Marinette is such a disappointment of a lead female character in a western magical girl cartoon. She isn't a good leader and all her team consist of yes men and women and sidekick Chat Noir where her real partner Alya is standing over to the side. I liked her in the first two season and maybe some in s3 but the s4 and onward just got to me ngl. It's her world and we're all just living in it. Miraculous is so weird when it comes to team dynamics because I get she's guardian but I really wished it were someone else and not her because she chooses people she already get along great with. It fun for team dynamics to add be different and broader.

The whole she's just 14 the fandom spouts only goes so far how many messes do you do until you realise you need to own up to them even at that age when you should know better on your conduct ?

I get it hard to communicate but onwards I always thought the bigger of the two in the conflict was her because of her secrecy and her controlling tendencies. I disliked it so much in the ephemeral episode and her betraying her partner disgusted me. Sorry to those who like or defend her character this much but I can't stan or like a character that does this much crap to a friend let alone a love interest and then gloss over or minimize it and not be called out for it. Like, are people standards that low they think she's a good leader or a good proper representation on feminism when this show reeks of misogyny and misandry. She's the ultimatum voice for Astruc.

A communication issue with her Chat was fine a long time ago but now in s5 she crossed it hell nah how do people still support a ship with her knowing she followed Hawkmoth command for Adrien. I literally can't anymore with this show. Every guy she likes gotta be so 100 percent in effort and like in the Shadybug special him always comforting her makes me so jaded whenever she cries what about a change in dynamics had we ever seen her comfort him in turn how are people invested in this ship? Like that time in the bench and she just thought of ways to woo or give presents instead of just comforting him is so sad to watch.

She really followed in Master Fu steps. The bar is in hell and she crossed it in the finale. There is no excuse no handwaving it away and i know in my heart they gonna minimize it for Adrien own good. Everything is for his own good huh? What good is it rooting for a ship that just reeks of pity points. Like, she was never my favorite but who knew 8 years ago she'd pull a stunt like this and people bending over and doing mental gymnastics to rationalise this insanity. She really is a good foil to Gabriel ironically to bad she has no sway in this family drama we call the Agreste.

I know she has good intentions and it's not wrong for her to wish to save her prince but like thats all that is intention. Her actions are also important and the effects she's done is so bad that if she weren't the Main character and we haven't spent the chunk of the majority in her pov alone she'd be disliked.

I feel like compared to other respective series Winx Club s1-3 Bloom, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, Totally Spies they have it much more harder and so many more all show the consequences of your actions and how you do them right and they're her age. I feel like whenever someone bring up consequences it's like people in this particular fandom think we do it to punish Marinette but no I just never ever saw it properly done in this show because she's very coddled in the narrative. I don't see other MC as coddled as her before in a show where when they MESS UP it's actually integral and important.

You encapsulated all my thoughts perfectly, anon. I've said so many times before that I loved Marinette from Season 1-3 and even during Season 4 as it aired. What made me fall out of love with her character post Season 4 was the utter lack of acknowledgement of her actions and the insistence in portraying her as in the right at all times. Like you said, it's not just your intentions that matter. Your actions and the effects that they have on the people around you also matter. The writers don't seem to understand this, and it hits Marinette's character worst of all. She had so much potential to be such a great character, which is why I feel so sad seeing just how badly the writing failed her. Marinette deserved better.

So I’m new to the nhie fandom, watched for the first time like last month and with the teaser this is the first time I’m experiencing an active fandom for this show and not just reading a lot of fanfic and metas (thank u for your service on both fronts btw) and a part of me shouldnt really be that much surprised with how vitriolic fans of either “team” of the triangle would get with each other, cuz this isnt my first rodeo of ship wars and stuff, but similarly to you I really like both ships and have no hatred for either character and really dont get why anyone else would really tbh.

Still, I read a tweet a few days ago that I CANT get out of my mind no matter how much I try. A daxton shipper who said something among the lines of not wanting Devi to end up with her racist bully and like… I’m scratching my head trying to understand that. Bully I get it, dont agree with the interpretation, but I can see why someone would think that, but racist?? I can’t think of any moment of him being racist. Did I miss something? I’m genuinely asking cuz being a white latina who lives in LATAM is not like I know all the ins and outs of racial politics in the US, but like the only instance of racism that I can think of in Benvi interactions is the antisemitic comment Devi made in episode 2, but I dont think thats it.

anyway, to answer your question, there are two major components to ben's racism (as far as i'm aware, could be there are more that i'm not sensitive to): ben's line about "it'll collect on your mustache" in 1.02 and ben calling devi 'david'.

the first plays into the way western beauty standards are oppressive to women of color. the second plays into the way any names that don't fit into a very narrow anglicization often get americanized anyway because white teachers and classmates won't even do the baseline work to pronounce people's names right.

now, the fact that the nickname undoubtedly contributes to a broader cultural insensitivity that affects real life people can and does exist alongside the writing itself having an affection for and therefore being unwilling to condemn the use of the nickname. speaking personally, i find it really easy to romanticize the nickname without losing sight of the fact that i have the privilege of finding it romantic because i've never had my name forcefully colonized.

