before Bruce can get his thoughts straight, Jason just bolts out of there like his life depends on it, and Bruce is just in shambles for the rest of the day.

It doesn't help that the person giving Bruce the tour is all like "Oh yeah, that's Jason, he's one of the heads on our student council haha, anyways, this way, Mr. Wayne." and Bruce is just stood there bluescreening.

Alternatively, it'd be kinda funny if this all happened AFTER the events of UTRH where after the final encounter with Bruce and Joker and the whole explosion, Jason's just like "yk what, maybe I'm just gonna turn over a new leaf and pursue a higher education"

So while Gotham's still reeling from the aftermath of Jason's near takeover as the top crime lord and Bruce is still painstakingly trying to figure out where his son went, the whole time Jason's just been chilling on a school campus and Bruce just so happens to bump into his son (who, last time they met, tried to kill Bruce and blew up the building they were all in) and Jason's just all normal-looking with his textbooks and nerdy glasses and Bruce doesn't know whether to scream or cry.

They're probably not going to die. 70/30. Maybe 60/40 if they get unlucky and the debris pile shifts, but there's nothing they can do about that. Neither of them got hurt, Eddie says oxygen shouldn't be a problem, and two floors above them is a whole crowd of first responders looking at the blinking lights of their transponders on a screen right now. Their chances are really, really good. 

Buck's not gonna be the one to say that, though. 

He shifts closer so he can brace himself over Eddie on his elbows. It's cramped in their little safe pocket, but there's enough room to roll off him if he wanted to. He doesn't. Eddie doesn't say anything; his big hands are still at Buck's waist, under the turn-out coat, where they fell to steady him when the structure groaned and Buck knocked them both to the ground. It’s hard to see each other; their headlamps cast strange shadows from where they're discarded next to their busted radios—when they radioed for help nothing happened but their voices echoing back to them, like he and Eddie are the last two people in the world.

"Eddie," Buck starts, voice low and raspy so the words only fall between the two of them, "This is... bad, right? What—what if we don't..." 

He can feel the give of Eddie's exhale underneath him, the hot rush of it against his face. They're both breathing way too fast for all the concrete dust in the air, but Buck thinks the danger is probably halved if they're sharing it.

"Buck, listen. We're not there yet, alright?" Eddie says steadily, or trying to be. There's a breathless quality to his voice that Buck wants to bottle up like a firefly. 

"Yeah, but," Buck trails off, then deliberately drops more of his weight onto Eddie so he can feel the way he doesn't even flinch until their foreheads brush. "We... we have to be realistic, right?" 

He counts the seconds as Eddie stays silent underneath him. Precious seconds, Buck knows in the back of his mind, and doesn't think harder about why.

Then Eddie's hands at his waist squeeze, once, then slowly, like they're barely even moving, splay out over Buck’s ribs, big and warm and solid. Buck takes an inhale and holds it, so he can feel his chest expand under Eddie’s touch. "Yeah," Eddie says, practically voiceless, into the space between their mouths. "We—should be. Realistic." 

The radio crackles—out of range, not busted—with Gerrard's stupid fucking voice, "Firefighter Diaz. Buckley. Do you copy?" 

Eddie doesn't do anything like spring apart, but he does let go as he reaches for the radio and responds, the loss of contact like pressure taken off a wound. Buck has to sit up and grit his teeth against the blinding urge to—what? Smash the fucking radio? Find a piece of rebar to start bleeding out on? He doesn't get to do any of that, because they're starting excavation efforts now, and Gerrard is signing off with a condescending don't do anything stupid down there, and then it's just them again, staring at each other with the real world right there with them. Buck is still panting, can't get enough air, but underneath him Eddie's breathing is slow, even, and steady. 

"Looks like we're gonna be okay," Eddie says. Smiles. And doesn't touch him again.

okay so i was thinking of a joke earlier about how in DPDC Amity Park's slogan "a great place to live" is not only city propaganda but also the city lording it over the rest of America for being normal. But then I remembered that, despite how many DCU Cities with heroes in it there are, the amount of cities in America without heroes still far outnumber the amount of cities in America WITH heroes.

So I did a little digging so the joke would still land. Something most heroes have in common is that they operate in major cities. What makes a major city? I found that the general consensus is that the population is roughly over or around a million. THEN I looked up the populations of cities in the DCU that I thought of off the top of my head. So Gotham, Metropolis, Starling City, Central City, Jump City. All of them ranked up to millions in population (most of them were in the tens of millions).

Amity Park's wikipedia describes it as being similar to specifically Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco.

Philadelphia's Population: 1.576 million as of 2021 Chicago's Population: 2.697 million as of 2021 San Francisco: 815,201 as of 2021

Whiiich means that Amity Park if we take that from canon, is probably a major city. There are approximately 19,000 cities in America with probably less than a hundred that are major cities. Adding the DCU major cities wouldn't skew the data too much.

Which MEANS that I can make the joke that Amity Park's "great place to live" is not only just typical city propaganda, but also its Amity Park lording it over the other major cities for being one of the only major cities that doesn't have problems bad enough to warrant a superhero or a vigilante. Cue stage left the Fentons and Phantom :)

Amity Parkers were probably SO proud that they didn't need a superhero. They didn't have to worry about things like 'world ending threats' and 'super-powered individuals' and 'staggering property damage'. And then enter Fentons.

It also could be used as an excuse for why nobody took notice to Amity Park getting ghosts if folks like me aren't huge fans of the notion of a media blackout via Tucker, Technus, or the US Government. Or if you want to keep Amity Park as its urban city self. Amity Park's news on ghosts gets drowned out in a week because there's news on more popular, well-known cities going on every other day. The shit going on in Amity Park is every other major city's regular Tuesday and it gets filtered as such.
