Allow me to rant about Rusty and his theme for a moment okay.

spoilers for Armored Core 6 below.

Okay so first off Rusty's theme is so fucking good I love it so much.

It just has this sense of determination and righteous justice to it. It's so powerful and it fits his character incredibly well. If you've finished chapter 5 you know what I mean. Hearing this song kick in when you and Rusty team up to take down the Xylem makes everything feel worth it. "FUCK YEAH." Admittedly, I havent gotten the other ending (yet), so I dont know for sure how the song works there, but I can reasonably assume there's a final showdown with Rusty and it plays then.

Next I want to bring up Rusty's emblem. For the majority of the game, when he's part of the Vespers, it's a muzzled wolf.

But after 621 defeats him towards the end of chapter 4, he leaves the Vespers, and (at least in the liberator of Rubicon ending,) he joins them in taking down the Xylem and saving Rubicon. This change is accompanied by not only a new AC, "Steel Haze Ortus," but also a new emblem, depicting a wolf with it's fangs bared, free of any restraints.

This is a really subtle change but I like it a lot.

Finally I just want to mention that, in the wild, Ravens are known to adopt wolf cubs and play with them as they grow. Even following the wolf of it chooses to leave it's pack. Just like 621 and Rusty both abandon their missions in order to save Rubicon. I love that. Bravo fromsoft.

It was a hard decision, perhaps one of the hardest in Katya's life. She had already gotten him dragon teeth and bones for his birthday - what the fuck could top that? Eventually she settled on something a little more sentimental. She got them matching sweaters, made of the softest fur she could hunt down and bring to a tailor that wouldn't kick her out for the bloody mess. The sweaters were black, snowflakes on them and red drops of blood that looked like rain when combined with the snowflake patterns. She pushed the clumsily wrapped box into Puck's hands. "If you don't like it, I'll get ya somethin' else - " she mumbled, looking unsure and panicked. ❞

             PUCK   EXPECTED   AN   ANIMAL   CARCASS   .   Or a human one. Either would have been delightedly accepted by the Bhaalspawn, but he couldn't say that he was disappointed by the fact that he received neither.

Katya's posture was anxious & vulnerable as she pushed the gift Puck's way, giving the man pause before he began to open it. Whatever was inside, his darling werewolf must have put a lot of thought into it. 

His smile was already soft & gentle, hopefully enough to put her at ease until he could peek inside the box, but it grew in size when the gift was finally unveiled. 

             ❝ Oh ！❞ Puck held up the macabre sweater, chuckling at the sight of it. How very fitting. And very silly for someone like him to wear, just the way he liked it. 

With a gasp at her words, he clutched the garment tight to his chest. ❝ No ！You are not taking this away from me. It is a gift from my wife. Stay back, hound. ❞

Then, in a more genuine manner, Puck leaned in to give a small peck to her lips. ❝ I love it. Thank you, dear. Now take off your shirt. ❞

Playful tug at the sweater. ❝ So you can put yours on, of course. Nothing dirty. ❞

Love the thought of kiryu losing nishikiyamas lighter fucking instantly after he gave it to him. somebody's probably already talked about this but i cant get that fucking mountain goats post outta my head and ive been talking to myself about love as a central theme of frankly most art but especially the art i love the most and i got to undertale and i need to talk about it

god it's all about love. wanting love, not wanting to lose it, grief, hope, determination, it's all fucking love in like 8 different hats. it's the monsters' love they show you (the mercy they show you) that allows frisk to help them get their freedom, it's the player's love for them that brings mercy in the first place, it's all fucking love.

flowey only got his power to reset from dying with his sibling after an act of love for them and you know what he did? he spent years of his life interacting with the people and world as much as he could, in as many ways as possible. he loved being with them and wanted to experience everything because everything was worthwhile to him because of love. and that greed for love led to oversaturation, led to boredom, led to him hurting people to feel anything in that absence of love. he never stopped loving chara, y'know? he was always looking for someone else to play with, someone who could make him feel like nothing had happened. so much so that he follows frisk throughout the underground, insists on keeping them and you there as much as possible, both bitter and needy. and he has to admit that frisk isn't chara to move on. you're not them. they're gone. asriel's gone, too, or will be after this. it's love for chara that leads him to break the barrier, as it was for asgore to try and stop you, and for toriel to take you in at the beginning and the end. it was the desire for love that kept him from letting go, and that caused him to harm so many, as it was for alphys, undyne, asgore, toriel, etc. him, arguably more than anyone else, hurt people out of desire for love and grief over it. and it's him acknowledging that desire and letting it go when it hurts people that sets everyone free.

it is love that makes you go back through the underground, calling papyrus and undyne and toriel in every room just to see their different responses. it is love that leads you to check everywhere before finally ending the game. it is love that leads you back to where your friends are standing, talking about how they've been changed by you, about how the love between you has led to this. it's love that makes you end it to see them happy, and curiosity (which in this case is often just greed for love) to some extent.