now i'm gonna ask you a question, hopefully you don't mind! what was binging the first three seasons like? i'm mostly interested what stuck out to you, if you noticed the s2 tone shift that seemed/seems so drastic to me, if you have a favorite episode and/or season.

hello, i'm a new bts fan, what did rm and j-hope say about their albums? i've been listening to both of them for months, they're so good, rm's lyricism is unparalleled and j-hope imo made songs that no other idol is in conversation with! ps. i come from western alternative/indie music and as much as i like bts, i wouldn't call myself an... army... bc i feel like my relationship with their music is too personal and special to me for that. is that weird?

hiiiii my love ! i remember namjoon talking about it during the indigo release live i think. he mentioned he was worried about the album, but especially about wildflower and about putting it as a title track because its a 4 minute song so its not necessarily whats "trendy" or "chart friendly" right now. which granted he said so in a very nonchalant way and was overall like "yeah its not chart friendly but wtv!" which is nice <3 as for hoseok though i think it was in a live where he talked about how armys didnt really seem to connect with jitb like he had hopped and wondering if that meant he should stick to the bubblier hope world style people seem to expect of him now....which is so heartbreaking that they even had these thoughts honestly like its YOUR art its yours its not anyone elses. they both made their albums so personal which is risky when theyre almost expected to just make silly fun chartable safe pop music now. it just makes me so sad especially hoseok really i wish he wouldnt think that :((

as for calling yourself an army GOD felt! i do tend to call myself army esp on here bcs ppl might call you pretentious otherwise. and because i really do love bts but i do also feel like my appreciation for them is not necessarily influenced by the fandom. im not really as up to date on what they do as maybe most fans but that doesnt negate that bts are really important to me for really personal reasons and i dont think i would be more of a fan if i felt more connected to the fandom. i think a lot of people get really defensive over the army title and whenever someone expresses their "fanhood" a little differently or who doesnt necessarily consider themselves a part of the fandom which is super weird and reactionary but thats par for the course with armys tbh. so i dont think its weird at all! i highly encourage you to make enjoying bangtan as personal to you as you want it to be, really no one should have a say on how you see yourself as a fan and why except for you!

I just plucked the courage to actually send u an ask fhdjhd but GOSH i love your video edits and your gifs and your meta article posts, you're so articulate and you can explain/describe moments in a way that makes me go "oh wow, i cant believe i haven't seen it that way before!!" It's like reinforcing the fact that this series has always been about them, and everything that has happened only happened either because they met or they grew appart and miss eachother. I kinda feel like maybe.. juust maayyybe there's a chance KA wants to make the ship canon, since it's the last movie and they want to end it on a highnote maybe (bcs honestly i think the only reason they've been holding back is purely bcs of the merch sales, since they don't have a problem showing a wholesome lesbian love story in kobayashi maid dragon) butt i could be wrong, maybe i'm just overly optimistic and delusional, they could somehow ruin it and give an ending that panders to all the ships again 😅🥲, but at least there's a clear-cut guarantee that part 2 would dedicate a large portion of it fixing rin and haru's fight!!! Well, you know me, I only care for one ship, which is the only one with confirmed info that they're both actually gay and have mutual feelings for each other. There are some other ships in free! I'm fine with (those do not include Rin or Haru in them xD), but I just mostly don't care, bc after reading all the stuff, you can see that in some of those to one the other one is actually like his second option, which I just do not like. Others I just don't even see, bc again to me who witnessed great close male friendships and having two sisters who I'm very close to, I just do not see anything romantic in that.

It's not just Free! tbh, it's like any sports anime these days. They see two guys walking together, it's a ship. And like no one cares if they're just bros. Like I'd get i they did some fanservice fanservice, but like I never saw anyone in Free! crossing the line the way rinharu do. I can without thinking much name you 10 rh moments that no matter how hard you think can't be explain as being bros, but can't name one when it comes to others. I just find some ppl shipping everyone with everyone weird sometimes. It's like western fans see like some eastern actors or singers slap each other ass lovingly and they're like "oh they're fucking" I'm like "yeah, ofc all 500 of them, you're absolutely right". Yeah, I eel you about "going there". I mean seeing part of it, it just kinda cemented my confusion, bc I do not get how it can be considered platonic. We were just discussing since yesterday with @freeseafirefly how I now even more perplexed and do not understand how they will resolve it without going into relationship territory. It's just our point here is that like... no one forced them to go there (I mean its not like this whole fandom has some wild expectations or anything already), we were waiting or our usual friendship and swimming and maybe tiny conflict about struggles of pro-careers and some usual rh implications (maybe all the rh gay in dramas as always). Not some pure fanfiction coming to life here haha.

Like why I'm laughing is bc I twice used in my "fics" bringing up him leaving Haru as a force to push the confession, bc there's no way if he adresses this it won't lead to this. And now we not only have this (bc Haru just basically layed it out there), but an actual scene of him playing on their feelings for each other and a literal image of Rin leaving and "taking Haru's heart with him" to the point when he's for the first time in his life openly crying on the ground. And it's not like this scene can be interpreted as anything else, the whole fandom talks same, bc the whole fight was just about them, what Haru said was just about them, there's a literal boom of his heart getting out of his chest, before he falls and now he's heartless.

So our question is like... why go there?

It's like some say that they might still resolve it with "they're special to each other" and swimming, but still like we already knew that, there was no reason to go that far is what I'm saying. And to think that it was planned since forever giving the clues is like... ???

The whole spoon theme also throw me on the loop because like, lets be honest, it's wedding themed. And that part of the interview about part 2 there also made me go...?????? Because I mean, huh?

This is just all in all very interesting turn of events to say the least. I do not see the point of all of this if its not what I think it is, esp after seeing tweets like "even I see a rh wedding and I'm mh T_T". It's just all very unsubtle, that's why we're confused.

Like who knows, maybe we'll really by some magic turn of events get lucky and they really decided that since its the ending, it's okay to go for it. But I also don't wanna to hype myself much, I'm already really happy with it, just bc again, this scene already proves all of my points.

ok the the first one is Royalty AU

first things first, when I say Royalty AU, I don't mean the classic shit we've all become accustomed to. Im talking about the good old Chinese royalty! And I want to emphasize that these guys will/should be dressed in century appropriate attire. As someone thats read a handful of 'marinette, princess of china' fics from the ML Fandom, I've noticed a common trend. Marinette wouldn't be in the culturally appropriate clothes, always ballgowns. Not that there's something wrong with it, its just most of if not all these fic are set in China, so I'd expect Chinese royalty to dress as THERE dress code calls for. And since this AU takes place far in the past like, it won't make sense for any of the characters to be in royal clothing that wasn't from there region. I'm not trying to white knight/gatekeeping. Im Guyanese not Chinese. But since JTTW and Monkie Kid take place in China, it's only right. In my opinion that it. You don't have to outright agree with me.

With out of the way, it's time for that good old AU crack

"Oh There you are MK! I was about to have a servant go fetch you!" Sun Wukong says, gesturing for his boy to come sit with him.

"S-sorry for keeping you waiting I got caught up in my lessons with Mr. Tang" MK responds, sitting next to his father. Red Son looked gobsmacked. The beautiful young man he had bumped into, was the prince of this land? Damn, life truly blessed him. Or cursed him depending on how you looked at it.

- And MK straight up tells RS why he's agreeing to this union.

"Look Red Son. I've dreamed about meeting my one true love for a while. And I would give almost anything for that dram to be real. The look in his eyes was a mix of sadness, but that was drowned out by loyalty and determination. It just made Red Son fall for him even harder. Clearing his throat Red spoke.

"I understand, for im doing this for the betterment of my people to. But I propose a wager"

"A wager?"

"Yes, if i can make you fall in love with me by years end, before our marriage, we can live together like in the fairy tales from far away. But if I fail, in a years time afterwards you will be permitted to find your own path in life" Red Son stated. MK took a moment to process what was happening.

"So, if you succeed in making me fall in love with you, before our marriage we can live happily ever after?" Red Son nodded in response, letting the younger continue.

"And if I shouldn't fall for you, in a years time after our union, im free to leave?" Red Son nodded once more.

"So, what do you say?"

In the end, your free to choose their fate, should Red Son win the hart of Mk? Will he fail? Or will he let him go, and let him travel the country, after all Mk's a free spirit and keeping him trapped in a big house is like keeping a cannery trapped in a cage only for its song, only for it to dul. Or will the unthinkable happen and will both boys find their freedom? together or appart? I don't know, because that's all up to you 😉

personally, I’m partial to where MK and Red Son both find freedom together. Like they straight up run away together to somewhere far away and just live out there lives together. 

this could also be genderbent thing as well. MK or Red as their respective counterparts. Again it doesn't have to be, but it’s whatever bro. im just spitting out the idea. 

Also, there is a main side plot that they fight the WBS throughout the year as well, along with other shenanigans you wanna throw in.

The second is a My Hero Academia/BNH/MHA AU

truth be told i'm not a big fan of MHA i think it to over hyped(this is also coming from the same person that’s a Fairy Tail fan lol), and the fandom i don't even know how to describe that mess, but I will admit not the whole of its toxic since every fandom has some toxic members, some even more so. 

I just sometimes find myself enjoying MHA AUs like the Fullmetal Alchemist, Danny Phantom, Evil!Deuk AU and several others. 

to make it clear I don't see this AU taking place the same time as the main plot of the actual Anime/Manga. This could be either like 6-10 years before or after the plot idk bro. But i’ll do this after the main story plot of MHA, so keep that in mind ya? another thing, the gang is still in China, the top hero school in the world just so happens to be in Japan, and it’s only ever mentioned by Sun wukong and other pro heros. So MK never attended AU. in short it’s only ever mention/ reference.

- Mai’s Quirk is called Dragon. 

- it pretty much works the same way as it does in the show(duh)

- Tang’s got a knowledge Quirk, 

- my man can retain information and he’s basically an archive of information drawback being his personality lol 

- Piggsy is a Animal that gained a Quirk

- in cannon to my current knowledge, there are two other characters that can confirm animals can become sentient. the characters being Fumikage Tokoyami, & Nezu the principal at the school UA.  

- Sandy is just Conner Kent, aka he like superman but can't fly, or shoot lasers from his eyes. And blue.  

I have two scenarios for Macaque and Wukong  

*- The first one is that, Sun Wukong & Macaque are brothers. twins to be exact. 