and it is love and greed for it that brings you to the reset screen. and flowey, whose desire for love almost consumed everything, that kept the people he loved from their happy endings, from their futures, that asks you to reconsider. having seen all you have, having seen his mistakes, and how happy your friends are now, are you willing to put your desire for love above their happiness? above their freedom? will you make the same choice as him after seeing what harm it caused, after finally getting what you wanted? because whatever reason for resetting you have, it'd probably boil down to love in some way. love for the characters, for the game (experience or lore), etc.

flowey's downfall, to some extent, was in the apathy that came from overconsumption. instead of cherishing the life he had, he had to know the rest. he couldn't let it lie, couldn't find peace about it and move on. he had one life, as do you, as do (in theory) these characters, one you would at that point snatch from them by resetting. flowey's asking you to think twice about whether or not you want to control them, to play with their lives for your own happiness. even if it is out of love.

because it always is.

you wonder how youve come to love him; was it because of his “nonchalant demeanor” that had ticked every time bomb you had in you, or was it his athleticism—yes, i know, boring—that quite literally fixed you in more ways than one? orrr was it actually his cleanliness and (n)-step skin-care routine that would probably do the opposite of what it actually does with how uncooperative your skin is?

but what youre sure about right now, at this time and day, the itoshi sae you fell in love with was definitely not present.

“saeeee” you call out to your husband from the kitchen.

“saeeeee” calling out much louder, youre met with even more silence that quote on quote, ticked every time bomb you had in you.

“underlashes?” entering the dining room with your already-running-thin-patience, youre met with a sight to definitely behold.

“what do you want?” your husband—question mark x2–now reduced to a child perfectly mirroring his own features grumbles out from his seat at the table—a half-eaten slice of blueberry cheesecake slathered all over his mouth and some even getting onto his shirt.

“ummmm” you question aloud as confusion paints itself on your face—your eyebrows visibly furrowing as you try to process what’s currently going on.

“dont say anything. i dont wanna hear anything.” another grumble—albeit high pitched—comes from the seated man (the boy? child? manchild?) with his signature scowl planted on his face.

you watch with curious eyes as the manchild (youll call him that for now) reaches up for the fork on the “high-ass table counter thingy” (his words, not yours) attempting to feed himself.

heading off to the kitchen to grab your phone (for blackmail), you hear a sudden clank and a scoff from mr. manchild.

turning your head once more to face him, youre once again met with a sight youd definitely want to keep in your book of memories forever.

there, right in front of you, was the itoshi sae, mr. idgafer, the prodigal son™, the man of many names, and the love you call your life, staring down at the fork with the meanest mog and scowliest (is that even a word) face the world has ever seen.

thats right. the itoshi sae that was present right now, at this time and day, was not only the itoshi sae you fell in love with, but also the itoshi sae youd want to spoil, protect, and care for with your whole life.

“sae…” you try to stop yourself from laughing. you really do.

but in that moment, all hell seems to break lose, and that hell was your own laughing hell.

“pfft— hahahaha!” as you laugh your ass off, you miss the subtle shift in the red head’s expression.

your itoshi sae may not have been currently present, but you definitely there; the person he fell madly and deeply in love with. you and your bright smile that could light up all the emo shit inside him, your laughs that seemed to make everything much better, and your—

oh right. his blueberry cake.

ignoring your laughs, the little boy proceeds to hop off the high chair to retrieve the fallen fork.

hes almost tempted to leave you to your laughing trip, but hes too tired to clean up himself. so he does what every child would do; call a trusted adult.

and that trusted adult nearest to him was you, who so happened to be his spouse.

shaking his head, underlashes jr. starts telling you off and bossing you around like the chill guy he is.

“oi stop laughing and help me with this mess.” he slurs out, unable to resist the grin on his face.

“bu- but.. its your- your mess!” taking a deep breath, you wipe away the tears that had appeared on your eyes. “that was a nice laugh! right, underlashes jr?” grinning from ear to ear, you ruffle his hair, receiving multiple complaints and “punches” to your arms.

“yeah yeah whatever. now get off me and help me!” the mini guy successfully swats your hands off his hair, a faint blush blooming on the apples of his cheeks.

“alright, alright! right away, mister mini!” letting out a couple chuckles, you drag the little guy with you to the site of the (his) mess. “im not letting you off the hook though, little guy. you have to clean with me. ‘kay?”

“tch. whatever.”

he wouldnt have it any way though.

Ooh man, I love your Crew of Light's first Christmas tags.

Can you imagine... Lucy died on the longest days of the year, when light fades and darkness starts to reign on land and on everyone's souls from losing her. Then a month after Dracula becomes ash the Crew of Light are there together on the longest night of the year and Christmas and near the dawn of a new year. Light starts to slowly but surely come back, as if Quincey made sure of it.