- they where legit people, but have mutation quirks that made them too like monkeys. 

- the added powers were just a boues. 

- Sun and Mac are close growing up, like there brothers but also best friends.

- the draw back to there quirks could honestly be whatever you want bro idk, same with the others tbh. Personally I like to think Sun just has lack of motivation, and Macaque needs to draw on other people's energy.

- Sun is a hero, Monkey KIng and Mac is a villain Six Eared.

- Sun was always treated has the golden child in the family, Mac always resented that, but there shitty up bring didn’t stop the two from being good brothers to one another.

- soon tho the resentment became hatred when Sun was able to attend UA in Japan, while Mac didn't.

- Mac be angy 

- so he became a villain, and joined the Chinese branch of the LOV(league of villains)

- Sun doesn't know this till he finds out during the all out war during the main story. and by that time he’s a full on hero with is own agency(The Flower Fruit agency)    

- when the hero's ultimately win and Mac is arrested 

- This ultimately hurts Sun a lot, his brother was in jail now, arrested for his involvement and wrong doings, he knew nothing about this! this brother, his blood. A bad guy? why? he hadn't seen his brother since he left for UA, he hadn’t seen him when he came home, and started his agency. 

- this just puts Sun into a funk so he’s not as active as he used to be, and he starts thinking he might need a successor 

*- The second one is that they were two separate people that had similar quirks and both attended UA but Sun ended up in the hero corse. so 1A.

- Both Macaque and Sun have similar quirks, Sun’s is obviously more light based while Macaque’s is more shadow based(this applies to the first one as well)    

- Macaque was placed in class 1B, U.A.’s High's Heroics Department, I believe, you can correct me. 

- In cannon Class 1A and 1B both went to the training camp. I can see the teachers pinning Sun and Macaque against each other to hone their skills. 

- And because of that they become great friends    

- In fact when they graduate they both co-found there hero agency together in China and are a duo.

- But due to Monkey King’s popularity and Six Eared's association with shadows(people sometimes saying he has more of a villains quirk than a heros) the public see’s Macaque as Sun’s sidekick when thats far from the truth. 

- now it’s up to you whether you think that Wukong and Macaque would be in a relationship together, but knowing how cooked we all are, ShadowPeach is a thing here more than likely. 

- If you do or don’t support/ like the ShadowPeach aspect, the two would be living together regardless since its more cost efficient. 

- They my be heroes but living costs are expensive!   

- I would imagine there would have been a huge fight/argument between the two in privet of course, at there home.(or in there shared office if you want the extra angst of the other people they work with hearing them fight)   

- If the two are dating, then this would either lead to an out right breakup, or Macaque just up and leaving with Wukong thinking he’ll come back once he’s cooled off. But after a week, with no sign of his partner, or him answering texts or calls, not even coming into work. Wukong gets worried that something might have happened to him. so there wouldn't be a confirmation if they were still a thing or not. 

- But Wukong remains hopeful, despite the nagging at the back of his head, and gut telling him to go find Macaque, or atleast make a public statement, or even just tell another pro hero about it.   

- on the not so shippy side, Macaque and Wukong still have there argument, and much like the ShadowPeach esc side, Macaque up and leaves, and isn't seen for weeks. the only difference here is that when Wukong comes home one night to there flat, most if not all of Macaques stuff is gone. 

- where as if this was the ShadowPeach side, Macaque leaves all of his possession in the flat he and wukong share. for the simple reason being, he still loves him and wants to go back, but Macaque being Macaque can’t bring himself to do it, especially after seeing just how hurt Wukong looked when he yelled at him just before he left.  

- in other words, ANGST DIALED UP TO A 10 BABY  

- in either case, its a news report that confirms Wukong's suspicions that he desperately didn’t want to believe, and that is Macaque turning into a villain.

- much like if the two were brothers, Wukong just can’t take it and is no longer as active as he once was, and is thinking about, either A) Retirement  B) Saying, “Fuck Society, Be Gay Do Crime” and join Macaque as a villain himself, or C) find a successor, and a way to bring Macaque back to there side, but most importantly, back to him.    

- also extra points if you're after people's hearts and want to make them suffer;  - If there dating, Wukong curle’s up in the bed he and Macaque shared, holding/wearing something of great value to Macaque and just crying himself to sleep, where as Macaque is getting wasted on alcohol, as he stumbles out of the bar he’s in, he either see’s something that reminds him of Wukong or while he’s trying to put his wallet back into his pocket, a photo of them on their first date fall’s out. and Macaque just cries in a nearby alley way. And it’s there where he gets indoctrinated into the League.

       - If there just friends, macaque heads to the nearest forest and just levels it, where as Wukong just gets engrossed into his work, trying not to think about it. you could add you own spin on this, again i'm just spitballing.             

- NOW BACK TO MK! :D     

- Obviously MK is a huge Monkey King fan     

- at Twenty MK has come to terms he's quirkless (HE’S NOT)

-for ANGST reasons MKs fokes kicked him out at this realization at 13.

- he works at Piggsy's Noodle shop, and has been since he was 14.

- don't need a quirk to drive or cook!

- the boy lives a content life with his new family, till DBK happens :D

- DBK runs a Mafia(in conjunction with TLOV) and has been in jail for like 5 years thanks to Monkey King, PIF and RS brake him out one night when MK's out making a late night delivery since Piggsy had the bright idea to go 24/7 service!

- one thing leads to another and Mk somehow manifest what looks like the Monkey King's staff, but its not, it’s MKs powers, it just so happens to be the same power the Monkey King has. And it practically goes down the same way in the pilot. 

- but unlike the pilot Mk and Mei go straight to the FF Agency, after making a panicked call to Pigsy and Tang.

- one way or another Mk are lead into Wukongs office. Mei being forced to stay in the lobby.

- they have there convo, butterfly monkey squishing included.

- "And so, I want you do be my success-" BOOM 💥

- from there they rush downstairs and see that the lobby has been infiltrated by the DB fam, and you know fight.

- once the DB family seems like there down, PIF wisks them away. Much to Monkey King’s displeasure.

From there stuff kind plays out like cannon, the calabash ep is just a conjoint quirk the Demon bros have. As for EP9, ill have to script that one out myself lol. I'll get onto it as soon as my will to commit stabs me in the face. Till then have a dancing Kermit the frog.

Now if you'll excuse me, am about to Kermit a felony :D

little rant abt tyk fic re: addresses

tbh like... its so obvious when fic authors havent like done a lick of research on ancient china even in a wuxia/xianxia setting much less modern china when writing danmei fics bc like idk its always been a thing that bugged me whenever ive written fic for like practically as long as ive been writing that i to do Some learning on my own about just like general shit before i try writing characters from wherever they hail from if its not like, north america or western europe. i also just have a thing that i dont really like to do guesswork when it comes to cultural customs and stuff even if i could bs it, its just like something that irks me not bc itd be inaccurate (even tho thats a good reason too) but mostly bc like if im writing abt something im going to Know what im talking about or i wont feel good abt posting it.

but anyway. this is really prevalent amongst tyk fics specifically bc a LOT of people like a frankly surprising number of people fall for zzs’s unreliable narration like right off the bat. if you reread just once or at least take his personality/character into account with how things are being framed/read between the lines, the novel comes together a lot more cohesively and wenzhou makes more sense and comes across as a much stronger relationship. but anyway the point i wanted to make is that people in ANY context whether it be a canonverse fic or a modern au or something, will still write him as referring to wkx as “lao wen” and like. just act like its just something he calls him. and ill admit later on in the novel it sorta just becomes habit for him and thats why he sticks with it, so post canon fics have rights in that instance, but like

so many people miss that he starts calling wkx that to mock him. like hes trying to be a dick to his face. for bg lao is a title used for someone that means like “esteemed/venerable” or a similar word yk how it is, and like. with how zzs frames wkx? hes not trying to be respectful in the least lmfao hes just being rude. but obviously wkx is smitten from day 1 so hes like :) this is fine i love u.

but like yeah this is just something that bothers me that like 99% of the fandom overlooks, to me if someone writes zzs calling wkx that in a modern au like, right off the bat as opposed to being around him (and miffed by him) for a decent while, it reads the same as writing a modern au binghe calling sqq shizun (bc shizun is specifically a title from an ancient chinese setting) instead of laoshi, which would make more sense in like this day and age.

idk which birds ur talking about so imma just speak on the birds i have emotions for

Yo are the express owls Okay? are they doing okay at their actual jobs? imagine just being at work at the end of the month super busy time of month and your boss is like “WHERE THE HELL IS JIM??” and you have to tell your boss jim is probably being forced to be an actor just so he can get a ride to work. do you think when hiring people when they put the intrusive question of “do you have a reliable ride to work every day” they have to put “any train operated by The Conductor is NOT considered a reliable ride to work”? interesting. i worry about them. also can i please be in a society where all genders wear tweed?

Based on the above im a little iffy on the conductor. not in a “if you like him youre bad” type of way just a. wew. this guy really forces these people to act. how has he won? what kind of danganronpa shit is this where you hold other peoples jobs on the line with the promise of “you may get home/to work....if you act for me” thats a little fucked up! That being said i know a lot of people like to make him to be a mix of like an owl and a fire spirit WHICH IS FINE but idk i kinda like the option of him being a raptor type thing? like a dino type of raptor. i mean. it would still go with the bird themes. theres parallels there. he has TEETH TOO so like theres no way this thing isn’t a predator animal of some sort. His sense of smell and hearing must be Impeccable.

I really like the whole thing around the penguinos tho <3 like “oh this grooves guy is following his passion <3 and hes getting absolutely stomped on by this old asshole of course we will help <3″ and like. I can’t really see the express owls and conductor having a family type of relationship but i can DEFINITELY see the penguins seeing each other as family. Like if an owl walked up to the conductor with a suggestion the conductor would scream their head off but if a penguin walked up to grooves with a suggestion he might actually consider it. Maybe not go with it right away depending on the idea but he would def consider it and appreciate the idea from a respected peer. the man HELPED the conductor with a movie once. this guy is about creative endeavors entirely. yes he calls the penguins bad actors but idk i feel like it could be seen in the same way as like a color guard coach is intense. He has space to grow but like. man. I feel like Grooves also just has more range than conductor? conductor like only makes westerns of some sort but grooves makes underdog stories he makes sci fi stories he makes stories about music. 

Also just saying JUST saying. I legitimately think grooves deserves the award and can also see why he’d be pissed about losing and i hoooonestly cant blame him for cheating to win either? like shit. imagine losing so much to an old guy with less range and who isn’t even grateful. imagine working your ass off with people you rely on, who while may not be as skilled, you choose to work with because you know they have your back and want to also make something great too, and imagine even offering to be a part of the competition’s movie, actually starting a community, and losing every time to as big as a douchebag as the conductor. believe me, i aint saying anything he did was okay or anything, but i can definitely understand where grooves is coming from when conductor kinda just sounds like a whiny bitch about not winning Once

tbh considering how often folks in this fandom get frustrated about art of particular characters gets way more attention than others, I’m shocked grooves doesn’t get MORE attention. that’s his thing. his movies are out of the norm and thus he never gets the acknowledgement he deserves and he can only really get it by cheating

Daughters (A Stranger Things Drabble)

Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Fandom: Stranger Things Words: 1855

One of my few non-terato related stories, about a year and a half old. This is a stand alone fic about Hopper showing Eleven the birth certificate from Dr. Owens and explaining what it means. Hopper opens up about his lost daughter, Sara. Feedback is appreciated.

Eleven sat on the couch covered in a thick blanket, watching a particularly old western that made very little sense to her, when she heard the special knock on the door.

Without taking her eyes off of the T.V., she reached out mentally and snapped open the four slide locks and the deadbolt with little effort. She heard Hopper enter the cabin, tap his boots against the door frame, and shut the door, though she didn’t turn to look at him. He had gone on his off-day without telling her why, and that, in her experience, was never a good thing. She was a little apprehensive to learn what exactly he’d been up to while he was away.

He stepped around the couch to turn the T.V. off and then sat down beside her, laying two envelopes on the coffee table. One was slim and white, and the second was big, brown, and overflowing.

“What’s that?” Eleven asked, nodding her head at them.

He didn’t answer right away. He sat hunched forward with his elbows on his knees, rubbing his mustache with his right hand, looking down at the brown envelope.

“I went to see Dr. Owens today,” Hopper mumbled from behind his hand.

Eleven’s heart rate accelerated in alarm.

“Bad man,” Eleven said in a nervous whisper.

“Nah, he ain’t all bad,” Hopper said. “He had something for me. Well, it’s for both of us, actually.” He reached for the white envelope and handed it to her. She took it gingerly.

Opening it, she pulled out a blue paper with writing she didn’t understand. “‘Cert…certificate of birth?’ What does that mean?”

“It’s a paper the parents get when a baby is born. Then when that baby gets old enough, they keep it. It’s proof.”

“Proof of what?”

“Life. Existence.” Hopper turned to her. “It shows who your parents are, where you came from.“ He pointed. “It’s also got a social security number.”

“What’s that for?”

“In American, you have to have a social security number to do just about anything. Go to school, get a job, etc. That number is your whole life.”

She frowned at the digits on the page, then the ones on her arm. “Another number.”

“Yeah,” Hopper laughed. “We all got ‘em, kid. I guess most of us are lucky that it’s not our name, too.” He jerked his chin at the paper. “Keep reading.”

“‘This certifies that in the state of Indiana, Jane Hop…’” She looked up at him. “Hopper?”

He nodded solemnly.

“‘Was born in Hawkins, child of Teresa Ives, Mother, and James Hopper… Father.” She looked back at him and lowered the paper, though still clutched it in her fingers. “I don’t understand. What does this mean?”

“Means it’s official,” Hopper said. “We’re family. You’re kinda stuck with me now. Sorry ‘bout that.”

She shook her head, but didn’t say anything. She was feeling a lot of things she hadn’t experienced before and couldn’t properly name, and was having difficulty sorting through them. She stared hard at the paper for a few minutes. Hopper watched her quietly; he seemed to be giving her space to process all this and room to react. Perhaps preparing for a storm, if she wasn’t happy about the arrangement.

After a few minutes, she folded the paper again and gave it back, which he placed on the table next to the large brown envelope.

“What is that?” She asked.

Again, he didn’t answer immediately, and when he did, it was with a very heavy sigh.

“Well... since we’re family now, I figured I should introduce you two.”

He reached into the brown envelope and pulling out everything that was inside it. There were drawings, old elementary work sheets, coloring pages, but most of it was pictures. Sifting through, he extracted a photograph of a small, blonde-haired, blue-eyed child, wearing a frilly blue dress, smiling widely. Her curly hair was pulled up into two pigtails with aqua blue bands.

“Is that Sara?” Eleven asked tentatively.

Hopper nodded. “This was her first grade class photo. Just a month or two before everything went to shit.” He found another photo, in this one, Hopper was sitting with Sara and a blonde haired, blue-eyed woman who strongly resembled Sara. Hopper was clean-shaven in the picture, and they were all smiling.

Eleven pointed to the woman.

“That’s Diane,” Hopper said. “We were married. Then Sara died. Then we weren’t married anymore.”

“Why?”

“My fault mostly,” Hopper said, staring at the picture. “She wanted to move on, try and get her life back, but I couldn’t let go. I started drinkin’, lost my job because I stopped showing up, all kinds of things that she quite understandably didn’t want to deal with. I wouldn’t have wanted to deal with me, either.”

“Where is she?”

“Philadelphia. She got remarried a few years ago, had herself a new little baby boy. She’s doing good. She’s happy.”

He reached into the pile of papers and drew out another certificate, like the one Hopper got from Owens, but from a different state. The name on the top line was “Sara.”

“She’d be your sister,” He said, staring at the type font as though he couldn’t see anything else. “She’d have loved a sister.”

The emotions that had been swirling in Eleven’s body had settled, and of the remaining ones, the most prominent was sorrow. “What was she like?”

Hopper’s chin shook, and she thought he might not be able to talk about it, but he said, “She was so smart. Smarter than me. Got it from her mom, I guess. She’s so interested in science and space and all that stuff.” He plucked at the aqua blue bracelet around his wrist. A tear fell from his eye and disappeared into his beard.

“She was gonna grow up to be a paleontologist and also an astronaut doctor. Not an astronaut that was also a doctor, a doctor that only treated astronauts.“ He smiled. “She was gonna have thirty kids, but she wasn’t gonna get married cause boys were gross. She was going to do so many things.” More tears fell, and he wiped his nose on his sleeve. “She never got the chance to do anything.”

Emotions can be infectious, especially when the person exhibiting them was so stoic and self-contained ordinarily. Eleven could feel tears on her own cheeks as Hopper spoke.

“Her birthday was April 17th,” He said. “She would have been seven if she had made it that long. She nearly made it.” The tears were falling freely now. He didn’t even attempt to wipe them away. Eleven wondered if he had ever said these things to anyone. She knew vaguely that most people in town didn’t even know he had had a daughter.

“A few months after, I came home and Diane was packing up Sara’s room. Just pulling down everything and stuffing it into boxes. I asked what she was doing… and she said she was donating it. That she couldn’t stand looking at it all every day. And I got so… angry. It was like she was just throwing her away and I couldn’t believe she could do that. I over-did it a little; I yelled a lot, started throwing things. That’s when she kicked me out for the last time. That,” He pointed to the pile. “Was all I managed to save. That’s all that’s left of Sara.

“Well,” He said, “That and this.” He pulled the bracelet off of his wrist and toyed with it a little. ”She used to wear these stretchy blue hair bands, like, every day. She had all kinds of different bows and hair things she could’ve worn, but she always wanted these.

“One day, while she was on chemo, she pulled them out so she could take a bath, and all her hair came with them. After that, she couldn’t wear them anymore. I was going to throw them away, but she made them into a little bracelet and had me wear it. She said she wanted to save them for when her hair grew back.”

His face crumpled. Holding the little blue bracelet in both hands, he pressed it against his forehead and wept.

Eleven pulled herself up to her knees and hugged Hopper around the shoulders, crying into his neck. They stayed that way for some time.

When Eleven drew back, inexplicably, the blue bracelet was now circling her wrist. She looked at Hopper questioningly as she reached to pull it off.

He stopped her. “No, you should have it,” He said. “She’d want you to have it. I want you to have it, too. We’re family now.”

She smiled and her lip quivered. She nodded and looked at the bracelet. A tenuous connection to a sister she’d never meet. She looked at the two certificated on the table.

“Sara was your daughter,” Eleven said slowly, carefully. “Does this mean that I am, too?”

“Yeah,” He said, regaining composure. “That’s exactly what that paper means. You’re my daughter. I’m your dad. Officially.”

“Just officially?” Eleven said.

Hopper shook his head. “No, not just officially. If you want, it could be for real.”

“For real,” Eleven repeated. “Not like Papa.”

“No, not like Papa,” Hopper said seriously. “I know he wanted you to call him that, but was there ever a time when he called you his daughter? Treated you like a dad is supposed to?”

Eleven shook her head emphatically.

“No, because he doesn’t even know what it means. I doubt he’s ever really loved anything. Certainly not you.” Hopper looked down at the two certificates. “I loved Sara. And I love you, too, kid.”

Eleven had never once in her entire life heard those words. The swirl of emotions was back, but this time, the most out-standing one was joy. Incapable of speech, all she could do was smile and cry.

Hopper reached out an arm and Eleven hugged him around the middle, resting her head on his chest. He squeezed her tight with both arms and planted a peck on the top of her head. After some time had passed, they let go of each other, but she took his hand and held it. They both needed the comfort of touch right then.

Eleven dared to picked up a drawing and asked Hopper what it meant. He told her it was supposed to be a dog-velociraptor, laughing. It went on like this for several hours: Eleven would choose something from the pile, and Hopper would explain what it was; tell little, loving stories about Sara’s brief life, and then he would put it back into the envelope.

When they had gone through the entirety of the pictures and papers, all that was left were the two certificates sitting side by side on the table. The only thing they had in common was the line, “James Hopper: Father.” He folded them and put them both in the brown envelope and sealed it. This wasn’t just old memories anymore. It was proof, just like Hopper had said. The love of a man for his daughters.

Request: Could you do a Western Dean x Reader where Dean is an outlaw. He recently robbed a bank and hides in the Reader's barn. The Reader finds him and runs to get help but Dean catches her and takes her hostage?

Pairing: Outlaw!Dean x reader

Word Count: 1,100ish

Warnings: mild language

“Good girl,” you said, feeding your horse a little bit of sugar you’d saved from dinner for her. She neighed and snorted into your palm, licking it clean as you looked around for her blanket. “What’d you do with your wool Sally? You know you like to sleep with it.”

The horse neighed again and you rolled your eyes, glad no one was around to see it. You weren’t exactly what you’d call a well mannered lady. At least that’s why your dad said you were single and would be that way forever. Well that might have been true but you could tuck your hair up under a cap and wear a loose fitting shirt after wrapping everything up and bam, suddenly you were your own husband. At least you could take care of yourself unlike some of the ditzes you knew.

“Where did I put that thing...” you said, wandering around the stalls, not spotting the blanket anywhere, wondering if the wind caught it and flung it up in the loft. You sighed and climbed the ladder, finding it as expected over what looked like a bundle of hay that broke open. You crawled over and ripped at it, finding it stuck. You tugged a few more times before you saw the hay move and a man pop up with the blanket over him. “Uh...”

You quickly got back down the ladder, remembering that face from one of the wanted posters around town. But this guy was faster and was on top of you like that, pinning you down with his bigger frame and tying you against one of the horse stalls.

“Listen...” you said, dropping your voice, so used to it that it’d become second nature at the sight of another person. The guy only squinted and grabbed your lantern, bringing it closer as he stared, wiping his sleeve over the dirt you constantly kept on your face to hide the truth. He scrunched up his face even further and pulled off your hat, your hair falling down in waves. 

“Little lady, what are you doing playing dress up?” he asked, earning a kick to the nuts from you. “Okay, that was condescending. My mistake.”

“You’re the robber,” you said, the man getting up to a kneeling position now as you hoped he would turn around so you could try to work the ropes loose.

“I’m Dean. You are?” he asked.

“George,” you said, cocking your head. “Let me go.”

“Funny, you don’t look like a George,” said Dean, wearing a big smile. “I’m in a slight predicament and need to lay low for the night. You’ll understand why I can’t let you go running off to alert the authorities.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t have stolen-”

“You’re mouthy for a lady. I like you. None of that yes sir horse shit. Independent. I like it,” he said. “One night in your barn and I take that fine horse in the morning and you’ll never see me again.”

“Sally’ll stomp you into the ground if you go near her,” you said, Dean giving the horse a glance as it snorted at him.

“I know how to tame a horse, even an uncooperative one,” he said, looking at you.

“Are you threatening me?” you asked, Dean shaking his head as he grabbed a stool and took a seat.

“I told you little lady, I only need to lay low for the night. A threat would be saying I’m going to reveal your secret but that’s not very gentleman like. I said it before, I like you. One night and we can go our seperate ways,” he said.

“You’re not taking my horse,” you said, Dean rolling his eyes. “You’re just not.”

“I will ensure she is returned to you in a timely manner,” said Dean, waving his hands. “Cross my heart.”

“At least give Sally her blanket, she gets cold at night,” you said, Dean surprising you by retrieving it and tossing it over the animal. “Thank you.”

“Do you live alone?” he asked, the answer already obvious. “It’d be warmer in your house, wouldn’t it?”

“I guess,” you said, Dean nodding as he undid your ropes and pulled you to your feet, walking you quietly by the arm through the yard and to the house. 

“Is that pie I-”

“Touch it and I will stab you,” you said. “You know how hard it is to find fresh blueberries out in these parts?”

“Yes mam’,” he said, releasing you inside, eyes wandering over to a shotgun by the door but not saying anything. You sat on your bed, Dean pulling up a chair by your fire and kicking his feet up on another one. 

“Why’d you steal that money?” you asked.

“Why do you pretend to be a man? Sometimes you do things because you have to sweetheart,” said Dean. “Get some shut eye and I’ll be gone before you even wake up.”

“You ain’t takin’ my horse,” you said, Dean sitting up in his chair.

“Sorry sweetheart but one of us is in charge right now and it is not...” he trailed off when you sat up in bed, holding a colt. 

“Who’s not in charge?” you asked. “You really think I only own the one gun?”

He stood up and sighed, you on his tail to push him outside. You were trying to figure out what to do when he looked back over his shoulder.

“I won’t tell you know. If you turn me in. Although we should probably get your hat if we’re going back to town,” he said.

“Why wouldn’t you tell?” you asked, Dean turning to face you, offering a small shrug.

“I like rule breakers. I like you. Twenty sheriffs couldn’t catch me but some little lady half my size did it without breaking a sweat,” he said.

“Where you going?” you asked, his brow furrowing. “West?”

“In that general vicinity, yes,” said Dean as you lowered the gun. “What are you doing?”

“Take me with you,” you said, expecting a laugh but getting a smile instead. “You want my horse, I’m coming with her.”

“I am an outlaw sweetheart. Does that seem like a good idea?” he asked.

“I’m technically an outlaw but no one seems to know that. Maybe I could teach you a thing or two,” you said, Dean chuckling to himself.

“Throw in a slice of that pie and you’re on.”

1. What can’t you sleep without? Depends on how tired I am. If im exhausted, expect me to pass out within minuets. Otherwise I need some background noise. It can be music, or like ESMR. and a light.
